What are narcissists? Varieties, their description and names. Narcissus hybrid and its varieties

Narcissus is a monocotyledonous flowering plant belonging to the Amaryllis family. One of the most common flowering plants among domestic flower growers, the varietal variety is so large that it is no longer possible to give an exact figure. A characteristic feature of the culture is the presence of ribbon-like leaves of different widths, as well as bulbs. Inflorescences are formed at the top of a leafless stem, which is covered with a membranous sheath.

Popular varieties of daffodils. Short description

Depending on the variety, plants can be multi-flowered or solitary. The perianth is characterized by a petal-shaped form, it includes six components. Visually, the flowers are a lobed or solid bell, which has a trihedral lower ovary and six stamens.

Note: due to the rich pleasant aroma that the plant exudes during flowering, it was used in ancient times for the preparation of perfumes.

The flower most readily grows in Europe, but is also common in Mediterranean countries. Exists big variety varieties, the main ones are:

  • Narcissus Replete. Narcissus Replit breeds vegetatively. Tolerates direct sunlight well lush bloom can be contemplated in shade and partial shade. From each stem grows several wide flat leaves, have a rich green color. On one pedicel, several buds can form, flowers of a pale pink color are formed, the terry edging has a peach tint. Plant height can reach 50 cm. They are actively used for landscaping garden plots.

  • Narcissus Cassata belongs to the cyclamen family. The variety was bred in 1584, brought to Russia from Germany and the Caucasus Mountains. The plant has a short stature, as a rule, it does not exceed 25 cm. One inflorescence is formed on the pedicel, the bud is strongly lowered to the ground. The color is bright yellow, the petals are raised up.
  • Narcissus Obdam belongs to the terry group of plants. During flowering exudes a pleasant, refined aroma. Each flower is formed on a separate pedicel, the color is beige tones. The buds are impressive in size, when opened, their diameter can reach 10 cm. The height can reach half a meter. The duration of flowering is not more than 10-12 days.
  • Narcissus Tahiti. Narcissus Tahiti is the owner of large terry inflorescences, the height of which reaches 10 cm. The main color of the petals is yellow. Inside is a red-orange crown. In the active growth phase, the height of the plant reaches 35 cm. It has dark green leaves that form below the buds. The variety reproduces vegetatively, grows on household plots. Prefers moist soil and full sun. By the end of flowering, the saturation of the color fades, a pleasant aroma does not cease to exude.
  • Narcissus Avalon was brought from the mountains. In the wild, the flower grows near water bodies and on hills. The culture is growing rapidly, he likes the neighborhood with chestnut trees. For lush flowering, the flower must be provided with the optimal amount of moisture. The plant reaches a height of half a meter. Propagated by bulbs, which are characterized by the shape of a chicken egg. One bush is capable of producing no more than 5 flat leaves. They have a rich green color. Flowers are formed white, the core is bright yellow. The diameter of the blossoming flower reaches 6 cm, the duration of flowering is 12 days.

Landing and care

Daffodils belongs to the group of perennials. They can grow in partial shade, but still prefer sunny areas, indicators of winter hardiness are average. In care and planting, plants are unpretentious; they do not take much time from the agronomist. Willingly grows on ordinary garden soil, loves moderate moisture.

Important: the ideal place for growing is a plot with medium shade, the soil is loamy.

A month before the expected date of planting, mineral and organic fertilizers, as well as peat and sand, must be applied to the soil. The most favorable time for planting is the second or third decade of September. Thanks to this, the bulbs have the opportunity to take root in a new place and adapt. Also, the culture can be grown in a pot. Shortly before planting, the bulbs must be treated with a disinfectant, such as a weak solution of manganese. The optimal temperature range for the development of perennials is + 18-22 degrees.

Note: the bulbs of these plants do not need to be transplanted for several years. Experienced agronomists recommend growing daffodils in one place for no more than six years.

Care for daffodils

Care does not include any unusual requirements. Enough basic care and regular application of mineral and organic fertilizers to the soil (the optimal frequency during the growing season is 3 times). The first top dressing is carried out shortly after the appearance of the first shoots, the second - during the formation of buds and the third - shortly after flowering. There is no need to fertilize after flowering.

Note: for creating flower arrangements flowers are recommended to be broken out, not cut off. This method is less traumatic for a flowering crop.

For wintering and breeding, it is necessary to use only high-quality and healthy planting material. To the touch, the bulbs should be elastic, large in size. The color of the covering scales is white or yellow. Their obvious peeling may indicate the course of various fungal diseases.

The duration of flowering is usually long, from April to June. When growing crops in northern regions countries need to cover the plants before the onset of frost.

Watering daffodils

Diseases and pests

Narcissists, unfortunately, are subject to a large number of diseases and pest attacks. The most common pathologies:

  • Sclerocial rot;
  • A serious disease is fusarium.

As for insects, the plant is susceptible to attack by such pests:

  • thrips;
  • Stem, bulbous and root nematodes;
  • Bulb and daffodil flies.

Daffodils are attractive bulbous perennials that have good decorative properties. Due to the great abundance of varieties and species, every agronomist has the opportunity to create an incredible flower arrangement in the flower beds.

Narcissus is one of the world's favorite bulbous plants, so flowering daffodils in the spring can be found in almost every garden.

For more than half a century, five countries have dominated the selection of daffodils (England,
Ireland, USA, Australia, New Zealand), where almost the entire modern assortment of these beautiful plants was created.
Separate varieties of daffodils were obtained in Latvia, Scotland, Canada and Holland.

In the late 80s of the last century, we visited American flower shows for the first time. They were simply shocked by the new varieties of daffodils, their varied colors and strict geometry of forms. We rediscovered this culture for ourselves!
The impression from the presented flowers was so strong that even now it seems to us that one can understand and appreciate the true beauty of daffodils only at the exhibition - when dozens of similar (at first glance) varieties are demonstrated. Walking between the rows of the exposition and carefully looking at the flowers, even a novice florist sees the differences between one variety and another, notices their advantages and disadvantages.

Look out for daffodils! This culture is not for the surface. It can only be understood in comparison, after viewing many varieties, which allows you to do.

Selection of daffodils of some classes

Consider the most popular classes of daffodils that have received the most attention from world breeders.

TUBE daffodils(Class 1) - one of the most beloved in the world, a key class among other daffodils.
In Russia, tubular daffodils are not yet so popular, but we are sure that this situation will change soon. Now breeders are actively working with this class.

In tubular daffodils, the top of the peduncle is crowned with a single flower with a long tube, the color of which can be white, yellow, pink or orange. Perianth segments white or yellow.

LARGE-SHONED Daffodils(Class 2) - the largest class with universal use of flowers (for cutting, and garden decoration). Varieties of this class make up about a third of total number daffodils in The International Daffodil Register and Classified List maintained by The Royal Horticultural Society

Daffodils of this class have one flower on the peduncle with a crown, the length of which is 30-100% of the length of the perianth lobes.
In large-crowned daffodils, the perianth segments are yellow, orange or white. The crown can be white, pink, yellow, orange, red and with a green "eye" in the center.

SMALL-SHONED Daffodils(Class 3) have one flower on a high peduncle with a small crown, up to a third of the length of the perianth.

Small-crowned daffodils usually have a delicate aroma. They are versatile: suitable for cutting, forcing and decorating the garden.
The interest of flower growers in this group of daffodils has increased recently, as Western breeders have bred many beautiful varieties with a wide variety of colors.
In small-crowned daffodils, the perianth lobes are yellow, orange, and white. The crown can be white, pink, yellow, orange, red and with a green "eye" in the center.

Small-crowned daffodils attract our attention more and more every year due to the presence of attractive varieties with a green “eye”. We are sure that daffodils green tones in coloring will soon become very popular!

Terry daffodils(Class 4) - the most popular class of daffodils in Russia. This versatile class is ideal for cutting, forcing and garden decoration.

Double daffodils have one or more flowers on a single peduncle with numerous perianth and/or crown lobes.
The perianth segments of terry daffodils are yellow, orange and white. The crown can be white, pink, yellow, orange and even red.
IN last years breeders managed to get a combined color of the double crown of daffodils in combination with an excellent flower shape. Leadership in the selection of terry daffodils was taken by the British in the person of Duncan. The hybrids of this breeder win all the highest awards in their homeland and in the world, and his DORCHESTER narcissus has become the standard of the terry variety.
We are very pleased that we were able to establish a promising relationship with this breeder, and annually acquire all of his the best novelties(some still as seedlings).

Daffodils with split crown(Class 11) have an exotic appearance. Interest in split-crowned daffodils is growing really fast!
Most interesting varieties daffodils of this class are now bred in Australia and New Zealand. From there, it is very difficult to introduce them into Russia due to the semi-annual shift of the seasons; Yes, we have a very different climate.

Daffodils in Russia

The demand for daffodils from Russian professionals and amateur flower growers is now growing like an avalanche. And this is not surprising. After all, plant collectors and gardeners are getting closer acquainted with the world's assortment, which is becoming more and more accessible to Russians, and are beginning to understand this culture.

Daffodils are easier to select than. Indeed, the seeds of daffodils have good germination and almost one hundred percent laying of onions in the first year of life (and in tulips, 90-95% of seedlings do not form an onion and disappear). In addition, the first seedlings of daffodils bloom in the 5th year, while tulip seedlings - in the 6th or even 7th year.

We want the selection of daffodils to be carried out in Russia as well.
By the way, to engage in selection work is considered profitable from an economic point of view. New variety narcissus in the year of introduction in the West costs $60-150, and the price for it falls very, very slowly (only after half a century it drops to $5-6 per bulb). Despite such high prices for novelty daffodils, there is great interest in them among collectors and plant lovers in different countries, including in Russia.

Our large collection of daffodils, collected over many years and including representatives of all classes, we try to replenish with the best novelties.
We love daffodils very much and are almost "ripe" for serious breeding work with this crop. For all varieties of daffodils included in our collection, we found parent pairs. Read the right books. Conducted consultations with several breeders. Have already done test crossings of their plants.

The introduction of plants is our hobby, which is devoted to free time from the main work. Fortunately, our main scientific work is of great benefit to floriculture. As PhDs in Chemistry and Biology, we actively use our knowledge for growing and propagating plants, and in the last decade for plant breeding. Scientific concepts such as genes, cloning, mutagenesis, viruses, (agro)bacteria, auxins, cytokinins, cell and tissue culture, plant transformation, embryo rescue technology, in situ hybridization and much, much more are not something for us " transcendental”, available to the most advanced biotech firms in the US and Europe. We work with these concepts and methods every day for 10-12 hours in the working laboratory, and they are increasingly being used in our hobbies - selection and floriculture.
It just so happened that reputable (and not so) companies with some disdain call us amateur flower growers, hinting at a lack of professionalism. Yes, we are amateurs, if we mean by this word our love to grow (and not just sell) plants. And we have been doing this for 37 years already, if we count from the first carbon copy list of varieties in our collection. If we sum up our individual experience scientific work with flowers (almost 60 years), then the question of professionalism disappears by itself.

Tulip varieties today, there are about 10 thousand, and all of them are divided into 15 classes.

By using varieties from different classes, continuous flowering can be achieved from late April to early June. In the garden, this plant is versatile. Colorful lawns and borders, groups on the background of the lawn, in mixborders and even on rocky hills - tulips can do any task.

And what a variety of flowers - from simple goblet-shaped to the most exotic, fringed, terry, similar to roses and peonies. The color palette is also striking - from snow-white to almost black. There is, perhaps, only a blue tulip, but there are green ones, however, not the whole flower, but only individual strokes, stripes and spots on the perianth lobes.

Varieties with a simple flower shape look great in bulk, in group plantings under trees or on a lawn. They make the most natural picturesque lawns. More original tulips (peony, green-flowered, parrot, fringed) are best planted near paths or resting places so that you can admire each flower individually.

Narcissus (Narcissus) is a low-maintenance culture, but in order for the plants to bloom perfectly for many years, they should still be looked after.

For good growth and development they require nitrogen and potassium. At the very beginning of the growing season, at the time of leaf growth, daffodils are fed with nitrogen fertilizers, and when flower stalks begin to appear, potash fertilizers. The most active consumption of nutrients is observed at the beginning of flowering. The optimal feeding scheme is shown below.

For the first time, nitrogen fertilizers are applied, for example, "Kemira spring" (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water) or nitroammophoska 125 - 30 g / m 2). However, you should not get carried away, since an excess of nitrogen at the very beginning of the growing season can provoke too active growth of leaves, which will develop weak, narrow and unnecessarily long. The second top dressing is carried out during the formation of the peduncle - nitrogen and potassium are introduced, the third - during full budding ( complex fertilizer, containing all three macronutrients) and the last, fourth, - phosphorus-potassium - during flowering. In no case do not use organic fertilizers, especially fresh manure, it can provoke the appearance of such a dangerous pest as the narcissus fly.

During growth and development, and most importantly, flowering, it is important to ensure sufficient soil moisture, since the daffodil culture is quite moisture-loving. If there is no rain, water the plants, especially just before and during flowering.

It is not difficult to choose a comfortable site, this culture is quite shade-tolerant. The soil prefers well-drained and rich nutrients, slightly alkaline, although it can put up with slightly acidic.

It grows in one place for five years, and sometimes longer. As soon as the daffodils stop actively blooming, they need to be transplanted.

Narcissus is a great plant for decorating a spring garden.

It looks spectacular in large arrays against the background of the lawn. There are several options for creating such arrays. The first is to cut out a piece of turf and plant daffodils in this place in a group. The second - the bulbs are carefully scattered on the lawn, and then in those places where they fell, they remove the sod and plant plants. In the second case, a more natural, picturesque lawn is obtained. It is possible to mow a lawn with daffodils only after the foliage turns yellow in the latter. If you cut green leaves, next year flowering will be weaker, or you can not wait for it at all. But not all varieties are suitable for creating such a lawn, too elegant from the Terry, Large-crowned, Tatset-shaped groups are not suitable, but the Small-crowned ones will come in handy. Such plantings remain decorative for many years.

Daffodils are wonderful cut flowers.

Cut them in the phase of a colored bud. But you should not immediately place them in the same vase with other flowers, as the stems secrete mucus containing toxic substances. But if you hold the daffodils for several hours in water and then do not refresh the cut, they can be put in a common bouquet.

Another option for using daffodils in the garden is curtains.

On the lawn, near recreational areas or along paths, picturesque plantings can be created. Curtains differ from groups big size. Both the same and different varieties are planted in them, with various terms flowering. Curtains near ponds look good. Often daffodils are used for spring decoration of mixborders. Bulbs are planted in the so-called technical zones - the gaps between perennials.

Varieties of daffodil - photo and description

Narcissus has a huge number of varieties. Not every plant can boast of such attention of breeders. For more than 200 years, scientists have been working on obtaining new cultivars. To date, there are more than 30 thousand. varieties bred in England, America, Holland and Northern Ireland.

At the beginning, selection was aimed at obtaining varieties with white and yellow flowers. Of course, there were quite a few interesting shades: from snowy white to creamy and slightly greenish and from chicken to dark orange. But almost a sensation was the introduction in England of the first pink daffodil - Mrs. R.O. Beckhouse. Now quite a lot of pink varieties have already been obtained (at the end of the 20th century there were 60 pink cultivars in America), one of the parents of which is the very first pink daffodil.

Narcissus hybrid (Narcissus x hybridus) - a perennial plant with basal linear leaves. Peduncle without leaves, at the end bears a node with an outgoing pedicel. Flowers of different sizes, single or in racemes, simple or double, but always fragrant - all these indicators depend on the variety.

Perianth with a tube of various lengths and a crown of various shapes and sizes. The bulbs are flask-shaped, ovoid or rounded, with brown or golden scales. Bulbs have one characteristic feature - the presence of two renewal buds, which are usually at different stages of development.

Daffodils in garden design

Daffodils are a very beautiful and, most importantly, unpretentious culture. Unlike tulips, these plants do not need to be dug up every year and planted again in the fall. In one place they grow for 5-7 years

Breeders do not get tired of pleasing gardeners, annually releasing 200 new varieties of narcissus, and in total there are now more than 30 thousand in the world assortment. They differ in the shape and color of the flowers, in the timing and duration of flowering.

Which varieties to choose, how to use them in the garden?

We'll talk about this. Undoubtedly, large-scale compositions created from thousands of bulbs look extremely decorative, but they are only suitable for very large plots, and they will look even better in city parks.

For example, every year in the spring in the famous Dutch park Keukenhof, you can admire kilometer-long multi-colored bulbous ribbons. This spectacle is fascinating, but requires both serious financial investments and labor-intensive maintenance. Therefore, only at first glance it seems that it is easy to make compositions from spring-flowering bulbs, planted different bright varieties tulips and daffodils - and you're done. But after all, the composition of such plants will be decorative only a short time, then the bulbs turn yellow, and then the leaves die off altogether.

And the bare earth remains in their place. Therefore, bulbs, including daffodils, are planted in the so-called technical zones, that is, between perennials. In early spring they are pleasing to the eye, and after flowering, perennials already have time to grow up and cover their withered foliage.

Daffodils are harmonious in any garden, they can be planted not only in mixborders, they are successfully used in various types flower decoration. Groups of daffodils look beautiful against the backdrop of a lawn, and the groups can be of different sizes.

They look very natural under the trees, and how good daffodils are against the background of spring-flowering shrubs, such as almonds, felted cherries or forsythia!

Low grades are suitable for creating borders along the paths, as well as for decorating rocky slides and containers. “Bouquets” of different varieties of daffodils that bloom at the same time look extremely impressive.

For each option, it is better to use different varieties.

To create large groups and even arrays, varieties of bright colors should be planted, but without frills - yellow ( Gold Medallion, Golden Harvest, Red Marvel, ScarlettO Hara, Crown Jewel, Golden Ducat, Tahiti, Flyer, Gold Collar, Royal Highness), white Cassata, Papillon Blanc, Acropolis, Cheerfulness, Tibet, Empress of Ireland). If you plan to create a border of daffodils along the path or plant them in groups near the gazebo, bench or entrance to the house, preference should be given to varieties with an unusual flower shape or color so that you can enjoy their beauty by looking at each flower.

Use cultivars from the groups Large Crowned Cool Flame with a bright pink crown or Passionate with a bright red crown against a background of cream petals) or Terry Obdam, large, snow-white, like cream ice cream, with a yellowish tinge in the center).

Also, varieties from the Split-crown group are suitable for admiring, they are all good, for example, the delicious Mondial is creamy with a huge lemon yellow crown.

COMBINATIONS OF OTHER COLORS WITH NARCISS

1. Against the backdrop of bright spring shrubs daffodils contrasting with them in color look especially expressive. For example, in the photo, the bright yellow daffodil "Sun Chariot" effectively stands out against the background of a rich pink evergreen rhododendron.

2. Snow-white low daffodils can serve as an excellent backdrop for taller and brighter bulbous ones, such as tulips or, as in the photo, imperial hazel grouse "Lutea".

3. White daffodils go well with many plants. In the photo, daffodils and other bulbs (tulips and hippeastrums) are sitting in pots. This is a great option for a small garden.

4. Contrasting combination-bright yellow miniature "Gold Medallion" daffodils and two-tone Wittrock violets.

5. In order for daffodils of the same variety to bloom at the same time and form bright spots, plant bulbs of approximately the same size.

6. Low miniature early daffodils and tulips, multi-colored crocuses, gradually growing, form a beautiful picturesque clearing.

7. Daffodils both at the very beginning of flowering and in buds look pretty, and their rich green, and sometimes bluish, depending on the variety, leaves remain attractive until mid-June.

8. If you are a beginner gardener, choose simple varieties, without frills, wintering well in our strip, resistant to weather conditions, as well as pests and pathogens.

GROWING NARCISSOS - READERS WRITE

Aroma King

Compared to other garden flowers, the appearance of the daffodil is not the most spectacular, but what a smell! Its name is translated from Greek - "to stupefy", "to stun". “Whoever has two loaves, let him sell one to buy a narcissus flower, for bread is food for the body, and narcissus is food for the soul,” Muslims said about this flower.

I love daffodils for their unpretentiousness. They grow in my flower bed, on well-fertilized soil, and in the sod of the lawn. Unlike tulips, daffodils are more shade tolerant. And yet, in a lighter place, the flowers are much larger and the bushes are fatter. Any soil is suitable, but not acidic and with good drainage. Although I have a lawn area with slightly acidic soil, even there the daffodil grows well.

Important! Never feed daffodils with fresh manure! It attracts the most dangerous pest of this crop - the narcissus fly!

In the literature they write that in one place daffodils grow from 3 to 5 years. But in practice it is much longer, especially if the bushes are regularly fed. When I see that the bushes have grown, they are crowded and there are fewer flowers, then I divide the bushes. I foresee an objection: how in nature do daffodils grow on their own and no one seats them? But we want to get a very lush flowering, and we plant varietal daffodils, not natural ones, and they require special attention and enhanced care for their beauty. In addition, when the bulbs grow, they begin to crowd each other, and various diseases arise from the crowding of plantings.

I propagate daffodils with daughter bulbs. In one year, an adult plant lays about one to three children. According to observations, the largest number of children lay tubular daffodils.

I plant and replant daffodils in late summer - early autumn, but given that in recent years the above-zero temperature has been maintained until December, the planting dates are being postponed. In any case, you need to plant daffodils in such a way that they have time to take root before frost. Rooting time is approximately one month. At a later planting, I cover them with peat or dry foliage.

I prepare the soil in advance, I dig a shovel on a bayonet.

I fill the resulting trough with fertile soil and add full mineral fertilizer(1 tsp for 1 onion) and wood ash(1 cup for 3 onions).

I determine the planting depth in the old way. It is equal to three diameters of the bulb, the distance between them is about 10 cm. If the earth is loose, then I plant it deeper, if it is heavy, it is smaller.

In early spring, I always feed daffodils with nitrogen fertilizer - nitroammophos (30 g per 1 sq. M), especially if the bushes are old and grow in one place for a long time.

The main thing is not to overdo it, excess nitrogen causes the development of diseases, and too tall, narrow and weak leaves grow. I spend the second feeding of daffodils with nitrogen and potassium in the peduncle exit phase, the third with nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium during full budding and the fourth with phosphorus and potassium during flowering.

When the daffodils fade and the leaves fall down, they are removed, and the soil around the bushes is sprinkled with ashes. So that faded daffodils are not visible, plant hostas, geraniums, and phloxes nearby.

Place of daffodils in the flower garden

I do not use many varieties of different flowering periods in one flower garden, I have from one to three unpretentious varieties, but they all bloom at the same time.

Beautiful daffodils in tree trunks.

In early spring, they will decorate the border.

Daffodils and tulips - partners in the flower garden

Pale blue muscari and white daffodils look spectacular.

When placing daffodils in a vase along with other flowers, such as tulips, be aware that the cut stems release juice from which other flowers can quickly wither. Therefore, let the daffodils first stand alone for several hours. After that, change the water and add other flowers to them.

Checked in the flower garden

Now the daffodil has nothing to be ashamed of its appearance, breeders have thoroughly worked on it, today more than 60 species are known, about 28 thousand varieties have been created! The languid eye of the daffodil became tubular, fringed, orange. But outwardly modest poetic daffodils remained the most fragrant. Yes, yes, the same ones from the grandmother's garden.

  • The original form of tacet daffodils is the daffodil tacet, or calyx. Hybrids of this daffodil have inherited the low hardiness of the parent, that is, they bloom well only in regions with a mild climate. They are known as forcing plants (many varieties in colder regions are grown indoors only) and cut plants. The poetic daffodils also belong to the group of dance daffodils. A hybrid of the poetic narcissus and narcissus tacetta combine the cold resistance of the former and the dense aroma and ability to produce a whole bouquet of flowers on one peduncle of the latter.

Tacety daffodils are grown in groups on warm, sunny places. It should be remembered that in regions with cold winters it is better to turn to the cultivation of more cold-resistant hybrids of this group - narcissus poetats. Spring-flowering daffodils will become a real decoration of the solar rock garden. If you plant daffodils on the terrace or along the paths leading to the house, you will be able to enjoy their magical aroma. Some varieties are used for Christmas forcing.

Tatset daffodils are ideal partners for all spring flowering species. In the garden, they look good next to spring-flowering shrubs, herbaceous perennials and bulbous plants, for example, tulips, Siberian blueberry and Armenian muscari. In various bowls, tatset daffodils can be combined with other scented species. Create a colorful arrangement with daffodils, oriental hyacinth and muscari.

What do you need to plant daffodils for forcing? - for distillation, you should take a suitable dish, pour a layer of gravel 2 cm high on the bottom. half fill the dishes with earth. We place the bulbs on the surface of the earth next to each other with the tops up. Sprinkle the substrate on top. We water the bulbs well and put them in a dark and cool place, for example, in a basement or in a cold pantry. At the end of January, when the dormant period ends, we put the vessel or our bowl in a bright place with a temperature of 10-12 degrees and water it. When the bulbs germinate, we transfer the vessel to a room with a temperature of 15-18 degrees. In warm weather, daffodils will sprout soon. Adult daffodils can be propagated by daughter bulbs. Dig up the plants, separate the babies and plant them.

Should buy large bulbs dance daffodils. Such specimens immediately give about eight flowers on one peduncle, and I would not advise buying into soft or damaged bulbs of tacet daffodils. Always check the bulbs in the package before purchasing. The location should be in full sun or partial shade. Daffodils grow and bloom best in a wind-sheltered, warm spot against a wall or fence. Soil rich in nutrients and humus will be the most optimal for daffodils if you decide to plant them in the garden. If the bulbs grow in a damp area, then they are affected by rot.

Various viruses lead to the appearance of spots and stripes on the leaves. There are no methods to combat viruses, so affected daffodils are removed and destroyed. Virus diseases are carried by aphids. If aphids have settled on daffodils, then we begin to fight insects.

The plan for working in a garden with daffodils is very simple. In August/September we plant daffodil bulbs in improved soil. We cover the landing sites with brushwood. For distillation in early October, we plant the bulbs in pots and bowls. In winter, daffodil bulbs growing in pots are kept in a bright, cool room, watered. Such plants will bloom in 2-4 weeks. Remove faded flowers in spring. We leave the leaves until they die completely, but after the leaves die, we dig and divide the bulbs. We plant daughter bulbs.

Tacetny daffodils carry several medium-sized, but beautiful flowers on the peduncle at once. Such elegant charms. Good luck to you.
