Strawberries grow in a pipe. Vertical cultivation of strawberries

Instructions for growing strawberries in PVC pipes.

Growing strawberries in PVC pipes is one of the unusual and interesting ways to get a good harvest of berries. It is worth noting that many summer residents use this method if there is not enough space in their own dacha and all the beds are occupied, but they want to enjoy a delicious, sweet berry.

Growing strawberries and wild strawberries in PVC pipes: a list of productive varieties

The simplest option for making strawberry plantings in PVC pipes is the base of the beds on stands. Some summer residents install PVC pipes with strawberries directly on the fences, or under it. It's not the best place though. Since the berries love heat and a lot of light. In this case, they turn out bright, juicy and tasty.

It is worth noting that not all varieties are suitable for growing in pipes. It is best to choose early species. They take root as quickly as possible and do not require serious and painstaking care.

List of varieties:

  • yellow wonder
  • Pomegranate
  • Desnyanka
  • Troubadour
  • Baby elephant

In order to acquire such beds with strawberries, it is necessary to equip the pipes. That is, places to plant strawberries, as well as purchase seedlings or seeds. You can use the propagation of roots or antennae. The fact is that not all types of strawberries are suitable for planting in pipes, but only remontant ones. Therefore, only some varieties will be ideal. Hybrid varieties are not suitable for growing.

Choosing a place for vertical and horizontal planting of strawberries, strawberries in PVC pipes: tips, recommendations

The place for growing strawberries should be bright and have good air circulation. Quite often, berries are grown in greenhouses in this way. This method saves soil and simplifies plant care. They are also often installed in special supports along fences or directly on them. Often make beds with other plants by installing pipes with strawberries around the perimeter.

What pipe diameter to choose for planting strawberries, strawberries in a horizontal and vertical way?

For growing strawberries, pipes with a diameter of 10 and 15 cm are used. You can use not only new pipes, but also old pipes that were removed during the repair.

Preparing PVC pipes for planting strawberries and strawberries in PVC pipes: description, tips

Well, some sensors say that this cultivation technique is quite expensive. In fact, there are many options to reduce the cost of growing strawberries and not use drip irrigation.

In order to grow strawberries in pipes, you need to prepare them properly.

Tools and materials:

  • Pipe plugs
  • Special cutter
  • Pipes for drip irrigation
  • Drainage systems
  • PVC pipes

Instruction:

  • In order to prepare the pipes, you need to cut round holes in them for the bushes. The diameter of these holes is 15 cm. It is in these holes that strawberries will be planted.
  • Next, you need to install a drip irrigation system with a thin water pipe, having previously made several holes in it with a drill. Further, the irrigation pipe is inserted into a large PVC pipe and closed with plugs.
  • There are many ways to reduce the cost of the system and therefore sometimes drip irrigation is ignored and each bush is watered directly on its own. This helps to significantly reduce construction costs.
  • Not special ones are used as plugs, but ordinary wooden mugs are clogged. Several holes must be made at the bottom of the pipe so that excess water does not accumulate, and the roots do not rot, fungus, powdery mildew, and root rot do not form.
  • After the holes are cut, the pipe itself is closed with plugs and filled with soil. After that, the soil is moistened and the strawberry bushes themselves are planted.
  • Holes must be made at a distance of 20 cm from each other. As for preparing the pipe for vertical planting of strawberries, in PVC pipes, it is necessary to make holes in a checkerboard pattern. In this case, their diameter should be approximately 10 cm. In this case, drainage should be installed before the irrigation pipes. After that, the pipe is filled with soil.

What should be the composition of the soil for growing strawberries and strawberries in PVC pipes with soil?

It is worth noting that the soil for growing strawberries in PVC pipes should be light, soddy. A prerequisite is drainage, its layer should be 2-3 cm. Pebbles or expanded clay are used as drainage. After filling each hole, a drainage layer of about 2-3 cm is filled up. You must remember that such land will be poor, because there are no natural elements and the strawberries themselves will not be able to take nutrients from the soil. Therefore, fertilizing and watering with special fertilizers, as well as growth stimulants, will be necessary quite often.

You can prepare the soil from a mixture of garden soil and peat. Only after cooking, it is necessary to pour boiling water over the soil and treat it with some kind of fungicide so that pathogenic microorganisms and pests do not multiply and grow.

How to lay the earth in a pipe for growing strawberries and strawberries in a vertical and horizontal way?

Backfilling soil into pipes is a lengthy and complex manipulation, because you need to constantly compact the soil and avoid a thin or loose layer. Because this layer is compacted during irrigation, voids are formed that will adversely affect the yield of strawberries.

Strawberry irrigation system in a vertical and horizontal pipe: device diagram, tips

There are several options for watering strawberries planted in PVC pipes. The fact is that many gardeners save money and do not care about drip irrigation at all. Therefore, the plants are watered directly under the bushes, into the holes where the strawberries are planted. But you can do things a little differently.

Instruction:

  • To do this, take a pipe of small diameter for cold water. Holes are drilled in a checkerboard pattern, they are wrapped with agrofiber or fabric that passes water well.
  • Next, the pipe is placed in a larger diameter pipe with holes, which will serve as the frame of the structure. If this is a vertical planting method, then the irrigation pipe is placed clearly in the center.
  • If this is a horizontal position, then the pipe is placed from below, directly on the drainage layer, that is, you first need to fill in the drainage layer, place the pipe and only then fill in the prepared soil.

Top dressing of strawberries, strawberries planted in pipes through drip irrigation: description, composition

The soil must be regularly watered, as well as apply mineral fertilizers. Since there is no direct access to the soil, all fertilizers and top dressings are introduced in liquid form along with irrigation. For this, additives such as boric acid, cobalt nitrate, manganese sulfate, ammonium nitrate, and urea are used. You can also feed strawberries with organic fertilizers. This is a solution of chicken manure or mullein. Top dressing is carried out directly several times before flowering. There is no need to fertilize during flowering. Already as the berries ripen, mineral and organic fertilizers can be applied.

Growing strawberries and strawberries in PVC pipes vertically and horizontally in hydroponics: a description of planting, watering

It is possible to grow strawberries in PVC pipes using a hydroponics system.

Instruction:

  • To create it is necessary to fill the pipes with the substrate. Use expanded clay or coconut fiber. Next, you need to prepare a nutrient solution in a separate container, which will circulate through the substrate.
  • To do this, 1 g of a substance prepared from potassium nitrate, superphosphate, magnesium sulfate, zinc sulfate, ammonium nitrate, copper sulfate, ferric chloride, boric acid is dissolved in one liter of water. All this is mixed and 1 g of dry powder is diluted in a liter of water.
  • You will also need an aquarium pump to set up the system, which will pump the nutrient solution through the fill layer.

What should be the composition of the compost for growing strawberries and strawberries in hydroponics?

It is also recommended to carry out watering with compost, for growing strawberries and strawberries in hydroponics. Please note that feeding is carried out infrequently. If you use complex fertilizer and minerals, then in principle it is not necessary to supplement or feed with compost. A ten percent solution is usually used. Feeding can be done about once every 3 weeks.

What should be the composition of the nutrient solution, what should be the fertilizer for growing strawberries and strawberries in hydroponics?

If you don't want to prepare your own nutrient solution, you can buy ready-made ones. They are called Yara, Kristalin. They contain different amounts of nitrogen and potassium. They must also be dissolved in an amount of 1-1.5 grams per liter of water.

Growing strawberries and wild strawberries on a balcony, in a greenhouse, on the street: features

You can grow strawberries in PVC pipes not only on the street, but also on a balcony or in a greenhouse. This requires constant temperature conditions and high humidity. From time to time, before flowering, it is necessary to spray strawberries from a spray bottle with clean water at room temperature.

It is worth paying attention that it is not necessary to lower the temperature to a level below 20 degrees Celsius, because the growth of bushes slows down and the formation of berries stops. Therefore, the optimal temperature is 23 and 25 degrees. If cultivation is carried out in winter, then for a good harvest, it is necessary to additionally illuminate the plants. Often, a sodium lamp is used for these purposes, which is installed above pipes with strawberries.

Strawberries, wild strawberries in PVC pipes horizontally and vertically: how does it winter in a pipe?

If you grow strawberries in open ground, then in winter you need to transfer beds with strawberries to a balcony or cellar. Exactly the same processing is carried out as strawberries in the garden. It is necessary to trim the bushes and water them, treat them from pests. Then the pipes are removed into the cellar. Needs to be watered from time to time. The optimum temperature at which cut strawberries hibernate is 4-5 degrees. But if you constantly maintain such a temperature in conditions of high humidity, the development of fungal diseases is possible. Therefore, it is necessary to ventilate the cellar from time to time, and also carry out antifungal treatment, just before you take out the beds with strawberries on the open ground.

VIDEO: Strawberries in PVC pipes

I love strawberries, but on 6 acres it’s impossible to allocate a lot of space for the plantation of this delicious berry. Recently, I got acquainted with an interesting technology for growing strawberries in PVC pipes horizontally, which allows you to get a large crop of berries in a limited space.

This article discusses the issues associated with using conventional plumbing pipes to create original strawberry beds.

Ready to experiment, gardeners use a wide variety of containers to accommodate plants. A convenient and economical way to grow strawberries and wild strawberries in plastic pipes allows you to create beautiful compositions in the garden.

  1. Pipes with flowering and fruiting plants are placed on the fence and walls, they can be placed on the balcony and placed in the greenhouse. Picturesque columns are formed from pipes placed vertically. Horizontally laid PVC pipes form compact beds.
  2. Strawberries grown in a pipe are not clogged with weeds and do not suffer from soil pests.
  3. The berries do not touch the ground, they do not get dirty and are not susceptible to gray rot.
  4. It is easy to take care of the bushes: cut off the mustache and dried leaves, pick berries.
  5. Placing strawberry bushes in pipes allows you to expand the useful area of \u200b\u200bthe garden plot.
  6. In bad weather conditions, plantings can be simply transferred to a greenhouse and sheltered from the weather.

To create unusual beds, you can use the plastic pipes remaining after repair or construction, you will need:

  • Pipes with a diameter of 15 - 30 cm with plugs for the base;
  • Pipes with a diameter of 5 cm for water supply;
  • Geotextile;
  • Drill with a nozzle for cutting round holes;
  • Hacksaw for metal.

Before planting, you must first process the PVC pipes. The preparation of pipes for cultivating strawberries is somewhat different depending on the selected cultivation method, horizontal or vertical.

How to grow strawberries in horizontal pipes

At a distance of 20 cm, several holes are drilled in the pipe with a diameter of 11 - 15 cm, they are placed on the side of the pipe, which will be at the top. An easier way is to cut the top of a horizontal pipe with a hacksaw.

In the middle part below, it is desirable to drill a small hole to drain excess water, it can be closed with a cork. Both ends of the pipe are closed with plugs.

Drainage (expanded clay) is placed at the bottom. To ensure drip irrigation, a specially prepared narrow pipe is laid on the drainage: several small holes are drilled in it and the pipe is wrapped with geotextile.

The pipe is filled with soil, leaving a small space on top. Strawberry seedlings are planted in the prepared holes or in the open part of the pipe.

How to grow strawberries in vertical pipes

In this embodiment, it is preferable to stagger holes with a diameter of 11-15 cm over the entire surface of the pipe, maintaining a distance of 20 cm between them. A plug is installed at the bottom and drainage is poured.

To ensure uniform distribution of water during irrigation in a vertical pipe, a narrow pipe with several holes, wrapped in geotextile, must be additionally placed.

This tube should be slightly longer than the main landing tube. The holes in it should be located at a level of 30 cm above the ground so that the water does not stagnate.

Soil is carefully poured into the pipe and plants are planted in the holes, placing the roots vertically. The prepared pipe with strawberries must be securely fixed, for this it is installed in a bucket of sand and fixed with a cable.

Strawberries grown in pipes do not cause much trouble to the gardener. But if you follow certain rules, she will please you with a good harvest of fragrant berries.

  • For cultivation, it is advisable to use remontant or ampel varieties of strawberries / strawberries, then throughout the summer your mobile beds will be covered with flowers and berries.
  • The soil should be light and nutritious. It is recommended to use a mixture of soil, peat and sand in equal amounts. You can add perlite (no more than 10% of the mixture) and wood ash.
  • Seedlings are planted in the usual way, leaving a growing point above the soil.

  • The soil in the pipe dries out quickly, so you need to water regularly.
  • Overmoistening must not be allowed.
  • It is advisable to use drip irrigation.

Top dressing:

  • Only liquid top dressings are used, biohumus can be used.
  • In early spring, plants will be helped by spraying with ammonia (1 tablespoon per 10 liters of water).

Pest protection:

  • From aphids and spider mites, the bushes are sprayed with biological products (Fitoverm).

  • For the winter, pipes with strawberries can be placed in an unheated greenhouse and covered with spunbond.
  • In places with a mild climate, it is allowed to place the pipe for wintering on the south side of the greenhouse or house.
  • Strawberries cultivated in pipes have little chance of surviving a harsh winter. Beautiful beds are restored by growing seedlings in early spring.

Mobile strawberry beds created with PVC pipes will help to give a unique look to your garden.

Garden strawberries are an incredibly fragrant, vitamin-rich berry that only a very lazy gardener does not grow. The modern cultivation of this crop is a combination of a competent agrotechnical approach for obtaining large yields with attempts to fit the beds as beautifully as possible into the landscape of a summer cottage.

An innovation that has recently come into fashion among gardeners is the cultivation of strawberries in plastic pipes, which are intended for arranging a sewer or drainage system. Craftsmen make vertical or horizontal beds from PVC pipes. These two methods have their own advantages and disadvantages. There are many more of the first, apparently, this is what served as the unprecedented popularity of growing berries in PVC pipes.

The only disadvantage of this method is the need for material expenses. To plant strawberries in such unusual beds, you need to prepare materials. However, you can build horizontal and vertical structures without spending extra money. During repairs, many summer residents have PVC pipe trimmings that can be put into action.

Planting strawberries in plastic pipes has many advantages:

  1. Enormous savings in footprint. With proper placement of vertical and horizontal beds on the site, the yield per square meter is comparable to that obtained from a field planted with strawberries with an area of 100 square meters.
  2. Bed mobility. Strawberries planted in plastic pipes can be moved at any time to a place convenient for the gardener.
  3. No need for tillage, because in horizontal beds it is completely absent, and in vertical beds there is simply no access to it, except through irrigation systems. Pests in the soil, weeds and other misfortunes that threaten strawberries in classic cultivation are not afraid of such plantings.
  4. Harvest pure in every respect. Being at a great distance from the soil surface, the berries remain completely clean during picking. They are not afraid of pollution with chemicals (with an “overdose” of fertilizers, for example).

Finally, beds in pipes, especially vertical ones, will serve not only as an unusual and very original decoration of the garden, but also as a protective screen for plants that cannot stand the bright sun or harsh winds.

Materials and manufacturing technology

To create a structure in which strawberries will be grown, you will need:

  • scraps of PVC pipes with a diameter of about 15 cm and small, to deliver moisture to the roots of plants, 4-5 cm in diameter;
  • plugs that fit the pipes;
  • a drill or other tool for cutting large diameter holes in the walls of pipes;
  • geotextile or ordinary non-synthetic burlap;
  • expanded clay or other material designed to create drainage;
  • nutrient soil.

When all the details of the future beds are assembled, you can begin to assemble the structure. For this, pipes are first prepared:

  • cut them to the desired length (thin ones can be made 15-20 cm shorter than thick ones);
  • they cut holes in a thick pipe with a diameter of at least 7 cm every 10-15 cm, and in a thin pipe - small ones (0.5-1 cm), in three rows with an interval of 8-10 cm;
  • a thin pipe with a ready-made perforation is wrapped with geotextile or natural burlap, which is fixed with twine.
  1. In the first case, plugs are installed on the pipes, and the thick one is deepened at one end into the ground. Next, a narrow tube is installed in it strictly in the center and fixed with a small amount of soil or expanded clay. Gradually pouring a fertile mixture into a wide pipe, strawberries are planted until all the holes in the garden are planted. After that, you can connect a water supply hose to the central narrow pipe.
  2. When creating a horizontal bed, holes in the pipe are cut out only on one side, and plugs are placed on both ends. In the center of such a bed, an additional hole is drilled from below for draining excess fluid, which is closed with a small plug. Expanded clay is poured into the pipe by about half the volume, on top of which lies an irrigation pipe. The top layer is a fertile mixture.

Varieties of strawberries and planting dates

Gardeners practice spring and autumn planting strawberries in plastic pipes. In the first case, it is better to “populate” vertical and horizontal beds after the establishment of heat, and in the second - from mid-August to the third decade of September.

In PVC pipes, it is better to plant strawberry varieties that are resistant to adverse weather conditions, diseases and pests. It is also worth paying attention to such characteristics as ripening dates. The most suitable varieties in this regard are:

  • early varieties - Beauty Zagorya and Pomegranate;
  • mid-early varieties - Nadezhda, Kulon and Zenith;
  • late varieties - Zenga-Zengana, Cinderella.

No less fruitful when grown in plastic beds are also varieties of foreign selection: American Cardinal And Black Svoi, English Bogota And Cambridge Favorite, Dutch strawberry Gigantella And Scottish Troubadour.

strawberry care

Plants are planted as usual: without deepening the root collar and without exposing it too much. In vertical beds, small holes are made in the cells with fingers, and the roots of seedlings are already placed in them. Strawberries are planted in horizontal beds in the classic way.

Useful advice! To make it more difficult for pests to get to strawberries, you can plant marigolds or other plants that have a strong smell that repels insects in the lower tier of vertical beds.

In the future, the successful cultivation of strawberries depends on timely watering and top dressing. Here it is worth remembering that in plastic pipes the volume of soil is less than in ordinary soil. Therefore, watering should be done more often, especially in dry and windy weather.

About once a week, watering is combined with top dressing, adding to the water (1 g per 4 liters of water) a mixture of an equal amount of manganese sulfate, cobalt nitrate and boric acid with zinc. In order not to complicate oneself with the selection of nutrients, this mixture can be replaced with a complex fertilizer for garden strawberries.

If the plantings have been attacked by pests, classic insecticides are used:

  • from strawberry mites, weevils and whiteflies - "Karbofos";
  • from slugs and snails - "Metaldehyde".

How to care for strawberries (video)

In general, the convenience of vertical or horizontal plastic beds is more convenient for most gardeners who use this method. No need for constant weeding, saving space on the site, as well as the ability to automate irrigation with water supply directly to the roots - these are the main advantages that gardeners most often mention.

Probably, this advice is suitable for those gardeners who have little space on the site, and want to grow a lot of strawberries 🙂
Personally, we have a large area, I don’t think that someday I will plant these delicious berries like that. To be honest, I am a conservative and always look with distrust at new ideas in the garden.

interesting idea! we have in the south of the Saratov region, the problem is the drying of the soil. PVC pipes and instead of a film will prevent evaporation, and for the winter horizontal pipes are not a problem to cover with dry grass.
I will try this idea

Natalia, this way of growing strawberries in the Urals is quite real. Indeed, due to climatic conditions, you still have to cover the plant with plastic wrap, pipes can just play the role of such heating. Provided that they are installed in a calm and sunny area with good air circulation. Try experimenting with growing an early strawberry variety this way. The article will help you choose a variety: Strawberries for the Urals: the best varieties and agricultural technology. Copy the link and paste it into your browser's search bar:

Thanks for the advice! we will definitely try!

Growing strawberries in pipes - just for one season? Or how to close for the winter? Strawberries will definitely freeze in tubes.

Mari28 04/04/2017

Irina, whether strawberries freeze in winter, it depends on the area where you live. If in the south, like me, then no, in the middle and northern lanes definitely. Strawberry remontant, one-season fruiting is quite suitable if you do not want to bother with sheltering for the winter. And of course choose frost resistance.

Irina 04.04.2017

Thanks for the answer, but one more question. I live in Tatarstan, in winter there are severe frosts (-30 degrees). How to close strawberries so that they do not die or it is better to clean them indoors. If indoors, what are the conditions.

Mari28 04/05/2017

My friends from Bugulma do not cover their strawberries with anything for the winter. They say it has never frozen, although the temperature dropped to -35C. However, they are grown in the traditional way. It is not acceptable to leave strawberries in pipes in Tatarstan for the winter. You will have to bring it into the room and store it at + 2- + 6C at a constant humidity of 80-90%. It can be maintained by spraying the indoor floor or by hanging a wet cloth. It is quite difficult to keep strawberry seedlings in this way, temperature and humidity changes negatively affect the quality of strawberries. As I advised above, choose a remontant single-season fruiting.

Please tell me the price of plastic pipes for planting strawberries.

Marina 08.04.2017

Lyudmila, I can't give you a definite answer. Prices for building and plumbing materials in Russia vary depending on the region. You can find out the price at any hardware store or on the Internet sites in your city.

As far as I remember, 5-6 strawberry bushes can be planted per 1 sq.m with an interval of 25-30 cm ... How high should the pipe be in order to place 150 plants in it? And what is the distance planned for the passage between the pipes?

Marina 08.04.2017

Sergey, I quote from the article: “holes are cut in a thick pipe with a diameter of at least 7 cm every 10-15 cm, in three rows with an interval of 8-10 cm.” On the pipe vertically fit 3 rows in a checkerboard pattern. We divide 150 seedlings into 3 rows, we get 50 pcs of the required holes per row, multiply by the distance of 15cm between the holes, we get the total length of the pipe - 7m 50cm. It is clear that using such a length is inconvenient and expensive. It’s easier to cut it into pieces and get 4 pieces of pipe 1m 80 cm each. But, given that you have to walk the pipe into the soil, and the holes are made first, moving away from the edge of the pipe, at least 5-10cm, then you need a pipe 2m long. This will spread the strawberries evenly through the pipes. The width between the pipes is approximately 45-55 cm, depending on the given area for strawberries.

Hello. There was a problem with vertical seating, tell me, everything seemed to be installed correctly, but when they started pouring water into the pipe, everything flowed from the lower holes. What could have gone wrong and how can I fix it now?

Mari28 28.04.2017

Andrey, in order to understand the reason, you need to know the parameters of the material used: the diameter and length of the pipes, both external and internal, what material the thin pipe was wrapped in, the diameter of the holes made in the pipes. As well as the sequence of your actions. Describe in detail. Let's try to help.

Growing in pipes means drip irrigation. If you took pipes of such a large diameter (much smaller in the article), then you will have to adjust a little. Close the bottom of the inner tube with adhesive tape or some other plug. If there is no drip irrigation system, you can replace it with a plastic bottle. Fill the bottle (2 liters or more) with water, close the cap. Punch a few holes in this lid. Place the bottle cap down on the inner tube. Inspect the distances between the holes of the inner pipe, close each one after one. Also, before filling the pipe with soil, fill with a layer of drainage.

  • Until recently, strawberries were grown only in open ground. This method was considered quite laborious. In addition, a large area was required for landing. Later, sweetberry lovers invented a new unusual method - growing strawberries in PVC pipes horizontally, based on hydroponics.

    The essence of the method lies in the fact that the berry grows without soil, and the substances useful for the plant come from the water. For this, a structure is installed connected to a vessel with a liquid and a pump.

    Note! Growing onions at home in special devices with water is hydroponics.

    Advantages and disadvantages of the method

    Advantages:

    1. Mobility. PVC pipes are placed in the garden, and on the balcony, and in the greenhouse. You can transfer the structure not only before planting the plant, but also when harvesting fruits.
    2. A small amount of time spent preparing the soil and caring for strawberries.
    3. Possibility of practical spending of an empty plot.
    4. Protection from weeds and pests.
    5. Preservation of fruits from contamination due to the lack of contact with the ground. The berry does not deteriorate and has a marketable appearance.
    6. Possibility of labor automation.

    The method allows you to significantly increase the period of fruit collection.

    Disadvantages:

    • the cost of purchasing materials;
    • the need to insulate pipes for the winter;
    • difficulties in proper soil preparation.

    Obviously, the disadvantages of this technology are much less than the advantages.

    Preparing materials for planting

    For growing strawberries horizontally, it is better to use sewer pipes with a diameter of 100-150 mm. Each pipe must be sealed.

    To convert the structure into a place for growing strawberries, you will need the following tools:

    • pieces of pipes with a diameter of 2 to 5 cm;
    • device for cutting holes;
    • grinding machine;
    • plastic corners;
    • container for draining and supplying water.

    It is necessary to pay attention to the soil mixture. This can be treated and fertilized soil from the site, or prepared soil from a specialized store.

    Making a pipe structure and landing

    Step-by-step instructions for making a structure include the following steps:

    1. Holes are cut in PVC pipes, the diameter of which is somewhat smaller than the size of the containers for future seedlings so that the cups do not fall inside. The distance between the holes must be at least 15 cm.
    2. So that water can flow to the plant, a drain is installed near the central part of the structure.
    3. Plants are planted in pots or a special substrate. It can be expanded clay, coconut fiber and peat.
    4. The pump makes it possible to automate the process, the inclusion of which can be programmed for a period of time from 30 minutes to 1 hour.

    Depending on the type of building or site for future strawberries, it is determined what to build the basis for the beds from. Horizontal beds can be hung or placed on the floor.

    You can install such a structure yourself, but if you wish, you can seek help from professionals. Strawberry cultivation begins in the spring with the onset of warm days, or from mid-August to mid-September.

    Before planting, the soil is disinfected at home by calcination. You can fill the soil with boiling water. After that, they lay out the earth in pots, plant plants in them and put them in a cool place for several days.

    Slightly acidic soil is the optimal environment for strawberries. Therefore, expanded clay is soaked for some time in a solution of citric acid.

    Suitable varieties for planting

    To get a good harvest of strawberries from PVC pipes, you need to know which varieties are suitable for this method. It will be better to plant varieties that can withstand diseases, bad weather and pests. Attention should also be paid to the timing of maturation of plants.

    Only remontant varieties are suitable for planting in this way: Gigantella, Pomegranate, Nadezhda, Cinderella, Zagorye, Desnyanka, Honey.

    Attention! If the berry of this variety is known to grow large, this will hinder the supply of nutrients due to the lack of free area.

    Features of strawberry care
