Do-it-yourself frame BANYA 6x8 (in one helmet)

I decided to begin the story of my story of the origin and development of country life.

Looking ahead a little, I’ll say that today there is a site, it is partially developed and a bathhouse is being built on it, it is the house that it (the bathhouse) will be in the nearest, for a certain number of years, until the main house is built.

And it all started with the fact that having lived all my (so far not very long) life in a big city, its adult conscious part, I dreamed of my house or at least a summer house where I could live or at least spend the weekend ... Forest, river, fresh air, etc.
In my family, such a thing as "dacha" never existed, because my grandparents lived in the Kostroma region, where they have their own house, garden and other delights of village life. And it just so happened that in my youth I spent all my holidays (autumn, winter, summer) in the village with my grandparents. By the way, probably from there a craving for nature and the earth was born in me.

Well, when I grew up and matured, created my cell of society, a village a thousand kilometers away became almost inaccessible due to the lack of free time necessary to overcome such distances.

So I quietly dreamed of a heavenly summer cottage within 1-1.5 hours from the apartment, dropping bitter, mean tears at night secretly from my beloved family.
Well, when a child appeared ... then the second ... this dream completely went to the last level of my life plans, even stopped crying at night ...

But the children grew up ... life became more measured and predictable ... and my dream of a summer house again knocked on my door from the depths of my subconscious. And I began to look at various Internet resources, trying to determine for myself the economic component of the dream of a country life.
And as a result, I determined for myself that I would have to spend from 400 thousand rubles on the site. to the "mullion", well, and to build a house on their own (by hand) the same amount. And having estimated my financial capabilities in the conditions of the onset of the crisis (last year), I decided to send back my dream. But at the same time, I did not stop periodically reviewing offers for the sale of plots.

    And on one clear warm sunny day, or maybe gloomy and cloudy, I remember one thing for sure - it was September 2016, I looked at an advertisement for the sale of a plot of 10 acres in the Tosnensky district in gardening 100 km from the city for a ridiculous (as it seemed to me) amount less than 100 thousand rubles. The site was offered with power wires connected to it, but the electricity itself was promised only by the beginning of 2017.
    “Some kind of divorce,” I thought, and I would have closed this ad if it weren’t for one “but” ... In the village, a few kilometers from the indicated gardening, my beloved mother-in-law had an old apartment in an old three-apartment house, where we were a family several times stopped by for sandwiches after visiting the graves of my wife's relatives in a cemetery near the village.

    Without saying anything to anyone about my find, next weekend I decided to go picking mushrooms in those parts and at the same time go to gardening and see with my own eyes what kind of place it is.
    While driving there, I completely forgot about mushrooms and first of all went with the help of a navigator to look for gardening. He easily found it and, turning onto the first line that came across, drove along the sections, which turned out to be mostly just a forest, into which no human had set foot for a long time. True, there were also developed plots with summer cottages in a different state from completely dilapidated abandoned to recently built, surrounded by beds, greenhouses and other fruits of gardening efforts.

    But still, for the most part, these were empty areas overgrown with forests, and moreover, many lines (drives) along which I drove were actively overgrown with young growth, indicating that the places here were not too habitable.

    On one of the lines, I noticed a site on which there was a change house, near which summer residents (a man and a woman) were diligently swarming around the house, literally not straightening their backs in a pose familiar to gardeners. Without hesitation, I decided to stop and find out from them how they live here without electricity in this God-forgotten wilderness.
    Not too friendly (apparently I invaded their summer cottage too suddenly and unexpectedly), they said that there is a chairman who can answer my questions and gave me his phone number.

    I did not rush to call the chairman, because after all that I had seen and from these not very hospitable interlocutors, my dream of a dacha faded a little. Although on the other hand… And what did I expect from these people…?! They are poking around quietly in their garden, all alone... in complete silence... and then a car stops in front of them, some guy comes out... asks some questions... but who knows what he has in mind... maybe he set out to steal here they have something gardening and simply distracts their attention ... or even worse ... it’s scary even to think ... thanks at least they gave the chairman’s phone number.

    But I thought about this a little later, and at that moment I decided to go home, even to go into the forest for mushrooms, the desire was gone ...

    The week flew by in everyday work and worries, but the thought of a mysterious, gloomy gardening with a plot at a fabulous price did not leave my head. By the end of the week, it was decided to “go for mushrooms” again at the weekend, but first call the chairman and ask him something, at that time I didn’t even really understand what to ask him, because I didn’t have any experience and knowledge in I didn't have this case.

    The chairman answered my phone call with restrained cordiality and saying that on Saturday he would be in those parts, he suggested that I drive up and discuss what he could offer me in resolving my dacha problem ...

    And on a Saturday September morning, after driving for 75 minutes, I found myself in front of the chairman's garden house, the location of which he described to me in advance.
    In a conversation on a not too rich and not too well maintained veranda, the chairman of the gardening told me that there are free plots and I can choose from the free ones, make the necessary contributions and become a gardener. Moreover, the total figure of contributions and payments turned out to be even lower than the price of the plot in the announcement that brought me here ... As for electricity, I was told that physically everything for the power supply was installed and at the moment he (the chairman) is concluding an agreement with the supply organization, after which the treasured switch will be turned on and current will run in the wires along all lines. It remains only to bring the cable and put the introductory machine on the building in the garden.

    While I was listening to his promises of a bright (in the sense of electric lighting) life, my brain counted the money that I had to pay for a plot of 10 acres and persistently multiplied them by two, clearly hinting that 10 acres would not be enough for me and I need 20! Although before that my requests were limited to a plot of 10 to 15 acres.

    And I decided… “Are there 2 plots located next to each other…? I would have made my mother-in-law a gardener in the neighborhood ... ”He rummaged through his tablet, scratched his head and says“ yes, but electricity poles have not yet been installed on that line ... ”. Sadness ... Here, it would seem, the dream was so close ... But again an obstacle ... No, I think I can’t live without poles, I can’t ... It’s one thing to wait until the switch is turned on, and it’s quite another to wait until the chairman allocates money for the installation of poles with wires ... “No, I don’t want that,” I affirmed myself and decided to go out into the fresh air and think about my difficult fate ...

    And suddenly, out of nowhere, the chairman’s neighbor runs ... She became curious to see who it was that was languishing with the chairman here ... "... her face lit up from the sudden realization of happiness ... I know, she says, two good people whose plots border and, they say, they would be ready to give them up in my favor ... People grabbed the plots at an unworthy price, but did not begin to develop ... and they have already despaired of waiting for electricity ... and no one canceled the annual contributions ...

    My joy knew no bounds ... apparently there is still a God in the world ...

    In general, you can describe my emotions for a long time, the strange emotions of a cunning (as it seemed to me) chairman’s neighbor, but for a long time, whether it’s short, jumped into the car, drove to the indicated landmarks of the location of the cherished sections and realized that IT ... and the line is not very overgrown ... and there are developed sections on the line, which means I will not be the only one to languish in the wild forest ... and the place, as it seemed to me, is not the lowest in gardening ... and the fire pond in the neighborhood ... In general - an unearthly blunder!

    I returned to the chairman on the veranda, called his neighbor ... We completed the papers of principle and it was decided to meet again with all the participants in the process in a week to finalize all the papers and resolve financial issues.

    As agreed, so everything happened. 20 coveted acres ... Happiness knew no bounds until I told my wife about everything ... Then I remembered the fairy tale “About the fisherman and the fish” ... I felt like that unfortunate grandfather who wanted to do the best, but still turned out to be scolded ... Only in our case she scolded me for not having enough money, saying that I’m not taking her on vacation to the seas, but here I’m buying stupid plots of forest, with which now (in her understanding) I don’t know what to do ... But I know what to do ... Work, work and work, so that someday it becomes good ...

    Having become the conditional owner of 20 acres of land with a total size of 40 * 50 meters, I decided to start with the basic layout of the site.

    Having determined (during the last visit to the site) with the help of a compass, which always lies in the car (and suddenly I get lost) the direction of the cardinal points on my site, I broke it into zones.

    I immediately identified a zone where I would like to leave decent existing trees (fir trees, maples and birches) - on the east side, so that birds and squirrels, which were present in abundance on the site, would not leave it. In the same place, in the eastern part, he determined a place for the future bath. The bath should be surrounded by trees to add color to the feeling of "relaxation" during wellness treatments. Well, plus, the eastern part of the site is ideal for the "forest", because the site will be shaded (and even then not much) only in the early morning, when the air is just starting to warm up in summer. And the main time of the day (after a late breakfast) trees will not create a shadow on the site.

    It was decided to place the house in the western part of the site, close (as far as possible) to the northern border of the site, i.e. so that the main "residential" part of the site is open to the rays of the sun, free from buildings and nothing would create an extra shadow.

    At first, I didn’t want to think about the beds at all, because it would not be up to the beds for a very long time, but I decided that at this stage I would simply provide a place for them, so to speak, “to be”. Along the southern border of the site for them, it seemed to me the place was ideal.

    And of course, I would like to have an orchard (small). And he determined a place for fruit trees in the southwestern part of the site. In the same place, if desired, it will be possible to plant some berry bushes.

    So, in principle, the layout was determined.

    First of all (due to the lack of experience in such construction), it was decided to practice building a bathhouse - I included this zone in the plan for cutting down trees and uprooting stumps in order to start building a bathhouse in winter. Well, it was decided that I would make a check-in to the site in the near future - this is how the area for cutting trees from the bath area to the entrance was determined.

    I thought for a long time about when to start construction ... My main thought was that by the beginning of the autumn period (cold and rains) you need to have a closed finished warm circuit in order to carry out work inside during the cold and wet period. From this he repulsed. At that time, I had no idea how fast my construction would go, because: first, it was planned to allocate funds for the construction from the current monthly budget (and this is not so much), and second, my only construction option was and is - do absolutely everything with just my two hands, because hiring workers is an unaffordable luxury for my thin monthly budget. But I definitely set a deadline for myself - the New Year, the deadline for the completion of all construction and finishing work. I planned to celebrate the New Year with the whole family in the country. And this meant that I had exactly a year to build a bathhouse and the minimum arrangement of the site.

    And another huge plus of building a frame in winter - wood is "as if" cheaper, not hot and flies do not bite ...

    To ensure the necessary minimum development of the site, 2 months were allotted: October and November. It was decided to arrange the pile-screw foundation during December. And immediately after the celebration of the New Year, take advantage of the long weekend to start building the power frame. By the May holidays, it was planned to finish the load-bearing frame and make a roof, so that from the May holidays they would begin to close (insulate) the contour of the bath (floors, walls, ceiling). That. by the end of the summer, I planned to finish with insulation, do all the preparatory work from the inside for finishing, and be sure to sew up the facades. For the fall, I left the work on interior decoration, electrics and furniture.

    According to this plan, all possible weekends and vacation days were scheduled a year in advance. The time has come to start putting these plans into practice and the main thing is not to screw up, I would not like to hear from my wife the phrase “Well, I told you, I knew it ...” after a while.

    In the car, to organize a bed, 12mm plywood, a couple of meters of centimeter “foam” and some fabric were bought. From this set, a sleeper in the car was made. The plywood was cut along the contour of the rear of the car with the seats folded and covered with a fabric with foam padding, the fabric was shot with a furniture stapler from the underside. That. It turned out to be a flat bed, not too hard.

    To implement the plan I loaded into the car:
    - sleeping bag;
    - gas burner and pot (+ bowl, mug, cutlery);
    - an awning (3*6) for the organization of a temporary canopy;
    - the cheapest plastic sink (make a washbasin);
    - 20 liter shower capacity (washbasin);
    - chainsaw (available from fishing trips);
    - an ax, a hammer and some nails (which were at home).

    And went to his forest for the weekend.

    With the help of a 50-meter tape measure and a signal tape, I marked the border of work for the fall. From the cut down trees, I built a small canopy and covered it with an awning so that I could hide from the autumn rains and just calmly rest, have a snack or drink tea. A washbasin was arranged next to the shed, a container with water was hung. Now you could safely wash your face in the morning, wash your hands and just wash the dishes after eating and cooking.

    Until mid-November, I sawed wood. Trees more than 5 cm thick I folded so that they would dry and later turn into firewood, and everything thinner than 5 cm, as well as chopped branches, were put into a fire and burned.

    Having finished with the planned volume of sawing trees, I started uprooting stumps in the area of the future construction of the bath. I started uprooting stumps with a lever winch with a maximum force of 4 tons (indicated on the nameplate). Having completed 2/3 of the planned plan, the winch died, the composite “stars” crumbled and the teeth were chewed, and the drum on which the cable was wound was deformed so that it looked like chewed gum. My mistake was that I didn't spend too much time digging around the stumps. I only slightly exposed the upper ones and just pulled with a winch. But the main reason, it seems to me, is the disgusting metal on the winch power mechanism. It is designed only for short-term infrequent use, for example, to pull out a stuck car, and it is not suitable for anything else. Well, God bless her, I had to try.

    After the death of the winch, it became harder to uproot (pull out) the stumps. While digging the roots, three shovels died, because I bought cheap ones. The shovel was constantly clinging to the roots and the forces applied to it exceeded its breakage resistance limits. The conclusion is drawn: cheap shovels are designed for gentle and uncomplicated work ...

    To facilitate their work, it was decided to mark the places of twisting piles with pegs. In those places where the peg fell on the stump or next to it on the roots, the stump was thoroughly removed along with all the roots. The stumps that ended up in the spans between the piles were dug up and cut down (sawed out) below ground level, the remaining roots themselves will rot in a couple of years.

    Taking into account the simplification of the clearing method, by the beginning of December the site was completely ready for the installation of a pile-screw foundation for the future bathhouse.

    And the period of monitoring the cost of screw piles from different manufacturers (industries) began.

    By mid-December, I knew what piles I needed and where I could buy them. And also, how to bring them to the country without extra costs.

    About the project...
    I did not look for ready-made layouts on the Internet, but began to sketch out plans for my specific requirements that had developed in my head.

    The requirements for me were:
    - steam room: the ability to lie in full growth for two in two directions;
    - shower room: shower itself + area with a bench for an emergency "rest" when leaving the steam room;
    - recreation room: place for a dining table and sleeping places for 2 adults and 2 children;
    - availability of a kitchen for cooking and storing food;
    - a temperature vestibule before going outside for taking off / putting on outerwear and shoes.

    Having thrown several sketches with different layouts of the premises, with heavy efforts, one was chosen, on which he stopped, and which was transferred to the graphics.

    The layout taken as a basis during the design process remained practically unchanged, with the exception of only the dimensions of the premises and the overall dimensions of the structure, which were repeatedly adjusted when “fitting” to the standard dimensions of the materials (board 6m), the spacing of the racks of the outer walls, etc. I tried minimize the number of trimmings when constructing a frame. Subsequently, the purchase of the board was carried out without a margin with an accurate calculation of the length of each element.

    The bath project was created throughout the autumn. It took a long time, because it was reworked and corrected several times, but on the other hand, this ensured a minimum of errors and unforeseen situations during the construction process.

    Very often I wanted to give up this design to hell and build as it would turn out ... Because when once again placing the frame racks, taking into account the “correct” angles, it turned out that the bathhouse should be 150-250mm longer, I again had to return to adjusting the lower trim ... “flying” the step of installing the floor lag, etc. - it seemed to me that I would go crazy ... at some point I began to dream of these drawings, and in a dream I changed the step of the racks, increased the height of the bath, finished drawing the second floor, etc. …
    But I survived... and the project with the main solutions was created.

    By the way, in the process of twisting the piles, some difficulties arose, which led to another adjustment of the project ... the house became a little larger ... But more on that later.

    So, first of all, it was decided to buy piles in order to finally stake out the decision to start construction.

    I have a 4.5m boat trailer on which my motorboat is parked in the garage.

    Having drawn a simple scheme of support structures for storing a motorboat, I drove into a hardware store, bought a few boards and put together a frame in the garage, on which the boat was to be lifted in order to free the trailer. It took me a lot of effort to single-handedly raise the boat half a meter above the trailer inside the garage, but this was done and now it was possible to modify the trailer for construction needs.

    A few more boards and a body was organized on the trailer. I also bought a roll of geotextile, I wanted to sheathe the body from the inside, but after spending half an hour with the first trial piece, I abandoned this idea, deciding that it would do anyway. Geotextiles constantly clung to unplaned boards and did not want to spread evenly.

    The trailer is ready. I called the production of piles, ordered 11 pieces by the next Saturday, along with heads, and on the appointed day brought them on a trailer and put them in the garage.

    The following week, I agreed with a couple of friends to spend the weekend in the fresh frosty air and at the same time (between the “cases”) screw 11 screw piles into the ground.

    Additionally, for twisting the piles, I grabbed scrap in the garage and bought a 50mm metal square pipe with a 5mm wall, 6 meters long, safely sawn in half.
