LG G4 review: android flagship with a special touch. Antenna connected to the router via coaxial cable

The design of the Digma CITI 8542 cannot be called very original, it is a typical tablet, but it is assembled quite well.

The device looks typical for its category - a rectangle with rounded edges and fairly wide glossy frames. For a tablet, it can even be more convenient - it's easier to hold in your hands without touching the screen. There is nothing more to note here, except for the earpiece above the display and the fact that the control buttons are touch-sensitive and are on the screen. The back of the tablet also looks quite typical and boring: nice metal with plastic inserts at the top and bottom, speaker holes and a camera lens with a flash.

Digma CITI 8542 is built well, for a solid four. The strength is also affected by the use of a metal back. During the two-week test, the device did not lose its presentation, only the screen film suffered in places, but this does not count - such is its fate. But to be completely critical, the rear panel is still a little. but it pushes through. In addition, in our tablet, the metal back slightly did not converge with the lower insert in the left corner. But, most likely, this is a flaw in a particular test sample. Interestingly, the case is not collapsible, but the upper plastic insert is removable, there are slots for cards under it. This option to “hide” the slots looks old-fashioned, but it does not require a key or a paper clip, only strong, healthy nails.

Digma CITI 8542 4G can be bought in one color - black, the manufacturer himself designates the color as graphite.

Dimensions and weight - 4.1

The tablet cannot be called unusually compact or light, it is quite weighty and not so thin, but for its money it has more than adequate dimensions and weight.

In terms of weight (350 grams), it is inferior to the more expensive and already old iPad Mini 4. But at the same time, it cannot be said that it is some kind of super heavy. Model dimensions - 208x124x10 mm. In terms of length and width, this is comparable to the flagship 8.4-inch (which is not Lite), that is, the Digma CITI 8542 4G frames could be narrower. But the thickness of the tablet is already typically budgetary. The device lies well in the palm of your hand, but it is still inconvenient to hold it in one hand for a long time.

Ports and interfaces - 4.4

On this point, Digma CITI 8542 4G can be called quite advanced. Even from the name it is clear that it has an LTE modem, and it can also make calls.

Above the screen of the tablet there is a separate conversational speaker, but in fact, we would advise you to use some kind of headset for conversations. It is worth noting here that the device supports two SIM-cards, but of a rather old mini format. Most likely, your smartphone uses nano or micro SIM cards, that is, you will not be able to quickly rearrange them from phone to tablet without a plastic adapter. For other communications, everything is quite typical, there is GPS / GLONASS, regular Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g / n and Bluetooth v4.0. Connectors and buttons are located as follows:

    right - power key and volume rocker;

    bottom - microphone,

    there is nothing on the left;

    on top - a microphone, microUSB 2.0, a headphone jack, and under a removable cover there is also a slot for two SIM and one memory card;

    there is nothing on the left.

Performance - 2.5

We rated the performance of Digma CITI 8542 4G as average. The tablet has a good amount of RAM (3 GB), but the chipset is only entry-level. But this is enough for adequate speed in daily use and in most games.

It seems that the processor is the only thing that was saved in one way or another in the model. It uses a quad-core MediaTek MT8735W with a frequency of up to 1.3 GHz and with a rather old tech. process (28 nm) and Mali-T720 graphics. Apparently, this is about the same as the MT6735. If we talk about daily use, then the tablet cannot be called either smart or slow: there is a certain delay between actions, but this is typical of almost any Android tablet, which is for 9, for 12, for 15 thousand rubles. In this regard, Digma CITI 8542 looks in a good light, both morally and economically. But in fact, we would not mind seeing, let's say two GB of RAM instead of three, but with a more powerful processor. If we talk about games, then on the tablet you can play almost everything, but with graphics limitations. So, we played PUBG Mobile at the minimum settings - in fact, even at such settings, fps sags from time to time, but, in general, everything is quite playable and the process is enjoyable. It is also interesting here that the tablet remains cool, even if you run tests on it or play the same heavy games, but more on that below.

If we talk about performance tests, then the tablet receives the following scores:

  • SunSpider (browser speed) - 2161 ms, quite a long time;
  • GeekBench 4 (CPU test) - 1514 points, lower than a smartphone;
  • Antutu 7 - 33543 points, comparable to the popular .
  • 3DMark Ice Storm Unlimited (graphics test) - 4725 is inferior to the phone.

Display - 4.2

The screen of Digma CITI 8542 earns its money and corresponds to the average level. It can be praised for clarity and IPS-matrix, but in other respects it is average or mediocre.

The screen resolution is good for the budget segment, 1920x1200 pixels with an aspect ratio of 16:9. Together with a diagonal of 8 inches, we get a pixel density of 283 per inch. This is comparable to 5-inch HD-smartphones, that is, very clearly, and individual squares will be visible only close to the screen - but looking at the display so close is already harmful to the eyes. Apparently, the display does not have an oleophobic coating and some special protective glass. But initially there is a barely noticeable film on the screen. It is glued very well, at first it seems that there is no film at all, but if you scratch it with your fingernail in the corners, you can pick it up and thereby verify its presence. Of some interesting details, we note the lack of auto-brightness and multi-touch with support for up to five gestures at the same time.

Initially, the small scale of fonts and icons on the screen catches the eye, but this can be easily fixed in the image scale settings. The range of measured brightness was moderate - from 40 to 292 nits. The lower limit cannot be called comfortable for darkness. And on a sunny day, on the street, the screen is read with a certain effort. The image contrast can be assessed as ordinary - 650:1, not bad, but IPS matrices can produce even more. The color gamut also turned out to be somewhere between budget TN screens and IPS displays of expensive devices: 81% of the sRGB space. The color temperature, as always, turned out to be a little too high, which is why the screen gives a little blue tint. Color accuracy is adequate, with an average deviation of about 4 units. In principle, this is the limit below which the colors begin to look unnatural. It would seem that CITI 8542 is good in this parameter, but the fact is that this is an average value, and almost all of its deviations fall on turquoise and red colors, which makes them look pale.

Battery - 2.8

The autonomy of the tablet can be called average, which again more than justifies the low price of the device.

Battery capacity - 4000 mAh. It seems to be not bad, but some smartphones like . On the other hand, the more expensive one uses a battery of almost the same capacity. In load mode, the tablet lasts three and a half hours, which is not bad for its capacity. In the Digma CITI 8542 4G video test, it shows mediocre results of 6-7 hours of video viewing, which is comparable to larger or. But in the “reading” mode at the minimum screen brightness, a good 20 hours came out. Although this is still not a reader and it is worth focusing more on 4-6 hours of active use.

Included with the tablet give the usual charging 5V and 2A, it fully charges the device in about 3 hours - again, a typical time for this category.

Cameras - 4.3

The tablet received 8 and 5 MP cameras. By the standards of tablets, they can be assessed as high-quality, they are quite comparable with smartphone cameras for 6-7 thousand rubles.

The camera interface is typical for an Android device, there is a flash, autofocus, HDR mode, panorama shooting. In terms of quality, it is mediocre for its resolution, even in the daytime photos sometimes make a little noise and suffer from overexposure, there is a reluctance to shoot macro, but for a passing frame, such a camera will do just fine. The front camera is capable of supporting video calls and taking reasonable selfies in good lighting conditions. The main camera can record Full HD video (1920x1080 pixels), and the front camera only up to 640x480 pixels.

Sample photos from Digma CITI 8542 4G

Digma CITI 8542 4G hardly heats up, even if you play something heavy on it or run performance tests in a row. In "reading" mode with the display on, the case temperature remains cool and comfortable. If you run tests and games on it, then after half an hour it becomes somewhat warm only on the lower frame, and then we are talking about a temperature of about 38 degrees, which definitely will not cause discomfort in work.

Memory - 4.0

Digma CITI 8542 4G comes with 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Of these, about 26.3 GB will be available to you. Again, for the money it is more than worthy. If you suddenly do not have enough, then you can easily add another 64 GB using a microSD memory card. Although the only adequate scenario when you will not have enough of such volumes is if you upload movies or series to your tablet for viewing.

Smartphones with 4G support are becoming more and more popular in Russia. They allow you to access the global network at speeds of 30-50 Mbps, which is comparable to wired Internet. The only thing that confuses is the price. Not everyone can afford devices for 12 or more thousand rubles. The Internet project "Be Mobile" has selected the ten most interesting models of 2017 with 4G support at the lowest price.

We continue to acquaint users of our project with the most interesting mobile devices. We recommend reading:

The cheapest smartphones with LTE support are offered by mobile operators who want to stimulate the consumption of their services by subscribers. However, these devices have one drawback. All of them can work in the network of a single telecom operator. Of course, there are options for flashing and hacking such models, but in this case you lose the warranty from the manufacturer.

We focused on smartphones that work with SIM cards of any operators. In addition, most of them have support for two SIM cards. The list includes only those models that can currently be bought in large retail chains and online stores. We did not take into account the so-called gray devices with a missing EAEU certificate. All models are arranged in ascending order of price - no more than 12,000 rubles.

The device from LG boasts an attractive design and a high level of production and assembly. The smartphone will last an average of 2 days without recharging. In intensive mode, it will have to be charged once a day. A good level of autonomy is the merit of the MediaTek MT6737 hardware platform and a budget 4.5-inch display. The camera shoots frankly poorly here, but the biggest problem is not the largest amount of RAM. The phone is slow if you start playing popular toys on it. It is also noticeable in the case of working with multiple windows in the browser or in games. It's worth knowing about it.

Rating of non-operator 4G smartphones worth up to 12,000 rubles according to the website:

id="sub10">

Alcatel Shine Lite- the most technologically advanced

ASUS ZenFone Go ZB500KL- the best ratio "performance-autonomy"

Fly FS511 Cirrus 7- best value for money

Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4 5045D- the most affordable smartphone with a 5-inch screen

LG K3 LTE- the most affordable smartphone with a 4.5 inch screen

Of course, such smartphones, with or without LTE, are simple state employees with more than modest characteristics. Often for the same money you can find 3G-models with more worthy and modern stuffing. Accordingly, they should be advised only to those who need the simplest smartphone capable of using high-speed data transfer. Some use such devices as wired modems for a computer or gadgets for distributing Wi-Fi, while others simply use the Web, listen to music from online services and forget about a slow Internet connection. For all this, the listed models are quite suitable.

At first glance, an eternity has passed since the release of the LG G2 review. At that time, gadgets were not so big and expensive, and performance grew with each subsequent generation so that it was visible to the naked eye.

Later we got acquainted with its successor - LG G3, the price tag of which has already come close to the flagships of other leading manufacturers. It offered several unique features in its segment, for example, a QHD screen and a laser autofocus camera - this is how LG paved the way from the Varangians to the Greeks to the premium segment. However, in terms of sales, the G3 was still inferior even to Sony's flagships that came out twice as often. And the circulation of the main Korean competitor - Samsung - LG managers probably cannot watch without tears for a long time.

But now a year has passed, it's time to follow the rest of the players to release a new flagship. It is not surprising that the manufacturer pins special hopes on him. The novelty received the expected name - G4. Without imagination, but users will not be confused. At least until stripped-down junior models come out: with suffixes S, mini, Stylus and others. But let's not guess, perhaps the manufacturer will pleasantly surprise us.

And now we will figure out how the full-fledged LG G4 is ready to please a potential user, which, thanks to Premium Brands, can already be purchased in Moscow.

Competition in the top segment has been heating up for more than a year, and it is becoming more and more difficult to stay in the fight. In order to attract buyers, Samsung now offers glass-and-metal smartphones with rounded displays, HTC continues to conjure with an all-aluminum body, as well as signature stereo speakers and Sense shell, and Sony still bets on strict design and water resistance.

So what does the LG G4 have to offer? It may seem that the company repeats the experience of its main competitor - Samsung. Judge for yourself: we have a smartphone with a collapsible body and a leather back cover. Doesn't it remind you of anything? Unless it's real leather. In addition, a variety of branded covers are promised, allowing you to diversify the design of the device and stand out from the crowd.

However, there have never been any questions about the latter - LG flagships perfectly emphasize the uniqueness of their owners - simply because you still have to try to meet another like it. Well, enough irony. At least at first glance, the smartphone turned out to be more than pretty. Judge for yourself.

Judging by the "naked" characteristics, then we have just a planned cosmetic update. Yes, the fears of some users were justified, and the LG G4 received "only" the 808th chip instead of 810, like the HTC One M9. I must say that compared to the Snapdragon 801, performance should not increase very significantly.

Other characteristics look even paler: the battery capacity has not increased, the amount of RAM has not taken a new bar, and the built-in drive has not broken capacity records for a long time. But in terms of dimensions, the novelty has become less attractive - the width of the case has increased from 74.5 mm to 76 mm, and the weight - from 149 to 155 g. Even the thickness has grown to 10 mm, which is completely indecent in our time.

Apparently, the most noticeable improvements are waiting for us in the camera. But they, like the quality of the same case with the same back cover, must be very significant in order to justify the release of a new model.

Packaging and equipment LG G4

New LG comes in a modest cardboard box.

The lid is slightly cut off. Underneath is red cardboard.

Since we have Korean equipment in front of us, we will not see detailed technical specifications on the back. Instead, only key features of the model are mentioned.

Olleh is a local mobile operator and digital content provider, like our Yandex with their Yandex.Store.

The sales sticker reminds you that this is the version for the "home" market, which is called LG-F500K. Presumably, the H815 model should enter the Russian market.

For themselves, loved ones, Koreans are trying to assemble a richer package. This was the case with the Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime, which was never officially delivered to us. What do we see?

  • Additional battery;
  • Branded stereo headset LG Quad Beat 3;
  • Autonomous battery charger;
  • Battery case (seriously).

First of all, it is worth clarifying the situation. The person who provided the device for review asked very much not to remove the factory films and not damage the packaging, so I can’t tell you more about some accessories (they have a seal). Therefore, I ask you to understand and forgive in advance.

The charger is quite typical for the manufacturer. Its body is compact and very convenient, as it does not cover a large area around it.

In this case, the output current is 1.8 A.

The stereo headset is packed in an individual box. Looks very impressive. It comes with silicone tips in two different sizes.

In terms of sound quality, it is in the segment of "about 1,500 rubles" at current prices. For undemanding users, this is enough even for listening to music, not to mention conversations.

Who does not dream of having a functional smartphone that supports the 4G/LTE standard? If there are, then most likely there will be very few of them. However, in the market of digital devices, flagships, as a rule, offer wide functionality, and for them, you will definitely have to pay a considerable amount. What about buyers who do not have that kind of money? Read this article, which will talk about some inexpensive gadgets.

The rating includes cheap smartphones with 4G, the price of which does not exceed 10,000 rubles. Surprised? Yes, there are such models. Of course, they are inferior in terms of performance and other characteristics to fancy flagships, but the difference in price fully pays for all the shortcomings.

Huawei Honor 5A

The cheapest 4G/LTE smartphone combined with decent features was presented by Huawei. The cost for it varies within 8000 rubles. Let's see if the model is worth that kind of money. The first thing you want to pay attention to is the appearance. Stylish gadget - this is what users say about it in the reviews. And it is true. The case is made of glass and metal, which cannot but rejoice.

Unfortunately, the “OS” let us down a bit - the fifth “Android” is already obsolete. But the amount of RAM, which is 2 GB, uplifts the mood. The hardware system is based on MediaTek MT6735P. A good screen and simply amazing cameras (the main one is 13 megapixels) complement the pleasant experience of interacting with the gadget. The battery, of course, is not the best (2200 mAh), but its resource is enough for one day of work.

Wileyfox Swift

Equally interesting is a cheap 4G/LTE smartphone made by Wileyfox. In addition to the fact that it supports work with new generation networks, it also has a decent "stuffing". For only 8-9 thousand rubles, the buyer will purchase a multifunctional smartphone that fully meets modern requirements. What do the reviews say? Many users focused on the good Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 chipset. Its capabilities are complemented by two gigabytes of RAM.

Also, the owners paid attention to the worthy characteristics of the screen and cameras. Separately, I would like to dwell on the main module. Its resolution is 13 megapixels, which makes it possible to take great photos. Users have no comments on receiving and transmitting a signal. Everything works stably, without failures and interruptions. The battery (2500 mAh) in this gadget is a bit short by modern standards, but it will be able to provide autonomy for a period of 20-24 hours.

Philips S326

The cheapest smartphone with 4G is also available from a manufacturer such as Philips. Model S326 is sold at an average price of 7500 rubles. The manufacturer did his best by releasing this gadget. After testing, all users were satisfied. The device works great with networks. When connected to 4G, stable operation and high speed were observed.

What else can you dream of? But as it turned out, there is something. In their reviews, users drew attention to other features of the phone. We note right away that the S326 model cannot boast of a flagship “stuffing”. The device has one gigabyte of RAM and eight built-in memory, not the most powerful Spreadtrum SC9830 processor. Camera resolution also leaves much to be desired. But there were no complaints about the screen. Here everything is quite consistent with modern requirements. The owners have identified another strong point of the device - a capacious 3 thousand mAh battery.

Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)

The cheapest smartphone with 4G is also in the line of the Korean manufacturer Samsung. Its approximate cost was 7000 rubles. We are talking about the model Galaxy J1 (2016). It is based on a pretty good proprietary Exynos 3475 processor. Compute modules (four in total) are overclocked to 1300 MHz. Complements the characteristics of the hardware platform RAM in the amount of one gigabyte. But the built-in storage is small - only 8 GB. The device is equipped with a 5ʺ AMOLED display. Resolution: 207 ppi (density), 800 × 400 px (quality).

The main camera has a good module. The pictures are of average quality and are quite consistent with the 8-megapixel resolution. The 2 MP front module can only be used for video communication. In order to save pictures, photos, music and videos, the manufacturer has implemented support for memory cards, with which you can expand the built-in storage up to 32 GB. Of the communication capabilities, it is necessary to highlight, of course, LTE and 3G. The smartphone is also equipped with GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth modules. Not the most powerful 2050 mAh battery is responsible for autonomy. The phone is based on a rather old OS - the fifth version of Android.

Owners opinion:

  • Only 4 GB of integrated memory is available, which is certainly not a virtue.
  • Weak screen resolution and cameras.
  • Expandable memory greatly increases the functionality of the gadget.
  • Picks up a signal very well.
  • Navigation modules work accurately and quickly.
  • Insufficiently powerful rechargeable battery, however, with a light load, it can provide up to 3 days of operation.
  • Outdated OS.

Sony Xperia E3

Another cheap smartphone with 4G from a well-known manufacturer. The Xperia E3 model is equipped with a good Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 (1200 MHz) chipset. The gadget has proven itself not only when working with networks, but also with "heavy" applications. Given that the phone costs about 8,000 rubles, you will have to sacrifice the camera resolution (the device has 5 megapixel and 0.3 megapixel modules), a bright original design, display characteristics (854 × 480 px resolution) and internal memory (4 GB). But according to most users, this model deserves attention. The device copes with all tasks well, has the ability to work with fourth-generation networks and is undoubtedly high-quality and reliable.

Acer Liquid E600

Taiwanese company Acer also introduced a cheap smartphone with 4G. The Liquid E600 model is based on the productive Snapdragon 400 platform. The processor clock speed is 1200 MHz, which is not bad for a budget employee. The body assembly impresses users with its high quality. And the idea that for only 7,000 rubles you can buy a stylish gadget from a famous manufacturer warms the soul.

The device boasts a beautiful 5-inch display, although according to users, the poor quality (480 × 854 px) let us down a bit. Responsible for autonomy is a 2500 mAh battery. In standby mode, the phone will work for about 250 hours. As for the cameras, the resolution of the front is critically small (0.3 MP), but the main one allows you to take quite competitive pictures using an 8 MP module.

Alcatel One Touch Pixi 4 5045D

This phone can rightfully bear the title of "the cheapest Android smartphone with 4G", unless, of course, put it in the same rating with Chinese "dummy". Its cost varies within 5 thousand rubles. What does a user get for such money besides LTE? 4 core processor running at 1000 MHz. Performance characteristics are complemented by 1 GB of RAM. Users drew attention to the small amount of native memory and low screen resolution, but if there is a need to purchase a smartphone with LTE support, and quite inexpensively, then you will have to abandon the heaped "fillings".

The owners of this phone were pleased with the cameras (5 and 8 megapixels). The pictures are of good quality, especially if you take them outdoors during the daytime. The device works with two cards of mobile operators, but you can activate 4G only on one. The owners are not very satisfied with the characteristics of the battery, which is confirmed by numerous reviews. The device uses a 2000 mAh battery, which will have to be charged every day. But the sixth version of "Android" appealed to many users. It has a simple and beautiful interface. Works smoothly without freezes and other failures.

Highscreen Easy L

A good cheap smartphone with 4G was released by Highscreen. The Chinese processor MediaTek MT6737 is responsible for its performance. It is built on four modules, each of which is capable of delivering a maximum frequency of 1250 MHz. A good level of performance is provided by the “RAM” of one gigabyte. This, of course, does not guarantee super-powerful performance, but it will be quite enough to work with light applications. The graphics are provided by the Mali-T720 MP2 accelerator.

In the reviews, users pay attention to the small amount of native memory (4 GB), but the manufacturer has provided the ability to increase it to 32 GB. Using additional storage to install applications will not work, but it can store various multimedia files, which is also pretty good.

The indisputable advantage of this model, of course, is the support for new generation networks. Also, the owners leave laudatory reviews for the screen. It is capable of transmitting HD quality, which is very pleasing, especially considering the low cost (within 7500 rubles). On this, the advantages of the device have not yet ended. Users refer to them as a capacious 3600 mAh battery. And all this "miracle" is running "Android 6".

Micromax Q465

Now it's time to consider a cheap smartphone with 4G and a good battery. The Micromax Q465 model can claim such a title. For 8-8.5 thousand rubles, the user will purchase an excellent multifunctional device with decent characteristics. And this is not an advertisement. Just look at what the owners write in the reviews. A powerful quad-core platform, as much as 2 GB (!) of RAM, integrated 16 GB, although users say that only 10 is available, but this is already impressive, an HD-quality screen, decent camera resolution and, most importantly, the battery capacity is almost 4000 mAh (3900). Isn't it worth that kind of money?

However, not everything is so rosy. Although the device is two-card, there is only one radio module, so the SIM cards will work alternately. Although a 64-bit system allows you to install all the most modern applications, the hardware platform will not be able to pull the most resource-intensive ones.

DOOGEE X5 Max Pro

Model X5 Max Pro is a cheap 4G smartphone from China. At points of sale, they ask for it from 5900 rubles. For this money, the owners will enjoy high-speed Internet (4G), a high-quality screen that transmits an image in a resolution of 1280 × 720 px. A lot of rave reviews were caused by the hardware platform, which is based on MediaTek MT6737.

Also in the gadget, the manufacturer installed two gigabytes of “RAM”. The software download storage has a size of 16 GB. It can be expanded with a memory card. Did not disappoint in this model and the battery. Its resource (4000 mAh) lasts up to two days with an average load. With networks, the smartphone works fine. The signal is stable, there are no comments to the navigation modules. In the comments, the owners assure that the capabilities of the gadget 100% justify the cost.

ZTE Blade L4 A460

Chinese brainchild Blade L4 A460 is the cheapest smartphone with 4G. Prices for it do not exceed $112. Note that in the reviews, many owners say that you can buy this phone even for $90. Potential buyers should immediately pay attention to the fact that this brand is not of high quality, therefore the cost of products is low. Unfortunately, there are a lot of negative reviews about ZTE gadgets on the Web. In them, users talk about problems such as freezes, crashes, spontaneous shutdown, etc. If this does not scare you, then let's look at the capabilities of this model.

First of all, let's pay attention to the fact that the device operates on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 210 MSM8909-4 chipset. It is under the control of the fifth version of Android. From the memory offered 1 GB (RAM) and 8 GB (built-in). Autonomy is not very long, as the smartphone uses a 2200 mAh battery. Cameras (8 and 5 megapixels) can be attributed to the advantages. The pictures come out pretty good. But the display is definitely weak - at five inches it has a resolution of only 854 × 480 px and a TFT matrix.

The fourth generation (Generation, abbreviated as 4G) of mobile communications is theoretically capable of providing high speeds with an Internet connection, but realizing this potential is very difficult. Within the framework of this standard, several data transfer technologies are used at once, and the simplest of them, in relation to the topic of our review, is LTE. The maximum speed in this case is 150 Mbit / s per reception (or DL), but its achievement assumes ideal conditions: packets are exchanged in a frequency band of 20 MHz, a completely “free” cell and a high signal level.

How to choose the best smartphone with 4g

When choosing a smartphone with 4g, the most unobvious problem for users is that operators are often forced to use narrower channels (up to 5 MHz) and this depends on the “working” range. Let's clarify that B20 (800 MHz), B3 (1800 MHz) and B7 (2600 MHz) are supported in Russian 4G networks. The B38 (2600 MHz) range is still less common, and the B31 (450 MHz) and B40 (2300 MHz) are quite exotic.

The second problem with high-speed communications is that all these frequencies are distributed in bands, and rather thoughtlessly, and each operator has different "kits" for organizing 4G in different regions, often incomplete. In addition, recall that there is a direct relationship between the wavelength and the range of signal propagation. In other words, base stations for the B20 range will require significantly less than for B7. And which option in the "outback" will the provider choose?

For residents of large administrative centers and territories adjacent to them, everything is not so sad. Moreover, the main operators “work” on several bands at once, and here it is already appropriate to recall the second technology that can use them simultaneously (perform frequency aggregation). It is called LTE-A (Advanced), and in this case, a plus is sometimes added to 4G. The current version of the standard allows five bands to be combined, but even then things are complicated.

Firstly, the telecom operator needs to have a suitable "set" of frequencies, and they are far from all compatible with each other. Secondly, the corresponding re-equipment of base stations is required. Thirdly, a smartphone as a user terminal must not only support LTE-A technology, as well as all the involved bands, but also be in the zone of reliable reception in relation to each of them.

As for operators, so far only MegaFon and MTS declare the aggregation of three frequency bands. And not even everywhere. Parallel use of two lanes is much more common, and high-speed Internet is already available in a number of regional / regional centers. Actually, this is precisely the reason for the selection criteria for most smartphones with 4g for our rating: LTE and LTE-A 2CA (this is how devices capable of aggregating two carrier frequencies are designated - 2 Carrier Aggregation).

The categories given in the descriptions of smartphones also provide the necessary information. In our case, these are Cat.4 and Cat.6, which are optimal for Russia. Of course, reviews of expensive models even promise gigabit 4G speeds, and this is never a hoax. You just need to understand that in order to achieve them, the appropriate conditions are necessary. Let's say the correct operator and being within the Garden Ring. And that doesn't always work. By the way, the older categories imply the presence of complex antenna paths in smartphones. In the specifications, this fact can be referred to as MIMO with a couple of numbers in front. The latter indicate the number of antenna groups and the more there are, the higher the maximum speed.

Finally, another technology is called VoLTE and is designed to make voice calls through a specially created Internet channel. You correctly thought that it is still sadder here, but the light at the end of the tunnel is already visible. At least at the level of Moscow and the region, MegaFon has launched such a service, and from the beginning of 2018 it is planned to deploy it in the regions. There is information that MTS is also preparing to introduce VoLTE in 2018. The sad thing is that smartphone manufacturers must add the necessary settings to the firmware of each supported model for all interested telecom operators. MegaFon turned out to be the most interested in us, therefore the corresponding category of the review of the best smartphones with 4g is represented by devices compatible with the VoLTE version of this particular company.
