Compressed textures for weak PCs for WoT. Compress textures - Raise your FPS to the skies Mod texture compression

Returns Textures 2.0 (Build 0056)

Installation:

Replace RET2_Textures_01.vdf, RET2_Textures_02.vdf files with those in .7z archives. Each archive is downloaded separately.
Note: Back up these files so you don't blame me later on that you didn't like it and you'll have to reinstall the game.

Peculiarities:

The peculiarity of this collection is that it replaces the original textures of the Return 2.0 (build 0056) with their compressed counterparts in 512 format. Some textures were not converted! Some textures have been removed and the game will use the original textures instead. You will free up 2GB of free space using this build. Remove any light texture patches you have: 512.vdf etc.
RET2_Textures_OffGreen.vdf may not work with this version of the pack. Inside my wdf pack there is an updated RET2_Textures_OffGreen.vfd that will work fine with this texture pack.

List of removed textures:

Loading screens of some locations. (the absence of which will not be particularly noticeable, instead of the inscription "loading" on a black background, there will be vanilla loading screens of locations: Khorinis, Mines, etc.).
Part of the cards. Maps will now be like the original, and not in 4k.
Some armors (for example, paladin armors - original textures will be used instead)
Some monster textures (eg orcs, trolls)

I repeat that the game will use the original textures of those files that were deleted, so some of the monsters, armor, maps will look like in the original.

This assembly is an updated version of this pack -

After listening to the feedback, I did not touch the texture of the MAIN loading screen, the moon, the sky (stars), the save texture in this build......

You need to download both of these archives.

All .vdf files were repacked in 2030, now they will not crash after the next hotfix. Just download "Pack of vdf files.rar" again.
I decided to write an approximate list of deleted textures:
This means that the following armors and monsters will have a vanilla model

More

Armor:
Peasant work clothes
Armor of the militia (2 pieces)
Paladin Armor (1 pc)
Armor OnD (2pcs)
Armor of mercenaries (2 pieces, it seems)
Armor of bandits (1-2 pcs)
Blacksmith's clothes
Alchemist's outfit (2pcs: vanilla and from the Night of the Raven)
Fire Acolyte Robes
Robe of the fire mage (2pcs)
Stonehead Loincloth (1pc)
Other armor of stoner acolytes (1-2pcs)
Robes of stoners (1pc)
Seeker's robe (1pc: seekers will be like in vanilla)
Water Mage Armor (1-2 pcs)
Armor of pirates (2-3 pcs)
Clothes of citizens (male and female: 8 pieces in total)
Water Ring Mail
Armor of the Ore Baron (Gomez bodyguard outfit in G1)
Hunter armor (leather armor)

Note: V2.0 (0056) has 6 paladin armor textures. I removed only one - vanilla, in fact, it was a retexture. I did not delete the rest, I reduced the maximum to 512.
Therefore, the game will not remove the armor that the developers made from scratch. Retextures were to be removed. In general, normal paladins (npc) will look like in vanilla G2.
New armor, for example, like Mickey's (standing near the gates to the city) could not be changed. So don't worry that this pack will do something bad to the armor.
I wrote the list from memory, I could miss something. For those who are especially picky about grammar and perfectionists, I will note that I did not try to write the exact name of the armor, the main thing is that the meaning is clear what it is about.

Monsters:
Trolls (2pcs)
Golems (4pcs)
Sheep
some orc textures (however there are a lot of orc retextures in v2.0, so it won't really catch your eye)
Meat bugs
Rats (2pcs)
orc biters
orc shamans (those in the temple of the sleeper)
Field beetle (probably)
Fight. Lizards (lizard people)
Harpies
Monitor lizards (2pcs)
Mrakoris (2-3 pcs: regular ones, from the Night of the Raven and seemingly undead-markoris)

All other monsters were not touched, as their retextures are much darker than vanilla, or simply made with high quality.

This mod can greatly compress the textures of various elements in WoT, in particular, vehicles, trees and much more. Thanks to this, you can achieve a good increase in FPS, so that it becomes comfortable to play on a weak computer with outdated characteristics.

Like many others for the game, this one is in good demand among the players. It will increase the frame rate per second by about 30%, which is pretty good. With the help of the presented mod, you will forget about the brakes in the tank simulator and will be able to play even on an old laptop.

Compressed textures for weak PC download

If for some reason you do not have enough FPS growth after installing this modification, we also recommend using the WoT Tweaker utility, which offers to disable various effects. This will increase the frame rate when firefighting with more tanks. The program is available in a modpack from Jove and other collections.

How to install compressed textures:

1. Download the archive and unpack it to the root of the local disk (for example, to D:/, C:/);
2. Run the cmd file with the necessary textures or select all;
3. Wait for the installation process to complete;
4. Go to the WoT_xx% folder and copy all files and folders from it to / WoT/res/packages/;
5. Open the file autoinstall_.

Before after:
Textures from folders were compressed by 50%:

content - buildings and miscellaneous objects
maps\landscape - surface textures
spaces - mini-maps
speedtree - trees and bushes
vehicles - equipment and harp

Before:
After:
On the surface, compression is almost not noticeable.
Up close on objects, the compression is noticeably stronger.
Objects in the distance look even better on compressed ones.
Compression is clearly visible on a highly approximate technique.
But already at some distance, compressed textures look better.

To give textures saturation and contrast, I recommend using the FXAA utility, with it you can achieve the same effect as with the textures where I changed the color.
Textures take up 757 MB instead of ~2.3 GB in the original.
Attention: The grass is not pinched, I recommend turning it off.

1.5.0.4
There were no new or redesigned textures in 1.5.0.4, the developers only removed about 600 textures, probably duplicates and unused ones.
But they still packed the resources into *.pkg archives. Therefore, I didn’t recompress anything new, you can install textures from 1.5.0.4b, but you need to install it cleverly!
Textures can't just be put in the new mods folder res_mods\1.5.0.4\ because map loading times increase, FPS drops in most cases, and in the case of 25%, unpleasant graininess appears, as if there is a dot (bicubic) texture filtering in the settings.
It is not known why this happens, but the fact is, so to speak, something is not working right.
What to do?… The answer is simple, still replace native textures with compressed ones, but they are now packaged in *.pkg archives, so as I said, they will have to be installed cleverly.

BEFORE INSTALLING, ALWAYS MAKE A BACKUP OF THE GAME ARCHIVES!

Instructions for automatically installing textures in 1.5.0.4:

I strongly recommend installing on a new-clean client installed from a new distribution, otherwise I can’t guarantee performance!
Download the archive with textures, and unpack it into the game client, into the folder World_of_Tanks\res\packages\
Download the magic batch file (the file is attached below), and also unpack it into World_of_Tanks\res\packages\
As a result, in addition to *.pkg game packs, you should have a res folder with the desired set of textures in your packages folder,
the file AHuMex_poVitter_autoinstall_1.5.0.4_only.bat and 7za.exe is the archiver file.
Check what you have on the disk, there is as much free space as the res folder weighs!
Now we are ready to add textures to game packs, run the bat file.
Batnichek first changes the folder and file structures in the res folder, preparing them to be added to game packs,
then he puts the prepared textures into *.pkg files, and when he finishes, he erases the res folder.
Everything, the textures are installed. Batnichek and 7za.exe can also be deleted.
Many thanks for the batch file to comrade poVitter 99% he wrote.
Also thanks to term_test, desudesudesu, and HOBOE4YDO for the suggested setup methods.

Information about the latest update:

Updated 20.03.2018:
  • adapted for 1.0;

Compressed textures are one of the most effective methods for boosting frame rates when playing games on slower PCs.

Why do we need compressed textures for WoT?

It's very simple - the textures in the World of Tanks use the resources of the video card, if the amount of textures on the map exceeds the available memory, the game starts to slow down, which greatly affects the effectiveness of battles. But after installing textures compressed to 12%, not so many resources are required, which leads to an increase in FPS in the game.

The main drawback is a significant deterioration in the visual side of the game, the environment and tanks become “soapy”, but what can you do for the sake of optimization, right? Let the game look worse, but the win rate will grow, because the brakes that make it very difficult to aim will disappear.

You can also download special mods that improve the game interface, but made with an eye to optimization - this is .

In addition to compressed textures, you can use other methods to increase FPS, for example, download, which disables heavy visual effects like smoke and fire. Together with the textures, this will give a great effect and it will be possible to play comfortably even on weak computers. In addition, the WoT settings also allow for greater optimization, pay special attention to the “3D Render Resolution”.

Installation

  • First go to World_of_Tanks\res and make a backup of the packages folder so you can bring back the old textures if you don't like the new one.
  • Download the archive below and extract its contents to World_of_Tanks\res\packages.
  • Then we run the autoinstall_.bat file, after opening which a window will appear with the process of repacking the textures to a new quality. After closing the window, the installer's work is completed and you can enter the game.
In this article, I will teach you how to compress texts and thereby raise your FPS Significantly))

As we know that not everyone has "TOP IRON" or even an insufficiently powerful PC, laptop!
If you have low FPS! then you here!
I will help you achieve a significant number of frames from your weak Tetris!

Next, go to the Inspector and go here

2. Now you need to import the min-textures.nip file you downloaded. To do this, click on the icon shown below. It is very important that _GLOBAL_DRIVER_PROFILE (the base profile) is selected before importing the profile

3. After you have imported the profile, Click the "Apply Changes" button

Now you can launch CS GO and test)

To restore textures. Just go to your NVIDIA driver settings and click the "Repair" button.

Note:Since we just changed the settings in the NVIDIA driver, I don't think tournaments or competitions can or should consider this cheating or game hacking. This is only done in order to get simplicity and less distraction in order to focus on important aspects of the game.

FOR ATI VIDEO CARDS=============
