Standard size drywall sheet. Drywall sheet dimensions: standard length and width What size is the drywall sheet

Drywall is a fertile material for work, plates are used for a variety of purposes. Many owners are interested in knowing about all the parameters of drywall in order to understand whether the material is suitable in a particular case, whether it is too heavy, etc. And, of course, numerical data will be useful in calculations.

Drywall sheet size

A drywall sheet usually has the following parameters - 2500x1200x12.5. Its area will be equal to three square meters. But these values are not strictly required, there are non-standard sizes and manufacturer's features.

Drywall standard also comes in several types. You can consider in more detail the average parameters of drywall of different types.

Sheet types:

 • GKL (regular drywall)- 2500-4000 by 1200 by 9.5 or 2500-4000 by 1200 by 12.5.
 • GKLV (moisture resistant drywall)- may have similar values, but there are also plates with the following parameters: 2500-4000x1200x15.
 • GKLO (fire-resistant drywall)- 2500-4000x1200x15 or 2500-4000 by 1200 by 12.5.
 • GKLVO (moisture-resistant and also fire-resistant drywall) - 2500-4000 by 1200x15 / 2500-4000 by 1200 by 12.5.

Other GKL parameters are also important, for example, height or weight.

Drywall weight

How much does a sheet of drywall weigh? According to GOST, ordinary gypsum plasterboard and moisture-resistant drywall have a mass at which more than a kg will not account for each mm of weight thickness.

Knowing the weight of the GKL, you can calculate what load the structure can withstand. The minimum sheet weight is 12 kg, the maximum is 34 kg. Knowing the specific gravity of drywall, it is easy to determine the weight of the desired structure. And the choice of fasteners also depends on this.

GKL - sheet thickness

The thickness of drywall varies depending on what goals are pursued when using the material.

In residential construction, the thickness of drywall takes on a value from 6.5 to 12.5 mm. For example, in sheets of arched drywall, the thickness will be minimal, but it can withstand bends well.

But wall drywall has a thickness of 12.5 mm - such plates are suitable for a structure of similar strength.

Drywall Width

Most often there are sheets of standard width - 1200 mm, one size is usually available in the construction markets. Plasterboard sheets of smaller width can also be found on sale, but they are not found everywhere, and they are used less often.

This width withstands all standards, it is the most convenient to use.

Drywall sheet area

Most often, you have to calculate the area of drywall in front of the ceiling sheathing. The quadrature of the ceiling surface is calculated as follows - the length of the room is multiplied by the width. The result obtained indicates the number of required square meters of drywall.

How many sheets of drywall are in a pallet

Typically, there are 40 to 68 drywall sheets per pallet. What part will be enough for work can also be calculated.

It all depends on what you are going to do with the sheets, as well as what height is involved. If, for example, the goal is to hang a drywall shelf, or a cabinet, it is impossible for the load to exceed 30 kg per square meter.

Standard dimensions of drywall

The length of one sheet varies from 2 m to 4 m. The thickness of the drywall depends on the purpose of the material - 1200 mm are the standard, but you can also find 600 mm plates, depending on what and where you want to hang.

You can consider the calculations on examples:

 • Let's say you decide to equip the sink in the bathroom by making a drywall countertop. To make measurements correctly, you need to put a drywall sheet on a flat surface, and place the sink, turning upside down, in the middle of the sheet. Circle the sink with a pencil right on the sheet, no matter how heavy it is. Then the sink must be removed, and with a jigsaw, cut a hole marked with a pencil.
 • If you have to hang a water heater on drywall, you must first of all consider how much this water heater weighs. If the frame is wooden and solid, then no special calculations are needed to hang the water heater. If the frame is rare, you will have to carry out calculations so as not to break the drywall. Often, brackets are installed under the water heater - one on the wall at the level of the frame, the second is also attached to the frame, if the distance between the “hangers” on the water heater requires it.

In a word, the weight, length, height, thickness of materials can be very important if you need to calculate the viability of a structure for a particular purpose.

Drywall justifies its size - both weight and thickness are convenient to use, so this material is used not only for large-scale finishing, but also for the manufacture of small structures.

Checking drywall for strength (video - experiment)

A few decades ago, builders had very little knowledge about drywall, and today no repair is complete without this versatile material. This modern coating is widely used in repair and finishing works. That is why it is worth getting acquainted with its main properties, dimensions and scope.

Material Features

GKL is a composite material made in the form of plates. The main component is plaster covered with cardboard. The raw material for the production of GKL is a gypsum core enriched with active additives that increase its density and strength. Due to this, the consumer properties of the material increase significantly, it becomes hard, but at the same time plastic.

The advantages of drywall sheet are obvious:

 • made of natural environmentally friendly materials;
 • differs in the property to maintain certain parameters of the microclimate;
 • bends well;
 • has a wide scope of use;
 • the acidity level of GCR corresponds to that of human skin;
 • has high soundproofing properties;

 • does not emit radiation, completely non-toxic;
 • has a low weight;
 • easy to mount on any surface;
 • allows you to insert lighting elements inside the structure;
 • has a fairly low cost;
 • when processed with a special composition, it exhibits great flexibility and plasticity.

GKL plates are widely used for:

 • formation of a smooth surface;
 • filling the cavities and openings formed during the work;
 • installation of partitions;
 • arrangement of niches;
 • formation of multi-level ceilings;
 • creating interior compositions - arches, columns, shelves.

According to its technical features, drywall is divided into several varieties:

 • standard;
 • fire resistant;
 • moisture resistant;
 • moisture-fire resistant.

The hygroscopic model is most often used to repair shower rooms, and combustible products are widely used in the construction of communication shafts, where water pipes, electrical wiring, telephone and Internet cables, as well as dust removal systems are subsequently installed.

GKL standard parameters

GKL sheets are of different types. GKL - ordinary drywall is widely used for sheathing ceiling frames on walls and ceilings in rooms with a standard humidity indicator. A standard sheet of a typical GKL has dimensions of 2500x1200x12.5, it weighs 29 kg. This type of sheet is covered with gray cardboard and is distinguished by blue markings.

GKLV - waterproof subtype of drywall, the active component in its composition is a special hydrophobic element, and the cardboard is impregnated with a special water-repellent solution. Its dimensions correspond to the parameters of a conventional sheet, the weight is approximately equal to 29 kg. The cardboard is painted green and has a blue marking.

GKLO - a model resistant to burning. This property is due to a special production technology - gypsum is fired under the influence of elevated temperatures and processed with a special mixture of reinforcing components. The mass of a standard sheet is 30.5 kg. The outer side of the cardboard is pink and the markings are red.

GKLVO - combines hygroscopicity and fire resistance. In the production of such drywall, raw materials undergo significant processing, which increases these two parameters. Standard sheets weigh 30.6 kg, the cardboard is green and the markings are red.

There is also a fireboard - a special type of GKL, which exhibits increased refractory properties. These plates resist burning for more than one hour and at the same time do not worsen their physical and technical characteristics. A sheet with dimensions of 2500x1200x12.5 cm and a weight of 31.5 kg has a thickness of approximately 20 mm. Cardboard and markings are made in the same color - red.

GKL parameters vary in accordance with the purpose of the material:

 • Wall is used for wall cladding, its thickness is 12.5 mm.
 • Ceiling serves to form multi-level structures, has a thickness of 9.5 mm.
 • Arched is used for the manufacture of arches, columns and niches, the thickness of such a sheet is 6.5 mm.

There is no single value for the width / thickness / weight of the GCR, only the most common parameters can be distinguished:

 • width - 600 mm or 1200 mm;
 • height - 2000 and 4000 mm;
 • thickness - 6.5mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12.5mm, 14mm, 15mm, 18mm, 18.5mm, 24mm 29mm.

It is these options that are widely represented in hardware stores. However, this does not mean at all that only a standard sheet will be required for work. If interior ideas require any special parameters, then the sheets should be ordered directly from the manufacturer, but you will have to order a whole pallet (pack). GCR parameters are determined according to SP 163.1325800.2014.

Width

As a rule, the width of the GKL is standardly equal to 1200 mm. Based on this, all risers of the frame installed for plasterboard cladding have a pitch of 400 and 600 mm. However, technology does not stand still, and in recent years, modifications with a width of 600 mm, as well as 2500 mm 2000 mm, have been on sale. Small-sized sheets are lightweight, which, of course, facilitates transportation, and even a non-professional can handle their installation.

Thickness

The thickness of the GKL sheet directly affects its scope. For example, for wall cladding and creating shelves, GKL 12.5mm is used. The thickness of the ceiling plates is less - 9 mm, but this type is quite rare on sale, so the ceiling, like the walls, is mainly sheathed with sheets 12.5 mm thick, only fewer profiles are used, and the step is 60 cm. For the manufacture of interior compositions, gypsum board 6 mm thick is used, such sheets are very plastic, they are optimal for creating arches, forming undulating decorative elements. However, such sheets do not withstand loads, so it is recommended to lay the material in 2-3 layers.

Length

Standard GKL has a length of 2; 2.5 and 3m. For ease of installation, individual manufacturers produce a sheet of 1.5; 2.7 and 3.6m. For small structures, the manufacturer can cut drywall to his customers directly at the factory.

Length often becomes a real problem during the transportation phase., therefore, drywall with a length of more than 2.5 meters is in rather low demand, respectively, it is presented on the market in a small assortment. Too long plasterboards can increase the unproductive consumption of material, for example, for a room 2.7 m long, you should not buy a three-meter sheet. This will result in a lot of clippings that are hard to use in any way.

Long options are heavier and more difficult to install, working with them requires the involvement of help, since it is rather problematic to cope on your own. At the same time, long sheets avoid unnecessary butt joints and create a perfectly smooth surface. Before you purchase a large drywall, make sure that it will go into the entrance, apartment, fit in the elevator.

Weight

When planning finishing work, you need to know exactly how much each drywall sheet weighs. This will help to correctly distribute the forces that will be required to complete all the work, as well as the ability of the structure to withstand a certain load. This is very important, as it will avoid defects and collapse of the structure in the future. The standard parameters of the GKL are 2500x1200x125 mm, while the sheet area is 3 square meters. m., such a plate weighs about 29 kg.

The usual GKL, as well as GKLV, in accordance with the standards, has a mass not exceeding 1 kg per millimeter of sheet thickness, and the GKLO and GKLVO index for each millimeter ranges from 0.8 to 1.06 kg.

1 sq. m. drywall sheet weighs:

 • 5 kg - with a thickness of 6.5 mm;
 • 7.5 kg - at 9.5 mm;
 • 9.5 kg - with GKL 12.5 mm.

It is very important before starting work to correctly calculate the load per 1 square meter of coverage. If you plan to fix something heavy on it, for example, a wall is installed under water heaters, then give preference to completely blank plates, they can handle weights up to 150 kg / m2.

What influences the size?

The choice of drywall sheet size is extremely important as it reduces the amount of material used and overall repair costs. Among the most important parameters, thickness occupies a special place, because the strength of the GKL and, accordingly, the strength and capabilities of the structure itself largely depend on it. The thickness of the sheet should be selected, focusing on the type of planned work. The standard GKL for partitions has a thickness of 12.5 mm, it can withstand 50 kg of weight per square meter of sheet without tension, however, the use of drywall fasteners is a prerequisite, and the load must not be of an impact type. Such sheets are used to form walls and decorative partitions.

If you need to mount a single large load on the wall, for example, hang an air conditioner, then in this case you can also use standard sheets of 12.5 mm. But at the place of installation of the load, additional reinforcement of the crate is required.

If you plan to fix several shelves or wall cabinets, for example, kitchen or corner decor products, then it is advisable to give preference to models with a greater thickness based on the following data:

 • A 14 mm drywall sheet can withstand a load of 65 kg / sq. m.
 • A 16 mm plate will cope with a weight of 75 kg per 1 square meter.
 • Thickness 18-20 mm is used for loads up to 90 kg/sq. m.
 • Sheet in 24mm accepts 110kg/sq. m.

If there were no thick sheets on sale, you can lay the standard GKL in several overlapping rows. This may be easier and more economical, given the low availability of thick sheets in the open market.

It is important to take into account the features of the room in which the repair work is carried out. If this is an apartment or a private house, then it is quite possible to get by with thin sheets, since the owners of the premises treat it with care and are unlikely to purposefully strike and mechanically damage it. If we are talking about industrial facilities or warehouses, then the strength of the structure comes to the fore in terms of safety, therefore, sheathing with sheets with a thickness of 14 mm or more is required here.

For the formation of interior structures, special GKL sheets with a thickness of 6 mm are used. They are plastic, bend well, so they are often used for mounting undulating decorative elements. But for arch installations, this thickness is not suitable, since it will not cope with the load. Preference should be given to denser sheets or to lay thin GKL in several layers.

If the owner of the premises plans to hang paintings on the walls, then it is worth purchasing a sheet with a thickness of 10mm. To mount a plasma TV, it is better to stop at the thickest sheet. Otherwise, the structure may collapse and the TV may break. If the wall is not subjected to load, then in this situation it is enough to limit the GKL to 8 mm.

Similarly, drywall is selected to level the ceiling and create multi-level coatings. It is necessary to know exactly what will be fixed in it, and what load will be per square meter of area. Experts recommend taking thin sheets with a thickness of 9.5 as a base point, they are lightweight, so they do not overload the floors. Such material easily withstands built-in lamps located at a standard distance of 60 cm from each other.

For conceptual multi-level ceilings, one should stop at a thinner gypsum plasterboard with a thickness of 6 mm, since the frame of this form is not so strong, and the pressure on it is higher, therefore, it is necessary to reduce the pressure on the floors to the maximum. In addition, thin plasterboards are easier to install and do not require a lot of time.

Before purchasing a sheet of drywall in a hardware store, you should make sure that it is of proper quality. Pay particular attention to storage conditions, as many vendors store material outdoors without any kind of weatherproofing or in warehouses with high levels of humidity. Constant exposure to moisture and temperature changes causes a deterioration in the technical and physical parameters of the material, which worsens its performance and in the future leads to the appearance of defects and collapse of structures.

Keep in mind that the technical conditions strictly prohibit the installation of pallets with gypsum boards on top of each other. The increased load causes the appearance of cracks, chips and deformation of the gypsum core.

It is not allowed to drag sheets of drywall over the ground or uneven surface. This can damage the top layer of cardboard, reduce the strength and durability of the material. It is the violation of these conditions that causes a large number of defective products in warehouses, and the buyer, especially when faced with the acquisition of FCL for the first time, may not even notice damage at the time of purchase.

 • Purchase products only in large hardware stores and have a good reputation and high traffic and fast turnover. There should not be stale goods.
 • Try to visit the warehouse and get acquainted with the storage conditions of the GKL. If you feel that the humidity in the room is increased, you should refuse to buy in this place.
 • When loading and delivering plates, inspect each sheet for chips, cracks, dents.
 • Be sure to control the actions of the loaders, this will serve as a guarantee of protection against damage to the goods.
 • If you plan to buy a large batch of plasterboards, then first take one sheet "for testing" - cut it with a knife and evaluate its degree of uniformity

Making repairs in an apartment, country house or country house, you want to have maximum coziness and comfort in living rooms. It is achieved with the help of interior decoration. For this, drywall is used, since the material is relatively cheap and easy to install.

When initially working with this material, it must be borne in mind that there is a standard drywall size (2500x1200x12.5 mm) and non-standard, and it is also desirable to know its weight and thickness. This information will help you to buy and cut the finishing material correctly.

What are the dimensions of drywall?

On sale drywall sheets are found in the following sizes:

 • The width of drywall can be either 600 mm or 1200 mm.
 • The length of the sheet varies from 2000 mm to 4000 (in increments of five hundred millimeters).
 • Thickness happens: 6,5; 8; 9.5; 12.5; fourteen; 16; eighteen; 18.5; 24; 29 millimeters.

If you need other sizes of drywall and at the same time a large batch of goods is purchased, the manufacturer will meet you and produce sizes suitable for construction.

Do not forget that drywall is puff paper with plaster. Therefore, it works well in tension, but satisfactorily in compression. And this factor must be taken into account.

Types of drywall

There are several types of drywall sheets:

 • GKL is a common drywall used for finishing walls, ceilings and partitions in a warm and dry room.
 • VGKL - these sheets have a water-repellent and antifungal impregnation and are suitable for finishing rooms with high humidity.
 • GKLO - fire-resistant plasterboard sheets, a wide spectrum of action.

The most popular in construction are drywall sheets with a thickness of 12.5, 9 and 6 mm; 1.2 meters wide and 2.5 to 3 meters long. Working alone with large sheets is inconvenient. As an option, this is the purchase of small sheets of drywall. But at the same time, the cost of the goods and the number of joints that will need to be sealed increase.

The company manufacturer Knauf has started producing small-sized sheets, the size of which is 1500x600 mm. They are easy to install and transport. Perhaps the last thing you need to know is that when cladding walls, it is better to use sheets of drywall with a thickness of 12.5 mm, but if you need to bend drywall, for example for arches, then 6 and 9 mm.

You also need to consider that in small hardware stores you can only find the standard size of drywall. Therefore, before starting repair work, make a calculation of building materials and buy everything at once in building supermarkets.

Plasterboard systems are widely used in repair and construction work. False partitions are made from this material, walls are leveled with it and ceilings are hemmed. Depending on the purpose of the structures, wall or ceiling plasterboard is used. The main difference between them is the thickness of the sheet. Ceiling products are thinner and lighter, so they are easier to install and have less weight. Sheets of this material are used to level the ceiling surface and the device of multi-level systems.

Ceiling GKL is very popular because the surface can be finished with different materials. Gypsum sheet after puttying and grinding is painted with interior paints, pasted over with wallpaper, tiled.

In addition, an extensive scope of use is associated with simple and quick installation, which can be done by hand. After laying the GKL, the ceiling becomes perfectly smooth and even. The product is fixed on the base surface by attaching it to a metal and wooden crate or by gluing it to a special glue.

Depending on the scope of use, several varieties of this material are distinguished, differing in their technical characteristics. Consider each type of GCR separately.

moisture resistant

Moisture-resistant gypsum boards for the ceiling are mounted in rooms with a high level of humidity. They are suitable for installation in the pool, bathroom or bath. Such products withstand not only high humidity, but also direct contact with water, so they do not deteriorate after being flooded by neighbors from above.

Attention! Moisture-resistant GKL differs from standard sheets in a greenish tint of cardboard coating, which hides the gypsum core.

The surface of moisture-resistant sheets is primed, puttied and painted with any composition, even mixtures with a significant percentage of water, which cannot be said about traditional GCR. The latter material swells and deforms from the use of formulations with a large amount of water.

fire retardant

Fire-resistant coatings are easy to distinguish from other varieties, because they have a characteristic pinkish color of the cardboard surface. Thanks to special impregnations, this material resists fire for some time. The scope of use of the coating is determined by the fire requirements for the room.

It is used in:

 • corridors of public buildings;
 • places with high fire risk;
 • on stairwells;
 • along the evacuation routes.

Standard

When performing repair work in rooms with normal humidity, standard drywall sheets are usually used. Such premises should not be subject to special fire safety requirements. These boards are coated with gray cardboard and have blue markings.

Important! The thickness of the plasterboard ceiling from standard ceiling sheets is 9.5 m (subject to the use of frameless mounting technology). All other varieties are several millimeters thicker.

Acoustic

Thanks to microscopic perforation, the product has improved sound absorption, therefore it protects the room from external noise and reduces the passage of sound waves from the room to the outside. The damping of the sound wave is achieved due to its multiple refraction in the holes on the surface of the material.

The scope of acoustic GKL is quite extensive:

 • ordinary apartments with noisy upstairs neighbors;
 • lecture halls;
 • audiences;
 • cinema halls;
 • recording studios;
 • hotels.

Arched

Because this product is designed to mount on curved surfaces, it is thinner than standard plasterboard ceilings. It is used for covering surfaces with a smooth curved configuration, figured ceilings and arched structures. Usually these are products with a gray cardboard color and a reduced thickness.

Advice! Arched drywall is not always on sale. Instead, for mounting on curved surfaces, you can use a standard GKL. To bend it, longitudinal stripes are made on the cardboard, and then they are bent, or the cardboard layer is pierced with a spiked roller, moistened with water and, after getting wet, bent.

GKL dimensions and thickness

The size of the ceiling plasterboard depends on the purpose of the plates and the manufacturer. The dimensions of the plates are standard and reduced by 2 times. In the first case, the width of the product is 120 cm, and in the second - only 60 cm. The average length is 2.5 m, but there are sheets from 1.2 to 3 m long. Reduced plates with a width of 60 cm usually come with a length of no more than 120 cm.

Most often on sale there are the following sizes of plasterboard sheets for the ceiling:

 • 2000x1200 mm;
 • 2500x1200 mm;
 • 3000x1200 mm;
 • 1200x600 mm.

Wall plates have a thickness of 12.5 mm. This is due to the need to create sufficient surface strength. These products are used for leveling walls and arranging niches, false partitions, built-in wardrobes. Since plates with such a thickness are rather heavy, they are rarely used for ceiling mounting, although this option is no exception. However, it is possible to mount such sheets upstairs only in a room with reliable walls and ceilings. They are not suitable for mounting on old dilapidated bases.

The thickness of the ceiling plasterboard is 9.5 mm. Such products weigh less, so they are easier to install and do not significantly burden the structure. Due to sufficient strength and low weight, multi-level systems can be built from plasterboard ceilings.

Arched plates have a thickness of 6.5 mm. Due to this, the material is easier to bend and mounted on curved structures. However, bending the product along a small radius will not work, because it will break.

Advice! For installation on a ceiling in a residential area with a normal level of humidity and a low fire hazard, a standard GKL sheet with a thickness of 0.95 cm is optimally suited.

Stove storage rules

The quality and technical characteristics of drywall are affected by the conditions in which it was stored and compliance with storage rules.

To prevent the material from being deformed or damaged, follow the following recommendations for storing the gypsum sheet:

 1. Immediately after purchase, let the material mature in the room where it will be installed for at least 48 hours. During this time, the product adapts to the conditions in the room and gives off excess moisture, which is absorbed during transportation in the cold season. If this is not done, then the surface may be deformed after installation.
 2. So that the plates do not lose their strength and other technical qualities, do not store them near sources of thermal energy. Otherwise, the material becomes brittle and quickly breaks during installation. The smallest distance from heaters, stoves and heating appliances is 50 cm.
 3. If the plates are stored vertically, then creases form on the lower edge, which cannot be removed, and the surface is deformed. To prevent this from happening, store sheets only in a horizontal position. Moreover, it is recommended to lay the material on special wooden pallets, which provide natural air circulation from below.
 4. Do not store the product outdoors. Even in summer, condensation accumulates under the plastic film, which appears due to daily temperature changes. Moisture accumulated under the film will lead to damage to the material and deformation of the surface.

Drywall manufacturers

In construction stores you can find gypsum boards of French, Russian, German, Ukrainian and Polish production. The Russian plant Kipros produces material of excellent quality at an affordable price. One plate can be bought for $4.3.

The most popular in many countries is the German Knauf brand drywall. The range of this manufacturer includes standard boards, fire-resistant and moisture-resistant gypsum products. German GKL is especially appreciated for its good quality.

The price of Knauf products is as follows:

 • slabs for rooms with normal humidity with dimensions of 2500x1200x9.5 mm are sold for $ 3.75 apiece;
 • moisture resistant GKL has a size of 2500x1200x12.5 mm and costs $ 6.5 per sheet.

In addition to drywall, when installing ceiling structures, they use a special glue or a system of metal profiles, as well as a primer, putty and the necessary components. Masters advise using products from one manufacturer.

Thanks to a large selection of types of drywall, you can choose the material, taking into account the purpose of the room and the processes taking place in it. In order for the drywall construction to last as long as possible, follow the installation technology and storage rules for drywall.

Drywall is one of the most popular building materials. The main advantage of the material is that its use allows you to expand the range of design solutions and create structures of various shapes, decorate walls and ceilings in any room. This article discusses the parameters that allow you to choose the right drywall: price per sheet, dimensions, thickness, purpose, and others.

The main material that is part of the drywall sandwich is gypsum. It is a natural salt, which is formed naturally from sea water.

In order to obtain a gypsum plasterboard (GCR), the extracted raw material must undergo pre-treatment, which includes two processes:

 • burning. The temperature at which such a process takes place is approximately 180–190°C;
 • grinding.

For the manufacture of GKL of the desired shape, a solution is mixed with water, sometimes fiberglass is added. It is a component that significantly increases the deformation resistance of GKL, and also positively affects the refractory qualities. On both sides of the gypsum sheet, cardboard is fixed, which is environmentally friendly. Such cardboard is made from cellulose and impregnated at the production stage with special flame retardant additives.

The main types of drywall sheets

Depending on the purpose and technical features, all GCRs are divided into the following types:

 • standard;
 • moisture resistant;
 • fire resistant;
 • waterproof and fireproof;
 • acoustic.

Standard and moisture resistant plasterboard sheet 12 mm. Price per sheet and specifications

Standard GKL is used when it is necessary to perform interior finishing work. With the help of standard GKL, walls are leveled, and partitions, multi-level ceilings, etc. are equipped. To calculate materials for finishing work, you need to know the length and height of drywall sheets. Sheet dimensions are usually 2500x1200 mm. Cardboard for standard sheets is gray and is indicated by blue markings. Standard GKL are used in rooms with normal humidity.

Moisture-resistant plasterboard sheets are used in rooms whose humidity level exceeds the permissible values. But its use is advisable only if the room has an exhaust ventilation system. In turn, the front surface of the sheet must be provided with a waterproofing material (paint, primer, PVC coating).

The dimensions of the moisture-resistant gypsum plasterboard are the same as those of standard gypsum boards. Such sheets are used for the construction of slopes. GKLV in combination with waterproofing materials are used for sheathing work surfaces in rooms with a high level of humidity. These include the bathroom.

Useful information! Moisture-resistant drywall is characterized by increased strength; it can be used for decoration of public premises.

The material includes various hydrophobic additives, due to which the sheet is able to absorb a minimum amount of moisture (no more than 10%). In this case, the sheet has a green color and is indicated by a blue marking. The price and size of a moisture-resistant drywall sheet may vary. However, products of standard sizes (2500x1200x12 mm) range from 295 to 395 r per sheet.

Fire-resistant, water-resistant and acoustic drywall

Refractory building products are used when it is necessary to finish the surface, which is located in close proximity to the source of fire (for example, the inner surface). This is exactly the option, which is mixed with fiberglass, which makes it resistant to fire.

Refractory sheets are used in rooms where the humidity level may be low or normal. Cardboard in this case can be either pink or red. Gypsum plasterboard refractory sheets are marked red.

Waterproof and refractory gypsum board (GKLVO) has a high fire resistance coefficient, and also has a reduced water absorption. The combination of properties allows the use of such plasterboard sheets in baths and steam rooms. However, it can also be used for ordinary interior finishing work. GKLVO sheet cardboard is distinguished by green color and red marking.

Acoustic GKL differ from other varieties in that it has a high sound insulation coefficient. This property allows this material to be used for wall and ceiling decoration in concert halls, dance studios, as well as rooms where sound recording is made. The main difference between acoustic drywall and standard drywall is that its surface has holes, with a cross section of about 1 cm. The reverse side of the acoustic plasterboard is equipped with a coating that does an excellent job of absorbing sound waves.

Dimensions of drywall sheets: length, height and thickness

The standard length of the GKL is 2.5 m, and the width is 1.2 m. The following dimensions can also be attributed to the standard length: 3 and 3.5 m. In addition to standard sizes, you can find plasterboard sheets in markets and hardware stores, the length of which maybe 4 m. Sometimes there are sheets with a length of 1.2 m (small). The dimensions and prices of drywall are interconnected. For example, sheets with a thickness of 9.5 mm are cheaper than twelve-millimeter products.

The standard width of a drywall sheet is 1200 mm (1.2 m), however, there are products on sale in which this figure can be 2 times lower (625 mm). Such sheets will cost less.

As for the thickness of the GCR, the standard indicators include the following:

 • 12.5mm;
 • 9.5 mm.

Deviation from the thickness standard is also a common practice. If necessary, you can purchase GKL with a thickness of 6.6 mm. In this case, their mass will be much lower, as well as the cost of drywall per sheet. There are also sheets with a different thickness - from 8 to 24 mm, which can significantly expand their operational area.

Differences between wall and ceiling plasterboard

The dimensions of wall drywall in the form of sheets may be different, however, they are all considered standard. The length of the wall plasterboard varies from 2000 to 4000 mm. The minimum width is 625mm and the maximum width is 1200mm. The standard thickness of drywall, which is used for wall cladding, is 12.5 mm.

Note! For wall decoration, sheets are most often used, the dimensions of which are 2500x1200x12.5 mm.

If it is necessary to sheathe walls in an apartment or house with high ceilings, then it is recommended to use sheets with the greatest length (4 m). Thus, we can conclude that the dimensions of the GKL are selected depending on the specific situation.

Drywall used for ceiling mounting should be lighter in itself to make the installation process as easy as possible. For sheathing ceilings, GKL with a thickness of 8 or 9.5 mm is used. The minimum thickness allows for a reduction in the weight of the suspended ceiling, which in turn allows you to reduce financial costs when purchasing profiles for fixing drywall.

The price of a plasterboard ceiling is much lower than in the case of installing wall material. If necessary, you can use the services of professionals who, on average, take about 250 rubles. for the installation of 1 square meter of plasterboard ceiling. The price per m2 of drywall installation on the wall and ceiling also depends on the complexity of the work.

Overview of the cost of installing GKL:

The price per m2 of installation of plasterboard partitions is calculated depending on the number of layers of drywall (1 or 2), as in other cases. Thus, we can conclude that the prices per sq. m. of drywall installation differ depending on the installation site, the complexity of the work (including the creation of curly elements), the number of layers of gypsum material, etc.

In order to answer a common question: how much drywall sheets weigh, you need to familiarize yourself with the data presented below. The table below shows the dependence of the weight of the GKL on their dimensions.

GKL weight dependence on dimensions:

GKL dimensions, mm GKL thickness, mm Weight, kg Average cost, rub.
2000x1200 9,5 18 230
12,5 24 150
2500x1200 9,5 22,5 195
12,5 29 210
3000x1200 9,5 35 435
12,5 27 400

Note! The weight of the drywall sheet 12.5 mm is indicated for a reason. Such sheets are in the greatest demand among buyers.

How much does drywall cost: an overview of the types and prices of various modifications

For each person who is going to use GKL for the interior decoration of his house or apartment, first of all, you need to study how much a drywall sheet costs. Prices that can be found on the Internet vary depending on the brands and sizes of the GKL. The price can be indicated both per square meter of material, and for a full sheet.

To date, there are quite different, in terms of cost, drywall sheets. If you wish, you can purchase very cheap products, the price of which will be no more than 150 rubles. per sheet. Inexpensive drywall will save on repairs, but you need to understand that when buying cheap material, you should not rely on high quality products. After all, the quality of any building material directly depends on its price. You can buy drywall in sheets with high quality standards from 230 to 250 rubles. per piece

As mentioned above, the price of this finishing material also depends on the manufacturer's company. For example, the price of Knauf drywall is somewhat higher than in the case of other brands. For example, the cheapest sheets from this German manufacturer range from 220 to 240 rubles. per piece More expensive GKL from the KNAUF brand can be purchased for 300-340 rubles.

Profiles for drywall: sizes and prices

Today you can find different profiles for drywall. The size and cost of these products also vary. The thickness of the metal profiles from the German manufacturer Knauf ranges from 0.5 to 0.8 mm. The ability to choose different thicknesses allows you to assemble frames that can withstand the required weight.

Useful information! Profiles for drywall are equipped with anti-corrosion protection by means of galvanizing at the production stage. This procedure allows you to enhance their strength properties and extend the service life as a whole.

Profiles can have a different design, which allows you to perform building models of any configuration. Depending on the design features, all profiles are divided into several varieties.

Length of profiles of different types:

Product name Length, m
rack 2–6
guide 2,5–6
Ceiling 2,75–4,5
Arched
Angular until 6

Rack profiles: description, use and prices

In the international nomenclature of building materials, such products are designated by the Latin letters CW. Such profiles are most often used for the installation of metal battens. Metal battens are needed to fix the plasterboard on false walls or ceilings.

The algorithm for using rack profiles is as follows:

 1. First of all, the rack-mount strips are inserted into the guides, which are fixed along the perimeter of the false wall (or ceiling).
 2. Next, the profiles are aligned in the desired plane.

The structure made of profiles is the basis for further installation of the GKL. Planks, which are of the rack type, are produced in a width of 60 mm, and their height is 27 mm. The length of the rack bar can be different (from 2 to 6 meters).

If the length of the bar does not correspond to the specified goal, then it is possible to combine two or more bars into one profile. Docking of individual slats is carried out with the help of special fixing elements. If desired, the strips can be connected in such a way that they are perpendicular to each other.

Such profiles may have different markings, depending on the manufacturer. Marking of rack slats can be as follows:

 • CD (Knauf);
 • PP (Giprok).

The price of a profile for rack-mount drywall varies from 150 to 400 rubles per package. The range of prices is due to different brands of products, as well as dimensions. Packages most often contain a standard number of parts (12 pieces).

The average cost of rack profiles:

Profile size, mm price, rub.
50x50x3000 190
75x50x3000 240
100x50x3000 290
50x50x4000 279
70x50x4000 325

Guide profiles

This type of profile has the international designation UW. These products are produced in the shape of the letter "P". From the name we can conclude that such products are used as guide elements. When assembling the frame structure, racks or guides are fixed to them, after which drywall is installed. Prices for guide profiles vary depending on the length of the product.

The guide bar is 28 mm wide and 27 mm high. The guide rails are fixed to the work surface using dowels. The length of the guide part can be different (from 2.5 to 6 m).

Average cost of guide profiles:

Profile size, mm price, rub.
28x27 105
50x40 175
65x40 210
100x40 275

Ceiling and arched profiles

The international designation of the ceiling profile is CD. Ceiling strips are used for quick assembly of frame structures that are fixed to the ceiling and then sheathed with plasterboard.

The thickness of the ceiling strips varies from 0.45 to 0.55 mm. The standard length of the ceiling profile is 3 m. The most common ceiling strips with dimensions of 60x27 mm.

The average cost of a ceiling profile:

A variety of arched planks differs from the rest in that they have a curvilinear shape. Arched planks are used to organize arched openings and other structures that have a complex shape.

Such products are marked with Latin letters CD and UD. When mounting such parts, it is possible to bend them along the required radius. This possibility is realized due to the fact that the body of this type of profile is supplied with holes and notches at the manufacturing stage.

In the building materials market and in specialized stores, you can often find ready-made (curved) profiles. The bending radius of such a profile can vary from 0.5 to several meters, and the length from 2 to 6 m. Profiles of this type have a fairly wide range of prices. You can buy a profile for arched drywall for both 30 and 200 rubles. Here, the design feature of the part plays a very important role.

Useful information! It often happens that a profile with the required radius is not found on sale, and even straight arched notched models are not available. In this case, experienced craftsmen advise you to make notches on a regular profile and make a bend of the desired radius yourself.

Corner profiles

Products of this type are divided into two types:

 • protective;
 • plastering.

The first type of corner strips is used in order to ensure the protection of the outer corners of plasterboard structures (for example, in doorways). Fixation of the corner strip is made by means of plaster, which penetrates into the holes of the profile and securely fixes it in the required position. The second type is also called beacons and is used when plastering walls.

The cost of popular models of corner profiles:

Product size and name, mm price, rub.
Perforated aluminum corner profile, 20x20, 3000 27
Corner profile galvanized mesh 35x35, 3000 39
Profile corner white PVC, 30x30, 3000 63
Protective corner profile, 31×31,3000 129
Corner metalized on a paper basis for internal corners, 3050 260

As a rule, when assembling drywall structures, experienced craftsmen try to use materials from one company. For example, for fastening gypsum plasterboards, Knauf brands acquire Knauf profiles for drywall, of which there are many types and sizes. It makes no sense to use expensive drywall, but save on the profile, because the durability of the entire structure depends on the quality and reliability of the parts for the frame. And in order not to exceed the budget limit allocated for repairs, you need to carefully calculate the amount of materials, choose the optimal sheet size to minimize the amount of leftovers.
