    • Softened butter and margarine mix easily with the rest of the ingredients
    • If you are short on time, use the microwave: microwave the butter for 10 seconds to soften it.
    • When replacing butter with margarine, remember that margarine contains 80% vegetable oil or even more.
  • Mix the butter and vegetable oil with a mixer until smooth, if the recipe indicates that you need to add both butter and vegetable oil.

    • Even if the recipe only uses butter or vegetable oil, still use a mixer. Then there will be no lumps left and the mass will be homogeneous.
  • Add sugar, baking powder and salt. Using a mixer, add sugar, salt and baking powder or soda to the butter. These ingredients must be thoroughly mixed with the oil.

    • Beat until the mixture becomes smooth and light in color.
    • During the beating process, air bubbles are formed in the dough, so the cookies will be airy. Don't overdo it at this stage of cooking.
  • Add eggs and vanilla extract. Using a mixer, add the eggs into the dough. Set the mixer to medium speed. Add vanilla extract immediately afterwards or along with the eggs.

    • Beat until the eggs and vanilla are completely combined with the remaining ingredients.
    • Try to remove the eggs from the refrigerator in advance, 30 minutes before cooking. Then the eggs will mix more easily with the rest of the ingredients, and the cookies will be airy.
  • Now add flour. Mix the dough with a mixer as long as possible. Once you feel that the mixer is already working at its maximum capacity, use a wooden spoon to incorporate the remaining flour.

    • Mixers-combines can mix the dough well, but hand mixers are not suitable for this. So to prevent your hand mixer from burning, use a spoon.
    • Add any pieces of chocolate, nuts or other ingredients after the flour.
