At the beginning, the player will need to create a character, then he will appear in a chamber with a statue of the goddess of love Mara. To select an alternative start, you need to click on the statue, and then go to bed.

In order to start going through the main storyline, you need to come to Helgen, and after meeting with Alduin, head to Whiterun, and then everything is standard.

The Alternative Start mod allows you to skip the initial tutorial and gives you the opportunity to start a completely different life in the world of Skyrim.

How to start

After you have installed the alternative start modification for the Skyrim game, you can try it out in practice. To do this, create a new character. At the very beginning, no changes will be noticeable. After the "Persian" is created, the fun begins.

The game gives you the opportunity to choose the start for the race. Depending on which path is chosen, your game will develop. Thus, you can get to know Skyrim better and feel like not only a defender of the fairy-tale world, but also a simple resident of one of the cities. Spells and things in this case are not added, separate additions are made for them.

What about the main chain? You shouldn't worry about her. After you choose an alternative start, the game will wait patiently until you decide to proceed with the main quests on your own. Therefore, if you are not particularly eager to fight Alduin again, just do not start the chain.

If you are tired of playing according to an alternative scenario, you can again try yourself as a great warrior. To do this, talk with the inhabitants of any cities about the hostilities that took place near Helgen. After some time, your character will see Alduin. After that, you can warn the inhabitants of Riverwood about the danger, or go in search of Hadvar or Ralof. They are both in the cave you exited when you started the game according to the standard scenario. Since the player wanted to meet both, the game is set up so that both men lie wounded in a cave. In addition, you can choose which of them to help by giving a healing potion. You can leave them both to die if you like. In this case, you will have to stomp alone in Riverwood. Not so long ago, "Alternative Start" worked only on English versions. But with the advent of Steam, the mod became available for Skyrim in Russian. It, like all developing computer toys, is regularly updated.

Unfortunately, the Russian version of the mod has a number of problems and bugs. They are being worked on, but it is impossible to eliminate everything at once. So, for example, if you start a game in which you initially already have a house, you will not be offered to immediately become a thane in the city. Bandit

The game starts in a random place. You are a member of a band of robbers and have a bounty of 500 gold. You have the standard bandit outfit.

Guild member

You spawn near the selected guild's recruiting site. The Bards Guild is not available for selection.

Soldier

You start the game as a soldier of one of two factions to choose from - the Imperial Legion or the Stormcloaks.

Hunter in the forest

You are a hunter who pitched a tent near Helgen. You can return to the camp at any time, the bags in it are safe for storing things.

Shipwreck

The game begins with a catastrophe - the ship you were on ran into an iceberg. We urgently need to get off the ship and try to find the shore.

Vampire

You spawn at Mary's Eye Lake. You have the fourth stage of vampirism, so it is better to quench your thirst before appearing in public.

Please note that due to the complex specifics of the plugin, it should be as low as possible in the list of loaded mods. The author strongly recommends using the BOSS utility to sort your mods. This utility is now fully compatible with Skyrim's new mod load order system.

HOW TO START THE MAIN QUEST:
For most starts, a message about the quest "Live a different life" will appear. You won't have active quests telling you where to go. When you're ready to go through the main quest, talk to the tavern owner and ask him about the rumors. You will receive a message about Helgen and be told to go there. You can also go to Helgen on your own.

The main quest will also start if you join one of the sides in the civil war and complete two missions for the chosen side, after which you will be sent to Whiterun. As soon as you arrive there, the gate will be closed. If you bribe or convince the guards, the next guard you meet will tell you about the dragon's attack on Helgen. If you ask him, he will send you to Helgen.

If you somehow manage to avoid all the guards and get to Dragon's Reach without any news of Helgen, the main quest will start automatically upon entering the main hall. This is a precaution so as not to "break" your game and walkthrough.

COMPATIBILITY:

  • Tested and working with Open Cities Skyrim.
  • Incompatible with any mod that removes the "immortal" flag from any NPC in Helgen.
  • Song of Ice and Skyrim, regardless of load order, hangs the game when loading a prison cell.
  • Descent Into Madness crashes the game when loading the jail cell regardless of load order.
  • The Oblivion Racial Bonuses - the module from Occupy Skyrim is not compatible, as the OCS OSR.esp modifies the MQ101 quest.
  • Sellswords is not compatible as it changes the MQ101 quest
  • The Forsworn Legacy - Use "Savegame Version" and delete Data\Scripts\QF_MQ101_0003372B.pex after installation. DO NOT USE the "new game" VERSION - it won't work!
  • Helgen Reborn - from version 105.3 is fully compatible
  • Return to Helgen (by Giskard) - partially compatible. If you want to use them together, you must run the Helgen events BEFORE you send them to Solitude. If you go to Solitude before Helgen, it will break the chain of events and the main quest will not start, as well as stop the civil war.
  • Morskom Estate - Fully compatible with Morskom 1.3.
  • Shlongs of Skyrim - turn on this mod only after riding a wagon
  • Become High King of Skyrim - edits MQ101, but it's a "dirty" edit. Either clean the mod with TES5Edit or load it BEFORE Live Another Life, otherwise the main menu may freeze.
  • Better Vampires - Should be compatible without any problems
  • Pirates of the Pacific - There have been reports of the player spawning outside of the map
  • Buy_Whiterun3 - The optional "New Start" is completely incompatible. Just don't install the optional file.
  • Requiem - conflicts, but can work together if higher in the load list.
  • Mods that modify the abandoned prison (cell 00021594) need to be patched as they have been changed to meshes
