A variety of additional elements for installing siding. Siding, components for its installation, as well as the basics of creating a substructure Three basic rules to follow when installing components

When cladding the facade using siding, you will need to use related accessories.

Accessories (slats and trims) are required for edging door and window openings. With their help, the problem of finishing complex sections of the building, such as gables, as well as internal and external corners, is solved.

Additional elements include junctions and docking parts for processing transitions between different planes and materials. The purpose of accessories, their size and number depend on the area of the building and the nature of its facade.

Varieties of parts

To choose the right necessary elements decorative cladding and deal with their types, it is necessary not only to know the dimensions and purpose of the components, but also to take into account the features of the erected structure.

Such a skin detail is used as a starting profile, from which the main assembly process. Its installation involves fixing the top edge with nails along a pre-applied chalk line.

hinged plank

To protect the siding from rainwater flows, a hinged bar is mounted. It is mounted above the upper opening of the window or in the place where the sheathing plastic panel closes with the basement of the building.

The size of the hinged bar in length coincides with the starting element.

Connecting and near-window strips

The connecting part (3.05 m) provides for the connection of decorative panels to each other at the joints in order to hide the seams.

Along with the J-Trim element, the near-window strip (3.05 m) serves as a trim for door and window openings, and is attached along their perimeter. There is a wide (more than 14 cm) variation of the window trim, its purpose is similar.

Related Items

External and internal corners at the junctions of two walls are sewn up with corner accessories, the length of which is 3.05 m. Roof eaves are finished with a J-bevel (3.66 m).

Niches around windows and doors are sheathed with additional strips, the dimensions of which are 23 cm wide.

Finishing bar and soffit

Before installing the last row of vinyl panels, the finishing fastening element (3.66 m) is mounted, which is the final decoration of the facade.

The dimensions of the soffit are 3 m long and 0.23 m wide. This facade decor provides ventilation exterior finish buildings and their roofs. It is usually used for sheathing gables. It can be produced with partial or full perforation, as well as without it.

Installation

Based on professional experience, we can say that the selection and purchase of the necessary additional parts for siding is only part of the whole process, the basis of which is their competent installation according to the instructions.

Here you can not do without special skills, otherwise the result of the work may be disastrous. After familiarizing yourself with the technology of cladding buildings with vinyl planks, you can perform decorative trim with your own hands.

Additional parts for siding are intended for finishing decorative finishes facade and give it a finished neat look. Accessories for siding may vary in configuration and color depending on the brand. Their sizes can also vary, despite the fact that most manufacturers adhere to generally accepted standards.

Mounting Features

As mentioned earlier, there are several main types additional elements for cladding strips, which are attached to the facade at different stages of installation.

Before installing the main panels, fix the starting profile. It is nailed or screwed to the frame with screws. Next, the first sheet of siding is fitted under it.

Side panels are closed with a J-Trim strip, and window and door openings are decorated with a special profile, which is also used for facing minor recesses. If you need to match plastic panels in length, use a connecting segment (their sizes are the same), and an f-profile is suitable for fixing the spotlights.

Accessories for vinyl material are similar to those used in other cladding panels, however, they may differ slightly from each other. For example, when finishing the plinth, a wider starting bar and a corner segment are used. For metal panels, you can order accompanying extensions up to 6 meters in length.

Even if we are dealing with a flat facade plane, it is recommended to install decorative strips on a metal profile. A similar construction made of wooden beams is more difficult to implement and less effective.

Unlike galvanized battens, it needs additional treatment with antiseptics.

A high-quality metal base is able to withstand a large load, so it is suitable for fixing metal siding.

The advantages of the crate

The main advantages of the frame can be called:

  • the ability to visually align the walls of the house;
  • ventilation facade equipment;
  • wall insulation, which will positively affect the indoor climate and help save on heating.

For siding sheathing, it would be correct to choose a profile with a section of 2.7x6 cm with special sides that act as a kind of stiffeners. When installing the base, it is necessary to take into account the dimensions of the main cladding elements. For fixing straps to wooden frame ordinary self-tapping screws are enough, and in the case of brick or concrete wall dowels are indispensable.

The heavier the finishing material, the smaller the distance between the metal profile should be. According to the standards, the spacing between the laths of the crate is 0.6 and 0.4 m for vinyl and metal material, respectively. The frame slats are installed perpendicular to the fixation of the decorative cladding.

Important elements of the siding finishing process are additional elements or, as they are also called, accessories. Finishing windows and doors with siding is carried out using additional components - near-window trims and platbands. These components allow you to easily sheathe difficult areas such as corners, the space around windows and doors. In addition, additional elements include special junctions and docking elements for different planes. The use of accessories and their number will depend on the size of the building, on the nature of its facade.

IMPORTANT: The colors of all "Alta-Profile" planks are fully consistent with the colors of the siding!

Starting plank (3.66 m long)- used as the initial element of surface finishing with siding; it is installed with the upper edge on the initially applied chalk line and nailed along this line; then the bottom edge of the first vinyl "siding" panel is inserted into the starting plank and the top edge is nailed to the wall;
hinged plank(length 3.66 m) - installed above the upper window opening or at the junction of vinyl siding and the plinth of the building to protect against water flows;
Connecting bar(3.05 m long) - designed to connect the "siding" panels to each other and cover the seams;
Periowindow plank(3.05 m long) and J-Trim strip (3.66 m long) - used for finishing window and doorways, installed around the perimeter of door and window openings;
Window wide plank- used for finishing window and door openings, the width of which is more than 14 cm;
Casing (length 3.66 m.)- designed for edging door and other openings;
External corner (length 3.05 m.) installed at the existing junction of two walls;
Inner corner
Finishing bar (length 3.66 m.)- this is the final element for fastening the "siding" panels under the eaves; installed before mounting the last row of panels;
J-bevel(3.66 m long) - used for finishing roof eaves;
J trim(length 3.66 m) - used for finishing window and door openings, installed along the perimeter of door and window openings;
The platband is wide used when edging door or other openings;
Corner Radius Strip it is an outer corner, only rounded, it is installed at the junction of two walls (it is used both together with a wide casing, forming a compound angle to the siding, and separately);
Additional plank- used for finishing window and door niches, the width of which is more than 23 cm.
Soffit (3 m long and 0.23 m wide)- designed to provide ventilation of facades and roofs of buildings. Soffit is usually trimmed with gables of the roof. There are three options for vinyl soffit: without perforation, with partial perforation and fully perforated

As practice shows, buying siding and additional elements for it is still half the battle. Competently think over the installation process and rigorously - that's full list prerequisites for giving the house an updated look. Attention, finishing windows with siding will require you to have basic building skills. By purchasing Alta-Profile siding and accessories, you get high-quality finishing materials, which are easy to install, including by yourself.

The main thing is the little things! Siding accessories

Additional elements for siding are intended for the final finishing of the building, giving it neatness and completeness. Siding accessories from different manufacturers may vary in shape, color and texture, so it is recommended to purchase facade panels and additional elements of one manufacturer.

Types of additional elements

There are several main types of siding accessories that are used on different stages mounting:

Before mounting the panels, fix the starting profile for siding. The initial bar is attached to the frame with nails or screwed with self-tapping screws. The first panel is mounted to it.

The window trim for siding is mounted around the perimeter of door and window openings. This siding profile can also be used to cover small recesses.

To close the panel on the side, use the J-trim bar.

To join the siding along the length, use a connecting bar.

To fix the spotlights, use the f-profile for siding.

The range of accessories for vinyl siding is in many ways similar to those additional elements that are used for mounting other types. facing panels. But there are also some differences. For basement siding, for example, a wider starting strip is used, as well as a corner element. Components for metal siding can be produced to order, up to 6 meters long.

Sheathing devices for siding installation

Even if the wall of the building is absolutely flat, it is advisable to install the siding on a metal profile. This is a simpler and more reliable option than making a frame from wooden beams. Galvanized profile for siding does not need antiseptic and hydrophobic protection. This will save you money and time. In addition, the metal profile for siding is able to withstand heavy loads, so it is well suited for mounting basement and metal facade panels.

How to fix a profile under a siding? You can easily find the answer to this question on construction sites and forums or with the help of the video instruction “Installing a profile for siding”.

  • It is advisable to choose a profile for a batten for siding with a cross section of at least 2.7x6 cm. It has a special flanging, which gives it additional rigidity.
  • Self-tapping screws are enough to fasten the siding profile to the tree. When attaching to reinforced concrete or brick, dowels must be used.
  • The more weight finishing material, the smaller should be the step of fastening the metal profile under the siding. Please note that plinth and metal panels weigh more than vinyl. Therefore, in the video instructions for installing a profile for siding, it is recommended to maintain a distance between the strips of 0.6 meters for vinyl and 0.4 m for vinyl siding and metal siding.
  • Installation of profiles for siding is done perpendicular to the direction of installation of decorative panels. In most cases, the frame is mounted vertically. An exception is the installation of battens for vertical siding.
  • The siding profile crate makes it possible to visually align the walls and install additional thermal and waterproofing for the house.

Careful reading and careful observance of the installation instructions is a guarantee of the correct installation of the sheathing and siding in full accordance with the technology.

Siding is formatted panels that are fixed on the facade using a special technology. Panels can be wood, metal, vinyl. During their installation, a number of additional elements are used, with the help of which the cladding acquires a complete appearance. These additional elements are used in the design of corners, window and door openings, and so on. Yes, and mount the siding itself without them will not work.

Why accessories are needed

Facade decoration with siding has been known for a long time. Initially, it was used only as a protective cover, which protected the facade from the effects of atmospheric factors. Thanks to such protection, the service life of the building increased significantly, which is especially true for wooden houses, because wood deteriorates from negative natural factors much faster than other building materials.

Note: today, manufacturers offer a large selection of siding designed for facade cladding - from vinyl, metal, wood and other materials. Thanks to modern technologies manufacturing and processing, all types of siding serve enough long time- for several decades.

In order for the siding installation process to be quick and correct, and the finished cladding to look beautiful and neat, it is imperative to use component parts. Among them different types strips and profiles for decoration various parts buildings: corners, openings, roof overhangs and so on. Components perform not only a decorative function, but also a technical one.

Types of components

Based on the structural features of the building for facade cladding, certain types of components are selected. They are usually divided into two types: decorative and load-bearing.

    Decorative ones include: end plank, spotlights, platbands, ebbs, J-profile, near-window profile, moldings.

    Load-bearing are divided into two subspecies - visible from the outside and hidden. These include regular and arched J-profiles, initial strip, external and internal corner profiles, connecting rails.

Brief description of all types of components

For a better idea of the purpose of certain components, we offer a brief description of them.

J profile. Load bearing element. It is used in the processing of openings of windows and doors, areas of docking of the roof with the pediment. It is fixed before the installation of the siding, since the edges of the siding panels are installed directly into this profile. Sometimes the J-profile is also used as a decorative and protective element when processing corners. In this case, two profiles are attached close to each other on both sides of the corner, closing it.

Initial / starting bar. Load bearing element. It is used at the very beginning of installation - the first siding panel is attached to it in order to facilitate the entire cladding process. The initial bar is set in strict accordance with the level, because if you set it unevenly, then the position of all other elements will also be bent.

Connecting H-profile. Load-bearing element. Used to join two adjacent panels of the same row. Available in two types - standard and extended. The latter option allows not only to connect the panels, but also to put an emphasis on the docking point according to the design idea.

J-profile arched. Load-bearing element. It is used for registration of window and door openings with an arched bend. There are notches on the profile, thanks to which it takes the necessary shape.

Corner profile - internal and external. Load bearing element. It is used at registration of corners of the building both outside, and inside. The profile is equipped with grooves into which plastic panels are inserted.

End plank. Decorative element. Mounted at the top of the cladding to hide the edge of the last panel and give the façade a finished look.

Soffit. Decorative element. It is applied to processing of a roofing overhang of the building. It is produced in solid fabric and with perforation - holes for ventilation.

Platband. Decorative element. It is used for finishing window and door openings to give them a neat appearance. Platbands are used if the openings are located on the same level with the facade walls.

J-bevel - wind board. Decorative element. With it, trim the edges of the roof.

Window plank. Decorative element. It is used instead of platbands if window and door openings are recessed into the wall, that is, they have slopes.

Molding. Decorative element. It is used in the design of the internal corners of the building.

Low tide. Decorative element. It is used to divert rain and melt water from the facade and foundation.

Note: You will not be able to install the siding without additional elements - at least you need to use the initial bar. You can refuse the rest of the elements, but then the cladding will look like it was not finished to the end.

Calculation of components

It is better to calculate the required number of additional elements before starting work. This can be done along with counting required amount siding panels. In particular, such a calculation is important for buildings of non-standard geometry.

The easiest way is to calculate how many initial and final slats will be needed. AT total their length is equal to the total length of the walls that you are going to sheathe. Just measure them with a tape measure and get the desired result. And the number of slats is determined by dividing the total length by the length of one panel. Please note that during any construction works waste is inevitable, so purchase planks with a margin.

There should be no problems with the calculations of the angular profile either. Measure the height of the inside and outside corners, add the values, and then divide by the height of one corner. It should be noted that it is better to sheathe the corners with a solid profile or with a minimum number of joints. For this reason, professionals recommend counting the number of corner profiles for each corner separately.

J-profile and near-window profile are calculated along the perimeter of window and door openings, using the same methodology as for the elements described above.

Right choice

It is necessary to choose additional elements for cladding responsibly. First of all, pay attention to their quality. It is advisable to buy components from the same manufacturer as the siding panels themselves. Otherwise, they may not fit well or not fit at all.

Attention: Select all elements strictly according to the parameters so that they fit together without gaps.

The color of the components can be chosen either to match the siding panels or vice versa - in contrast with them, if such an option is conceived by the designer. Please note that elements of light shades heat up and fade under the sun less than dark ones.

Note: elements with matte surface more practical than glossy ones, because again they heat up less under the sun's rays. An even more practical option is elements with a laminated surface.

Mounting

Before starting the installation of panels and additional elements, it is necessary to carefully read the instructions from the manufacturer. Otherwise, you may make mistakes that are difficult or impossible to correct later. If you strictly follow the instructions, there will be no problems with installation.

In the first stage of work, install the initial bar to which you will attach the siding itself directly. The initial bar is fixed to the crate or to the facade wall using self-tapping screws, which are screwed strictly in the center of special mounting holes. Then a J-profile is installed, arched profiles (if necessary), corner profiles, joints are processed. After these works are completed, proceed to the installation of the siding itself.

For fast and successful work, you will need the following tools:

Measuring tape and ruler;

Carpentry corner;

Screwdriver and hammer;

Building level, better authentic;

Twine rope, chalk and pencil;

Scissors for working with metal products.

Sheathing for siding

The crate for siding can also be called a component in some way. Experts advise using it even if the panels are installed on a perfectly flat facade. This is necessary in order to give the structure high strength, since it must cope well with heavy loads. This is especially important when arranging the basement of a building and using metal siding.

It is desirable to make the crate from a metal profile with a cross section of at least 2.7x6 cm, then it will turn out to be strong. The distance between the rails depends on the type of siding: for metal panels - at least 0.40 m, for vinyl - 0.60 m. And the interval between fasteners depends on the weight of the panels - the heavier they are, the smaller the interval. The crate is made perpendicular to the location of the panels: if the panels are installed horizontally, then the laths of the crate are stuffed vertically, and vice versa.

Installation of soffit panels

Let's look at the process of installing spotlights for siding. To install them, you will need an H-profile, a J-profile, and 3x5 cm wood slats.

    Put marks on the surface of the wall, on which you will then attach the slats. The length of the rails should reach the end of the roof overhang.

    The slats are attached to the facade wall with the help of special pegs, which are used for accelerated installation.

    In addition, the rails are fixed around the entire perimeter of the roof overhang.

    Next, additional supporting elements are mounted from the rails perpendicular to those that were installed earlier. In the middle of the transverse elements, you can additionally install another rail to keep the soffit stronger.

    To the rail, which is installed along the perimeter of the walls, a finishing strip is fixed. Such strips are used wherever spotlights will be installed.

    Note: to facilitate the joining of the planks, a piece is cut off on one of them, on which the mounting holes are located, and one bar is inserted into the other.

    If necessary, soffits are trimmed to allow for thermal expansion.

    Then the spotlights are simply inserted into the finishing strips until a characteristic click, which means that the connection is made correctly.

    The trimmed bar is fixed to the corner located inside. Then, in a similar way, cut it from the outside and mount it.

    The panels in this section of the structure are installed as follows: one of them is fixed to the previous one using a locking mechanism, then the corner is marked and other corner panels are installed.

    Note: spotlights can be installed in two ways: herringbone or straight. In the second case, the H-profile is installed parallel to the spotlights.

Installation of spotlights and accessories is quite simple, and if you carefully understand its principles, you will surely be able to cope with the work yourself. Thus, you will save a decent amount of money, since the work of professional installers is not cheap.

Making a house beautiful and neat is not difficult, even doing the work yourself, for this you will need siding, installation accessories, as well as a set simple tools. Following a certain order and several simple rules By applying the appropriate classes of profiles and additional finishing elements, it is possible to significantly improve both the appearance and characteristics of a residential building in a fairly short period of time.

General information about works and tools

To sheathe a house with siding, in the general case, you will need to make a crate. This stage of work can be omitted if the building is made of wooden beam and the wall is flat. In any other cases, using metal profiles or wooden slats you will need to create a base to which the siding will be attached.

Insulation is laid in the space between the elements of the crate (attached to metal brackets to the wall or in another way), if you want at the same time as exterior trim significantly reduce heat loss in the house, get rid of problems with damp walls, freezing, mold formation inside the premises. Metallic profile, which is used when installing drywall - convenient when creating an external crate. However, the cost of such a solution is incomparably higher than that of the option with simple wooden planks.

Work with siding is done with the help of several tools, so as not to divide all the devices into groups, we give common list what you need to make the crate and sheathe the house with siding.

  1. Hacksaw, if you plan to use wooden planks of the crate.
  2. Hacksaw for cutting profiles, siding panels, connecting and other components are also processed with its help.
  3. A portable circular saw is extremely useful for working with metal siding.
  4. A drill is required to fasten the panels, a puncher is also useful for mounting the crate.
  5. Tape measure, metal ruler, chalk, marker.
  6. Construction level-ruler, as well as a rope plumb line to determine the vertical when placing elements.
  7. Hammers different weight, screwdriver, awl, knife, metal shears, pliers and other familiar, so to speak, accessories for various small jobs.

For the successful completion of the work you will need fasteners different type, the characteristics of which will depend on the habits of the performer of the work. For example, the crate can be mounted with euro nails or sets of new settlers.

The only requirement for self-tapping screws for installing siding panels is that they must have a flat clamping head.

Finishing is carried out under the condition of strict observance of safety regulations. It is necessary to use a fully serviceable tool for installing siding, fasten the crate and cut parts with goggles, installation of panels (especially metal ones) is carried out with gloves, plastic components for connection, docking and other operations are cut without excessive pressure on the knife, carefully.

Excellent results are achieved if the machining operations of parts (panels, special profiles) are carried out on a small workbench, stable table or other free and convenient surface.

Three basic rules to follow when installing components

The general workflow is quite simple: siding panels are installed in rows from the bottom up, trimming may be required. individual elements to form the required row length. Some species metal finish must be mounted vertically, they are specially designed for such placement. When installing vinyl siding, follow these simple rules:

  • the material is subject to thermal deformation, therefore it is necessary to leave horizontal gaps of the order of 4-6 mm when installed in various, special profiles;
  • siding panels are screwed loosely, the gap between the flat clamping head of the screw and the surface of the part should be about one and a half millimeters;
  • installation of long panels is carried out in the following order: the edges are fixed, the center, then the screws are screwed in from the middle to the edges.

These three main rules will allow you to properly clad any facade and ensure that the surface looks perfect in any temperature fluctuations.

What special accessories are needed for installation

Siding is installed only with the use of special connecting profiles. However, some companies insist that only the product of their production is used. This requirement must be complied with, as violation entails the loss of the guarantee for the facing material.

After the question of what tools for installing siding will be required for the work has been considered, you can proceed to the description of various special profiles. They will definitely be required, because with their help:

  • external and internal corners are formed;
  • the initial line of installation of finishing is set;
  • window and door openings are made;
  • protection of the roof edge is made;
  • installed decorative cladding in the area of the protruding edges of the roof.

The cost of special profiles is quite high, so you need to carefully calculate what you need to cover the house with siding. At the same time, it is worth remembering that all elements can be increased in length, and some can be replaced, allowing you to reduce the waste of financial resources.

The element from which all siding installation begins is the starting bar. It is mounted at the bottom of the wall, its position is carefully checked for level to ensure the quality of the cladding.

Calculating the number of required profiles is quite simple, for this you will need to calculate the perimeter of the house and subtract from it the doorways and areas where it is not planned to install siding. It depends on the correct installation of the starting bar how accurately further laying will be carried out, as well as how neat the sheathing as a whole will look.

For the design of external and internal corners, special components are used, into which the edges of the panels are inserted. Working with the elements is simple: using siding installation tools, the corner profile is checked for vertical position and screwed into place.

When installing the panel in a profile, it is required to provide a gap of 4-6 mm. Making oblique corners is also not difficult. When installing the connecting element in a blunt area, you can slightly straighten the profile. Similarly, when making an acute angle, it is enough to compress the part during installation.

The length of the corner components is three meters. This is extremely convenient if a one-story building is sheathed. To determine the required number of profiles, it is enough to calculate the corresponding angles. If the height of the walls is less or more, determine the total length and divide by three. In this case, a margin should be given for docking when building. To ensure the desired length of the connecting element, the following operations are performed:

  • from the sides, in the area of \u200b\u200bthe slots for fasteners, 3 cm of the shelf is cut off;
  • during installation, the stackable part finds on the already installed part by 20-25 mm.

It is important to know

When increasing the length, it is necessary to follow the same rule for compensating for thermal expansion: a gap of 5 mm is provided between the edges of the shelves.

Profile inner corner can also be used to decorate the roof cornice in the area of its connection with the wall surface.

To ensure a pleasant appearance, the roof eaves are finished. For this, special components are designed, which are called spotlights and a wind bar, a board. Their installation is carried out in the profile of the inner corner, which is mounted on the wall. On the opposite edge, the spotlights are protected by a finishing strip.

In some cases, when finishing the flat surface of the protruding part of the roof in the longitudinal direction, a J-chamfer and a edging strip are used. The purpose of the latter is to provide both convenient installation and smooth transition between the roof surface and the facade.

For docking individual flat zones for laying panels horizontally and vertically, a connecting strip is used, it is also an H-profile. This class of components is simple and understandable, it is used if the length of the walls of the building is greater than maximum dimension siding strip at 3.66 m.

The plank is mounted on the crate, depending on the direction of the docking line, the verticality or horizontal position is checked using a building profile.

The element can also be extended in length, while the rules and technique are the same as described for increasing the corner connector.

J-profile is recommended for use in areas where walls of different buildings are connected, a height difference is formed, roofs are finished different levels. However, this element can successfully replace other special profiles.

For example:

  • the inner corner is easy to shape by installing two J-strips. In this case, one part of the skin (corner shelf) is first mounted, the element is installed and panels are inserted into it. After that, the second J-profile is mounted on the second shelf as close as possible to the first. And at the last stage, the second joint surface is sheathed with siding;
  • making an outer corner with a J-profile is easier. The slats are simply set as precisely as possible, with the front surface of one being in line with the front surface of the other. After that, the joining surfaces are sheathed, the siding panels are inserted into the already mounted J-profile.

Since the cost of the considered strips is much lower than the connecting corner profiles, using them it is easy to slightly reduce the cost of sheathing.

Considering that there are different sizes of J-profile on sale, you can perform other work using this class special accessories, especially if in question about working with metal siding.

Registration of door and window openings, plinth

Windows and doors are framed with a special window trim. The quantity of this profile must be taken with a margin in order to ensure installation with an overlay, hiding the docking zones. Similarly, tides will be needed to decorate the window.

A drain bar will be required to decorate the basement of the house. It is installed around the perimeter, serves to drain water. If the width of the bar, which is 40 mm, is not enough to complete the task, ebbs are installed at the end of the basement area.

The finish strip is an almost universal profile that is designed to protect the end of the siding and provide a neat appearance to the edge of the sheathing area.

This element can be installed both in the areas where the walls of different buildings join, and in the area where the wall and roof are connected, in any places where it is required to shape and fix the edge of the panels.

A separate class of special components are the so-called corner systems. This is a ready-made complex of profiles that forms a neat, ready-to-place decorative elements protruding block.

Depending on the size of the corner system, soffits, siding pieces, or parts specifically designed for use with a particular component can be mounted in it.

Conclusion

Today, many siding manufacturers will offer other elements that facilitate the process of cladding a house.

It is very convenient to work with decorative finishing (they are also facing) slats, window profiles of increased width, and various kinds of platbands.

However, in order to qualitatively sheathe the house with siding, it is enough to use the listed elements and guarantee the durability and neat appearance of the facade finish.

AT modern world siding has gained great importance for the design of the facades of both old houses and new buildings. However, when purchasing material, one should not forget about the various fittings that are made to complete the cladding using siding. Various components fulfill their intended purpose, have different sizes and they can also be installed by hand. Let's take a closer look at what siding accessories exist.

General information about siding

Siding for the exterior design of buildings in Russia began to be used in the 90s. The very idea of protecting a building from adverse influences came from North America. However, not only the protective properties made the cladding so popular - the beautiful appearance of the house after the installation is completed delights everyone. Now the material market is so large that you can choose different textures and imitations, as well as shades of panels. For lovers of naturalness, there are panels with imitation of various types of wood, and for conservatism, you can buy vinyl panels painted in any color that suits you.

Siding is typical long term service, which definitely justifies its price. In addition, the care of the facade is quite simple, because you can wash the walls with a soapy solution or just with a hose. The installation technology allows you to do all the installation work yourself, this is a huge advantage for those who want to save on cladding. When using high-quality elements, the service life of the finish can exceed 50 years. When purchasing the material and its components, you should pay attention not only to the uniformity of color, but even cuts and holes for fasteners. It is better to purchase all components simultaneously with siding and from the same manufacturer, because when buying additional elements from different manufacturers, the sizes and shades of materials may not match.

Important! Since the material has the properties of plasticity, when it is checked and bent, it must restore its original shape. Due to this property and its strength, siding is able to withstand various mechanical and atmospheric influences.

Types of components

Since there are varieties of siding a large number of, then components are produced for each type. You can purchase both clinker siding and a block house that imitates wooden frame and herringbone siding, as well as vertical panels, which, unfortunately, are not in demand among consumers. Despite the large number of types and different sizes of material, the specifics of base preparation and installation are almost the same for everyone.

Important! It is necessary to purchase not only high-quality siding, but also components for it. After all, the subsequent service of the entire cladding depends on this and the correct installation. Protection of walls from destruction will be carried out only when correct installation siding.

On the this moment There is such a list of components:

  1. H-profile - used to connect panels
  2. J-bevel - this is the so-called wind board, which is located under the roof
  3. J-profile
  4. Inner corner
  5. outside corner
  6. starting bar
  7. J-profile is wide - I also call it a platband
  8. Window plank
  9. finish plank

All additional materials affect overall quality facade design. They are simply necessary if you decide to revet your house with siding. Unfinished window or door openings will detract from the overall appearance of the home.

We install materials with our own hands

Before starting the installation of siding, it is necessary to fix the starting bar, which runs along the perimeter of the entire house and is a guide for the first panel. Since later this plank will be covered with panels, it can be installed from scraps and even have a different color. Set your starting profile with a level and take your time Special attention, since in the future it will affect the entire finish.

All corners must be installed in front of the main panels. If you are using vinyl siding, then do not worry about the presence of sharp or obtuse corners in your house. Thanks to good properties flexibility, such profiles can be fixed at any corners. When installing the H-profile, you should accurately measure the attachment point.

When you need to arrange a window space, you should immediately choose a method:

  • Mounting in one plane is possible - along the perimeter there is a J-profile, into which siding panels enter
  • Together with the arrangement of the slope - in this case, the siding panel is slightly bent, after which it enters the J-profile without much effort

Before installing the last panel, you should install the finishing bar, then slightly bending the siding element, bring it into the profile and lock.

Accessories size chart

Since many are interested in the dimensions of the component materials, I compiled a small table where I wrote down all the standard sizes.

Important! Since there is even basement siding, you should calculate in advance the number of not only the main panels, but also the component elements. In addition, it is advisable to purchase 10% more than necessary, since trimming appears during the installation process.

Element type Dimensions
Finish profile (bar) Length 3,050 m
H-profile Length 3,050 m
outside corner 3.050 m
Inner corner 3.050 m
J-profile 3.050 m
Flexible J-profile 3.810 m
Slope Length 3.660 m

Working width(RS) 0.254 m

Soffit (solid) Length 3,050 m

Usable area 0.93 sq.m

Soffit (perforated) Length 3,050 m

PL 0.933 sq.m

Soffit (central perforation) Length 3,050 m

PL 0.933 sq.m

Molding 3.050 m
J-bevel Length 3,050 m
platband 3.660 m
Low tide 3.550 m
Peri-window profile 3.660 m
Start profile 3.050 m
Edge profile 3.050 m

As you can see, the dimensions of the components are very similar, since these are planks, they are almost the same length and are cut using special tools. Despite the fact that glossy fittings are more attractive, it is still better to exclude them. Glossy elements heat up more under open sun than materials with a matte surface.

All purchased accessories must be of high quality and correspond to standard sizes. Only a good docking of all elements, without the formation of gaps, will allow the finish to perform well all its protective functions. AT hardware store sales specialists will help you make a choice and calculation necessary materials, therefore, before processing documents, it is worth calculating right amount siding. Always check the quality certificate for the product and if necessary read the installation instructions for all panels and fasteners. Even a beginner who has not previously encountered such processes can do the installation of siding with his own hands, because for this it is enough to study the sequence and technology of fixing all the elements.

If you are facing the facade of the house, take a closer look at the siding. This coating can withstand a wide range of temperatures, high humidity, UV exposure and other factors without loss of quality and color. The service life of the material can reach 50 years.

Material types

Pictured is wood siding.

The instruction says that siding is both external and internal wall cladding, consisting of planks and installed on a supporting frame. The homeland of the coating is North America, there the facades are the same and two-storey houses began to sheathe wood paneling in the 19th century.

However, production methods do not stand still, and wood is constantly becoming more expensive in price. Based on this, in the 60s of the 20th century, PVC siding appeared with the addition of dyes and modifiers that make the finish more reliable and durable.

At the moment, the following types of material are known:

  • wooden panels;
  • analogues from vinyl;
  • metal slats;
  • polymer-cement coating.

Note!
The most reliable and easiest way to ennoble and protect the facade from atmospheric influences is to clad the walls with do-it-yourself PVC siding.
It is easy to install, old walls do not need to be cleaned of plaster, paint.
This lining is durable, well resists temperature extremes, moisture resistant, does not rot, easy to clean.
Vinyl is relatively inexpensive.

Accessories for vinyl flooring

In addition to the panels themselves, accessories are needed to install the coating. The table below describes these siding extensions and their uses.

Facing works

Before you start laying siding, you need to determine the amount of materials.

Material calculation

  1. The best option is to buy material whose length will be slightly longer than the long side of the house.
  2. In this regard, it should be noted that largest size standard panels - six meters. The width of such planks is 22.9 cm, and the area is 1.37 square meters.
  3. Next, working drawings of the house are drawn up, one for each of its four walls. Schemes must contain all dimensions of the building.

Note!
Then, before you install the siding with your own hands, according to this drawing, you need to decide where and which strips to mount.
It will also show you how best to distribute the trim.

  1. When calculating the volume the right material, the area of all external walls at home, not forgetting the door and window openings.
  2. In addition, it is necessary to calculate and take into account the area of the gables, as well as the required volume of additional elements, fasteners, metal profiles for arranging the frame.
