In general, flower pots can be decorated with anything: shells, beads, buttons.

The pot looks beautiful, the pattern of which resembles a flower growing in it. It is good when the color of the flowerpot matches the color of the leaves or inflorescences of the plant.

Non-standard decor
With the help of putty, colored paints and sanding paper, standard terracotta pots can be quickly turned into "antiques". We suggest cheating time and not waiting for the patina to appear by itself, but to "age" the pots in advance with your own hands.

Another option for non-standard decor is painting at home. You will need unglazed earthenware pots, waterproof varnish, and the same wall paint. Use mineral paints for clay pots and acrylic paints for plastic ones. Apply them in a continuous layer on the surface of the vessel. You can use templates that are sold in flower shops. They are strengthened on a pot and applied with a brush of contrasting paint. The most ordinary pots with the help of this simple technique will look like bright spots and will greatly decorate your windowsill.

Decorating flower pots is one of the elements of home decor.

What if the old flower pot is still quite strong, but completely unsightly?

Funny stripes way. Decorating a flower pot with a strip of fabric, as in the photo above, is a breeze

6.

The only thing is to find a piece of dense, rigid fabric that matches the color, cut out a rectangle along the height of the pot (add 2-3 cm on all sides to the hem) and tuck the sections if they crumble. It remains to fix the fabric on the pot by gluing it along the upper edge and side, or you can chop off the edges of the “clothes” with pins (or sew on Velcro) - then the cover will be easier to change or remove for washing.

1. If your glasses are at least 2 colors, you can make some kind of drawing (in the version presented to your attention, this is a fish). First you need to lay out your chosen drawing on paper. The next step is gluing the glass. First you need to glue the picture, and then the background.

Note. If you use "hot glue", it will take you no more than 30 minutes to glue the glass. If you take PVA glue, this process will take several days, since you will need to glue the glass, gradually turning the pot, and wait for the glue to dry. After the "hot glue" it is necessary to remove the cobweb.

2. After the glass has dried, we apply putty. It is necessary to thoroughly coat the entire pot. In this case, some pieces of glass may fall off - it's okay, glue them when the putty dries (after 24 hours).

3. After about 5 minutes, when the putty dries a little, start rinsing it off the glass with a wet cloth. Then wait 24 hours for everything to dry completely. The putty may dry out a little during this time. Then you have to apply another layer, then wash all the glass again and wait another 24 hours.

4. The last stage is the most enjoyable! It is necessary to carefully cover the glass with varnish - and your mosaic will shine!

After the paint has dried, apply masking tape under the rim to protect the white surface from the blue spray. We paint the bezel with blue spray paint, after drying, remove the masking tape. If you replace the spray with regular paint masking tape will also be needed.
From paper napkin cut out the violets. To make it more convenient, you can first circle them with felt-tip pens. Carefully separate the ink layer from the paper base
Gently press each violet against the white part of the pot and carefully brush over its surface with an acrylic lacquer brush. After all the violets have dried, the entire surface of the pot will need to be coated again with acrylic varnish. Now our flower pot is not afraid of water, it can be washed without fear of damaging the picture.

We put the paper drawing in water for several minutes, transfer it to a paper towel and blot it thoroughly;
apply a small amount of glue on the surface and on the reverse side of the pattern;
carefully transfer the drawing to the surface, press it with a sponge (so that air bubbles go away);
cover the entire surface with varnish or decoupage glue.

3. acrylic paint is suitable for the background, although there are cases showing that you can apply the background with ordinary gouache :)
4. be sure to buy a regular transparent construction varnish. It is much cheaper than those offered in art stores, and the function is the same.
The background should be applied to the pot with a roller or a piece of foam, but not with a brush, otherwise there will be stripes from the brush when it all dries

15.

After applying the tissue paper, let it dry and harden.
Apply a thin layer of varnish with a brush over the entire surface of the pot and napkin.

Sticks, lids and corks, sheets of paper and food. In the photo of the decor of flower pots, you can see a variety of ideas that will inspire you to create unique masterpieces.

Marine projects

And so, we offer interesting option decoration of a flower pot in the style of the sea.

To realize this idea, you should prepare shells and pebbles brought from the sea. Previously, on a piece of paper, you can "estimate" the future plot.

You can also invent already in the process of laying out decorative elements on the surface of the pot, in which in the future there will be your favorite home plants, flowers.

The easiest design option from shells and pebbles

Take an ordinary ceramic pot, a moment and attach stones and shells to it, which must first be washed and thoroughly degreased. Small pieces can also be used broken tiles, fragments of cups with plates.

But, at the same time, the same color scheme should be selected. Of course, in this matter everything is very individual and depends on the preferences of each individual. When all the details are fixed, consider whether you need to paint over some areas.

At the next stage beautiful design flower pot will fill the voids between the elements of your drawing. To do this, you can use PVA + cement in a ratio of 1k3, and you need to dilute the mixture with water to form a sour cream consistency.

To make the wave with a certain shade, literally a drop of turquoise aquamarine can be added to the solution. Dip the brush in this composition, and paint over the space in a circle around the resulting composition. When you feel how it hardens, use a sponge or piece of cloth to remove the unnecessary part of the solution from the decorative part. That's all!

You can also use a slightly different method. Wet the brush with glue and pass between the pebbles and shells. Then, slightly tilting the container, sand the areas smeared with glue. You need to do this until the sand covers the gaps that remain in your overall “picture” densely enough.

Finish off with regular nail polish or spray nail polish. They cover the entire workspace. The result will be a very effective shine.

Also, the design can be complicated. If there is a desire and a lot of patience, you can glue the surface of the flower pot with pebbles with shells so that there is no free space left at all. All parts used for this must be laid very tightly to each other, leaving no free space.

We decorate the pot with a mosaic

In fact, this option is technologically similar to the previous method of framing a pot. Main feature this method in. That there is a huge variety of materials used. Pots can be not only ceramic, but also plastic.

For decoration, various options for building residues, beads and buttons, beads, sequins, and other trifles can be used.

If the surface is smooth, it should be prepared with sandpaper. To finishing material adhered well to the base, soil should be applied to it as a concrete contact. Next, glue is spread, which can be trimmed with a reinforcing mesh.

After that, cellular strips are already laid, moving from below. When the mosaic is laid out, you need to wait until it dries. The paper must be moistened and removed, then the seams are filled with grout. That's it, decorating is complete. For the stand, you can use drywall.

If you also want to try your hand at this activity, here are some simple decor options that will surely inspire your own creativity!

How can you decorate flower pots?

Consider the most interesting tricks:

Bulkness with eggshells

decoration eggshell- a vivid example of the fact that you can really use any improvised means. With its help, craftsmen create amazing beauty patterns. It's on the move both white and brown shells, and acrylic paints will help create the desired variety of colors. Especially impressive is the use of a shell color that is a contrast to the color of the pot.

We carefully prepare the material

To start working with the shell, it must first be prepared. To do this, from the shell carefully the inner film is removed, then the shell is placed in soda solution for degreasing. After that, it is thoroughly washed and dried. Now the shell is ready to go.

Decorating process

The process itself is very simple. Glue is applied to the surface of the pot to be decorated.

Do not apply glue directly to large area, let it be a small area.

Then, with the convex side outward, we apply a piece of the shell and press it with our fingers. It should be remembered that the material is very fragile, so you should act carefully, unless you plan to specifically grind a piece of shell. Thus, we fill the entire area of the pot or lay out a pre-planned pattern.

If suddenly the distance between the individual pieces of the shell turned out to be too large, it can be close with smaller elements, which can simply be sprinkled on the surface of the pot, covered with a layer of glue.

Final touches

After applying the shell, the product primed with PVA glue and dries up. Further, it is possible to cover the pattern with paint, however, it should be remembered that the shell mosaic does not hold too tightly, so you should be careful. At the end of the product varnished to secure the decor.

We create various motifs using decoupage

Who would have thought that ordinary table napkins can also be used to create beauty! But no matter how surprising, the decoupage technique is widely used for decoration. various items. Therefore, she was also used in decorating flower pots.

We prepare materials

First of all, we need, of course, pot. As well as multilayer napkins with the pattern you like white acrylic paint, varnish. In addition, you can use any other elements that your imagination tells you.

How to do?

So, to begin with, we cover the surface of the pot with white paint. This is necessary in order for the drawing to be better visible. The paint should dry well. Napkin split into layers, leaving for work only the one on which the picture is better visible. If necessary, the pattern must be cut out. Then we put a napkin on the pot and cover it with glue.

Important! Napkins are very thin and easily deformed, so make sure that the pattern does not wrinkle during the glue coating process. When the glue dries, the product must be covered with a layer of varnish.

Ordinary drawings instead of napkins

For decoupage, you can use not only napkins, but also ordinary drawings on paper. For this picture in advance put in water for a few minutes, then transferred to a paper towel and gently but thoroughly blotted.

Glue is applied to the back of the picture, then the picture is placed on the surface of the pot. If suddenly bubbles appear on the surface of the pattern, they can be gently pressed with a sponge. At the end, the product is also varnished or special glue for decoupage.

We use fabric

Cloth decoration gives a real easy to choose style. Use linen or burlap- get country style or country, use organza- get gentle, romantic style, use felt

Surely you have unused pieces of fabric that you can’t find a use for. Put them on the decor of flower pots!

Preparatory work

Before you start working with fabric, prepare paper pattern. We recommend taking a sheet larger than A4. Arm yourself with a pencil, sideways attach the pot to the sheet and begin to roll it smoothly, but so that the bottom remains at one point.

Work process

Circle the resulting arc with a pencil. We cut out the pattern and apply it to the fabric, after which we cut off the piece of fabric we need according to the pattern. Pin the fabric on the pot in different ways:

 • just tie it with a ribbon or rope,
 • sew the edges of the pattern so that it fits snugly on the pot,
 • put on glue.

For further work you can also use other improvised materials: beads, buttons, artificial flowers, ribbons, etc. By the way, a pot decorated with some ribbons looks interesting. The execution technique is similar twine decor. You can use multi-colored ribbons, creating a real rainbow, or you can choose ribbons different shades one color and create smooth transitions. Fantasize!

Ethno style with twine

Each of these materials will create unique style. By the way, the rope-decorated pot fits perfectly into the room with maritime theme in the interior.

Accuracy is the key to success

This technique of giving novelty to the pot is quite simple to perform, although it requires some painstaking work. The pot is sequentially wrapped with a rope, the coils should fit snugly against each other. This is where the difficulty lies. It is necessary to achieve such an effect that over time the decoration does not lose its original appearance, because the rope can simply “part”. To prevent this from happening, perform coils with tension on the rope, and also periodically secure them. glue or hidden knots.

Unleash your fantasy

Here, in fact, is the whole technology. Everything else is up to your imagination. You can decorate the pot with some pattern from the second layer of twine, you can wrap it with a rope braided into a pigtail, add some other materials, for example, dry grass, buttons, burlap.

Other potting ideas

Do not limit your imagination, think about what else you can use? We suggest using shells and sand to create pots in nautical style(the technique is similar to eggshell decor), pieces of glass, tile or sea pebbles to simulate a mosaic, dry twigs, the sleeves of an old knitted sweater, trimming a bright magazine (you will also get an imitation of a mosaic) and much, much more.

Fix both layers on the pot and start re-tracing your pattern (for this it is advisable to use a pencil of a different color so that you can see which part of the pattern you have not yet traced). This method is convenient because after removing the preliminary drawing from the pot, you can correct it, and it is more convenient to draw on a flat surface than on the round side of the pot.
 2. Step 2 So, the desired pattern has been transferred to the pot, you can proceed directly to the application of seeds. If the pattern is complex and contains elements different sizes, it is better to stock up on different brushes for glue. We cover a small area of the pot with a layer of glue and apply the selected type of cereal / seeds (just pour it on top of the glue). After you have filled the entire desired area, gently press the pattern with a cloth. Carefully shake off those seeds that are not stuck and fill the next section in the same way.

We sew

This is one of the most difficult master classes in our selection, but great result worth the effort! It is necessary to have 2 types of fabric in contrasting, but at the same time perfectly matching colors, good scissors, a beautiful rope, a ruler, a hammer and eyelets large diameter. If desired (and if you can find it), you can use a water-repellent fabric spray.

We fold both pieces of fabric with the right side inward (toward each other) and cut out a rectangle 46 cm x 76 cm from them. We chop off the upper wide edge of the product with pins and sew it on a typewriter, leaving a 1.2 cm seam allowance. We turn the product on the front side and carefully sew the side edges. From two pieces of fabric we cut out a circle with a diameter of 26 cm. The actual diameter of the product is 23.5 cm, but we take into account seam allowances of 1.2 cm. Draw right circle very simply with a ruler, placing its zero mark in the center and drawing a circle, holding the pencil at the 13 cm mark.

We attach the bottom to the bottom of the cylinder from the wrong side and sew on a typewriter. Turn the cylinder right side out. We make a beautiful lapel from above, we outline symmetrical places for eyelets on it. To make the pot look like a handbag, the distance between the eyelets should be about 7-8 cm. Install the eyelets and thread them through decorative rope. That's all - a wonderful outfit for a flower pot is ready! For additional protection, the product (optional!) is treated with a water-repellent spray inside and out.

Fabric and lace for decoration

Textile decor can be used more in a simple way- stick fabric, lace, ropes, ribbons and various other textile elements on the pot. If desired, textiles can be combined with decor with beads, buttons, shells, coins and glass pebbles. Pots decorated with the same fabric from which the curtains or tablecloth are sewn will look very interesting.

For decoration, any universal glue (for example, PVA) is suitable, which retains transparency and does not darken when dried. Textile elements are glued to the pot and additionally primed on top with a layer of glue so that a solid protective film appears on them.
