How to make a horizontal sawmill from a chainsaw

Each of them is fixed on both sides of the hole with two nuts. A 2 mm thick steel plate is attached to one of them, on which a chainsaw is mounted. The opposite end of the saw bar is threaded onto the second rod with a wooden spacer and fixed with nuts and washers. After preparation, the saw starts and moves along the round timber in a direction convenient for the operator.

Similar to the previous version, this sawmill is also equipped with a mobile unit, but its device is more complicated. At the base is a piece of steel corner 50 × 50 about a meter long. M10 threaded studs are installed through the holes in it, fixed with two nuts. A steel plate 1-2 mm thick is attached to the same rods, which ensures a stable position of the chainsaw in a horizontal plane. The cutting tool itself is also fixed with a tire to the second end of the threaded studs, one end fixed on the base of the slider.

Such, at first glance, a complex arrangement of the device is actually justified, since a complex system fastening of the saw takes on the main load during operation and, importantly, allows cutting tool take a firm horizontal position. In the design described above, the structure of the sled does not provide such a confident vertical position of the chainsaw.
