To organize a workplace along the wall of the room, a straight computer desk is ideal. Order drawings of the model you like and make a computer desk with your own hands!

Corner computer tables

Effective filling of the corner space of your room will be a corner computer desk. You can make any model of the catalog yourself, using our drawings!

A desktop computer has a lot of wires and communications that need compact placement. A good solution to this issue would be to independently manufacture a computer desk.

Our catalog contains drawings of interesting models. Now you can make a computer desk that will be comfortable to work with at minimal cost. All you need is to assemble a "furniture designer" according to our drawings, and get a decent result in the form of an excellent computer desk.

If the catalog does not contain the model you need, then send us its image. We will be happy to make drawings of this table for you and add it to our catalog.

Good luck in all your good deeds!

Making a computer desk with your own hands is not so difficult, and as a result you will get irreplaceable furniture, because computers are in every home today, and it is much more convenient to use furniture specially designed for this instead of the usual one.

Today on the market you can find a wide variety of computer tables - a transforming table and a corner table are especially popular, because. they are not only comfortable, but also look original.

But, what is most pleasant, you can make almost any model of the table you like by yourself, after selecting it from the photo.

In the article you will learn how to make a computer desk, what tools you will need for this and how to properly mount the parts so that the furniture will last you a long time.

Drawings are the first thing you need when creating a computer desk. You can take ready-made drawings, or create your own, suitable for the size of your room.

Drawings are needed not only to see what the design will look like, but also to calculate the amount of materials and the price that it will cost you to build a computer desk.

First of all, decide on the appearance and functional elements of the computer desk: do you need drawers, pull-out shelves, stands for things, etc.

The more additional elements there are, the more difficult it will be to make the table, but the more functional it will be in the end.

You also need to correlate the size of the structure with the size of the chair or chair that will be used for sitting.

This is necessary so that the table does not turn out to be too low, or, conversely, high or simply uncomfortable.

As a basis, you can take the standard size of any office chair, because. they differ little from each other.

The shape of the computer desk is another important detail.

It can be the usual rectangular, angular, or you can make a transforming table (see photo), which can change shape depending on the need.

The last option is the most difficult to manufacture, but you can assemble it if you wish.

The optimal table height is about 700 mm for an adult, and 600-650 mm if the furniture is planned for a nursery.

If you are making shelves for a printer, scanner and other office equipment, then you need to first measure it and find out what size the final size of the shelves should be.

The size of the computer desk is also affected by its location - try to ensure that the place is properly lit, the chair can move freely, and in general there is enough room for movement.

The final scheme should reflect the size of all parts, as well as the thickness for the side walls and countertops.

A high-quality drawing is a guarantee that you can easily and quickly cut the material and make parts of the correct shape and size, which will greatly simplify their installation and connection to each other.

The drawing should also reflect the amount of detail - look at the photo for an example of a diagram before you start creating your own.

After the drawing is ready, prepare the tools that you will need for further work.

Most often, chipboard is chosen as the material for the table, because. it is the most economical, and at the same time high-quality and durable.

In addition to chipboard, you can use natural wood or MDF, but then making the table will be more expensive.

In addition to wood, you will need the following tools:

  • jigsaw;
  • hacksaw;
  • grinding machine;
  • screwdriver;
  • drill;
  • roulette;
  • chisel;
  • square.

As you can see, there is nothing specific here, and, most likely, you can find these tools at home or in the garage.

Table manufacturing and installation

Do-it-yourself corner computer desk, a transforming table, as well as a regular rectangular table are made almost the same.

To make the simplest version of the design, you will need a chipboard plate with a thickness of at least 16 mm.

They begin work on assembling a table of any type with the selection of parts that will fix the structure on the sides.

Guides are screwed onto the boards, which are needed if you want to make drawers and shelves for your computer desk. Then the side parts are assembled on the dowels.

To make the fasteners work better and fix the parts as much as possible, add PVA glue to the nests, or insert wooden planks there. The walls themselves are fastened with self-tapping screws.

The following parts must be assembled using parts to create drawers. For them, it is better to choose chipboard with a thickness less than the rest of the table - about 10 mm.

When installing drawers, pay special attention to the corners: they must be straight so that the drawers of the table slide out and slide in easily. Lubricate the PVA sockets, and after that you can install dowels.

Then you need to paste over the side cuts with an edge tape so that it lies tightly, you need to walk along the tape with a preheated iron.

But before that, put a sheet of paper on top, otherwise the surface may become covered with bubbles.

If you see that the tape is wide and extends beyond the edge, then cut off the edge with scissors, but do it carefully so as not to damage the coating.

In order for the shelf to move easily along the guides, it is necessary to glue wooden planks on its outer and inner sides, the size of which matches the part.

If the elements do not match, then the shelf will jam, so pay special attention to this moment.

Look at the view of how the shelves for the computer desk are assembled - it will help you do the job better.

The tabletop is the last component of a computer desk. Before starting its installation, you need to make markings on the chipboard, noting the places where the countertop will be attached to the supporting pedestals.

In these places, you need to drill non-through holes, having previously installed a limiter that will allow you to control the depth of the hole.

The cabinets are installed on the countertop so that the holes are directed upwards. They will be connected by stiffeners, which will make the structure as stable as possible.

Wires will also be placed here, which will make the computer desk more convenient to use. As supporting elements, you can also use parts of the corrugated pipe, which will become a support.

The next steps are to fix the plinths on the pedestals, then turn the structure over and install the hinges on which the side door will be held.

You need to fix the structure with screeds so that it can be easily disassembled and mobile - if desired, you can easily move the table to another place.

It is best to make a monitor stand on the table top: for this, first make a frame (small wooden round bars are suitable for it) and fix it with glue and dowels.

You can also purchase a ready-made stand by fixing it with self-tapping screws.

The last step is the processing of the chipboard table. It is best to varnish the surface, but you can also paint it in the color you want to match the furniture with the overall style of your room.

If you decide to paint the structure, then first treat it with a primer. After applying the coating (lacquer or paint), it will be possible to use the chipboard table in 2-3 days, when the coating dries.

A transforming computer table is made similarly to ordinary tables, ordinary chipboard is also suitable for the material, but there is scope for creativity: for example, a transforming table can be made with a turntable, or it can increase in size, and then you can use it not just as a place for installing a computer, but also a full-fledged canvas for receiving guests.

To do this, you can make the monitor stand removable, or completely abandon it.

Another unusual and popular option is to hide a transforming computer desk in a false cabinet, which you can also assemble yourself.

This is very convenient for small apartments, because in this way you save a lot of space.

In addition to the transforming table, in such a cabinet you can install shelves for books or documents - then everything will always be at hand at your workplace.

Finally, the classic option is when the transforming table has a retractable panel, which, if necessary, increases the working space.

This is relevant, for example, if there are several children in your family, and they need to do their homework at the same time.

Other options for how a transforming computer table may look, look at the photo.

You can combine several, or come up with your own original version, with the necessary skills and supporting videos, you can make almost any design model.

If you have a desktop computer, then in the apartment, along with the obligatory pieces of furniture, there must be a special design table that allows you to place a complete set of personal PC equipment on it. And very often it is not always possible to purchase a table ready for use, since many of the proposed models simply do not fit into the atmosphere of a particular apartment. The easiest way out of this situation is to self-assemble a table for a PC, made taking into account the characteristics of the room allotted for it. But before you make a computer desk with your own hands, you definitely need to familiarize yourself with the known options for these prefabricated structures, as well as with the features of their manufacture.

Design choice

The whole variety of well-known models of computer tables used in domestic conditions can be reduced to the following three types:

  • corner;
  • with a direct arrangement of a table-top;
  • combined.

In the case of self-manufacturing of the table, the choice of the option suitable for you should be made taking into account the following requirements:

  • ergonomics;
  • the right choice of location, taking into account the quality of natural light, depending on the location of window openings;
  • availability of raw materials and ease of manufacture.

The first of these requirements means the creation of conditions that ensure the convenience of using the computer environment (mouse, keyboard, system unit and monitor). The possibility of their implementation should be provided for by the very design of the future product.

As for choosing a place for a computer desk, here, first of all, the protection of the display screen from direct solar radiation, which can lead to burnout (fading) of its cells, should be taken into account, and it is very inconvenient to work in such lighting. That is why the stand with the display, which is part of the product, should be positioned in such a way that the light from the sun does not fall directly on it, regardless of the orientation of the windows in the room.

The choice of a workplace with a low level of illumination (windows are located on the north side, for example) is also undesirable, since this complicates the work with paper documentation and in this case additional lighting will be required even during the day.

The most convenient option is the western or northwestern location of the windows in the room allotted for a PC. The choice of a specific desktop option (angular, straight or combined) depends on a number of factors that will be discussed below.

A feature of corner structures that occupy a minimum of space in the room is its compactness and the ability to organically fit into spaces limited in area. In addition, such tables are cheaper in terms of total material costs and easier to manufacture than all other models and therefore can be easily made even by a beginner in plumbing.

The shortage of usable area in such a structure can be compensated by an increase in its number of storeys, i.e. due to the manufacture of an additional retractable panel for the keyboard and a separate shelf for speakers. In a simplified version of such a product, the system unit is installed directly on the floor of the room (under the table).

Full straight table

The difference between a direct computer desk and a regular desk is that its individual sizes and shapes are adjusted to the requirements of ergonomics. In addition, when organizing its free space, you can choose any depth of zoning that is convenient for you. In other words, this design allows you to implement a wide variety of equipment layout options, from allocating a separate place for a display on a tabletop to a complex multi-level organization that allows you to place everything you need for professional work.

Materials for the manufacture of such a table will require approximately twice as much as for the arrangement of a corner structure. In addition, its self-assembly will require the performer to have carpentry skills related to the processing of various types of wood material.

Combination table combines the advantages of a computer and a simple desk and is ideal for professional work at home. However, you will need much more materials for the manufacture of such a table (by about 30–40%), since the manufacture of complex structural elements is associated with the formation of a large amount of waste. In addition, for the preliminary sawing of these elements, which is carried out immediately before their assembly, you will need a special cutting tool (an electric jigsaw or a hand mill used to select curly grooves).

The simplest and most affordable for self-manufacturing is the angular design, which allows, with a minimum of material and physical costs, to provide the required ergonomics and ease of placing the table within a small room. It is this option that we will consider in the future.

Manufacturing procedure

For the manufacture of a corner table, a dense laminated board (chipboard) is usually used, which provides the required reliability and durability of the structure assembled on its basis.

Frame manufacturing

To make it, you will need the following raw materials and tools:

  • chipboard blanks;
  • jigsaw and screwdriver;
  • a small sketch with instructions on the dimensions of the structural elements;
  • pencil and ruler;
  • aluminum corners;
  • wood glue.

The assembly of the frame base is carried out in the following sequence:

  1. First of all, according to the sketch, all the main blanks from chipboard are cut out, used to decorate the two rear walls, sidewalls and the tabletop itself.
  2. Then they are directly assembled, for which you will need the previously prepared corners and small wood screws (in order to avoid splitting the plate, their length should not exceed 1.5 cm).
  3. During the assembly process, first of all, the table top is fixed on the extreme sidewalls, and only after that the back walls are mounted, giving it the necessary rigidity.
  4. After the supporting frame of the table is assembled, it will be possible to proceed to the installation of intermediate partitions, through which several working compartments are made out (for the system unit, keyboard, as well as for placing literature, documents, etc.).

Mounting Features

In the process of manufacturing a computer desk, we recommend that you pay attention to the following subtleties of assembly operations regarding the design of fasteners:

For fastening, it is best to use confirmations, but you will also need to purchase a special drill for them. If the design is simple, then you can mount with self-tapping screws.

  1. Before screwing the self-tapping screw into the slab, first a hole is prepared at the attachment point with a thin drill (to a depth corresponding to the length of the self-tapping screw).
  2. To increase the strength of the structure and the convenience of its assembly, individual attachment points can be reinforced by pre-treatment with a special adhesive composition. In this case, the adhesive can be applied both to the area where the self-tapping screw is screwed in (directly into the hole), and to the contact areas of the joined workpieces.
  3. When screwing in self-tapping screws, the screwdriver must operate in low speed mode; at the same time, it is important not to overdo it with tightening the mount (which is why it is most convenient to use special models of devices equipped with so-called ratchets for these purposes).

Installation of the sliding panel under the keyboard begins with fixing metal profiles used as guides on adjacent side racks. (They are usually installed about 20 cm below the level of the countertop).

On the panel itself, small rotating rollers are attached, through which it moves along with the keyboard.

Upon completion of all the procedures described above, the resulting structure is necessarily tested for strength, after which it will be possible to proceed to placing the entire set of items from the computer environment on it.

A photo

Almost every home today has a personal computer. And a special table for him, comfortable, equipped with the necessary shelves for each device, is also not uncommon for a long time. It would seem that the easiest way is to buy such a table in a store, since the choice is wide and allows you to find a suitable option.

But in the store, such a table can cost a lot of money. In addition, the dimensions of the finished product that you like may not match the area and layout of the room. Yes, and sometimes you want to choose a color scheme to your liking, and not from the catalog.

There is a good opportunity to make a computer desk with your own hands. In this article, we will walk you through this process in detail.

How to make drawings of computer tables

Of course, as a computer desk, you can use a student desk or a standard office desk, one of those that were in the classrooms 15-20 years ago. But given the many additional devices, such as a printer, MFP, and many gadgets that connect to the system unit or laptop, you will quickly realize that it is very difficult to sit in such a space for full-fledged work. In addition, the child will need to do homework at the same table, that is, draw, read, write.

It is necessary to make such a table that it has as much useful surface as possible, not occupied by appliances. And all devices - a monitor, a system unit, etc. - will be in their places, and at the same time they will not interfere at all.

We will consider the option of a fully functional computer desk that you can make yourself at no extra cost.

First of all, you need to create a drawing, which will take into account the dimensions of the entire structure. You can see a detailed drawing of a computer desk in the picture:

As you can see, this is the simplest, classic form of the table. Straight lines, conciseness, and at the same time full functionality. Such a table consists of a tabletop, a stand for the system unit, a sliding keyboard, cabinets and shelves.

Please note: the dimensions of the table indicated in the drawing will help you orient the product in the space of the room. If you need a larger or smaller table, just keep the proportions in a suitable scale.

After you have decided on the required dimensions of your computer desk, using the drawing, make a list of everything you need and start shopping.

Materials and tools that you will need in your work

Having studied the scheme of the computer table that we offer you, you probably noticed that for the manufacture of such a piece of furniture you will need many components. The materials that will be required are indicated specifically for the dimensions in the drawing:

  • Board size 12 X 120 mm - 6.2 m;
  • Sandpaper of various grain sizes;
  • ½ sheet of plywood measuring 6 X 1525 X 1525 mm;
  • Furniture board 18 X 600 X 2000 mm, pine - 2.5 pcs;
  • Furniture shield 18 X 400 X 2000 mm - 3 pcs;
  • Furniture shield 18 X 200 X 2000 mm - 2 pcs;
  • Lacquer matte or glossy.
  • 1 set of rails for drawers, 400 mm long;
  • 50 self-tapping screws 5 X 60 mm;
  • dowels;
  • Drawer handles.

You will also need 3 sets of ball or roller guides for drawers, 500 mm long. It is these details that determine the quality, durability and strength of the original, so their choice should be taken responsibly.

For your information: the main advantage of roller guides over ball guides is their low cost. But the rest of the parameters are much lower: the roller guides do not extend completely, they are fragile and they do not have a reliable limiter. In ball telescopic guides, these shortcomings are absent.

In addition to materials, immediately stock up on all the necessary tools:

  • Meter ruler or tape measure;
  • Square;
  • Pencil;
  • Chisel;
  • Hacksaw;
  • Screwdriver;
  • Drill and drill to it;
  • Sander;
  • You may need a dust collector if you are going to work indoors.

After you have stocked up with everything you need to make a computer desk with your own hands, it's time to get to work.

We make blanks for a computer table and assemble the lower frame

At this stage, you need to pay special attention to which you make this piece of furniture.

  1. First of all, mark the details of the computer desk on the surface: vertical walls in the amount of 3 pieces, the bottom of the table, the table top, the cover for the bedside table. Cut them according to the diagram, observing the dimensions.
  2. On the vertical walls, you will need to make cuts of the front upper corners, about 2 X 2 cm in size. Clean the saw cuts with an emery cloth.
  3. It is desirable that the table can be moved close to the wall. To do this, cut off the lower rear corners of the walls so that the resulting slot corresponds to the size of the plinth. According to our scheme, the distance will be 4.5 X 5.5 mm.
  4. On the back side of the vertical wall, located in the center, make a selection at a height of 265 mm above the floor. Its width will be 200 mm, and the depth - 18 mm. At this point you will attach a transverse panel, cut from a 18 x 200 mm board, connecting the vertical sides. Screw it with self-tapping screws to the side walls back to back.
  5. The rear wall of the table will be replaced by a transverse panel, which will provide the structure with the necessary stability and rigidity.
  6. After all the parts are prepared, drill holes in the right places. This must be done in advance, otherwise the workpieces may crack during screwing. Assemble the frame and secure with screws.

Now you need to make a niche in which the system unit will be placed. If you are not an enthusiastic gamer, programmer or system administrator, and you do not need constant access to the components of the system unit, then the best option would be a standard stable niche with self-tapping screws.

Saw out a small side wall and a horizontal shelf. Cut off the front upper corner of the sidewall and clean it with sandpaper. Process the bottom rear corner to fit the plinth. Screw the small sidewall to the shelf and back panel, attach to the large side wall. Close the openings under the bedside table and shelf with plinth panels. Use dowels without as fasteners.

We make a superstructure of a computer table

In order to make a full-fledged multifunctional computer desk, the instruction provides for the presence of not only a tabletop and shelves for additional devices, but also an add-on that will also perform a function.

  1. Mark and saw out the side elements of the structure, round off the front upper sections with sandpaper. To ensure that the sidewalls are evenly fixed on the countertop, first make a template, the thickness of which will be 18 mm. Drill holes in its ends. Attach the finished ends to the countertop and make markings for fasteners.
  2. The marked holes should be drilled according to the following scheme: through - in the countertop, deaf - in the lower ends of the side walls. At this stage, you will need a square, it will help you keep the angles correct. Install the side pieces on the countertop using a leveling square.
  3. Screw the screws under the tabletop, aligning the holes in the lid with the slots in the ends of the sidewalls. After that, take a shield 400 X 2000 mm, and cut it in width along. Thus, you will get a top shelf 315 mm wide and a fixing transverse ledge.
  4. The average vertical wall must be cut out of a shield measuring 200 X 2000 mm. Attach it to the countertop in the same way as the large side walls, controlling the joints with a square. Screw the back side to the sides and lay the top shelf on the end of the central wall. Align and fasten with self-tapping screws.
  5. Now you need to make the left shelf. She needs a shield 200 mm wide. This shelf is designed for a printer or MFP, which means that it must be strong enough and voluminous.

Computer Desk Drawers and Keyboard Drawer

A computer desk with drawers is a very comfortable piece of furniture and a functional element of the interior. This is the table we are currently making. Consider how to make it right.

  1. Saw out the bottoms for the drawers from the plywood, and the side walls from the 12 X 120 mm board. Twist the blanks with 4 pieces of screws and sew the bottom. Adjust the width and depth of the drawer relative to the thickness of the rails and the internal dimensions of the nightstand.
  2. The guides must be fixed from below. Step back from the front edge of the side elements by 18 mm and screw the guides onto the walls. At the same time, observe symmetry and the desired distance. An indent will be needed in order to attach the front panels to the front walls of the drawers.
  3. The keyboard shelf must be cut out taking into account the thickness of the guides of the sliding mechanism.
  4. Now disassemble the design of the table into its constituent elements, sand them and varnish them. After the coating is completely dry, assemble the table again.

Tip: do not tighten the screws several times. This will greatly weaken the nests. If you feel that the fasteners are not strong enough, use wood glue to strengthen the connection.

The drawers and drawer for the keyboard are ready, the design of the computer desk is assembled. The finishing touch remains: install facade panels on the boxes.

  1. Saw out the front parts in the amount of three pieces, mark and drill holes for the handles. The screws fixing the handles will secure the sides of the drawers and the cladding.
  2. Place the cladding panels in the opening of the front side of the pedestal. Use wedges to fix gaps between drawers. Drill holes for handles.
  3. Install the handles and secure them with self-tapping screws, tightening the lining and front walls. On the inside of the drawers, screw in a few more screws to provide additional security.

Your computer desk is completely ready.

Video about making a computer desk with your own hands

As you can see, making a computer desk on your own is not at all difficult. You will not only get a comfortable place to work and relax, which will look good in the room, but also gain experience in carpentry for the manufacture of furniture. Perhaps some of our readers have already dealt with the design and creation of computer tables. Please share your experience in the comments, ask questions that you have while reading this article. We will be happy to discuss the workflow with you and learn something new.

We wish you easy work and comfort in your home!

It is quite difficult to imagine any house of a modern person without various technical equipment. In this respect, of course, the computer takes the lead. For those who prefer compact netbook models, there is no need to be puzzled by the choice of furniture to accommodate them. But if a computer is required not only for entertainment, but primarily for work, then, naturally, more powerful stationary-type equipment will be required. In this case, making a computer desk with your own hands is a rational decision.

Before you make a large or small computer desk with your own hands, you must first of all correctly approach the organization of the process.

Therefore, make an accurate list of all the elements that will make up the complete system. By default it is:

Choose the right material to build the table. Most often, materials such as chipboard are used for this.

How to choose a place for a computer desk?

The next stage of your work is to determine the correct location of the table. Naturally, the less space a computer desk occupies, the better, since the usable area will not be cluttered. But at the same time, it is also not worth minimizing it greatly, since then this piece of furniture is unlikely to fulfill its multifunctional purpose.

Among the basic rules of placement, the mandatory conditions are the following:

How to design a computer desk?

Once you have decided on the room and specific location, it's time to get down to more interesting work - designing a computer desk. To do this, you will need to carefully analyze all the source data, study the rules below and draw up your drawing.

Important! Accuracy and an extremely attentive approach will allow you not only to equip your workplace with maximum comfort, but also significantly reduce your money spent on consumables, so take this step responsibly. In addition, the assembly speed and the number of nerves spent on it will depend on how correctly you determine all the parameters.

Which computer desk to choose?

The first stage of design is the selection of a suitable design. In this regard, there are several criteria:

There are the following types of structures:

How to determine the length of the table?

The required length of the table is determined by a certain number of factors, which include:

How to determine the depth of the table?

Calculating the depth of a computer desk is also easy. In this case, be guided by the following conditions:

How to calculate table height?

The calculation of the table height indicator is also performed no more complicated than the previous parameter. The standard level is 75 cm from the floor. It can vary if your height is far from average, and you will use the computer desk alone. In this case, calculate the height you need as follows:

Height*75/175 cm

Important! In order to clearly understand how to perform the calculation, check out the following example: with a height of 1.82 m, 182 * 75/175 = 78 cm are required.

How to determine the dimensions of the monitor stand?

Many consider the presence of such a constructive element unnecessary, but at the same time it will provide a more convenient view of all the necessary information on the monitor and free up some space.

Depending on the form, these modules of the following type are distinguished:

How to design a computer desk extension?

Increasingly, when choosing a desktop design for a PC, preference is given not to simple, but to more complex options with an add-on. This decision is not accidental, because the usable space is significantly expanded, and the vertical is used for this. It is the extension that can be an excellent option for installing a scanner, printer, storing books and documentation in an orderly manner.

The main requirements for an extension relate to two factors:

  • attractiveness and originality of design;
  • the practicality of the size and location of the shelves.

With regard to dimensions, be sure to consider the installation location of the monitor you have determined and its diagonal:

Take into account some additional recommendations for the design of the extension:
