Watching your favorite TV shows on a tablet or peeking into a recipe book while cooking will become easier if you make a special stand for this from ... an ordinary cutting board. Making this DIY kitchen craft will take no more than two hours, and it will be used every day.

To make a holder for a recipe book or tablet you will need:

  • You can either use an old cutting board or buy a new one (wooden is best, but bamboo works too). Its size should not be much larger or smaller than the tablet.
  • A small wooden plank, or better a molding fragment (it will hold the tablet / book).

  • Another block of wood or plywood from which you can cut a sharp triangle;
  • Paint or stain in the desired color, for example, to match countertops, fronts or kitchen apron ;
  • Brush for painting or rags for staining;
  • Jigsaw or saw;
  • Wood glue or any other strong adhesive.

Instruction:

  1. Using a saw or jigsaw, shorten your plank or molding to the desired size (according to the width of the board), sand the edges sandpaper, then just stick on the bottom of the board.

  1. Cut out a piece of wood to support the stand in the shape of an acute triangle with a right angle as in the photo below and glue it too.

The angle of inclination of the holder will depend on the inclination of the hypotenuse of the triangular bar

  1. Paint the entire piece following the paint manufacturer's instructions and leave to dry.

  1. If desired, the handle of the resulting stand can be decorated with a jute rope or ribbon. Thus, when the stand is not needed, you can hang it on a hook.

Tip: To facilitate this process and not damage the paint layer, place a small bar on the table with a clamp, then wrap the bar with felt and only then put a jar on the bar (see the picture in the next photo collage in the lower left corner)

  1. Attach the jars to the plank and align them as they will be mounted later. Mark the holes on the board with a pencil.
  2. Punch small holes in the board at the marks using a hammer and nail.

  1. Screw a self-tapping screw into the hole in the first can to attach it to the plank. Repeat the procedure with all remaining banks.

Halloween Kitchen Decor Idea

To make crafts you will need:

  • Styrofoam, plastic or floral foam base in the form of a ball or other desired shape;
  • Trunk (a smooth branch of a tree, a pencil or any other small stick);
  • Decorative elements for creating a crown: coffee beans, artificial flowers, cones, colored beans, etc.;
  • Decor to mask the pot filler, such as moss, pebbles or sisal fiber;
  • Flower pot;
  • Filler for the pot, which will fix the trunk. For example, cement mortar is suitable, all the same polystyrene or alabaster (the best option);
  • Hot glue gun;
  • If necessary, you will need paint to decorate the trunk, base or pot. Also, the trunk can be decorated with ribbon or twine.

Basic instruction:

  1. To begin with, it is desirable to paint the base in the color of the crown elements so that possible bald spots are not noticeable. You can also paint the trunk and pot and leave them to dry.
  2. Cut a hole at the base of the crown for the trunk a couple of centimeters deep, fill it with glue and fix the trunk.
  3. Take the base of the crown and start gluing the decorative details one by one. The principle of operation at this stage is simple: first, large parts are glued, then medium ones, and finally, small elements fill in the bald spots. You need to glue the decor quickly, until the glue is absorbed into the base.
  4. Dilute the stem fixing mixture in the pot according to the manufacturer's instructions and fill the pot with it, not reaching a couple of centimeters from the edge. Next, insert the barrel, hold it for a while and then leave it to dry for a day.
  5. Mask the filling of the pot with a decorative "cover" (you can fix it a little with glue).

Idea 5. Serving board-tray

But the idea of an unusual serving board-tray, which, although not a cutting board (intended for laying out products only in dishes), can nevertheless be very functional. For example, it can be used for beautiful presentation to the table of snacks for drinks (olives, pistachios, nuts, chips, etc.), sauces, honey, sour cream, jam. Thanks to the slate part, while the board is not used for its intended purpose, it can simply be hung on the wall and used for writing.

To make this DIY kitchen craft, you will need:

  • Wooden board 5 cm thick;
  • Stain of the desired color (for example, to match the countertop);
  • Sponge, rag or brush;
  • Slate paint;
  • Two furniture handles and wood screws for their fastening;
  • Jigsaw or saw;
  • Screwdriver or screwdriver;
  • Ruler, pencil.

Instruction:

  1. Cut your board to the desired size with a hand/electric saw or jigsaw. AT this master class the board is 60 cm long, but you can make it shorter or longer.
  2. Paint your board with stain according to the manufacturer's instructions and let dry.

  1. It's time to paint the inside. To do this, first glue masking tape around the edges of the board to limit the painting area. Next, apply slate paint (in this case, paint in a can) and let it dry.

  1. Screw the handles around the edges of the board.

You can replace furniture handles with leather straps, paint the board in bright color, burn a picture on it or attach two “legs” to its reverse side.

Idea 6. Stand for mugs and glasses

If you're the type of person who collects wine corks (whether for fun or in the hope of making something useful out of them someday), then you'll love this craft idea.

To make one coaster you will need:

  • A roll of cork board, mat, or plate coaster (for cutting out the base of the coasters);
  • Hot glue;
  • Leg-split.

Step 1. Arrange your corks in pairs in a square format, as shown in the photo below. Using hot glue, apply a bead of glue between two corks and press them together for 30 seconds. Repeat the process for all other pairs.

Step 2. From a sheet cork (board, rug), cut a square corresponding to the size of the future stand. Next, apply hot glue on it, wait 15-20 seconds. and glue your blanks.

Step 3. Fill the gaps between the plugs with glue and let it dry. For better adhesion of the glue to the corks, you can put some kind of press on the workpiece.

Step 4. Wrap the craft with twine and tie a knot.

Do-it-yourself coasters for mugs, glasses and glasses can be beautifully packaged and presented to a friend

If desired, the coasters can be made round, triangular or hexagonal, cutting off the excess with a knife.

According to the described principle, you can make such a hot stand with your own hands. By the way, in this case, an old CD will do as a basis.

Another craft idea for the home and kitchen, which you can do with your own hands from wine corks- wall panel for decorating the interior and storing notes, memorable photos and postcards.

Panel of corks in a frame from Ikea

To work, you only need beautiful frame(from a picture or a mirror), paint of the desired color, hot glue and a large pile of corks. Corks can be laid out in a herringbone pattern, checkerboard pattern, even rows, and in other ways that you like. If necessary, for example, if there are not enough traffic jams, they can be cut lengthwise or across. And to make the corks easier to cut, they need to be soaked in hot water for 10 minutes.

Other interesting ideas making wall panels with your own hands.

Idea 8. Universal knife holder

Knife stand - very useful device for the kitchen, which helps to contain working space in order and keep the sharpness of the knife blades longer.

Making a knife holder with your own hands is very easy - just pick up a small vase and fill it tightly with bamboo / wooden skewers, colored beans or ... colored spaghetti, as in our master class.

To make a knife stand, prepare:

  • A container or vase is the height of the blade of your largest knife. The shape of the container can be any, but without any bends;
  • Spaghetti, lots and lots of spaghetti;
  • Several ziplock bags big size(or just large packages that can be tightly tied into a knot);
  • Alcohol (for example, vodka);
  • Liquid food coloring in your desired color (or multiple colors if you want to make a multi-color filling)
  • baking sheets;
  • Aluminum foil or an old oilcloth tablecloth;
  • Paper towels;
  • Kitchen scissors.

Instruction:

  1. Make sure your container is clean and dry, then fill it tightly with spaghetti. When the container is full, take out the spaghetti and add a couple more bunches of pasta to this pile as a spare (in case of replenishing broken sticks).
  2. Divide the spaghetti evenly among the bags and pour enough alcohol into them so that it can wet all the sticks. Next, add 10-40 drops of food coloring to each bag.

  1. Seal or tie your bags, then put them in additional bags to avoid leaks. Slowly shake and turn the bags to mix the dye into the alcohol and pasta. Next, lay the bag on one side and leave for 30 minutes, then turn the bag over again and leave it for another half hour. Continue soaking the spaghetti in this way (no more than 3 hours) until it reaches the desired color.
  2. Cover your baking sheet with aluminum foil, then a layer of paper towels (or oilcloth). It is advisable to wear gloves to protect your hands from staining. Remove the spaghetti from the bags, after draining all the liquid, lay them out on a baking sheet in a single layer and leave to dry. From time to time, spaghetti needs to be sorted out for them to dry evenly.

  1. Once your spaghetti is COMPLETELY dry, start putting them in the container.
  2. Shake the filled container and flatten the spaghetti. Insert your knives to determine the optimal filling density, add pasta or remove excess if necessary.
  3. Now, using kitchen scissors or other very sharp scissors, cut the spaghetti to desired length without taking them out of the container (best to do this over the sink). It is important that spaghetti does not exceed the height of the container by more than 2-3 cm, otherwise they will break quickly.

Idea 9. Jars for storing spices and bulk products

Today we will talk about the express technique for making a paper basket, which can be used to store small items (keys, stationery), yarn, as well as for unusual serving of fruits, Easter eggs, bread or pastries to festive table or as a gift.

Even a child can weave such baskets quickly and easily.

You will need:

  • About 15 sheets of A3 thin paper, cut in half along the sheets (this can be printer paper, a sheet of newspaper in full spread, and even baking paper);
  • Capacity right size with straight walls (for example, a jam jar);
  • Glue in a stick;
  • One skewer;
  • Spray paint (optional).

Instruction:

  1. Starting at one corner, begin to fold a piece of paper tightly around the skewer until diagonally opposite corner to get a smooth and long tube. When the straw is ready, add a few dabs of glue to the corner of the paper to fix it in place and pull out the skewer. Do the same for all remaining sheets. In this master class, it took 30 tubes to weave 2 baskets.
  2. If necessary (for example, if you used newspaper sheets) or if desired, paint the tubes with acrylic paint.
  3. Take even number tubes and connect them together as shown in the photo in the upper left corner. In this master class, it took 6 tubes for a basket the size of a jam jar, and 8 tubes for a larger basket.

  1. Start braiding: take one of the outer tubes (which is under the grate) and pass it over the next tube, then pass it under the next tube, then pass the tube over the next tube again, and so on. Continue weaving by lifting the already wrapped tubes vertically (now we will call these tubes racks).
  2. When 2-3 cm remain from the first working tube, increase its length. To do this, apply glue to a new tube and insert it into the remaining "tail". Continue weaving again and again, adding paper tubes as needed.
  3. As soon as you weave the base of the desired diameter (the same size as the container), place the container on it and start weaving around it, pulling the rack tubes close to the walls.
  4. Having finished weaving the basket to the end, take out the jar and carefully wrap the end of the working tube in weaving.
  5. Wrap the ends of the uprights inside the weave and trim if necessary. Next, you can spray paint from a spray can, as in our master class.

Idea 11. Wall holder for towels and kitchen utensils

From an ordinary grater, you can make such a convenient and beautiful holder for towels and storing kitchen utensils or even live or artificial plants.

From a flat grater, you can make a decor for the kitchen in country style, Provence or Shabby Chic with your own hands

  • Patina for metal (for artificial aging of the grater);
  • small cutting board or just a wooden board;
  • Wooden plate (for the bottom of the grater);
  • Glue.

Instruction:

  1. Follow the manufacturer's instructions to coat the grater with a metal patina, for example, in green, as in this master class.

  1. Install a wooden bottom in the inside. It must first be cut to the size of the top of the grater. As a rule, at the top of the grater there are protrusions from metal handles, it is on them that the bottom will be attached.
  2. Screw the grater to the board with self-tapping screws, having previously made holes in it with a nail and a hammer.
  3. Mount the board on the wall near the sink, hang a towel on the handle, put your spatulas, ladles or flowers inside.

These handmade things will be very useful in everyday life. To create a hot stand, we need:

  • 20 identical denim strips (15-20 cm each) cut from the leg;
  • lace;
  • threads;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine.

All denim strips are laid in a braided pattern. Each horizontal row is stitched (10 times in total). The resulting square is cut off at the edges to make them more even. In order for the craft to look neat, braid or lace is sewn around the perimeter. Unusual stand is ready!

These items, made by hand from old things, look very beautiful and unusual.

In the shop for craftswomen

You can make interesting things with your own hands using special material that is sold in any needlework store. It can be yarn, base for embroidery with a pattern, special paper, etc. This material is intended for classes certain types needlework: macrame, patchwork, decoupage, quilling, etc. Knowing the basics of work in this area, you can perform unusual crafts. A master class of this kind of classes is presented below.

We collect on a patch

Recently, patchwork has become an interesting and very popular type of needlework (translated from English means “work with a patchwork”). From scraps of fabric, skilled needlewomen create real masterpieces of art: blankets, rugs, carpets and even curtains. In order for the work to turn out to be of really high quality, it is necessary to select fabrics that are similar in texture. It is also desirable that the patchwork pattern is in harmony with each other. It is necessary to cut out pieces of fabric, taking into account allowances - from 0.5 to 1 cm. The cutting of the material is carried out along the longitudinal thread. Wash and iron the fabric first to prevent shrinkage. The material can only be drawn with soap, pencil or chalk, but not with a pen - there is a risk of traces on the front of the product.

Blanket "Spring mood"

For manufacturing, you need to prepare:

  • green, pink, yellow, orange and blue fabric;
  • soap, chalk or pencil, ruler;
  • template - square 6 x 6 cm, rectangles 24 x 6 and 12 x 6 cm;
  • scissors;
  • sewing machine;
  • a piece of fabric 111 x 83 cm (for the wrong side of the product);
  • sintepon.

Prepare the fabric: wash, dry and iron. Lay out the prepared cardboard templates on the material. Cut out 12 squares of pink, blue, green and yellow, leaving a 1 cm allowance. In addition, you will need 60 squares of the same size but in different colors. With them you will sheathe a blanket around the perimeter. Prepare 24 strips 24 cm long and 6 cm wide of different fabric and 24 strips of 12 cm of the same width.

We begin to sew: take 4 squares of 6 cm in different colors and sew them together. Then sew 4 strips of the same color along the perimeter of the resulting product: 2 short strips on the sides, 2 long strips on top and bottom. In the same way, collect all the other squares. Sew the resulting products together. You should get 4 large squares in length and 3 in width.

The next step is to sew squares (set aside 60 pieces) around the perimeter of the blanket. The order of their arrangement by color is completely up to your imagination. It is now necessary to sew a fabric measuring 83 x 111 cm to the blanket (3 cm per allowance). Connect the 2 sides to each other with the right side inward. After you have sewn 3 sides, turn the product inside out and stuff with padding polyester. Then carefully join the 4th edge (by machine or by hand). Soft and beautiful blanket is ready!

In exactly the same way you can also throw blankets. Creative things (with your own hands), the photos of which are presented in this article, bring warmth and comfort! Try doing them yourself.

Crafts ... from food

You can even make things for the home with your own hands from food: various cereals, pasta, dough and even sweets. With a little imagination, you can make paintings, pendants and even watches! Buckwheat or rice must be glued to PVA glue on a pre-prepared template. Groats can be painted - and the picture will sparkle with all colors. Involve your child in the work - this will help him develop fine motor skills of hands and imaginative thinking. In order to create, you can use coffee beans. Also from this material you can make other interesting things with your own hands, for example, a chic bonsai tree that will delight your original view you and those around you.

Part of the East

To create a bonsai tree you will need:

  • balloon;
  • PVA glue;
  • brown threads (slightly thicker than nylon);
  • thick branch;
  • flower pot;
  • pebble.

The balloon must be tightly wrapped with a thread dipped in glue, set aside. The workpiece should dry for at least 4-5 hours. Next, the balloon must be pierced and carefully removed. On the remaining base, planted on a harvested branch, you need to glue coffee beans. The branch should be strengthened in flower pot using a pebble. A beautiful tree is ready!

Now you know that making things for the house with your own hands is interesting and useful!

DIY home craft ideas

So, what can you do with your own hands for the home? Let's take a look at some ideas for inspiration. Among the proposed options, you will definitely find something interesting for yourself and try to make your favorite thing with your own hands.

Housekeeper

One of the useful things for the home, while performing a decorative function that you can make with your own hands, is the key holder.

The peculiarity of this housekeeper is that its design imitates brickwork. The basis for the key holder is thick cardboard (you can use part of a box). You will also need a dense toilet paper or thick paper towels. Dense material is needed so that it does not spread when lubricated with glue. Stock up on acrylic paints, varnish and glue (regular PVA will do).

Make the back wall of the key holder out of rectangular cardboard or plywood sheet. Hooks will be attached to the base. Cut out small rectangular bricks from cardboard, the size should be the same and glue them to the base, leaving a small distance between the parts. Not the entire surface of the cardboard is pasted over with bricks.

In the central part, you need to stick a plate decorated with an inscription, and place a beautiful picture in the upper part.

After that, coat the bricks well with glue, and put a napkin (previously crumpled) on top, a little more glue for impregnation. Using a stick, press a napkin or paper into the gaps between the miniature bricks to make corners. Give the piece time to dry.

Paint over the dried panel with paint (to simulate natural brick, you need to choose a red-brown shade). Use bronze paint to paint the seams.

After the paint dries, coat the bricks in the same tone using a dry brush (dip the brush in the bronze-colored paint, and then wipe it on paper until it is almost dry, and only then brush the brickwork).

On a note! When painting bricks with a brush, you need to drive without changing direction.

To make the key holder smooth, cover it with a transparent matte varnish.

The work is completed by attaching loops, after which it can be hung on the wall or presented to someone. In the photo below - the finished key holder:

Hanger for jewelry

All the fair sex love jewelry; almost every woman has jewelry that needs to be stored somewhere. The original storage for jewelry will be a hanger made like a picture.

In order to make a hanger for storing jewelry, you will need:

  • baguette frame;
  • plywood;
  • stain (you can use paint as a substitute);
  • hooks and handles from boxes;
  • nails;
  • screwdriver and drill;
  • cutting tool.

Cut the plywood according to the size of the frame and coat it with stain, then dry it and attach it to the frame. Mark the places where the hooks will be attached and screw them on. It remains to hang decorations on a hanger.

Now you have a place to store women's treasures - jewelry.

Plastic canvas box for storing small items

A simple but presentable box designed to store various little things can be made from a plastic canvas.

Canvas is a material for embroidery. You will need a canvas made of plastic, you can buy it in stores that sell everything for needlework.

On a note! Canvas made of plastic is usually made in the form of sheets, A4 size. Perforations in plastic canvas vary in size. Canvases are produced with a different number of perforations, the more there are, the smaller they are.

In addition to the canvas, you need to stock up on the following materials:

  • dense threads;
  • large needle;
  • fabric or beads;
  • scissors.

Embroidery on plastic canvas is almost no different from the usual. Embroidery techniques can be different, the most popular are cross and satin stitch.

Plastic canvas is flexible yet very durable.

Decide what size your box will be. Divide the material into parts intended for the sides and for the bottom. There should be five parts in total. Make elements for the cover. Make a blank, the size of which is 0.5 cm larger in width and length from the bottom. The sides of the lid should be slightly narrower. You will need five more parts. Then sew the parts with dense threads (you can use both braid and even ribbons).

You can embroider any pattern on blanks. Drape the parts that are not embroidered with a cloth or embroider with beads.

Having issued all 10 blanks, start the assembly. At the first stage, the side parts should be sewn to the bottom. Then sew all the side elements of the box from the outside and sheathe the top along the edges. The last step is to assemble the lid in the same way.

We assemble the lid of the box in the same way.

A beautiful plastic canvas box is ready.

Wicker rugs in tapestry technique

One of the options that allow you to give the interior coziness is tapestry rugs. To weave such things, you do not need special tools. A tapestry rug can be made from improvised materials: thick threads that are used for knitting (they can be replaced with ropes made from old clothes) and cords.

The tapestry is a lint-free carpet made by hand. The base of tapestry rugs is decorated with ornaments created by interlacing threads. We will create plot composition in the form of a circle with drawn lines, a thread will run along them, which will serve as the basis.

All work is done with weft threads. Under the complex name, ordinary ropes and braid are hidden, from which weaving and decorative patterns are created.

  • choose a strong thread to create the base;
  • thread-duck broach should be done by hand;
  • to make the tapestry more dense, you can press the threads to the center, for this they use a simple fork.

Stage one. We draw cardboard with a size of 500 x 500 mm. We carry out the firmware of the cardboard with the thread chosen for the base. To do this, cut the markings drawn on the cardboard and thread the rope through the lines so that it runs through the central part.

Stage two. Let's start weaving the tapestry. It is necessary to carefully fix the initial thread. Weaving in the technique of tapestry consists in pulling the cord underlying the alternation of one thread from above and the second from below.

Stage three. Having weaved the last turn of the thread in a circle of cardboard, you need to turn the resulting rug on the reverse side and cut off the base cords. When trimming, leave about 5 cm at the ends. Pull the ends of the laces out of the notches made on the cardboard (the picture does not need to be removed during pulling out) and tie them in pairs. Attach pompoms to the resulting knots.

Finish the composition by sewing a thick rope on the wrong side in a circle - this will hide the knots and ends of the threads.

Advice. Using different textures and shades of threads, you can make different rugs and then combine them into one. You will get a large carpet that can be hung on the wall or laid on the floor.

A tapestry rug laid on the floor will make it warmer, and besides, it looks beautiful. Weaving a tapestry rug with your own hands is not difficult: try it and see for yourself.

Ribbon curtain

You can make an unusual curtain from ribbons. The tape blind is suitable for both windows and doors. It will take a little time to make a curtain from ribbons, even a sewing machine is not needed. Fluttering tape curtain repels insects well; earlier such curtains were made from newspapers cut into strips.

Flower pots from paper bags

Many people have paper bags at home, instead of throwing them away, make flower pots out of them.

Materials for making flower pots:

  • paper bags;
  • wooden skewer;
  • scissors;
  • rope;
  • glue;
  • plastic container.

Take paper bags and make a markup on them: eight strips measuring 70x300 mm, then cut the paper along the dotted lines.

Place a wooden skewer in the corner of one of the strips and wind it around paper base diagonally. You must make a paper tube from each strip. Seal the corners of the paper tubes so they don't unwind. The easiest way to do this is with a glue gun.

Take a plastic container, apply glue to it and wrap it with paper (from all the same bags) so that the plastic is not visible. Glue paper tubes to the bottom of the container. Cut paper strips 70x450 mm (you will need large bags) and make straws.

Wrap the tubes so that they are pressed tightly against the walls of the container. Attach a long tube of paper with glue to the bottom of the container, and wrap it around it, you need to braid the main tubes. Wrap all the main tubes, and then change the direction of weaving to braid the missed tubes - this is how you need to wrap the entire container.

Make two holes in the sides of the pot (above).

Pull the rope through the holes made, at each end of the twine you need to tie a knot in order to fix it well. Another woven tube will help to hide the ends of the twine. Wrap the tubes protruding above the pot inside the container and secure with glue.

Unusual flower pots are ready.
