Garden sculptures and crafts from polyurethane foam. Do-it-yourself garden figures from polyurethane foam (35 photos): tools and materials

There are many craftsmen in Russia - what modern Kulibins just don’t come up with! The owners of a private courtyard, a country cottage, have a natural desire to beautifully equip the surrounding space. Of course, you can buy any sculptures in a store or on the market, but handmade jewelry not only caresses the eye, but gives great scope for creativity and imagination.

It takes quite a bit of patience, spatial imagination and original foam crafts will take their rightful place in the landscape design of your garden plot.

Properties of the material used

For your information: ready-made figures are not afraid of snow, rain, or wind, but it is better to hide them from direct sunlight.

Mounting foam has found wide application in many areas. Recently, it has become very fashionable to make beautiful sculptures and figurines out of it.

In their decorative effect, they are much superior, for example, tires, plastic containers, garden decorations from which, clearly emphasize the use of this secondary raw material. Foam crafts look presentable.

We note some properties of this material:

  • Processing is not particularly difficult, even a child can easily cope with this process;
  • An extra fragment is removed with ease in the same way as a missing detail is added;
  • In the process of working on the figure, the spent foam material can pollute the surrounding space, so it is necessary to organize work in an open area;
  • Only sculpt the sculpture when this polyurethane foam sealant is completely dry.

Attention: if you do not have sculptural experience, then it will be problematic to immediately create a complex craft. Start simple: a gingerbread man on a stump, a ladybug on a leaf. This will be a great training start. Examples of easy-to-make works in the photo below:

Work rules

When starting creative activity, be sure to carefully read the rules that any master needs to know:

  • Cover the workplace with old wallpaper, newspapers, cellophane;
  • Read the instructions from the manufacturer on the cylinder;
  • It is necessary to work on the street only when the air temperature is above zero;
  • This aerosolized household cleaning product is toxic: wear rubber gloves;
  • Often a frame is used to make crafts. And since foam is a very light material, so that later the sculptures do not drive around the garden with the wind, weight them with sand, crushed stone, gravel;
  • Immediately prepare a solvent, acetone or a means to wash off this sticky material - it may very well be needed;
  • We use paint for coloring only the one that is intended for outdoor work;
  • The finished product must be covered with a colorless varnish, this is necessary not only to improve the appearance, but also for resistance to adverse weather conditions.

For your information: the time of its hardening depends on what brand this polyurethane foam sealant is. On average, a thin layer hardens within half an hour.

What materials will be needed

Depending on what you decide to sculpt, the selection of the necessary improvised materials depends.

Your attention is invited to an unchanged set of items that will be required when you make products from polyurethane foam with your own hands:

  • It is much more convenient to use pistol foam;
  • Stationery knife with additional blades (they often have to be changed during work - they quickly become dull);
  • Latex gloves to protect hands (fabric quickly become unusable);
  • To “sand” the surface of the products in the process of work, you need a large sandpaper, and to grind and bring the work to perfection, use a small one;
  • PF paints and brushes for outdoor work (aerosol paint is worse for applying, if you decide to use it, you will have to do two or three layers);
  • Color for paint (to achieve the desired shade);
  • A set of artistic brushes of different sizes;
  • Furniture colorless protective varnish (especially if you use acrylic paint);
  • Rags, for cleaning the muzzle of a gun;
  • To make the frame of the conceived craft, you will need various plastic or plastic containers that no one needs, boards, fittings, wire, pieces of old linoleum and other waste material;
  • Weighting agents (foam is light in weight, crafts must be weighted with some improvised material). As a weighting agent, small stones, gravel, crushed stone, sand are usually used;
  • Putty: it is very convenient to correct some details in the process of finalization.

The idea: on the eve of the New Year, disposable plastic masks of various animals and fairy-tale characters are sold everywhere. Their price is pennies. And you can use it with success, both as a mold for decorating the face or muzzle of your hero, or simply by attaching it to the right place.

A single algorithm of actions when creating any craft

It is better to engage in this type of creativity outdoors during the warm season. If you have to work indoors, make sure that the same room is well ventilated. Cover the working area with polyethylene, polyurethane foam does not stick to it.

After reading the instructions on the cylinder, we proceed step by step to work:

  • Shake the bottle vigorously several times. At the same time, you need to keep it upside down;
  • Initially, the foam “sets” within an hour, and finally dries, depending on the thickness of the applied layer, within 10 hours;
  • Do not apply a lot of foam in one go, it has the property of falling off under its own weight;
  • Position the product frame horizontally. Initially, a layer is applied, no more than 5 cm;
  • An hour later, after drying, the craft must be turned over, moisten its surface and repeat the same steps;
  • After drying, fill unnecessary voids with foam, and remove excess fragments with a clerical knife;
  • Finish to a smooth surface with sandpaper. It is better to fix it on a wooden block;
  • Start decorating after complete solidification;
  • We have already talked about paints above. As for the additional decor, buttons, balls, colored glass, wire of various textures and sections, and other improvised, natural or waste material do a good job of this role;

For your information: if you want the fruits of your creativity to please the household for a longer time, use putty for additional alignment: it is absolutely not afraid of ultraviolet.

And, of course, strict observance of safety precautions during the work is in the first place (pictured below).

Jack of all trades

When all the necessary material is prepared, we get to work. No need to hold in your imagination the artistic image of what you decide to breathe life into. Before your eyes there should be a picture or photograph, you should see clearly what you want to get in the end.

The frame can be made not only, as mentioned above, from plastic containers. The product will be more durable if it is welded from thin reinforcement or twisted from thick wire. According to the sculptors, the manufacturing process is simple.

But if you are engaged in this work for the first time, you need to start from simple to complex:

  • Try first to make planar images: apply a solid spot on cellophane, and after drying, you can cut out the desired figure;
  • Then try to make voluminous small unpretentious figures;
  • The next step: make larger figures based on a circle, an oval;
  • Next, you can try your hand and talent in making medium-sized frame crafts;
  • After all the stages passed, consider that you are already a master, proceed to perform more complex work, you have already acquired the necessary skills.

Well, now, to business.

Craft number 1

We offer you a few step-by-step instructions for making crafts. Let's go, again, from simple to complex.

Consider step by step how to make a Christmas tree from polyurethane foam with your own hands:

From an ordinary cardboard box, we cut out three isosceles triangles (you can cut out four and five, if desired). Their size doesn't matter. If the base is wide, then the Christmas tree will be wide, and if the base is high, then the Christmas tree will be taller.

How to glue it doesn't matter - just to keep

All these triangles are first from the inside, folded, as in the photo and glued together with adhesive tape.

We assemble the triangular pyramid layout and align it. From above, we also fix it in several places with tape.

A rectangle is cut out of the same cardboard, which will serve as a base and at the same time a stand.

We install a triangular pyramid on the base so that, firstly, the finished product has a bottom, and secondly, when blowing polyurethane foam sealant, our base would protect the surrounding surface from unwanted contaminants.

We begin to blow out the pyramid, going a little beyond the framework of one triangle, immediately hiding the joints. If something remains not under the foam - it's not scary, it's easy to fix later.

The pressure of the foam should not be large. Foam all sides in 2-3 minutes. The tree is almost ready.

Let the foam dry. We look for empty holes where - if there are, carefully fill them and leave until completely solidified.

We decorate our Christmas tree with rain or homemade toys. Looks very nice.

Craft number 2: snowman

Tip: if you need to foam a very small space, and the standard tube does not fit there, try gently heating this same tube with a match and pull it out. Just do it carefully, it breaks easily.

Let's continue with the winter theme. Now let's take a step-by-step look at how to make a snowman out of polyurethane foam.

Put an ordinary balloon on the tube of a foam gun, and tie it tightly with twine.

We need two balloons. We pump in both, alternately, polyurethane foam sealant, let it harden and cut off the balloons we no longer need from the frozen foam with a knife. The top ball should be one and a half times smaller than the bottom one. We leave the scraps, they will still be useful to us.

The lower ball is on top, and the upper one on the bottom must be slightly trimmed, so the workpieces will better overlap and hold stably. These clippings will also go into action. Sand both parts with sandpaper or a fine kitchen grater, remove all the bumps that remained after cutting with a knife.

Cut off the trimmings from the upper and lower balls (these will be the legs) a little on the bevel so that the lower ball can be installed in these recesses.

We make the legs in a mirror image. We install the lower ball in the recesses made.

He becomes more stable.

Again, from scraps, we cut out the hands so that they are adjacent to the body (pictured).

We take a glue gun and with hot glue we securely fix all the parts and coat the joints between them.

Next, we make a carrot nose from the same foam. Carefully glue it to the right place.

We paint the blank in two layers with acrylic paint. It is hard to paint on a porous surface. You need to fill in every pore, and to get into it, you need soft thick brushes. After the first painting, allow the workpiece to dry completely, then slightly sand the surface and apply a second layer.

We paint the nose with nail polish, blue buttons are well suited for the peephole. In one hand we give our snowman a bucket (a cap from an unnecessary bottle of medicine), in the other hand we give a broom (a small, worn-out watercolor brush). We tie a scarf from any fabric that is available at home, dress up our miracle in a hat. The final touch: draw a joyful smile with a marker.

Craft number 3: decorative tree

Designers of apartment interiors have recently picked up the idea of decorating walls with trees. This decoration can be found not only in children's institutions, but also in offices and even in apartments.

The tree is a symbol of prosperity. We suggest you familiarize yourself with the step-by-step instructions for making this decor.

We take old wallpapers, and on their reverse side we draw a full-length silhouette of a tree. If you want to make a spreading tree, glue two or even three strips of wallpaper. This drawing should be placed on a flat surface under a canopy or in a room that is well ventilated.

We begin to paint the first layer with foam, gradually filling the entire silhouette. If you have provided a hollow on the tree, select it separately.

Gradually increase volume. If necessary, after drying, make a second, or even a third layer. The tree is supposed to be in volume? Then stick, where you need branches, the length and thickness of which corresponds to your intentions.

Let the workpiece dry completely. Then we dilute the paint with color and begin to paint the bark of our tree. If necessary, remove the excess or add the necessary details.

We are waiting for complete drying.

Carefully, with a clerical knife, we cut our tree along the contour. We turn it over to the reverse side, carefully apply glue to the entire area with a brush.

Using glue with strong fixation, glue the workpiece to the wall.

We finalize the details: we grind, sand, supplement or remove fragments. Finally paint and cover with a colorless varnish

We decorate at our discretion. The version in the photo has been modified according to the author's intention: some details have been added, once again the work is carefully covered with white acrylic paint and colorless varnish. The handicraft located in the hall is an interesting decoration of the interior of the children's institution.

Wood in the interior is fashionable

Another option: a tree refined to perfection is a stylish and trendy decoration for any home or cottage.

Craft number 4: three little pigs

Now let's talk about fairy tales. When creating the next masterpiece, it will be possible to slightly adjust the product in the process.

In order not to get dirty, it is better not to touch the raw foam, and when it is covered with a thin film, it is necessary to cover the product again layer by layer. So you can achieve the desired contour.

We make a blank from a five-liter plastic bottle, a bucket of mayonnaise. Instead of legs - four sticks. If necessary, add a weighting agent to the containers. Everything is attached with tape. The workpiece must become stable.

We apply foam in the upper part, let it dry.

Turn over, cover the entire workpiece with foam.

We cut out the ears from the cardboard and fasten them to the head while the foam is still damp, then we “foam” them. Don't touch it until it's completely dry.

After drying, we begin to work with a clerical knife. We cut out the desired image: we delete the extra parts. If you removed the unnecessary, we foam again, let it dry and achieve the desired result.

We process with sandpaper, you can prime and prepare for painting

Thus, we prepare three figures and decorate either a garden or a vegetable garden.

Conclusion

Making figures from polyurethane foam is a fascinating business. As it became clear to you, absolutely any figure can be made from this building material. Think over the frame, design, image of your hero - and for the cause.

We recommend that you watch the video in this article, which will help you visualize once again some points of the performance technique. Do not hold back the flight of your imagination, create for the joy of yourself, friends and loved ones.

Ready-made fiberglass crafts cost from 4 to 25 thousand rubles. Interior sculptures and statues painted in silver are on average 30% more expensive. With a limited budget, it is better to use an inexpensive, but more original option, namely, to make garden figures from polyurethane foam with your own hands.

Note to novice designers

From this material, interesting fairy-tale characters, flowerpots and planters of various sizes are obtained. Hedgehogs, baby elephants, hares and pandas look like real ones. And voluminous vases decorated with colored glass impress with their uncomplicated design. When in contact with water, the material expands. As a result of polymerization, that is, solidification, a solid base is created for wool, ears and plausible animal spines.

The main advantages of polyurethane foam amateur designers include:

  1. Good adhesion of the sealant to other building materials: wood, glass, plastic and natural stone. Due to this, large-scale figures are obtained that are as resistant to bad weather as possible.
  2. Waterproof, which significantly increases the shelf life of outdoor crafts.
  3. Fire protection foam does not ignite even at 1300 °C. The materials adjacent to it also do not burn, so if there are grill houses or gazebos with barbecue facilities in the country house, such decorations are the best way to avoid accidents.
  4. Parts of crafts connected with polyurethane do not need additional fixation with nails or self-tapping screws. Simple installation is possible without special equipment and the help of professionals.
Similar figures can be made by yourself

There are few disadvantages of mounting foam, but they must also be taken into account. Under the influence of direct sunlight, the material does not just darken, but is destroyed day by day.

Increased air humidity in 58% of cases is the cause of premature deformation of garden figures. Polyurethane foam contains chlorine, so it is advisable to work with goggles and gloves.

Ordinary foam does not tolerate low temperatures well. So that the crafts do not crumble after the first cold weather, it is better to use a "winter" sealant. It retains its original strength and toughness even at 30 °C below zero.

Video "Do-it-yourself lamb from polyurethane foam"

From this video you will learn how to make a beautiful lamb out of polyurethane foam.

Making sculptures on your own

At the first stage, it is important to prepare the necessary materials and tools. Since mounting foam goes well with any products, it is really possible to make the frame of a future tiger or rhinoceros from plastic bottles. To do this, you will need several dozen containers of 1.5 liters, sand, boards and thick wire.

Clinker brick or rubble can become a reliable material for the base. In addition to sealant, amateur designers will need metal rods and a mounting gun. If you need to make an unusual planter in the form of a shoe or a steamer out of foam, tin cans and buckets will come in handy. And so that ready-made crafts do not deteriorate under the influence of ultraviolet radiation, they will have to be treated with quick-drying paint.

Making figures from polyurethane foam is a painstaking, but interesting process. First, the craftsmen cover the base with sealant and wait 5-6 hours for it to harden. At the next stage, several more layers of foam are applied and this procedure is repeated until the desired shape and volume of the product is achieved. Next, untidy protrusions are removed with a construction knife and the figure is painted. Drying time depends not so much on its size, but on the number of layers applied.

Lamb

Such crafts can be placed on the terrace, in the garden and even in a city apartment. Artificial leather scraps, plastic bottles, buckets, foam, wire and adhesive tape are useful in the work. First, a frame is created. For a small sheep, 5 bottles with a capacity of 1 liter are enough. If you have planned a large animal with lush curls, at least 20 vessels with a capacity of 1.5–2 liters. The next step is important:

  • wrap the frame with tape or electrical tape;
  • construct a tail from flux-cored or copper wire;
  • cover the workpiece with a 3-centimeter layer of foam and repeat the same after 5–6 hours;
  • give the muzzle the desired shape with a spatula or a clerical knife;
  • paint the finished craft, and if desired, stick eyelashes and attach a satin bow.

Black buttons come in handy for the eyes. From long segments of isolon, you can make wide hanging ears.

Snail

In specialized stores, ready-made figurines of gastropods cost from 3 to 8 thousand rubles. If there is only enough money to pay for housing and communal services, the decor will have to be created by hand. To do this, you will need a couple of cans of polyurethane foam, 5-6 plastic bottles, a sand bucket and a clerical knife. Next, we follow the instructions:

  1. We give the foam layer the shape of a mollusk body and apply it to the base.
  2. We apply the second layer and fix the bottle, which will later become the neck of the snail.
  3. We cover the one and a half liter vessel with sealant and wait for it to dry completely.
  4. We prepare the lower part of the body, set the bucket and also cover it with foam.
  5. We apply the next layer of polyurethane foam so that a sink can be cut out of it.
  6. We draw a spiral with a felt-tip pen and remove unnecessary details with a knife.
  7. We cover the finished craft with a protective composition and decorate it with satin ribbons.

If a snail is needed for a children's gazebo, it is better to paint it in orange, green or white.

Frog

Among the Eastern peoples, this animal symbolizes immortality, wisdom and the lunar principle. The Chinese believe that tailless amphibians attract money luck, so it is better to install figurines of funny frogs at the entrance to the house. For DIY crafts, you will need an aluminum pan, a can of foam, wire, paint and old beads for decoration. First you need to fill the pan, that is, the body of the amphibian, with foam and wait for the sealant to completely harden.

The same will need to be done with an iron can - the head of a frog. Already finished parts should be fastened with wire and treated with several layers of foam. In place of the paws, it is desirable to install wooden, and preferably metal, twigs and cover them with polyurethane foam. Now it is important to give all parts of the body the desired shape and make the lower legs from improvised materials. It can be the remains of logs or, for example, a substrate for a laminate.

To increase the resistance of the craft to precipitation, at the very end it is better to treat it with an acrylate compound. Compared to conventional varnishes, it instantly adheres to mounting foam and increases the shelf life of products by an average of 5 years.

Lizard

From the materials you will need two cans of foam, a kefir bottle, a plastic glass, cocktail tubes, 1 m of garden hose, a coil of wire and glass eyes. The latter can be borrowed from old dolls that have been gathering dust in the attic for years and are no longer of interest to adult children.

In general terms, the craft algorithm looks like this:

  1. We cover a liter bottle and a glass with foam.
  2. We make a hole in the cork and glass, connecting them with a tube or thick wire.
  3. From above, we fix all the details with foam so that they resemble the head and body of a lizard.
  4. We make paws out of a hose or plastic, stretching a wire into them for a more or less plausible bend. We insert them into the body and fix them with another layer of sealant.
  5. In the same way, we build up the abdomen and a high ridge on the front half of the animal's ridge.
  6. We make a tail from the remnants of the hose. Inside you need to enter the wire to get a beautiful bend.
  7. We cut cocktail tubes for claws, insert pieces of wire into them and cover with foam.
  8. We insert the eyes and hide the cracks on the body of the iguana with the same sealant.
  9. We putty the finished lizard, and after about a day we cover it with acrylic paint.

The finished figure can decorate an artificial pond in the country or become an element of a children's gazebo.

Fox

A fox can be made from several plastic bottles and about one can of polyurethane foam. Of the materials, gloves, sand, a mounting gun and a hand cleaner are useful. So that the figure is not blown away by the wind, you need to pour small pebbles into the bottle and foam it 3-4 times with an interval of half an hour.

Then you need to make paws and a tail from a hose. The desired bends will provide the wire. In place of the neck, you can insert a sleeve from used toilet paper and also cover it with a 3-centimeter layer of sealant.

The head is best made from a seamless plastic ball, and the ears are made from thick cardboard. To simulate a mustache, you will need a fishing line that can be dyed white or gray. As for the eyes, the vertical pupils will come from small rubber balls. At the end of the work, it is important to treat the fox with a coloring composition and open it with varnish.

Universal scheme

If you follow the general rules and recommendations, in just a couple of days you can make any animal, bird or plant. The main thing is to prepare a reliable frame. From the materials you will need 5-liter bottles, the remains of logs, rubber, foam rubber, glass wool and even buttons. When getting creative, you need to remember:

  1. The larger the frame, the longer the figure of the animal will last in the open.
  2. All elements of the craft must be placed on the base gradually, with a 30-minute interval between each layer of foam.
  3. For better fixation of compact products, it is better to fill bottles or buckets with sand.
  4. Separate elements of the body are well obtained from welding wire. If the figures are planned to be installed in an open area under a canopy, you can use thick paper.

The optimal thickness of the applied layers is 3-4 cm. One hundred percent hardening is possible only after 10 hours.

In some crafts, a smooth flow of sealant is important, which only pistol foam can provide.

Mounting foam is a truly unique tool. You probably know that it is used to seal gaps between window frames and openings, as well as to clog all kinds of holes in walls, etc. Some craftsmen even use it as decoration, creating bizarre architectural forms, but these are far from all the possibilities of application. facilities. You will be surprised, but there are many examples of making figures from polyurethane foam with your own hands.

These are original sculptures made with amazing precision. Of course, this process is quite painstaking and requires a lot of diligence, but we will try to simplify it as much as possible and even make it more enjoyable.

Polyurethane foam properties

This tool is known for such a characteristic as expansion upon contact with air. First, the composition foams, multiplying in volume, and then it begins to harden.

Hardened polyurethane foam

In solid form, the foam has a porous structure. It is very sensitive to mechanical stress (you can easily cut it or even push it with your finger), but it has excellent resistance to:

  • temperature fluctuations;
  • high humidity;
  • atmospheric factors.

It is thanks to these useful properties that polyurethane foam is the best suited for creating garden sculptures. There are a few more features to note here:

  • excellent adhesion (this is a very useful property, especially when you work with the frame of a future figure);
  • durability (hardened foam does not “fall off” over time and does not lose its shape);
  • ease of handling (thanks to the aerosol spray and a special nozzle, the composition is squeezed out in small portions, which will help create even small details);
  • convenient cutting (if there is a surplus on the sculpture, they are removed with an ordinary clerical knife).

Materials for manufacturing

First, let's talk about what kind of foam is needed to create garden and interior sculptures. It is recommended to buy a mounting agent from well-known manufacturers, since it is non-toxic and has a balanced composition. Such foam sets quickly, but at the same time allows you to easily edit the sculpture as you need.

Make sure the foam has good adhesion (adhesion) to the materials we'll cover next. Most often this is checked in practice, but you can study the instructions on the can and note for yourself that the composition holds well on both rough and smooth surfaces.

The use of mounting foam in repairs

The foam must be fireproof (in the cured state). If there is no special injector nozzle in the kit, then purchase a squeezing gun (it is inexpensive and is available in any hardware or hardware store).

Take care to protect your hands in advance. Purchase cotton gloves (PVC coated). In addition, stock up on several meters of film that you will lay on the table or on the floor when you create figures for the garden.

From other tools and devices you will need:

  • sharp clerical knife;
  • means for removing foam from various surfaces (kerosene can be used, but be extremely careful when working with it);
  • sandpaper for grouting (try both fine and coarse grit);
  • putty;
  • brush and acrylic paints (your choice, depending on the type of figure, its size and other factors);
  • clean rags (will help clean up excess).

You will also need a lot of fixtures to create a frame for future sculptures. These can be nails, strong wire, tennis balls, wooden slats, plastic bottles, etc.

Basic Rules

Before working with mounting foam, carefully read the instructions on its packaging. If you work outside the apartment, please note that the foam can absorb dust and small debris, and therefore it is recommended to ensure that the workplace is clean and free of drafts.

Painting can be started only when the mounting foam is completely dry. Otherwise, its surface will be inhomogeneous, porous and ugly. If we are talking about a large figure, then its complete drying can take at least a week, be patient.

If you create figures for the New Year and plan to install them on the street, it is recommended to cover them with oil paint, as it will perfectly protect the products from cracking. Try not to touch the mold before the foam hardens. Firstly, this way you will only get your hands dirty, and secondly, you can ruin the form and leave prints and dents on it.

Putty is used to protect sculptures from deformation. The applied layer makes the figure somewhat heavier, making it more stable.

Manufacturing examples with instructions

Creating volumetric figures using this technology is similar to papier-mâché: you make a frame, and then glue it on top of mounting foam, layer by layer.

Try experimenting with small shapes first. Inflate a regular rubber ball and gradually apply a little of the product. Then - another layer (it will strengthen the walls). You see, you have a semblance of a ball, and this is a blank for a snowman or part of larger figures.

Christmas tree

To make a spectacular Christmas tree, you will need:

  • create an appropriate frame (you can use ordinary cardboard, roll it into a cone, glue and cut it from below);
  • shake the can well and apply a small amount of foam on all sides of the cardboard frame;
  • wait for the product to dry completely and start decorating (improvised glass balls can be made from the same foam, applied in small fragments and painted in different colors).

New Year crafts

Using the same principle as described above, you can create beautiful Christmas balls and various themed decor. There are a lot of options for crafts here:

  1. Santa Claus. By joining some cardboard blanks and plastic bottles with tape, you can create a silhouette of a grandfather, and then foam it, dry it and cover it with red and white paint.
  2. Snowman. To do this, you will need 2-3 round blanks (which are made from ordinary balls). They are connected to each other with silicone glue. If you are unhappy with the shape of the blanks, then you can always trim them with a knife and sand them with sandpaper, making the surface smooth and even.

Lamb

To make the frame, you will need canned food cans, as well as planks. Make a lamb body from a plastic bottle and a head from a can. Wooden slats can be used for the neck and legs. All elements are easily fastened to each other with nails, screws or even double-sided tape.

Do not worry about the fact that the frame may turn out to be uneven and lopsided. This is easy to fix later when you apply the foam and adjust the sculpture. Sheep is very easy to make. You can paint it with white acrylic, and the eyes and muzzle with black. The very shape of the hardened foam is very reminiscent of natural sheepskin curls.

Snail

The main difficulty lies in the manufacture of the "house" of the snail. To do this, you need to make a metal spiral. Foam should be applied in a circle, starting with a wide radius and gradually leading it to the center. If it doesn't work the first time, don't worry, try again.

Try not to work on a flat surface. By fixing the frame of the "house" vertically, you can make the figure more voluminous and natural. As for the manufacture of the “body” of the snail, an additional frame is made for it, after which the components are connected to each other.

Frog

In this case, you will need an appropriate frame and as much green paint as possible! With enough imagination, you can even make a princess frog, nestled comfortably on a leaf of a water lily. To do this, you need 3 blanks:

  • for the frog;
  • for the crown (it can be covered with spectacular gold paint);
  • for a pitcher.

The biggest difficulty lies in the manufacture of the frame, so that it turns out to be as reliable as possible and, at least from a distance, resembles the shape of a frog. In this case, you may not need to polish the figure to perfect smoothness, since the characteristic pimples will give the sculpture a special charm.

A fox

Here you can also show a lot of imagination! For example, make a fox from a fairy tale about Kolobok, rubbing its paws and licking its narrow black muzzle. To make it look more natural, you can take plastic eyes from an old Soviet toy.

Be sure to look at photos or drawings of real foxes. In this case, you will need the skill of the artist. It will be necessary to paint the figure of the animal, making characteristic white spots on the chest and the tip of the fluffy tail.

Lizard

Everything is pretty simple here:

  • squat, flattened frame;
  • characteristic curve of the long tail;
  • raised head.

As with the frog, you will need a lot of green paint. There is one curious trick. You can buy a mounting grid, put it on top of a dried base and go over it again with a brush using a lighter tone. So you can recreate the scales on the lizard's body.

This is the simplest model that is made from a ball. The problem is that a regular sphere may not be enough, and therefore you will have to apply 3-4 layers of foam (one on top of the other). After that, sand the kolobok well, and boldly paint it yellow, not forgetting to draw eyes and a mouth.

Stork

This figure is quite complicated, but if you get comfortable with all of the above, then you can handle this one. Here you need to create the body of the stork from polyurethane foam, and leave the legs from the wire painted with red paint (do not forget to make one bent, like a real stork).

The bird's neck should be as thin as possible, with a small head and a long red beak. Such a stork will be a real decoration of your garden.

Donkey

The donkey is simple, like the lamb. Their frame is not very different from each other. The only thing is that you will need to make him elongated ears and tail, and carefully sand the body, neck, legs and head with sandpaper so that the surface is smooth. After that, you can safely cover the donkey with gray paint, leaving the white tip of the muzzle.

Overview of original ideas

You can give your garden and interior figures a special charm. If you have an old mirror or a lot of unnecessary CDs, then crush them (of course, observing all precautions). So you can make a real discus thrower that reflects the beams of a spotlight.

Fragments of a mirror or disk are simply sunk into the foam before it hardens, and then thoroughly cleaned and leveled. By the same principle, you can decorate figures with old unnecessary ceramics, carefully splitting it into small fragments.

Universal scheme

As you can see, there are a huge number of ideas for realizing your creativity, and polyurethane foam helps to create beautiful sculptures. If you are not sure what you can do, then start with the simplest. Create any craft from an ordinary wire frame and apply a small amount of product to it, layer by layer.

Gradually, you will see how the silhouette of the figure begins to appear, and you can easily edit it with a clerical knife, giving it the desired shape. Try to be inspired by the characters of your favorite children's cartoons: Cheburashka, Gena the crocodile, lion and turtle, and many others.

To make figurines you will need:
Mounting foam
Foam gun.
Foam cleaner. (needed to flush the gun, and to clean hands)
Cotton gloves, more than one pair.
For the manufacture of this figurine, I used an ordinary empty kefir bottle.
1 Pour sand into the bottle (for gravity, so that the figure is not blown away by the wind). Foam the entire surface of the bottle. Attention! It is necessary to foam gradually, layer by layer, giving time to dry each layer. The foam dries in about 10-15 minutes.

2, 3 For the manufacture of paws, tail, I used a tube with a threaded wire. Stick the tail (the whole figure rests on it), paws (tubes), set the desired bend, foam the joints. Neck: Insert a toilet paper tube, lather. dry

4 Foam paws, tail.
5 To make the head, you can insert something round, foam it. Ears: Cut out of thick cardboard, soft plastic. Insert the ears into place, foam, dry. Mustache: Cut a thick fishing line, paint over with black paint from a balloon, insert. The eyes are rubber balls painted with the same paint.
paint the foam sculptures with oil paint, varnish on top (if the figurine is not painted with white paint, since the varnish gives yellowness).
