Xiaomi mi air purifier 2 in the carpentry.

More recently, Xiaomi has updated its savior for allergy sufferers - the Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 air purifier. What have the Chinese improved in the device? Let's watch our review!

What is it for?

In a modern metropolis, air quality leaves much to be desired. Harmful particles enter the lungs, and often cause diseases of the respiratory system. Even more goes to people with allergies, who find it difficult to hide from irritants.

Fortunately, Xiaomi has released its Mi Air Purifier 2, which can clean the air of all harmful particles, odors or allergens in a living space in just 10 minutes.

Design and dimensions

Unfortunately, the sink is supplied only to the domestic market of China, so it has to be delivered by mail or courier company. Unlike its predecessor, the device has become more compact, which makes it possible to significantly simplify and reduce the cost of delivering the cleaner.

The design of the air purifier is minimalistic - a stylish "box" made of white plastic will succinctly fit into any interior, and its reduced dimensions (only half a meter in height) will allow you to occupy less space.

Chinese engineers equipped the device with just two buttons, which are located on the top and on the back panel. The top is responsible for turning the device on and off, as well as changing operating modes. The side one is used to connect to WIFI. On the front side there is an indicator of the level of air pollution. Green light means that the air is clean, yellow - intermediate, and red - dangerous.

How does it work?

"Dirty" air is sucked into the holes located on three sides and passes through a HEPA filter with three layers of activated carbon, which traps all harmful gases and small particles. After cleaning, "clean" air exits through the top opening of the device.

By pressing the multifunctional key, which is located on top, the operating mode changes. There are 3 of them - “auto”, “night” and “custom”. The "auto" mode measures the air quality with sensors built into the device and automatically, in real time, adjusts the power of work. The "night" mode sets the minimum fan speed - the device works quietly and does not interfere with sleep. The "custom" mode sets the speed of the air cleaner, which was set in the mobile application.

The power of Mi Purifier 2 is enough to purify the air in a room with an area of 46 square meters, while consuming the device from 1.5 W to 31 W per hour, which is very economical.

The HEPA filter comes with the device and is designed for 150 days of use. After this period, the filter must be replaced. This is done quite simply - through the back cover.

Phone control

Xiaomi air purifier as well as other devices smart home Xiaomi is controlled through the Mi Home app, which is available for both Android and iOS. The application shows the level of air pollution, the mode and speed of the fan (you can change the settings directly in the application), the expiration date of the filter, as well as the temperature and humidity of the air in the room. If you have children, you can activate child protection (all buttons on the very purifier will stop working). Also, using the program, you can update the firmware on the device.

Conclusion

The Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier 2 air purifier will become simply indispensable for residents of large cities or areas with poor ecology, as well as for people who suffer from allergies. It will become more comfortable to sleep in the room, extraneous odors will disappear, and all harmful substances will settle on the HEPA filter of the purifier.

The cost of this purifier is much lower than that of competitors, and is or $ 220 on Aliexpress.

China is one of the first places in the world in terms of air pollution. Xiaomi company offers solutions for indoor air purification. These are universal air purifiers of the MI Air purifier series.

Major cities continuously produce dust. Cars, industries, trade, crowds of many people and animals, all this fills the air with microparticles of dust and dirt, which in high concentrations leads to diseases. immune system. Dirt big cities- this is not the dirt that is needed to adapt the body to reality, there is simply too much of it - bacteria, harmful chemicals, particles of other people's skin and clothes, particles of garbage, excrement, burning and soot. All this rises into the air and rushes into our lungs, causing asthma, bronchitis, runny nose and general soreness. This is especially true for children and the elderly with weakened immune systems. To cope with pollution, it is highly desirable to use a so-called air washer. Consider the best solutions from Xiaomi -,.

We note right away that solutions from Xiaomi, with the same efficiency, are about half the price of their competitors' counterparts.

Xiaomi

The most powerful and productive air purifier from the Mi Air Purifier line. Estimated cost from 30 thousand rubles. The device is designed for rooms up to 120 square meters in size. In an ordinary room with an area of about 20 meters, it will purify the air in a few minutes.

Advantages and Features

  • The purifier works almost silently, the operation of the fans is not audible. The noise level does not exceed 34 dB in the minimum mode.
  • Due to the significant volume of processed air, the grilles for discharging purified air are made at an angle. This is done to avoid drafts.
  • 2 filters work at the same time, the filter cartridge is located under the top cover. Cartridges are recommended to be changed every six months to a year, depending on the level of contamination.
  • Three-stage filter traps dust, allergens, bacteria, tobacco smoke, formaldehyde and even eliminate harmful gases.
  • Stylish round OLED display provides information on air pollution, humidity and temperature. All models of the line have a display automatic tuning brightness depending on the lighting. This is done so that the display does not shine into the eyes at night. You can set the automatic mode, Xiaomi will turn on and off on its own.
  • The laser sensor detects airborne contaminants. System artificial intelligence determines the level of contamination and selects the operating mode.
  • Due to the slight paranoia of the system, it will be more convenient to use a smartphone and control Mi Air Purifier through the Mi Home or Mi App application.
  • You can easily program a convenient cleaning mode from your smartphone and run Xiaomi according to your schedule. It's easier than setting an alarm on your mobile phone.

Air purifier, designed for an area of about 60 square meters. Great for small apartment. The cost of the cleaner is about 20 thousand rubles. This is one of the first innovative air purifiers released by Xiaomi. It has all the functions of the Mi Air Purifier line.

An excellent air purifier that you can buy today at favorable price. Like all models of the line, it is controlled and configured from a smartphone, perfectly cleans the air, uses standard original cartridges.

The new version of Xiaomi Mi Air Purifier, designed for rooms up to 32 -46 square meters. The cost of the cleaner this moment is about 130-140 dollars. The best decision for a studio, children's, one-room apartment.

The smell of food, cigarette smoke, unpleasant odors from the sewer, traffic under the windows, allergies - these are just a few of the reasons that make us think about buying an air purifier in the house. The choice of air purifiers or filters for air purification is quite large. There are both simple and inexpensive models, as well as professional filters that differ high efficiency and price. The air purifier, which will be discussed in this review, refers to mid-level filters in terms of price, but in terms of capabilities it is not inferior, and in some ways even surpasses professional models. True, this became clear to me only after I tried it in action. I bought it, I completely different reasons. I just wanted to complement my smart home system with another innovative device from Xiaomi.

Mine Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s. Delivery this time took about 20 days, taking into account new year holidays. The box with the air cleaner is quite large (60x30x30 cm), but not heavy ー about 6 kg. Inside the box, the air cleaner itself with installed filter, network cable and user manual on Chinese.

Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s, is made in the floor version and has a well-recognized design. A similar design is used, for example, in a portable Xiaomi column Mi AI, a review of which can be read here. It is distinguished by the use of a beautiful, white body made of matte plastic with original perforations on all sides, which, in this case, play the role of a ventilation grill through which air is taken.

Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s is a rather large device. It measures 50x24x24 cm and weighs about 5 kg. By default, the manufacturer positions it as a floor device, but nothing prevents you from placing it on a cabinet, bedside table, or any other elevation. I can not say that in this case it will look cumbersome.

The large size of the air cleaner is due to the need to ensure high air purification performance. How larger size filter, the more air to pass through the air cleaner at one time. In the case of Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s, the filter takes up more than half of its internal space. This allows you to drive through yourself 310 cubic meters of air per hour.

The filter has a cylindrical shape, which allows you to capture air 360 degrees. This, by the way, is one of the main differences between the Xiaomi air purifier and other models. The filter has three-layer construction. The outer layer is a mesh that traps large particles. This layer is protective for the second layer, which is a HEPA filter H11. This is a very important layer. It captures the smallest particles, 0.015-0.3 microns in size, which pass through the first layer. It is very effective in filtering out allergens, germs, fine dust particles, mold spores and infections. And finally, the third layer - Activated carbon. It perfectly absorbs unpleasant odors and, in general, is an excellent adsorbent. This filter design allows you to retain 99.99% of PM 2.5 particles, as well as purify the air from unpleasant odors.

The purified air that has passed through the filter is directed upwards by two powerful fans at the top of the air cleaner. They create two spiral air streams, which ensures the necessary air exchange efficiency.

A distinctive feature of Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s from other Xiaomi air purifiers is an OLED display that displays real-time PM 2.5 index, current temperature and humidity, as well as the current operating mode.

If desired, the screen can be turned off using the button on back side corps. But honestly I don't see it special meaning. The image on the OLED screen looks like a simple inscription. It does not illuminate half the room and does not irritate the eyes in the dark. In addition, the screen brightness is automatically adjusted depending on the ambient light. To do this, the case has a light sensor located next to the power button and change the operating mode on the upper edge of the case.

Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s can work in one of three modes. The automatic mode of operation provides for automatic adjustment of the fan speed depending on the degree of air pollution. With a low PM 2.5 index, the fans run at low speeds and are completely silent. At great importance PM2.5 index, the fan speed is increased to move air through the filter faster, and then the fan speed is reduced to a quiet level. The second mode is night mode. In this mode, the fan operates in silent mode, regardless of the level of air pollution. And, finally, the third mode - user. In this mode, the user himself determines the rotation speed.

How does Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s calculate the PM 2.5 index? For this, a laser sensor is used, which counts the number of particles in the purified air stream. The particle sensor has a removable design, which is very important in terms of air cleaner maintenance.

Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s can be controlled both with the button on the case and with the help of mobile application Mi Home, including remotely, via the Internet.

Mi Home allows you not only to turn the air purifier on and off, select the desired operating mode and see the current values of the PM 2.5 index, temperature, humidity, etc., while away from home, but also create convenient schedules and work scenarios, allow other family members to manage Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s and what seemed very important to me, to share environmental information with the whole world.

The initial setup of Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s under Mi Home caused me some difficulties. The principle of adding an air cleaner is extremely simple. After installation and authorization in the Mi Home application, you need to connect to the Wi-Fi of the air purifier (after resetting the parameters to the default value). Then we launch Mi Home and find a new device. Here there was a problem. Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s did not want to be detected either in manual or automatic modes. After numerous attempts, I, nevertheless, managed to solve this problem. It's all about choosing the wrong region during the initial setup of Mi Home. Remember Xiaomi releases different products for different regions. By choosing another region for which no such air cleaner was released, the application simply could not know about it. In general, there is something strange in this approach. However, after I chose mainland China as the region, where my Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s was actually bought, the problem with device detection immediately disappeared.

I was asked to select the room where the air purifier is installed, after which I was able to fully control it from the application or from a convenient widget on the desktop.

I note that in this case the name of the air cleaner and the widget are presented in Chinese, but nothing prevents us from changing the name to Russian.

AT Xiaomi settings Air Purifier 2s through the application, you can turn off the display, but I did not do this. The display is very convenient and I see no reason to turn it off. But I turned off the sounds with pleasure. Although they are not intrusive, I do not need them. As for the expansion of functionality, the most important for me is the creation of a schedule, where you can specify the on and off times, as well as the frequency.

An important issue is the care of the air cleaner. In the case of Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s, it is quite simple. The user is required only in 3-6 months (depending on air pollution) to change the filter, which costs about one and a half thousand rubles. You don't have to remember when to change the filter. The Mi Home app will notify you when it needs to be done.

In addition to changing the filter, it is sometimes necessary to wipe the particulate sensor. It is very easy to do with a cotton swab.

Now let's talk about whether such a device is needed at home or not? In my case, Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s shows a rather low PM 2.5 index, which can be interpreted as fresh air in the apartment. But this does not mean that my purchase is in vain. Here, the main thing to remember is that an air purifier is not a vacuum cleaner and its main task is not only to reduce the concentration of the smallest solid particles in the air, but also to trap allergens, infections, mold spores, and also to eliminate unpleasant odors. For allergens and other smallest particles, I can’t say anything yet, but Xiaomi Air Purifier 2s copes very well with the smells of food in the room.

At first glance, not a cheap device, but if you seriously think about what you breathe, then I highly recommend this particular air purifier. Thanks to circular air entrainment and dual silent fan, it provides quite high performance, and the beautiful OLED screen allows you to see the purity of your air, temperature and humidity in real time. Separately, I want to once again draw attention to the possibility of control over the Internet. This allows you to maintain clean air in the apartment or country house even if you are thousands of miles away.

Hello, friends

introduction

I looked at this device for quite a long time, first of all, I was bribed by a fairly affordable price for such a class of devices - at the level of manufacturers unknown to me such as ZENET, STEBA and others that are present in local stores, and many times cheaper than more advanced air washers - prices for which start at around $500

The principle of operation is that the fan of the device drives the air through a special filter, thus cleaning it from fine dust particles - PM2.5.

Many articles have been written about the harm of these particles, for example, smart Chinese, who have long understood what danger these particles represent - have long been monitoring their level in the atmosphere, like a weather forecast. Here is an excerpt from one of these articles under the spoiler -

Additional Information

PM2.5 is particulate matter less than 2.5 microns in size. Their diameter is 30 times smaller than the diameter of a human hair. These include a mixture of dust particles, ash, soot, as well as sulfates and nitrates suspended in the air. It is these substances that cause clouding of the air, typical for the centers of the largest metropolitan areas.
PM2.5 particles can travel deep into the airways and settle in the lungs. Inhalation of these particles can cause irritation to the eyes, nose, throat, or lungs, as well as bouts of coughing, runny nose, and choking. But this does not exhaust the danger of their impact. The World Health Organization standard for PM2.5 particles is 25 micrograms per cubic meter. Exceeding this limit can disrupt the normal functioning of the lungs and cause the development of many dangerous diseases, such as lung cancer, respiratory infections and cardiovascular diseases. According to a report published in the US in 2010, PM2.5 particles are responsible for the premature deaths of 7,300 to 11,000 Californians annually.

Purchase

After waiting for the next flash sale, which took place in early April, I bought the hero of the review for $150, in total, together with delivery, he cost me $156.53

By the way, on the Russian version of the store - add ru. before gearbest - usually much cheaper, works with many products.

Delivery and unpacking

The delivery took place almost as usual, like all other parcels, except that the parcel hung at the sorting center of the delivery service a little longer than usual. Just in case, I called hotline- and on the same day the parcel was brought to the house by a courier.

The box is rather big, 58 cm high, for scale I put an ordinary stool next to it.

There is a sticker on the box from which you can get information about the overall dimensions - 29 * 29 * 58 cm, maximum power consumption 31 watts, weight 6.2 kg, operating voltage 100 - 240 V.

This cardboard box, as opposed to, for example, ceiling lamp- where inside was another one, white beautiful packaging, for the cleaner is the only and main one. Inside, under the cover is a foam seal and the device itself.

Appearance, dimensions

Dimensions of the cleaner without box - 52*24*24 cm.

The lower part of the case has perforations - a lot of holes through which air is taken in for cleaning

In the upper part there is a fan, which occupies almost the entire surface area, which provides draft and ejection of purified air upwards. Also on the top is a device control button.

In the upper part of the frontal surface there are indicators of the operating modes of the device - Auto, Sleep mode and Favorites.

There are also perforations on the right and left sides, but occupying a slightly smaller area than on the front.

On the back there is a removable cover that gives access to the internal compartment with an air filter.

Above the cover there is a button for resetting the filter - this means resetting its state to 100% when installing a new one, and the cover behind which there is a dust sensor, which is also periodically suggested to be cleaned.

Purifier device

Air filter

During transportation, in the inner compartment, in addition to the filter, there is also an instruction manual and a power cable.

On the inside covers, in Chinese, but in clear pictures, the process of replacing the air filter, and cleaning the dust sensor is shown

The air filter has a diameter of 20 and a height of 30 cm

The filter has a multilayer structure - the outer part is close-up

Inner part

Power cable

Cable gray color, length - 6 feet, approximately 1.8 meters

Plug - Type I, triple - Chinese-Australian-New Zealand.

But on the other hand, there is a relatively standard triple connector, which is often found, for example, when connected to laptop power supplies. I found the right cable in my stash

Which fits perfectly with the purifier - eliminating the need to change the plug on the native cable

Although for me personally - there is no need for this, thanks to extension cords from Xiaomi - using which I do not have to think about whether the plug will fit or not.

Fan

During normal operation in automatic mode and in sleep mode (the fan rotates in all modes, except for the off mode), the noise of the engine and fan is completely inaudible.

By the way, if you look from the inside, you can see that the fan is dual

When the concentration of dust in the air rises, or when forced into forced mode, air noise is heard, at a maximum comparable to the operation of a robotic vacuum cleaner, only the air noise prevails, and not the engine.

Software

To work with the cleaner, we need the same application - Mi Home. After switching on, the device is automatically detected and connected to the system. The connection process is standard, I won’t describe it again, I’ll just say in general list devices in the Mi Home app - Grid View display mode - which I call "Remote control for UD" - in the square of the purifier, information about the level of pollution is displayed. 600 PM2.5 - I didn’t put it in the cement shop, it was such a value out of the box.

Appearance control plugin

Depending on the mode of operation - either the status is turned off or the amount of PM 2.5 is displayed, in sleep mode - the background turns blue.

Scrolling below you can see the temperature and humidity, climate comfort and air quality rating, the number of days until the filter is changed and the location. It also contains information on the amount of purified air. The menu contains settings - operating instructions, filter reset (analogue of a button on the back), notification of incorrect operation of the cleaner, sound accompaniment of actions, brightness level or turning off the LEDs. It is possible to disable hardware buttons - from children, and control the device only from the application.

On the menu advanced settings you can rename the device, give access to it from another account, determine the room in which it is located, enable / disable the tray icon, check for updates, etc.

In scenarios, the device can work as a condition, the options are not translated here, the first pair is humidity - less than and more than the set value, the second is the number of detected particles PM 2.5 - less and more than the set limit. As actions, you can set the on, off, sleep, automatic or favorites mode.

Favorite mode - allows you to manually set the intensity of air purification, depending on the area of the room. Adjustable from a minimum of 1-4 and a maximum of 34-37 square meters.

The power consumed by the device - from 1.5 watts in standby mode to 28 watts at full power - in Favorites mode 34-37 sq.m. Working in automatic mode - the power is regulated depending on the degree of contamination.

The plugin can be Russified, I use the Opel translation plugins (from w3bsit3-dns.com) which are

The work of the purifier

The purifier has been working for me for more than a week, in automatic mode, in the smart home scenarios, the transition to sleep mode at 22:30 and the exit from it at 6:00 on weekdays and 8:30 on weekends is registered. Also, the cleaner automatically turns off when the window is opened - the opening sensor. It reacts adequately to pollution when I expanded the recess for the socket in order to install another Aqara switch, which raised dust - reacted to it by turning on cleaning at increased power.

As of this time - 5% of the filter was used up, worked for 149.2 hours, which is equivalent to being in some Chinese forest for 6.2 days, and cleared 5585 cubic meters air that can fill almost 2 balloons.

Externally, according to the filter - no traces of use are visible at all

Has the air become cleaner - at least in terms of the purifier - yes, from a level in the region of 40-50 PM2.5 - it lowers to a value of 10-15. Has there been less dust - due to the condition of the furniture? Not particularly noticeable, the dust as it was about the same and remained. Subjectively, it has become easier to breathe, although this may also be an effect of self-hypnosis - although a constantly running fan mixes the air in the room, it becomes noticeably cooler with intensive work.

This is where I will complete my review, except that I will add that the device does not work with the Domoticz system, but this is not necessary in principle - the cleaner works in automatic mode, I just added a shutdown when the window is opened.
