Pressing the decompressor lever slightly opens the exhaust valve, thereby violating the tightness of the combustion chamber. It is impossible to use this device to stop the engine, this can lead to the destruction of parts of the gas distribution mechanism.

    Launch preparation

      First of all, unpack the unit and inspect it for external damage. Make sure there are no foreign objects inside.

      Locate the oil pressure indicator on the instrument panel of the power plant. This indicator informs us about the presence of oil pressure in the internal combustion engine system. Attention, as long as there is no pressure in the oil system, the unit will not start. Before bleeding the generator fuel system at the first start, make sure that the indicator is off!

      Always ground the generator. Grounding provides reliable protection against electric shock.

      The diesel generators are supplied with ready-to-use batteries. Connect the power wires to the battery terminals, remembering to observe the polarity.

      Next, you need to fill in the required amount of oil. Look in the instructions for your model and find out the brand of oil that suits your particular engine. To do this, squeeze the decompressor and turn the engine crankshaft with an electric starter until the emergency oil pressure lamp goes out.

      Further, according to the instructions, it is necessary to fill the tank with fuel and prepare the fuel system for operation. The fuel equipment of a diesel unit is a complex and precise mechanism, therefore it is sensitive to the quality of the fuel. To avoid costly repairs, purchase fuel only at trusted gas stations.

      Unlike gasoline, which loses its properties within two months, diesel fuel retains its performance up to six months.
      After filling the tank with fuel, open the generator fuel cock. It takes several minutes to fill the fuel system and the filters. Then you need to remove air from the fuel system.

      First loosen the high pressure fuel line nut on the fuel pump a couple of turns. While holding the decompression device, turn the engine crankshaft.       There are two types of starting in diesel power plants:

      Manual start of the diesel generator.

      Manual start is redundant and allows you to start the power plant in case of a malfunction of the engine electric start system. This type of start is used in low-power diesel generator sets. Follow the instructions and make sure that the fuel valve is open, turn on the ignition.

      We pull the starter handle until a noticeable resistance appears, this corresponds to the top dead center of the engine, return the starter handle to its place.       Starting the power plant with an electric starter.

      Unfortunately, it is almost impossible to completely remove the air from the fuel line, so the diesel generator may operate unstably for some time. You can speed up the process of removing air, for this you need to connect a small load after warming up the engine, approximately one third of the rated power.

      After warming up the motor, you can connect the load with the circuit breaker turned off.
      To make it easier to start the diesel generator in winter, use the preheating button. With its help, the glow plug is turned on, which heats up the air entering the combustion chamber. Keep the button pressed for no more than 8 seconds so that the candle does not burn out.

    • The diesel engine is lubricated under pressure, so you need to distribute the oil through the oil system before starting the engine. To do this, squeeze the compressor, and then turn the engine crankshaft with an electric starter. This must be done until the emergency oil pressure lamp goes out.
    • Using a decompressor to stop the engine is absolutely not worth it. This can lead to the destruction of parts of the gas distribution mechanism.

    • The next step is to remove air from the fuel system. First, loosen the high pressure wire fuel nut on the fuel pump for a couple of turns. While holding the decompressor, turn the engine crankshaft. This should be done evenly, until the fuel flows out from under the nut (and it is important to ensure that it is free of air bubbles).
    • We do the same manipulation with the nut on the fuel injector. Tighten both nuts.
    • After the above operations, your DGU is ready for operation.
    • SKAT generators are equipped with both manual and electric starters. Manual start is used when the electric start system of the motor is faulty.
    • So, electric start. To begin with, we make sure that the fuel valve is open, we switch the igniter switch to the "on" mode, hold the compressor pressed, turn the engine crankshaft with an electric starter until it picks up maximum speed, release the decompressor, while not forgetting to rotate the crankshaft. It is practically impossible to completely remove air from the fuel line, so the generator engine may operate unstably for some time.
    • Consider how to start the unit using a manual starter. We make sure that the fuel valve is in the open state, then turn on the ignition, pull the starter handle until resistance appears, this corresponds to the dead center of the motor, return the starter handle to its place. Then, squeeze the decompressor and pull the starter handle.
