Reviews of welders about the plasma cutting machine

Advantages:

Gone are the days when the leadership belonged exclusively to gas cutters. Technology does not stand still, and after inverter welding machines, plasma cutting machines began to appear. To produce plasma, these devices need electricity and compressed air supply. High-temperature plasma is formed in the plasma torch when air passes through an electric discharge. The air is ionized and goes into an unusual state. The outflow of plasma from the nozzle of the plasma torch (or plasma torch) occurs due to the giving of a positive charge to the metal being cut. It follows that the mass is always connected to the positive pole.

High-precision cuts on steels up to 12 mm thick are now performed exclusively with plasma cutters, thick metal (scrap) is still “chopped” with a gas cutter.

So, I really want to become the owner of a plasma cutter, but it is difficult to choose from the available assortment. What to do?

Answering this question, it should be noted that a plasma cutter called CUT 40 has firmly established itself on the market today. It comes under different brands. The most famous of them is AuroraPRO AIRHOLD 40, you've probably heard of her. It is also sold under a different name - Cedar CUT 40. Both are one and the same.

So, these proven products have been successfully opposed by Resant IPR-40K for more than a year, which, by the way, has established itself as a more stable device than CUT 40. years of Resanta welding inverters. And do not regret the money spent.

    Characteristics of the cutter Resant:

    Power supply: 220V, 50Hz

    Output current: 15-40A

    Duty cycle: 40 A - 35%;

Maximum thicknesses depending on the metal:

carbon and structural steels up to 12 mm

    corrosion-resistant steels - up to 7 mm

aluminum and its alloys - up to 6mm.

As you can see, the higher the electrical conductivity of the metal, the lower the thickness of the cut.

Disadvantages:

Many online stores sell the device itself, but do not sell consumables. And they burn out from time to time. The plasma temperature is very high, about 10 thousand degrees, the cut metal even evaporates in places. Be interested in the presence of consumables, if they are not there, then there is no point in buying the device.

Inverter plasma cutter Resanta IPR 40K provides a cut of excellent quality. The cut is carried out by passing compressed air through the plasma arc. The long power cable guarantees the freedom to carry the device during the job. A smooth change in the current value is achieved by rotating the potentiometer toggle switch. Lightness and compactness of the unit facilitate movement within the working platform with a cutter on the shoulder. The plasma cutter is very easy to use.

general description

The inverter plasma cutter Resanta IPR 40K is used for manual cutting of any type of metal and is the brainchild of modern technologies that have made it possible to adapt controlled plasma for this process, which is formed when a jet of air is strongly heated, playing the role of plasma gas blown through a burning electric arc. The required air jet pressure is generated by an external compressor. The result is a lightweight, small-sized machine that performs high-quality, accurate and fast metal cutting without much effort on the part of the operator. The unit is powered by a 220 V household power supply (the green indicator on the front panel lights up).

Plasma cutting has become a widespread method of manual metal processing. No bulky and unsafe equipment based on gaseous fuel and oxygen is required, the system has become light, mobile and compact. In addition, air-plasma cutting does not cause thermal deformation of the cut edges, does not lead to its tempering or hardening. Training to work on such equipment does not require a long time and can be reduced to a short cycle of practical training. All these qualities allowed the manual plasma cutting machine to go beyond strictly professional use and significantly expand its scope, using it for its intended purpose even in ordinary domestic conditions.

With the ability to create a cutting current of up to 40 A, the Resanta IPR 40K plasma cutter is capable of cutting steel with a thickness of 12 mm. At the same time, a more viscous stainless steel allows itself to be cut only if it has a thickness of up to 7 mm, and aluminum - up to 6 mm. If suddenly the device warms up to a temperature close to dangerous, the automation will turn off the power, keeping the fan running for faster cooling (the red indicator on the control panel will light up). As soon as the temperature returns to normal, the system is automatically ready for operation again (the red indicator goes out).

The device is equipped with a device (plasma torch) that creates directly cutting plasma, which is connected to the body with a hose-cable. The key on the plasma torch allows you to ignite the electric arc in manual mode, when the surface being cut comes into contact with the burner (yellow indicator lights up on the control panel). A fairly long cord for electrical connection makes the range of the device sufficient, and a smooth manual potentiometer allows you to accurately set the required current value.

The use of an inverter current conversion process in conjunction with IGBT technologies has made it possible not only to reduce the size and weight of the equipment, but also made it possible to operate with an unstable supply voltage. In addition, the device is relatively easy to maintain and does not require special care.

Device and principle of operation

Inverter plasma cutter Resanta IPR 40K compares favorably with its earlier counterparts in comparative simplicity and convenience. The system does not have bulky and dangerous cylinders with fuel and oxidizer, there is no need to use long and heavy special high pressure hoses. The whole device is a small and lightweight inverter converter, easily carried by hand or with a shoulder strap, as well as a hand-held plasma torch in the form of a gun connected to the converter body with a special hose-cable. The housing is made of steel sheet with slots for the cooling system. The rectangular, slightly elongated shape of the case is optimal in practice, as it allows you to install the device on the surface, and also makes it convenient for manual carrying to the place of use.

The front part of the case contains a control panel, where the designers placed a control pressure gauge, a power button, control indicators, as well as a manual potentiometer that allows you to smoothly adjust the operating current in the range of 15-40 A. Here, on the front panel, there is a hose cable with a manual plasma torch, as well as a terminal for connecting a cable with a clamp, which should ensure the circuit is closed.

On the rear wall of the housing there is a power cable with a plug for an outlet, as well as a special mount for mounting the gearbox and connecting the hose from the air compressor.

The main element in the body of the device is a special transformer with an inverter system for converting current to operating parameters. During the operation of such equipment, a significant amount of heat is released, therefore, in order to protect the device from rapid overheating, a forced air cooling system is arranged here. An electric fan blows over heated surfaces, carrying excess heat out. In the event of an unusual situation, the fan may not be able to cope with its task, so the automation will turn off the power to the device. After cooling, the device itself will restore its performance.

The main working tool of a plasma cutter is a plasma torch, that is, a device where a controlled jet of cutting plasma is directly formed. Plasma is an ionized luminous gas (in this case, air), which is formed when it is strongly heated, and is capable of conducting an electric current. Initially, in a special chamber of the plasma torch nozzle, an auxiliary standby electric arc with a current strength of up to 40 A is formed, which is blown out by an air stream. When touching metal, this pilot arc completes the circuit, which causes the main cutting arc to ignite. The air supply is sharply increased, and it, from strong heating, turns into a plasma. The volume of this air increases tenfold, which leads to the exit of the jet from the plasma torch nozzle at a transonic speed. The standby arc is turned off. As a result, the metal melted at the desired point is blown out and an accurate, neat cut is obtained.

Preparation for work

The Resanta IPR 40K manual plasma cutter itself is a fairly simple device. There is no need to perform any complex and labor-intensive operations to directly prepare it for operation. The device is connected by a hose to the compressor, the power cord is connected to a grounded socket, the mass cable is attached with a clip to the element being cut, and the system is ready for operation. It is only important to carry out all these operations in full compliance with the norms of the technical instructions for preparation and operation, which accompanies the delivery set.

If preparing the device for work does not cause any difficulties, then the cutting process itself is a delicate and responsible work. To get a quality cut, the operator will have to go through some practical training beforehand in order to acquire the necessary basic skills.

Given the process that accompanies the operation of a plasma cutter, it will not be out of place to pay special attention to compliance with fire safety rules. In addition, it is advisable to work with the device only in open space or where sufficient air exchange can be ensured. The operator must always use protective clothing and footwear, gloves, as well as respiratory and eye protection.
