Putty LR vetonit goes on concrete. Putty "Vetonit" - description, consumption, properties, cost

Hello dear visitors! This time we will get acquainted with a whole phenomenon in the world finishing materials. The hero of the day today will be putty, whose name for craftsmen has long been a household name - putty Vetonit (weber.vetonit LR+).

Right now in construction stores Dozens, if not hundreds of types of various putties are presented: gypsum, cement, polymer. But two brands stand apart, they are available always and everywhere, and have been producing them for more than a dozen years. Yes, yes, the first one is Vetonit. And what is the second one? If you are a decorator, then you probably know the answer.

This is sheetrock. There will also be a separate article about him. This item is very, very high quality. In order not to miss the material about, subscribe to updates, the post will be very useful for everyone!

But for now, we are talking about the weber.vetonit LR+ product.

That is what they mean when they say "vetonit". This is a finishing putty on a polymer binder. What does "finish" mean? And the fact that after its application, wallpaper and / or painting, that is, finishing coatings, already go directly.

In other words, such a mixture forms a high-quality coating, ready for painting and wallpapering. As for the binder. Any building mixture consists of a filler and a binder. The aggregate is usually sand, limestone is what forms the bulk of the composition. And the binder holds the aggregate particles together and, of course, provides adhesion to the base surface. In this putty, the binder is a kind of polymer glue, and limestone serves as a filler.

Our hero is produced by Weber-Vetonit, part of the Saint-Gobain group. Packed in paper bags of 25 and 5 kg.

Basic properties

The purpose of this putty mixture is to level walls and ceilings in dry rooms before wallpapering and painting. It is used on all types of smooth surfaces made of mineral materials and drywall. Formally, it has a white (in practice, slightly grayish) color, as well as its own weak specific smell.

By the way, it costs in our village (Ryazan is called, you may have heard) in the region of 650-700 rubles for 25 kg.

It should be remembered that it is not moisture resistant, not suitable as a base for laying tiles and as an adhesive for anything. For example, some people manage to glue ceiling plinths on it. This cannot be done. Its structure is rather loose and fragile, which, however, does not affect its ability to hold wallpaper on itself, but can play a fatal role when trying, for example, to seal the joints of the Civil Code sheets with it.

Water consumption is 9 liters per 25 kg bag. The mixture is stirred with a drill or puncher with a mixer to the state of sour cream, after which it is allowed to infuse for 10 minutes. This time is needed for better dissolution of the binder. It is noticed that after these 10 minutes the mixture thickens a little. Then it is re-mixed.

Again, a separate article will be published about the technique of puttying walls and ceilings, the topic is very important, so subscribing to updates is a sacred thing!)) The article will contain a couple of my know-how, and I will just use Vetonit. And now it's time to find out what are the secrets of his popularity?

The main advantages of weber.vetonit LR+

I counted three of them:

  1. Ease of application with almost complete absence of layer differences. If desired and with due skill, you can putty the surface under the wallpaper so that grinding is not required at all.
  2. If necessary, the putty is very easy to grind due to its somewhat looseness. And this is very important. For example, plaster universal putty from Knauf) just a star is polished how hard. When I first tried Vetonit after him, I was amazed - no effort.
  3. Marvelous long term life. If you have mixed too much putty and do not have time to work it all out, just cover the container with it with a lid. The next day, she will be waiting for you in the same condition in which you left her. It has been verified that for 2-3 days she calmly waits in the wings in a bucket, ready to go. You just need to stir it again.

Of course, the hero of the article also has a drawback. It's the lack of moisture resistance.

Let's say we are wallpapering. They glued the strip, when they suddenly noticed a jam or a bubble that just couldn’t be smoothed out. Needs to be removed and re-glued. So, there is some probability that the strip will be partially removed along with the putty. To be honest, this has never happened to me yet, because I carefully prime the surface before and after puttying, plus I apply it in a certain way so that it lies more densely. But such cases are known. But I don't know of any other disadvantages.

Unless I can recommend using it for painting. Still, his fraction is too big for this, and visually the surface turns out to be rougher than when using Sheetrock. But after all, I am a sophisticated user, for you, such a surface is likely to be more than acceptable. Once I had to paint the ceiling on the loggia according to Vetonit (there was no choice), I carefully sanded it and covered it with two layers of white paint. From the floor, I did not see even the slightest defects. Here is the ceiling:

To date, putty is the most popular way to finish walls and load-bearing structures. Before the main decoration, the surface is carefully processed, one of these stages is the application of putty. In fact, this is the standard alignment of the base using special building mixtures. According to experts, Vetonit putty rightfully bears the title of the best solution for wall decoration. Compared with other analogues, it has a lot of advantages, distinctive specifications and performance properties.

Applying putty is a very time-consuming process, however, the use of high-quality products makes it possible to simplify the puttying of walls, and also contributes to faster drying of the coating (regardless of the number of layers).

Vetonit Weber is a famous collection consisting of individual putty modifications. The most popular is Vetonit lr putty. Due to its unique composition, it is used for finishing plastered, concrete walls and ceilings, as well as plasterboard partitions.

In most cases, Weber Vetonit putties are used for external design walls, as well as a base for painting or wallpapering (for example, putty Vetonit kr). There is also a facade putty designed to level the walls outside buildings (facades).

As noted above, this series presents different types putties, differing from each other in their composition and direct purpose. However, aggregates and binders (oil or otherwise) are an integral part of all putties in this series. That is, there are two complementary components, due to which an unpretentious material structure is obtained in use.

Most of the putty composition is occupied by filler (limestone), while polymer glue acts as a connecting element.

Solution preparation

To prepare the putty that is optimal in structure and consistency, dilute the dry mixture with water in accordance with the proportions indicated on the package. The result should be a homogeneous mass of medium density.

Before you dilute the putty mixture, you should know that water must be added to the solution in portions, while its temperature should be approximately equal to 20 degrees.

There are some professional advice to be followed:

  • After the finished putty is a little infused (within 10-15 minutes) and acquires a more uniform texture, it should be thoroughly mixed again with a construction mixer.
  • After mixing the solution until the putty is applied, no more than 24 hours should pass, otherwise the mixture will lose its properties and harden.
  • If there is still dry mix left in the package, it is recommended to store it in a cool (but dry) and dark place.

Putty application methods

Leveling the walls with putty is done in two ways:

  • mechanical spraying (using special equipment);
  • applying the putty mixture manually (spoilers of different sizes are used).

The latter option is more often applicable for putty polymeric materials. It all depends on the personal preferences and tasks of the person performing construction works. The putty layer should not exceed 5 mm, otherwise there is a long and uneven drying of the coating.

When applying several layers of putty, each subsequent one is applied only after the final hardening of the previous one.

Types of putties and their description

Putty Vetonit is represented by several types. Each product is distinguished by its unique composition and purpose. Thus, the following groups of materials can be distinguished:

  • VH, V, TT - with such marks, mixtures are produced for sale, which are made on the basis of cement. The materials of this group are excellent for any type of premises, they can be used in the bathroom, kitchen and bathroom (where there is high humidity).
  • LR and KR - these markings indicate that putty mixtures are intended for finishing the alignment of walls and ceilings, a coating is obtained that is suitable for subsequent painting or wallpapering. Materials of this group must not be used in rooms with increased level humidity.

Vetonite VH

This type of product is best suited for use in high humidity conditions. Putty Vetonit vh, in addition to its main task of preparing the surface for subsequent painting, performs a protective function - it prevents the appearance of condensate on ceilings and load-bearing structures in rooms with high humidity air.

Products are presented in two versions: in white and gray color. The white model of Vetonit vh putty is simply indispensable if the surface is planned to be painted. The second option is used as the primary layer before laying the tiles.

The main feature of this putty mixture is the possibility of using it on surfaces made from the most different materials. According to the instructions, finishing putty can be used on plastered, concrete, stone (brick) walls and bases made of expanded clay, foam concrete, gas silicate blocks.

Vetonit LR and LR+

Finishing putty Vetonit is in high demand in the building materials market, it has a unique composition, low cost and is easy to use. The Weber Vetonit lr putty model is designed for finishing dry rooms, therefore, compared to other brand products, it has a more viscous and dense structure. After applying the Vetonit finishing putty, they start pasting the walls with wallpaper or painting work using specialized highly pigmented paints.

It should be noted that this product is not suitable for leveling non-standard, three-dimensional planes, as well as large-sized objects. This is how most finishing compositions work, whose main task is to reduce the sharpness of the transitions between layers of plaster and paint and minimize surface irregularities. The white base putty is best suited for gypsum and chipboard surfaces.

Putty is available in different configurations, most often it can be found in powder version in 25 kg bags. You can also see the finished putty mixture, which does not need to be diluted with water.

There is also a product Vetonit LR+. This is a polymer putty from this collection. Due to its unique composition, it is ideal for finishing ceilings and walls in dry rooms. This is the starting and most popular model. Its distinguishing characteristics are low consumption, fast drying, ease of use and very affordable price. The diluted composition can be applied over smooth or rough surfaces (plasterboard and mineral materials).

On the Internet you can find many positive feedback about the use of this product, with most buyers appreciating the low consumption of the material and its versatility. Puttying walls and ceilings with Vetonite allows you to prepare the surface for subsequent paint application.

Important! Putty Vetonit lr plus is usually applied by spraying on walls and ceilings made of plasterboard or chipboard. This starting mixture can also be used as an adhesive layer for the installation of GKL.

KR and TT products

Marking KR - means that the putty is finishing. Before its use, a starting solution of VH is first used. Putty Vetonit TT is a universal composition that can be used both as a starting and finishing coating. In addition, this material is also suitable for finishing facades.

How much material is needed for finishing?

The main criterion when choosing a means for puttying surfaces in living conditions is the cost of production. As for Weber putty, all models of this series have different viscosities. Thus, the version of Weber Vetonit lr putty, as well as individual modifications of Vetonit kr putty, have different consumption.

Before buying a putty mixture, you need to calculate required amount material. To make it clearer, consider the consumption of Vetonit kr putty as an example. When finishing walls, about 1.2 kg is spent on 1 m2 of surface ready solution, while seven liters of water are enough to dilute the mixture (this figure may vary, depending on the structure of the material).

Repair and construction work and puttying are interrelated concepts, since finishing work is unthinkable without leveling the walls with a pasty mixture - puttying. It is thanks to this composition that the walls have a perfect, ideal look, on which you can subsequently glue wallpaper, apply decorative plaster. Today, manufacturers offer a huge amount of putty on the construction market, and in order to figure out which one is the most suitable for repairs, you should heed the advice of experts.

Peculiarities

Very often, when choosing a tool for processing and leveling walls in stores, a person is at a loss - on packages mineral mixtures on a binder basis, there are two different names: putty and putty.

Powdered (or in the form of a paste) mixture, which includes gypsum, mineral fillers, chalk and wood glue is called putty. Manufacturers offer types of this building material with different composition:

  • based on latex components;
  • oil;

oily

Latex based

  • oil-adhesive;
  • acrylic.

Acrylic

Oil-glue

Depending on the composition, the putty is used only for internal or external works. The principle of using putty is similar, and it should be noted that there is no fundamental difference between these names.

Experts in the construction industry consider Weber Vetonit one of the best putties. The manufacturer of this building material is rightfully considered world famous - it is a subsidiary of the Saint-Gobain industrial group, formed back in 1900.

To date, Weber is a leader in the production of dry building mixtures. The company's enterprises are present in all parts of the world, producing a range of products for construction and repair work.

Undoubted advantages of Weber Vetonit putty:

  • the mixture is made from ecological raw materials - it does not emit toxic substances;
  • moisture resistance - it is used even in the construction of pools;
  • the composition is powdery, so the surface of the treated wall becomes perfectly smooth;
  • a snowflake drawn on the packaging of the mixture indicates that it can be used at low temperatures for facade decoration;
  • the composition in diluted form can be stored for a day.

Types and composition

Vetonit putty is used at the final stage finishing works before directly gluing wallpaper or decorating with decorative plaster. The basis for putty is the ceiling and a smooth surface, not necessarily concrete, but also plasterboard. The main factor for such a process is the presence of a dry surface, since otherwise yellow spots will appear through the putty.

The main composition of the Vetonit dry mix is aggregate (limestone) and binder. However, some types of putty are slightly different from each other. First of all, you should pay attention to the designations used by manufacturers: mixtures marked LR are used only for dry rooms, VH - in rooms with high humidity.

In the list of building mixtures there are two types with similar names: Weber. Vetonit LR and Weber. Vetonit LR+silk.

  • putty Weber. Vetonit LR- This is a paste that is the most popular mixture for treating surfaces that are going to be wallpapered or painted. It perfectly levels the walls, but is used only in dry, heated rooms. Vetonit LR is not a moisture resistant material and is not suitable for laying tiles. Polymer glue is used here as a binder. Putty is ideally applied to the surface and without much effort. Retains its properties after dilution with water for more than a day.

  • Weber. Vetonit LR+silkperfect solution for finishing walls and ceiling of the room. The mixture is very quickly diluted and applied in a thin layer. It is distinguished by increased whiteness, for which it was nicknamed "white silk". Experts believe that it is the most convenient to use.
  • Vetonit TT- a universal composition used for starting and finishing. The basis of the mixture is cement. It can be used both indoors and outdoors. It is frost-resistant and not afraid of water. Putty is also applied as a base coat and before tiling. Diluted with water and mixed with a drill. The resulting solution must be used within three hours. Sold in a three-layer paper bag weighing 25 kg.

After applying the first layer, it is necessary to wait for its complete drying and hardening - this usually happens after 1-2 days.

  • Packaging marked KR used for final (finishing) work before wallpapering or painting walls. Packed in bags of 5 and 20 kg. It is used only in dry rooms, it is ideally applied in thin layers up to 3 mm. The binding element in this composition is an organic-based adhesive, which explains the specific smell during application. After drying, the smell disappears. Diluted, Vetonit KR can be stored for 30 hours in an open container and twice as long in a closed container.

  • Moisture resistant putty Weber. Vetonit VH perfect for both outdoor and internal works. Easy to apply on concrete and foam concrete. The paste prevents the appearance of condensation on the ceiling, so it is widely used in rooms where there is moisture. Plus, the manufacturer Weber offers for full complex finishing works intertile grouting of various color shades cement based.

Grout is used in work with any tiles and mosaics: floor and wall. This material is frost-resistant and does not pollute the surface of the tile.

Specifications

High-quality mixtures from Vetonit have a lot of advantages compared to analogues from other manufacturers. First of all, these are their technical characteristics, or rather, methods of diluting putties.

First of all, it is necessary to dilute the powder with water in the required proportions. It depends on the thickness of the applied paste on the surface of the walls. In some cases, it is from 0.5 mm to 3 mm, in others the putty should be thicker.

Breeding putty

It is necessary to correctly calculate the number of packages of the mixture for the room. For example, when using a white polymer mixture - Vetonit LR Fine superfinishing putty for ceilings and walls in dry rooms - the consumption per 1 m2 will be 1.2 kilograms of the mixture.

The mixture itself must be dissolved in water not entirely, but in portions. The water should not be very cold - about 20 degrees is enough. Then you need to wait until the mixture is infused. After that, it must be thoroughly mixed again with a special mixer or an ordinary drill.

The mixture is applied in two ways:

  • using special equipment by mechanical spraying;
  • manually, applying the finished mixture to a spatula and rubbing it over the surface of the walls.

In any case, the finished layer of plaster should not exceed 5 mm, otherwise it will dry for a long time, and the next stage of work will have to be postponed.

In order not to make a mistake in choosing, you should pay attention to appearance mixtures. According to GOST "Vetonit" can be gray or white color. The differences are explained by the composition of the mixture - if it contains gypsum, limestone or finely ground marble, then the mixture will be lighter. It is necessary to pay attention to the expiration date, which the manufacturer indicates on the packaging itself - it should not exceed 18 months.

Application by hand

Application by mechanical means

Scope of application

The manufacturing company offers modern customers whole complex solutions in the field of construction: from the starting and finishing coating of walls to the insulation of facades.

All types of putties produced at the company's factories are ideal for finishing work indoors and on its facade.

Most of the mixtures are made on the basis of polymer components that are binders in ready-made. After the putty is applied to the wall or ceiling, it hardens, after which you can glue wallpaper on it or simply paint the surface.

Depending on which putty is chosen: for dry rooms or rooms with high humidity, Vetonit will provide the ideal appearance of the treated surfaces. After the walls have dried, they can be finished with tiles, glass or plastic.

Putty is also used for high-quality sealing of drywall slabs, on the surface of which cracks are then excluded.

After the process of puttying the walls is completed, the room may appear bad smell. However, it will fade as soon as the mixture dries. This feature is inherent in many materials for construction work.

In this article, we will cover the topic of how to quickly, efficiently and effectively carry out one of the most popular repairs - preparing a wall or ceiling for painting or wallpapering.
It would seem that quite simple work, but often masters face a number of problems.

Plaster

Problem: the appearance of cracks, falling off of the plaster from the surface (may appear several years after the repair).

Solution: observe the drying time of the previous layer (1-2 days), do not apply too thick layers at a time, the most important thing is to choose high-quality mixtures with good fillers and binders.

Finishing putty

Problem: the complexity of working with the material, putty does not stretch well for a spatula, therefore, to create even coverage considerable skill is required even from professionals, while the finish is slightly grayish, grainy. When sanding, it is very dusty, the graininess does not disappear.

Solution: choose better quality finishing putties. They are easier to apply, even non-professionals can work with them, and the consumption of the product is less, since it is easier to “stretch” it along the wall. The coating is much more even, there are almost no visible defects; when sanding, such putty almost does not produce dust.

To show by example how to properly prepare a wall for painting or wallpapering, we have chosen products popular among professionals: moisture resistant cement plaster weber.vetonit TT, finishing white putty weber.vetonit LR+ and ready-made superfinish putty weber.vetonit LR pasta. WEBER-VETONIT products were not chosen by chance, this brand is well-deservedly popular among craftsmen and end users due to the quality of materials and ease of use.

We prepare the base

In our case, the surface to be processed has a number of problems: from a large number local defects on the surface to a significant deviation of the wall from the vertical plane.

Before starting work, it is imperative to prepare the surface: we remove substances such as dust, grease and dirt that impair adhesion, the base must be clean and dry. We protect all surfaces that cannot be processed (windows, doors, frames) with adhesive tape, polyethylene or newspapers.

Carrying out basic leveling of the surface

We prepare the solution according to the instructions: dry mix weber.vetonit TT pour 25 kg from a bag into a bucket with 5-6 liters of clean water, mix for 3-5 minutes using a drill with a nozzle, let the solution settle for 10 minutes and mix again.

After that, we apply the plaster mixture to the surface manually using a steel spatula or mechanically. Each layer of weber.vetonit TT dries within 1-2 days, and the next layer of plaster can be applied only after the previous one has completely dried. In dry conditions, it is recommended to moisten the leveled surface with water from a spray bottle.

After the leveling process is completed, we process the dried surface with sanding paper and remove dust.

Note that if we are talking about smooth walls or plasterboard ceilings, then the stage of processing the walls with plaster can be skipped, and immediately proceed to surface treatment with a white finishing putty.

We carry out the final coating

white solution finishing putty weber.vetonit LR+ prepare according to the instructions: pour the dry mixture from a 25 kg bag into a bucket with 8-9 liters of clean water (not vice versa), mix with a drill for 3-5 minutes, let it stand for 10 minutes, and mix again.

As a result, we get a superplastic mixture, which is very convenient to apply on the surface with a thin layer 1-5 mm thick, both with a steel spatula and mechanically. Depending on the temperature and humidity in the room, one layer of weber.vetonit LR+ putty dries completely in 1-2 days. Then small defects are very easily removed. sandpaper.

After the layer has completely dried, we process the surface with sanding paper and remove dust. If leveling is performed in several layers, each next layer can be applied only after the previous one has dried.

The benefits of putty weber.vetonit LR+

  • Just: putty is so plastic and easy to use that leveling the walls will not be difficult even for beginners, it is enough to follow the manufacturer's instructions and recommendations.
  • Fast: the superplasticity of the mixture allows you to quickly level the surface and ideally bring the layers together.
  • Smooth: the minimum number of layers makes it possible to get a smooth and even, ready for wallpapering.

In principle, treated walls top coat many masters recommend walls for traditional painting, but we will use one more innovative product to create a flawless, perfect smooth finish under high-quality painting.

We carry out a superfinishing coating for painting

If it's about the best repair, then the wall for painting should be mirror-smooth without the slightest graininess. To obtain such a surface, we will use an innovative high-quality product - a super-finish ready-made putty. weber.vetonit LR pasta
Weber.vetonit LR Pasta is available in a plastic bucket ready for application, so it is doubly convenient to work with. The principle of operation is the same as with the finishing putty, the difference lies in the thickness of the layers - as a rule, they do not exceed 1.5 mm in one application. After drying, the surface is processed with sanding paper and dusted.

Advantages of superfinish putty weber.vetonit LR pasta

  • Conveniently: weber.vetonit LR Pasta is ready to use.
  • Qualitatively: convenient application of thin layers of 0.2 - 3 mm.
  • Ideally: absolutely smooth and dazzling white surface for high-quality painting with glossy or semi-gloss paints.

Finish coat weber.vetonit LR+ and superfinishing paste weber.vetonit LR pasta work perfectly in pairs, allowing you to get an impeccable result on the surface.

The ideal smoothness and evenness of the surface is comparable to a sheet of paper, previously such repair results were impossible or extremely difficult, but today it is simple and affordable.

Vetonit is well superimposed on gypsum and cement surfaces, drywall, porous surfaces of chipboard and fiber panels. This putty is perfect if you plan to finish the interior of the house from logs.

Before puttying with Vetonite, the surface to be treated must be cleaned of all substances that reduce the adhesiveness of the base (dust, dirt, grease) and thoroughly dried (i.e. if you plan to renovate a house in a cottage village, then start with a thorough cleaning).

Vetonite is produced in bags weighing 25 kg (consumption with a layer thickness of 1 mm 1.2 kg / sq.m)). When preparing the solution (about 2 liters of clean water at room temperature is consumed per 5 kg of dry putty), dry putty is mixed with water using a construction mixer. In order to obtain a homogeneous, with dissolved binder, mortar, mixing dry putty and part required water perform for several minutes, then let stand for 15 minutes and mix again, adding the remaining water. Now the mixture can be used within 24 hours, making sure that its temperature does not fall below +10.

To coat the surface with Vetonite, use a spatula with two handles 70 cm wide or the spraying method (for treating wood surfaces). If puttying is carried out for the purpose of partial leveling (as is the case when finishing and repairing a country house), then a spatula 30 cm wide is suitable. In the case of a very dry surface, immediately before applying Vetonit, it can be moistened with water. Vetonite can be puttied both in one and in several passes (each new layer is superimposed on the completely dried previous layer of Vetonite).

Depending on the room temperature, ventilation and putty thickness, Vetonit dries completely within 1-2 days, after which it can be sanded, painted, wallpapered. When applying Vetonite to the surface of the ceiling, you can no longer perform any work.

The stains on Vetonite that appeared during the operation of the surface should disappear after treatment with a damp sponge.
In order not to clog the drains, do not throw the remains of the Vetonite solution into the sewer. Photo of interior decoration country house you can see on our page.

How to properly dilute putty so that it can be easily and simply worked with

In order to know how to properly dilute the putty, just read the instructions on the package. But to prepare a usable solution, you can neglect some of the instructions. In construction stores, you can buy both ready-to-use types of putties and dry mixes that must first be diluted with water - the latter type will be discussed in this article.

Simple instructions on how to properly dilute putty

Among putty mixtures There are two main types: start and finish. The start is intended for a rough initial leveling of surfaces, while the finish is the final stage before decorative trim. How to dilute the putty also depends on the type of mixture. For example, the starting one dissolves very easily, it is easier to mix it, while the finishing one will take a little longer. To work with it, you will need the following tools:

Ideally clean container with a volume of no more than 10 liters.
Electric drill with a whisk attachment.
In principle, all manufacturers instructions are identical. Only parameters such as the amount of dry mix and water can change. Pour into a container (bucket) clean water, we measure desired weight putty and for the time indicated on the package, mix the contents. As a rule, after this, the mixture should be left alone for a while, and then thoroughly mixed again. This is done in order to make the mass more homogeneous.

However, experienced painters almost never follow the instructions, and here's why. The fact is that the manufacturer indicates the ratio of water and putty, which, according to certain signs considered the most optimal. But not always and not everywhere the consistency of the material may be suitable for certain works. For example, for a thicker application of putty, a thicker solution is required. In this case, it will not float off the wall. Or vice versa, if you need to quickly fix something before the main layer is dry, a more liquid batch is made. Builders certainly know how to putty.

If you decide on experiments of this kind, then you should remember that a more viscous mass solidifies faster than a liquid one. Moreover, the setting time is divided unevenly. At first you will notice a slight compaction of the putty, which can still be worked on. And this will continue for some time, after which the solution will rapidly begin to solidify. That is why there is no need to arrange any “smoke breaks” while the diluted putty remains in the bucket: upon returning, you may find that it is only possible to clean it off with a spatula, and washing out the container will turn into a rather long and tedious task. There is a waste of both time and money.

How to work with putty - everything is not so scary

If this is the first time you are going to putty on your own, then right away you probably will not succeed. The material will either treacherously fall from the spatula to the floor, or you will leave such "art" on the wall (or God forbid, on the ceiling) that it will take more than one hour to correct them.

For work, spatulas with a blade width of about 300 and a length of about 150 mm are needed. These are perfect sizes for beginners.
However, do not rush to putty immediately. To begin with, knead a little putty, use a small spatula to draw a mass about the size of a fist and try to transfer it from one spatula to another. This must be done so that the material does not fall to the floor, and when removed from the blade, the tool would remain practically clean.

If everything works out, you can try already on the wall. Putty must be applied at a certain angle. The larger it is, the thinner the applied layer will be. Do not forget to shift the putty from spatula to spatula each time. This is done not only for the convenience of work - in this way there is an additional mixing of the mass, and it becomes more plastic and homogeneous.

A few "putty secrets"

You already know how to make putty, and even how to work with it. And now it's time to reveal a couple useful secrets. Novice craftsmen often face the problem of non-production of the mixed mass. Do not be lazy and immediately knead a large bucket. Make a third, and then the putty will not harden at the wrong time, and it will be easier to wash the tools. Speaking of tools. The key to comfortable work and a good result is a perfectly clean bucket, spatula and construction mixer. If particles of the old get into the new batch, scratches on the walls cannot be avoided.

If the putty still starts to harden, and you feel that you won’t have time to work it out, you can try to “save” it. Add some cold water to the bucket and quickly mix the mass. For some time, everything will be quite remarkable, but after such manipulations, if a seizure occurs, then it occurs almost instantly. At room temperature, you will have approximately 10 minutes to work out the material. By the way, putty hardens faster at elevated temperatures than at low temperatures (within reasonable limits, of course).

Adviсe

Starting putty on this moment is an indispensable material for cosmetic and overhaul and is the penultimate instance in the interior decoration of the premises. It's no secret that the starting putty is made from several components. The two most important components of which the starting putty consists of gypsum and lime, the remaining components of the starting putty are binders chemical substances, without harm to human health, and of course for other inhabitants. It is the starting putty that differs from other types of putty by its grinding of the main components of the starting putty. The grinding of the gypsum and lime fraction in the starting putty is 80 MPa, such grinding is considered large compared to the finishing putty and medium grinding compared to the grinding of the plaster mixture. The maximum layer of application of the starting putty is one and a half centimeters, this is quite enough to cover visible defects on the plaster, such as shallow depressions, cracks and thoroughly level the surface.
Preparing the base for applying the starting putty.

As with any other work with mixtures, first of all, you need to clean the base from poorly adhering parts of the wall, for example, such as: falling off part of the plaster, knocked out pieces of concrete, crumbling parts of the wall, fungal base, hesitant or baying parts of the base should be dismantled before applying the starting putties. The BASIC rule that every builder should know is that the base must be primed before applying the starting putty !!! The base is primed before the starting putty is applied thoroughly and it is desirable that the primer be of the same company as the putty, the setting of the putty with the wall depends on this. It was just that there were cases when work was carried out with the starting putty of one company, and the primer of another, and after that the places where the primer of another company was used, gave delamination from the walls of the starting putty, but when they worked with one type of raw material, such problems.
Mix and apply starting putty.

Before applying the starting putty, of course, it must be kneaded. The proportions of mixing the starting putty according to the technology are as follows: for 12 liters of water thirty kilograms of putty or for one kilogram of putty two, two and a half liters of water, which is not always suitable for working with volume, because you need to work quickly and there is not enough time for mixing proportions, and don't want to spend. So we pour water and boldly fall asleep putty until it appears on top of the water small slide starting putty. I would like to note that it is better to knead the starting putty with a wide whisk and knead until lumps disappear in the putty and it turns into a homogeneous mass resembling sour cream. Here is the solution and ready to be applied to the wall or ceiling.

The starting putty is applied to the wall using a wide and narrow spatula. With a narrow spatula, we apply the starting putty on a wide one and with a wide spatula tightly pressed against the wall, apply putty. The technique for applying the starting putty is individual for each, and it can be applied in different ways, it all depends on the base and on the volumes. With an even base and large volumes, the starting putty is applied to the spatula in large portions and with sweeping strokes. It is applied to the wall from the bottom up and press the spatula as tightly as possible to the wall. We leave the divorces that turned out on the wall as they are, we just correct the solution and at the very bottom, together where the divorce turned out, we make a smear and so on throughout the wall. If you need to rise above the joints of the dried putty with a new layer, you don’t have to worry, the old layer of the joint is rubbed with a grout mesh. Read more about the use of the grout mesh here. If you need to put the starting putty on a small amount of surface, then you have to tinker a little and the hand should at least feel the application layer a little, or you will have to putty in several approaches and in several directions.

DIY

Wall putty.

Puttying walls without the involvement of specialists is not as difficult as it might seem. First you need to decide whether the surface of the walls is ready for puttying, or needs preliminary plastering. The fact is that putty is a finishing layer before the final decor of the room, whether it be (painting the walls in the apartment) or gluing wallpaper.

The finishing putty is applied in a very thin layer, 1-2 mm, therefore it is used to hide minor defects, such as small cracks or a porous concrete surface in prefabricated houses. If there are holes in the wall, for example, from a pulled out plastic or wooden dowel, then the putty will not hold in such a hole. The same applies to pieces of plaster that have fallen off and seams in brickwork or (drywall seams). In this case, you will need to plaster the walls with your own hands. Ideally, the surface for puttying should be absolutely flat. So, you can putty joints and holes with screws in drywall or plastered and leveled walls.

Before you start filling the walls with your own hands, the surface must be prepared. Old wallpaper is removed from the wall, peeled off old paint, grease and rust stains, dust and dirt. Then, using a conventional roller, the surface is primed with an antibacterial primer. deep penetration, this is done to further improve the adhesion of the putty to the wall and the shrinkage of construction dust. The primer dries very quickly, within 3-4 hours, so all work can be planned for one day.

In order to putty the walls with your own hands and strength, you will need two spatulas, the main one, with which the putty will be applied, and the auxiliary one, with which the putty is laid out from the container on the main one and its excess is cleaned off. It is advisable to take spatulas that are not very large, since it is easier to work with them in the absence of experience. The narrower the spatula, the more accurately the layer is obtained, the width of the main one should be within 20 cm. The putty can be selectively applied to places that require alignment or over the entire plane of the wall. To do this, the spatula is placed against the wall at an angle of 45 degrees and evenly stretches the putty over the entire surface with a smooth movement. Special attention is given to the corners, since there are cracks and irregularities most often. Do not worry about the fact that at the border of the wall and the putty layer, the latter turns out to be a little higher. All defects are then easily eliminated with sandpaper.

The putty dries up within a day, then a special grinding grater is taken, if there is none, then you can simply take a bar, wrap it with sandpaper, which is fixed on the bar with buttons or nails. The emery should not be very large, otherwise it will leave deep scratches on the wall. With this bar in a circular motion the entire putty surface is cleaned. Thus, it is leveled, and the transitions between the putty and the wall are erased. Perhaps this part of the work is more important than how to putty the walls. If you do not even out all the defects and transitions of the putty, then when (painting the walls) these places will catch your eye. The same applies to light wallpaper(under denser and darker defects in putty is not noticeable)

Putty "Vetonit LR +" and its scope

Putty Vetonit LR + (Vetonit LR) is based on a polymer adhesive binder of perfectly white color.

It is used for finishing ceilings and walls inside a dry room. The basis for finishing can be smooth surfaces made of minerals, gypsum surfaces, ceilings and walls made of gypsum boards, leveled surfaces with Vetonit putty or Vetonit TT brand. Walls and ceilings made of other boards, such as porous fiber boards or particle boards, can also be sprayed on.

It should be noted that this mixture cannot be used for leveling floors, and also used as an adhesive mortar or base for tiles. The putty is not suitable for wet and damp rooms, namely bathrooms and saunas, for use in sealing plasterboard joints and for use on various surfaces wet structures, as given material not waterproof enough. Putty Vetonit LR + (Vetonit LR) is only resistant to short-term exposure to moisture.

For achievement maximum effect When applying putty, the base to work on must be free of dust, hard and clean, and substances that weaken adhesion, such as dust, oil, etc., must be removed. Surfaces that are not treated must be carefully protected. The mixture must be applied on a dry surface, as excessive moisture can contribute to the yellowing of the leveled surface.

When mixing putty Vetonit LR + (Vetonit LR) with water, a homogeneous plastic mass is obtained, which is well applied to the main part of building bases and has long term operation. The latter circumstance is very important, since the result is a surface of excellent quality even when applying the mixture without certain professional skills. The prepared portion of putty retains its qualities during the day and the mixture becomes white after drying.

The layer thickness on large surfaces can be up to 1 mm, and on a small area up to 3 mm. With a thickness of the applied layer of 1 mm, the consumption of the mixture is 1.2 kg per square meter. m. The maximum allowable layer thickness per application is 5 mm.

To prepare the putty, 8 liters of water are combined with a bag (25 kg) of this dry mixture, mixing is carried out for 1-2 minutes using a powerful drill with a special nozzle. To achieve better dissolution, Vetonit LR should be allowed to stand for about 20 minutes, then re-mix and the putty is ready for use. Dissolved unused mixture must not be poured into the sewer to avoid pipe blockages, and also left in hoses, mixing containers and other equipment for more than a day, it is better to use it all and not leave it for the next days.

Vetonit LR putty can be applied manually with a two-handed spatula or by mechanical spraying. When leveling a small area, a slightly smaller steel spatula 25–30 cm wide is used. The excess mixture is removed, and then it is used again. When leveling the mixture by hand, it is better to use an 80 cm wide tool.

The putty is applied to the spatula and applied to the surface with movements from the bottom up. When performing work, the temperature of the air, mixture and base should not be higher than 10 degrees, and the temperature of the water should not exceed 40 degrees. To achieve an increase in adhesion when mixing the mixture, Vetonit dispersion (Vetonit LR +) is added to water at the rate of 1:10, due to this, wear resistance increases.

If alignment is performed in several layers, then each layer must be allowed to dry for a day, and only then apply the next layer. Drying time depends on temperature, ventilation and layer thickness. After drying, each layer must be sanded with sanding paper.
