How to protect your gazebo from mosquitoes. Interesting solutions to help get rid of mosquitoes on the site

The cottage is a very multifunctional place. They go there to work, relax, retire and so on. Therefore, there is no unambiguous advice on how to get rid of mosquitoes. In principle, it would be even more correct to say that this is impossible, but it is quite possible to protect yourself from these little bloodsuckers, and in different situations the methods for this are also different.

If for rooms, tents and even gazebos, complete disposal of mosquitoes is possible with a mosquito net, then on the street you will not forbid them to fly up to your food. And yet there are ways and tricks to keep all your blood to yourself.

Mosquito Repellent Ultrasound

We can safely say that this is the most modern option to protect yourself and your family from itchy bites. There are compact devices that repel insects with a sound inaudible to the human ear. Some of them are designed for one person, hung on a belt or put in a pocket and operate in a two-meter radius. Others, more expensive and larger, are able to protect an entire room from mosquitoes. The third, the most expensive, at the request of the manufacturers, will save you from the presence of bloodsuckers in an area of 50 meters and are suitable for an evening rest on the street.

Similar devices are currently manufactured by several companies. The quality of their work depends directly on the price due to the fact that the development is still new. However, it is worth noting that even the best devices do not cope with the declared efficiency.

Fumigators and liquids from mosquitoes

For indoors, for several decades now, electric fumigators and cigarette lighters with liquid have been the leader among insect control methods. They do not emit a noticeable smell and can be quite effective (with liquids doing a better job), but some people are not satisfied with the quality of their work.

In this case, the plate, which must be inserted into the fumigator, is simply set on fire and extinguished after a few seconds, and the room is fumigated with acrid smoke. At the same time, mosquitoes fall right on the fly, but there is a big risk of smoke poisoning in humans. Worst of all, it will not be possible to ventilate the room after this either - mosquitoes will fly in again.

Note! If the fumigator product seems to you not effective enough, you should not resort to aggressive methods, just change it to another one from another manufacturer, and be sure to check the expiration date.

Mosquito repellants in the country

Another popular remedy is repellant against mosquitoes and other insects. These substances are made in the form of a cream, liquid or spray and are applied to the skin. They have a rather pungent odor, but this is often less unpleasant than feeding swarms of mosquitoes with their blood.

However, you should not mistake every liquid with an unpleasant odor in the department of mosquito repellents for repellents. There is a popular story that one company on a hike was smeared from head to toe with insecticide with instructions in an unfamiliar language and returned from a hike all bitten.

Only after they translated the method of application, and it turned out that the liquid had to be poured nearby so that mosquitoes flew at it and did not touch people.
The disadvantage of repellents is a rather high risk of causing allergies or respiratory problems.

Traps for mosquitoes

A good way to get rid of flying bloodsuckers is to set traps for them. On the street or in the gazebo, they can reduce the number of insects, and indoors and completely get rid of them. Like a liquid that people mistook for a repellent, the trap draws the attention of mosquitoes to itself, and once flown in, the insect has almost no chance of getting out.

Traps can be made by hand. To do this, take a plastic bottle and cut off the top from it. The lid can be thrown away. You can simply put a piece of banana in a bottle or pour half a glass of warm water, pour 1-2 tablespoons of sugar there and add 1-2 grams of yeast. After that, the upper part of the bottle is turned upside down and inserted into the bottle - the trap is ready.

You can also purchase ready-made devices powered by electricity. They work by attracting insects to the light of ultraviolet lamps. However, there is much less positive feedback about the effectiveness of purchased electric UV traps for mosquitoes than about the work of home-made ones.

Coils from mosquitoes in the country

There is another proven way to get rid of insects on the street - these are spirals. They are quite inexpensive, sold in packs of several pieces. The disadvantage of this tool is that it cannot be used indoors and in closed spaces.

The spiral is installed at a distance of 1.5-2 meters from the person and is set on fire for 10-15 seconds. After the flame must be extinguished, and the product will begin to actively smolder, releasing acrid smoke. It is absolutely impossible to inhale it and be in close proximity to the spiral if you do not want to earn problems with the lungs. However, when properly used, mosquito coils do not cause any harm to your health, coping with the task of repelling insects by 5+.

Folk methods from mosquitoes

Almost all the tools described above are modern. However, people have fought biting insects before, and they did it mainly with the help of plants. Moreover, you won’t have to look for any rare flowers for this: mosquitoes do not like mint, tansy, tomato tops, cloves and wormwood.
Other folk methods of fighting mosquitoes in the country are described in the video on the next tab.

How to get rid of mosquitoes in the area

There is hardly a person who would not want to get rid of mosquitoes on the site. Few people like the constant bites of these small annoying insects, but they don’t want to destroy the cozy atmosphere created, for example, in the gazebo or on the veranda, with the help of spirals or other simple devices. Fortunately, today there are many original and interesting ways that will disarm mosquitoes and preserve (and maybe improve) the interior.

Simple rustic ideas

Stylish outdoor lamp, made from cheap improvised materials, is a typical solution for a simple, average village house. A stick from a broom or brush, a simple glass vase and a few other simple details - a stand for scented candles that repel mosquitoes is ready!

Homemade street lamp

Another option may be less effective, but more practical. It is easy to equip an ordinary street lamp with a candle against insects. It can be hung in a gazebo, put on a table, fixed on handrails - a universal assistant in the fight against mosquitoes.

Candles-buckets

If the backyard is not a luxurious patio, but a simple rustic courtyard, you can complement its appearance with small buckets, inside of which there are candles or mosquito coils. They are available in a variety of colors and look great, for example, along a garden path or next to a well.

Modern solutions

Unusual mosquito protection

Original miniature sculptures are a great way not only to protect yourself from unwanted insects, but also to create a festive mood. Such candles are produced in various forms: from thin glass torches to solid metal objects. They are made of weather-resistant materials, so that all candles will last for many years to come.

Thermistor lamp

These candles contain allerethrin, a synthetic natural insecticide found in chrysanthemums. It allows you to get rid of 98% of mosquitoes, black and sand flies. There is nothing to worry about with such a candle, and besides, it is not a spray, and it does not use harmful chemicals.

Unusual aesthetic lamp

This desktop solution has a more modern and airy look. It uses an effective ingredient of 100% natural vegetable oils and has a fan that allows you to expand the coverage area to an impressive 90 square meters.

Soy candle in ivory cauldron

There are many electronic mosquito repellents on the market, but finding one that looks nice can be difficult. But if you try, you can find interesting solutions. For example, ceramic soy candles are handmade from soy wax using cotton wicks placed in drop-glazed ceramic pots. After the candle is completely burnt out, they can be used as an interior element in the house or in the garden.

Wine bottle candlesticks

Perhaps this solution is more suitable for romantic evenings in nature. All you need to create the composition is an empty wine bottle, some cotton gauze and a candle. It's so easy to turn old containers into pretty mosquito lights.

There are a great many ideas. You can approach the solution of the problem with mosquitoes on the site in the most unusual ways. The main thing is that insatiable insects do not interfere with enjoying nature.

In the warm season, every summer resident begins to think about how to get rid of mosquitoes in their summer cottage. After all, there is a lot of work in the garden and garden in spring and summer, and annoying insects can turn outdoor living into a real hell.

There are different methods, and, most likely, they will have to be used in combination, treating the site with different means in order to achieve the desired effect.

How to protect yourself and your home from insects

To fight mosquitoes, you need to study their habits. This small insect causes a lot of inconvenience. Plus, it can be dangerous. It is generally accepted that only tropical insects are dangerous, but prosaic domestic mosquitoes can also be carriers of serious infections.

Interestingly, only females are dangerous to humans - they bite.

They need this for the normal reproduction of offspring, since in their very body protein and iron are practically not produced. And males at the same time can get their livelihood in thick grass. In order for the fight against annoying mosquitoes in the summer cottage to be successful, you need to approach it comprehensively.

In particular, you need to protect both the site itself and the house. In the latter case, it is recommended to put protective nets on the windows. Depending on the design of the gazebo, it is worth closing it with a mesh. Moreover, the device can be soaked with eucalyptus or lavender, clove or juniper oil - mosquitoes equally do not like all these smells.

The mesh is usually called barrier protection, and it is quite effective, but only as a barrier to the penetration of these insects into the house.

At the same time, the question of how to deal with bloodsuckers on the site itself remains open. After all, Velcro and aroma lamps with essential oils are useless in street conditions.

Popular tools such as electric repellers are also useless in the open.

Firstly, because not all models have a large radius of action. Secondly, for their operation it is necessary to connect to the electrical network, which is also not always possible on the site itself. And when turned off, this repeller becomes completely useless.

So, if the owners want to know how to get rid of mosquitoes in the country, they should understand the main types of remedies against them. The most common option is the use of fumigants. They, in turn, are divided into two large groups.

These are pyrotechnic and electric models.

With the latter, everything is relatively clear. These are classic appliances that are in almost every home today. Such a mosquito repellent in the country is a device whose design provides for a heating platinum. When the device is connected to the network, the plate heats up, and this contributes to the evaporation of the insecticide from its surface.

As a rule, they are used indoors.

But they can also come in handy on the terrace or in the gazebo, provided that there is a source of energy there. Much more often the fight against mosquitoes in the country is carried out with the help of pyrotechnic fumigants. They come in several types, but the most popular option is a spiral that needs to be set on fire. The material from which it is made does not burn, but smolders. At the same time, smoke is released, which not only destroys insects, but simply repels them.

Unfortunately, such remedies do not give a sufficiently long-term effect. If there is a strong wind on the street that day, then such a fumigant will be practically useless.

Additionally

Such traps lure mosquitoes and then kill them with an insecticide or other method.

It is desirable to place these devices in some remote corner of the garden so that insects flock there.

As for electronic repellers, their effectiveness seems to be doubtful. Most often we are talking about ultrasonic devices.

It is believed that they emit waves of a certain frequency, which insects perceive as a signal of danger.

In fact, there is no confirmed evidence that mosquitoes really hear such a sound, and even react to it accordingly.
All these tools, with which the mosquito site is treated, are popular mainly due to the ease of use.

However, all this is synthetics, which, although it is positioned as harmless to humans and animals, can actually cause allergies. In addition, the insecticide is able to get on vegetables and fruits, so the owners prefer natural methods of protection.

A natural insecticide is pyrethrum.

It is made from several types of chamomile (for example, Caucasian or Dalmatian). Growing these plants in the area already helps to reduce the number of insects in the area. Dry stems and leaves of this plant are crushed into powder and scattered on the terrace or summer kitchen. Directly under the windows you can put pots with small tomato bushes.

However, you can independently make not only an insecticide, but also the trap itself. To do this, you need an old plastic bottle, not very large (a liter will do). About a quarter of this bottle, that is, the neck and a noticeable part of the top, is cut off. A mixture of water and sugar is poured into this bottle, after mixing thoroughly.

Then another 2-3 g of yeast is added to it, they do not need to be stirred. Then this bottle is turned over and placed on the surface with the neck down - the mosquitoes themselves will strive to crawl into the container, but they will not be able to get out.

Of course, you can also purchase sticky traps - in the form of a serpentine.

They are easy to hang next to the summer kitchen or at the entrance to the terrace. As an independent way of fighting, they are useless. But in combination with something else, they can work.

How to get rid of mosquitoes with natural remedies

The owners of dachas, thinking about how to get rid of mosquitoes on the site, tend to get by with only natural methods.

Such measures include the use of plants that repel insects.

There are certain rules regarding plants that are planted as protection against insects.

Those cultures that have a pleasant smell are usually planted in containers or pots, and then they are placed around the resting place - these are pergolas, arbors, terraces. Such plants in pots should be placed at all entrances to the house. An important property of such crops is that they can be used both as spices and as a decorative material for a bouquet, and they also exude phytoncides that are beneficial to health and strengthen the immune system.

One such plant is noble basil, an annual plant most commonly used as a spice.

In addition, it repels mosquitoes and attracts butterflies. Basil grows well in both full sun and partial shade.

The lavender works great. It is quite widespread in warm regions. Essential oil is made from lavender, the quality of which is carefully checked before use.

Properly collected and dried lavender can be used to repel bloodsuckers.

You can use lemongrass with its pretty panicles. This spice is widely used in cooking. It is often grown closer to home. To make the smell stronger, you should run your fingers over the grass.

Well protect against mosquitoes almost any marigold.

Their popular variety is Mexican mint. In salads, they are often used instead of tarragon (tarragon), and this fact alone speaks of what kind of smell they have.

Similar properties are demonstrated by pennyroyal, a perennial crop that can reach a height of 30 cm, although ground cover varieties are also found.

It is a plant with a strong smell that can be used in cooking.

Peppermint also helps against mosquitoes. Growing it on your site is useful in any case, since the herb can be added to both hot and cold tea. People like mint, but insects try to avoid it. This also applies to such a plant as a pitcher (the second name is nepenthes).

Unlike previous perennials, the pitcher is grown in hanging planters, but not in beds. But the pots can be placed on the terrace or in the gazebo.

Another plant that protects against insects is ash eucalyptus. But this is not a grass, but a tree that can reach an average height of 6 m, so that it is not possible to grow it in every area.

Lemon verbena looks like a small tree (the second name is trifoliate aloysia).

You can breed this perennial plant yourself or contact a specialist. Lemon verbena prefers open sunny areas. It is often used in aromatic tea blends, which periodically come back into fashion among consumers.

fragrant perennials

Some dacha owners are ready to grow on their plot even those herbs that would otherwise be considered weeds to protect against mosquitoes. In particular, it is such a traditional remedy as tansy, a perennial that grows well in sunny areas and attracts butterflies to the garden.

In addition, wormwood can be planted around the perimeter of the site.

This is a perennial plant with a delicate bitter aroma. At the same time, it is a nectar-bearing plant that attracts butterflies and bees. Wormwood repels almost all insects, including ticks and ants. There are other types of wormwood, and they all have a similar effect.

But rosemary is not a weed, but a popular spice, although such a perennial shrub does not look very attractive. There are also ground cover varieties. This plant loves open sunny areas. Rosemary, with its fragrant leaves, is used in cooking; it also helps attract butterflies to the garden. This is a drought-resistant plant, there is no special fuss with it.

Kotovnik is not the most attractive plant, but it has many useful properties, mainly related to repelling insects.

The smell of catnip is quite strong, and many people find it not very pleasant. To use it not only in the warm season, but also in the fall, you need to take care of harvesting its branched roots.

Preventive measures

In order to protect yourself from insects in the country, you need to follow certain rules. First, all faucets in the garden should be checked for leaks and repaired. Such water sources attract insects. Secondly, if there are bird drinkers in the garden, then they need to change the water regularly. The fact is that it is in such a stagnant liquid that mosquitoes lay their eggs.

For the same reason, once a week you need to drain the water from the saucers that stand under the flower pots on the windowsill.

Thirdly, all empty containers in the garden must be kept turned upside down so that moisture does not collect and stagnate there.

If all of the above methods, including the preventive measures taken, were not effective enough, then the destruction of mosquitoes on the site should be entrusted to a specialized company. Company employees use insecticides that are safe for humans and pets to control insects. These funds are sprayed using the cold mist method, which allows you to defeat mosquitoes, while using up very little poisonous substance, especially given the coverage of a large area.

Among the measures that professionals use is the treatment of the territory with carbon dioxide. In addition, artificial reservoirs are also often treated with an insecticide or sprayed with similar preparations, even potential locations for these insects.

There is no escape from them. They fly and fly... They itch and itch with nasty zzzzzzzzzzzzz... They bite and bite...

So tired that I decided to dedicate an entire post to them.

First, I propose to see how these vampires drink blood. Pretty little, but you need to know. “Song from this movie” also interferes a little, but does not overshadow the essence of the process ...

And now - a mosquito bite in HD quality, macro photography. Brrr... I never would have thought it would happen like this.

I didn’t find a word for this, they didn’t come up with such an emoticon - something between “tin” and “go crazy, what a nightmare”

Folk methods of scaring away and intimidating mosquitoes

After what he saw, the concept of "I love the world" gave another crack. Therefore, I remembered all those folk methods of scaring away these bloodsuckers that I had ever used or heard about. About chemical ones later, if nothing from the people helps.

So, what do we need to do so that mosquitoes do not get to us:

  • Lay out near the windows and hang bouquets over the door fresh tansy or wormwood. After drying, change (they are afraid)
  • Spread around the room finely chopped bird cherry leaves
  • Spray in the room valerian
  • Juice repels mosquitoes basilica, thyme and smell fresh cloves
  • Before going to bed, you can drip a tiny drop at the head of the bed. camphor oil
  • Draw multiple dots anise, cedar, clove or eucalyptus oil on exposed parts of the body.
  • Or drop a drop of the above oils on a light bulb and then turn on the light. Fumigator, however!
  • Good for scaring off
  • They say that mosquitoes do not like flowering pelargonium and rosemary
  • It is advised to put a fresh one on the window in the country house tops of tomatoes, flowers and leaves black elderberry or lavender, leaves mint, catnip lemon, medicinal lemon balm. And a pleasant aroma in the house, and mosquitoes should fly to the neighbors)
  • Dilute in a small amount of water vanillin, before going outside, wipe your legs and arms (I generally just “wash” all open parts of the body with my hands) Helps!
  • "perfume" cologne "Gozdika". All childhood passed hand in hand with this smell - it probably helped if everyone splashed it;)
  • You can do it yourself make lotion: clove oil - 1 part, cologne - 5 parts, alcohol - 25 parts
  • Make a decoction of wheatgrass roots(boil a handful of chopped roots in 1.5 liters of water) and treat their face and hands (here it is - another property of weeds !!!)
  • Rub the exposed parts of the body with dioecious juice nettle
  • Wipe exposed parts of the body lard(Introduced… okay))
  • If you have to sit by the lake (river, estuary) for fishing, then a good remedy is to apply birch tar war paint on the face, neck and hands. And be sure to wear a T-shirt made of bulky yarn on the body, and on top - a loose shirt with a high collar and tightly buttoned cuffs.
  • Old Ural way: dry horse manure set fire to a tin can, let it flare up and extinguish. Fumigate country rooms with smoldering smoke, close doors and windows tightly, and ventilate after 10-15 minutes. For three days, the hungriest mosquito will not fly into a smoky room! Do not be afraid, there is no special smell from manure either, but if something is felt, then remember Maurice Gerald and Louise Poindexter)) Ndaaaa ... for the youth I’ll clarify: these are the heroes of Mine Reed’s novel “The Headless Horseman” ... Maurice was a mustanger, hence the suggestion that the smell of horse manure did not interfere with the most romantic feelings ... Uff ... whoever needs it will understand ...
  • You can throw some plants into the fire in the country chamomile mosquitoes don't like it either
  • Also repels mosquitoes smoke from the cones(pine and spruce) and needles juniper. (By the way, you need to try thuja twigs! Who will try - tell me, how is the result ???)
  • Southerners are advised to set fire willow twig with leaves or lavender shoots
  • I also heard that mosquitoes are afraid of smoke from burning leaves. black elderberry
But mosquitoes like the fresh smell of pine and spruce, so do not hide from them in the forest!

Mosquito trap

As I understand it, everything read can be safely forgotten, because that mosquito trap, which we can make in 10-15 minutes, will reliably protect us from night vampires without any additional conditions :)

We look, we delve into, we rejoice at the people's ingenuity and the remarkable mind of our compatriots!

And for those who still did not have time to read and remember everything while watching the video, I duplicate it with quietly standing letters.

How to make a mosquito trap: instruction diagram

The shelf life of the trap is up to 2 weeks. It can be used both indoors and outdoors.

This is how the anti-mosquito monologue turned out. By all the rules of dramaturgy - from a terrible beginning to a happy ending))

I would be grateful for the replenishment of the piggy bank of folk useful "anti-mosquito" tips. For this will mean that mosquitoes are more and more afraid of herbs, oils, smokes and colognes ...

May their proboscises bend and their itching wings weaken!
Let them have only boys!

If you have been fighting mosquitoes for a long time and stubbornly during your summer holidays, then you probably imagine how much easier life can be for you mosquito repellers from Thermacell. They are easy to use and do not cause any harm to human health or the environment. One of the most interesting models from our company is a repeller with a built-in lamp, which in its appearance resembles a beautiful lantern ( Outdoor MR 9L6-00). Operating on a surface of 4.5x4.5 meters, this device will reliably protect you and your loved ones from insects. Try to use it if mosquito repellent You were not satisfied or worked too slowly - and compare the results. In the meantime, we will imagine in which part of your house it is better to place the repeller so that it works as efficiently as possible.

Veranda of a country house

Repeller lantern- this is a device that will look most advantageous in your country house, in a village house or cottage. You can even hang it near the door, instead of a regular lantern - you won't feel much difference. A lantern, of course, will enliven the design of your city apartment a little, if there is a place for a repeller in it. In the city, however, insects annoy us less than in the country, so the device is most likely to come in handy there. In addition, in the apartment you will have to look for a separate table or a special place for the lantern - do not put it on the table with business papers and business card holder Wenger . But on the veranda of a country house, this mosquito repeller will look very beautiful - it will light up the room and drive away mosquitoes. Even if your house does not have a veranda or extension, then there is probably a gazebo or a separate table in the summer cottage - there is where to relax in the evening after working with the garden garden. You can and put it next to this place to escape the attention of insects. And if you like to gather guests or arrange fun family tea parties, then the value of this device for your family increases several times - everyone will be happy and protected from mosquitoes.

Bedroom

However, there is one more place in your house that you would like to make inaccessible to insects once and for all. This is, of course, the bedroom. Often we wake up in the middle of the night due to the fact that mosquitoes or other midges have decided to take advantage of the darkness and have a bite to eat ... us. You can get rid of this unpleasant awakening with the help of a lamp repeller. And since the light from this device is very strong, then, by turning on the flashlight, you can also do your usual things: clean up, read a book, work at a computer, etc. When you want to go to bed, it will be enough just to turn off the lamp so that the bright light does not interfere with your rest.

Living room / large room

The room in the house where you and your family and close friends most often gather. Such a room, of course, needs to be furnished properly. I would like to put the best furniture there, bookcases, hang beautiful paintings and photo frames, as well as buy and put a leather purse on the table - so that all guests know about the high social status of the owners of the house. Your whole family usually gathers in this room to relax, watch TV or play board games. It would be a real shame if this holiday was interrupted by an insect invasion, wouldn't it? Mosquito Repeller as lantern will save your family vacation and give you the opportunity to relax properly. You can even open the windows in the room if it's too hot - apart from your friends, no one else will fly in to visit you.

…and other premises

In fact, you can place the lamp repeller anywhere in your home - the main thing is that you feel comfortable! Everything else depends on your imagination. The kitchen is not the best place for a repeller, but if insects interfere with your cooking, then it is better to put the device there. The bathroom is too humid, but you can still experiment with the toilet. If you have a separate dining room, then you can place a lantern there - it will look very nice. And if you still haven’t decided where it’s better to put a mosquito repeller, then just take it with you to any room in your house - at the same time check how the lantern works and how well it illuminates the room.
