Smartphone xperia z5 premium black. Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

The port for connecting the docking station on the left side face was removed. Due to the lack of a plug on the microUSB connector, it has become irrelevant. The only plug on the case hides the tray with a SIM card and a memory card and looks quite reliable. So it will not fall off the way it happened on the Xperia Z2 and even Z3.

Smart phone - smart screen

The screen of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium turned out to be surprisingly mysterious. In 4K mode, it does not always work, but only in some cases. Namely, when playing videos and viewing photos through built-in applications, as well as on YouTube and Netflix. On the desktop, in all submenus, in games, social networking applications and in the browser, the display displays a picture in a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels. Sony's argument sounds quite convincing: in this way, it is possible to optimize power consumption, besides, Android Lollipop does not know how to work with such displays. An upcoming update should fix this, but Sony has yet to say anything about new ways to use 4K. There is no section in the settings that allows you to force enable UHD mode, and it is not known if it will appear in the future.

The device is the advantage of the entire Z5 line. He looks really chic. The back of the smartphone is glass, it is made in such a way that you can really use the z5 premium as a mirror. The smartphone comes in several colors, the most beautiful, most likely, is gold, and there are also black and silver. Note that they are as easily soiled as real glass. The frame around the case is made exactly in the color of the back, so the smartphone is entirely the same color. By the way, this frame is made of stainless steel. That's premium for you. Z5, by the way, has an aluminum frame, and the younger brother in this series has a polymer edging. The smartphone is protected, like the whole series, from water and dust (ip65/ip68). The gadget has a fingerprint scanner. It is located in place of the power button. Unusually, because we are accustomed to placing it either behind or in front. Here Sony stood out and did not abandon its corporate identity.

Shell

The smartphone has its own simple shell, which we are used to seeing in Sony smartphones. Android version here is 5.1. There are no quirks, except for support for a fingerprint scanner. The shell is simple, not heavily loaded, so it does not cause problems and disgust during operation.

Specifications

  • CPU

    Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (8 cores (4x1.5 GHz and 4x2 GHz))

  • video processor

I surprised the smartphone with the fact that the filling is absolutely the same as in the flagship of the previous generation. Although why be surprised when Sony churns out flagships faster than Qualcomm processors? Although the screen has an incredible resolution, the processor handles the processing of the picture and the interface works smoothly. In terms of optimization, it is clear that Sony did a good job, for which we thank them.

Memory

Sufficiently large amount of memory in the smartphone - 32 GB. If you don't have enough, the microSD slot supports cards up to 200 GB. This is great, otherwise how else to watch 4k video? The RAM in the smartphone is 3 GB.

Connection

The device supports only one SIM card, although they promised that there would be a dual version. There is nothing special to say about wireless networks, the smartphone supports them all. There is no infrared port.

The world's first smartphone with a 4K Ultra HD screen was the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium. A slightly updated design of this "metal-and-glass" flagship is accompanied by an integrated fingerprint scanner, as well as a main camera with fast autofocus. All the pros and cons of the novelty were appreciated by Vesti.Hi-tech

The Xperia Z5 Premium plays the first violin in the trio of flagship models presented at IFA 2015 in Berlin by Sony. The most significant difference between this smartphone and the "regular" Xperia Z5 (our review of which) is the 4K Ultra HD screen (resolution of 3840x2160 pixels), which debuted for the first time on a 5.5-inch device. Other differences seem to be not so fundamental and relate, in particular, to the size of the display diagonal, battery capacity and design of the device. By the way, the premium flagship Xperia Z5 Premium, as well as its "regular" counterpart, is available in modifications not only with one (model E6853), but also with two SIM-cards (models E6833 and E6883).

Design, ergonomics

As the name suggests, the Xperia Z5 Premium is the crème de la crème of the flagship trio presented at IFA 2015. But in this model, Sony has remained true to its concept of a strict glass "sandwich" with a metal frame around the perimeter. In fairness, we note that the "metal-glass" trend set by this company is increasingly seen in products from other well-known manufacturers. At the same time, for example, in Samsung devices they managed to "revive" it in their own way, by bending the front () or back panel of the case ().

The front camera parameters remained unchanged: a 5-megapixel Exmor R back-illuminated sensor and a wide-angle G Lens with 25 mm EGF. The maximum resolution with a classic aspect ratio (4:3) reaches 2592x1944 pixels.

Both cameras can shoot Full HD videos, while the main camera provides frame rates of both 30 fps and 60 fps. For obvious reasons, in Xperia Z5 Premium, the most demanded, compared to other smartphones, is the ability to shoot in 4K resolution (3840x2160 pixels) @ 30 fps. Indeed, in the same quality, the videos can be immediately played on the screen of the device. For the Timeshift video application, the frame rate reaches 120 fps, so it is easy to slow down the playback of an HD image (1280x720 pixels) by 4 times. All content is stored in MP4 container files (AVC - video, AAC - sound).

It is worth noting that during testing, the design of the interface of the branded application "Camera" was updated. It has become more "transparent", "flat" and, perhaps, less clumsy.

According to the manufacturer, the studio sound of MP3 or AAC files is one of the features of the Xperia Z5 Premium. The fact is that DSEE (Digital Sound Enhancement Engine) HX technology tries to restore cutoff frequencies when listening to, for example, MP3 files with a low bitrate. In turn, music lovers can appreciate Hi-Res Audio sound quality and digital noise reduction technology. Recall that the LDAC (Lossless Digital Audio Coding) codec allows you to broadcast Hi-Res tracks via Bluetooth to a wireless LDAC-compatible headset.

You can rely on the ClearAudio+ function to automatically optimize your audio settings. Manually for such settings is the built-in equalizer with presets and bass control. For headphones, there is a surround sound option (concert hall, club, studio), as well as automatic optimization functions AHC (Automatic Headset Compensation) and realistic playback settings (S Force Front Surround). But to equalize the volume of different songs or videos, you can turn on a dynamic normalizer. The built-in FM tuner with RDS support only works when a wired headset is connected, which is needed as a shortwave antenna.

Filling, performance

Under the hood, the Xperia Z5 Premium has the same hot Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 (MSM8994) processor.

Recall that the ARM big.LITTLE GTS architecture combines eight 64-bit cores, while four energy-efficient ARM Cortex-A53 cores (1.5 GHz) are supplemented by a quartet of more powerful ARM Cortex-A57 (2.0 GHz). The Adreno 430 (650 MHz) accelerator with support for OpenGL ES 3.1 was implemented to support graphics operations on a chip made to 20 nm design standards. The base platform is also complemented by 3 GB of RAM (LPDDR4, 1600 MHz). The same filling was reflected in the test results.

On synthetic tests AnTuTu Benchmark

and Vellamo benchmarks, the premium flagship also found itself in the group of leaders, losing, in particular, to the Exynos 7 Octa 7420 equipped with a more productive crystal.

With variable High Performance and High Quality settings, the average frame rate on the Epic Citadel visual test changed at the level of random measurement error - 60.0 fps and 59.7 fps, respectively. And for the Ultra High Quality setting, this parameter, in accordance with the increase in quality, dropped to 55.2 fps. Note, however, that we are not talking about 4K Ultra HD resolution at all, but only about 1800x1080 pixels.

On the 3DMark universal gaming benchmark in the recommended tests Sling Shot (ES 3.1), the new flagship showed a result of 1,144.

The total number of points earned by the Xperia Z5 Premium on the Base Mark OS II cross-platform benchmark was 1,309.

When you first turned on the device, out of 32 GB of internal memory, approximately 22.5 GB was available, and about 19.9 GB was free. To expand this storage, there is a slot designed for microSD / HC / XC memory cards up to 200 GB. Thanks to the support of USB-OTG technology, you can also connect a regular USB flash drive to the device. Recall that now the automatic detection of a USB connection has been preserved only for the PC and the charger. All other USB devices, including USB drives, require manual intervention (in the "Quick Settings", the "Detect USB device" option should be activated).

In the E6853 model, voice communication and mobile Internet functions are assigned to one subscriber identification module in nanoSIM (4FF) format with support for fast 4G networks - LTE Advanced (Cat.6, 300 Mbps). As for other wireless communications, along with 2-band Wi-Fi 802.11 a / b / g / n / ac (2.4 and 5 GHz), the flagship supports, among other things, ANT +, Bluetooth 4.1, DLNA interfaces and NFC.

The built-in multi-system receiver uses GPS and GLONASS constellation satellites for positioning and navigation, as confirmed by the results of the AndroiTS GPS Test program. There is also built-in support for A-GPS technology.

The non-removable lithium-polymer battery of the Xperia Z5 Premium, in comparison with, has “recovered” a little - its capacity was 3,430 mAh versus 2,900 mAh. The extra battery life is certainly due to the 4K Ultra HD screen resolution.

The Qualcomm Quick Charge 2.0 UCH10 (5/9/12V) fast charging adapter allows you to charge your smartphone 40% faster. According to the manufacturer, in 45 minutes it fills the battery so that it is enough to run the Xperia Z5 Premium for a whole day. For the test, we got a sample of a smartphone without a charger at all, so we could not verify this statement.

On tests AnTuTu Tester, the novelty earned 6,884 points. Just like for, the manufacturer quite optimistically promises the premium version of the smartphone to work for two days without recharging. At the same time, when the battery is 100% full, you can watch HD video for 10 hours, and listen to music for almost 7 days (160 hours). In practice, videos (trailers for Skyfall and Elysium movies) in MP4 and 4K Ultra HD quality at full brightness played continuously for about 6 hours.

If two days on a single charge is not enough, Sony offers to use proprietary power saving modes. So, for example, Stamina allows you to limit performance, disable background processes during inactivity, and also set a list of applications that are allowed to access the network. In turn, Ultra Stamina, leaving only the basic functions of the phone enabled (voice calls and SMS), prolongs autonomy even more significantly. But the option "Low battery mode" is activated at a predetermined level of battery filling (for example, 20%). In this case, power consumption is reduced, for example, by disabling wireless modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS), reducing screen timeout, lowering the backlight level, etc.

Software Features

Well, and, probably, it is not at all surprising that the premium flagship also runs on the Android 5.1.1 operating system, on which the proprietary Xperia shell is stretched.

Everything is as usual here (themes, backgrounds, branded widgets and applications), so once again pay attention to the "Detect USB device" option in the "Quick Settings". It may well be needed, for example, when connecting additional storage to a smartphone.

High security access to stored data can be provided by an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner built into the power / lock button, which allows, in particular, to quickly unlock the smartphone.

Purchase, conclusions

Among the advantages of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium, it should be noted a convenient fingerprint scanner, a very fast autofocus of the main camera, advanced sound options, as well as reliable protection against water and dust (IP65/IP68). Actually, the key difference between the premium version and the "regular" one is the 4K Ultra HD screen. At the same time, the recommended price at the start of sales for the Xperia Z5 Premiuim (with one SIM card) and Xperia Z5 Premiuim Dual (with two SIM cards) models is 58,990 and 59,990 rubles, respectively. Recall that for the Xperia Z5 and Xperia Z5 Dual they ask for only 49,990 rubles. Thus, the ability to view 4K Ultra HD content on a smartphone will cost, in fact, 10 thousand rubles. In addition, it is worth recalling that the rear panel of the premium flagship turned out to be too brand, and the main camera did not receive optical stabilization.

The results of the review of the smartphone Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

Pros:

  • World's first 4K Ultra HD screen
  • Convenient fingerprint scanner
  • Very fast camera autofocus
  • Advanced audio options
  • Reliable protection against water and dust

Minuses:

  • High price
  • Marked rear panel
  • Lack of optical stabilization for the main camera

Xperia Z5 Premium. Moreover, the device is distinguished not only by the largest dimensions, but also by the presence of the most advanced technologies among its neighbors in the line:
- there is a huge 4K display;
- "frame" made of stainless steel;
- will appreciate a very unusual design, in particular, the silver version;
- all the standard advantages of the Z5 models come as a bonus.

Design and construction features

The very first and most important thing to know about this model is that it is a bulky and rather heavy phablet. Its weight is approximately 180 grams. The bottom line is that not standard aluminum was used here, but smooth stainless steel. The latter differs in its color scheme depending on the configuration of the device. It should be noted that the Z5 and the Z5 Compact model are perfectly suited for optimal daily use, as there are absolutely no fingerprints on the frosted glass. However, the Premium is similar in appearance to the iPod Touch, in which the back surface instantly loses its luster after the first touch of the hand. In this case, there is a similar problem, so neat people can not do without the constant wearing of a special napkin. Sales launch starts in November. We will be able to see 3 new versions of the smartphone at once:
- silver color;
-black;
-and with a gold case.

Ladies will definitely like gold and silver devices. It is not clear why the designers came up with such a color scheme, because there were really successful designs in the history of the Z5. Probably, the manufacturers tried in this way to distinguish the model from the general line. In the end, it turned out to be completely impractical!

On the right, there is a button with a fingerprint sensor. The rest of the controls are the same as usual:
- in the presence of an elegant rocker to adjust the volume;
- key to call the camera;
All physical keys are made of metal. Under the rubber plug are:
- slot for nanoSIM;
- slot for microSD.
A model with 2 SIM cards will also be released.

The device has the same water resistance standard as other models in the Z5 line. It will calmly withstand falling under a downpour, but it is better not to drop it. The smartphone has the same corners as in the whole family. During a fall, they can take a hit on themselves, preventing the energy from spreading throughout the body. The build is great and no complaints.

When visually inspecting the model, special emotions do not arise. What can not be said, for example, about the emotions from the appearance of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus. In the latter case, it is difficult for a person to do without the word "wow" and an unbearable desire to twist the gadget in his hands. From this point of view, the Premium design is perceived much more calmly, few people draw their eyes and hands to it, even the mention of a 4K display does not change the situation. How good or bad it is is up to the future owner to decide.

At the bottom is a connector for microUSB without a plug.

Display specifications

The key feature of the presented smartphone, of course, is the display. Sony developers are confident that 4K content has a great future, moreover, they dream of being ahead of the whole world. That's all that can be said about this format. So, the 4K IPS display of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium has the following characteristics:
- the presence of a diagonal of 5.5 inches;
- resolution 3840 by 2160 pixels and 807ppi;
- Supports some proprietary features and technologies such as TRILUMINOS and X-Reality Engine...

On the official website, you can also find the following characteristics:

1. X-Reality Engine for smartphones can analyze every image on the display and automatically optimize its parameters such as color, sharpness and contrast. As a result, the user receives photos and videos with the maximum level of detail and with a minimum of digital noise.
2. TRILUMINOS Display technology combined with Live Color LED technology guarantees the maximum color gamut of rich reds, natural greens and blues.

Brand developers claim that content, software, photos and videos can be scaled to screen resolution. It remains only to wait and see how it will look like in reality. At the moment, the prototypes are equipped with only basic software, which is not the best option for testing. Sites look good, but how things are going with the video can only be found in the review.

The smartphone will go on sale in November this year. Honestly, I would like to give more advantages of the screen, but this is problematic, since Sony manufacturers, as in the case of 3D, are going in the wrong direction. Let's remember how this company inserted 3D technology everywhere and everywhere, starting from primitive soap dishes and ending with laptops. Yes, there were also such beloved VAIOs. But where are all these innovations now? Of course, a high-resolution display is great, but not everyone is willing to pay for such an "exotic", but time will tell.

The fingerprint scanner

Previously, the scanner was tested on prototypes. Now let's see how this happens here. The "Security" menu contains a special section in which you can bind up to 5 fingerprints to the touch panel. The process is very simple:
- you need to put your finger a couple of times until the scale is filled, as in other devices;
- after you need to specify what the sensor should do;
- start using.

This is a useful technology, as in a fraction of seconds you can unlock the device and be on the desktop. Without graphic keys and other chips, you can ensure a high level of security. I note that you do not even need to press the button, you just need to put your finger on it. Errors in operation are practically excluded.

All Sony flagship models are equipped with a similar scanner, so this article is suitable for owners of the following gadgets:
-Sony Xperia Z5;
-Sony Xperia Z5 Compact;
-Sony Xperia Z5 Premium.

It should be noted that the placement of the sensor directly in the button is very logical. The finger is placed here simply because of the convenience, the settings are very simple, and the operation is flawless. If you do not like the fingerprint scanner, then you can use the standard password. But in the latter case, you will have to constantly waste time before each use of the smartphone.

Specifications of Sony Xperia Z5 Premium cameras

The base camera with 23 MP has an Exmor RS module, and the front camera with 5 MP is equipped with wide-angle optics, necessary for creating selfies. Also about the camera there is also such news:
1. Regarding Sony Xperia M5 cameras, we can say that the model is completely user-oriented. Everyone wants to get good shots in low light, while using the zoom, and all this is combined with fast autofocus. It's all taken into account here!
2. Let's start with autofocus. The documentation for the model states that it takes a minimum of 0.1 seconds to focus. The manufacturer's website claims that the cameras in their devices are in the safe hands of the same people who develop various systems for Alpha devices.
3. It was also announced the presence of a five-fold zoom, the use of which does not affect the quality of the frames.
4. It is indicated that the device has the ability to shoot videos in 4K.

There are also all the standard modes for Sony, for example, augmented reality. Most of them can be installed from the Play Market. By the way, in reality, autofocus really works very quickly. We can mention another interesting innovation: the ability to shoot in intelligent auto mode with a resolution of 20 megapixels and an aspect ratio of 16:9. Previously, such shooting was available only with 8 megapixels in a ratio of 16:9.

Performance options

A processor called . This is a rather "warm" innovation, but more on that in the review. Moreover, there are rumors that the overheating of the processor is still eliminated.

Other performance characteristics include:

- 3 GB OP and 32 GB internal memory;
- the presence of a slot for microSD;
- support for LTE technology;
- the graphics are in the virtual hands of Adreno 430;
- presence of Bluetooth 4.1...

Key features of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium

Let's talk a little more about the features of the presented device:
1.There is the possibility of an alliance with PS4. Xperia can be used as a screen to which you can easily connect a joystick to play. But the "compact" diagonal is not the best idea for gaming entertainment.
2. It is possible to use old accessories, that is, devices from other models of the Z line. You can use an old headset and microphone - they work with a bang.
3. A new headset is introduced that has noise reduction. There are also built-in microphones that can be used when recording video. The innovation is presented only for the Z5 family.
4. The smartphone will please you with the absence of pre-installed garbage.

Runtime Z5 Premium

A 3430 mAh battery is responsible for this parameter, which supports the 2.0 operational charging technology. Theoretically, this smartphone can work up to 2 days, depending on the intensity of the load. Also, the model is equipped with another power supply that does not support this very QuickCharge technology.

findings

- the presence of a stylish and not flashy design;
- excellent assembly and high-quality materials;
- the most non-staining phone - gold;
- 4K display is a great option for active content consumers and gamers, but the smartphone does not pull on the title of a phablet;
- good camera performance;
- excellent processor;
- models with support for multiple SIM cards and LTE have been developed;
- There is a fingerprint reader...
