The second method is cheaper, but it can be recommended as a temporary one: after all, the washer, and even more so the wire ring, are quite noticeable and look unaesthetic.

An important point: when buying hinges, pay attention to the size and thickness of the plate, as well as the location of the holes for the screws, these parameters of the old and new hinges must match. The easiest way is to remove the old hinges and go to the store with them. If it is not possible to find hinges that exactly match the parameters, take hinges with a larger mounting plate, but in this case the seat for them will have to be increased with a chisel. The loop should sit snugly in the recess. If the holes for the screws do not match, you will have to make new ones. But the old holes must be hammered with wooden pegs, pre-lubricated with glue.

Skewed doors can be caused by the deformation of the hinges under excessive load, when the weight of the door leaf is too large for a given configuration. In this case, it is necessary to replace the loops with new, more durable ones. In some cases, it is recommended to install an additional loop, for the most rational distribution of the load.

Another reason for the skew due to the "fault of the loops" may be the loosening of the fastening of the screws. The solution is obvious: replace the screws with longer ones. Even if a long screw scrolls and does not hold well, before screwing it is necessary to squeeze a little PVA glue into the hole. Tighten the screw the next day after the glue has dried.

Eliminate defects in the door frame

Over time, the door frame can loosen in the fasteners and sag. There can be many reasons: installation errors, moisture, significant weight of the door leaf, long-term operation. You can solve the problem by strengthening the door frame fasteners or radically by reinstalling. The choice of method depends on the condition of the attachment.

In any case, you will need to remove the casing and assess the situation. Pay attention to the integrity of the box, the strength of its installation in the opening (staggering or not) and the condition of the mounting foam.

If the connection of the box elements is broken, remove it and repair it: restore the fastening with self-tapping screws (the parts must first be “planted” on the glue). Then install in place.

If everything is in order with the state of the connections, the cause of the skew may be a violation of the geometry of the box: it sank somewhere, you need to determine in which direction it was “led”. The main load falls on the rack of the box, on which the hinges are located. Most often, this side is loosened, pay attention to it first.

In such a situation, you need to remove the mounting foam - completely or in a separate area. Next, you need to put the box in the correct position and fix it with wooden wedges. The wedges need to be knocked out in pairs, opposite each other (there are two wedges on each side that support each other, so you will ensure the most reliable fixation of the box in the opening). After driving in the wedges, check the correct installation - hang the door and check how it closes, whether the locks and latches work. The door should not touch the box, the same gaps should remain around the perimeter.

Next, you need to close the door tightly, and insert strips of cardboard folded several times along the perimeter between the canvas and the box to exclude the possibility of deformation of the box due to the expansion of the mounting foam. The next step is to fill the space between the slope and the box with mounting foam. Wait for complete drying. It is better to leave the box for a day. Then cut off the excess and put the trim in place.

Skewed through the fault of the door leaf

Doors made of wood are sensitive to changes in humidity and temperature - the swelling of wood fibers can lead to a change in the size of the canvas (the doors do not close because they are swollen in the open state, or, on the contrary, the doors are jammed due to swelling in the closed state).

In such a situation, first of all, you need to eliminate the cause - bring the microclimate parameters back to normal: proper ventilation and maintaining a sufficient temperature level are important.

If the integrity of the door leaf is preserved and the door is just a little swollen, it may be possible to solve the situation by restoring a normal microclimate - the doors will return to normal without outside help.

In a more difficult situation, one can observe an increase in the size of the panels and, as a result, the destruction of the connection of the elements of the door leaf. In this case, it is advisable to contact a carpentry workshop - it will be difficult to restore integrity without special equipment.

What to do if the door is jammed

If, due to any of the above reasons, the door is jammed and it is impossible to open it, try to perform “resuscitation” - still enter the room for further investigation - to find out the causes of the skew and solve the problem.

First, check the operation of the locks and latches (to exclude the possibility of jamming due to the fault of the fittings). Next, gently tap the door with a hammer around the perimeter - be sure to place a plank under the hammer so as not to disturb the coating. If the door does not give in to mechanical action and still firmly “sits” in the opening, dismantle it: remove the trim, remove the mounting foam, the fixing anchors can be cut with a hacksaw blade. Carefully remove the door block and eliminate the jamming cause using one of the methods described above.

The first trouble occurs due to the natural wear of the hinges and, as a result, the sagging of the door leaf. Of course, in this case, the canvas, and specifically the doors, will not fit well into the box, that is, they will close with force. The problem is solved quite simply: by completely replacing the hinges or by lining washers of a certain size. In extreme cases, you can make a ring of wire, which will temporarily eliminate the worked out part of the loops.

If your door constantly hits the threshold or is difficult to close, you may need to replace, adjust or re-hinge the hinges.

If you still decide to purchase new hinges, you need to pay attention to the thickness of the plates so as not to deepen the seat under them, as well as to the location of the seats in the plate. The best option would be if you take an old loop, which will serve as a model, and visit the store with it. But it happens that such loops were not on sale. Then you will have to deepen the seat under the plates with a chisel, and hammer wooden pegs pre-lubricated with PVA glue into the places where the screws were screwed.

And it happens that the hinges begin to deform from an increase in the weight of the doors if they are decorated with some material, for example, veneer. Then you will have to replace the loops with more powerful ones or add a third loop to the two. If the screws are loosened, this is eliminated quite simply: unscrew the screws, pour glue into the hole and screw the screws back. The trick is that after about a day, the fasteners need to be tightened at least another half a turn.

While using the door, the box can also sag and prevent the door from fully closing. The reasons why the door frame may sag may be the following: errors in its installation, exposure to moisture, a door that is too heavy and the influence of time. However, in order to accurately determine the cause of the deformation of the box, it is necessary to remove the trim and examine the condition of the box, the integrity of the mounting foam, and the presence of rigidity in the location of the box in the opening.

If the box in the opening is loosened, it is necessary to unscrew the bolts securing it in the opening, again pour glue into the bolt seats and screw them (bolts) into place. In the case when the hinges hold the box well, but it still dangles, you will have to remove the mounting foam, level the box again with wooden pegs and close the gaps again with mounting foam. This whole process is done either on a separate section of the doorway, or completely in the entire opening.

Wooden door leafs are very sensitive to moisture and moisture and temperature. As a result, the wood fibers swell and the geometry of the door changes, that is, the dimensions of the leaf increase. The door may not fit well into the box because it is swollen in the open state or not open because it has suffered in the closed position.

To check the correctness of the geometry and find out the place where the revision will have to be done, it is necessary to remove the door leaf and diagonally measure the dimensions of the leaf and the opening of the door frame. The difference in size is unacceptable, and if it exists, then this defect must be eliminated.

Pay attention to the corners, they must be straight, use the construction angle template to measure. To check the plane of the door leaf and the door frame, you can use any flat rail. The surface should be even, if there are gaps, it means that the wooden elements are deformed, and this defect cannot be corrected on its own. Such changes are possible if the manufacturer used raw wood or treated it poorly with a moisture-repellent composition.

If the geometry of the door frame is broken, the only way to eliminate it is to dismantle it. Using a level, set the door frame correctly and secure with foam. After drying, once again make sure that the opening is installed without deviations, remove excess foam and cover the repair site with slopes.

To avoid problems with the door frame, it is necessary to correctly install this design. The easiest way is to install spacers. This is especially necessary if you use an ordinary solution to fill the gaps between the opening and the box. In this case, so that the wood does not absorb excess moisture and does not deform, insulate the door frame with plastic wrap.

If the geometry of the doors is not broken, and the canvas “hangs” - this indicates that the door hinges have worn out. It is necessary to remove the old hinges and pick up similar ones in size and thickness. It is advisable to fasten the new hinges with new screws slightly longer than the old ones. In this case, the installation will be reliable.

When, over time, the door has lost its original appearance, swelled or warped, and the above methods did not allow to eliminate the shortcomings, the only way to fix the porch is to remove several millimeters of the door leaf interfering with the porch with a planer. Then everything superfluous is brushed off in the direction of the wood fibers, cleaned with sandpaper and painted. If the opposite situation arose and gaps formed, the easiest way to eliminate them would be to use self-adhesive rubber seals. Located on the door frame in the places of the porch, they will provide reliable insulation.
