How to choose a flowing electric water heater for an apartment, which one works best. How to choose an electric running water heater - an overview of models with specifications, photos and prices

Many urban residents are familiar with the age-old problem of seasonal shutdown of hot water supply. And it’s good if the temporary discomfort lasts only a couple of weeks. It happens that this period is calculated in months. For country estates, you will have to take care of heating the water on your own for the entire season or even a year. In such situations, one of the optimal solutions is the use of electric water heaters. The best instantaneous electric water heaters are in our today's rating.

Criteria for choosing an instantaneous electric water heater

The list of relevant parameters is not particularly large, but each of them is of no small importance. Competent selection of characteristics is the key to the efficiency of the water heater, its reliability and makes operation truly comfortable.

Device type

There are two main types of flow models:

  • Non-pressure. Simple and compact devices designed for only one point. They are convenient to use at low or unstable pressure in plumbing system. Best and inexpensive option water heater for giving or as a temporary source of heating when turned off hot water summer;
  • Pressure. Often they are also called systemic. They are connected to the water supply, work under pressure and can be used to service one or more points of water intake.

Power

The heating capacity of the device and its performance directly depend on this parameter. Optimal value can be determined by the formula:

P=Q x (T1-T2) x 0.073.

Q is the volume of water passed in l / min., and T1 and T2 are the inlet and outlet temperatures, respectively.

There is a simpler method: to get water heated to about 35 ° C, you need to multiply its planned consumption per minute by 2.

Type of heating control system

Few options:

  • hydraulic. The temperature is controlled by the pressure of the water;
  • Electronic. The required parameters are set on the display and controlled by the control unit by adjusting the power when the pressure changes.

Equipment

The characteristic is more relevant for inexpensive non-pressure water heaters. Nozzle options: faucet only, hose with shower head, faucet + shower. Models up to 3.5 kW are equipped with an electrical cord with a plug having a grounding contact. For more powerful varieties, the cable is usually not provided in the kit.

Hot water for modern man is not a luxury at all. He is in dire need of it. In this regard, many apartment owners in which centralized system water supply cannot be provided with hot water around the clock and throughout the year, sooner or later they begin to think about purchasing such a device as a water heater.

Modern market household appliances offers many models. However, not everyone can answer the question of which water heater is better to buy for an apartment. Let's try to figure it out.

Electricity or gas?

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment? Feedback from experts and consumers confirm that when choosing, it is necessary to determine which energy source will be used when operating this device. Depending on what will be brought up to heat the water, the units are divided into two types. They can be gas or electric.

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment? Consumer reviews indicate that gas appliances are cheaper to operate. At first glance, it may seem that this option would be the most acceptable for apartment owners. However, this is not quite true. The cheaper type will bring the water up to the set temperature very slowly. In addition, to install this device, you will need to involve specialists from the gas service for help. They will charge for laying additional pipes and ventilation duct. The end result is a pretty decent amount.

Gas boilers are also quite expensive, heating an impressive amount of water. In addition, there is no point in placing such units in a small apartment.

As for electric water heaters, all models of this type of device are powered by a network:

220 volts (single phase);
- (three-phase).

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment? User reviews indicate that the most powerful devices are connected to a 380 volt network. Such devices heat water very quickly, but their cost is quite high. In addition, for such units it will be necessary to carry out powerful wiring, and three-phase networks are not available everywhere. In addition, for old city apartments it is not recommended to choose a water heater that consumes more than 5 kW. Otherwise, the network will simply be overloaded.

If the apartment is located in a new building, then the owner is given the opportunity to choose a more powerful device. How many kilowatts to count in this case can be determined according to the existing project.

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment? Feedback from many people who decide to purchase this useful device, say that they are afraid of a sharp increase in electricity bills. But you shouldn't worry about it. Electric water heaters with average volume and power indicators, with their permanent job cost the owners no more than a couple of hundred rubles a month.

Installation location

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment, you need to decide not only based on the type of energy it consumes. Users note that if the project does not initially provide for a place in which the device should be installed, it is quite difficult to find free space. In addition, the entire structure, together with water, has an impressive weight, which makes it difficult to attach it to non-capital walls. All this is taken into account by modern manufacturers who produce wall-mounted and floor-mounted devices.

If you decide to purchase a water heater for an apartment, which of these two types is better? Wall-mounted appliances save space. Floor water heaters are securely installed on the floor and do not cause the risk of collapse even with large volumes of water in them.

When choosing wall variant before buying, you will need to measure the width and height of the free space with a tape measure. This will allow you to find out the allowable dimensions of the water heater and how it would be best to position it.

Wall units are mounted either horizontally or vertically. At the same time, the manufacturer produces universal devices that can be positioned depending on the available space, as well as special models with one configuration or another.

To date, the manufacturer also offers such water heaters that can be installed directly under the sink. However, their main disadvantage is the limited amount of heated liquid.

Volume

This is one of the important parameters that should also be taken into account when choosing a water heater. In order to determine the required volume of the tank, you will need to take into account the required dimensions of the unit, the number of connection points, as well as the number of family members. For those owners who purchase a water heater only for washing dishes, a tank volume of 10-30 liters is sufficient. But to take a shower of water, you will need more (from 50 to 100 liters). If family members are used to taking a bath, then the maximum volume of the tank is required (up to 150 liters).

Device type

Water heaters are of the following types:

Cumulative;
- flowing;
- cumulative indirect heating.

Let's consider them in more detail.

Storage water heaters

Aggregates of this type are the most popular. In such devices, the entire volume of water in the tank is heated. Storage water heaters bring the temperature of the liquid to a certain limit, and then maintain it at a given level. In this regard, such units are the most economical.

What storage water heater is better to buy in an apartment? One that will allow you to use the necessary volume of water, because with its full consumption, you will again have to wait for the heating of a new portion of the liquid. In this regard, when choosing a model, it is necessary to calculate the size of the tank.

Flow type water heater

As for this type of heater, it has smaller dimensions. However, it should be borne in mind that this device does not allow the water to warm up enough and be very hot. At the same time, such units have more than storage units. However, if we take into account that heating occurs only at those moments when the owners go to the shower or wash the dishes, then the costs will not be very high.

But for apartments with old wiring, it is better not to buy instantaneous water heaters. After all, previously designed networks will not be able to withstand the installation of units whose average power exceeds 6 kW.

Which instantaneous water heater is it better to buy an apartment? To select a device, you will need to evaluate the load that will be placed on the unit.

What power water heater is better to buy in an apartment? In the event that up to three people will use the water, it should be approximately 12 kW. Such power will allow you to keep the performance parameter at the level of up to three liters of hot water for one minute. In this case, the maximum supply temperature will be at least fifty degrees.

How to determine which is better for an apartment?

The choice of such a unit is also based on the available parameters of its power supply. As a rule, water heaters of this type have it at 220 V with a frequency of 20 to 30 Hz. However, in cases where there are problems in the form of power surges in homes, a model must be purchased at 30 Hz.

Storage water heaters with indirect heating

According to user reviews, such units are the most economical. The fact is that their work is carried out with the simultaneous inclusion of a single-circuit heating boiler. In winter, such water heaters use the same energy that is intended for heating.

The main disadvantage of such a device is its difficult installation, which involves insertion into heating system. But if we consider the advantages of using this unit, then it is worth noting that there is no need to connect it to electrical network.

Indirect heating devices are installed, as a rule, in urban private or country houses in which there is an autonomous heating system.

Performance and Power

Which electric water heater is it better to buy an apartment? For selection the best option the device must be looked at in the instructions for its performance, which directly depends on the power.

The strongest dependence of these indicators is observed in instantaneous water heaters, as already mentioned above. In such units, for comfortable consumption of hot water, the power must be above 12 kW. In storage devices, a power of 2 kW is sufficient. The performance of this type of device will be at a sufficient level.

heating elements

When deciding on the choice of a heater, this parameter should also be paid attention to. Manufacturers offer models that provide either one or two heating elements.

In the first case, water heaters use energy, which is controlled by automation. At the same time, to maintain the set temperature level, the device turns on the economy mode. After the full use of water in such units, further heating is carried out slowly.

Which water heater is better to buy in an apartment? With high hot water consumption, models with two heating elements are the most preferred option.

Other selection criteria

Modern devices for heating water are distinguished by low heat loss. This figure is only a few degrees during the day. This becomes possible due to the good thermal insulation of the tanks, for which polyurethane foam, fiberglass or expanded polystyrene are used.

When choosing a water heater, you can compare the heat loss rates for different models. To do this, you need to clarify this parameter in the instructions attached to the device.

Equally important is the service life of the device. On average, it is 5 years, but in best case the manufacturer will indicate a period of up to 7 years. This parameter characterizes the reliability of the water heater. After all, the service life will directly depend on the material used for the tank, as well as on the quality of the applied anti-corrosion coating.

When buying a water heater, you need to focus on its price. It will be directly dependent on all the above parameters, as well as the brand of the device.

Manufacturers

Which brand of water heater is better to buy in an apartment? Inexpensive, but at the same time reliable devices are offered to consumers by Ariston. Affordable at their cost are units manufactured by the Swedish company Electrolux. This manufacturer is considered a leader in the segment of gas water heaters. Electrical units of the company "Electrolux" high quality, and at the same time as expensive as Bosch products.

Cheap, but at the same time, sufficiently high-quality heaters offered by Thermex are becoming increasingly popular on the market. Good user reviews are also received by devices from manufacturers such as Drazice and Gorenje. What brand of water heater is better to buy in an apartment if you need to install a compact device? AEG is the leader in this segment. Below are the most popular models of water heaters.

Ariston ABS BLU R 80V

This water heater stands out among other models with scanty heat loss. The device is very convenient in everyday use due to the lower water supply provided in its design. The main material for the manufacture of the tank of the device is hardened steel. At the same time, the manufacturer reliably protected the body of the device from heat loss by covering it with an aluminum plate.

Users note that the water in such a unit reaches the maximum heating temperature in almost 3-4 hours. Pleases consumers and a capacious tank of 80 liters, which can be easily mounted on the wall. During operation, it is convenient for the owners to monitor the temperature of the water in the tank, which is displayed on a special thermometer.

AEG RMC 75

According to user reviews, this instantaneous water heater is very easy to install. In addition, the device is characterized by productivity and practicality of use.

The instantaneous water heater of this model is capable of bringing up to desired temperature 4-5 liters of water, while consuming 7.5 kW. According to user reviews, the model is perfect for simultaneously connecting to several water intake points.

The design of the device provides for the installation of a copper heating element. He has an indication of work and mechanics. Users note that the model has reliable protection from overheating, as well as from the ingress of water into it

This quality instrument gets a lot positive feedback and thanks to its compactness, as well as stability in operation and durability.

Timberk SWH RS1 80 V

This model, according to consumer reviews, is quite productive, protected and stylish. The manufacturer offers users a device with excellent performance and a pleasant design. The volume of the tank of this model is 80 liters. It heats up water in just two hours. In this case, the device consumes 2 kW.

immutable attribute modern apartment or at home is the availability of hot water, the centralized supply of which is very unreliable. The solution to this problem is to install an additional offline source e.g. electric water heater flow type.

The principle of operation of such a water heater is simple and effective - cold water passes through the heating device of the device, where the TEN almost instantly heats it up to an acceptable temperature - 40-60 degrees. Moreover, such devices do not require constant heating, as in boilers.

Electricity is used only when the tap is opened, and after it is closed, this device turns off the heating element and absolutely does not consume electricity. It is not only convenient, but also economical.

What should be considered when choosing?

To choose the right water heater, you need to decide how it will be used. Its type will depend on this - there are three of them:

  • non-pressure;
  • pressure;
  • faucet heater.

Which type of device to choose is up to you. It will depend on the characteristics of your plumbing and needs, but we will tell you what nuances you need to take into account so as not to be disappointed with the purchase.

In general, the choice comes down to the selection required power which directly affects performance. We will tell you how not to make a mistake here.

When choosing, you need to consider the following parameters:

  • required capacity l/min;
  • desired outlet temperature, in degrees.

You can correctly select the performance of the water heater from the averaged data in the table.

The next step is to determine the required heating temperature.

A comfortable temperature is:

  • for the shower - 38 degrees;
  • for washing dishes and taking a bath - 45 - 55 degrees.

To the above, we add that the performance of an instantaneous water heater is strongly influenced by the temperature of the water at its inlet - the lower it is, the more powerful the device is required. Based on this, when choosing, it is worth starting from the temperature tap water in winter time- no more than 6-7 degrees.

Separately, we want to note that the standard electrical wiring of the apartment can withstand no more than 3 kW of load, therefore, to connect devices of 6 kW or more, you need to provide a separate reliable cable:

  • 3 kW - copper wire section not less than 1.5 mm;
  • 4 kW - 2.5 mm;
  • 6 - 8 kW - 6 mm;
  • 12 kW - at least 10 mm square.

You can choose the manufacturer and model yourself, to your taste, taking into account user reviews.

If there is electricity in the house, apartment or dacha, provide for the family hot water not difficult at all. Available on the market exclusively wide selection heaters for heating tap water.

Storage boilers are considered the most popular, but flow models have their fans. To figure out how to choose a flowing electric water heater, you should study the features of the operation of this device.

The design of an instantaneous water heater is very simple. This is a flask for water, in which a powerful electric heating element made of copper is installed. Additionally, there is a control unit, with its help you can configure the functioning of the device as needed.

The water flow enters the flask, where it is almost instantly heated to the desired temperature and supplied to the distribution points. More powerful models allow you to heat the flow up to 60 degrees, and less powerful ones - up to about 40 degrees.

The photo clearly shows the device of a household electric instantaneous water heater, in which the role of the heating element is performed by a high-power heating element.

The spread of characteristics of instantaneous water heaters in terms of power is quite wide, it varies between 3-27 kW. Devices with a power of up to 8 kW can be safely connected even to an ordinary single-phase 220 V socket, although electricians still recommend that a separate line be drawn from the meter for this powerful device.

High-power heaters can only be connected to a three-phase 380 kW power supply, which is usually equipped with houses with electric stoves.

If you need to connect a powerful heater, but there is no confidence in the reliability of your electrical network, you should consult an experienced electrician. Sometimes the network can be modified, but this is not always possible.

Advantages and disadvantages of "protochnik"

Among the advantages of flow heaters, several points should be noted:

  • Usually these are compact devices, it is easier to find a suitable place for them.
  • A separate tank is not required to obtain a stable flow of hot water.
  • Electricity is consumed only during the operation of the device.
  • The device is not difficult to install and operate.
  • Installation does not require a chimney.
  • The operation of the device does not depend on the characteristics of the supply and exhaust ventilation.

But when choosing an instantaneous water heater, you should also remember about its shortcomings. To begin with, “protochniki” consume quite a bit during operation. a large number of electricity, which is inevitably reflected in utility bills.

In addition, the quality of heating will depend on how many hot water consumption points the heater serves at the same time. If there are many such points, and the power of the device is not enough, there will be too little water, or it will not warm up fast enough.

Instantaneous water heaters are compact in size, which greatly facilitates their installation. When installing, it is important to comply with the requirements for power supply characteristics.

High power consumption requires relevant conditions work. Installation of a device with a power of more than 8 kW is possible only to a modern three-phase electrical network.

Unfortunately at home old building not always equipped in this way. In such conditions, installation of flow heaters with a power of up to 6 kW is allowed. You can clarify the features of your electrical network in the housing office or with a local electrician.

The condition of the wiring in the house also matters. Of course, it must be correct. It is recommended to use high-quality copper wire for such powerful devices as flow heaters.

The cross section of the cable must correspond to the power of the device. On this issue, you can also consult with a good electrician.

Low-power devices have a significant drawback: they are convenient for operation only in the warm season, when the temperature of the water coming from the water supply is at least 15 degrees. A low-power device can raise the temperature of the water by another 25 degrees, i.e. up to a very comfortable 40 degrees.

If for some reason the water supplied to the heater does not have time to warm up to the desired level, the quality of heating will be unsatisfactory.

There are instantaneous water heaters that are installed directly on the sink. In this case, there is no need to bring separate hot water pipes to the sink.

Attempts to connect a device designed for three-phase network, to a conventional 220 V electrical network can be fatal for a tankless water heater, and for electricians, and even for people. Do not take risks and arrange an electrical accident in the house. A network with the necessary characteristics can be connected to a private household, a summer house or a cottage.

To do this, contact the local power supply company and obtain a special permit - specifications to connect the electrical installation.

You can get acquainted with the features of connecting and operating an Electrolux electric instantaneous water heater with a power of 3.5 kW in the following video:

What you need to know about the types of flow heaters

Although manufacturers offer big choice flow type water heaters, according to the type of installation and features of operation, they can be divided into two large groups: pressure and non-pressure.

Pressure models are mounted in the water supply riser, they are designed to simultaneously provide hot water to several points of consumption.

Pressure-type instantaneous water heaters are connected directly to the water supply system of a house or apartment. They can serve several points of hot water consumption at once.

The device is equipped with an inlet for cold water and an outlet for hot water, from which water is supplied through pipes to the places of consumption.

Thus, if with the help of a flow heater it is supposed to provide hot water to the entire apartment or the whole house, it makes sense to opt for a pressure water heater.

Non-pressure instantaneous water heaters are usually characterized by low power, moderate price and high popularity. The device is equipped with special attachments, such as a shower head

Non-pressure devices are used in cases where only one specific point of consumption needs hot water. Usually this is a shower or bath, a sink in the kitchen, etc.

The device is installed in close proximity to the point of hot water consumption, cold water enters through the inlet pipe, and hot water is supplied through a special nozzle, for example, through a shower head. Heaters of this type are a popular choice for summer cottages.

Device selection: what to look for

Before you go to the store, you should decide on a number of indicators that characterize the operation of the water heater:

  • The number of consumption points to which heated water will be supplied.
  • The total volume of water that will be consumed per unit of time when switched on simultaneously at all points of consumption.
  • The power of the device, which will provide sufficient heating temperature.

In addition, a number of questions should be clarified already in the store:

  • The level of complexity of the installation of the device, which can be carried out independently or with the help of a specialist.
  • The cost of installing a heater (sometimes you can get a discount or even free installation services).
  • Availability and cost of spare parts that may be needed in the event of a product breakdown.
  • Duration of the warranty period.
  • The procedure for warranty service.

The last point is very important, because sometimes it is quite difficult to get a warranty repair service from a little-known manufacturer, despite the fact that the warranty is provided. The warranty repair center may be located in a neighboring city, region, or even in another country.

The maximum amount of hot water that the device can produce per unit of time depends on the heater power. Low-power appliances can supply two to six liters of water per minute. The actual heating when using such a device usually takes only 20 seconds.

Usually this amount of water is enough to quickly take a shower and wash the dishes. If the needs of the residents of the house exceed these figures, a more powerful water heater will be needed.

Using this scheme, it is not difficult to determine what level of hot water the family needs for a comfortable stay in the house.

To find out your family's need for hot water, you can make simple practical calculations using a bucket of known capacity, for example 8, 10 or 12 liters. Water is let in with the usual pressure and the time during which the bucket is filled is noted.

Dividing the number of liters by the number of seconds obtained and multiplying the result by 60 determines the need for hot water for this particular point of consumption. You can immediately divide liters into minutes so that you do not have to additionally multiply by 60, but if the number of minutes is not an integer, you should correctly convert additional seconds to tenths / hundredths of a minute. For example:

1 min. 30 sec. = 1.5 min.

45 sec. = 0.75 min.

2 minutes. 15 sec. = 2.25 min. etc.

The same practical measurements and simple calculations should be carried out for each hot water consumption point, and then summarize the result.

Information about the performance of an instantaneous water heater is contained in the product data sheet, and this indicator is also usually indicated in the product description on the websites of manufacturers, online stores, in brochures, etc.

To determine the power of an instantaneous water heater, you can use a completely scientific formula that uses data on the need for a point of consumption / house / apartment in hot water. Calculate the power of the device according to the following formula:

P \u003d Q × (t 1 - t 2) × 0.073, where:

P— power of instantaneous water heater, W;

Q- the required flow of hot water, l / min .;

t1- the required temperature of hot water supplied to the point of consumption, 0 С;

t2 is the temperature of the water entering the heating device, 0 С;

0,073 - correction factor.

Here is an approximate calculation of the power of an instantaneous water heater for a conditional situation when the hot water consumption level is 15 l / min, the outlet water temperature should be 400C, and the operating water temperature at the inlet is on average 100C.

In this case, the power of the instantaneous water heater should be P = 15 × (40-10) × 0.073 = 32.85 kW. This is a fairly high power, the purchase of such a device will cost a lot.

Before choosing a suitable instantaneous water heater, you should evaluate the upcoming costs not only for its purchase and installation, but also for further operation.

The higher the power of the device, the more electricity is consumed during its operation, but the higher the water temperature that can be obtained using such a device. It all depends on the needs and specific conditions.

For example, if in the country house hot water is needed only for washing dishes or for taking a shower, a model with a power of up to 8 kW is sufficient. Such a device is quite enough to solve these small household tasks.

If hot water needs to be provided big house especially throughout the year, not just in summer period, you will have to consider devices with a power of 18 kW.

It is also worth evaluating the location of hot water consumption points. Usually, if the shower stall and the kitchen are nearby, it is possible to use one low power device for these two points.

True, hot water will be supplied to only one consumer: either in the shower or in the kitchen.

The diagram clearly demonstrates the features of installing an instantaneous water heater. It is worth deciding on the location of the device and the order of its connection even before purchase

If funds allow, you can increase the comfort in the house with the help of two small-capacity water heaters. One is placed in the kitchen, and the other is in the bathroom or in the shower.

They do not take up much space, so having two devices will not create big problems. For a shower, it makes sense to buy a water heater equipped with a block remote control. However, the device can be placed directly in the shower.

Such devices are usually designed to work in conditions high humidity, so he is not afraid of splashes.

Some models of instantaneous water heaters are equipped with a remote control unit. Such devices are very convenient to use in the shower.

What is the price?

It should be noted that in Russia the most popular are the flow heaters Termeks, Electrolux, etc. Traditionally, models of the well-known company Bosch are of high quality.

Among Electrolux devices, the Smartfix 5.5 T, Smartfix 6.5 T, Smartfix 2.0 6.5 T models with a power of 5.5-6.5 kW are very popular. The cost of such devices ranges from 50-70 dollars.

Popular instantaneous water heaters from Termex include the Stream 350, Stream 500, Stream 700 models, their power is 3.5 kW, 5.0 kW and 7.0 kW, respectively. The price varies approximately within the limits of 80-100 dollars.

If you need to pick up a high-power device, it makes sense to consider the line of instantaneous water heaters from VAILLANT. The cost of devices with a power of 12-27 kW ranges from 210 to 230 dollars.

In general, buyers tend to choose low-power models of “protos” that are simpler and more convenient to operate. Where a large amount of hot water is required, the choice is usually made in favor of a storage water heater, which is slightly cheaper during operation.

This explains the low popularity of instantaneous water heaters with high power.

To reduce energy consumption and minimize the flow of water by providing sufficient water pressure, very small holes are made in the shower heads of free-flow “flows”. Over time, these holes become clogged due to lime scale and poor water quality.

After this contamination is usually not difficult to remove with a stiff brush or a metal sponge.

The holes in the shower head of an instantaneous water heater are specially made small to reduce water consumption. Special filters help protect the device from pollution

When a specific heater model is selected, it is recommended to carefully study the manufacturer's instructions before purchase. This will help to understand the installation features of the device, as well as to evaluate the features of its operation, i.e. how convenient it will be to use the device after installation.

Small water heaters that are purchased for summer cottages are recommended to be removed and taken to a warm apartment at the end of the season.

In the spring, the heater is not difficult to connect again, but to provide enough good conditions storage on unheated dacha can be quite difficult.

Instruction

The choice of a water heater primarily depends on the personal preferences of the owners, as well as on the possibilities and on the amount of space in the bathroom. Accumulative takes up a lot of space, the larger its tank, the more space needed to install it. Such water heaters save electricity, but the heating time also increases in accordance with the volume of water. You should not worry about wiring with this type of water heater either. If you accustom yourself to turn on such a water heater in advance, there will be no problem with hot water.

Heaters of this type work on the principle of heating. Volumes range from 5 to 100 liters, if this is not enough, it is possible to modify the system and install an additional tank. It is these heaters that are ideal for a holiday village, as they do not require a lot of electricity, and heating water once, keeps it warm for a long time. For this, a heat-insulating gasket is provided on the tank. There are also water heating systems in which the tank is equipped with a separator. In such a boiler, instead of poured water, new water immediately enters, and the separator prevents mixing of already heated and cold water.

Instantaneous water heaters take up almost no space, but a lot of electricity or gas is spent on continuous heating of water, depending on the type of water heater. In order to heat the amount of water needed for a shower or bath to an acceptable temperature, you need a device with a power of at least 8 kW. In houses with old, worn-out wiring, it is not safe to do so, unless you run a separate and protected network to connect the water heater.

The instantaneous water heater turns on as soon as the water tap opens, also automatically when the water is turned off. But the need for high power power makes it almost impossible to install such a device in an apartment, although it is there that it, with its small size, would come in handy. An unlimited amount of hot water is also a definite plus in favor of a flow heater.

As a rule, the price of an instantaneous water heater is significantly lower than. But given how they will grow for electricity, such a purchase still seems doubtful as a savings. In any case, the choice is yours.

note

If in flow heater a spiral is installed, not a heating element, it will burn out if there is an air lock in the tank.
A valve must be attached to the storage heater, which bleeds the excess water formed from heating.

Summer for many is overshadowed by an unpleasant circumstance - turning off hot water, and if there are young children in the family, this becomes a serious inconvenience. In order not to depend on scheduled repairs of utilities and not to lose your usual comfort, you should purchase an electric household water heater.
What should be guided by when choosing a water heater and which model to prefer?

When buying a device that supplies you with hot water, you need to consider many different factors: the number of people living in the apartment, the size and configuration of the room, the purpose of using hot water, daily consumption, the ability to connect to the apartment's electrical network. Based on this, you can choose either a storage water heater (boiler) or a flow.

storage water heater

This device is a storage tank for water with a built-in electric heater - heating element. The consumer sets the desired temperature, the built-in thermostat turns on a heating element and the water is heated to desired value. The temperature is automatically maintained in the set mode, so the water does not actually cool down.

The rate of water heating directly depends on the size of the storage tank. Small containers with a volume of 30-50 liters are heated in 40-50 minutes, and large ones, with a capacity of up to 500 liters, can be heated up to 4 hours or longer. For a standard family of 4, a 150-litre heater is usually sufficient if, among other things, you plan to take a bath.

Storage water heaters can be vertical and horizontal, wall or floor mounting.

What are the advantages of a storage water heater?

  • One of undoubted advantages is a low power consumption - no more than 3 kW. The boiler can be installed in any house where there is running water, without fear of electrical wiring - all models can be operated from a 220 V outlet.
  • The storage heater supplies hot water to all draw-off points. One boiler can serve the bathroom, kitchen and shower.
  • The heated water maintains a stable temperature due to automatic heating and the "thermos" effect due to the high thermal insulation of the tank.
  • It is always possible to choose a model that is most suitable in configuration and aesthetically fits into the design of the room.

What are the disadvantages of a storage water heater?

  • The main disadvantage of the boiler is that it takes up quite a lot of space. There may be problems with the placement of the device, especially in small rooms.
  • The storage water heater constantly uses electricity to maintain the temperature in the tank, even when the water is not in use.
  • If the water suddenly turned out to be insufficient, you will have to wait until it heats up.
  • To install the device, a reliable wall is required, as well as massive fasteners with special hooks and brackets for hanging, if it is a horizontal placement model. Of the other options - the availability of free space for installing a floor structure.
  • Boiler service is required from time to time. Tens over time tend to become covered with scale, especially with poor-quality purified water.

Instantaneous water heater

A flowing water heater is fundamentally different not only in appearance, but also on the principle of operation from the accumulative. In this compact design, water coming from water supply network, passes through the working thermal elements and instantly heats up. A high-power heating element is installed in the body of the device, due to which cold water is instantly converted into hot water, without a storage stage.

The flow heater has a hydraulic switch that controls the flow rate. When the water supply is increased, it turns on the maximum number of heat elements, when it is weakened, it reduces their number.

What are the advantages of an instantaneous water heater?

  • The device has small size and is convenient for mounting in small apartments.
  • Provides unlimited hot water at any time.
  • The device is built directly into the water riser, which is convenient in conditions in a city apartment.

What are the disadvantages of an instantaneous water heater?

  • To install an instantaneous water heater, you will need a separate power cable from the shield, because the device consumes a large amount of energy - from 8 to 20 kW.
  • In the cold season, the boiler may not give out hot, but warm water due to the low temperature in the system.
  • The device cannot regulate the heating power, the electric circuit closes only when a certain flow level is reached, after which the heating is turned on.
  • The design of an instantaneous water heater does not allow distributing water to several water points at once.

The ideal solution to the problem of hot water is an instantaneous storage water heater that combines best performance both devices and provides perfect ratio between comfort and cost.

The boiler is considered one of the most common types of electric water heaters, - similar device heats water quickly and requires almost no maintenance. However, in order to choose the right boiler, you need to know the features of its device and operation.

The principle of operation of an electric water heater is simple: inside a container filled with water, there is a heating element, usually in the form of a tube, a coil. It is connected to the heating boiler through a special circuit (sometimes through a pump). As a result, water passes through the coil or tube and heats up. By type of work, there are two main types of boiler, each of which has its own characteristics.

Storage water heaters

These are containers, most often made of stainless steel, in which there are heating elements - heating elements. They are connected to the electrical network through a thermal relay. When the water is heated to a predetermined temperature, the contacts are activated and the heating elements are turned off. As soon as the temperature drops, the relay is activated again and the heating elements start working again. Typically, storage boilers use heating elements with a power of not more than 2.5 kW.

Flow boilers

They differ from the previous type of water heaters in the absence of capacity. These devices are most often connected in the kitchen or in the bathroom to quickly heat the running water stream. In order for the latter to instantly heat up, a large electrical power is required, which can be in the range of 3-27 kW, depending on the model of the boiler. When connecting an instantaneous water heater, you should consider the capabilities of your electrical wiring, which may not withstand the increased load.

Design features of boilers

The most vulnerable element of the boiler is the heating element. To protect it from the effects of hard water and subsequent destruction, manufacturers cover the element with a homogeneous enamel. If the tank is made of metal, then a magnesium anode installed inside is used to prevent corrosion. There are other ways to protect against rust: for example, an internal titanium coating (enamel). Corrosion is absent in boilers made of porcelain, however, such products serve no more than 3 years due to cracks that appear over time. The most reliable water heater is considered to have a tank made entirely of titanium (warranty period of operation is at least 10 years). But such boilers are quite expensive, so most people prefer to use steel or stainless steel products with a warranty period of 5-7 years.

Additional conveniences at operation of water heaters are provided with electronic devices. This may be a thermostat, software that allows you to turn on the boiler during low tariff hours (at night). A number of products are equipped with a display that allows you to control the operation of the device.
