Making double-glazed windows with your own hands. Homemade wooden double-glazed windows

Making wooden windows with double-glazed windows with your own hands is a laborious process and requires a lot of time and effort. However, the result will please. Firstly, such windows perfectly retain heat in the room. Secondly, the wooden base allows air to pass through, as they say, “breathes”. Thirdly, wood has high sound insulation performance, in combination with high-quality double-glazed windows, it will achieve almost complete noise isolation in any conditions. Fourth, environmentally friendly material is completely safe. Video:

How to make a double-glazed window with your own hands

Double-glazed windows have gained unprecedented popularity in recent years due to their technical features. What is needed for self-production of double-glazed windows?

  • Double-sided mounting tape (1-2 mm thick);
  • sealant or plasticine;
  • hardener;
  • catalyst;
  • cleaner.

To bond the glass, a special styrene-based binder is used, which can be prepared at home. To do this, you need methyl ethyl ketone peroxide in a 36 percent dimethyl phthalate solution, this element plays the role of a hardener, as well as a cleaner and toner (synthetic paint).

The volume of the binder is calculated depending on such factors as the thickness of the mounting tape and the dimensions of the glass: for a tape with a thickness of 1 mm and 1 sq.m. glass will require a liter of composite.

Advice! It is recommended to prepare the solution in a container with a scale - this simplifies the measurement of the components.

In a clean plastic bowl, mix the components, then add the hardener. The dosage is calculated taking into account the temperature, the higher, the greater the percentage (from 1% at + 24 degrees to 2% at 12 degrees).

If you want to paint the glass in any color, for example, to create a tinting effect, then a toner paint is added to the solution, the dosage of which is not more than 5%.

The solution is thoroughly mixed and left for 15-20 minutes. This is done so that the air comes out, and no bubbles form on the surface.

The first step is the preparation of glasses. Cut out two glasses of the same size according to the size of the window. The surface is thoroughly washed with a glass cleaner, and then wiped dry with a paper towel or newspaper.

Important! The tape should be glued so that there is a small gap at the corners. To do this, it is necessary to retreat 2-3 mm from the edge of the glass.

Remove the protective layer from the tape and attach the second glass joint to joint. Press lightly on the surface for better adhesion. Next, the glass is poured with a solution-component. For this, the glasses are moved apart, a funnel is inserted inside the double-glazed window.

Important! When gluing the tape, leave space for the funnel. To do this, the ends of the adhesive tape are brought out, and the protective layer is not removed.

To make the filling of the reagent convenient, it is necessary to position the structure at an angle. A wooden block is placed under it. Liquid is poured through a funnel. After the double-glazed window is completely filled with the component, the funnel opening is sealed. The funnel is removed, and the remnants of the protection of the mounting tape are removed.

If bubbles are found inside, they are removed with a medical syringe with a needle. The double-glazed window is sealed around the perimeter and left to dry completely - this will take 2-3 hours. This method will save money on the purchase of finished double-glazed windows.

How to install a wooden window with double glazing

After the double-glazed window is ready or, as an option, it is bought ready-made, it must be fixed in a wooden frame. This manipulation is performed using a sealant. In order for the appearance of the window to be aesthetic, it is recommended to use a colorless sealant. That's all the window is ready.

The installation of a wooden window with a double-glazed window has a number of features, which are determined depending on the type of opening and the material of the house where the window is placed.

The technology of installing a wooden window in a building made of brick or concrete

Stage number 1. Analysis and preparation of the opening. The window opening must have a clear geometry. To do this, all faces are checked using a level. Surfaces are cleaned of debris, irregularities are removed.

Stage number 2. Installing and fixing the window block in the opening. The frame is fixed with dowels or self-tapping screws, but, in no case, nails or mounting foam. The distance between the fasteners is 70-80 cm.

Stage number 3. Sealing. A double-glazed window may lose its properties if there are gaps between the frame and the box, so sealant treatment is a mandatory moment of installation. Compression tape is used as a sealing agent.

Stage number 4. It is imperative to carry out measures aimed at vapor barrier of the structure.

Stage number 5. Elimination of cracks and holes. The final stage is the foaming of the holes. Mounting foam will help to avoid the ingress of cold air, dust. After hardening, the foam is cut off with a mounting knife. From the outside, in order to avoid the destruction of the foam during operation under the influence of natural factors, they are sealed with tape, mounted with cashing or plastered.

Stage number 6. Installing the window sill. The slab must be made of hardwood (oak, beech).

Dimensions and design of the window sill are chosen by the user. However, it is worth remembering that the window sill should not protrude by more than 5-6 cm. If you want to expand the structure, then it must be strengthened.

Such double-glazed windows, inaccessible in the recent past of our country, are now used everywhere. They have become a necessary attribute of city life.

Double-glazed unit

A double-glazed window is a glass frame assembled from a special profile. If the product consists of two frames and three glasses, then it is called a "two-chamber" double-glazed window. The chamber is the space between the panes. There are single-chamber assemblies in which there is only one air gap.

The profile is hollow inside. There is a special diffusion perforation in its walls. A sticky adhesive is applied around the perimeter. In the cavity itself there is a special glass dryer. The profile is in most cases made of aluminum. But they are also made of galvanized steel and plastic.

There are windows that open with a swivel mechanism, there are with a folding device. There are also so-called "deaf" windows, those in which the glass is motionless. Consider how to make a double-glazed window at home.

What should be a double-glazed window

  • window glass must be perfectly clean
  • if the sound does not pass from the outside when the sash is tightly closed, then the package is of high quality
  • high thermal insulation
  • anti-burglary equipment possible
  • nice aesthetic look
  • frost resistance
  • environmental friendliness of materials

Production of double-glazed windows

If there is a need to save money and test your skills, then having an idea of \u200b\u200bhow to make a double-glazed window , it's easy to make it yourself. We will need the following materials and ingredients:

  • silicate glass
  • double sided tape
  • putty or plasticine
  • transparent binder based on styrene
  • solution of methyl ethyl ketone in dimethyl phthalate 36% (hardener)

First of all, we cut out pieces of exactly the same size from glass sheets. We process them to a state of perfect purity with ordinary water, then with a glass cleaner. We take a dry, clean, lint-free rag and rub the surfaces from all sides.

We stick double-sided tape on one of the canvases around the entire perimeter. It is very important that a gap of 2-3 mm is formed between the edges of the adhesive tape, in the corners of the glasses, and the ends of the tape do not touch.

We put a second sheet on top of the glass with adhesive tape and press them tightly against each other.

Next, you should make a binder component, which will be in the inter-glass space. The average consumption is as follows: if the mounting tape is 2 mm thick, then the binder component will need about 2 liters. per 1 sq.m

We prepare the composition in a plastic dish with a scale. Add a hardener of 1.5% by volume to the binder composition. If you wish, you can add toner paint to the composition (up to 5% of the total composition).

Thoroughly mix the ingredients, wait for the moment when all the air bubbles come out. Usually at least 5 minutes.

We prepare the glass for pouring: Let's move the canvases apart from the place where the adhesive tape with the protective surface remained. Carefully insert the funnel into the resulting opening. In order for the filling to be of high quality, with the help of a bar we will install glass sheets at the desired slope.

Pour the binder composition through the funnel, wait for the moment when it will force out all the air from the space between the panes. Remaining air can be removed using a medical syringe with a thin needle, inserting it between the glass and the mounting tape.

If you are sure that there is no air in the space between the panes, take out the funnel. It is necessary to press the glasses tightly against each other, having previously removed the remnants of the top coating of the double-sided adhesive tape. There will be a hole in the thickness of the adhesive tape. We will seal it (plasticine).

After about 2 hours, all the necessary processes will take place, and the double-glazed window will be ready.

The frame in which to insert the resulting product depends on the choice of the owner. You can buy a specialized profile, you can use wooden blocks with grooves.

What is a glass pane? In our view, this is a window structure with a double-glazed window, although the window structure can be filled not only with a double-glazed window, but also with ordinary glass. A double-glazed window is one integral structure, which consists of a set of glasses of the same size, superimposed on each other through a spacer frame:

What is needed for the manufacture of double-glazed windows: glass 4 mm thick; a special profile for the distance frame, a layer with butyl is applied on both end sides, which is protected by a film (it is convenient to work with a flexible profile); special connecting corners; air dryer (absorbent): silica gel, granular zeolite, molecular sieve; two-component sealant (polyurethane, polysulfide). Table or workbench with a flat surface; good quality glass cutter, if the glass is large, then a roller quick cutter; ruler up to 1.5 meters long.

  • carefully cut the glass to the desired size,
  • wash the glass thoroughly so that no imprints and streaks remain on it, dry it well, you can use a household hair dryer,
  • cut a metal profile to assemble the distance frame (do not remove the protective film from the ends!). Important: the assembled frame should be 10 - 15 mm smaller than the glass dimensions,
  • assemble the spacer frame by connecting with connecting corners, but the profile must be filled with a desiccant: insert a connecting corner from one end, then pour the desiccant through the open hole at the other end so that 1/4 of the profile remains empty. Close it with a connecting corner, put on the next bar of an empty profile, fill it with absorbent like the previous one, close it with a corner and in this way assemble the spacer frame into one structure,
  • assemble a double-glazed window: put the first glass on the table, a frame on it (remove the protective film with a butyl layer applied) so that the indentation from the edge of the glass is the same around the entire perimeter (our frame is smaller in size than the glass). Remove the protective film from the upper end of the frame on which the second glass will be glued. Do everything carefully, carefully so that the glasses are not displaced relative to each other,

  • for a tight connection of glass with butyl, carefully compress the assembled double-glazed window,
  • the outer end of the bag must be filled with a two-component sealant. Apply the sealant with a spatula along the outer perimeter of the bag, without gaps,
  • The sealant must dry for at least 12 hours. After that, remove the sags, irregularities around the entire perimeter of the package.

The glass pane is ready.

A double-glazed window or an eurowindow?... A double-glazed window consists of two or more glasses, between which there is an adsorbent (a shiny perforated piece filled with coal or silica gel; its purpose is to absorb free moisture). All of this is sealed with silicone rubber. Dry air is inside. Something similar can be done at home. Profile: ... Here is a much more complicated profile. We need accessories, machines, etc. I think it's better to order!

The first association that arises when mentioning eurowindows is single-chamber or two-chamber white PVC structures. It is these windows that are in most apartments and private houses, replacing outdated frame structures. An alternative to plastic windows, inferior to wooden ones in terms of environmental friendliness, but winning in terms of performance, are Euro-windows made of wood. They have impressive parameters, and the appearance is on the level, and they are “friendly” with the environment. Unlike plastic, a wooden window box with a proud prefix "euro" can be made independently. Making wooden windows with your own hands is a common thing for many FORUMHOUSE users.

Do-it-yourself Eurowindow

Eurowindow - what is it and how is it done

Eurowindow is a structure consisting of a frame, a double-glazed window and perimeter fittings controlled by a handle.

Perimeter fittings are a prefabricated harness, completed from several parts mounted around the entire perimeter of the profile. It provides locking of the sash at several points, using one handle, which allows you to achieve the most snug fit and eliminates blowing. Thanks to this fitting, a window with an opening sash can operate in two modes - turning and tilt-and-turn. In the rotary mode, the window opens only by turning, in the combined mode, the window sash opens and leans back.

The fundamental structural difference between "euro" and ordinary windows is one frame, in which several double-glazed windows can stand. The main of the technical characteristics of the "euro" is complete tightness, achieved through various seals. Thermal conductivity will also depend on the number of air chambers, and on the type of glass in the double-glazed window, and on the correct installation of the window. Therefore, the material from which the profile is made does not play a significant role, the functionality of the structure and its characteristics are important.

DIY wooden windows

The process of manufacturing a wooden euro-window will require certain financial investments - the cost of wood, components, equipment. Window double-glazed windows are also easier to order from professionals, although some craftsmen manage to assemble this assembly on their own. But even taking into account the impressive cost of the finished product, which belongs to the elite, and therefore quite expensive products, the savings will be substantial. When it comes to building a new house or full glazing of an old one, the difference can be tens of thousands.

Materials, tools, drawings, connection of elements

Windows are constantly exposed to external influences and temperature differences inside and outside, which inevitably leads to a change in the geometry of the structure when it comes to wood. To minimize possible warping, frames and sashes are made not from solid timber, but from glued. You can buy ready-made, if there are reliable suppliers, or you can glue it yourself. In the second case, a workpiece of at least three lamellas is collected, so that the fibers are directed in opposite directions. If possible, choose radial sawn wood, tangential "leads" stronger. For gluing, use special, moisture-resistant compounds.

The cross section of the beam is chosen based on the number of double-glazed windows - for a window with one chamber, a beam of 6x4 cm is usually used. Under production conditions, grooves are chosen in the frame not only for the double-glazed window and external seals, but also for internal ones. One of the former manufacturers of wooden eurowindows shared his drawings, by simplifying which you can get high-quality structures that are almost as good as finished ones. In order to make, the drawings are quite suitable.

Considering that not everyone has professional equipment, and its purchase will nullify all savings and is justified only for the purpose of making windows for sale, home craftsmen choose grooves for double-glazed windows, external seals and fittings.

For these purposes, a milling cutter, a circular saw, a hand tool for finishing are used. Members of our portal are equipped with all necessary devices and Ravildon decided to make a window with his brother (nickname Halva senior) for his house.

Ravildon Member of FORUMHOUSE

We had manual, machine tools and other devices. We welded the table, attached a manual milling cutter to it, bought a micro-thorn cutter and a movable carriage, decided to dial the profile in length and thickness. A purchased profile costs from 1,600 rubles for six meters, so we will trim the finished timber, glue it, then gain in thickness.

Halva Senior Member of FORUMHOUSE

They made such a pepelats: I had guides with carriages lying around, welded the frame, attached a manual circular to the movable table, and it turned out to be the simplest impost. The grooves are rectangular, so you can do without shaped cutters. The cutting depth is regulated by a movable stop, the height - by a set of plates and rectangular pipes. The groove was cut in five passes, changing the linings, finished with a file.

The brothers trained on waste, the results were recorded in a journal in order to choose the most successful option in the future. And as they filled their hands, they began to manufacture the frames themselves.

Our other forum member used ready-made glued beams. The photos show this whole process in detail.

cyan__ Member FORUMHOUSE

I passed the purchased timber through a thickness gauge and trimming, on a circular with a home-made fixture (a high parallel stop with guides and rulers of 0.5 mm each) I made spikes and a profile, glued it, chose the fitting grooves with a milling cutter, hung the fittings - I checked how it works, removed it, polished for painting. There are no special tricks, but you must either have experience in carpentry, or first make a few frames for ejection - practice.

Since the double-glazed window is planned to be two-chamber, the total cross-section of the beam turned out to be 80x78 mm.

If equipment and experience allow, frame elements are cut obliquely, at an angle of 45⁰, and can be joined without a bevel, although less decorative, but technically easier. The parts are assembled on a spike-groove connection, with the vertical parts being lugs, and the horizontal ones being spikes. It is easier to make a single connection, but a double one is stronger and more durable, as the gluing area increases, and a triple spike is even stronger. When there is one spike, it is worth additionally reinforcing the frame with a corner, since the double-glazed window significantly burdens the structure.

Member of our portal cyan__ tells how to make a wooden window using a three-stud connection.

cyan__

I made three spikes for myself and put them on PU D4 glue, on another glue and one spike under a double-glazed window, I would probably put a corner. As a test, you can glue one corner and test it for strength and deformation by loading it along the hypotenuse with a mass of one and a half double-glazed windows. Then it will become clear whether additional reinforcement is needed.

Corner templates

Halva senior I collected a box of two lamellas to make it easier to choose quarters and grooves for seals with a circular saw. Dried timber of the required thickness, neither solid nor glued, was on sale at that time, I had to get by with a material with a smaller cross section. But the beam was dry, already jointed from all sides. The frames were glued to a smooth fugue due to the lack of a comb of suitable width. To insure, the design was reinforced with self-tapping screws - obliquely, from the edge to the center (the fastener heads will later be hidden by a quarter). After the final purge with pneumatics, the finished frames were given to the eldest son for fine-tuning - for puttying

Industrially made windows are no better than the so-called do-it-yourself windows - the photo confirms this.

Grooves for fittings in the sashes are selected based on its variety and dimensions. To make your job easier, Halva senior I made metal templates, according to which I chose all the necessary grooves.

Halva senior

Before cutting the tenon groove, I prepared the grooves for the locks - I made a template from a bent steel corner. Holes - with a diameter of 8 mm, a hole for wrapping - with a diameter of 10 mm. First, marking the centers, then we drill 8 holes - a depth of 26 mm. I set the stop and combined the holes into a groove with a manual milling cutter, dimensions: depth 28 mm, width 8 mm. I managed without limiters in length - the boundaries of the groove are felt to the touch.

Chamfers, assembly, finishing

A cut or rounded corner is covered with a thicker layer of paints and varnishes than a sharp one, therefore, it is more resistant to all external influences. forum member Sukhov76 who made wooden windows for himself, advises his own way.

Sukhov76 Member of FORUMHOUSE

Instead of chamfers under 45⁰, it is better to round the corner to a radius of 3 mm - it looks more aesthetically pleasing and lies well under the paint. Paints and varnishes are “afraid” of sharp edges, according to the law of surface tension, on sharp surfaces the layer of coatings is thinner, and according to the law of meanness, it is the edges that are the most vulnerable in operation, and the coating is erased faster, while at the radius the layer is even and it is harder to damage it.

The assembled window frames and sashes are sanded and treated with special impregnations, then varnished or painted. In order for each subsequent layer to fit well and hold for a long time, all compositions used must be on the same basis, water, etc. The glass in the frame is fixed with glazing beads.

It is not enough to make a window with your own hands - the video on our portal will teach you how to paint it correctly in order to protect the surface for many years!

For the second floor of your house cyan__ he also made wooden windows himself, according to the technology already given. After the blanks were cut, grooves and tenon joints were selected, holes for fittings and frames were assembled, the final part remained - finishing and installing glass.

cyan__

Primed and painted the outer white side. Then, having removed the paint drip on the masking tape by grinding in a couple of places - internal, translucent. Stain is not paint, it is easy to wipe off with a wet cloth on the white side. I installed the glass on the spacers and nailed the glazing beads - a copper-plated nail looks good after even ten cm. I sealed it with neutral (this is important) silicone, acidic can destroy the sealant of the package. I turned it over onto a sheet of foam rubber and sealed the back side, mounted the fittings, mounting plates and inserted it into the opening. The final step was to adjust the sash and insert the seals into the grooves.

Conclusion

Making a wooden window with your own hands is an opportunity not only to save money, but to prove yourself. For many years, a beautiful, eco-friendly design will remind you not of the money spent, but of your own craftsmanship.

Everything related to the technical parameters and features of euro windows, as well as step-by-step instructions, diagrams, installation subtleties and characteristics of products from different manufacturers are discussed in the section Details of the manufacture of wooden windows mentioned in the article are laid out step by step in the topic "". After studying the article about, you will learn how to get a high-quality and durable timber for future frames. How to replace wooden windows with your own hands without dismantling the old frame - a video about the new technology answers this question.

“The weather in the house” largely depends on the condition of the windows. Most often, apartment owners prefer double-glazed windows, fortunately, in each city there are a dozen or two companies ready to provide such a service. People in such cases usually do not skimp, but still there are situations when repairs are needed urgently, but there is no large amount of money at hand. How to be? A do-it-yourself double-glazed window is quite possible, and now you will see it.

What to build from?

Of course, before you make a double-glazed window with your own hands, it makes sense to think about what you will make it from. And first of all you will need two things:

  • frame;
  • glass.

Important! The main advantage of a double-glazed window compared to a conventional window is tightness. Air enters the room exactly as much as you want, no more and no less.

It is quite difficult to insert glass into an ordinary wooden frame so that there are not even microscopic cracks anywhere. But with a very strong desire, this is also possible, then your most ordinary window will turn into a European-type double-glazed window. However, frames can be not only wooden. Professionals use aluminum for them most often. Compared to other metals, it has a couple of very significant advantages:

  • harder to damage
  • it's easier to work with him.

In fact, you get wooden windows with double-glazed windows with your own hands - in this case, the drawings are not at all necessary, the main thing is to take the dimensions correctly.

aluminum frames

Before you make a double-glazed window with your own hands at home, try to get everything you need. This is not only glass and a profile, they are usually not forgotten about. But you will need some more materials and tools:

  • folding rule (it is better to use it than a tape measure);
  • pencil;
  • paint knife;
  • glass cutter;
  • roller quick cutter;
  • paper;
  • hacksaw for metal;
  • corners to connect the frame;
  • silica gel;
  • two-component sealant;
  • double-sided tape (transparent) or butyl tape;
  • wiper;
  • dryer.

We take measurements

Are you going to put your magnificent double-glazed window into an existing frame? Excellent, but still need to take measurements:

  1. Measure the height of the frame along the inside edge.
  2. Measure its width also along the inner edge.
  3. Subtract 1 cm from each result - these will be the dimensions that you need if you are only going to make a double-glazed window from an aluminum profile with your own hands.

We cut blanks

The next step is cutting the aluminum profile. If you have a hacksaw for metal, the process will not take much time. Cut 4 pieces:

  • 2 for uprights;
  • 2 for horizontal bars.

Of course, the top and bottom bars should be the same, as well as the left and right.

Important! The slightest deviation can make the manufacture of double-glazed windows pointless, but this must be clarified before pulling out the old glass.

Assembling the frame

To fix the frame of your future double-glazed window, you need corners. It is better to buy them together with the profile, because they must fit in width. But if the profile is wide, there may not be corners of the right size. Then we do it easier - we buy thinner ones, but we double the quantity. And we put them in pairs.

Is the frame ready? That's wonderful. Now you can safely pour silica gel into the grooves - such small granules. Why exactly them? They are great at absorbing moisture. So your double-glazed window, which you decide to make with your own hands, will be completely sealed.

The subtleties of frame manufacturing

For a person who for the first time took up the manufacture of a double-glazed window with his own hands, the question inevitably arises, how to fill in this same silica gel - granules designed to drain the space inside the profile? This is done in this order:

  1. Put a corner on one end, and pour the granules through the hole on the other edge. A quarter of the volume should remain empty.
  2. Close the open edge with a corner.
  3. Attach the next piece already filled with desiccant.

Cutting glass correctly

How to make a double-glazed window with your own hands at home without glass? No way. At the same time, the glass must be cut, and not somehow, but strictly according to the dimensions that you took for the first time, without taking anything away. If you are not very experienced in such matters or you do not have a good tool, it is better to turn to specialists. Now many workshops offer similar services, you can do this at the hardware store where you bought the components.

If it is not possible to contact the workshop, you will have to cut it yourself, for which you need a good glass cutter. If you have to deal with large surfaces, you will have to get a roller quick cutter.

The procedure will be like this:

  1. Prepare the table - it should be large and almost perfectly flat.
  2. Cover it with a thick cloth, preferably cotton.
  3. Prepare a long ruler - one and a half meters, no less.
  4. Take measurements from the window opening.
  5. Prepare the glass - it should be 4 mm thick.
  6. Wash and clean glass for maximum transparency.

Surface preparation

Nothing will work with dirty glass. What you will be inserting into the frame must be cleaned very carefully. Use for this:

  • window cleaners;
  • soft sponges;
  • solvents;
  • alcohol.

Important! Regardless of which glass you insert, it is better to wash it with a soft sponge. Be sure to read the instructions on the detergent. Of course, there should be no scratches, stains or other contaminants. The edges are best degreased.

We collect a double-glazed window with our own hands

If you have everything ready and even the silica gel granules have already taken their places, proceed with the assembly:

  1. Glue the edge of the frame with double-sided transparent tape.
  2. Remove the protective layer.
  3. Attach glass.
  4. Press the edges.
  5. Do the same on the other side.

Professionals usually use butyl tape instead of scotch tape, and an amateur can do the same, but you need to be very careful and accurate. Both adhesive tape and butyl tape will stick instantly, so immediately after the glass is inserted, it can be glued. To do this, apply a two-component sealant around the edges and insert your work into the frame. Your aluminum profile double-glazed window is ready.

Important! You need to glue the adhesive tape immediately so that you do not have to re-paste - this is not an easy task.

Double glazing

If you need a double-glazed window, there should be two frames. They are made in the same way. After both halves are ready, the glass is laid on the table, the film is removed from the end of the profile if butyl tape has already been pasted there.

  1. Remove the film from the top surface of the frame.
  2. Put the second glass on the frame - check that it is flush with the first.
  3. Do the same with the second frame.
  4. Crimp the double-glazed window - butyl should stick tightly to the glass.
  5. Fill the outer end of the double-glazed window with polyurethane-polysulfide sealant - this is done with a special spatula.
  6. Wait approximately 12 hours (or whatever the sealant package says).
  7. Remove the remaining sealant and sand.

Do-it-yourself wooden double-glazed window

You can make a double-glazed window with your own hands and from the most ordinary wooden frame - the same one that is already in the windows, or a new one. It all depends on how well it is preserved. What do you need for this kind of work? For glass - everything is the same as when working with a metal profile. But wooden frames have their own characteristics, so prepare the following:

  • double-sided mounting tape:
  • plasticine (replaced with sealant);
  • hardener;
  • catalyst;
  • glass cleaner.

Confused about how to make wooden windows with double-glazed windows with your own hands, take care of the binder first. It can be done with your own hands. You need:

  • methyl ethyl ketone peroxide dissolved in dimethyl phthalate (concentration 36%);
  • synthetic paint;
  • wiper.

Making a sealant

  • mounting tape thickness;
  • glass sizes.

For example, in order to paste over with a tape having a thickness of 1 mm, a piece of glass measuring 1 square meter, you need a liter of substance. As for the process itself, it is best to use a large volume plastic measuring cup:

  1. Wash the cup properly.
  2. Mix these ingredients.
  3. Add hardener.
  4. If desired, add toner, but a little - from 1 to 5%.
  5. Stir the solution.
  6. Leave it to stand for twenty minutes.

Cooking glass

Working with glass is no different from that described for a metal profile. Glass must be thoroughly washed, cleaned of contaminants - in a word, it must become perfectly transparent. After the surface is washed, it must be thoroughly dried with paper towels, newspaper or something similar - in a word, with what you usually wash windows.

  1. Paste the glass around the perimeter with mounting tape, making small gaps at the corners - 2-3 mm from the edge of the glass, no more.
  2. Remove the protective layer from the tape.
  3. Attach the second glass, aligning the edges.
  4. Squeeze the glasses so that the tape adheres properly.
  5. Pour the substance that you have recently prepared between the glasses - this is done quite simply if you insert a funnel between the glasses and put the glass itself at an angle.
  6. Completely fill the space and hermetically close the opening of the funnel, while pulling it out.
  7. Remove excess mounting tape.
  8. Place the double-glazed window on a large flat table and secure.
  9. Bubbles, if they appear, remove with a syringe.
  10. Seal the structure around the perimeter - and let it dry for a couple of hours.

Insert into the frame

Such a double-glazed window can be inserted into a wooden frame in two ways:

  • like ordinary glass;
