The assembly principle is quite simple. A bar is attached to the top of the board, which will later act as a limiter for the wheels. On the reverse side, two beams are attached: one closer to the limiter, the second - to the other edge. Each piece needs two pieces.

Such a system works as follows. A board with a limiter rests under the wheels of the car with a free edge. The part itself rests on the beam, which is fixed on the other side. When the car drives in, the wheels will shift the center of gravity and the edge with the limiter will fall on the second beam.

Thanks to the use of bars with the same section, the board will take a horizontal position. It remains only to fix the wheels remaining on the ground with blocks so that the car does not roll off.

How to make a flyover out of metal

Metal structures for the garage are even more popular than flyovers made of wood. This is due to their versatility, because such structures are convenient to use in garages of any size.

  • rolled metal;
  • hardware;

It is better to make the design collapsible, this will save space in the room. The principle of manufacturing a mini-overpass made of metal is simple. First you need to make four racks for the base, approximately 50 centimeters high.

For stability, the legs are welded in the form of a trapezoid - they need to be connected with beams of equal-shelf corner size 63x5 centimeters. Bridges for check-in are made in the form of a ladder. For this, corners measuring 40x4 centimeters and fittings with a diameter of 12 millimeters are used.

For manufacturing, you need to calculate the length of a board or a metal bridge for hitting wheels so that in a horizontal position this part does not damage the bottom of the machine. The manufacture of wooden ladders comes down to sawing 4 pieces of timber for the base and a board for the bridge. The width of the bridge should be sufficient for free collision of wheels (at least 30-35 cm). Nail the pieces of timber to the boards in the position indicated in the figure: in the middle of the ladder and at its edge.

When making a metal bridge, you need to cut off a corner with a length equal to the calculated length of the bridge (4 pcs.). Connect these parts in pairs with short segments of the same corner or reinforcing bar 15-17 mm in diameter. The resulting "ladders" are able to withstand the weight of a passenger car. From the underside of the bridges, weld the base from the corner in the form of a U-shaped structure. The height of the base is selected individually. The base legs must be positioned in the same way as in wooden structure. When hitting the ladder to the first support of the base under the weight of the car, the car overpass comes to a horizontal position, while its rear part rests on the second leg of the base.

There is another version of the mini-flyover. These are 2 small self-made welded structures made of a 4x4 corner 5 mm thick in the form of a fixed bridge with inclined entrances for lifting one pair of wheels. The length, height and width of each part can be calculated individually, depending on the brand of the car. During manufacture, it is required to weld 4 rectangular frames from a corner, connecting them in pairs with crossbars at the bottom. On the upper part, weld segments of a bar or angle along the width of the bridge.

Inclined entrances are welded in the form of "ladders" supported on the front part of the horizontal bridge. The relatively light metal structure can be stored in the garage without taking up much space. If necessary, it can be quickly installed at any suitable site for machine inspection.

Complete overpass

Such a portable design implies that the car will be in a horizontal position at a certain height above the ground. This provides greater comfort during preventive and repair work the owner of the car.

The distance from the surface of the site to the bottom can reach 1 m or more. As an example of how to make a flyover, you can use the drawings from fig. 3 or design your own. You will need:

  • steel corner 5x5 cm 10 mm thick;
  • reinforcing bar with a diameter of 17 mm;
  • Bulgarian;
  • welding machine, electrodes;
  • roulette.

Cut the corner for the supporting structures according to the dimensions indicated in the diagram. Sections for outside each support must be 10 cm longer than those that will be under the bottom of the machine when the collapsible mini flyover is installed in the working position. This will provide support for the bridges and wheels of the car, preventing them from moving to the side. 2 supports must also be equipped with transverse stops for wheels at the point farthest from the entrance to the flyover.

Weld 2 trapezoidal structures for each support: with and without the ends of the corner protruding above its upper edge. Connect the trapezoids with crossbars about 60 cm long, welding them in the corners of the structures. Having assembled 4 supports, make transverse stops on those that will be installed at the far ends of the flyover.

The length of the bridges and entry inclined parts is determined from personal needs, depending on the size of the car. Their width should be sufficient for convenient passage of the machine on inclined and horizontal surfaces. You need to weld the bridges in the form of "ladders", connecting the segments of the corner with crossbars desired length from a rod.

To ensure the reliability of the prefabricated structure, it is necessary to provide holes for mounting on bolts and nuts at the intersections of the bridges with upper parts supports and at the points of attachment of inclined entrances to them. To bring the flyover to working condition it is enough to install 4 supports, lay horizontal bridges and install inclined ladders to lift the car. After the completion of the inspection and repair, the home-made mini-flyover is just as easily disassembled into its component parts and can be stored without taking up much space in or near the garage.

With a little skill in working with a welding machine and metal, a do-it-yourself overpass can be made in about a week. Convenient and space-saving design will serve for decades. Overpass device

Many of us have seen stationary overpasses - they can be located on the sides of some sections of the road so that a driver experiencing technical problems can put in order or temporarily eliminate a car malfunction. It is easy to make such a design at home. The main requirement will be the availability of sufficient space. If your garage is designed for two vehicles, then in place of one of them you can build a platform. From the materials you can use brick, floor slabs, wooden beams, metal channel and pipes. The most durable and durable will be a metal construction.

You will need pipes with a total length of up to 2 m. Approximately 1 m they will have to be sunk into the ground and securely concreted. Four corners measuring 7.5 by 7.5 cm are fixed on top, the space between them is filled with reinforcement rods, which are welded perpendicularly. In the same way, a check-in is set at an angle. Other types of flyovers

But not all of us have two cars or large garages where you can play football or have a party, so you should pay attention to mini flyovers that can be collapsible or move freely around the territory, and stored in a garage or shed. It takes some ingenuity to make them. Here are a few options for you to choose from:

  • rectangular trapezoid;
  • "rocking chair";
  • flip;
  • based on sleepers.
  • One-sided pyramid. To make this kind of platform, you will need a minimum of effort, time and money. It is necessary to have on hand approximately 17 m of a board 5 cm high, 30 cm wide, less if you are driving on a narrow gauge railway, but it is better not to risk it. Next, we cut out two beams of the same length with the following dimensions: 45 cm, 70 cm, 95 cm, 120 cm, 145 cm, 170 cm and 195 cm. After all the parts are ready, you can start assembling - just connect them together so that from one end they create a plane, and from the other they look like a ladder. You can use nails or self-tapping screws - whatever is at hand or more convenient for you. During the assembly process, two pyramids should have been cut off on one side. But such a flyover is not yet adapted for a car to drive onto it. The two blocks may suddenly separate and damage the underbody or the vehicle may tip over. To avoid this, we proceed as follows. On the inner sides we mount two by two metal corners with holes. Next, choose two slats, metal or wood. We make holes along the edges and fasten them to the corners. After such an operation, the coasters will not go to the side. When the car is already on top, carefully unscrew the safety crossbars and carry out the necessary repairs.

A similar truncated pyramid or trapezoid can be made from a metal channel, it will turn out to be much more reliable and durable. Instead of climbing the “ladder”, you will simply need to make an inclined check-in.

Note! With the help of such a device, the car can be raised by 30 cm, if you need a greater height - add a few more strips of greater length. Don't forget to install front stops to prevent the vehicle from rolling forward, and also secure the rear wheels.

The rocking chair is also a very simple design that any car owner can make. Two boards are selected with a thickness as in the previous example, the length can be 1 m. We take four bars 10 × 10 × 30 cm and arrange them as follows: one of them is on one of the edges, the second is almost in the middle with an offset to the first. We firmly fix and do not forget to emphasize. Now, when the car will run into wheels, the boards will be thrown over due to the shift in the center of gravity, with further advancement, they will receive an emphasis on two bars. Everything! The car is up! You can make repairs. You can vary the dimensions, focusing on the clearance of a particular vehicle and the length of the wheelbase.

There is another version of this overpass, it is a little more difficult to implement, but much more reliable. The designs may be different. Here is one of them. A corner of 30 × 30 is taken, as much as possible, adjust the length, focusing on your car. We need 8 such segments. We connect them in parallel with the help of reinforcement bars. The result should be 4 bases of the same size. The lower parts can be made longer and wider for more stability. Next, we make two stops. One of them will be in the form of a bar, as in the previous example, we weld it to the edge. The second set with a slight offset from the middle. But it should be made a little differently - in the form of an isosceles triangle. We movably connect it to the lower base. If you do not touch the stands, they will be in the folded state at an angle. When the car moves along them, the wheel shifts the center, aligning the horizontal, and rests on the bar. Now with hecks you can fix the platforms in this position.

Using a scaffold is an interesting approach to business. To make it, you need to acquire a corner that we already love, or use square profile. Further, using a welding machine, 2 isosceles triangles are made so that the base is 1.5 times longer than the wheelbase, and the vertex angle is obtuse. A platform is laid on them. Now everything is ready. The car drives onto the structure and, resting against the limiters, reaches the end.

Note! Place stands under the rear wheels so that the car does not roll when it is on the overpass.

A flyover based on sleepers is made very simply. Two sleepers are laid, one continuing the other. Strong boards are laid on the part with a notch, after which it turns out small slide. Everything - the platform is ready, you can call in and be repaired. The disadvantage is that the sleepers need to be stored somewhere, although it is unlikely that someone will decide to take them away from you. For this kind of platform, it is not necessary to use sleepers, everything that you can reliably rest the boards on will do.

Note! When constructing a makeshift overpass, do not forget to protect your car by installing limiters - they will not allow the car to fall off the overpass.

It is not difficult to make such a structure with your own hands. You just need to decide on the design and assemble everything necessary materials. It should be noted that for the construction of the structure, you can use everything that is on your farm. For example, an overpass for car repair can be made of metal stairs (aerial version), bricks, or simply dug in the form of a hole (underground version).

What tools might be needed?

To construct such a structure is quite simple. You must first draw a diagram on paper, calculate its dimensions, and also select the necessary tool:

  1. Welding (if a metal version is built).
  2. Bulgarian (for cutting materials).
  3. Shovel (if you want to make a hole or fix above-ground racks).
  4. Brick and sleepers.
  5. Cement (so that the product does not “ride”, it should be fixed with a concrete solution).

How to make the simplest version of the design?

It is a structure on which the car can only drive the rear or only the front wheels. Such a flyover for a car consists of the same structures that can be made of metal or wood. Please note that the width of such products should not be less than 40 cm. Otherwise, they may be unstable or too narrow.

You can weld this design from the corners. In this case, the cross section of the elements is about 2.5 cm. In order for the car not to slip off the overpass, limiters must be fixed on the racks. Their height is at least 7 cm. After all welding work are completed, sharp corners must be removed with a grinder. In order for the product to last as long as possible, it must be coated with a special anti-corrosion compound or painted. Please note that one element of such a structure will have a fairly large weight.

How to make a structure from stairs?

Such a flyover with your own hands is also done quite quickly. It is a more advanced version than the previous one. You will need two to work. metal stairs at least 3 meters long, welding machine and corners.

First you need to process all the components with an anti-corrosion compound. Further, 4 vertical supports must be welded to the edges of the stairs, on which they will stand (like benches). Their length should be sufficient so that it can be partially dug into the ground. Naturally, in this case it is better to choose corners or pipes. In any case, these elements must be strong enough to support the weight of the vehicle.

After the main structure is assembled, it is necessary to fix it in the garage. Place the future overpass so that it is convenient for you to drive onto it. Racks in the ground must be fixed with concrete mortar. In order for the car to drive onto the structure, 4 more corners must be welded to the stairs at an angle (on both sides). Between themselves, it is better to combine them with crossbars.

Features of the arrangement of the viewing hole

The construction of a flyover of this type is the most common. However, it is possible under one condition: you have a lot of free space. Such a viewing hole should have a depth of at least 1 meter. This parameter depends on the height of the person who will be repairing or inspecting the car. To prevent the earth from crumbling inside, it is better to sheathe the walls of the structure with boards. In order to descend into the pit was convenient, you need to either dig steps or put up a ladder. Please note that steps should be equipped with anti-slip pads.

Please note that the edges of such a flyover should be slightly above ground level. The length of the pit must match the size of the machine. At the same time, after arrival, the car should not block the stairs for descent. As for the width of the ditch, it is about 1 meter. Safety flanges must be added to this distance.

Overpass arrangement
