Sometimes shopkeepers throw away old wooden barrels. After all, such containers eventually become unsuitable for storing cucumbers, sauerkraut. If you find such a trophy, then the dog kennel will cost almost nothing. You can buy an old barrel inexpensively and also save a lot.

But it must be washed well inside and out, let it dry completely for several days. So that there are no drafts in the dog's house, if the boards have parted, connect them.
If the gaps are small, you can put an open barrel in a pond, placing stones inside. The tree will get wet within 3–5, fill the gaps.
The dried container must be covered with an antiseptic and dried again. And if the barrel is in poor condition, first treat its surface with sandpaper. Now a hole of such a size is cut on one side so that the dog can pass freely. Based on your preference, make it round, rectangular, or arched.

It can also be created by placing it on the bottom or sawing it in half. One old barrel will turn into two identical tables. Hammer out curly legs from planks to fix the workpiece. Put a wooden tabletop on top, fix it with self-tapping screws. To achieve a consistent style, paint the wooden parts of the table the same color.

For the second idea, such a container is sawn across in half. Get blanks for two tables. Tempered glass is placed on top of them so that it does not move out, use special fixing gaskets.

1. The walls of the barrel are lined with refractory bricks. Laying must be carried out on a clay mortar, in a continuous thick layer. It can be purchased ready-made (for example, Weber Vetonit ML Savi) or created independently. Proportions: chamotte clay - 1 part, ordinary clay - 1 part, sand - 4 parts. Cement-based mixes are not suitable as they are less resistant to elevated temperatures. This can lead to the fact that during use of the oven, its walls will crack.

1. With the help of a grinder, the brick is given the necessary shape. Masonry is carried out to the top of the barrel. Masonry is carried out in a quarter of a brick; during its execution, make sure that you do not accidentally lay a hole for the blower.
2. In order to avoid problems with closing the lower blower, you need to cut off the edges of the brick at an angle with the help of a grinder. After that, a wooden handle should be attached to the brick, for this a recess is drilled in the center of the brick, and the handle is planted on the clay mortar. You can use a cast-iron blower door with a steel damper, but it will be less airtight.

1. A fat collection tray is being installed. The pallet is a small pot that is attached to a metal bar and hung inside the tandoor. To fasten the pallet inside the oven, you will need to make slots in the brickwork.

1. Further, a wooden cover is made for the tandoor. To create it, you will need wooden boards with a thickness of 30 millimeters. The lid is two-layer, the diameter of the lower layer is approximately half that of the upper one.

After the manufacture of the furnace, it is worth thinking about its installation. Since the furnace is stationary, it must be installed on the foundation. It should be shallow, about 20 centimeters. At the same time, the diameter of the recess in the ground should be slightly larger than the diameter of the furnace, by about 15-20 centimeters. For the manufacture of the foundation, it is required to fill a pillow of sand at the bottom of the pit, and lay a reinforcing mesh on top. Formwork is created with a height of 10-15 centimeters, it is poured with concrete.

Second way

There is an easier way to make a tandoor from a barrel:

Inside the barrel, clearly in the center, a piece of a large-diameter iron pipe is installed.
The space remaining between the walls of the barrel and the pipe must be filled with expanded clay, slag or broken refractory bricks.

The disadvantage of this method of making a tandoor is that the temperature inside the barrel is much lower than when using a ceramic tandoor.
