Milgamma (shots): how to properly inject the drug, indications and contraindications. Where can I get an injection other than the buttocks? Intramuscular injections - what is it and why to do it

Intramuscular injection is one of the most popular methods of drug administration. The main thing is to know how to properly inject into the buttock if the manipulation is carried out at home.

The popularity of this procedure is due to its effectiveness and safety for health. Due to the good blood flow, the product is quickly distributed throughout the body. There is also a minimal amount of nerves in the buttock area, which makes the procedure less painful compared to other injections.

To make an intramuscular injection, you must purchase a disposable syringe. Its volume for injection for an adult is 5 ml, for a child - 3 ml. After the injection, the instrument is disposed of.

The needle is recommended to use a long and thin. It enters the muscle more easily and causes minimal pain. The long needle also delivers the drug to the deeper layers of the tissue, making the drug spread through the body faster.

It is important to know not only how to properly inject into the buttock, but also how to prepare for the procedure. Mandatory manipulation - disinfection. It is necessary to disinfect hands or medical gloves, as well as the injection site. This will prevent harmful bacteria from entering the body.

  • disposable syringe;
  • needle;
  • ampoule with medication;
  • a special nail file for opening the ampoule;
  • cotton swab soaked in an alcohol-based agent to disinfect the puncture site.

In which part of the buttock to put an injection

When self-injecting, it is important to know how to inject into the buttock. The drug is injected into a specific area. If you inject in the wrong place, you can injure a person or cause him severe pain.

For proper injection, the muscle is visually divided into four regions. To deliver an injection, use the upper outer part. This choice is not accidental. There are no vessels with particularly large dimensions. This part also contains a minimum of nerve endings. This means that during the procedure the patient will experience a minimum of discomfort.

Also from this area medicinal product will spread throughout the body at an optimal speed, therefore, after an intramuscular injection, the patient quickly feels an improvement in well-being.

The instructions for administering the drug intramuscularly are almost identical for each age category, but in each case there are some nuances that you should definitely remember.

For an adult

The algorithm for performing an injection in the buttocks of an adult is as follows.

  1. Prepare everything necessary tools. Check the name of the drug on the ampoule and the name of the drug on the prescription issued by the doctor. Read the instructions that come with the medication. Special attention it is recommended to pay attention to the speed at which the agent should be administered. It is also important to familiarize yourself with post-injection procedures, such as whether ice or a heating pad should be applied to the injection site.
  2. Hands are washed thoroughly with water detergent. After that, they and the injection site are disinfected. A cotton swab is impregnated with an alcohol-containing agent and set aside on a sterile surface. It is used later, after a puncture.
  3. The ampoule is picked up and shaken so that the main active substance spread evenly throughout the preparation. After that, the upper part is tapped with light movements for the medicine to flow down. In the place of narrowing, small notches are made with a file. After that, a cotton swab or bandage is taken into the hands, the tip of the ampoule is wrapped around and a break is made to open the drug.
  4. A needle is put on the syringe and the cap is removed from it. The ampoule is held with one hand, the medicine is taken from the package with the other hand by pulling the piston up.
  5. The syringe is rotated vertically, needle up. The piston is lightly pressed with fingers to eliminate oxygen bubbles from the syringe. If there is more medicine in the instrument than the doctor prescribed, the excess drug is drained.
  6. The needle is applied to the injection site so that the syringe is vertical. The instrument is pressed so that the needle enters the buttock completely. After that, press the piston to inject the drug.
  7. The puncture site is clamped with a cotton pad, and the needle is removed from the muscle. in a circular motion the injured area is massaged for better distribution of the medication throughout the body.
  8. A cap is put on the needle. All tools are collected and disposed of.

To kid

A child should be given an injection a little differently than an adult. The algorithm of actions is the same before the administration of the drug.

In order for the child to experience a minimum of discomfort, the entire part of the buttock, where the puncture will be, is captured with the free hand, and a fold is made from the muscle. It is compressed with force, and after that a needle is inserted. If this condition is met, then the baby will practically not feel that he was given an injection.

To myself

A lonely person is forced to inject himself. He can inject himself while standing in front of a mirror.

The rules for self-administration of the drug are as follows.

  1. Take the medicine from the ampoule into the syringe. Stand in front of a mirror and determine the injection site. Disinfect the area of the proposed puncture and relax.
  2. In one sharp motion, insert the needle into the buttock. She must enter completely. If it has entered three-quarters, you do not need to stick it further, as this will cause an acute attack of pain.
  3. Press down on the piston to medicine entered the body. Remove the needle and massage the puncture site. This will help the agent to disperse throughout the body.

Disinfection of hands and the site of the alleged puncture is a mandatory measure that will protect the body from blood poisoning. The safety rules for intramuscular injections are not limited to this.

It is important to dispose of all instruments that remain after the procedure. It is recommended to break the needle, then cover with a cap. Then all the tools are disposed of so that children and animals cannot reach them in order to avoid sad consequences.

After the introduction of the drug by intramuscular route, a bump may occur at the puncture site. It will not harm the body, but it will cause pain, especially in a sitting position.

To prevent this from happening, immediately after removing the needle, it is recommended to massage the injured area. Then the medicine will disperse throughout the body, and there will be no stagnation.

In order for the procedure to deliver a minimum of discomfort, it is recommended to adhere to the following recommendations during the injection.

  1. The gluteal muscle should be relaxed. Its tension will make it difficult to insert the needle, and because of this, severe pain will occur.
  2. The needle is inserted to its full length. Due to this, the drug penetrates deep into the tissue.
  3. The next injection is given in the other buttock. You need to alternate sides constantly. This will help prevent seals.

Conclusion

Knowing how to properly inject yourself or your loved ones into the buttock, you can perform injections on your own, but only after consulting a doctor. Self-administration of the drug can cause the most serious consequences. Video tutorials clearly demonstrate how to perform injections.

Among various methods introductions medical preparations in the human body, intramuscular injections are in second place (after tablet forms) in terms of frequency of use. This is due to the fact that the technique for performing such injections is as simple as possible compared to other injections, and the injected medicine quickly enters the bloodstream without the development of many side effects.

It is known that when taking certain tablets (for example, antibiotics or anti-inflammatory drugs based on diclofenac), there is an irritant effect on the stomach or the reproduction of beneficial intestinal microflora is inhibited, and when these drugs are administered intramuscularly, such side effects are minimized.

Where can I inject drugs for intramuscular injection?

The drug is injected intramuscularly only into large muscles - the gluteal, anterior-lateral surface of the thigh muscles and the deltoid muscle of the shoulder. More often still injected into the leg or buttock. Some vaccines are injected into the muscles of the shoulder, as well as first-aid drugs (painkillers, anti-shock) in emergency conditions, when there is no time and opportunity to administer the drug differently.

In most cases, they try to inject intramuscularly into the upper outer part of the buttock, since in this area the muscle tissue is thickest and there is the least danger of touching a major nerve or blood vessel. The gluteal muscles have a well-developed capillary network, so the medicine quickly enters the general circulation.

To select the injection site, the buttock is mentally divided into four parts, choosing the upper-outer area. Then the center of this area is approximately found (this is usually 5-7 cm below the level of the protruding parts of the ilium) - this will be the point of the intended injection.

An alternative to the gluteal region for intramuscular injections is the lateral wide muscle of the thigh. Injections in the thigh are resorted to when seals have formed on both buttocks due to a long course of treatment with intramuscular drugs, or abscesses due to improper injection of the drug into the buttocks. Also, the thigh area is preferred by many of those who inject themselves, because not all patients can turn the body to the buttock (especially when an injection is needed for sciatica or rheumatism).

The surface of the thigh in this case is more accessible for injection. To select the injection site, you need to put your hand on the anterior-lateral surface of the thigh so that the fingertips touch the knee. The area of the femoral muscle under the palm (closer to the wrist) will be the optimal site for the injection of the drug. Stab in the thigh above or below this area, as well as behind or from inside legs are strictly prohibited due to the high risk of hurting large vessels and nerves.

When giving an injection to a child or a lean adult, to be sure that the needle hit the muscle, before the injection, you need to collect the intended injection site in a large musculocutaneous fold and feel the muscle under the fingers.

How to properly perform an intramuscular injection?

  1. Must be used for intramuscular injections only disposable syringes and needles to avoid infection with blood-borne infections (HIV, hepatitis B, C, D). The syringe is unpacked immediately before the injection, the tip is not removed from the needle until the ampoule with the medicine is opened.

    The volume of the syringe is selected based on the volume of the injected drug, as well as from the injection site - when injected into the thigh, it is better to use a syringe of 2.0-5.0 ml with a thin needle, when injected into the buttocks - 5.0 ml, and for people with severe subcutaneous - fat layer - 10.0 ml. It is not recommended to inject more than 10 ml of the drug into the muscle so that difficult-to-resorb infiltrates do not form.

  2. Injection should be done with clean, washed with antibacterial soap or disinfectant-treated hands and in a suitable room. At home, the most suitable places are places where wet cleaning, or there are no sources of dust and dirt.
  3. It is recommended that the injection be given to the patient in the supine position so that the muscles of the buttocks or thighs are as relaxed as possible. If you have to inject while standing, then you need to make sure that the leg into which they will prick is not tense. To do this, it needs to be slightly bent at the knee and transfer the weight of the body to the other leg.
  4. Open the ampoule with the medicine and draw it into the syringe. Hold the finished syringe in one hand, and with the other hand treat the site of the proposed injection within a radius of 5 cm with a piece of cotton soaked in medical alcohol.

  1. Insert the needle with a quick movement perpendicular to the surface of the skin into a place treated with alcohol to a depth of 3-5 cm (for the buttock), or in a direction slightly at an angle to the skin to a depth of 2-3 cm (for the thigh). The needle should remain 1/3 of its length above the skin so that it can be removed in case of breakage. Slowly pressing on the plunger, inject the medicine.

    If an oily solution is being injected, pull the plunger slightly towards you before injecting the drug into the muscle to make sure you don't hit a blood vessel. If a sharp intolerable pain occurs, it is necessary to stop the administration of the drug and pull out the needle.

  2. After the introduction of the entire drug, with a sharp movement of the hand, you need to pull the needle out of the muscle in the opposite direction to the injection, then apply a cotton swab dipped in alcohol to the injection site. It is impossible to rub and massage the injection site immediately after the injection, because this can lead to microtrauma of the capillaries and improper absorption of the drug.
  3. Put a cap on the used needle to avoid accidental injection, remove the needle from the syringe, pull out the plunger. Throw the disassembled syringe into a special container or trash can.

The choice of the optimal form of drug administration should be dealt with not by the patient himself, but by a specialist with medical education, which in each case will decide which method of administration will be the best. In addition, when performing the first intramuscular injections at home, try to invite a healthcare professional to evaluate the correct technique and correct possible mistakes in self-made injections.

Despite the simplicity of the technique for performing intramuscular injections, you should not resort to them unreasonably often, especially if it is possible to get the same medicine in the form of tablets.

Today I faced such a dilemma: it is necessary to give injections, but it is not always convenient to go to the hospital and it is not always convenient to call a doctor. Here is the question I asked:

How to inject yourself yourself?
Intramuscular
When injecting yourself, it is important to choose a comfortable position for the injection.
There is an opinion that injections can be carried out in any muscle - on the arm or on the leg. However, we advise you to inject it into the gluteal muscle - this is less likely negative consequences(in hand muscle mass may not be enough, and after an injection in the thigh, it can “pull” the leg).
Practice in front of a mirror in which position you will be comfortable injecting - standing half a turn to the mirror, or perhaps lying on your side (on the floor or sofa - it is important that the surface is hard enough, so the injection process will be more controlled).
Preparatory stage:

First prepare everything you need:
- cotton balls moistened with 96 alcohol;
- a three-component syringe 2.5 - 11 ml (depending on the volume of the drug prescribed for administration);
- drug prescribed for administration.
Open the ampoule and draw the medicine into the syringe.

Now tap the syringe with your finger to collect all the air bubbles at the top of the syringe into one, and by gradually pressing the plunger “push” the air bubble through the needle.
To make sure there is no more air in the syringe, wait until the first drop of medicine comes out of the needle.

Wipe the injection site with alcohol.

On this preparatory stage finished.
Let's start with the actual injection.

The main thing - do not be afraid!

The hardest part about performing the injection on your own is overcoming the fear of piercing the skin. Believe me, it's not as painful as it seems.

Performing an injection
Performing an injection

1. Take the position that you have determined for yourself as the most comfortable - standing in front of a mirror or lying on your side.

2. Take the syringe in your right hand. Holding the syringe like a pen, with a decisive movement, insert the needle 3/4 of its length into the muscle. If the needle enters completely - it's not scary, you can continue the injection.

3. Holding the syringe with your left hand, shift the syringe in your right hand so that you feel comfortable with your thumb right hand drive the piston.

4. Slowly press the plunger of the syringe to inject the medicine. The slower you inject the medicine, the less likely you are to get a bump. (Attention! if you use an outdated syringe - a two-component one - with one hand, you may not be able to inject. It is not very convenient for you to inject yourself - therefore, in order not to suffer, it is better to purchase a modern three-component syringe).

5. When the medicine is administered, take a pre-prepared cotton swab dipped in alcohol with your left hand, press the injection site. With your right hand at this time, with a sharp movement, remove the needle.
Massage the injection site.

Performing a subcutaneous injection:

Wash your hands (put on gloves);

Treat the injection site sequentially with two cotton balls with alcohol: first a large area, then the injection site itself;

Take the syringe in your right hand (“put” it in your hand - hold the needle cannula with the 2nd finger of the right hand, hold the cylinder from below with the 3rd-4th fingers, and from above with the 1st finger);

With your left hand, gather the skin into a triangular fold, base down;

Insert the needle at an angle of 45 ° into the base of the skin fold to a depth of 2/3 of the length of the needle, hold the cannula of the needle with your index finger;

Transfer left hand on the piston and inject the drug (do not transfer the syringe from one hand to the other);

Apply a clean cotton ball with alcohol to the injection site.

Intravenously

1 The main thing is compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards: use only unused syringes and only once! (I consider the disposable syringes of the company “BD” to be the highest quality). Disinfect the injection area with medical alcohol, and use only sterile medical cotton from the pharmacy for wetting! Wash your hands thoroughly with soap, and it is better not to wipe them with a towel, but to dry them over a pre-lit gas stove. It is necessary to break the ampoules with a special cutting plate (sometimes it comes in a package with ampoules), which is also desirable to be disinfected with alcohol.

2 Moisten a piece of cotton wool with alcohol and wipe the inner bend of the elbow joint (side of the arms, left or right, choose at your discretion - as you like) Do not throw away the cotton wool, put it somewhere in a clean place. Prepare a place in advance: you will need to sit on a sofa or chair, cross your legs and stick your left hand into the crosshairs. Clamp your hand with your thigh just above the elbow joint and rhythmically squeeze and unclench your hand. From time to time, loosen the pressure of the leg so that more blood enters the limb. Veins should appear soon. At the very bend of the inside of the elbow joint, you will see the thickest vein. Take a syringe with a pre-filled drug and inject half a centimeter into a vein. Big and index fingers pull the syringe plunger back to draw blood. If it bleeds, then you've been hit. We slightly weaken the pressure of the leg and begin to inject the contents of the syringe into the vein. Inject slowly, some drugs have a “rushing” effect, when a completely undiluted amount of the drug enters the brain. Usually there is a little air left in the syringe, so you can not press the piston to the end. Gently withdraw the needle from the vein, immediately apply cotton and flex the joint. The injection site usually heals within 15 minutes.

3 do not forget to release the air from the syringe in the same way as in intramuscular injections i.e. very carefully.

P.S. Found info on the internet. Himself did only inside the muscle. The worst thing is to pierce the skin. And I'm not a drug addict, I just thought it would be useful to know.

According to the rules, intramuscular subcutaneous injections should be given by a trained medical professional. There are cases when it is not possible to call a doctor or visit a hospital, but it is necessary to take medicine. In such situations, everyone should know how to put an injection in the buttock. This knowledge will not be a burden to you, but it can come in handy at any moment. Having learned valuable advice and little tricks from professionals in this matter, you can easily help someone in need and even save a person's life.

Preparing for an injection

There are a number of preparatory manipulations that must be performed before intramuscular injection:

  1. First of all, wash your hands thoroughly with detergent under warm water. Doctors recommend lathering and washing off several times so that the available microbes do not get on the patient's skin. If it is not possible to do this manipulation, it is allowed to use an antiseptic wipe.
  2. top wipe the ampoules with the medicine with an alcohol or antiseptic wipe: the storage conditions of the drugs are not always sterile.
  3. Lightly tap the top of the ampoule with your finger to shake off the remaining solution.
  4. Using a napkin, break off the cap (away from you) in the place marked with a dot or a white stripe, less often at the kink. Place the opened ampoule on a clean tray or plate.
  5. Take the syringe, observing the rules of sterility, open the package: make a tear from the side of the piston without touching the needle.
  6. Take out the syringe, insert the needle.
  7. Holding the base of the needle with your fingers, remove the cap, immerse it in the ampoule with the solution.
  8. Pulling the plunger, draw up the medicine. Turning the syringe up, gently release air bubbles, put a protective cap on the needle.

In which part of the buttock to put an injection

The most exciting question after preparing the syringe is how to properly inject into the buttock. It is forbidden to inject without identifying the injection site. To properly inject, you need to use your imagination to divide the buttock into four equal parts. The introduction of the needle must be done in a square that is closer to the edge. This is very important: if you inject the buttocks in any other place, then there may be such consequences:

  • damage to the sciatic nerve;
  • seizures pain;
  • loss of sensation in the thigh;
  • amyotrophy.

Intramuscular injection technique

Many nurses admire their ability to give injections quickly, without pain. This skill is honed over the years and comes with experience. How to put injections in the buttock? Following simple recommendations, everyone can learn how to inject their loved ones:

  1. According to the rules, during the procedure for administering the medicine, a person must take a prone position, but if the injection is given in an extreme situation, urgently, then it can be done while standing.
  2. Before starting the procedure, feel the buttock to exclude the presence of seals from previous injections. You can’t prick there: the sensations will be very painful, and it will be difficult for the medicinal solution to disperse through the tissues due to such an obstacle.
  3. Wipe the area with an alcohol wipe. The area for the insertion of the needle is disinfected, moving from the intergluteal fold to the edge. In this case, do not rub with force. The disinfected area must dry completely.
  4. Putting a hand on the buttock and thereby limiting the square for the injection, the needle is quickly but deeply inserted so that a few millimeters remain from its base to the skin.
  5. It is necessary to pull the valve towards you a little to make sure that the needle does not stick into the vessel. If blood is drawn with a syringe, then the injection should be pricked by finding another place.
  6. By pressing on the syringe plunger, inject the medicine. The solution must be administered very slowly. Otherwise, it will separate the tissues and a hematoma (bruise) and painful bumps may form. They can dissolve very long time.
  7. After that, take out the needle, press the injection site with an alcohol wipe, hold until the blood clots.

In order not to frighten the child with a painful procedure and not leave negative impressions from injections for life, pediatrics shares some tricks on how to inject a baby in the ass. Rules for intramuscular injection of the drug:

  1. Before inserting the needle, use two fingers to stretch the skin. Stretching the tissue, inject. So the child will not feel pain.
  2. A distracting maneuver can be a slap on the pope and the rapid insertion of a needle. When the hand is on the child's buttock, you control the degree of muscle tension. If a person strains, then this moment is dangerous for inserting a needle: the injection will be more painful.

Safety regulations

How to inject injections in the buttock, you already know. There is one more important point: at the end of the procedure, all waste materials must be disposed of. There are special boxes in the hospital where gloves, needles and wipes are treated with a disinfectant and then destroyed. At home, it is recommended to break the integrity of the needle. Then you need to close it with a protective cap and throw it away with the syringe, cotton wool and the remains of the ampoule so that small children do not get to them.

Video tutorials: how to do an injection in the buttock

A selection of videos on how to properly inject injections into the buttock will be useful to everyone without exception. The first video will be interesting because a woman tells how to learn how to make an intramuscular injection. Watch the video for valuable tips. You will learn how to give intramuscular injections. The second video will help those who do not have the opportunity to get help from a health worker or loved one. The girl will show you how to inject yourself quickly and painlessly. In the video, you will see how to hold the syringe so that it is convenient to inject the medicine into the muscle yourself.

How to inject yourself

It happens that you need to give an injection, but there is no doctor nearby. And you have to turn to relatives and those who are nearby. There are craftsmen who can give injections to themselves, but this is not very good idea, if only because it's inconvenient. It is better to give instructions to a person who is ready to help with the procedure.

Step 1. Prepare everything you need

Soap. Doesn't have to be antibacterial.

Towel. It should be clean, and better - disposable.

Plate. It will need to lay down all the tools. At home, it is difficult to disinfect the surface of the table, for example, so you need to work from a plate. It must be washed with soap and wiped with an antiseptic - an alcohol wipe or cotton wool with alcohol or chlorhexidine.

Gloves. At home, gloves are often neglected, but in vain. Since there is no question of any sterility, gloves are especially needed to protect both the patient and the person giving the injection from the transmission of infections.

Syringes. The volume of the syringe must match the volume of the medicine. If the medicine needs to be diluted, then keep in mind that it is better to take a larger syringe.

Needles. They will be needed if the medicine needs to be diluted. For example, if a dry preparation is sold in an ampoule with a rubber cap, then it is diluted as follows:

  1. The solvent is drawn into the syringe.
  2. The rubber cap is pierced with a needle, the solvent is released into the ampoule.
  3. Shake the ampoule without removing the needle to dissolve the medicine.
  4. Draw the solution back into the syringe.

After that, the needle must be changed, because the one that has already pierced the rubber cover is not suitable for an injection: it is not sharp enough.

Antiseptic or alcohol wipes. You need alcohol 70%, an antiseptic based on it or chlorhexidine. For the home, disposable alcohol wipes, which are sold at any pharmacy, are best.

Place for garbage. Somewhere you have to put the waste material: packaging, lids, napkins. It is better to immediately dump them into a separate box, basket or wherever it is convenient for you, so that all this does not fall on a plate with clean tools.

Step 2. Learn to wash your hands

You will have to wash your hands three times: before collecting the instruments, before the injection and after the procedure. If that seems like a lot, then it seems to you.

Lifehacker wrote about how to properly wash your hands. This one has all the basic movements, but add a couple more to them: separately lather each finger on both hands and wrists.

Step 3. Prepare the site

Choose a convenient place so that you can put the plate with tools and easily reach it. Another essential attribute is good lighting.

It does not matter how the person who is given the injection is located. He can stand or lie down, whichever is more convenient for him. But the one who injects should also be comfortable so that the hands do not shake and do not have to pull the needle during the injection. So choose a position that suits everyone.

If you are afraid to prick in the wrong place, draw a hefty cross right on the buttock before the procedure.

First, draw a vertical line in the middle of the buttocks, then a horizontal one. Upper outer corner- the place where you can prick. If you're still scared, draw a circle in that corner. For artistic painting at least an old lipstick or cosmetic pencil will do, just make sure that particles of these products do not get into the injection site.

While the patient lies and is afraid, we begin the procedure.

Step 4. Do it right

  1. Wash your hands and plate.
  2. Clean your hands and plate with antiseptic. Throw away the cotton wool or napkin immediately after processing.
  3. Open five alcohol wipes or make as many cotton balls with antiseptic. Put them on a plate.
  4. Get the medicine vial and syringe, but don't open them yet.
  5. Wash your hands.
  6. Put on gloves and treat them with an antiseptic.
  7. Take the ampoule with the medicine, treat it with an antiseptic and open it. Place the ampoule on a plate.
  8. Open the syringe package.
  9. Open the needle and draw the medicine into the syringe.
  10. Turn the syringe with the needle up and release the air.
  11. Treat the buttock of the patient with a napkin with alcohol or an antiseptic. First, a large area. Then take another napkin and wipe the place where you will inject. Movements for processing - from the center to the periphery or from the bottom up, in one direction.
  12. Take the syringe in any way that suits you. The needle should be perpendicular to the skin. Insert the needle in one motion. It is not necessary to drive it all the way so as not to break it: 0.5–1 cm should remain outside.
  13. Enter the medicine. Take your time, make sure that the syringe and needle do not dangle or twitch. You can hold the syringe with one hand and press the plunger with the other.
  14. Take the last alcohol pad or cotton swab, apply it near the injection site and pull the needle out in one motion to quickly press the wound.
  15. Do not rub anything with a napkin, just press and hold.
  16. Throw away used tools.
  17. Wash your hands.

If the injection is painful, inject the medicine slowly. It seems that the faster, the sooner the person is tormented, but in fact, a slow introduction is more comfortable. average speed- 1 ml in 10 seconds.

Do not be afraid to once again treat the ampoule, hands or skin with an antiseptic. It's better to overdo it than underdo it.

If you need to change needles after taking medication, do not remove the cap from a new one until you have installed it on the syringe. Otherwise, you can get stuck. For the same reason, never try to cover the needle with a cap if you have already removed it.

If you do not know how hard to stick the needle, practice at least for chicken fillet. Just to understand that it's not scary.

When it is impossible to give an injection without specialists

  1. If the drug was not prescribed by a doctor. In general, it is not necessary to engage in self-treatment, and even more so with injections, even if for some reason you want to “prick vitamins”. The drug, its dosage, how to dilute it - this is all set by the doctor, and only he.
  2. If the patient has never taken this drug before. Many medicines have side effects and may cause unwanted reactions. Medicines that are administered through injections enter the blood faster, therefore, reactions to them appear quickly and strongly. Therefore, the first injection is best done in medical institution and do not rush to run away from there, but wait 5-10 minutes so that everything is in order. If something goes wrong, the clinic will help, but at home you can not cope.
  3. When it is possible to use the services of doctors, but do not want to. An intramuscular injection is short and inexpensive, and homemade activities can end, so you won’t be able to save either money or time.
  4. When the person requiring the injection has HIV, hepatitis, or other blood-borne infections, or if it is not known whether the person has these infections (no valid certificate). In this case, it is better to entrust the matter to specialists in order to eliminate the risk of infection: doctors have more experience, and they then dispose of the tools as expected.
  5. If you are very scared and your hands are shaking so that you do not hit the patient.
