Care

Let us consider in more detail the stages of planting and caring for the Chinese rose Angel Wings.

Landing

Hibiscus, including Angel Wings, are considered unpretentious plants, but not proper care they die very quickly. This variety is grown from seed. There are usually a little more than ten in a package.

Growing Sino Angel Wings roses from seeds is not an easy task. Seeds must be placed in special substrate(sold in stores) to a depth of 5 mm, sprinkle with earth on top, moistening it a little, and cover with glass. Glass can be occasionally removed to moisten the soil and saturate it with oxygen.

You can make your own soil. Pour drainage at the bottom of the pot (for example, crushed polystyrene), pour universal flower mix, add sand, and on top peat tablet after soaking it in hot water.

For greater confidence, before planting seeds, they can be soaked in water or a weak solution of potassium permanganate for 2 weeks. The first shoots should appear within 30 days.

A video on the topic Chinese rose Angel Wings, growing from seeds will help you understand the intricacies of the issue:

Priming

Hibiscus are not too whimsical in the ground. The only thing is that it must be air and waterproof. Important. You can purchase ordinary peat soil or a flower mixture, add humus, sand and drainage to them.

During the growth and flowering period, hibiscus need water abundantly(both if the flower is outdoors, and if the flower is in a pot at home).

If the plant is in a pot, then you need to pour water into pallet, only a little water can be poured under the roots of the flower to moisten the topsoil.

Stagnant water also has a bad effect on the flower, so the remaining it is better to pour water from the pan. The topsoil must always be moist.

The leaves must be sprayed. After flowering stops, when the leaves begin to fall off, watering should be stopped, only occasionally moistened with an earthen ball.

Lighting, temperature

All hibiscus are very love light and warmth. If the house has windows facing south, then it is better to put Angel Wings there. The same applies to the situation with open ground. For long and persistent flowering, flowers need 4-6 hours a day in the sun.

The ideal temperature is from +24 to +30. If the temperature drops below +10, the plant will die. However, if the temperature is very high and the sun's rays are direct, then it is necessary protect the roots roses from overheating. It is better to do this immediately upon planting, sprinkling the roots on top with an extra 2-3 cm of earth.

top dressing

Hibiscus "Angelwings" must be fed . Suitable any universal remedy for potted plants. This type of plant also needs magnesium. It is better to take magnesium in chelated form. You need to feed the flower in the morning, in a non-hot time, once a week. It is possible more often, but then the dose should be significantly reduced.

reproduction

All gardeners unanimously say that this type is better propagate by cuttings , propagation by seeds practically does not give results. For cuttings, it is better to choose the healthiest bushes.

Bloom

In a pot, Angelwings can bloom almost nonstop. In open ground, the flowering period is the period from late April to mid-July.

Lifespan

This rose is perennial plant, so it will delight the eye from a year to five years with proper care.

Hibiscus grow very quickly, so you will need to stock up on a large number of pots. young plants several times a year.

As it grows, it is necessary to transplant into a pot with a large diameter. Adult plants are transplanted less often - once every few years.

For a safe transplant, the earthen ball must be completely braided with the roots of the plant.

After transplantation, at first, it is better to water the plant from a pallet. So the roots will cling to the new soil.

Pests, diseases

Important. If the care is completely correct, then pests and diseases will not bother the rose.

spider mite

Millimeter insects that cover the leaves of plants with a barely noticeable cobweb. The leaves turn yellow, fall off and wither. Because of it, the plant can hit gray rot. As a preventive measure, the plant is necessary spray regularly, but do not allow water to stagnate in rosebuds.

It is necessary remove fallen leaves and dried buds. If the disease nevertheless overtook the rose, then it should be sprayed even more often. You can properly water the plant and close it for three days with a plastic bag. From high humidity ticks must die.

You can also irradiate the underside of the leaves with ultraviolet light. But in this case, it is better to prevent the appearance of the pest, since the fight against it greatly exhausts the rose and its owner.

Aphid

One aphid does not pose a threat, but if there is a lot of it, then the plant is in real danger. The leaves of a diseased plant will turn yellow, wrap in tubules and fall off. Hibiscus will become lethargic and will not bloom, but if there are a lot of pests, then the leaves will become sticky from aphid secretions.

It is easier to prevent the appearance of aphids than to fight them later. But it is also possible to win. If aphids settled on a plant in the amount of several pieces, then you can try wash the leaves very cold water or wipe them down with soapy water.

If the aphid has already captured the plant as a habitat, then you will have to use special chemical substances which can be purchased at the store. After defeating aphids, Angel Wings will recover for some time, and at this time they need especially careful care.

An unpleasant disease of hibiscus caused by a violation of its conditions of detention. Appears with improper care.

The leaves begin to change shape, twist, they appear stains of dirty flowers, rose buds fall without blooming.

Chlorosis is a disease in which a plant lack of Zinc, Iron, Manganese, Potassium and other substances.

To save a flower, it is worth transplanting it into a new substrate with necessary fertilizers, carefully and daily spray the leaves.

If the disease has just begun, then you can do without a transplant by adding useful substances to the soil.

Absolutely all Angelwings diseases occur due to improper care, therefore, subject to all the rules, the plant must be absolutely healthy. If there are any signs of the disease, then you need to immediately correct the errors in the content of this flower. This can stop the disease in the bud.

How to care for Angel Wings?

The Chinese rose is demanding on temperature, so in many countries, including Russia, it can die in winter when grown outdoors.

Temperature

The ideal temperature for the Chinese rose is +24°C ... +30°C. Rose roots need protection from overheating when exposed to direct sunlight. The plant dies at temperatures below +10 °C. Most often, the Chinese rose on the street lives only in summer, for wintering it is transferred inside the room.

Watering

During active growth and flowering, the plant is watered abundantly. If it is in a pot, then water is poured into the pan. You can pour a little under the roots to slightly moisturize upper layer soil. Stagnation of water adversely affects the rose. Its leaves are recommended to be sprayed. After it fades, and the leaves begin to fall off, the plant is not watered, only occasionally the ground is moistened.

Light

Chinese rose Angel Wings prefers warmth and light. Indoors, it must be placed on the south windows. For flowering to be long and abundant, it must be in the sun for 4-6 hours.

Priming

This flower grows well in airy and moderately moisture-intensive soil. Can be purchased ready soil or make your own by mixing:

  • peat substrate;
  • humus;
  • sand.

Important! Before planting a flower, the soil must be processed special means, which will not allow the development of fungal or bacterial infections.

pruning

Chinese rose pruning is done after flowering. Branches need to be removed:

  • dry;
  • damaged;
  • old.

Cut with a sharp pruner, which is pre-disinfected in alcohol. Places of cuts need to be processed with chopped activated carbon. Top dressing Feed the Chinese rose 1 time in 2 weeks, from March to July. The rest of the time it does not need to be fertilized. For feeding, you can use any universal fertilizer designed for potted flowers. The procedure is carried out in morning time.

Pot

Transplantation and wintering

Such a variety of Chinese rose as Angel Wings grows quickly, so it is transplanted several times a year. And each time they take a pot with a diameter larger than the previous one. In order for the transplant to proceed safely, the roots must be pulled out along with an earthen clod.

In autumn, often a Chinese rose is dug up and transferred until March into the room. with temperature + 3°С…+5 °С. If they decide to leave her on the street, then experienced growers they advise bending the flower to the ground, wrapping it tightly nonwoven fabric. From above, it is desirable to build a frame, insulated with hay or spruce branches.

Growing from seeds

  1. Before planting seeds in a ready-made or self-prepared substrate, they must be placed in water or a weak solution of potassium permanganate for 2 weeks.
  2. Then planting material is buried 5 mm into the ground, lightly sprinkled and watered, covered with glass on top.
  3. Every day the glass is removed so that the seeds are ventilated.

The first shoots will appear after a month. After the formation of 2-3 leaves, you need to make a pick. Basically, the Chinese rose of the Angel Wings variety is sown in February. If you want to see in the spring flowering plant, then this time for sowing seeds is considered the most successful.

Reproduction by cuttings

Although experienced flower growers mainly grow this flower from seeds, you can try to propagate it by cuttings.

  1. Cuttings are cut in the spring, using young, not stiff shoots.
  2. Then they must be put in water for the appearance of roots.
  3. When the cutting takes root, it is planted in the ground.

However, the fact is noted that plants grown from seeds are less whimsical.

Diseases and pests

The harm to the Chinese rose is caused by the spider mite. When this small insect covers the leaves with its almost imperceptible web, they:

  • turn yellow;
  • wither;
  • fly around.

It is because of him that such a disease as gray rot develops. For preventive purposes, the plant needs to be sprayed with water, but it is impossible for moisture to stagnate in the buds. It is necessary to cut dried buds in time. Spider mites they die as a result of high humidity, so if the flower is thoroughly watered, and then covered with a plastic bag for 3 days, the insects will die.

Other dangerous pest is an aphid, especially if there is a large amount of it on the flower. As a result of their vital activity, the leaves turn yellow, curl and crumble. The plant wilts and stops flowering. You can get rid of the leaves by washing the leaves with cold water, or wiping with soapy water.

Chinese rose Angel Wings, if the conditions of detention are violated, improper care, becomes ill with such an unpleasant disease as leaf chlorosis. In this case, the shape of the leaves changes. They begin to twist, their surface is covered with dirty spots. Buds, not having time to bloom, fall off. In order to save the flower, it needs to be transplanted into fresh soil, fertilized with the necessary bait, and also spray the leaves well every day.

  1. There are many types of hibiscus similar to the Chinese rose Angel Wings. One of them is the Musk variety. This plant grows to a height of 1.5 m. It has a pink bark, the shape of the leaves is similar to the heart. The flowers are large, burgundy, bright.
  2. A very showy variety of Cooper is distinguished by variegated white-green leaves and bright red flowers.
  3. The variety King has double flowers painted in bright yellow. They are 15-17 cm in diameter.
  4. The Alicante variety does not stand out with attractive flowers, they have simple red petals. This plant is often found in hospitals, schools and offices.
  5. The Flamingo variety is decorated with simple pink flowers, which have an attractive dark red center. It is she who makes the flower unusually beautiful.

The Chinese rose Angel Wings, although it belongs to ordinary plants, blooms profusely and for a long time, which is what flower growers like. This flower is perennial plant. His bushes, with proper care, grow for more than 5 years.

All my friends grow about the same flowers on their windowsills. But I wanted something different, especially since my friends grow plants with good foliage (like spathiphyllum), i.e. intended for cultivation in partial shade. All my windows face east. So I needed something that would bloom in the sun.
And in the online store I saw the seeds of the Chinese rose "Angel Wings". And I thought it would be just great if I could grow something interesting from these seeds.
There were 7 seeds in the bag, which I planted in two pots. I covered it with a film and put it under the battery (it was in February). There was nothing for a month! I decided that everyone ... will not rise. But the soil was well moistened. After about 3 weeks, I saw one sprout in each pot. Then I was upset and happy at the same time. Because it’s a shame that the germination rate turned out to be so low (2 plants out of 7), but on the other hand, I wasn’t going to breed them! One plant would be enough for me.
And then they began to grow ... by the way, I will say that I planted a Chinese rose on the same day with strawberries and eggplants for seedlings (for summer cottages). And I was very surprised by the speed of development of roses! Because vegetables all at first throw out 2 cotyledons, and after a while the first true leaf appears. In the case of the Angel Wings rose, everything went wrong! Almost a day after I noticed the shoots, a real leaf appeared! Those. the seeds sat for a month, then they just flooded!
A week later I had neat bushes, and then I saw one more sprout in each pot. Those. I have 4 plants. And just recently got out the fifth. Those. the seedling rate is very slow, but the growth rate is wonderful!
The leaves of the roses are neat, carved and very pretty - they really resemble roses.
Let me remind you once again: I sowed the seeds in mid-February, and at the end of April my roses began to bloom! The first flowers did not turn out quite the same as the manufacturer promised. After all, judging by the packaging, "Angel Wings" are blooming double flowers(i.e. when there are many, many petals layered one on top of the other). But I have only one such flower. I hope this is because the plants are still quite small.
The rest of the flowers are all five-petalled. But I also really like them.
Another interesting point: at the beginning of flowering, the flower may be more or less pink, but the closer to the end, the lighter it becomes. At the very end, the flower turns white (unless, of course, it was originally so). My first flower immediately opened white. But all the rest turned white already then. It was interesting to observe how on one plant there were flowers of two shades at once: bright pink and white.
The only negative is that my flowers fade very quickly: they are pleasing to the eye for only a couple of days, and then crumble. True, this applies to the five-petal. Terry keeps for almost a week. So I hope that over time, when the plants get stronger and mature, the flowering period will be longer.

Rose Angel Wings is a perennial that belongs to the Chinese hibiscus. grown and how indoor plant, and in gardens. Raise a Chinese beauty with large bright colors difficult. But at strong desire, observing the rules of planting and the advice of professional gardeners, it is quite possible. Growing roses Angel Wings from seeds at home will be discussed in this article.

Characteristics and features of the Angel Wings variety

A small lush bush with many branches strewn with delicate inflorescences of light shades has long been one of the most popular Chinese hibiscus scrubs among gardeners. It grows up to 20 cm high with thin, but strong, green stems. There are a lot of branches on the bush, which gives it splendor and elegance. The leaves are bright green, small in size, serrated along the edges.

The angelic polyanthus rose blooms for a long time and plentifully. One rose bush can have up to a hundred inflorescences. Buds for a plant half a meter long, large, from 4 to 9 cm. The petals of each subspecies are different. They can be terry, semi-double or flat. The color of the flowers is white and pale pink. Sometimes one bush can combine flowers of both colors. They are connected in inflorescences.

Chinese rose Angel Wings, grown in the garden, blooms from early April to late July, in a pot - all year round without breaks. It can be grown by seeds and cuttings. Seeds of culture germinate for a very long time, so patience is required during its reproduction. After they have ascended, the first flowers appear already in the third month. Rose Angel Wings differs from other Chinese roses in higher winter hardiness. This is especially noticeable on bushes grown from seeds.

Growing Rose Angel Wings from Seeds

Chinese rose is not demanding on the soil. The main condition is that it should be light and pass moisture and air well. It is recommended for planting seeds to purchase a special soil designed for hibiscus. But you can prepare the soil yourself. The peat substrate must be mixed with humus and river sand. Then pour a weak solution of potassium permanganate to destroy the larvae of pests and midges.

In order for the sprouts to hatch through the shell, they must be stratified. For this you need:

  1. Disinfect seeds. Dip in hydrogen peroxide. Keep 20 minutes. Remove floating seeds, as they are empty and unsuitable for planting.
  2. Take out the seeds, put them on a slightly moistened non-woven material, cover them on top. You can also use cotton pads. Wrap in plastic bag and put in the bottom of the refrigerator for 60 days. After this time, the first shoots should form.
  3. Seeds should be constantly checked and moistened if necessary. For prevention, you can re-treat with peroxide.
  4. Seeds that have sprouted should be planted in a pot. The container for planting should not be too deep. Small holes should be made in the bottom so that water does not accumulate.
  5. Pour drainage (fine gravel or gravel) on the bottom of the pot, and pour the prepared soil on it.
  6. Put the seeds on the ground and sprinkle with river sand or vermiculite.
  7. Cover the container with a transparent lid, glass or tighten with a film.
  8. pot with planting material put on a windowsill, where there are no drafts, or in another well-lit place.

When growing Angel Wings roses with seeds from 10-12 pieces, only 3-5 can grow.

Stratification can be carried out by another method, combining it with landing. To do this, you need a container with a plastic lid (a great option is confectionery packaging), which will serve as a greenhouse. Place drainage at the bottom, then soil and lay out the seeds previously soaked in a growth stimulator. Fill with sand, moisten.

Keep indoors for 10 days room temperature then put in the refrigerator. After 30 days, sprouts should form. With their appearance, take the container from the refrigerator and place it in a place with good lighting and an air temperature not higher than +20 degrees.

It is best to sow Angel Wings rose seeds in February.

Until the seedlings get stronger, they need to be carefully looked after. In this case, it is necessary:

  • provide the plant with heat and moisture;
  • maintain a temperature not lower than +14 degrees;
  • provide good lighting for 10 hours a day. If necessary, use phytolamps or daylight devices;
  • do not open the greenhouse;
  • prevent the soil from drying out, moisten the top layer using a spray gun;
  • avoid excess moisture;
  • strengthened sprouts begin to ventilate, opening the greenhouse, thereby hardening them. Then gradually increase the ventilation time;
  • do not allow sunlight to hit the plant;
  • in March, the rose can be slowly fed with fertilizers for apartment plants. It is better to fertilize in the morning.

If a second pair of leaves has formed on the seedlings, you can start picking. The best period for this falls on April-May. Small roses need to be seated in separate pots.

The flowering of the angel rose occurs in the spring, three months after sowing. The first flowers must be removed in order to further hive gave large quantity flowering buds. In order for the rose to grow and sprout new shoots, you need to pinch its top.

Multiply Chinese hibiscus Angel wings can be not only seeds, but also cuttings. They are cut from young stems. Placed in water until roots appear. Then they land in open ground. But the sown plants are not so whimsical and more frost-resistant.

In May, when the frosts end, a warm stable temperature is established and the earth warms up, the rose is planted in open ground. For some time, the plant will get used to the new conditions, after which it begins to grow and bloom. Most abundant flowering falls in June-July. Continues to bloom until September, but not as much.

Chinese roses tolerate cold well. With weak frosts they do not need shelter, but in order for the plants to successfully overwinter in severe frosts, they still need to be covered. As a covering material, it is good to use spruce branches, non-woven material, burlap, brushwood. To protect the bushes from freezing, their bases and the soil between the rows are spudded with additional earth, mullein with straw and foliage. After wintering, the shelter is removed.

With the advent of spring, pruning is necessary. Dead and damaged stems are removed, healthy ones are shortened by 1/3 of their length. Spring pruning promotes the formation of new shoots and helps to form correct form bush. The pruning tool must be very sharp and disinfected. Places of cuts are recommended to be treated with activated charcoal.

To ensure lush long-term flowering, for rose bushes need to be maintained regularly. The earth around should be periodically fluffed up so that air can better enter the root system and saturate it with oxygen. It is also important to get rid of weeds.

Mulching is an integral part of Angel Wings rose care, thanks to which moisture will remain around the plant and the grass will stop growing. Be sure to water the flower, preventing the soil from drying out. feed mineral fertilizers and organic. With a lack nutrients a rose can get leaf chlorosis, in which buds and flowers begin to fall off, and the foliage curls and changes color.

In the presence of aphids, the Angel Wings rose will stop blooming and begin to fade. The leaves will turn yellow, curl and fall off. To get rid of the insect, the leaves must be washed with cold water or soapy water. With too much accumulation of aphids, the bush must be treated with a special chemical preparation designed to control this pest.

With proper regular care, the Chinese angel rose can grow for more than five years, delighting with its luxurious beautiful flowers.

Rosa chinensis from seeds:

Hello. I subscribe to your magazine, and once there was an article in it about growing Angel Wings roses from seeds. I liked that she hibernates under the snow. I seem to have done everything as you advised, but the rose did not come up for me. Tell me, did you plant it yourself? What are your results? What flowers turned out? How did she winter? Maybe write some more details?

IS HE. Tsvetkova, Izhevsk

Dear Olga Nikolaevna, I grew Angel Wings roses a few years ago, I really liked her - tender and tirelessly blooming. The flowers were both simple and double, white and pink on the same plant (photo 2).

By the way, the Angel Wings rose is very variable, and this is understandable, because it is grown from seeds. Some plants are more successful and terry, while others are simple and almost white, compare photos 2 and 3.

According to gardeners who grew this rose, more double flowers form plants grown from imported seeds.

In the future, it is advised to grow it from cuttings, choosing the best bushes from seedlings. The cuttings are well rooted.

However, plants grown from seeds are more winter-hardy, as they have a deep tap root. This is the advantage of growing roses from seeds - high winter hardiness. And the seeds are inexpensive. With good germination, you can grow several bushes for a whole border for 20 rubles. By the way, the Angel Wings in the border are very beautiful!

My rose grew in the foreground of the flower bed. I covered her with a single shelter along with other roses. Wings of the Angels wintered well, only the tips of the shoots were frosted over, two centimeters, no more.

But one day I decided to transplant her into a rockery and check how she hibernates without shelter. I dug up a bush with a clod of earth, and it quickly took root. But that year there were very coldy without snow. In December, the temperature dropped below 20 degrees, and there was no snow. The rose has died.

This year I sowed Angel Wings again. I took seeds from two manufacturers. I must say right away that the seeds were of poor quality, white in appearance, immature. Of the 12 seeds, only two sprouted (and just those that had a dark shell).

I took the soil purchased - the soil "Rose". Loose, light soil is a prerequisite for successful sowing.

I poured the soil into a plastic container for food products, having previously made holes in it for drainage excess moisture. I spilled the earth with a solution of phytosporin.

The seeds were sown superficially, NOT covered with soil, sprinkled with vermiculite on top. The container was closed with a transparent lid and placed on the battery, placing a newspaper folded in several layers under the bowl. Make sure the temperature is warm, not hot, otherwise the seeds will steam.

Shoots appeared on the 12th day. I immediately moved them under the lamp for additional illumination. But they managed to stretch out a little, since the crops were in the office, and I could only follow them in work time(photo 5).

I added light earth to the stems (soil for cacti). To protect against diseases, she put a tablet of Glyocladin (photo 6).

The first days the seedlings grew under a closed lid, then I had to remove it, since it is very low.

I water the seedlings warm water under the root. I do not recommend spraying, they can get sick.

In the future, you need to transplant each seedling separately into a cup or into a pot. But do not immediately take a large container. The soil, not mastered by the roots, will turn sour, and this provokes a "black leg".

For those whose Angel Wings have not risen, it can be advised to put the container with seeds for stratification in the refrigerator (lower section or door, but not the freezer!). After 10-15 days, try to germinate them again on the windowsill.

Two weeks after germination, roses begin to feed. You can use Fertik or liquid humic fertilizers. But the dose must be halved, since the seedlings are still very weak. Gradually, fertilizers are brought to normal.

Angel Wings bloom three months after sowing. However, it is better to cut off the first buds so that there will be more flowers in the future. Pinching stimulates the branching of the bush and makes it more magnificent. Wings of Angels are planted in the ground at the end of May and must be shaded for several days. In the first winter, seedlings are covered in the usual way (spruce branches and spunbond).
