How to furnish an apartment cheaply and beautifully? Modern apartment design. Options for arranging a small apartment from a to z What is a design project

In this article, we will offer you ten ideas for creating the most functional interior of a one-room apartment, dividing the space of a single room into several zones, arranging an office and a cozy bedroom in one room, and also talk about ways to visually expand the space in a one-room apartment.

A one-room apartment, of course, cannot be called the most spacious home for a family, but since you only have such a fairly modest living space at your disposal, you need to make it as functional and comfortable as possible. We hope that the tips offered in this article will help you cope with this difficult task.

The only room in the apartment becomes a living room, a bedroom, an office, and a nursery. Combining such a large number of functions in a small area is certainly difficult, but with the help of modern design techniques it is quite possible.

The first idea - we are trying to get rid of everything superfluous

Before proceeding with the design of the space of the only living room of your apartment, you should think carefully about what you cannot do without in this room, and what can be taken outside of it.

The worst option for arranging a “odnushka” is a completely cluttered room, in which, due to the abundance of furniture, there is simply nowhere to turn around. Therefore, you should clear the space as much as possible and get rid of everything superfluous.

For example, if the corridor in your apartment is quite large, it is here that you should install a spacious closet, which will become the main storage place for the family wardrobe. Then in the room itself it will be possible to install only a light wall for books, souvenirs and other trifles.

If the apartment has a balcony or loggia, they can also be used to get rid of unnecessary items. Just organize a well-thought-out storage system, for example, order or buy ready-made racks, otherwise, instead of a living room, it is the loggia that will turn into a warehouse of unnecessary things. In general, all items that can be stored in an unheated room can be taken out to the balcony.

In typical "Khrushchev" there is usually a pantry that can be converted into a dressing room. We already wrote about this arrangement option in the article "Storage places in a small apartment". You can also think about moving the work area, that is, a table for a computer or laptop to the kitchen, but this way of freeing the living room from excess furniture is not suitable for everyone. If the kitchen itself has a very small area, it will not be able to take on additional functions.

Now, when only the necessary pieces of furniture are left in the room, you can think about the design of the interior design.

Of course, you can’t do without storage places in the only living room of the apartment. But let it not be a massive closet crammed with things, but a light wall that can simultaneously serve as a TV stand

The second idea is minimalism as a way to make the room more spacious.

This advice is a logical continuation of the previous one. As an interior style, minimalism is ideal for creating a space freed from everything superfluous, leaving the owners with only the most functional and necessary pieces of furniture and decor.

Conciseness, which is the hallmark of minimalism, will allow you to leave enough free space even in a small area of the living room, to avoid excessive pomp and pretentiousness, which will simply be inappropriate in a one-room apartment. “Less is better, but better” is an excellent principle for arranging a one-room apartment.

If you do not accept minimalism in its purest form, considering this interior design option too cold and devoid of individuality, adopt certain principles of such an interior. So, of course, you don’t need to completely avoid decor, but it’s not worth overloading the room with details, for example, decorating a low ceiling with lush stucco or placing a huge picture on a small empty wall space between the TV and the wall.

Strict lines, neutral shades, laconic facades, an interior where rare decor items coexist with exceptionally functional furniture - minimalism, like no other style, is suitable for creating a bright and not overloaded with details interior of a one-room apartment

The third idea is a podium as a way to hide a sleeping place

How to make a podium bed with your own hands, we already wrote in one of our articles. In a one-room apartment, such a design can be a panacea for the lack of free space for installing a spacious closet or double bed.

The latter option is the most convenient for one-room apartments, because you will definitely find a place for a sofa to watch TV or receive guests, but not always for a double bed or a bed for guests.

Of course, a podium with a hidden berth will have to be built to order or on your own, you will have to purchase a convenient and reliable system for “rolling up” the bed under the flooring, top finishing materials and a good mattress. However, all these expenses will be more than paid off by convenience - you just have to pull out the drawer and the already made bed is at your service - as well as saving space incomparable with other methods.

On the podium itself, a recreation area, a workplace or a playpen can be located, but the sleeping place will be securely hidden inside the structure during the day

Fourth idea - transforming furniture

Another invention created specifically for small rooms. In large houses, there is simply no need for such multifunctional or “masquerading” furniture - here the table is just a table, and the bed is just a bed. For modest "odnushki" this option is not suitable - since the room itself performs many functions, then the furniture should be appropriate.

What is worth buying for the only living room of the apartment:

 1. Folding sofa with a spacious drawer for linen and other things. A surprising number of useful items are placed in a drawer under the sofa, ranging from pillows to winter shoes “hidden” for the summer. Well, you can’t do without a sleeping place that develops for the day in the “odnushka” at all.
 2. Armchair bed. An excellent "safety" option for a friend who decides to stay the night. And it doesn't take up much space, and you can sleep comfortably. By the way, for a child who has already grown out of the playpen, but lives with his parents in the same room, it is also perfect.
 3. A table-cabinet, a table that "leaves" from under the bed, just a folding or folding table for a family dinner, working at a computer and receiving guests.
 4. The bed, which “hides” in the closet for the day, turns into a table, an ordinary sofa, rises to the ceiling, and so on.

The only disadvantage of such transforming furniture is the high cost, since reliable models simply cannot be cheap. In addition, transformers often have to be ordered in advance so that they meet the general style of the room and its size.

At night - a full bed, during the day - a sofa and shelves for books. This is what a transforming bed looks like in business

Fifth idea - a wardrobe with open shelves as an option for dividing space

One of the most successful zoning options for the only living room of the house is the use of shelving or cabinets with open shelves. Such structures will not be a serious obstacle to sunlight, but at the same time they will reliably hide, for example, the owner's bed or the child's bed.

If a closet that rises almost to the ceiling seems too bulky to you or interferes with the creation of an effective natural lighting system, you can choose relatively low designs. In general, it is enough that the rack is flush with the headboard, sofa or playpen, which will be hidden behind its shelves.

The advantages of such structures include their mobility - if desired, the rack can be easily moved to another place, as well as the ability to use open shelves on both sides. And the main drawback can be considered precisely openness - the rack turns into an exhibition of books or souvenirs, it will not work to store various household trifles on the shelves.

A light rack with open shelves made it possible to single out a separate cozy sleeping area on the territory of the room.

The sixth idea is a screen, a light partition, a curtain

You can divide the space of the “odnushka” into several functional zones not only with the help of a rack or a cabinet with open shelves. Designers suggest using all kinds of screens for these purposes, light mobile or stationary partitions, curtains and even carpets.

One of the easiest ways to quickly organize an isolated corner for sleeping and relaxing is to use chipboard boards that are connected to each other with piano hinges. Such a screen can first be pasted over with the same wallpaper that decorated the walls of the entire room. You can also play in contrast and choose a brighter shade of paint or wallpaper with a different pattern to finish a light partition. When creating such a screen, the edges of the plates are pasted over with the same wallpaper or covered with paint matched to the tone.

Glass partitions are not very popular because of the too cold, office appearance, but fans of high-tech style will do just fine.

Another option for dividing a room is a bar counter, which, moreover, can become not only a place for receiving guests, but also a work desk.

A branch screen will immediately give the room an exotic style, and if such an interior is not to your taste, you can replace it with a dense fabric curtain

The seventh idea - we attach a balcony or loggia

In the conditions of a cramped one-room apartment, joining a loggia or balcony becomes literally a dream of the owners, although it requires additional costs, as well as coordination of redevelopment.

However, all these costs and efforts are paid off by the appearance of a cozy separate or completely connected area with the room, where you can place a bed, a computer desk, a children's play area, and so on.

A less expensive way to attach a balcony or loggia is not to demolish the entire wall, leaving the existing window sill, which can become a table, aquarium stand or bar counter.

In any case, you should consider the heating system of the attached area and design it in the main style chosen for the entire room.

Eighth idea - options for placing a crib

A one-room apartment is a good option for a young couple or a person who has not yet had time to start a family. But cases when a family with one or two children lives in the “odnushka” are far from uncommon.

In such a situation, one of the main problems of the owners is the placement of a children's bed. Consider several options and design tips:

 1. If the room already has a niche or an alcove, it is in this cozy corner that you should place a sleeping place for a child. A light curtain - and the niche will become a separate children's bedroom. In some apartments, in such originally planned alcoves, not only a bunk bed is placed, but also a small desk.
 2. Experts do not advise placing a baby bed by the window - a draft, too bright sunlight, a hot radiator - such a neighborhood cannot be called useful for a child.
 3. A long elongated room can be divided visually or with the help of screens and partitions into two zones - for children and adults. Sometimes, to highlight the corner of the child, it is enough to place a bright rug in this part of the room. And let it be the adult zone that will be a walk-through, so that the baby, who usually goes to bed before his parents, does not bother anything.
 4. A baby bed can also be placed on the podium.
 5. A loft bed that leaves enough room on the lower bunk for a computer desk or play area is a great option for a studio apartment.
 6. At first, a playpen installed by the parents' bed is quite enough for a newborn. And it will be possible to create a full-fledged children's corner for an already grown up baby who needs a real bed.

This room already has a niche where the playpen fits perfectly. This option can be called optimal, and if you hang a light curtain in the opening, then the nursery will turn into a cozy and hidden corner from prying eyes

Ninth idea - the optimal color scheme

Regarding color solutions, designers are unanimous and recommend choosing an interior designed in neutral colors, with separate splashes of bright colors. Using different shades, you can emphasize the division of a room into separate zones, visually expand the space by choosing light colors, so you should not underestimate the importance of colors in creating a comfortable interior.

The ceiling should definitely be preferred in plain, light beige, white, light green or pale yellow. Remember that dark corners and walls will make a small room even cramped, so these options should be avoided.

You should not get carried away and decorate the interior in one single color scheme. In a room with pink curtains, light red walls and a scarlet sofa, even a very balanced person will feel uncomfortable. It is better to choose two or three primary colors that blend perfectly with each other. The following combinations are considered classic: beige and chocolate, pink and white, yellow and blue, brown and green, mustard and terracotta, blue and gray. In general, white color goes well with all shades, but bright red, blue and dark green in the interior should not be much.

The cheerful sofa looks especially bright and cozy against the background of neutral walls. In such a bright room, even rich dark furniture would be appropriate.

The tenth idea is a properly equipped lighting system

One light source in such a multifunctional room will not be enough. Imagine a situation when you want to read, and the second half is already sleeping - the light of a large chandelier will definitely interfere with it.

When arranging a lighting system in the only living room of an apartment, one should be guided by a simple principle - each functional area needs its own lighting device. Do not forget about the wall lamp near the bed and work desk, a night light or a dimmed lamp near the crib, and so on.

It is necessary, of course, to create a room lighting scheme even at the repair stage, if necessary, you should contact a specialist and take care of reliable wiring. And remember that lighting fixtures should be combined not only with the main style of the interior of the room, but also with each other. Many manufacturers offer chandeliers and sconces with the same shades - this choice will not make a mistake with the design.

In principle, a massive chandelier with numerous shades can be completely abandoned; it is better to create a spot lighting system.

Spotlights, sconces above the bed - the lighting system of a one-room apartment should be as thoughtful as possible. Lack of light can be as much of a problem as a huge chandelier that is too bright.

The arrangement of the only living room of the house requires a special approach. Often, in pursuit of maximum functionality, the owners forget about beauty and harmony, about the basic principles of creating a cozy interior. We hope that our advice will be useful to those who are planning to turn their modest "odnushka" into an attractive and comfortable home.

The Village is launching a new column where professional interior designers and decorators will provide advice on how to transform typical rental apartments into livable spaces. In the first issue, Anna and Mikhail Koshelev, owners of the design project happystation.ru and the authors of the material, told what and how exactly needs to be done in order to give a rented apartment a cozy and residential look.

Since the realtor assures that the apartment is clean (?!) and ready to move in, we fully assume that there will be those who consider the housing to be beautiful and will appreciate the presence of glass in the windows, the “antique” of the furniture and the moderate stickiness of the kitchen apron. To a more squeamish person, the apartment is in a sad state. We will give advice on improvement from the minimum volume to ever deeper modernization. Just pick a point at which changes seem irrational and say "stop."

The owner, as we managed to find out from his representatives, is not in the city, and we did not find out how expensive it is for him to preserve the historical appearance of the apartment after you move out. So we decided to proceed from the most difficult option: everything is needed, every thing is expensive as the same age as the era, something can be changed, but at a minimum, all costs are on you.

First, we go to the hardware store and buy

Bucket of white paint (at more difficult stages we will learn how to tint it);

self-adhesive film;

A couple of boxes or containers for the owner's junk;

Pillow cases in the kitchen (4 pieces), a few more for the living room and a couple of flat cushions for stools;

Two or three large plain cotton blankets - on the bed and on both sofas;

Tablecloth on the table (a little tip from us: it is better to use a bath screen made of impregnated polyester as a tablecloth; oilcloth is a stone age, and a fabric tablecloth will have to be washed often);

Shower fixture and white curtain;

Handles for cabinets in the kitchen (those that are fastened with one screw are also suitable), as well as magnetic latches;

floor lamps (pieces 3 minimum);

A small bathroom mirror and a new toilet seat of your choice.

Option 1. Beginner

Budget up to 15,000

Suitable for those who already like the “design”, or those who have never held a roller in their hands.

Bathroom

The first desire that arises (immediately after the desire to simply leave the premises) is to get rid of unsanitary conditions. Therefore, we remove everything that is uneven in the container, and proceed to cleaning. We paint the ceiling and the upper part of the walls. After finishing the work, we hang a mirror over the sink (it seems that a protruding screw is visible a little to the left of the sink) and change the light bulb to a brighter one.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, we paste over the facades of the cabinets with a film, while wrapping the corners inward so that the film lasts longer, and change the handles. Choose a film to your taste: it can be mother-of-pearl, under a stone, under expensive types of wood. But if you do not want to wishful thinking, choose a solid color. For example, white will return cleanliness to the kitchen, and your appetite. We paint the walls directly on top of the wallpaper, the result will amaze you. We remind you that this is an option for a simple repair. Pillows are dressed in new plain and printed pillowcases. A non-capricious white interior with any choice will look good. But it is better to stick to neutral tones: beige, gray, pastel shades. Cheap and bright is a risky choice. Think of an interior in the style of Philippe Starck, and you get a kindergarten in Mytishchi. Let only a couple of details be bright - a vase on the table and a lamp on the refrigerator. We lay a new tablecloth on the table, repaint the stools. If provided, we cover the sofa with a plain blanket, and stools with pillows.

Living room

Here, too, we paint the walls and change the bedspreads. We don’t touch cabinets in this version: it will take a lot of film on them, but they won’t get better. Remember, we advised you to buy floor lamps? Now the magic will begin. Forget about the overhead light, place floor lamps throughout the apartment where you will do something: in the kitchen, by the bed, next to the sofa. Decorators use spot lighting for zoning, we will use the lack of light to divert attention from imperfections.

Option 2. Amateur

Budgetbefore30 000 rubles

People at this level already see the apartment's potential: high ceilings, large windows. With due care, this will play into our hands.

Bathroom

In addition to the paint, we would buy a metal spatula and ready-made wall grout to cover up the holes. Above the mirror you can hang a small sconce. And if you buy a meter-long mirror and also hang it behind the toilet, it will become much more spacious and lighter. The tile is also not hopeless. With a nail or screwdriver, try to pick out the maximum amount of old grout, and put a new one in there with a silicone spatula.

Kitchen

Instead of a white film for cabinets, you can take the one on which they write with chalk. The refrigerator will also make a good board for notes and drawings. The only place that discouraged appetite was a tiled apron. It must be measured and asked in the same hardware store to cut laminated MDF sheets. They cost about a thousand for a three-meter sheet. One will be more than enough. You can even use wide double sided tape. The sheets will stand on the countertop, and the adhesive tape will remain to hold everything in a vertical position. If the owner is upset about the change, peel it off, and the apron will be like new (that is, old).

A slightly increased budget will allow you to buy a couple of new stools or even inexpensive folding chairs with cushions on the seats. The kitchen will no longer be a disaster, but the walls are asking for comfort - hang a couple of shelves for spices, a clock and a small poster above the table. Whatever one may say, the kitchen area allows, and we will spend a lot of time there. To keep non-closing cabinet doors from annoying, attach magnetic latches to them.

I want to move the sofa close to the wall, and put a lamp on the floor by the window. The curtain seems to be synthetic, so it is better to get rid of it and replace it with cotton. On the windowsill you can put a vase of flowers or some plant in a long balcony box.

Living room

We advise you to simply peel off the wallpaper and paint the plaster with paint. The style will turn out to be quite a loft. The room will start to look acceptable, but it will look even better with large photographs and posters on the walls.

We are very annoyed by a terrible and stupid cabinet. What if you get lucky and it burns down or thieves steal it? It is unlikely that the owner will require more than 15 rubles from you for compensation. So it was decided - to the landfill. The bed looks tolerable, but if we talk about the design claim, it is worth organizing a headboard (can be made from boards, books, oars, whatever). Place at least one bedside table next to the bed to place a lamp on it. Or screw a retractable wall sconce to the wall so you can read.

The only thing that doesn't beg for a dump is the curtain. Add printed curtains to it. They will not harmonize with the closet, but it is so old that it is better to get rid of it and replace it with a shelving unit or chest of drawers.

Option 3. Veteran

Budget about100 000 rubles

Such an apartment and for that kind of money you yourself can retake, recapturing the cost of repairs in a few months. At this stage, the changes for the landlord will already become noticeable and nothing will be returned. But you can minimize the risks if you take all the things that give you pleasure and do not give the owner when you check out.

When we rented an apartment, all the walls were decorated with plaques and signs. From the US Post Office to the Soviet warnings "From a bottle of vodka to an accident, one step." And guests at the entrance were met by a 20-year-old Vespa.

It's time to add some personality to your home. You work for someone, right? Journalist - bring magazines and make a coffee table out of them. Fashion designer? Surely you have an extra mannequin on the leg. Worse if you are a programmer or a politician. But in the first case, you can afford a headboard from old keyboards, but in the second, it's a disaster. We don't even know how to help. Kitchen

In any large building hypermarket, buy a leaf of wood (pine is cheaper, larch is more expensive, but more textured) and a can of furniture wax (preferably oak, darker). Ask to cut a tree right in the store. Lay a cut wax-soaked sheet on top of your kitchen table for an almost designer table. The next step might be to find prettier legs.

In the store, still cut boards or lining for a kitchen apron. Pine is a short-lived material for these purposes, but it will look great for a couple of years, and costs only 180 rubles per square meter.

From our past, there is another trick with a chandelier: you buy a new one and change it for a while while you live in this apartment, and then return everything back.

You can give your sofa a second chance by upholstering it with an inexpensive thick fabric for curtains. You will need a construction stapler, and then it's up to you, just take care of your fingers.

Living room

We would paint the frame of the bed black and cover it with a nice thick bedspread, hanging three photo frames of the same size above our heads. But you really need to get rid of the closet. Choose cheap furniture from IKEA to replace it and dilute this Scandinavian idyll with something personal: bring decor in the same style or color from your trips (for example, photo frames or plates that you can hang on the wall), go to flea markets (in Moscow, by the way, in one corner in Izmailovo you can buy the most fashionable woolen retro carpets from Ossetia for 3 thousand rubles), catch interesting chairs and cabinets at Avito. Just make sure that the decor is made from natural materials. And beware of cluttering with unnecessary things: let useful things be decor - lamps, kitchen utensils, textiles.

As open as possible, the room will seem larger, but functionally it will become smaller. It is important to find a compromise between the "airiness" and the necessary "living wage" of domestic premises.

The smaller the apartment, the more attention should be paid to details. Each of them is close to you, and you look at it much more closely. Therefore, the finishing requires extreme accuracy.

Fight for volume. If the area of the apartment is small, do not lower the ceiling level, do not make it “stepped”. Visually, this dramatically reduces the room. It is better to make a high baseboard and ceiling cornice.

Showcase bedside table with transparent lid and drawer, designed by Studio Front, Porro.

Set of three low tables/chairs Per Parm Pum, designed by Mark Sadler, Lema.

Living room

Massive objects in a small apartment, oddly enough, can create the illusion of spaciousness. The viewer thinks: "If such large things fit in such a small space, then in fact it is not so small."

Roman blinds and roller blinds are more convenient than usual ones, as they help to gain a few extra centimeters. They are a real salvation in cases where there is simply nowhere to “put” traditional curtains.

It is better to decorate a small apartment in the same style. The more solid it looks, the more spacious it seems. No need to strive to try everything on 40 square meters - classics, modernity, and exotics.

Entrance hall with built-in bench, Hülsta.

Don't skimp on the hallway. The first impression of the apartment is from the entrance. The cramped entrance area creates a depressing feeling. In fact, we don't move much in living rooms. We are sitting in the living room. We lie in the bedroom. But if you go through narrow corridors filled with furniture many times a day, you begin to suffer from crowding.

Choose wallpaper with a large rapport for the walls. At the first moment, the human eye stops at the pattern. The background seems to go somewhere into the distance.

Pivot console with drawers, designed by Raw-Edges Design, Arco.

Side table/chair/bookshelf Scalo, design by Benedetto Cuacuaro, Cerruti Baleri.

Cubotto low table/minibar with drawer, Cini Boeri design, Arflex.

hallway wardrobe program Flow, design Carmen Stahlbeumer, Schönbuch.

Modular storage system 505 with folding table, designed by Luca Meda and Rodolfo Dordoni, Molteni & C.

Think multifunctional. Each item in a small room should perform not one function, but several. Example: a bookcase with a secretary and sections for clothes.

Use "anti-vandal" finishing materials. It must be understood that in a small apartment, contact with the walls will occur much more often than in a large one. Vinyl wallpapers are more practical than paper ones. All kinds of decorative plasters are good.

Rewrite writing desk with hood in Divina soundproofing wool fabric by Kvadrat, designed by GamFratesi, Ligne Roset.

Folding desk and computer table Zelos, designed by Christoph Boninger, ClassiCon.

Tangram modular storage system of seven elements, has 249 compositional solutions, Lago.

Make the most of the walls. If there is not enough space, furniture attached to the wall is more practical than the one that stands on the floor.

Target bookcase with cross shelves, designed by Nendo studio, Arketipo.

It is pointless to fence up to the ceiling in the children's room. It will be difficult for the child to reach the upper shelves. But buying a loft bed and placing a wardrobe under it is a perfectly reasonable idea. Children love to sleep on such a bed, and clothes and other belongings will always be at hand.

The "congenital" defect of open space planning is the lack of space for storage systems. Before demolishing walls, consider where you will build cabinets or hang shelves.

Three Upsido side tables linked together to form a book storage system, Lanteloo.

Modern storage system, Material house collection, design by Piero Lissoni, Porro.

Adamante side tables that can be used as bookshelves, Pianca.

Bedroom

GAB 04 Camerette storage system with built-in Lucia wardrobe, pull-out desk and LUN8 bed on wheels, designed by CRS studio.

Not so important: the main thing is that there is enough space for a bed, and the cubic capacity of the room is such that it is not stuffy in it.

Do not believe that the brighter the room, the more spacious it is. Don't be afraid of color. Beige and gray tones look better in large spaces.

Don't be afraid of mirrors on the ceiling. This technique visually “raises” it and makes the room more spacious. Very convenient mirror plastic, which is glued to any surface. And so that the bedroom does not look like a love-hotel room, do not cover the entire ceiling with it: a strip 25-30 cm wide looks much better, running above the window, along the contour of the room or above its most beautiful part.

Wardrobe

Abacus dressing room on aluminum frame, with lighting and glass panels, design by Giuseppe Bavuso, Rimadesio. In a small kitchen or bathroom, there is no place for free-standing appliances or cabinets. Built-in models allow more efficient use of space.

Folding tables that are attached to the wall are a great solution for a small kitchen. A practical combination is a folding table built into the wardrobe.

Cabinet-column for the kitchen with a folding door, Dada.

Deep cabinets-columns (60 × 60 cm) are very convenient. Remove small appliances in them that occupy scarce space on the countertop.

Bathroom

The OpenSpace shower cabin occupies a minimum of space in the bathroom - its doors fold parallel to the wall, design bureau Eoos, Duravit.

Well helps to get rid of the feeling of cramped reception "accent wall". Choose one wall and decorate it with some kind of spectacular coating or just paint it in a bright color. All other walls should remain neutral in color and texture. This will “open up” the perspective of the room.

Sink with storage system, hanging toilet bowl, mirror, Odeon Up collection, Jacob Delafon.

Install a ceiling-mounted clothes dryer in your bathroom. Such models are more practical than floor models: you do not risk accidentally overturning the entire structure.

How can residents of small apartments arrange their housing properly? At first it seems that it is very difficult, but everything is in our hands! Consider various options for apartment design.

Planning the design and renovation of your own home is an exciting activity. We have all the technologies and materials in our hands, thanks to which we can transform our apartment.

One-room nest is great for single people and young couples. They do not have a lot of things and furniture, and they can economically dispose of precious squares.

Let's think about how to make the apartment CONVENIENT FOR THE OWNERS. It depends on their lifestyle and interests. For example, if a young man, a girl or a couple of newlyweds lives in it, then, most likely, guests often come to them, they arrange noisy parties or just sit around the TV. An adult or older person may have other interests.

Let's talk about them in more detail.

dining-living room

It seems that young people will want to connect the kitchen with the room, dividing the apartment into conditional parts with the help of a DINING TABLE, BAR COUNTER or SOFA. A larger number of guests will enter such a room, someone will be located in the living room, someone in the kitchen, while everyone will see each other and communicate freely.

A folding sofa will serve as a sleeping place. If the area allows, you can put a sofa in the room, then you can put a bed in the room.

An elderly person will most likely decide to leave the kitchen untouched, except to shorten the wall between the room and the corridor in order to. If the room is not very small, then it will be good to divide it into two parts: a bedroom and a living room. Of course, the division will be rather conditional. To do this, you just need to put a small rack, a wardrobe with mirrored doors (it all depends on the area of the room), or an ordinary screen.

Living room combined with a loggia

Another popular option for increasing space is to combine a room with. We remove the window and the door, glaze the loggia, insulate it, and we get a small room. In it you can equip a dressing room, office or bed.

Key elements of the interior of a one-room apartment:

 • furniture;
 • window;
 • lighting.

Furniture

With furniture in a small apartment is always difficult. You should decide what you can do without, because you should not force a single room. A closet is a must, you can't do without it. In you can install a tall and spacious wardrobe. If there is not enough space, we demolish the wall between the room and the corridor and put a closet in its place. Thus, the corridor will increase, and there will be no need to clutter up the room. If the bed does not fit, then we choose only a folding sofa with drawers for bed linen. Chairs can be abandoned in favor of comfortable chairs.

Window

A large open window always transforms a room, and its design plays a big role in the overall decor of the room.

Note! A good visual increase in space can be achieved by abandoning conventional fabric curtains.

They "eat up" a lot of space and accumulate dust. Instead of them, we suggest installing rolled or, which look harmoniously both on their own and in combination with light tulle.

Lighting

Needed in a small room arrange lighting so that there are no darkened corners. For this, spotlights are good. When you need a lot of bright light, turn on all the lights, and if necessary, you can turn off some.

In recent years, such housing has been actively built, and its main feature can be called a very small size. Compared to the studio, some one-room apartments seem like mansions. Of course, we are not talking about luxury apartments, where the area of such a studio can be 100 square meters. m.

Standard apartments are very small, and you need to put a bathroom, a kitchen, and a room in them.

It is not easy to deal with such a task. Of course, it is necessary to fence off the toilet and bathroom from the rest of the space. But the kitchen and the room can be arranged as a living-dining room.

Option one

Until about four years old, the child wants to be close to his mother, so no partitions between parts of the room are needed. Let the division be only visual. It can be different wallpapers, children's furniture in bright colors or a colorful rug on the floor. In a word, we make the design in such a way as if these are completely different rooms in a single space.

Option two

It is better to use it for a grown child starting from 5 years old. At this age, he can sleep on the second floor. We mean children's complexes, consisting of a closet, all kinds of racks and a bed upstairs. Firstly, they save a lot of space, and secondly, they form a real corner for the child. There will fit all his things, books, toys and a comfortable bed.

This complex can be positioned so that it separates the parents' bed from the nursery. It should be noted that a place for the child should be arranged next to the window, as the baby needs good lighting.

Parents can be offered additional lamps that will decorate the room and make it more comfortable.

Option three

To equip a mini nursery, you can build a wall of drywall. This method is ideal when the child has grown up and needs personal space. If the room is large, then it can be easily turned into two by installing a partition and sliding doors. During the day they can be opened so that the light from the window illuminates the entire room, and closed in the evening. The result is a separate cozy corner for an independent child.

How to design the entire apartment

Bedroom

Women approach the design of the bedroom very carefully, thinking through every little thing. First of all, we choose a bed with a comfortable mattress. With a tight financial situation, you want to save on everything. When buying a bed, keep in mind that any frame can be purchased, without frills.

Attention from an inexpensive bed can always be diverted by a beautiful bedspread or other interior details.

The main thing is not to be stingy when choosing a mattress, otherwise no design will please you!

Bedside tables are usually placed near the bed for convenience, but you can find a bed with shelves at the head. This will leave more free space.

In general, it all depends on the chosen style and possibilities. In a large room, you can put an oak carved chest of drawers, bedside tables, trellis, and drape the windows with blackout curtains.

Most often, the smallest room is reserved for the bedroom, and as always, you have to dodge to fit everything and not forget about style.

One of the key points in design is the choice of a leading color.

It is clear that the hostess will choose the most favorite color for this room, and no one will dare to object.

However, there a few rules for choosing colors for the bedroom:

 • Do not stop at one shade, as it can get boring over time. It is better to combine it with two or three similar colors or with white.
 • Avoid sharp contrasts, this will prevent you from relaxing and relaxing.
 • Be careful with bright colors. They are well suited for a young couple, but they will quickly tire the elderly. If you like red, burgundy orange or any other bright colors, then it is best to pick up small details of the interior of the selected shade. It can be a frame for photos or pictures, a vase, a floor lamp or a drawing on bed linen.
 • Do not use more than three colors.

Living room

What should be in the living room? After all, friends, relatives gather there, and I want everyone to be comfortable.

Means, you need a large, roomy sofa, if the size of the room allows, then a corner. It is likely that guests will eat and drink something, and for this it is necessary. There are folding tables that occupy a minimum of space when folded, but help out during the holidays. They fit well.

Large armchairs should not be placed in a cramped living room, they clutter up the room. Instead, we recommend using small soft chairs or ottomans.

To make the room look stylish, not tired of excessive variegation, or, conversely, not look faded and boring, you need to highlight the main detail of the interior.

It could be:

 • window;
 • TV set;
 • furniture.

We focus on one thing with the help of color, pattern or bright accessories, and leave the rest of the elements neutral.

The living room should be well lit, so you can hang a chandelier with several powerful bulbs or equip spotlights. If the first option is a classic, then the second is a fashion trend followed by modern lovers. Accordingly, choosing one style in the interior, you need to follow it to the end. For a classic living room, a large spectacular chandelier is suitable, and for a modern style, small built-in lamps.

Floor lamps, sconces and table lamps will be a great addition to the decor, they make the room cozy and suitable for a quiet family evening.

Kitchen

In most families, the kitchen is one of the most visited places in the house. Here we cook, and eat, and communicate after work, and even receive close friends.

The kitchen holds a huge variety of things. Our goal is to decorate the interior so that nothing interferes, and everything is at hand.

One of the best inventions of modern science is built-in household appliances. It is ideal for both spacious and miniature kitchens.

The floor in the kitchen is best tiled, as it is durable, easy to maintain and serves as an additional decoration.

In the photo we see an example of a small kitchen. The small set perfectly combines fashionable bright color with neutral tones. This is correct, since in a limited space, all-orange furniture would look unnecessarily “aggressive”. The stove and sink are conveniently located here, as well as the space under the window. This is a good design find. By removing the window sill, we get additional space for cabinets and drawers. Instead, you can put a small dining table, and place a refrigerator on the right.

This option also successfully used the space around the window and under it. If the wall is wide, we can place the kitchen set around the window. It is very pleasant to look outside while cooking and cleaning. In addition, this way of placing the working area frees up space for a dining table and a refrigerator. This set will appeal to connoisseurs of natural wood and calm natural tones. See also our material on choosing furniture. They should serve for many years, because their replacement will cost very, very expensive.

Bathroom Design Rules

 • For walls and floors, choose ceramic tiles or mosaics.
 • We paint the ceiling with high-quality paint or make it suspended.
 • We care about good lighting.

To improve the appearance of the bathroom, modern designers have come up with the idea of hiding all communications when decorating the walls. Looks very aesthetic!

Corridor

The design of the corridor should be the most practical! Coming from the street, you can accidentally touch the wall with your foot and stain, scratch expensive wallpaper. The child will also touch furniture, walls and mirrors with dirty hands.

How to arrange a corridor so that it is beautiful and practical?

Design Options

 • The walls are covered with decorative plaster. Now there are many beautiful shades on which you can apply various patterns. And such walls can be wiped with a damp cloth.
 • We use artificial stone. This material looks very stylish and unusual. Plus, it's very practical.
 • We sheathe the walls plastic or wood panels.

It is worth recalling about lighting. In a long corridor, you need to hang several shades or one powerful chandelier.

It is important that the color of the furniture is in harmony with.

How to organize repairs in the apartment

We decided to renovate the entire apartment. This is, of course, a difficult matter. Where to begin?

 • Imagine what each room should look like. Let's draw a plan. We will consider the color scheme, materials, and whether we will change the furniture and curtains.
 • We will start work with the most significant places in the apartment: bathroom, toilet and kitchen. There, most of all, garbage and waste is generated, and a lot of time is spent on arrangement.
 • We select materials, calculate the required quantity and proceed. If you need to lay out tiles, entrust it only to specialists!
 • Next, let's move on to the rooms. Any convenient order is possible here.
 • We leave the repair of the corridor in the end.

If there are any difficulties with the design or execution of work, we will consult with professionals.

Most residents of cities - large and small, peripheral and metropolitan areas, most often are the owners of small apartments. But how do you want to organize even this space so that the interior is fully comfortable, cozy, ergonomic and beautiful! It is believed that for the most efficient use of the space of a small apartment, its layout should be organized as simply as possible. It is undesirable to oversaturate the space functionally. Each room should have its own purpose. It is not necessary to unite them contrary to the prevailing stereotype of open space, but on the contrary, to separate the living area and kitchen, living room and bedroom.

Design tricks to visually increase the space

So, where does the transformation of a small apartment into a cozy, comfortable and functional home begin? That's right, from drawing up a simple project that you can sketch on a piece of paper yourself.

Of course, unfortunately, it will not be possible to physically solve the problem of space shortage, but it is still worth trying to make housing more ergonomic and comfortable for life. Moreover, a lot of positive feedback from the owners, who decided to resort to small design tricks that help visually increase the space in their apartment, speaks of their successful experience.

Corridor and hallway

When decorating the interior design of your small apartment, it would be appropriate to use neutral and simple things. However, these things can be simple and at the same time stylish or even designer. Also, do not complicate and clutter up an already small space. For such apartments, the most suitable style is - in the interior of which there are only the most necessary things, and other unnecessary junk is thrown away.

The main task of pieces of furniture is to make the most of the free space of the rooms along the walls, while using corners and hidden volumes. So, for example, a corner cabinet, visually taking up little space, will accommodate a fairly large number of items, and self-extending shelves will facilitate access to it.

Having thought through every little thing, you can get a functional and stylish art object that attracts attention

Objects built into each other will allow you to store them more compactly outside of use, the main thing is that their appearance is not complicated and intricate. It is appropriate if the furniture of one room is made in the same style and from the same materials or companion materials.

narrow corridor will not be cluttered if the shoes are not placed on the floor, but in a special shoe rack, which is compact, spacious enough and closed.

In general, the fewer open surfaces on which objects are located, the more neat and uncluttered the design of a small apartment looks.

Bathroom

bathroom space will save the competent placement of all its elements. It is convenient to put the washing machine under the shelf on which the accessories for washing will be stored. This shelf can be multi-storey, which will allow you to place rarely used or purchased hygiene products for the future.

The place under the washbasin can be used to store towels and a basket with things, under the bathroom - buckets, brushes, cleaners or other plumbing products.

Kitchen

In the kitchen, the place above the refrigerator is often overlooked, on which you can install a cabinet with shelves for storing rarely used dishes. The narrow space between a base cabinet or a cabinet and a wall works well for a pull-out shelf that can hold pot lids, rolling pins, and other compact items.

It is undoubtedly better to use color for decorating a small kitchen, this will visually expand the space. Tall wall cabinets will also visually increase the height and overall volume of the kitchen. The dining table is better to have a sliding one, which will unload the space. When 1-2 family members take food, the table can not be moved apart, when the whole family gathers at dinner - increase its size.

It's a good idea to have a pair of folding chairs that can be stored hanging on hooks behind a door or in a pull-out structure between floor cabinets. These chairs can be pulled out as needed and do not take up space when not in use.

Living room

The living area, if possible, should be divided into separate rooms reserved for the bedroom and living room. Having your own private bedroom creates a feeling of comfort, security and stability.

The device of modern beds allows you to use all its elements. lower part- for storage of overall things or bedding. headboard- as a shelf, and sometimes even a bedside table, on which you can place night lamps (or reading lights), favorite photos, souvenirs brought from travels.

If a room layout has a niche, it is advisable to install a cabinet in it. It is better if it occupies the entire space from floor to ceiling. Then it will conveniently and easily accommodate all things - seasonal and everyday. Mirrors are perfect for cabinet doors. This will visually enlarge the room and avoid installing a separate dressing table.

If the layout of the room does not involve a niche, then you can install a corner cabinet. Such a design will not visually be cumbersome, while allowing the use of hard-to-reach corner space.

If nevertheless apartment layout forces you to combine the living room and bedroom, then you need to more carefully approach the choice of the sofa and the mechanism for its unfolding. It is worth giving preference to a reliable and convenient design, because you will have to use it daily. It is also necessary to provide for the presence of a built-in box for storing bedding.

Children's room

Under it you need to highlight the brightest room in the apartment. The one that receives most of the day sunlight. Let it be small, but bright room. The table is needed for children of any age, and you need to place it by the window. It would be quite advantageous to use a single plane with a window sill as a countertop.

This will save money and make it interesting to beat the workplace, and place bookshelves along the side walls to the right and left of the window, which can accommodate not only a children's library, but also a family one.

If there are two children or the room is very small, then it makes sense to install a loft bed. In the first case, another sleeping place will fit under it, in the second, a place will be freed up for games or storing toys. Based on the size of the rooms - the master bedroom and the nursery - you need to determine the place to store the children's clothes.

If it does not allow you to place a wardrobe in it, and in the parents' room it is roomy enough, then all children's things can be stored in it. And for everyday things and underwear, allocate a couple of closed shelves in the closet for books or toys in the nursery. This is especially true when children are still small, and parents choose clothes. For teenage children, it is already necessary to allocate a separate storage place (wardrobe). The main requirement for furniture for children is reliability, security and environmental friendliness!

Choosing shades for decorating a child's room, do not forget that the child in it not only spends leisure time, but also studies and rests. Therefore, the desire to dress everything up in bright elements and colored paints can turn into fatigue and excessive excitability of the child.

Zone the space, decorate brightly that part of the room in which the child will play, where his toys are stored. And if the furniture in the nursery is already quite colorful, then it is better to make the surfaces of the walls and the floor in soothing light colors.

materials

Now a few words about the choice of materials and shades for interior design of an apartment with a small area.

In a small apartment, you need to give preference to light colors and balancing pattern geometry. With irregular shapes of rooms (long and narrow), short walls can visually stretch the horizontal lines in the wallpaper pattern, as well as a lighter shade of relatively long walls.

The floors in such a room are preferably parallel to short walls (if it is a laminate or parquet board). In the case of linoleum, a pattern with a horizontal transverse direction is suitable.

Visually raise the ceiling will help design it in a white or light shade, as well as vertical geometry on the walls. Verticality does not imply the presence of strict verified lines.

Such an ornament will be boring and dull. Give preference to a pattern that is only perceived as a whole, as a vertical direction.

Its elements themselves can be abstract or of a favorite theme. Do not use saturated colors, rough and colorful fragments. If all the walls of the room are decorated in pastel colors, then one of them can be distinguished. To do this, it is good to use companion wallpapers, photo wallpapers, frescoes. The main thing is that the drawing should not be too loaded and heavy.

Hidden in the wall bed - a great choice for a small room

Lighting

Take care of sufficient lighting in the apartment. A poorly lit room kind of "hides" the dark areas, creating a feeling of even smaller space. A central flat-shaped source is suitable as central lighting if the ceiling is too low (less than 2.5 meters).

Point sources on the ceiling are always appropriate, operating from one control center, evenly illuminating the entire room. In the rooms you can additionally use sconce and table lamps if they correlate with the main lamp. The less diverse and discordant with each other interior items in the room, the simpler and more spacious it seems. In a small apartment, compartment doors or accordion doors will also be very appropriate. Then in the open state they will not take up much space.

The variety and availability of modern finishing materials and materials for the manufacture of furniture allows you to overcome the limitations imposed by square meters. Properly planning the space, you can always visually compensate for its volume.

And following the simple tips outlined in this article, you can organize your interior of a small apartment comfortably, comfortably, and most importantly, as functionally as possible.
