Making a plywood dollhouse. We make a house for barbie with our own hands How to make a toy house out of wood

The dream of any girl is a big beautiful dollhouse, equipped with all interior items, a very expensive pleasure.

Not everyone can buy it in the store.

However, you can make a dollhouse with your own hands, and if you involve your daughter in the process, then working together will bring pleasure to the whole family.

In order to start manufacturing, you must first resolve the issue with the dimensions and material of the future design. Then draw up a house project, make drawings for sawing or cutting out, think over and select materials for finishing, consider options for fastening and installing the entire structure. It is important that it be stable and able to withstand small "shocks".

The size will depend on the height of the dolls that will "live" there, as well as on the possibilities of the room. After all, an apartment for half a room will take up too much space, limiting the hostess.

At the same time, a very small design will be more difficult to manufacture and finish, because working with small details is not easy.

For ease of use, the height of the ceilings is set at the level of twice the height of the doll, then it will be easy to move it around the rooms and install it inside. Higher ceilings are welcome, they will make the game even more interesting.

The depth of the rooms is determined based on the growth of the dolls and the need for free space for items inside the house. On average, it is 30-45 centimeters, but it can be more. The width is calculated based on the number of rooms for dolls and the volume of the room.

The shape of the house usually resembles a rectangle, elongated in height or width, it all depends on the manufacturer's imagination. For a large structure, you can use furniture wheels that are screwed from the bottom and make it easy to move the doll housing to any place.

You can create a project on paper or, using modern technology, in a computer program that will automatically calculate the amount of materials needed for the building.

An example of a standard dollhouse project:

In many ways, the size depends on the material, since not every raw material is able to keep its shape and withstand the load. Let's try to consider houses from different materials.

Plywood or laminate

Plywood is a very good choice for making a dollhouse. It holds its shape well, is strong enough, and is easily fastened with glue or self-tapping screws. It is convenient to work with it using standard tools, only after completion of work it is advisable to clean it with sandpaper to make it smoother.

It is convenient to decorate plywood with paper or cloth, and besides, it is durable. Laminate has similar properties, which is also often used to create a doll apartment.

An example of a dollhouse diagram:

To create you will need:

  • laminate or plywood, with a thickness of at least 7 mm;
  • PVA glue, it can be replaced with carpentry;
  • jigsaw;
  • remnants of wallpaper that will be used to decorate walls, furniture, and you can use self-adhesive film for the floor;
  • pencil for making notes;
  • tape measure or centimeter.

The manufacturing process consists of the following steps:

  1. Sawing the wall of the plywood structure according to the dimensions in the drawing.
  2. Selection of places where windows, doors will be located, sawing them out.
  3. Assemble the structure with wood glue or small nails.
  4. Roof construction and design. The roof of the house can be covered with corrugated cardboard and painted, thus imitating tiles.
  5. Fastening the structure to the base is a piece of plywood that is slightly larger. This is necessary to give the structure greater stability and the possibility of additional decor. For example, on a wide surface in front of the house, you can organize a veranda or flower beds.
  6. Decorating the inside and outside of walls and floors. Sometimes it is more convenient to paste over the inner walls before assembling the house, then the joints will not be visible, but in this case it is important not to make large overlaps, violating the proportions of the structure.
  7. Arrangement of furniture.
  8. Interior decoration with small details: curtains, rugs, tablecloths and more.

An example of a step-by-step construction of a house in the photo (instructions for dad):

Project Marking the future house Drilling Drilling Finishing with a file Putty Sanding Finished walls Painting Painted parts Marking for fasteners Assembly Assembly Finished construction Interior Balcony Room

Plasterboard layouts

Drywall is also a popular material because of its strength and cheapness, because it often remains after repairs in the form of small pieces that have nowhere to attach. The Barbie house is perfect for this. However, it is harder to fasten it, the glue does not fit well here, for it it will be necessary to align the cut points to reduce the consumption of funds.

Self-tapping screws twisted into metal corners will be more effective. But they will need to be taken in small sizes or then sawed off the tips sticking out from the outside.

The scheme of working with drywall is similar to the construction of plywood, the same tools are needed for it. Therefore, you can use the scheme above.

Styrofoam

This material is also from the category of budget, remaining after the purchase of household appliances or other goods. Its only drawback is fragility, so you should work with the foam carefully.

For work you will need:

  • foam, preferably in large sheets;
  • toothpicks, bamboo sticks (leftover from sushi sets);
  • glue gun;
  • several wooden rulers;
  • corrugated cardboard;
  • remnants of wallpaper;
  • foam sponge;
  • remnants of ceiling moldings;
  • accessories for interior design.

We present the manufacturing process in stages:

  1. Project development, drawing up a drawing.
  2. Cutting the foam according to the drawing, it is better to do this with a hot knife, then the foam will crumble less.
  3. Cutting future windows, doorways.
  4. Assembly. To do this, you will need toothpicks that need to be broken in half, fasten pieces of foam plastic with them, apply glue between them and press tightly.
  5. The ceiling and floor are also glued with a glue gun, only to strengthen the structure they need to be strengthened. For this, bamboo sticks are used, which are glued to the foam in the form of transverse beams.
  6. An interfloor staircase is built separately, it is made of wooden rulers or the same foam, and the railings are made of toothpicks or bamboo sticks. After that, the finished one is glued into the structure.
  7. Making a roof, the material for which can be foam or corrugated cardboard.
  8. Finishing the outside includes painting the entire building with acrylic paint, which is conveniently applied with a foam sponge with light tangential movements. Outside, a balcony can be made, which is assembled in the same way as a staircase.
  9. Finishing from the inside, pieces of wallpaper and colored paper are used for it, window sills and other interior details can be cut out of the ceiling plinth. Curtains, carpets, small decorations will add comfort to the design.
  10. Arrangement of furniture, settlement.

Bookshelf or rack

It is not at all necessary to purchase materials for making a home for dolls, sometimes it is enough to use interior items that are no longer in use. So, an old bookshelf or cabinet may well become a home for Monster High or a little princess.

At the same time, the amount of work will be minimal: it will only be necessary to repair the back wall of the house and equip the internal contents. Details such as the roof and chimney for a structure against a wall can generally be drawn or depicted with duct tape.

Old locker or chest of drawers

Dusty in the attic or in the basement, old bedside tables, chests of drawers, wooden cabinets can also be used in business. They are much better for larger dolls and require minimal processing.

Internal shelves, drawers can be removed, thus creating large rooms. Or, conversely, add partitions between high ceilings to match the height of the dolls used. And of course, finishing, which will give the product a finished look.

Cardboard

The popularity of cardboard is understandable, it is inexpensive, easy to assemble, and always available. True, this design is short-lived, since the cardboard breaks and tears. Therefore, it is better to use corrugated cardboard, which is used for packaging.

A house from it is assembled quickly and easily from improvised materials:

  • corrugated cardboard itself;
  • finishing elements;
  • fabrics and more.

Tools that will be needed in the work:

  • drawings, part templates;
  • knife, brushes, paints, pencils, felt-tip pens;
  • glue gun;
  • ruler and others.

Photo scheme:

Photo of the house:

The assembly process is simple and similar to other designs, but the cardboard has some peculiarities: it bends easily, so you need to carefully crush it. It is better to fasten with glue, while the edges are not cut off, but are bent inward and act as a fastening element.

To properly bend the cardboard in this place, you need to draw something pointed, but not cutting through, for example, a pencil. A groove is formed along which the material will easily bend.

It is better to cut out details like windows with a clerical knife along the marked lines.

boxes

Cardboard boxes are the easiest way to assemble a dollhouse for a girl. To do this, you need to go to the back door of the nearest store and pick up boxes that are close in size. This will make it faster and easier to assemble the house.

Then you need to fasten together with glue or double-sided tape. Cut windows and create a setting. Exterior decoration can also be made from boxes, for example, a balcony or terrace.

fabric

A fabric house is a good option for a small space, as it can be folded up and put away for a while. To make it, you will need a dense fabric with various patterns and the ability to sew.

The design is assembled from fabric according to the scheme. Each element is sewn separately, then turned inside out and fastened into a single house. To seal the walls, you can use cardboard or a plastic mesh that is placed inside, they will not allow the walls to bend, and make the whole product more durable. However, a house with cardboard cannot be washed.

How to make a staircase for a house or a castle?

The stairs in the doll house are one of the most difficult elements, a real task for dad. The easiest way to make it out of cardboard or foam. The first can simply be bent into the desired position, and then reinforced with intermediate parts using the same foam.

A wooden staircase can be made from two rulers and several blocks. On the rulers, at regular intervals, small cuts should be made, into which steps from small pieces of wood are inserted at an angle of about 45 degrees, which are attached with glue to one and immediately to the second ruler. Wide rulers can act as railings.

Styrofoam stairs can be cut from a piece if a large enough block is available. It is placed at an angle and the steps are cut with a hot knife. Real craftsmen can build a staircase from wooden blocks according to special drawings.

Interior design - toy furniture and decor

Interior design is a real holiday for a girl, so you should invite her to help in interior design and furniture making. The latter can also be very diverse. The most affordable option is cardboard.

For decoration, everything that is available in the house will go:

  • remnants of wallpaper;
  • pieces of fabric;
  • beads;
  • artificial flowers;
  • toothpicks;
  • cardboard boxes and more.

It all depends on the imagination of the manufacturer. Beautiful curtains, bedspreads, tablecloths, even paintings on the walls can be made independently. This will not take much time, but it will give pleasure and help to involve the girl in housework and sewing.

Lighting

It seems almost impossible to make lighting in the house, because connecting to the network and having wires is far from safe. Especially if the dwelling is made of wood or cardboard. In the event of a short circuit, a fire may occur.

However, there is a simple safe solution - small battery-powered LED bulbs. Their tension is very small, and the fastening is simple - using double-sided tape.

A drywall house has a lot of advantages, including: ease of working with it, its lightness. Even if you do not paint the walls of the house after assembly, they will still look neat thanks to its white color. A significant disadvantage of such a house is its fragility. It is worth a little pressure on any part of the house, as it will immediately break.

In order to make a drywall house, you can use the scheme above, or you can simply make cruciform partitions to save space in the nursery. These partitions will separate the rooms among themselves, there will be no external walls and a roof.

From large sheets of drywall, you can make a full-fledged beautiful house. Watch the master class in the next video.

Styrofoam

Home decoration can be very diverse. You can use a transparent plastic box, make printouts of the underwater world and put an aquarium in your house. You can print pictures, lay tablecloths on tables, add toys to dolls. Let your imagination run wild and you will get the most wonderful dollhouse for girls.

From a bookshelf / rack

You can make a great dollhouse out of a bookshelf or shelving unit. Making it is very simple, because you already have a ready-made base. To decorate the house, use cardboard, wallpaper, self-adhesive paper, and wrapping paper is also suitable.

Include your daughter in this creative process as well. She will be able to act as a designer for her dollhouse.

If the house is located permanently against the wall, then you can make the roof of the house with black electrical tape, gluing the contours. Glue the chimney in the same way. If necessary, rearrange the house to another place, the electrical tape can be safely peeled off without damaging the wallpaper in the room. You can buy ready-made furniture for dolls or show your imagination and make it yourself.

From an old locker or chest of drawers

Your daughter asks for a dollhouse, and an old chest of drawers is gathering dust in the garage? You can breathe a second life into old, already unnecessary furniture. Treat your child by making a dollhouse out of an old locker or chest of drawers . Such houses are very convenient for those whose children play with large or tall dolls.

First of all, you need to know the height of the dolls. This is necessary so that the dolls can be placed in full-length rooms. You may have to combine 2 shelves by removing unnecessary partitions. Work carefully, trying not to break the inner walls of the cabinet or chest of drawers. In place of the partitions that we removed, a void that we do not need will appear. It can be glued with thin slats that fit in size.

After waiting for the glue to dry completely, treat the walls of the chest of drawers with a thin layer of putty. After that, the chest of drawers must be sanded, then it will become even and smooth. Using a jigsaw, you can cut windows.

The final step will be the design of your house. The outside can be painted. You will most likely have to paint it in several layers in order to cover up the old color of the chest of drawers. The walls inside can be pasted over with wallpaper, colored, packaging or self-adhesive paper. And you can also just paint them. We arrange furniture, hang pictures and mirrors on the walls, curtains, spread carpets and invite dolls to housewarming. Now the dolls in your daughter's room will always be tidied up!

From cardboard

A budget option for making a dollhouse is corrugated cardboard. With it, you can create a wonderful toy that will delight your girl for a long time.

We will need:

  • corrugated cardboard for the frame of the house;
  • decorative cardboard for decorating a house;
  • detail templates that will depend on the size of your future house; sweep;
  • stationery: pencil, ruler, eraser, scissors;
  • knife, paints, brushes, felt-tip pens;
  • glue gun;
  • colored, packaging and self-adhesive paper;
  • the cloth;
  • decorative elements - beads, rhinestones, stones, artificial flowers.

Let's start making a house:

  1. If you have a large sheet of corrugated cardboard, then you can apply a scan on it. Choose the dimensions based on the size of the house. If there are no large sheets, then each part must be cut out separately. The front wall does not need to be done.
  1. In order to make it convenient to bend the cardboard, it is necessary to make a groove at the place of the fold by drawing a ruler along it. If all the details are cut out, glue them at the joints of the cardboard.
  2. Cut and glue interior partitions. In such a house, they are simply necessary. They will perform a supporting function.

The structure is assembled. You can start decorating.

Inside the walls it is better to paste over with decorative paper or cloth. So you hide the seams in the places of gluing. Outside, the walls can be decorated to your taste: paint, paste over. Decorate your home with beads, rhinestones, pebbles or other items of your choice. Pay attention to the fact that the decor elements hold well on the cardboard, otherwise the house will lose its attractiveness during the games.

Arrange the furniture and invite the child to play.

Out of the boxes

Very easy to make dollhouse out of boxes. For him, you will need to choose the right size boxes. The size will depend on the height of the dolls for which this house is made. The number of boxes will depend on the number of rooms you are going to make. One box, one room. Such a house can be made multi-storey by gluing the boxes one on top of the other. This will save space in the room.

It is necessary to fasten the boxes together so that its top is on its side, opening the interior of the room to the eye. This can be done in various ways: using a stapler, glue, double-sided tape. Cut out windows. We decorate the house according to your taste. We furnish the furniture and delight the girl with a new toy, for which you spent a minimum of money and effort.

Watch the following master class, which shows in detail the process of making a beautiful dollhouse out of a box.

A great box house is easy to make! See the following videos for more details.

From document folders

If there is very little space in the children's room, you can make a folding dollhouse.

For such a house, we need 4 folders for documents. We glue each folder inside with beautiful paper - this will be wallpaper for the walls. Decorate the clip of the folder with a cloth, making a kind of curtain out of it. Print out interior items on the printer and stick on the walls. The house is ready. It remains to open the folders and put them vertically. Add the necessary furniture.

  • Original idea. You personally choose the location, the design of the rooms. The building will undoubtedly be one of a kind.
  • Shared activities with the child will strengthen the relationship.
  • The construction process will help in the formation of motor skills, obtaining the next baggage of knowledge.
  • The probability of choosing dimensions.

Material selection

If you decide to build a house on two floors, then the thickness of the material should be 9 - 15 mm, for one floor it can be less.

There are many materials from which you can make your own doll house. Advantages of plywood:

  • Fortress building under construction. In the case of good fasteners, the links do not fall apart.
  • Plywood easily acquires a finished, complete look with the help of simple tools that every man has at hand.
  • Wooden toys are pleasant to the touch - they are always warm.
  • The graceful appearance of the tree makes it possible to confine itself without special finishing.
  • Affordable plywood price.

Drywall

If you have recently made repairs and you have some material left, you can make a house for a doll out of it. To fix the sheets, you will need tin corners, to fix them you need self-tapping screws, but they will stick out from the back, and this, as you understand, is not safe. As an option, use glue, but for this you need to make the cut lines more even for less glue consumption.

OSB

This material is similar to plywood, only more waterproof and made from wood chips.

Cardboard

The cheapest material, but most subject to deformation. The hardest is hobby cardboard. Fix with glue. To make the house stronger, it is better to make a frame of planks, and then tighten it with cardboard.

Chipboard

Very dense material, high weight of the building, unreliability under lateral loads and the release of formaldehyde, you should not step over this.

Furniture panels

Environmentally friendly, strong, easy to process, but the material is not cheap.

Important information:

In the manufacture of plywood, formaldehydes are used, which are introduced into the structure of the adhesive to form fibers. Then, in order to bypass the receipt of this serious raw material by the child, show special interest in marking plywood sheets.

  • E 0 -<6 мг /100 грамм
  • E 1 - 7 - 9 mg / 100 grams
  • E 2 - 10-20 mg / 100 grams

The most reliable will be sheets marked E 0.

Beginning of work

The production of apartments for dolls does not consist of one stage. In order for everything to grow together as it should, follow a certain procedure.

Preparing a sketch

The first step is to develop a project that reflects the location, the boundaries of the tiers in width, length, height. Calculate the height of the ceilings twice the height of the doll itself for their free movement around the rooms. The top tier should be at the level of the baby's eyes. The depth of the rooms is usually made 30 - 45 cm. If the dimensions of the apartment are not small, wheels can be attached to the bottom - so the child can move the building on his own.

The most important thing at this stage is to follow the magnitude ratio in the scales in case you decide to correct the dimensions later.

Preparation of tools. For the production of the base and its elements you will need:

  • Plywood. To know how much plywood we need, we count the number of parts and their size, we get a single area of \u200b\u200ball surfaces. On average, for small buildings it takes 2 - 3 sheets, and for large 7 - 10.
  • Corrugated cardboard is used for roof production.
  • A good helper for cutting wood is an electric jigsaw.
  • Use wood glue to secure the pieces.
  • Mounting tape is required for additional fixing of the elements.
  • You will need fine sandpaper.
  • Arm yourself with a tape measure, ruler and pencil.

For finishing:

  1. PVA glue
  2. Self-adhesive paper
  3. Colored cardboard or paper

Drawing transfer

First you need to carve the details from the sheets, in order to do this, the sketches are taken out on paper, from which the finished parts are cut out and then used as a template.

We cut and join.

  • We cut through the displaced parts with a jigsaw. Be more careful and attentive, clearly follow the line, otherwise the details will not converge correctly.
  • We clean the edges for safety and protection from injury.

Assembly process

We start by connecting the inner area. We fix floors and partitions to the vertical end walls using glue and adhesive tape. In order to improve the connection, the corners can be fastened with thin rails, thanks to which the structure will be stronger.

Ladder distances will be made using wooden rulers. To do this, we will lean them in the form of slides, or we will divide one ruler and connect a real staircase from parts.

Making the back wall

We cut out solid slopes from cardboard, or we assemble the roof from separate pieces in the form of tiles. If you are planning to make a gable roof, then consider that the last floor is equipped with a partition in the center.

The structure must be left for one or two days, so that the glue dries and the house gains strength.

After that, the most interesting procedure for the child begins - the decoration of the premises.

We think over the design

This is a personal matter for everyone, as far as anyone has enough imagination. Here are some helpful tips:

  • Talk to your child about how to decorate the floor.
  • If the child wants to have swinging windows and doors, do not argue with him. To do this, fix the canvases on cardboard or use small door hinges. It is also possible to block door and window openings with shreds of fabric, and even create glass using transparent plastic bottles.
  • The ceiling and floor can be decorated with wallpaper or self-adhesive paper, as well as with walls. If you decide to glue the walls, it is easier to do this before assembling the structure.
  • Exterior decoration can be decorated with thick paper and paints. The paper is torn into pieces, with the help of glue they are applied to the walls and create the desired relief. After drying, you can use paints.
  • Lighting. You can do without unnecessary wires, there is a very simple solution. In large stores, there are small lamps that are powered by batteries, and they are attached with Velcro. Each lamp has its own switch, the voltage is a couple of volts.
  • We exhibit furniture for dolls.

The dollhouse is ready for new tenants to move in, everyone is happy and satisfied!

Secondary functions

In this most beautiful apartment, you can build special built-in drawers for storing accessories and various little things in the upper or lower tier.

As a material, take the same plywood. To do this, on the drawing, immediately determine the place for these boxes.

We cut out the sides of the boxes from plywood sheets and fasten them with glue. We attach the handle and put it in the department.

Alternatively, you can make a hinged door. To do this, we attach the base to metal loops.

The building for dolls, made by yourself, will be the best present for every child. A doll house with parking for cars will definitely please both boys and girls!

All this construction will take you no more than 2 - 3 days. The child will be happy to do the decoration of the rooms on his own. Turn on your imagination and make your child happier every day!

Do you want to please your daughter and give her a doll house? Read how to make a house for Barbie, Monster High with your own hands from cardboard, plywood and MDF.

What girl does not love dolls and does not dream that they have a real house with spacious rooms and furniture? Such a toy will not only entertain the baby, but also make her director's game more complex and varied. As you know, while playing, children learn and develop, and parents should make efforts to organize the conditions for this development.

Do-it-yourself dollhouse for barbie: diagram, photo

Of course, there are simpler options to make a daughter's house for a doll:

  1. Buy ready. But they cost sky-high money. At the same time, the plastic parts are fragile, they are poorly attached to each other, the house is constantly falling apart.
  2. Organize your home in a closet, nightstand or bookcase. Probably, parents in their distant childhood did this themselves. The option is good because, firstly, you do not need to spend extra money, and secondly, the child will learn to use objects in the game - substitutes. The downside is that sooner or later the daughter will say that the house is not real, she will want to have something more believable, with wallpaper, windows, etc.

Then mom and dad will have to decide how to make this toy themselves. First of all, decide on the size. If the house is intended for a doll like Barbie or Monster High, it will turn out to be dimensional. The height of each room will be at least 30 cm, width, so that you can put a doll bed in the house, 40 cm or more. For baby dolls and toys - figures, you can make a more compact "housing".

House for Barbie made of plywood, made by hand.

IMPORTANT: In practice, the doll house takes its place as a full-fledged piece of furniture. Having decided to make one, you need to think about where it will stand in the room.

The next step is the choice of materials. As a rule, dollhouses are made from:

  1. Cardboard boxes and cardboard. Budget option, you do not need to spend a lot on the purchase of materials. Also, you do not need to think about what fasteners to assemble the house with, you will only need any glue and adhesive tape. The big minus of the house is that it is fragile, hygroscopic, easily dirty. You can't put heavy furniture on thin shelves. The cardboard house for the doll is not suitable for small children who do not know how to calculate strength during play.
  2. Plywood. A more practical and also cheaper option. A sheet of plywood is covered with do-it-yourself parts for a toy house using an ordinary jigsaw. The toy is getting better. But porous plywood must be painted or glued so that it does not absorb dust and moisture, does not swell, and fungus does not start in it. Another drawback of this material is that thin sheets of plywood are not easy to connect with each other so that they hold tight, the house does not fall apart.
  3. Wood, MDF. The most practical and costly option. The house will turn out to be very high quality and durable, stable and safe. It will not fall apart even if the child hangs on it with all its weight. MDF is easy to process, structural elements are firmly connected to each other with self-tapping screws, and their caps can be drowned in the thickness of the material. MDF gives absolute freedom to house decor ideas.

IMPORTANT: It must be remembered that a child will play with the house, and, most likely, this dimensional toy will stand in the children's room. Materials for it must be hygienic, environmentally friendly, hypoallergenic, non-toxic. If after priming or painting the house exudes a smell, you need to let it weather.

Although the house is intended for children from 3 years old, that is, the age at which the director's game has already been formed, you need to pay attention to the presence of small details in it that you can choke on.
Before proceeding with the purchase of materials for the dollhouse and proceeding directly to its assembly, it is necessary to make a plan or diagram. It will help you calculate how much material you need to buy. The details will match each other, they will turn out to be firmly connected. A stable and beautiful toy house will please the child and will not spoil the interior of the apartment.

  1. From plywood, the details of the house are very carefully cut out. They must exactly match the drawing. Also cut out window and door openings, if any. Windows can be made rectangular, round or triangular.
  2. All plywood parts are carefully sanded with sandpaper so that the child does not drive a splinter during the game.

Do-it-yourself wooden doll house: drawings and dimensions

The doll house will be played by a girl from 3 to 10-12 years old. This toy, if it is beautiful and of high quality, will stand in the house for many years, invariably delight the baby and surprise guests. It is definitely worth the effort and investment. Therefore, the best option would be to make it from MDF.

  1. At the first stage of work, they think over the design of the house. You need to decide on the size, number of rooms, their shape, roof configuration. A universal solution is a two-story house with 4 rooms with a shed roof and an attic.
  2. For such a house, the main details are needed: a back wall, two side walls, two strips for the ceilings of the first and second floors, two vertical lintels between rooms, a strip for the roof slope. It is better to order the cutting of these parts in a furniture or carpentry workshop. Under them all take MDF of the same thickness. Or you can make the back wall and sidewalls, that is, the supporting parts of the structure, thicker, and the rest, auxiliary, thinner.
  3. In the side walls, and, if desired, in the back, window openings are cut.
  4. It is better to order window frames in laser cutting, then they will turn out to be perfectly even and already chamfered.
    MDF is a heavy material, glue or ordinary screws will not take it. Connect the parts of the house with self-tapping screws. Hats are drowned in the material and then masked with shavings with glue or polymer clay.
  5. On the roof, the attic with a round window looks beautiful. It is also better to order it in laser cutting. A plywood attic is attached to the roof of the house with glue.
  6. To imitate tiles and decorate the roof beautifully, they buy thin bamboo roller blinds, cut them to the size of the slope and glue them on it. The attic is decorated in the same way. If the roller blinds are on one thread, they can crumble when cut. Then they must first be glued with ordinary PVA.
  7. The roof of the house is conveniently mounted on hinges so that it can open. In the "attic" then it will be possible to store the pupae and their dowry.
  8. Window frames are planted in openings.
  9. Next, move on to the design of the walls. The simplest thing is to prime them and paint them the same color. You can also make an imitation of brickwork. Bricks are first marked with a pencil, then cut out with a wood router. Primed MDF and painted in the desired color. After the soil has dried, the recesses between the bricks are isolated with a simple pencil or marker. To make the masonry look natural, color heterogeneity is betrayed with the help of crayons.
  10. “Bricks” of various sizes are cut out of porous egg trays and glued around the windows.
  11. They complete the exterior decor of the house with artificial small flowers. They are glued at the base of the side walls, on the roof and attic.
  12. The ceilings and floors of the house are painted in the right colors.
  13. Barbie doll is a conditional model of a person 1 to 6, respectively, and her house. Scraps of old wallpaper or gift paper will look rough in it. A good solution is to find a wallpaper with a pattern you like on the Internet for everyone, reduce it proportionally in a photo editor and print it at a printing house. It is important to choose good paper. A conventional copier will soon wipe off, glue may appear on it, or it will wrinkle during pasting. Photo paper may not adhere well. Glue wallpaper on PVA.

How to make a do-it-yourself doll house for monster high?

The relationship of moms and dads to Monster High dolls is ambiguous. Some cannot stand them, they consider them crippling the psyche of the child. Others tend to think that stylish monsters stimulate the child's cognitive interest in myths and legends, and also raise his self-esteem. Be that as it may, girls love monster dolls. And at some point, the daughter may ask her parents to make her a house for them.

IMPORTANT: The dimensions and construction of the Monster High house are different from those intended for Barbie. But with the finish will have to tinker.

  1. Before you design a house for monsters, you should learn more about the Gothic style.
  2. Monster High likes an interesting color palette: they combine gloomy black with rich pink, fuchsia, neon yellow and green. The same combination of colors should be used in the interior of the doll house.
  3. You need to think about how to beat the glitter and black lace. Monster rooms should have gold and silver.
  4. Elements with imitation of artistic forging also complement the interior of the Monster High doll house: chandeliers, candelabra, fireplace grates, stair railings.
  5. The interior and exterior of the house use Monster High symbols.

The assortment of children's goods stores is rich and varied. Among the popular toys are dolls and accessories for them: houses and furniture, which differs from the real one only in size. You can buy a plywood dollhouse or make it yourself, spending a minimum of money and time on it.

The advantages of self-production

The advantages of making a house for dolls with your own hands from plywood include the following:

  1. A product made according to an individual drawing involves the use of its own dimensions, design and functionality. The main advantage of such a toy lies in its uniqueness and the ability to take into account the wishes of the child in the arrangement and design of rooms, the choice of layout and furniture, accessories and decor.
  2. The house can have the necessary and convenient size, which is selected taking into account the free space in the children's room and the wishes of the child. It can be desktop or floor construction.
  3. A child can be involved in decorating and arranging the internal space even at the stage of developing a drawing - joint work brings together, allows you to reveal the creative potential of the baby, teaches him to make independent decisions and be responsible for them.
  4. Working with plywood is a creative and entertaining process in which the whole family can participate.

Advantages of plywood

Any materials can be used for self-manufacturing of a dollhouse, but plywood is used more often, as it has a number of advantages:

  1. A whole category of toys for children are made of wood, in particular plywood, due to its pleasant to the touch, warm surface.
  2. The light weight of the material allows you to create large structures that even a child can rearrange from place to place.
  3. Plywood is a durable material, so the structures made from it are reliable and durable.
  4. The material has an affordable cost, which allows you to make a toy no worse than the one sold in the store, but for much less money.
  5. It is easy to work with plywood, it is easy to process and does not require the use of special tools or professional skills.
  6. After assembly, the house can be painted or left as it is, covered with a transparent varnish - the surface of the plywood is even, with a pleasant natural pattern and shade.

Note! E0 plywood is an environmentally friendly and safe material. In the manufacture of goods for children, this type of material is used.

Preparatory work

At the first stage, you will need to determine the size of the structure. To do this, you should take into account the size of the doll that the child plays with - the toy should fit freely in full growth with a margin of several centimeters to the ceiling. There should also be enough space for arranging toy furniture - a crib, a table with chairs, kitchen furniture.

The number of floors in the house depends on the size of the toys and the height of the child. If the figures do not exceed 20 cm in height, then the house can have up to 3 floors. If the structure is assembled for a standard Barbie doll, then more than 2 floors cannot be made - it is better then to arrange the rooms horizontally.

Having decided on the concept, you can proceed to a more detailed study of the project by completing a scale drawing of the structure on a piece of paper.

Drawing

The drawing of the details of the house must be made to scale - you can draw it on a piece of paper or in a special computer program. This will reflect the dimensions of the product, the number and dimensions of parts, determine the methods and places of fastening. Also at the stage of creating a project, you should decide on the internal layout, shape and design of the house. This stage of preparatory work should not be skipped, as it allows you to determine the required amount of material and the sequence of assembly of the product.

Note! For the manufacture of a house, you can use a standard drawing. At the same time, it is worth remembering that when changing (increasing, decreasing) one size, a proportional change follows in other sizes.

When developing a drawing yourself, you will need to consider the following:

  1. The shape of the back wall is a rectangle or pentagon, which allows you to make a gable roof.
  2. To make the assembly process easier, the base is made somewhat wider than the space inside.
  3. The ceilings of the upper floors should have smaller dimensions than those at the base.
  4. The main structural elements also include sidewalls, interior partitions and roof details.

Tools and material

Making a plywood house is carried out in several stages. Particular attention should be paid to the acquisition of the necessary tools and materials.

List of materials and tools:

  1. Plywood sheets, the number of which is calculated in accordance with the drawing, taking into account the size and number of parts. The resulting value is rounded up. On average, it takes 3 sheets of plywood to make a dollhouse.
  2. The roof of the house is made of plywood, corrugated or plain cardboard.
  3. Fast-drying wood glue is used to ensure a strong fixation of plywood parts.
  4. For temporary and additional fixation of parts, you can use mounting tape.
  5. Sandpaper is used to polish the parts. Particular attention should be paid to the ends of the elements.
  6. Cutting parts is done using an electric jigsaw.
  7. The fixing of parts during the assembly of the house is carried out using self-tapping screws.
  8. At the stage of preparing the material for cutting, you will need a ruler, tape measure, pencil.

After assembling the house, it must be decorated. To do this, use scraps and other remnants of finishing materials: wallpaper, film, colored paper, pieces of linoleum, fabric, felt, laminate. Window openings are filled with transparent plastic or plexiglass.

Step-by-step instructions for the manufacture and assembly of a plywood house

The sequence for making a plywood dollhouse is as follows.

Table 1. Making a dollhouse

IllustrationDescription

In accordance with the drawing, the dimensions of the parts to be cut will be applied to the surface of the plywood.

Fragments of large size and simple shape are cut on the machine.

In accordance with the drawing, the required number of overlaps is cut out.
To cut smaller parts - use a jigsaw

The junction of two roof elements (slopes) on one side is glued with adhesive tape.
The parts are turned over and the ends are smeared at the points of contact with glue. The parts are pressed and set in the desired position.

Glue the pediment.
For the manufacture of window and door openings, an electric jigsaw is used.
To insert a jigsaw file and start cutting a window opening, first drill a small hole.
You will have to drill a hole on all sides of the window opening.

From the inside, window and door openings are polished with sandpaper.

For large parts use a grinder.

Holes for self-tapping screws are drilled using a countersink drill, so that subsequently the head of the self-tapping screw is recessed into the array of the part.
Details are painted in the selected colors.
The assembly of the house is carried out using ordinary self-tapping screws, the caps of which are subsequently painted in the color of the part.

Note! The method of attaching plywood parts depends on its thickness and the dimensions of the elements. When the material is thin, and the house itself is not large, then the elements can be fixed with wood glue or with the help of special grooves.
