10 finger set. Overview of keyboard simulators for teaching touch typing

Keyboard simulator- this computer program, or online service designed to teach or improve touch typing skills. Improving the touch typing skill is an increase in typing speed, a decrease in the number of typing errors.

Blind typing or blind ten-finger typing is a quick typing on the keyboard with all ten fingers without looking at the keyboard. The blind ten-finger method has been invented for over 120 years in America.. Using touch printing, you can achieve print speeds up to 1000 characters per minute! This is of course a super-record speed, but there is no limit to perfection!
Touch typing can be learned by anyone. For this, keyboard simulators have been developed to which our site is dedicated.

Keyboard trainer? And which one to choose? This question is faced by many users who want to learn high-speed, error-free touch typing. • If you are reading this text, then you are either my regular reader (haha), or, more likely, you want to learn the method of touch typing on the keyboard yourself. Well, I'm fine with both options. Let me tell you something in secret: I'm not going to teach you touch typing, BUT… WAIT, don't leave! I'll give you some tips and you can learn for yourself if you want to!

So, this topic will be small, but please read it to the end and in the end you will understand everything.
It all started yesterday, that is, November 28, 12. I was at work (yes, I'm a C # programmer, if anyone is interested), and since, apart from the deadlines, there is practically no control over me, then in my free time I need to do something with myself. I didn’t want to write posts on the site and even the 5th lesson in the html textbook, and I remembered my long-standing goal (note that I avoid the word “dream” and always try to replace it with the wonderful word “goal”, because the meaning is radically different!) - to learn type without looking at the keyboard, that is, blindly, as they say.

Well, it's been said, it's done. I began to search, because there should be something useful in this regard on the Internet. And what do you think? Yes, I came across a couple of miracle techniques, of course, paid ones. One was called "keyboard solo" in my opinion, but I'll tell you, it's such nonsense, you'll forgive me. Free initial lessons were reduced to typing one or two letters, that is, you sit and poke at the same letter 100 times. Well, what is it? And everything else, that is, normal training with words, is paid, or one lesson a day is free. Yes, you roll with sausage, I thought, and went to look further.

Almost all the manuals were Huge. Tons of text, and tasks, again, boiled down to looping on one, maximum three letters. Well, things are not done the same way, comrades. And then I understood. In this case, there will be no freebies. None of the techniques work. Understand this and you, the sooner the better. But how is it? - you ask and it will be a perfectly reasonable question. And so: you can learn to type blindly only with the help of muscle memory plus the subconscious! Exactly! You need to practice and practice day by day for about a week for 20-30 minutes a day. Again, don't be in a hurry to leave! I suggest you follow me to see if I can master this method or not. If I can, then you can too, otherwise ... and no other way, I can and that's it!

What do I offer you? Follow my experiment on myself as I learn. I did not buy courses, did not download programs, and I do not advise you. All you need is a trainer. You can write it yourself, if not too lazy, or you can use the site klava.org. This is by no means an advertisement, otherwise you never know, look who is in the subject, he will understand, even the nofollow link is closed!
So, before we start practicing, let's just analyze key points! This is the basics, not at all complicated, but if you understand, then learning will be a joy!

    • We look at the keyboard, we see serifs on the Russian letters "a" and "o". We rejoice, we remember.
    • We put 4 fingers of the left hand on the letters "FYVA", and the fingers right hand at OLJ. We remember the position of the hands.
    • We look at the picture below and realize which fingers are responsible for which letters. DON'T get scared! You don't have to memorize everything at once! At the beginning, I only remembered that FYVA and OLJ were confused! Everything will come with experience, very quickly.

Here is the picture, just look at it, understand the logic and that's enough. There is no point in learning.

Here the logic is simple. different colors different fingers are marked. Accordingly, if you place your hands as I taught you a little higher, you will understand which fingers which color belongs to. I, unlike the vast majority of bloggers, believe that my readers are not fools and will be able to compare what's what.
Well, that's all, you don't need anything else, just practice, practice and more practice!

Diary of my success in print

And also follow the progress of my experiment, I will update the post every day or every other day, so bookmark the page, and also subscribe to new articles in the form on the top right, where you need to enter.

Day 1. 28.11.12 . Boring, I don’t feel like writing a textbook, but messing around, reading habr or 9gag is also not an option. You need to keep yourself busy with something useful. ABOUT! Print blindly, as I have long wanted. Seeking. Nothing useful. I found a couple of techniques, poked the same letter 20 times, I didn’t see the point, but I realized that it didn’t roll, I needed to practice in words. I found a simulator, I will practice on it. It's been 15 minutes, I feel like a grandmother seeing a computer for the first time, although maybe I'm typing even slower now. 25 minutes… tired, enough for today.

Day 2 29.11.12 . Job done for today. I remembered about printing, I need to continue, I even began to receive some kind of elusive pleasure. I remember the arrangement of some letters from yesterday. I noticed that the main load falls on the index fingers and the little finger of the right hand. I begin to understand that the letters are located on the keyboard not just like that, but in the mind, the most popular are the closest. The typing speed has grown a little, I'm already much less mistaken. I wonder if I will overtake the grandmothers in speed now ...

Day 3 30.11.12 . From the very morning, as he came, he immediately decided to practice. During the night, the knowledge in my head was structured, my fingers were already asking for the keyboard :) I found out that the site can calculate the typing speed and the number of errors. It also has a timer that is set to 15 minutes by default. So I rattled those 15 minutes. Made 4% errors, typing speed was 55 characters per minute.
After lunch, I decided to practice some more, but the more you get, the more you want to improve your skills! I picked up words, errors became 1%, and then these were accumulated misses. The speed has increased to 65 characters per minute. I consider this a good result for the third day of training. I also practiced a little on Skype when texting, I decided that now I’ll only write on Skype at work, though my friends are mad that I’m slow now: D I don’t have a desire to look at the keyboard when typing and haven’t had it since the first day, but my friend says that it was precisely with this that he had problems, saying that he strove to peep all the time. But I don’t know, I don’t have this, because on the contrary I want to learn blindly, so why peep and cheat. By the way, a friend of this has a typing speed of more than 400 characters per minute, he blindly spits with might and main. I will strive to beat his record, there will be an incentive :)

Day 6 03.12.12 . It's already December, winter. Days 4 and 5 fell out as there was no practice over the weekend. This only proves my theory that I won’t be able to learn touch typing at home, as there are always “more important” things to do. So I'm better off at work somehow. So, today is just Monday and I sat down at the keyboard with renewed vigor. Turned out in total 25 minutes to practice. My fingers are already reflexively jumping over the keys, but sometimes I miss. And sometimes it happens the other way around - I fall into a stupor and I can’t remember where I am desired letter. Thus, through painful training, today I got to a speed of 75 characters per minute. Error about 1%. Tested the Speed chip. I liked it, but only there the pointer speed is set to 200 characters per minute and does not change. Naturally, I don’t keep up with him, and when I start to hurry, I generally get lost and start to mow. In general, I made a note in my head that the function is good, I will return to it when there are about 150 characters per minute, just to reach 200, and there will already be comfortable work and practice will be directly at work - on Skype, by mail, when writing articles and so on. In general, I look forward to when the muscle memory is strengthened stronger.

Day 14 11.12.12 . For a long time I did not write about my achievements, since there was not much reason. But today I finally overcame the bar of 100 characters per minute, so I consider this experiment over. At work on Skype, I correspond exclusively blindly, so the skill grows by itself. Do not be afraid to start, the main thing is discipline and everything will work out! Good luck with touch typing ;)

Have you mastered the touch typing method? If yes, was it difficult for you? And if not, then join my experiment!

In the 21st century, most information is online., most businesses are built over the Internet, and most books, articles, publications, essays and documents are printed on a computer. This applies to absolutely everything - from legal documents to works of art. Microsoft document Office Word is very convenient as it can be sent via e-mail, attach to Google drive or save to a USB flash drive, as well as convert to pft.

How to convert a file from Word to PDF and vice versa, you can see in the article:

Thanks to the proofreaders of stylistic and grammatical errors printing documents and books has become not only convenient and fast, but also more competent. Therefore, today many freelancers want to learn how to learn how to quickly type on the keyboard. Many journalists and copywriters literally compete with each other in such an aspect as typing speed.

How to learn touch typing? Is it possible?

Indeed, a lot depends on it. Typing speed affects the efficiency and success of a freelancer, the number of characters that can be printed per hour, and, of course, the salary and length of the working day.

Such nuances as the quality of the article and literacy are no less important factors that determine the success of a copywriter. However, if these two points are adjusted, it's time to seriously think about the speed of printing.

Today it is as popular as speed typing courses were in the past.

So, we are learning to type quickly on the keyboard using the blind ten-finger typing method. First of all, you need to print out a diagram that shows which finger "responsible" for which key. Put the sheet in front of the keyboard. You just need to unlearn how to press the keys with the wrong fingers. This is the essence of the method.

Its effectiveness lies in its extreme simplicity. You no longer need to memorize anything and constantly practice typing complex sentences at speed, gradually going crazy. At the same time, you can look at the keyboard, this is not prohibited. Moreover, there is no need to waste time on complex exercises. Just type articles as you always do, but with this pattern in mind, and after a while you will learn how to type blindly. You just have to learn how to press the keys with the appropriate fingers.

At first, the print speed will be, on the contrary, slower. Main on initial stage - this is not speed, but the consolidation of a new skill. When it has been worked out to the level of the spinal reflex, you can increase the speed and not look at the keyboard at all. If you have to type a lot every day, then the skill will develop in a few days, a maximum of two weeks. And then you simply cannot print in any other way - only blindly and only quickly!

Below is a correspondence diagram and a diagram of the arrangement of hands above the keyboard.

However, this scheme has one drawback - slip the left little finger under ring finger very inconvenient, so there is an improved scheme below.

An important aspect is the impact technique when printing. Touch typing is very easy if you master the skill of hitting the keys correctly with your fingers. Few even pay attention to how exactly to press - with fingertips or other parts of them. In fact, it is important to use the entire hand, not just the balls of the fingers. The blows should be sharp and jerky, and from time to time the fingers should return to their original position. Rhythm also plays an important role.

If the typing goes rhythmically (when pressing each button goes through the same period of time), then the overall speed of typing also increases. If you type certain characters faster and others slower, it will not help you master touch typing at all. Rhythm is always more important. To make it easier for yourself, use the metronome provided in some Internet programs and touch typing simulators.

Free online training services for quick typing

So, how to learn to type quickly on the keyboard? Let's take a look at some of the main online programs that provide typing training on the keyboard:

    1. Stamina;
    2. VerseQ online;
    3. All 10;
    4. time speed.

And now about each in order.

Stamina provides the program, which shows you how to learn touch typing step by step. The first step includes 46 lessons, the second - practical exercises to reinforce typing skills (lessons 47-140). The third part is a task for writing texts on various topics. And not just training sentences and phrases. The fourth step is writing jokes and other jokes (lessons 141-149).

Finally, the last lesson (150th) is an exam. In each lesson, the volume limit is 900 characters, so you will not stop. Even if you type at the speed of a turtle (60 characters per minute, for example), one lesson will take 10-15 minutes maximum. Each lesson begins with phrases. Which are often found when writing texts. Next, comes the text, where each word corresponds to a certain character. A simple example: lesson "A" will contain words with this letter. The second part includes full-fledged sentences with basic grammatical forms, and the sentences themselves do not have any special meaning.

Has several unique moments. So, learning begins with all the letters of the alphabet at once, and also includes memorizing the “chords” of the keys with the fingers, which are characteristic of this particular language. The learning itself takes place imperceptibly, the program itself adjusts to the individual mistakes of each student. An additional plus is the use of a differential approach to the training time of frequently and rarely occurring characters. The very work with this program is psychologically relaxing and makes learning to type on the keyboard more enjoyable.

    VerseQ online program (certificate)

"All 10"- a typing simulator with many advantages. For example, there are Russian and English keyboard layouts here, you can continue learning exactly from the moment you left off last time. There is an option to compete in typing with other users online. After completing the training courses, you will receive a certificate of typing speed and typing quality.

Time Speed is dedicated to the ten-finger typing method. There are statistics on the growth of printing speed.

Where can I check the typing speed online?

If you are gradually mastering keyboard simulators and learning to type blindly, you can always check your typing speed online. To do this, we advise you to pay attention to a very effective and popular resource - "Bombina2". By regularly testing the touch typing method for speed, you will quickly learn to touch typing.

So, "Bombina2" is a way to check the speed of printing online, which simply has no equal. This application was created for schoolchildren, as well as children. preschool age who need a very easy to use and simple touch typing trainer.

However, it is immediately worth noting that not all places the interface is intuitive. Some navigation elements are not very convenient, the "Start" button at the beginning of the exercises is very faded, you have to look for it. Not everyone will understand that the rag icon is “Exit”.

The simulator provides detailed help, which is called on the start screen of the application. The first introductory lesson explains which fingers to type on which keys. Next come the difficulty levels that affect the number of errors in the exercises. The transition from one level to another can be done automatically, but it is possible only after completing the exercise three times in a row with a good score.

Additional bonus - logic game used to teach children. The learning process is very exciting, which is especially important for children.

    Conclusion

Nowadays, such a skill as the ability to quickly type text on the keyboard is highly valued. Of course, the literacy and meaning of the articles themselves should never go by the wayside, and they are the main priority for a copywriter or freelancer. But if you are an experienced copywriter and know how to write captivating texts and articles without errors, think about how to learn how to quickly type on the keyboard.

Touch typing is a way to efficiently type with ten fingers without looking at the keyboard.

    What for?

Blind typing allows you not to think about the typing process and focus on the text and your thoughts. Also:

    • Good Technique Reduces Mistakes
    • With experience, the speed of typing will increase
    • If necessary, new alphabets are easy enough to learn

    How it works?

The blind set includes several important components:

    Hand position

The protruding stripes on the F and J keys are special marks showing the place for the index fingers at rest.

Hand positioning is the first step in blind typing practice.

    Kit

In touch typing, each finger has its own zone on the keyboard. Only the corresponding finger can press the keys of its zone. This is a particularly difficult limitation for those who are already typing constantly and actively, as it requires a person to change their habits.

Unfortunately, standard keyboards are designed in such a way that a lot of stress falls on the little fingers, especially on the right little finger of programmers. On ergonomic keyboards, the control keys are often placed under the thumbs, as they are underloaded and, in general, are stronger and more agile than the little fingers.

    alternation

The most efficient blind typing occurs when the fingers are constantly alternating. Try to check it out yourself. Type the word “dad” with the index finger of your left hand (these letters are in his zone), and then the word “gaga” (the index fingers of both hands).

Most of the layouts were designed with this factor in mind, for example, the YZUKEN layout. But QWERTY was created too long ago, when you had to take into account other factors (for example, sticky keys), and this was reflected in efficiency. Therefore, alternative layouts have been created, such as DVORAK and Colemak. Here is what Wikipedia says about the latter:

    • Speed. Faster than QWERTY and somewhat faster than Dvorak, since Colemak has less pressure on the little fingers and more hand alternation.
    • Ergonomics. 10 most common letters in English and the Backspace key are located on the second (home) row of the keyboard. In Colemak, the home row is used on average 3% more often than in the Dvorak layout, and 40% more often than in QWERTY. This results in less finger movement when printing on Colemak than when printing on QWERTY.

But alternation is not only a layout, but also a technique. The spacebar lies immediately below the two thumbs, which means we have a choice of finger to press. In touch typing, the space must be pressed with the thumb of the hand that was not involved in pressing the previous character. For example, if we type the word “code”, then the space after it is pressed with the left hand, if the word is “mine”, then with the right.

    How to learn?

You can do it yourself, just follow the rules above. But with a high degree of probability, the percentage of errors during typing will be high, both during the learning process and after. Specialized services help you learn to type with a minimum number of errors. There are many similar services, and you should find them on Google and try different variants(Readers share links in the comments below).

The main obstacle is not so much the lack of time for training, but the work associated with typing. Since in this case, for fast printing, you have to do it in the usual way. The main thing, after some practice on simulators, is to force yourself to completely abandon typing in the old way and press the keys only with those fingers that blind typing requires. And it’s completely normal if you peek at the keyboard. The technique isn't about not looking, it's about navigating the keyboard correctly. Over time, the need to watch will disappear. And yes, the speed will drop catastrophically, but don’t worry, it will recover very quickly, in a couple of weeks you will probably catch up with your former self, and then start moving forward.

How much time will it take?

It depends on many factors, but, on average, you can learn the basics in a couple of weeks and become effective in a couple of months.

    Kirill Mokevnin

    For two tips:

    • spend nerves on keyboard simulators like the notorious "Keyboard Solo";
    • paste the signatures on the keys.
Learning to type blindly on the keyboard using these methods is a mockery of yourself. Everyone who has tried Solo has slammed their fist on the keyboard at least once in rage, and almost no one has made it to the end. And those who tried to seal the inscriptions on the keys soon tore the stickers back, because without the skill and without the signatures it is impossible to print, but somehow you have to live on.

What if I told you that there is an absurdly simple, one-point way to learn touch typing without these stupid restrictions?

    Training

Print out and put next to the keyboard a diagram showing which finger is supposed to press which key.

    Way

Prevent yourself from pressing keys with the wrong fingers.

To you no need bring yourself to a nervous breakdown, again and again trying a hundred times without errors to print at speed letter combinations like “ololo lloloo” and phrases like “Vladimir Vladimirovich Shakhidzhanyan is my mentor and teacher.”

To you no need nothing special to learn.

To you can look at the keyboard as much as you want.

To you no need spend time exercising.

Just start typing in this way everything that you have to type in Everyday life and work - and after a while you will be touch typing.

    How and why it works

All you need to learn touch typing is to learn how to press the keys with their respective fingers. When this skill is not yet fixed, you have a desire to poke index fingers- so faster and more familiar. As long as you allow yourself to do this, the skill of pressing with the right fingers will never be fixed.

If, however, no exceptions are made and each key is pressed with a strictly corresponding finger, the skill will be fixed by itself in a relatively short time. This consolidation occurs at the level of motor skills, so memorization of the scheme is not required and great benefit, most likely will not bring.

At first, the print speed will drop significantly. There will be an agonizing desire to poke your index finger and, possibly, irritation. Fight them and don't make exceptions.

Depending on how much you print daily, it will take you anywhere from a few days to a few weeks to get back to your previous print speed, and then gradually increase.

You will not immediately and not immediately stop looking at the keyboard, but this is not the main thing. The main thing is that the skill will be fixed and the recruitment speed will increase. And the need to look at the keyboard will become less and less over time, until it disappears completely.

Choosing a Mapping Scheme Between Fingers and Keys

All schemes on the Internet offer this correspondence:

At the same time, oddly enough, it is proposed to put the hands normally:

Obviously, such a scheme (and the asymmetric keyboard itself with a shift in the rows of keys) was invented by a person with a fracture of his left wrist.

When I started typing, I quickly realized that putting my left little finger under my ring finger was unnatural and generally humiliating, so I chose the correspondence between fingers and keys in a way that was convenient for me:

    Hints

Every time you start typing, feel for the marks on the F / A and J / O keys with your index fingers. These marks are intended to help you place your fingers correctly on the keyboard without looking at it.

Position the keyboard so that the hands on it are symmetrical to your body, not offset to the left. The center of the main part of the keyboard is between the G/P and H/P keys.

    success stories

It took me several months myself to be able to type while looking only at the screen. This, of course, is about months of everyday life, and not months of hard training.

A few years later, clusterm gave me a Das Keyboard Ultimate for my birthday with Cherry MX mechanics and no key signatures. This post was written on it.
