The safest country. The most dangerous and safest countries to travel

For most people looking at a map of the globe, the illusion of a free choice of a place to live is created. It seems that you point your finger at random where it is warm all year round, buy a ticket, pack your suitcase and go to meet with a corner of paradise. But in fact, there are countries that you should not go to for a better life.

By what criteria is the danger of countries determined?

According to recent studies, it is customary to evaluate a country according to four main criteria:

  1. Level of medical care;
  2. Accident rate of local transport;
  3. Indicators of street crime;
  4. The degree of activity of terrorist groups.

There is also the Global Peace Index, which is calculated on a number of indicators and helps determine the level of danger or security of the country in question. For example:

  • by the number of internal and external conflicts of the state;
  • by the level of political instability within the country and in the international arena;
  • by the number of murders in the country;
  • on external and internal circulation of weapons and their availability;
  • and according to other criteria.

Today, many countries make their own ratings of dangerous places for their citizens. Due to the difficult political situation, there is an increased risk to the lives of representatives of some nationalities in different parts of the world. For this reason, ratings compiled by experts from different countries may differ.

List of most dangerous countries

For women

The level of danger of the state for the residence of the female population is analyzed using indicators such as social status, the level of violence, the availability of education and qualified medical care. Based on these data, 10 countries can be identified in which it is worth thanking God for being lucky to be born a man.

1.Afghanistan

Here there is a death rate during childbirth of about 10%, 9 out of 10 women cannot read, and almost 2/3 are forced into marriage.

Afghanistan is a dangerous place to stay not only for women, in this state inter-ethnic conflicts very often occur that affect uninvolved foreign citizens

2. Congo

In this country, the level of sexual violence against women and even girls is beyond statistics, and medical care is completely absent. Therefore, pregnancy becomes a survival game.

During armed conflicts in the Congo, tens of thousands of women and girls were subjected to sexual violence. Today, the practice of forcibly conscripting women into armed groups as field “wives” is widespread.

3. Pakistan

The concept of “honor killing” is widespread - within the family, men can take the life of women if there is the slightest suspicion that they have tarnished the reputation of the clan.

4. India

Kidnapping of girls in this country is a frequent occurrence.

Women in India are often commodified as they are kidnapped and raped, and investigations into crimes against the rights of the weaker sex are extremely slow

5. Somalia

A huge number of rapes and lack of medical care put this state on the list of the most dangerous. In addition, female circumcision is still practiced here, as a result of which girls die.

Pregnancy for a Somali woman is a game of survival. Due to the fact that there is practically no medical infrastructure in Somalia, women often simply do not survive after childbirth

6. Guatemala

Women have no rights here, domestic violence is almost the norm.

7. Iraq

Real hell and gender discrimination.

8. Chad

Women do not have any rights, here they are given in marriage when they are barely 10-12 years old.

9. Sudan

Attempts are being made to pass laws protecting women's rights, but this does not save them from a nightmarish number of abductions, cases of violence and murders.

10. Mali

Until now, circumcision and forced marriage are practiced in this country.

For both genders

There are also places where the risk to life is equally high for both sexes. This sad list includes countries in which you can not only get yourself into trouble, but there is a high probability of never returning home.

Gaza Strip

In this territory, there is a high risk of falling under random shelling or being taken hostage by terrorists.

Sudan

The country lives in conditions of extreme poverty, so the population is consumed by terrorism.

Somalia

Being here is equally dangerous for both sexes due to the huge number of kidnappings of foreigners for ransom.

Iraq

Constant military clashes within the country have led to the fact that armed criminals feel confident and with impunity.

Colombia

Regular kidnappings, murders of people and huge amounts of drug trafficking have made the country very dangerous for living and tourism.

List of the safest countries

Unfortunately, none of the countries of the former USSR even made it to the top ten of the safest states with favorable living conditions.

Denmark

Excellent social programs for the population, low crime rate and minimal risk of natural disasters are all reasons why this country has the best living conditions.

A high standard of living, excellent climatic conditions, a low percentage of crimes committed per year - all this makes Denmark a desirable place to live.

Iceland

Untouched nature and zero crime rate give confidence and peace of mind.

Luxembourg

This tiny country has a very developed economy per capita.

New Zealand

A stable economy, isolation from the flow of immigrants, lack of political unrest and beautiful scenery make this country a paradise.

Norway

A state with a strong economy and political system, social programs are working well, and the crime rate is minimal - for these reasons, many would like to live here.

After studying the levels of crime in countries, experts have compiled a rating of places where tourists can feel safe.

  • Cyprus. Cases of theft or attacks on tourists are almost never recorded.
  • Singapore. Security is maintained here by harsh laws.
  • New Zealand. Tourists have something to see here, poisonous insects and snakes are not found, and the crime rate can be called miserable.
  • Ireland. The country with the lowest level of crime, cases of attacks on tourists are very rare.
  • Iceland. Murders are rare here, and prisoners are even allowed to go home on weekends, which does not affect the crime statistics in any way.

Interestingly, in the ranking of the most favorable countries for life, Russia, according to 2019 data, did not even enter the first 50 places and took 61 positions. She was left behind by the countries of the former USSR: Belarus (58th place), Estonia (36th place) and Kazakhstan (47th place).

The highest crime rate

If there are countries in which crime can be compared to a childish prank, then there is a possibility that at the other end of this scale there are truly hellish places.

  • Mexico. The power of drug cartels in this country is strong, so crime thrives in the country.
  • Ethiopia. The extreme poverty of people has led to the fact that foreigners are often kidnapped here. Windows are broken in cars to steal the contents.
  • Cote d'Ivoire. The civil war brought the country to a state of poverty, there is no law.
  • Chad. The only hope of the inhabitants is cattle breeding and agriculture. People here are kidnapped for ransom and for the purpose of cannibalism.
  • Lebanon. Once a prosperous state, today, due to political and religious contradictions, it is unable to curb the wave of unpunished crime.
  • Yemen. The state's dictatorship, Islamist restrictions, and government cooperation with criminal gangs have led to the fact that this country is included in the list of places with a high level of danger.
  • Zimbabwe. The collapsed economy has turned the state into a terrible corner of the earth.

Loyal attitude towards sexual minorities

Today, the flow of gay migrants is sent to countries where people can feel free. Several countries are in the lead, which they choose most often for life.

  • Netherlands
  • Iceland
  • Canada
  • Spain
  • United Kingdom
  • Ireland
  • Belgium
  • Australia
  • Malta
  • Uruguay

It is interesting that some countries did not take part in the survey and study, since for religious and other reasons it is impossible to study this issue in them. Among such states were Iran, Bahrain, Tajikistan, the United Arab Emirates and others.

In search of a better life or for the sake of adventure, you can find a reliable piece of paradise, but there is also the risk of finding a final resting place that seems like hell. Everyone is free to decide whether to pack his bags or think before setting off on the road.

On this page I present the most peaceful and calm countries for 2018. Previously, it was decided not to create a new page every time, but just change this one. I have already published the rankings of the countries of the world for 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017, followed by the long-awaited ranking of the next, 2018.

Or the most peaceful countries are ranked from the first to the last and most criminal, respectively. The rating was taken from the website Vision of Humanity, which is compiled by humanity from all over the world. In parentheses, each country indicates by how many steps it has risen or fallen since the previous year. The safest are the countries of Scandinavia and Europe, however, as always :) This year, many countries soared up and down. The African Gambia was especially surprised: it rose by as much as 34 steps, as well as the African Togo: it fell by 36 steps. But Russia is still close to 10th place in the most criminal countries, since last year it has not really distinguished itself. However, over the past 25 years, it has always been like this ... And Ukraine has remained inferior to Russia since Poroshenko came to power. I wonder what it will look like in the future? Wait and see.

When they say “the safest country in the world”, they mean that its inhabitants feel calm, cozy and comfortable. They are not afraid of becoming victims of a murderer or a robber on the street, they are confident in the future, they are financially and socially protected.

In such a state there is no war, and the risk of its occurrence is reduced to almost zero. Also, there are practically no protests and other unrest. Security is very important - it is a stable, highly developed economy. So what is the safest country in the world?

Ranking of the safest countries in the world to live in

The rating below is compiled by a group of experts from around the world. As a result of their work in 2017, the picture turned out as follows:

1. Iceland. This northern state has been leading the list of the safest countries in the world for several years. Even the relatively recent collapse of the Icelandic banks did not affect his position. The country's economy still remains stable, and all thanks to the fact that for many centuries the state has invested in its development, avoiding wars and other cataclysms.

2. New Zealand. In second place are states from the Southern Hemisphere. The prisons of this picturesque country are practically empty, the army is purely symbolic. New Zealand maintains close friendly relations with Australia and is a very hospitable state, attracting tourists not only with high security, but also with beautiful scenery.

3. Portugal. Its presence in the top three will come as a surprise to many, but the fact remains. The crime rate in Portugal is extremely low, the economy is stable, the standard of living of the population is high. Here, too, picturesque nature, namely: golden beaches, blue sea, majestic mountain ranges. The country is ideal both for recreation and for permanent residence.

4. Australia. Neighbor of New Zealand, country, mainland and continent in one "set". Considered one of the best places to live on earth. The land area of Australia is huge and the population is relatively small. The country has a high level of rights and freedoms. Australians are very tolerant. Crime is low, the political situation is stable.

5. Denmark. The Scandinavians have always been famous for their calmness, sedateness, peacefulness. The Danes are no exception. It is these features of the mentality that allowed their state to enter the top five in terms of security.

6. Czech Republic. A country from the former socialist camp, which managed to quickly and successfully survive all the cataclysms associated with the transition period. The Czech economy today is quite strong, and a favorable investment climate promises its further development. The country cares a lot about people, realizing that human potential is the most valuable thing the state has.

7. Slovenia. A neighbor of the Czech Republic, part of the former Yugoslavia, which also tried to build communism. There are practically no internal conflicts here. Local residents are distinguished by high culture, respect for each other and for guests. It also attracts breathtaking landscapes.

8. Canada. A huge country in North America, which has become a second home for immigrants from many less stable corners of the planet. The standard of living here is one of the highest in the world. The city streets are safe, clean, comfortable. Citizens of Canada are socially protected.

9. Switzerland. One of the richest and most stable countries in Europe. Here they know how to count money, protect wealth and increase it. Switzerland has traditionally kept aloof from any external conflicts. Domestic politics has also been stable for many decades in a row.

10. Ireland. Despite a certain tension in relations with the UK, this country still occupies the top positions in the ranking of the most peaceful countries on the planet. The Irish are very peaceful and cultured. They have a rich literary background. They know their history, honor it and are happy to introduce it to their guests.

11. Japan. It ranks third in the world in terms of economic development. After the Second World War, the Japanese stopped getting involved in any conflicts and began to rebuild their homeland. The result is impressive. The crime rate in Japan is low, any conflicts are extremely rare.

12. Austria. A state in the center of Europe, to which the current well-being was given at a high price. After the world wars, Austria drew certain conclusions, and for more than 70 years it has been building exceptionally friendly relations with other countries, developing its economy. Local residents feel protected and confident in the future.

13. Bhutan. Country in South Asia. Does not take part in any external conflicts. Domestic politics is also stable. Over the past seven years, not a single unrest has been recorded here. There is a whole army of police officers in Bhutan who protect the peace of local residents and guests.

14. Norway. Another Scandinavian country in the top 15 in terms of security. Its reputation has been somewhat shaken since the massacre by Anders Breivik, which is why today Norway only ranks 14th. However, in general, it is a very calm, peaceful and stable state.

15. Hungary. A neighbor and former "partner" of Austria in the empire closes the top 15. By leaving the path to communism and starting to build capitalism, the Hungarians have achieved a lot. They still have a lot ahead, but today the successes are obvious. Hungary is calm and comfortable. In Europe (and in the world) it is one of the most stable developing countries.

These were listed as the safest countries in the world to live in. Unfortunately, the states of the post-Soviet space are still, for the most part, trailing at the very end of the list, and they can’t even dream of leadership. Russia is also not included in the TOP yet.

There are more than 150 states on the territory of our planet. Each of them has its own culture, ethnic composition, customs, laws and mentality. Thanks to similar features, all countries of the globe are not similar to each other. At the same time, not every one of them is distinguished by economic stability and security. Every year, many reputable print media and online resources compile lists that include the safest countries on the planet.

When compiling the rating of safe countries, a huge number of criteria are taken into account, ranging from the pace of economic development to the standard of living of people. At the same time, absolutely all the details that characterize a particular state to one degree or another are taken into account. The most important of them are:

Today, almost every state makes its own ratings. In most cases, they do not reflect the real picture and are created to strengthen their own positions in the eyes of the world community. At the same time, the international rating, which is compiled by the joint efforts of all states of the planet, includes 162 positions.

The most dangerous countries for tourists

Unfortunately, most of the countries of the former socialist bloc are at the bottom of the list, and the top ten most dangerous states are as follows:

  1. Somalia;

According to the rating, the most dangerous place on the planet is Syria, which is now in a state of civil war. In general, the bottom lines of the list are occupied by the poorest countries in Africa and Asia. However, Russia also did not go far and occupies only 145th place, belonging to the class of states with dynamically developing variable risks.

Top 10 safe and comfortable countries for recreation and life

Slovenia - 10th

Despite the fact that the lists are updated annually, the top 10 safest countries in the world have remained unchanged. Although there were minor changes inside the dozen, no one left it. In 2020, Slovenia is still ranked tenth.

Thanks to its favorable geographical location in the very center of Europe and its membership in the EU, Slovenia has managed to achieve huge economic successes in a short time. What affected the standard of living of the population, the development of infrastructure and social guarantees.

Most of the country's citizens are involved in the industrial sector, which is not only dynamically developing, but also requires a systematic increase in staff. Stability, prosperity and the availability of jobs help to reduce the level of street crime. In addition, most of the population has a negative attitude towards violence and condemns it in every possible way.

Slovenia is a unitary republic with a stable political system and developed foreign economic relations. All these factors, combined with a low crime rate, make it one of the leaders in the top of the safest countries in the world.

Japan - 9th

Japan is one of the world leaders in economic development, second only to the United States and China. The country is distinguished by a high standard of living, and its inhabitants are purposeful and diligent. Most Japanese people prefer to work 12-14 hour days and don't take vacations.

Getting huge profits contributes to the development of all industries, from the quality of the road surface to the introduction of advanced technologies in the industrial sector. Japanese medicine is also considered one of the best in the world, which is confirmed by the low infant mortality rate and the large number of centenarians.

The low level of crime is due to the peculiarities of the mentality and the attitude of people to manifestations of cruelty. The number of violent deaths in the country is one of the lowest in the world, at 4.4 for every million inhabitants.

The ninth place in the world ranking is due to the geographical location, since almost the entire territory of the state is located within the Great Ring of Fire. The threat of a tsunami, seismic activity and a small area played a role. Japan did not become a leader in terms of safety for life, which it could well count on.

Canada - 8th

Canada is in second place in terms of area, second only to the Russian Federation. The high level of economic development is due to the presence of a huge amount of minerals and other natural resources that are exported. The funds received from trade operations contribute to the modernization of industry and the improvement of the living standards of citizens.

The introduction of the latest technologies and the high level of staff qualifications have glorified Canadian medicine throughout the world. Well-developed infrastructure and high-quality roads also play a role.

Canada's only geographical neighbor is the United States, which significantly reduces the flow of illegal immigrants trying to enter the country. Despite the large area, the population density of the country is quite small. At the same time, more than 75% of the inhabitants live along the border with the United States, where most of the cities are located. At the same time, the northern regions of the state are occupied by taiga forests.

Canadians are ardent opponents of any form of violence and categorically do not accept crime. Street theft and robbery are rare, and cases of violent death are practically not recorded. Therefore, living in such a country is not easy safe, but also quite comfortable.

Switzerland - 7th

Switzerland is a multinational state in which at least 3-4 peoples live in peace and harmony. Despite the difference in views and culture, they get along with each other and almost never conflict. Such a national composition not only contributed to the attraction of foreign capital, but also contributed to the development of tolerance between people of different nations.

The Swiss economy is based on tourism, for which all the necessary conditions have been created. Most of the country's population is employed in the service sector, focused on foreign guests. Every year the infrastructure is modernized, and the living conditions of people are improving.

Focusing on tourists contributes to the improvement of all areas of economic activity and medicine, which is one of the best in the world. Despite the different ethnic composition, the level of terrorist threats is practically absent, as well as crime in general.

A large flow of foreign tourists, the opportunity to open your own business and independently plan your activities make Switzerland one of the most hospitable and safe countries in Europe.

The low level of crime is explained by the lack of division of society along class lines, since most of the population is on the same financial level. In addition, the high cultural level of the inhabitants, social security and rejection of violence make the state one of the safest places to live in the world.

Today, only a few monuments remind of the Soviet past in the Czech Republic. All other spheres of life have long since been reoriented to market relations. Part of the income received from the export of products of our own production is spent on improving the living standards of people, which ensure the progress of the economy.

Portugal - 5th

Portugal has always been considered one of the safest countries in the world, since 2016 it has entered the top ten. The main source of income for the state is the agro-industrial sector, which ensures the systematic growth of the economy. The main trading partners are the countries of the European Union, to which about 95% of all manufactured products are exported.

Despite the development of the agricultural sector, the standard of living of the population is very high. Most of the profits are spent on upgrading existing infrastructure and improving social standards. Medicine is distinguished by its professionalism.

A good geographical location in the very south of Europe and endless beaches make Portugal a tasty morsel for tourists from all over the world. The high level of economic development and the absence of class inequality contribute to the reduction of crime. Despite the southern temperament, the inhabitants of the state categorically do not accept and condemn manifestations of violence. This makes it possible not only to live in safety, but also to move freely around the country at any time of the day. Needed for a trip.

New Zealand - 4th

New Zealand is a unique state not only in terms of its structure, but also in isolation from the rest of the world. It is located in the Pacific Ocean and occupies two islands of the same name. Its peculiarity is the lack of territorial neighborhood with other countries, since the nearest state is located at a distance of 1 thousand km.

Due to its geographical isolation, New Zealand practically does not participate in any military conflicts, which also significantly reduces the threat of terrorist attacks. The main areas of economic activity of the state are the agricultural and industrial sectors, in which most of the population is employed.

The islands are famous for their huge deposits of minerals, among which the first leading position is occupied by gold and silver. Incomes from their production form the basis of the economy and allow it to develop dynamically.

The attitude of New Zealand residents to crime and corruption is sharply negative, and favorable conditions for business development only contribute to attracting foreign investment. Living on its territory is safe and comfortable. New Zealand could well become the safest state in the world if it were not located in a zone of seismic activity. Over the past 10 years, at least 5 major earthquakes have been recorded on the islands. To travel to New Zealand you need

Ecology of life: Every day we see a huge amount of gloomy and terrible news about situations in different states around the world. Now you need to plan your trip especially carefully - the chance to get a whole heap of problems instead of a well-deserved rest is too great. It is for this reason that the independent organization Institute for Economics and Peace has introduced its annual chart of the most and least secure countries around the world. This year, the first ten places were taken by these countries.

It is for this reason that the independent organization Institute for Economics and Peace has introduced its annual chart of the most and least secure countries around the world. This year, the first ten places were taken by these countries.

Slovenia

In last place was Slovenia. Minor internal conflicts are forcing the state to use more police, which makes tourists feel more secure.

Japan

It's hard to believe, but the former Asian Tiger is now considered one of the most peaceful and safe countries in the world. The low homicide rate, the ban on guns for citizens, and the innate calmness of the Japanese make the state a real gift to the expat.

Canada

In Canada, apparently, it is too cold for any kind of illegal activities. This large, strong and reliable state is perfect for those who would like to live in peace and cut trees for their own pleasure.

Switzerland

The position of indifferent neutrality in foreign policy has allowed Switzerland to become one of the most peaceful countries on the planet. Here you simply do not need to commit crimes in order to live well - just work is enough.

Czech Republic

The Czech Republic is slowly but surely becoming more attractive for life. The abundance of tourists implies the operational work of the police and special services: relatively few crimes are committed here and the percentage of disclosure is very high.

Portugal

Earlier this year, Lisbon was named the most underrated city in Europe by Condé Nast Traveler. Few tourists actually make it here, and for good reason: the beauty of Portugal, combined with the safety of the quiet streets of Lisbon, makes this place a great choice.

New Zealand

This country is increasingly chosen by those who have decided to try to radically change their lives. Low crime, chic beaches and no drug problems - what else is needed for complete happiness?

Austria

Robert Frost wrote that "good fences make good neighbors" and this statement works quite well at the state level. The borders with the Czech Republic (the center of European prostitution and drug trafficking) and Germany (migrants) did not affect the situation in Austria itself.

Denmark

Denmark is regularly ranked among the happiest countries in the world, and now it is recognized as one of the safest. The most serious conflict in many years was a territorial dispute with Canada over the right to possess a desert island. Problems with crime? Virtually none.
