Over/under shotguns

The most common "verticals" include 2 samples:

1. IZH 12 - a gun of 12 and 16 gauges. The barrels are soldered together, which ensures the stability of the location of the points of impact and their combination in the process of firing from different barrels with cartridges that differ in power. The length of the barrels is 730 mm, the weight of the gun is approximately 3.3 kg.

2. IZH 27 - a shotgun of 12, 16 or 20 calibers for conventional cartridges with a 70 mm sleeve and "Magnum" with a 76 mm sleeve. Shotgun IZH 27 differs from IZH-12:

  • modified shape of the forearm and stock;
  • the presence of a ventilated bar;
  • simplified design of the locking mechanism device;
  • the introduction of an ejector mechanism.

The gun is designed for the use of plastic and paper sleeves. When firing with metal shells, accuracy is reduced by 3-5%. The hunting rifle IZH 27, the price of which is 17-20 thousand rubles, is the basic model in the segment of affordable weapons.

  • 20 gauge - from three kilograms.

As you might guess, the use of the gun was not too easy and convenient.

This gun includes two barrels that are connected in a vertical design. Serial production was carried out in 1960 - 1964. In most cases, IZH-59 Sputnik was used by fans of hunting and sports shooting.

IZH-26

This gun with two barrels belongs to the 12th gauge. Both barrels were located horizontally. The gun was actively used for amateur and commercial hunting. It is important to note that serial production was carried out in 1970 - 1975. Prior to the start of mass production, IZH-26 successfully proved itself in special tests, which proved a high level of reliability and functionality. As a result, the gun was produced in mass and piece performance. Users noted that the technical data corresponded to the best foreign models of the gun, due to which the demand for the model turned out to be very high.

The classic version is the IZH-27 shotgun. It gained popularity among those who tried to successfully engage in a hunting activity. Over 30 years of serial production, more than one and a half million copies were produced. It should be noted that the manufacturer has successfully worked out the design, guaranteeing a high level of reliability.

Advantages of IZH-27:

  • optimal balance;
  • stable manifestation of qualities in battle;
  • ease of execution;
  • high level of design reliability.

This 2-barrel model includes 12 gauge barrels. The release was started in 1954, completed in 1970. The basis was the IZH-49 model, which was carefully revised and improved. IZH-54 appeared thanks to L. I. Pugachev.

This 2-barrel weapon is made in a horizontal form. It is possible to use the following caliber options:

The model appeared thanks to L. I. Pugachev. From the very beginning, IZH-58 has proven itself very well, which made it possible to guarantee its production for more than 30 years. Today you can find some versions of the legendary model. It should be noted that many copies were produced with twelve and sixteen calibers, but at the same time, the model was originally conceived for 20 and 28. Serial guns with 28 calibers were not offered. In 1987, the model was largely replaced by the IZH-43.

IZH-81 is used in the following cases:

  • law enforcement;
  • self-defense;
  • hunting.

The release dates back to 1993. The thoughtful design of the gun has led to surprising demand.

This model was created on the basis of IZH-27M. In this case, the gun is distinguished by the presence of vertical trunks. The lower rifled barrel guarantees the possibility of using powerful cartridges. A stable and stable position is guaranteed thanks to a robust design, thanks to which the ability to successfully withstand dynamic loads during firing is guaranteed.

IZH-27 - the pride of domestic gunsmiths

The double-barreled shotgun IZH-27 produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, which was released into series in 1973, became a significantly modified previous version of the IZH-12 - and as a result became the best-selling gun for amateur and commercial hunting in the vastness of the USSR, and then Russia - in the entire history of the production of domestic hunting guns. Taking into account all the modifications (in 2008, IZH-27 also turned into MP-27), over 1.6 million copies of these double-barreled shotguns were sold.

The IZH-27 double-barreled shotgun produced by the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, which was released into series in 1973, became a significantly modified previous version of the IZH-12 - and as a result became the best-selling gun in the vastness of the USSR, and then Russia - in the entire history of the production of domestic hunting rifles. Taking into account all the modifications (in 2008, IZH-27 also turned into MP-27), over 1.6 million copies of these double-barreled shotguns were sold.

The design features of this Izhevka were the vertical arrangement of detachable barrels and the presence of interceptors (trigger interceptors in the event that they were not pressed with a finger, but, for example, accidentally dropped), which did not allow hitting the striker in such situations. Another distinguishing feature of the IM-27 was the strikers with a sufficiently large (up to 2.2 mm) output, which made it possible to free the gun from such an unpleasant event as a misfire in cases of a deep-set primer.

To date, the Izhevsk plant produces 4 serial modifications of this most popular gun.

How to choose IZH-27 (MR-27)

The first thing to check is the presence of a white coating under the connecting bar. If it is present, the bar will soon move away, and a gun with such a defect should not be taken in any case.

Next, you should make sure that the muzzles are perfect circles, and the metal is of the same thickness. And you should not be led by sellers who utter phrases from the series “they are all like that” - because NOT ALL guns are like that.

Not only the rings, but also the trunks themselves must be perfectly even, and the dimensions and axes between each of them must be observed. Usually, even a slight deviation from a straight line is visible to the eye.

The next factor is the condition of the chrome coating on the trunks. No spots or gaps - even small ones, since the chrome plating on serial products is already not of very good quality.

The bar should be just as perfectly even - without the slightest bulges and indentations, and the front sight should be exactly in its middle.

In addition, when shaking, there should not be any rattling and dangling parts, and the gun should be assembled and disassembled quite easily - and not literally just through the knee.

And, finally, it is advisable to choose a specimen with wooden parts fitted as closely as possible to the metal - the forearm and the butt. It goes without saying that they should not have cracks or chips.

Comparison of IZH-27(MR-27) with TOZ-34

"Izhevka" with "TOZovka" makes sense because the second gun can be safely called the "people's gun No. 2" in the vastness of our country. In addition, both double-barreled shotguns have been successfully sold for decades, and are in the same price category. The first difference (unfortunately, in favor of the TOZ-34) is the above-described problem of the IZH-27 with the worst soldering of the barrels, as a result of which the side bar on them leaves many times more often than on the TOZ.

At the same time, Izhevka's combat coil springs are much more reliable than TOZ's figured springs - and if the breakdown of the first is something unique, then for the second you can safely buy a second spare set right along with the gun. A similar situation is in favor of the IZH-27 and the drummer cocking levers.

But the locking of the trunks for both brands is approximately the same, and in terms of reliability it is quite satisfactory.

When evaluating the forearm, victory will again be on the side of the TOZ, since the forearm is not removable. Accordingly, in IZH-27, its frequent removal leads to breakdowns and cracks in the tree.

The next difference lies in the different weight of the two guns - "Izhevka" is much heavier than the Tulchanka. However, it is difficult to attribute this to both advantages and disadvantages, since everything depends on the use of the gun and the choice of the beast. A lighter double-barreled shotgun fits more comfortably to the shoulder and is good for long hunts, when after many hours of wearing a heavy gun seems literally unbearable. At the same time, IZH-27 allows you to use more powerful bullets and does not give a strong return - so in this regard, you can establish parity between guns.

Bottom line - TOZ-34 as a whole wins in terms of quality and durability of parts, but IZH-27 has a more reliable and stable mechanism.

Considering the sad statement of a large number of marriages in domestic guns, the choice of the ideal option for an inexpensive and reliable gun in all respects should still be attributed to the future.

Storage and care

The place of storage of the gun must be absolutely dry - otherwise the slightest presence of moisture will lead to oxidation and rust of metal parts. At the same time, the barrels on the gun must be separated, and the fixation locks and triggers must be kept in a deflated state (to bring the lock into this state, a small dog is pressed inside the barrel landing nest on the IZH-27).

And, of course, lubrication of all components is mandatory - barrels, pads, hinge pins and forend. Especially considering the fact that even with a thorough check of chrome plating upon purchase, most often it begins to crumble after the first days of hunting. In the case of intensive shooting and the formation of a significant layer of soot on the inner surface of the barrels, they should be washed in warm water before lubrication and wiped dry with a rag, and the lead residues from the shot must first be cleaned with a soft copper brush. The easiest way to remember to carry out all the above procedures will be for motorized riflemen who served in the army - for which cleaning the machine gun is becoming an absolutely commonplace.

Another necessary condition for maintenance is the need to periodically tighten the coupling screw - in the event that the slightest shat appears. This is easy to do - just unscrew 2 screws and remove the cushion pad.

Also, you should not forcefully press on the triggers held by the interceptors when the gun falls. It is enough to fully open the trunks - and the strikers can be easily removed.

For the durability of the mechanisms of strikers, springs and pins, it is also not necessary to click the trigger in the absence of cartridges in the barrels. Of course, the triggers often need to be pulled. And it is necessary to do it correctly like this: either with spent cartridges inserted into the barrels, or by retracting the lever to the side with the triggers clamped - when disassembling the gun. Yes, and you should always open / close the gun smoothly, without sharp jerks - the strength of any weapon is not unlimited, and careful handling will protect your double-barreled shotgun from shat.

About bullets for IZH-27

The diameter of the round ones should be inferior to the diameter of the trunk by about 0.2-0.3 mm. For bullets with a belt, the difference should be greater - about 0.8-1.0 mm. At the same time, the belts themselves can exceed the diameter of the muzzle by the same amount. If you do not walk with a caliper or micrometer, you can easily evaluate this size match. If it stops at a distance of about 1.5 cm from the muzzle, the dimensions are suitable.

Also, you should not fire with old cartridges or those that are much higher than the rate specified by the manufacturer. This will not add speed to the bullet, but it can easily damage the barrel.

Piece models of IZH-27 guns

As already mentioned above, the overall quality of serial domestic guns (including Izhevka) leaves much to be desired.

However, for fans of this particular model, the manufacturer provides the opportunity to buy piece products created by the masters of workshop No. 28 called IZH-27 M-M TK "Rus".

There is also silver engraving, and 2 pairs of barrels, and, accordingly, a 725 mm pay-chok and a 620 mm cylinder-cylinder. Add to this amazing, almost flawless build quality, fabulous blued barrels, improved locking mechanism using carbide insert and balance, as well as a near-perfect fit forearm and stock and smooth safety action.

In a word - an almost perfect gun, with one single "flaw". At a price 2-2.5 times higher than the cost of the serial "IZHEVKA". Considering that for that kind of money you can buy a very good foreign woman (the quality of which is a completely different song), the choice in favor of the domestic version will be more likely due to habit, patriotism and piecework of the product.

He produced and continues to produce high-quality weapons, on which whole generations of hunters are brought up. The IZH-43 shotgun is a double-barreled horizontal shotgun, which has become the next stage in the activities of the plant for the production of mass smooth-bore weapons. The model was created on the basis of which, in turn, rolled off the assembly line as a cheaper version of the reliable, but expensive double-barreled shotgun IZH-54. Today we will discuss the history of the appearance of the IZH-43 gun, characteristics, reviews and much more.

Production

The work of the designers of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant on the development of the IZH-43 gun began in 1984. Literally two years later, the model has already entered mass production. The gunsmiths managed to make a cheaper, but technically more advanced model. The improvements concerned mainly the safety and ejector mechanisms. The issue with the fit of the pad to the receiver was also resolved.

The task of creating an inexpensive universal was completed one hundred percent. In 1995, the number of IZH-43 rifles produced reached 300 thousand copies. The release of guns in different versions, for every taste and pocket, is carried out today. Only now the model is called MP-43. The model is bought not only by domestic hunters, but also by foreign connoisseurs of good weapons.

Design features

The main trump card of the IZH-43 gun is its characteristics. Reviews of experienced hunters indicate that the model is an excellent combination of price and quality. Now about everything in order.

The IZH-43 shotgun is a double-barreled smooth-bore weapon, the barrel block of which has a horizontal arrangement. In the breech, the barrels are fastened with a coupling joint. And along the length of the trunks, their connection is provided by the lower and aiming bars. The gun is vnutrikurkovym. The triggers are made in the form of a monoblock with strikers and rebound.

In the process of improving the gun, the hammers began to be produced separately from the strikers. On some modifications of the gun, external devices are installed for cocking and smooth lowering of the springs. These devices are made in the form of false skins. In other versions with two triggers, the possibility of a smooth descent of the hammers from the platoon is possible thanks to the fuse. In addition, there are also models on which only one trigger is installed.

The safety mechanism has automatic activation when cocked. It blocks triggers and sears. Horizontals IZH-43 have twisted cylindrical mainsprings. The gun can be with or without selective ejectors. The barrels of this model have a permanent and interchangeable chokes. Trunks version "Magnum" with a chamber length of 76 mm can be cylindrical drilled. To lock the barrel block, you need to slide the locking bar over two underbarrel hooks.

Trigger mechanism Kalinin

The first copies of the model had the index "43" or "43E". A special trigger was installed on them, which was developed by design engineer A.N. Kalinin. The main advantage of these guns was that they had two triggers, each of which could be fired from two barrels. When you press the front trigger, the right barrel fired, and then the left. From the rear descent, the barrels fired in reverse order. If desired, it was possible to shoot in the usual way - by pressing the triggers in turn.

Soon the plant stopped producing a double-barreled gun with such a trigger mechanism. Under the marking IZH-43M and IZH-43EM, they began to produce guns with a standard action trigger. However, the plant retained the ability to equip its guns with the Kalinin USM. Such copies were made piece by piece, under the order. A little later, the guns received their former markings. And since the 90s, the plant began producing guns with one trigger and the ability to switch the order of shots.

Advantages and disadvantages

The advantages of a gun are mainly related to the combination of price and quality. Being relatively inexpensive, the IZH-43 double-barreled shotgun has a very good action, gives decent accuracy and sharpness when working with shot, shows good results in bullet shooting, and also has reliability and safe predictability in handling. The model has a good balance. USM design completely eliminates the possibility of an accidental shot. Without pressing the trigger, the shot is impossible.

As for the shortcomings, they, as befits an inexpensive mass production, manifest themselves in different ways, depending on the batch and model. Experienced hunters who want to buy an IZH-43 gun carefully choose the best among several models. Owners who are not too lazy to work with a file also win, because the main number of shortcomings can be eliminated on their own, at home. A few examples of such tuning are given below.

home tuning

Often IZH-43 double-barreled shotguns suffer from poor impregnation and processing of wooden parts. Self-impregnation and grinding (and in some cases even fitting) of these parts helps to resolve the issue. The next problem is ejector failure. This is where a file is needed.

Sometimes, when shooting, the safety guard of the descents, due to its unfortunate shape, injures the finger. To get rid of this problem, you need to either redo it, or cover it with a layer of protective material. The anti-corrosion coating in a mechanical plant often leaves much to be desired. Therefore, many users, in order to prevent the occurrence of rust on long hunts, additionally lubricate the gun with oil.

Versions

To date, the gun is produced under the name MP-43 in the following calibers:

  1. 12th (70 or 76 mm).
  2. 16th (70 mm).
  3. 20th (76 mm).
  4. 410th (76 mm).

The length of the chamber is indicated in brackets.

The version of the gun is produced with barrel drilling in two versions: a pressure cylinder and pay or a pressure cylinder and choke. The barrel of the IZH-43 model (12 gauge) has a length of 750 mm. For smaller caliber versions, the length ranges from 510 to 710 mm. Now consider separately all the additional modifications of the gun.

IZH-43E

This is the basic model, which has a switchable selective type ejector. When the ejector is turned on, when the barrels are opened, only the used cartridge case flies out, while the whole cartridge remains in place. This is very convenient in cases where you need to quickly reload weapons.

IZH-43-1S

The model differs in that it has only one trigger. At its top is a switch that allows you to easily change the sequence of shots from the barrels. The IZH-43E-1C version differs from the previous one in that, like the IZH-43E model, it is equipped with an ejector mechanism.

IZH-43K

This 12-gauge double-barreled shotgun is for those who like to carry their firearms loaded and quickly cock the springs without opening the gun. The highlight of the model is the presence of false skins. To the surprise of the employees of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant, the model aroused interest among American lovers of historical weapons. There is even information that models with false tubes were produced specifically for this market.

IZH-43KN

A complete external trigger model. Available in 12 gauge only. With the hammers cocked, the possibility of an accidental shot is reduced to zero. Even if you hit the trigger spoke, nothing will happen.

Versions of the IZH-43 gun can be called either as mentioned above, or marked "MR" instead of "IZH". In addition to the listed ordinary models, they also produce piece guns, which are distinguished by excellent combat and beautiful finishes using precious metals. These are the characteristics of the IZH-43 gun.

IZH-27 is a Soviet double-barreled hunting rifle designed for commercial and amateur hunting. IZH-27 was developed under the leadership of A. A. Klimov and has been mass-produced since 1973.

Starting with the development of two models - a single-barreled gun of the Kazansky (ZK) system and a double-barreled IZH-49, Izhmekh specialists created a full range of hunting weapons. Products at that time were marked with the designation "IZH" in combination with numbers that indicated the year of manufacture, for example, IZH-49, IZH-54, IZH-56, etc. Subsequently, in the 60s, the numbers in the marking of guns began to mean the project number, for example, IZH-18, IZH-25, IZH-27.

With the wider distribution of weapons in the foreign market, it became necessary to abandon the designation "IZH". This is due to the fact that the abbreviation "IZH" is inconvenient to transcribe. It was necessary to choose a designation containing the semantic content of product labeling, while the designation should have the same graphics and sound in Cyrillic and Latin.

In the 90s, when developing new weapon models, they decided to label products with the abbreviation MP in Latin, which means Mehanical Plant. Since that time, this marking has been assigned to all new weapons developments of Izhmekh. Until 2008, the previous models of weapons remained with the old designation "IZH". In order to establish a single model in the designations of weapons produced by the enterprise, the plant replaced the designation "IZH" with the marking MR, i.e., for example, on guns instead of IZH-18, IZH-27, IZH-43 there will be MP-18, MR -27, MP-43, etc. The digital designation on models produced before 1996 remained the same, and since September 2008, the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant switched to marking weapons with the designation "MR".

One of the most common types of weapons is the MP-27, a double-barreled hunting rifle with a vertical arrangement of trunks - the most popular gun of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant.

This model was preceded by the IZH-59 Sputnik and IZH-12 guns developed by Anatoly Andreevich Klimov.

IZH-12 is the first "vertical" that has become widespread in the Soviet Union and won the appreciation of hunters for its reliability and unpretentiousness. In the early 70s, a group of designers (N.V. Repin, A.A. Klimov, G.Ya. Protopopov) upgraded the IZH-12 gun. The following innovations were made to this model: they changed the shape of the stock and forearm; instead of the usual one, they made a ventilated aiming bar; the fuse was made automatic, adding for reliability interceptors (interceptors of triggers); installed an ejector; changed the shape of the box at the points of its connection with the box; a rubber recoil pad was installed on the butt.

The new model received the index IZH-27 (MR-27). The MP-27 over/under hunting rifle is available in various calibers and is a classic hunting weapon.

The series includes guns of the 12th, 16th and 20th calibers. The weight of the guns is from 3.1 to 3.65 kg, depending on the length of the barrel and caliber, the length of the barrels is 660-750 mm. Muzzle narrowing - permanent or replaceable. The barrels have a front sight and a ventilated aiming bar. The barrel channels and the chamber are chrome-plated, the outer surface is oxidized. The connection of the trunks with the block is carried out due to the underbarrel hooks and the hinge axis. Locking occurs with the help of a striker plate included in the groove of the rear grenade hook. When the barrels are opened, the hammers are cocked. The trigger mechanism allows the triggers to be smoothly released from the cocking when the barrels are closed. The automatic fuse has trigger interceptors and locks the sear. The sleeves are removed from the chamber by an extractor.

Modifications of the MP-27 gun

Over four decades of mass production of the MP-27, a whole family of models has grown on its basis: with an ejector and a single trigger mechanism (MP-27EM, MP-27M-1C, MP-27EM-1C), sporting guns (MP-39, MP-39E, MP-27EM-1S by Sporting), combined shotguns (MP-94 and MP-94 Sever), double-barreled rifled gun (IZH-94 by Express), MP-27M by Junior and etc.

The gun is produced in serial, including export, piece and souvenir versions in several different modifications:

MP-27M (previously called IZH-27M)- a gun without an ejector, with two triggers. MP-27M with an interchangeable block of barrels with oval screw drilling is a universal smoothbore gun.

Equipped with a 12/76 caliber barrel block and an interchangeable barrel block with oval helical drilling (Lancaster drilling), the gun is ideal for hunting big game. Due to the additional stabilization of the bullet by rotation, obtained due to oval-screw drilling, the gun provides a guaranteed bullet hit in the kill zone at distances up to 100 m with bullet cartridges (with bullets "Brenneke", "Gualandi"). At the same time, acceptable characteristics of scree are provided when shooting with shot. The design of the interchangeable barrel block provides the ability to adjust the position of the dispersion centers of both barrels. The interchangeable barrel unit is equipped with an open sight, adjustable horizontally and vertically. It is possible to install an optical sight.

MP-27M "Junior"- light and compact modification of the basic model.

The gun is aimed at women and teenagers, so the main dimensions of the buttstock have been changed relative to the basic ones, taking into account the physical data of this group of users. A lightweight bolt box, the dimensions of which are adapted to small calibers, barrels of reduced length, and the presence of a shock absorber nape make the gun very comfortable in operation and during sea hunting.

MP-27EM (previously called IZH-27EM)- a shotgun with a selective type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off.

Has two triggers. The modification of the MP-27EM shotgun is equipped with an ejector that ejects only the spent cartridge case. If necessary, the owner of the gun can turn off the ejector in the field without disassembling it and without using a special tool. The gun is indispensable for various types of hunting that require quick reloading. In the photo - with interchangeable barrels 720 and 660 mm.

MR-27M-1S (previously called IZH-27M-1S)- a gun without an ejector.

The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.

In the MP-27E-1C model, an original solution is implemented: switching the sequence of shots from a constant sequence of "lower barrel - upper" to the reverse one by pressing the trigger forward. This ensures ease and speed of switching, logical manipulation.

MP-27EM-1C (previously called IZH-27EM-1C) - a shotgun with a selector-type ejector - ejects only a spent cartridge case and, if necessary, can be turned off. The trigger mechanism with one trigger allows you to fire from both barrels in the desired sequence. The firing sequence is changed by pulling the trigger from behind.

Piece guns MP-27

Along with mass-produced products, factory craftsmen manufacture guns according to individual orders of consumers, create excellent examples of highly artistic weapons: unique piece guns with artistic engraving of the Classic, Prestige, Deluxe, Exclusive, Collectible classes.

The build quality and fit of the guns are very high. They are practically devoid of the shortcomings of serial models. Excellent bluing of barrels, improved balance, improved locking mechanism with a carbide insert. Smoother fuse running. The stock and forearm fit perfectly.

The assembly of each gun is carried out by one fitter, who carefully and accurately adjusts all the details, manually adjusts and laps, which ensures high reliability of the mechanisms.

Fitting the stock to the anthropometric parameters of any person (left, right stock, cheek protrusion, different stock lengths, etc.) is done manually. It is possible to arrange MP-27 guns with two pairs of barrels: - 1st pair - standard, length 720-750 mm, choke, pay. Muzzle narrowing 0.5; 1.0 mm. - 2nd pair - length 675 mm; cylinder barrels.

Separate shotguns MP-27 caliber 12x76 are equipped with an additional block of barrels with Lancaster drilling 20 caliber with a chamber length of 76 mm. On the guns, at the request of the customer, it is possible to perform any decoration or inscription using hand engraving, precious metals, artistic painting. Engraving compositions are performed in a wide variety of techniques - armored engraving, notching and notching of precious metals and their alloys, creating a unique range typical for the style of weapon engraving of the Izhevsk Mechanical Plant.

The engraving is complemented by decorative carvings on the stock and fore-end. To cover metal parts, in addition to traditional oxidation, silver plating, nickel plating, titanium nitride coating can be used. Custom-made guns meet the requirements of the most sophisticated connoisseurs of fine weapons.

What to look for when buying IZH-27 (MR-27)

  1. Pay attention to the soldering of the trunks. If a white coating is visible from under the connecting bar, then it is better to leave such a gun in the store. Very soon the connecting bar will depart from him.
  2. Pay attention to the muzzle of the trunks. They should be perfectly round and the same thickness. There should be no difference in size and exhortations of sellers: “they are all like that” should not be.
  3. Pay attention to the chrome in the barrels - it should cover the barrels completely, and there should be no spots on it.
  4. The plank should be perfectly flat, there should not be any recesses or bulges.
  5. The fly should be exactly in the middle of the bar. The trunks must be perfectly straight, the rings in the trunks are even and completely coaxial. It happens that even by eye it can be seen that the barrel is taken to the side. This is especially worth paying attention to.
  6. When shaking the gun, nothing should hang or rattle in it.
  7. The gun should normally be assembled and disassembled. There are new guns that need to be closed almost on the knee.
  8. Among the available options, pay attention to the wood of the forearm and butt. Choose a gun with as close fitting wood and metal parts as possible.

The choice between TOZ-34 and IZH-27 (MR-27)

The choice between these guns is quite difficult, since both guns are completely popular and there are a lot of them on sale. The price range is about the same. Produced at the factories of our country for a very long time and successfully.

The first difference is the stems. Traditionally, barrels in TOZ are considered better than in IZH-27. In Izhevka, the side bar often leaves, which indicates the initially worse soldering of the trunks.

The locking of the barrels on these two models is quite good and reliable, they have worked perfectly for many years. The helical mainsprings in IZH-27 (MR-27) practically do not break, but the curly springs in Tozovka are prone to failure, so it is advisable to have a spare set of springs at home. Also, the firing pin cocking levers often fail.

In the removable handguard IZH-27 (MR-27) there are breakages or cracks in the tree. The fixed handguard in the TOZ is devoid of these shortcomings.

In terms of manufacturability, we can unequivocally say that the quality of the barrels in the TOZ-34 is better, and the IZH-27 has a more reliable mechanism.

One of the main differences between guns is their different weight: the IZH-27 gun is heavier than its Tula counterpart. Therefore, TOZ is more applied, it is preferable for running hunts, where in the evening the gun begins to weigh a pood. The benefit of a heavy gun is the ability to fire powerful rounds and less recoil at the expense of weight. Shots from a heavy gun tire the shooter less. It's no secret that now many domestic guns are defective. When choosing Soviet-made guns, you should pay attention to the wear of the guns.

In TOZ systems, where for disassembly it was necessary to remove the lever and at the same time press the trigger, very often the mechanisms are already practically broken.

Conclusion: the guns are about the same in quality. You need to choose from hunting methods and applicability for you personally.

Storage and care of the gun IZH-27 (MR-27)

The gun must be stored in a dry place. When storing a gun, the hammers must be lowered, the barrels separated. The gun lock must also be released. To do this, click on the small dog inside the trunk landing nest. All parts must be lubricated: barrels, block, forearm and hinge pins. As planned, barrel chrome was supposed to make them easier to care for, but it often falls off after the first shots.

It is necessary to clean the barrels after each hunt in which at least one shot has been fired. This will save you from a rash in the trunks. With a large soot, the trunks can be washed in warm water, and then wiped dry with a rag. If there is a sheen of lead in the barrels, it is necessary to remove the lead with a soft copper brush. When a shat appears, it is necessary to tighten the clamping screw, which is located in the butt, from time to time. To do this, you must first remove the shock absorber by unscrewing the two screws. If, when falling, the strikers are detained on the interceptor, it is not necessary to press the triggers strongly, the removal of the strikers is carried out by fully opening and closing the trunks. You can not click idle, without the presence of cartridges in the barrels. This reduces the life of strikers, pins and springs. If it is necessary to release the triggers, already fired cartridges must be inserted. When disassembling the gun, trigger release can be achieved by retracting the lever to the side with the triggers clamped. Open and close the gun smoothly with both hands. This will protect the gun from shat.

The round bullet should be 0.2 or 0.3 millimeters smaller than the muzzle of the barrels.

The diameter of a bullet with a belt should be 0.8-1 mm smaller than the muzzle. The belts can be 0.5-1 mm larger than the muzzle. To check a bullet with belts, it is necessary to release it into vertically standing barrels. Under its own weight, it should stop at a distance of 1-2 centimeters from the muzzle. It is better not to shoot cartridges with higher weights of powder than recommended by the manufacturer. It is also better to avoid shooting with old cartridges, it is better to reload them.

Feedback from the owner IZH-27M (MR-27M)

  • The aiming bar on the gun is ventilated, in summer the phenomenon of a mirage from the heat is less pronounced.
  • The weight of the gun is generally greater than that of imported models, so the gun is less loosened, and because of this, recoil is more compensated.
  • The stock is quite thick, and thanks to this, when it falls on the weapon, it remains intact. Thin-bodied "foreigners" are more suitable for foreign "park" hunting.
  • The quality of the chrome plating is terrible, after every hunt, when it's wet, the gun is covered with rust even before you get home.
  • Fitting to each other of wooden and metal parts, to put it mildly, is weak. There are problems with the bed and the fact that it wipes off and begins to gain moisture. You can restore the stock yourself and make a water-repellent impregnation, after which the stock will look very good, and there will be no more problems.
  • The only thing with which there will be no problems is with the mechanics. Everything works like clockwork, with a minimum cleaning of the weapon after each hunt and a complete cleaning of smoothbore weapons after the end of the hunting season.
  • After firing charges with an increased amount of shot, a shat appears in a vertical plane. When you hold the gun by the butt, and sway the barrels. It is removed by banal tightening of the screw in the butt. But this is written in the passport that it is necessary to tighten the fixing screw from time to time. It is still necessary to use a standard sample of gunpowder and shot.

The weapon is good, but the manufacturers would be less likely to allow defects in the manufacture, which is growing and growing every year. If you have the opportunity to buy an IZH-27M with a release date before 1991, and it will be in excellent condition - buy it! Neither you nor your children, who will inherit it with proper care, will not regret it.

The quality of the guns produced by IZHmekh today is, to put it mildly, unsatisfactory. Sometimes you just want to come to the factory and buy a gun from them so that you can choose one gun out of hundreds.
