The wallpaper is stretched. Stretch desktop background to fit all screens

Before you learn how to glue non-woven wallpaper, let's briefly learn what it is. Non-woven wallpaper is called, because of its base - non-woven, this is a canvas made of compressed textile fibers. The second, decorative, layer is porous vinyl, which forms a relief pattern. Such wallpapers are much stronger than paper ones and stretch better, keep this in mind when sticking non-woven wallpaper. They come in two types, dyed and non-dyed.

Non-woven wallpaper has a number of distinctive features that must be considered when sticking. As already mentioned, non-woven wallpaper stretches, so do not be too zealous when sticking, you can stretch a lot, so that one sheet will run over the second.
Non-woven wallpaper allows air to pass through, so they do not bubble when pasted.

Due to the large thickness, the wallpaper is glued to the joint.
The wall should be approximately the same color, since non-woven wallpaper is slightly translucent and after the wallpaper dries, different colors of the wall may be noticeable. But in extreme cases, if you are painting wallpaper, you can paint it several times, then the color difference will disappear.
Non-woven wallpaper hides small wall irregularities well, so there is no need to bring the wall to perfect condition. Also, non-woven fabric does not tear on small cracks in the wall (from shrinkage at home), like paper wallpaper.

Let's start sticking non-woven wallpaper. We are preparing wallpaper glue, it must be special, the package should say: glue for non-woven wallpaper. Glue consumption can be read on the packaging. Pour the required amount of water into the container and gradually pour glue into it, stirring constantly. Let the glue sit for 5-10 minutes and mix well again.

Next, you need to remove all switches, sockets and other items that hang on the walls, if possible, remove the baseboard. Before the sticker, it is necessary to mark a vertical line, a plumb line or a building level. The first canvas should be glued along this line.

When gluing non-woven wallpaper, you need to spread only the wall, you do not need to spread the wallpaper.

After the pasted first canvas, glue the next one to the joint to the previous one and so on until the end. Non-woven wallpaper does not need to look in which direction to glue and which side to start from, like paper, from where it is more convenient for you, start from there. The canvases need to be cut with a margin, add 5-10 centimeters to the height of the walls, after gluing the excess is carefully cut off with a sharp knife.

Another important point, when gluing, leave 1 mm between the canvases, when you smooth the canvas, gently move the glued canvas to the previous one with your hands or with a plastic spatula.

After you have pasted non-woven wallpaper throughout the room, leave the room closed for a day so that the glue can dry.

Now there are a lot of monitors of completely different sizes. Very often, desktop wallpapers that fit a laptop do not cover the entire screen on a computer monitor, or they are stretched so that the image is distorted and the picture or photo becomes ugly. Do not rush to refuse such wallpapers. If you like them, try adjusting the wallpaper to fit your monitor.

Making desktop wallpapers in full screen

First you need to find out exactly what size wallpaper you need.

To do this, press the START button, find the line "Control Panel" - click. A large list will appear. Regardless of which version of Windows you have installed, find the "Screen" icon and click on it. A window similar to the one in the picture will appear. I now have windows-7 installed, for other versions the window is slightly different, but the essence remains the same. You need to find the "Screen Resolution Settings" function.

After you click "Screen Resolution Settings", another window will appear where you need the "Resolution" line. Opposite it, you see numbers expressing the size of your monitor in pixels. This is the picture size you need in order to make the wallpaper full screen. As you can see in the picture, my screen size is 1366 pixels wide and 768 pixels high. Yours may be different.

Now we save to your computer the picture that you want to use as wallpaper for your desktop. The easiest way to resize wallpaper is to use Photoshop. But we will proceed from the fact that it is not installed on your PC, and we use another program that is on any computer with the Windows operating system.

Find the picture in the folder and click on it with the right mouse button. Select "Open with". A list will come out in which you need to click on the line "Microsoft Office Picture Manager" and the picture will open in this program.

Further actions will be different depending on whether you have a standard screen or a wide one, and what proportions your wallpaper has. We will learn how to enlarge the wallpaper, and also figure out what can be done when the wallpaper is of normal proportions and the screen is wide.

Adjusting ordinary wallpapers to a wide screen

1 way if the photo can be cropped in height

You need to click on the "Picture" button, and in the drop-down list on "Resize".

We mark "Percentage of the original width and height" and set the desired percentage empirically. We have a picture width of 1024, but we need 1366 pixels, that is, it should be larger by about 33%. We add 33 to the original hundred percent and enter 133% in the field. The picture is enlarged.

We can see the new size of the picture right there - "Final size". We see that the new size of our wallpaper has become 1362x1021. Don't forget to click on the OK button.

If you have standard screen proportions, then this is usually enough to increase the size of the wallpaper on your desktop. But if the screen is wide, like mine, then you may notice that the height of the picture has become larger than necessary. Therefore, we will cut off the excess, for which we will again click on "Picture" and select the line "Crop".

We will cut this wallpaper from below. We have a height of 1024, but we need 768, that is, we cut off 256 pixels. Click the OK button and save the picture - "File" - "Save". Depending on what is shown in the picture, you can cut off the bottom or top, or a little above and a little below.

2nd way to enlarge the picture if the picture is not cropped

Everything is much simpler here, with the only difference being that if the photo is not cropped, then empty fields will remain on the side of the picture on the monitor.

We increase the drawing to the desired size as described in the first method, but so that none of the sides is larger than necessary. If you have a wide screen, and the picture is of standard sizes, then we increase the height, and the width will turn out to be smaller than the screen size. We save.

We put wallpaper on the desktop and select the color of the screen (unfilled stripes on the sides) to match the color of the picture. To do this, go to START - Control Panel - Display again.

Click on the line "Change desktop background". Through the "overview" we find the saved picture, "Image Position" select "Centered", below we click on the line "Change background color".

rice. background color

A palette window appears. We select the color most suitable for your picture, click OK. The window with the palette disappears, click on the "Save Changes" button.

And, what else should be mentioned, if the picture is very small, and you are trying to enlarge it to full screen, then the image quality may suffer.

If the article helped you wallpaper full screen please like below or leave a comment.

In some cases, it is required to be able to resize an existing image. Depending on the application in which it is supposed to use such a picture, the methods for changing its size will change accordingly.

How to stretch a picture on the desktop

Quite often, when setting the desktop background, there is a discrepancy between the size of such an image and the work area (a monochromatic background is observed along the edges of the image).

It is also worth noting that it is virtually impossible to stretch an image without losing quality. Initially, an image consists of a certain number of pixels (colored dots) per square inch. Accordingly, as the size of the image increases, these dots also increase, which causes visual degradation of the image quality.

To stretch the picture on the desktop, the easiest way is to use the built-in tools of the operating system. To do this, right-click the context menu from the free area of the desktop, select the "Personalization" item, and in the lower left part of the window that opens, click on the "Desktop background" icon.

At the top of the window that appears, click the "Browse" button and select the picture that you want to set as the desktop background. To fill the entire area of the workspace, select "Stretch" in the drop-down list at the bottom left of the screen.

The basic syntax for this operator, which allows you to stretch an image in HTML, is background-size: cover

This statement in the page's code array is used after the background image to be used has been determined.

Thus, the procedure that allows you to increase the size of the picture is much simpler than the steps taken to.

Vinyl wallpaper is a modern material for renovation and interior decoration. Such wallpapers consist of a paper or non-woven base covered with a thin vinyl film. Nowadays, wallpapers of this type are widely used due to a large number of positive properties:

  • The highest durability. A special PVC coating has a unique ability to withstand all mechanical damage and destructive external influences.
  • Elasticity. This is one of their main distinguishing features. Traditional paper versions tend to tear with any careless movement during the gluing process. Vinyl wallpaper does not have this drawback. They do not tear and stretch well.
  • Democratic prices. In hardware stores today you can find a wide selection of inexpensive, but very high-quality wallpapers.

The disadvantages of wallpaper include the following:

  • The complexity of pasting - the ability of wet wallpaper to stretch can play a cruel joke: after they dry, gaps will appear between adjacent strips.
  • PVC coating of the surface of the wallpaper improves their moisture resistance, but does not allow the walls to “breathe”.
  • Vinyl does not like sudden changes in the level of humidity and temperature in the room - the wallpaper can be deformed.

If you are not sure that you will be able to stick vinyl wallpaper on your own, it is better to turn to the help of professionals. This material is quite capricious and not very easy to work with.

However, if you already have some experience and useful skills in wallpapering, you can handle this task yourself. How to do it right, we will tell you in more detail.

How to glue them correctly

In order for the process of finishing a room to be successful and productive, it is necessary to strictly observe all the technological subtleties and rules.

First of all, remember that you can glue such wallpapers only on a dry and perfectly smooth surface. Therefore, before embarking on this responsible business, it is necessary to process the walls in a special way. It is necessary to get rid of all old coatings (traces of paint, plaster, old wallpaper). Then it is necessary to putty the cracks and level the surface of the walls.

Only after all the necessary preparations are made, you can start wallpapering. They must be cut into strips of the desired length (do not forget to leave an allowance of about ten centimeters). Do not forget that adjacent stripes should match each other as much as possible in the pattern.

It is recommended to glue wallpaper from vinyl end-to-end. But keep in mind that this building material has the ability to "sit down" under the influence of glue - after drying, noticeable gaps may appear between the strips. Therefore, do not apply too much glue and do not stretch the wallpaper in width when pasting. Gently apply the strips to the wall and smooth with a spatula. It is better to work the seams especially carefully with a roller or a small brush.

Starting to stick wallpaper, make sure that there are no drafts in the room. Do not open windows and doors or turn on air conditioners. Glue for vinyl wallpaper requires a special one. Dilute the adhesive according to the instructions. Usually, after dilution, the glue should stand for another 5-10 minutes.

It is almost impossible to glue wallpaper qualitatively alone. Do this with two people (one person, standing on a stepladder, applies the wallpaper to the top of the wall, and the other gently holds and smoothes the strip).

Video lesson

If you want to hang vinyl wallpaper, but doubt your abilities, one theoretical explanation will not be enough. In order to study the process of wallpapering in all details and details, we advise you to watch special videos.

Wallpapering, especially vinyl wallpaper, requires knowledge of some important secrets that will help you cope with this difficult task not only quickly, but also with the highest quality. First you need to find out how such wallpapers are arranged. This is a two-layer wallpaper - the bottom layer is made of paper, and the second, upper, directly from vinyl (or, scientifically, polyvinyl chloride). At the beginning of gluing, it should be noted that vinyl wallpaper, when applied with glue and simply when wet, stretches, and after drying, it shrinks. This can cause the seams to come apart.

Choose your vinyl wallpaper wisely. This is first. Do not rush to unpack the rolls after purchase (then you will not be able to return the wallpaper to the store if something is not to your liking), but rather study it carefully.

It is important that all tubes have the same shade, that there is no mechanical damage, and that the same batch number is everywhere.

Carefully read the attached instructions, everything should be clear and understandable. Calculate the required amount of wallpaper for gluing the entire room. If damage or signs of marriage are found after the roll has been opened and the wallpaper has been glued, it will not be possible to return them to the store or compensate for the damage. Unpacking vinyl, and any other wallpaper (paper, washable), indicates that the buyer has accepted the goods and it is no longer subject to return or exchange.

Prepare the surface before starting. This is second. Walls or ceilings must first be cleaned of dirt, dust, bumps and remnants of old wallpaper. The surface must be clean, smooth, and, of course, dry. In the presence of pits, chips, cracks or other flaws, they must be puttied, and then the entire surface should be covered with a primer. If the surface (wall, ceiling) on which the vinyl wallpaper will be glued is painted with acrylic or water-based paint, it just needs to be primed. If with oil paint or varnish, then first treat the surface with sandpaper, and only then cover with a primer. If there is whitewash on the surface, then it must be washed off. And, after drying, primed. The plastered wall or ceiling should be puttied with a thin layer.

After the putty has dried, sand the entire surface with sandpaper. And primed, of course. Before sticking PVC wallpaper, the concrete surface should be painted with acrylic or covered with putty. After waiting for the surface to dry, clean it with sandpaper and cover with a primer so that stains do not appear on the walls from the interaction of concrete with wallpaper glue. If the walls are covered with mold, they must be carefully removed. But in order for the plaque not to appear again, it is necessary to recognize and eliminate the cause of its occurrence in the room.

The reasons can be different - from high humidity to low-quality building materials. Glue must be prepared and applied correctly. An equally important point. Preparing glue for working with vinyl wallpaper is practically the same as preparing it for paper. Here the basic principle is to use glue designed specifically for vinyl wallpaper. After reading the instructions, you can begin work. One caveat - the glue is applied not only to the wallpaper, but also to the surface of the wall (ceiling). To avoid stretching the vinyl, do not hold the glue for more than five minutes - applied to the wallpaper - immediately glue. In addition, wallpaper that is too wet may tear when pasted.

Beginning of wallpapering.

Fundamental rules.

  • Glue wallpaper only end-to-end. Gluing vinyl wallpaper with an overlap is fraught with the fact that the junction of the two strips will stand out strongly due to the rather dense structure of the vinyl. It will be difficult to glue the bottom paper layer onto PVC using ordinary wallpaper glue. These places will then begin to diverge. You do not burn with the desire to constantly glue the edges of the departed wallpaper? Therefore, the best option for gluing vinyl wallpaper is only end-to-end.
  • Don't stretch your wallpaper! By stretching the wallpaper on the wall, you risk getting huge gaps between the stripes as a result. Remember that vinyl tends to shrink as it dries. Place the wallpaper on the wall freely, without trying to stretch or hold on to them. The strips should easily adjoin each other.
  • Joint cutting. It is likely that when gluing the last strip, it will turn out that it does not fit end-to-end with the previously pasted strip. You will have to cut off the part on the left or right. When pruning, you should get a strip, 3-4 cm wider than necessary. And when gluing the cut edge, you need to place it on the strip glued before. And the "original" edge, as expected, is glued end-to-end. Then the resulting bulge must be cut vertically with a clerical knife, from top to bottom. After that, unscrew the edges of the strips at the cutting point and remove the trimmings. And, putting the edges back, smooth out the junction of the strips.
