The height of the ceiling of the terrace at the house. Summer terrace to the house - how to design a building quickly and easily

Each owner of a private household thinks about adding a veranda to his house. The entrance door to the dwelling, equipped with a canopy or visor, looks uninteresting. Having built a veranda, you can decorate it with curtains, hang flower pots or decorate it in the style you like. Being in such a building, it is pleasant to sit with a cup of tea, not being afraid of hot sunshine or drizzling rain. The sunset will become more beautiful if you watch it from a convenient place. All this will create additional comfort.

The need for a veranda. Functions, advantages and disadvantages

The construction of such a structure as a veranda is often an important condition for creating a comfortable stay and organizing functional areas in it. Structures are open and closed. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. The advantages include the following points:

  • the construction of an open-type structure is not particularly difficult and does not require additional costs for the installation of windows and doors.
  • for these structures there is no need to lay a deep foundation.
  • in a closed veranda, you can place a winter garden that is not afraid of frost, or organize a recreation area where you can be at any time of the year.

Speaking about the disadvantages of types of verandas, it should be noted that:

  • closed-type verandas, as a rule, are insulated, heating is installed in them, which entails energy consumption and requires additional construction funds.
  • furniture and other interior items on open verandas are quickly covered with dust or damp, so they must be made of moisture-resistant materials.
  • an open veranda will not shelter from strong winds or low air temperatures.

The need for this extension is determined by the following criteria:

  1. First of all, it increases the useful area of a residential building, especially if it is very small.
  2. Arranging a stove or a summer kitchen in it during the warm months of the year is more practical than inside a home. Additional heat and vapors are not retained, which makes the cooking process more comfortable.
  3. The location of the dining room in it will move vacationers from the stuffy rooms of the house to fresh air.
  4. The veranda, with appropriate design, will become an elegant architectural addition and give the house a beautiful look.
  5. The glazed structure will become an intermediate room between the house and the street. This will keep you warm during the cold season.

The functionality of this structure, depending on the type of building, is as follows:

  • due to its design, the veranda protects the house from various atmospheric phenomena;
  • the existing fences of the veranda will prevent the direct entry of debris into the premises of the dwelling;
  • closed-type veranda designs allow for the placement of a large number of plants and even trees in them in winter;
  • the sliding frame of this extension allows you to adjust the areas of shading and shelter from the rain;
  • the extension makes it possible to be in the fresh air even in adverse weather conditions.

Design gallery of possible options

This option will serve as a dining room and kitchen at the same time The fireplace in the veranda will create a special atmosphere Adjustable roof allows you to stay in the shade all day long Thanks to a convenient sliding system, this design will turn into an open veranda It won't get cold here even during the cold months Two verandas are attached to the residential building: glazed and without a roof The annex serves as an intermediate zone between housing and the street. Even in cold weather, this design will warm up with the sun's rays. Tall plants in such a structure will be comfortable

How to attach a veranda to the house: preparation

Before proceeding with the construction of the frame of the veranda, you need to decide on the type of future building. Before starting construction work, it is necessary to choose a place for its location, make the necessary measurements, prepare materials and install one of the suitable foundations. In order to accurately calculate the required amount of materials and the area of occupied land for this extension, it should be carefully designed and drawn up.

Suitable foundation types

If you install a log foundation, you should pay special attention to the quality of the wood. For supports, oak and larch species are suitable, which were previously treated with a bituminous mixture or burned. For these purposes, logs with a diameter of at least 25 cm are used. The method of installing these supports is similar to the construction of a columnar foundation: the bottom of the pits is covered with sand and tamped, after which the logs are placed there. For better stability, concrete is poured onto a layer of sand or a wooden cross is installed.

To install a strip base, you will need a lot of concrete and a reinforcing cage. This foundation is solid walls hidden in the ground. It is designed for heavier buildings. The lower part of this base has an extension, which creates additional stability for the entire building. In cases of unstable or loose soil, the strip foundation can be increased. When installing this base, you need to leave holes for summing up the necessary communications.

Tape blocks are very popular. To do this, ready-made concrete blocks are purchased, installed in a shallow (from 20 to 30 cm) trench, the bottom of which is packed with sand. In this case, the block will be deepened into the ground by 2/3 of the slab. He will simultaneously play the role of the foundation and the basis for the floor of the veranda.

The column-piled foundation is a long column. To install it, you need to dig holes with a construction drill. Their depth should be from 40 to 50 cm. The bottom of the pit is covered with a layer of crushed stone or gravel. Then a sleeve with a roofing material rolled into a pipe is inserted into it. Concrete is poured into the resulting cavity. The supporting column is built on top of the resulting base.

The screw foundation provides for the use of metal pile elements, to the ends of which blades of various sizes are welded. This type of foundation is most suitable for unstable ground. Piles are screwed into the ground using manual force or pile-drilling equipment. The strength of the base, in this case, depends on the material of manufacture and the diameter of the pipes. The screwing depth must be below the freezing point. Usually this value is from 70 to 12 cm. The installation of screw piles is convenient because they can be installed in frozen ground.

Project drawings, dimensions

As an example, an open porch with a shed roof, installed on a columnar foundation, is presented.

Materials for this design should be selected taking into account the design of the house.

This design is a square shape, 490x500 cm in size. The height to the ceiling beam is 230 cm. The roof slope is 20 °. The distance from the lower trim to the rafters adjacent to the wall of the house will be 420 cm. Since the width of the structure is more than 3 m, intermediate racks of beams with a section of 100x150 mm will be used to strengthen it. The distance between the first and second row from the wall of the house is 277 cm. From the second to the third row - 180 cm. On the front side, the racks are 166 cm apart. The distance between the longitudinal load-bearing beams should be from 80 to 110 cm. roofing material, with a total area of 24.5 m². The height of the foundation pillars, from the ground to the lower trim of the veranda frame, is 145 cm.

On the veranda with such parameters, you can place a couple of chairs with a table, and hang a garden swing.

1 - support board; 2 - longitudinal bearing bars; 3 - transverse beam; 4 - racks; 5 - foundation pillars

Material selection and calculation

The most common material in the construction of verandas is wood. It has a clear advantage over brick, metal and metal-plastic buildings. The material is easy to process, which is not typical of a metal structure. If profile pipes, channels or corners are used during the construction of the veranda, then it is convenient to mount double-glazed windows to such a frame.

A brick extension requires a deep foundation, and these are additional costs. In addition, much more time will be spent on its construction than on a wooden structure. For sheathing closed-type verandas, glass (double-glazed windows) or polycarbonate is mounted. For the roof, metal tiles, bituminous coatings, slate and polycarbonate alloys are used. However, for better sound insulation, you should pay attention to soft tiles.

For the manufacture of a frame veranda made of wood, the following materials are needed:

  1. For the bottom and top trim:
  • four beams with a section of 100x200 mm, 500 cm long;
  • ten bars with a similar section, 490 cm long.

For vertical racks you need:

  • five bars with a section of 100x200 mm, 430 cm long (racks attached to the wall of a residential building), and the same number - 285 cm each (intermediate racks);
  • six bars with a section of 100x200 mm, a length of 230 cm (front racks).
  • For longitudinal load-bearing elements (rafters), you need seven bars with a section of 100x150 mm, 540 cm long.
  • For flooring, grooved boards with a section of 100x40 mm and a length of 490 cm are required, for a total area of 24.5 m².
  • OSB boards are needed for the roof sheathing.
  • Railings require bars with a section of 100x100 mm, with a total length of 15 m.
  • For an x-shaped fence, similar bars are needed, with a total length of 40 m.
  • Concrete M-300.
  • Ruberoid or formwork boards.
  • Reinforcing bars with a diameter of 10 mm.
  • The roof requires soft tiles to cover 26.5 m².
  • waterproofing material.

Required Tools

To build an open veranda structure, you will need the following tools:

  1. Screw, bayonet and shovel.
  2. Concrete mixer.
  3. Water tank.
  4. Screwdriver.
  5. Electric jigsaw.
  6. Grinder machine.
  7. Electroplaner.
  8. Hammer.
  9. Building level.
  10. Roulette.
  11. Big square.
  12. Ladder.
  13. Cord.
  14. Pencil.

Step by step instructions: how to build a summer terrace

For the construction of a frame veranda, it is necessary to lay the foundation. When installing it, you should adhere to some construction nuances:

  • pits and trenches for the veranda should be at the same depth as the base of the house to which it is attached;
  • if the ground under construction is unstable or there is abundant groundwater in it, then a pile-screw foundation will be able to cope with this problem;
  • it is necessary to determine the ability of the soil to absorb moisture and the uniformity of the earth at the construction site.

Depending on the composition and quality of the soil, an appropriate basis for the frame is selected. In our case, this is a columnar foundation.

The base is a separate concrete pillars installed in the ground. A grillage or strapping for building walls is fixed on them.

  1. Make markings for the future veranda, using a cord and wooden pegs.

    1 - cast-off boards; 2 - cord; 3 - plumb; 4 - level

  2. Using a screw shovel, dig holes with a diameter of 40 to 50 cm, to a depth of 60 cm.
  3. Pour damp sand into the bottom of each hole. It must be compacted to make a sand cushion 20 cm thick.
  4. To prevent liquid concrete from being absorbed into the sand, a waterproofing layer must be laid. For these purposes, use roofing material.
  5. Make formwork from boards. The size of each of its walls should be 40x90 cm.
  6. Place reinforcing bars inside the formwork.
  7. Pour concrete mixture there so that its level rises 40 cm above the ground.

    Reinforcing cage will strengthen the concrete pillar

  8. To hold the walls of the formwork, use stops.
  9. Leave the concrete to set.
  10. When the base is sufficiently hardened and the pillars are formed, remove the formwork.
  11. Use a spirit level to check the vertical position of each post.

    Optimal dimensions for the base under the veranda

  12. Treat them with bituminous mastic.
  13. Tamp the soil around the posts and install a fence.
  14. Lay a waterproofing layer on the finished foundation. To do this, you need to fold the roofing material twice.
  15. From above, install the lower strapping of the structure. This requires bars with a section of 100x200 mm. They need to cut grooves for installing vertical supports.
  16. On wooden logs, install a floor made of tongue-and-groove boards, with a section of 100x40 mm.
  17. Install vertical supports from similar bars in the grooves.

    Grooves make the structure strong

  18. Long supports, with the help of anchors and self-tapping screws, attach to the wall of the house.
  19. Mount the top trim of the structure. Connections of wooden elements are similar to the bottom trim
  20. To the upper harness, on the one hand, and the wall of the house on the other, install the extension truss system. Arrange its elements in increments of 50 cm. For this, bars with a section of 100x150 mm are required.

    The structure is ready for insulation and finishing

  21. Attach the frame of the truss system to the upper trim using metal corners or plates.

    Metal connections will not be visible after finishing

  22. Install side railings.
  23. Fix waterproofing on the rafter system, on top of which fill the crate with a section of 20x40 mm, in increments of 40 cm. Attach OSB-plates to it using self-tapping screws.

    Soft tiles are easy to install and repair

  24. Now you can proceed to the installation of roofing material. Laying of soft tiles is carried out from the eaves from the center of the slope. The first row of this coating must be laid 2 cm from the edge of the eaves. Lay the tile layers with an overlap of 5 - 10 cm. Cover their joints with bituminous mastic. Fix the tiles on four sides with nails.

    There are a large number of colors and shades of soft roofing.

Finishing

The selected materials for finishing the veranda should have not only aesthetic value, but also practical. The open design is exposed to the environment. It follows from this that finishing materials must be resistant to high humidity and temperature extremes.

The most common material that meets all the requirements of open structures is wooden lining. This is an environmentally friendly coating that is ideal for wall cladding. A veranda with this finish has a pleasant woody smell. For better joining of wooden elements, their sides are equipped with grooves. To increase the service life, this finishing material is pre-treated with antifungal impregnations.

The lining is easy to install, thanks to the cutouts on the edges

MDF boards are used as finishing for the walls of the veranda. This material is more suitable for closed structures. This is due to the fact that moisture has a detrimental effect on the plates, causing them to deform and lose quality.

Inexpensive and reliable material - MDF boards

The opposite of MDF boards are PVC panels, which are resistant to moisture. This coating is easy to wash, it is fire resistant, it is made with different textures and colors. The installation of these boards is very simple.

Easy to handle and install PVC panels

An affordable and practical material for decorating verandas is siding. Its texture usually resembles stone or wood. Produced in the form of long panels of various colors and shades. The material is resistant to fire, decay, and has a long service life.

The siding is securely fastened thanks to convenient holes.

Thanks to the variety of shades, it is easy to match it to the color scheme of the buildings on your site. Vinyl siding is often used for this.

To make the exterior of the veranda you need:

How and how to insulate floors and ceilings

When warming the veranda, first of all, you need to pay attention to the floor. This is especially important when the foundation is piled, columnar or does not have a continuous tape. In this case, from below, it is upholstered with penofol, after which all the cracks between the boards are puttied. As a heater for the floor surface, carpet or linoleum on a polypropylene basis is suitable.

If you make high-quality insulation, then it is necessary to equip the subfloor, followed by filling and installing a finished surface with a coating.

The floors on the veranda can be insulated with expanded clay granules. To do this, on the existing surface, wooden logs are installed from beams with a section of 40x150 mm, in increments of 60 cm. Expanded clay is poured between them, the height of which should not exceed the upper edge of the boards. On top of the logs, OSB-plates are fixed, on which the finishing floor is installed.

Granules must be evenly spaced

Also, floors and walls are insulated with mineral wool. For ease of installation, it is sold in the form of rectangular plates of various thicknesses. To insulate the floor with wool, you need to cover it with a waterproofing material. For this, foamed foil foam is used. On top of this layer, wooden logs are installed, with the same section and pitch. Between them, mineral wool slabs are tightly laid. If its thickness is insufficient, then the plates are laid on top of each other, with the condition that they do not rise above the wooden frame. Otherwise, the insulation will collapse and lose its thermal insulation properties. On top of it, to the lags, attach a vapor barrier material. Then the finish is installed.

The form of mineral wool in the form of plates is convenient for installation

As a heater, foam plastic and polystyrene have proven themselves well. These materials have the same base, but the foam has a uniform structure, and the foam tends to crumble. This insulation is available in the form of plates of various thicknesses. Just like in the previous versions, a waterproofing and vapor barrier layer is required for its installation. The plates are fastened in the logs with the help of plastic dowels. The joints of the plates are filled with mounting foam, which serves as an additional adhesive material. OSB-plates or tongue-and-groove boards are fixed from above. The ceiling is insulated according to the same principle.

Lightweight and durable foam material

If the veranda is an open structure, walls of beams are built along its perimeter. Then, according to the above methods, a heater is installed. Double-glazed windows are inserted into the walls.

Video: do-it-yourself veranda

Thanks to a wide range of materials, the appearance of the veranda can be designed in an original and beautiful way. Having warmed this building, you will enjoy the view not only of flowers, but also of the winter landscape. Lunches or afternoon teas will be more memorable thanks to the natural freshness and soft light at sunset, and rainy weather will not ruin an outdoor party.

It is possible to expand the usable space of a private house or a country cottage with lightweight outbuildings. They will allow you to fully enjoy the fresh air and the surrounding nature, not hide indoors during rain or sunshine, arrange a functional recreation area and organize dinner with friends. Many are wondering how to build a terrace to the house and what design to choose for it. There are many options, so the choice is great. The main thing is to maintain harmony with the main structure, and the site should be as convenient as possible for both adults and children.

General concepts

We can say that the terrace is a kind of open area, installed on a prepared base in the form of a foundation. It is located close to the house and, unlike the veranda, is never heated. The terrace can be completely or partially covered by a roof, have a light canopy or remain open from above. For security reasons, it is protected from the sides with low railings or just handrails, but be sure to leave free space for going outside. If the platform is high, then a porch is attached to it.

The terrace always has an entrance to the house, leading to the hallway, living room or kitchen.

An extension can be built either at the stage of building a house, or during its operation. According to experts, permits are not required for an open terrace, as it refers to temporary structures. But if the site is located under the same roof as the main building and has a common foundation with it, then such a tandem will fall into the category of capital construction projects. The possibility of its construction will have to be considered at the design stage.

Location selection

Before you decide on the option of how to build a terrace to the house, you need to carefully consider its location. The site is selected taking into account:

  • free area;
  • ease of access;
  • sides of the world;
  • the presence of an attractive landscape;
  • wind protection;
  • harmony with respect to the facade;
  • having an entrance door.

A terrace can be built on one side of the house or around the entire perimeter. It can overlook the garden or be part of the entrance group. In the northern regions, it is better to install the site on the south side, and in the south - on the north side, additionally shading the extension with green spaces. Be sure to think about the fact that the terrace was on the leeward side, otherwise you can forget about a comfortable stay in the fresh air. Convenience, as practice shows, depends on many factors, so you have to take care of a lot.

Dimensions

The area of the terrace is determined based on two main indicators, namely:

  • the size of the allocated territory;
  • required functionality.

If the site is not limited by fences, backyard or outbuildings, small architectural forms or green spaces, then the first thing to think about is the correspondence between the size of the terrace and the dimensions of the main building. It is important to understand that a huge playground against the backdrop of a compact house will look like a dance floor in a recreation park. At the same time, a tiny terrace can visually dissolve into a bulky facade, turning into an ordinary porch.

The calculation of the extension area must necessarily include the condition that at least two people should pass each other on it. In other words, the terrace cannot be narrower than 120 centimeters. If it is supposed to be used as a dining area, then it should be noted that a table, for example for six people, will take at least 4m2. For a normal passage between people sitting on chairs and the edge of the site, you will have to add the same number. As a result, the final dimensions of the terrace, intended for eating or sharing tea parties, will be at least 7.5-8m2.

A recreation area is planned taking into account the placement of a sofa, deck chair and other necessary furniture.

The dimensions of the terrace can be adjusted by its shape. It can be rectangular, oval, rounded, with broken lines, combined, etc. The choice depends not only on the free space, but also on personal preferences.

materials

Based on the street location of the extension, preference should be given to materials suitable for the facade and roof of the main building. But they don't have to be exact copies. Harmony may lie in the color scheme or the chosen architectural style. For example, a wooden terrace is quite suitable for a brick house, but forged fences are unlikely to fit into a facade decorated in oriental motifs.

The main and finishing materials for a cold extension should be selected with waterproof and frost-resistant properties. In addition, the floor covering should not be slippery, as rainwater and snow can get on it. For the frame, metal structures, lumber treated with antiseptic impregnations, or bricks are used. The columnar or slab foundation is poured with concrete. For a canopy, any suitable roofing is used, and the floor is laid on wooden beams or metal profiles.

Foundation

There is an opinion that a light terrace can be installed almost on the grass. But in this case, you will have to prepare for serious problems. It is necessary, nevertheless, to know that the massiveness of the extension does not matter much. Troubles are more likely to be caused by soil freezing in winter, especially if it is prone to swelling. In this case, subsidence will be ensured, and even a concrete slab poured under the entire terrace area will not save from deformations and further destruction of structural units.

It's not worth the risk here. It would be more reasonable to remove the vegetation layer, go deep below the freezing level of the soil, add a gravel-sand cushion, lay reinforcement and pour concrete into the formwork. According to this algorithm, both columnar and slab foundations are laid. All work should be carried out in accordance with the project attached to the building site.

Screw piles are much easier to install.

The issue of combining the foundation of the terrace with the underground part of the house worries many. For a light extension, this is not recommended, since its possible shrinkage in terms of speed, time and final result will be much less than the natural shrinkage of the main, heavy structure. The terrace connected with the house will take on some of the loads that it was not designed for. As a result, cracks will appear and destruction will occur not only of the extension, but also of the structural units of the capital structure. There is only one conclusion - expansion joints should be left between the foundations of two objects, providing mutual movements.

The veranda and gazebo are a stylish and functional decoration of the summer cottage.
But, if the gazebo is a separate structure that can be used in the summer, then the veranda is a room attached to the house that has a roof, walls and is intended for year-round use.

A warm veranda can serve as a corridor, a hallway or a relaxation room, a greenhouse, a winter garden, and even a pool can be placed in it.

What is the difference between a veranda and a terrace? These concepts are often confused, although they have a constructive and visual difference. The presence of a roof and walls is what distinguishes a veranda from a terrace and a porch.

The veranda is provided for even at the stage of building a house, but more often it is completed already during operation. Therefore, many are interested in how to attach a veranda to the house with their own hands. Below is a step-by-step (step-by-step) instruction for building a veranda for a private house.

1. Veranda project

Any construction begins with the development of the project.

Summarizing the experience of building verandas, it can be noted that they differ in the following parameters:

Location (adjacent to the house):

  • Angular.
  • End.
  • Front.

Degree of closure:

  • Open.
  • closed (glazed)

By installing sliding doors for the veranda, you can transform a closed veranda into an open one.

Design feature:

  • Built-in veranda (built with the house, has a common foundation with it).
  • Attached (attached as needed, has its own foundation).

Veranda shape:

  • A popular shape is the rectangle.
  • Round (semicircular)
  • Polygonal (hexagonal, octagonal).

The main purpose of the veranda is to make the house or cottage more spacious and decorate the building. The extension of the veranda also performs a purely utilitarian function - warming the house. Therefore, the question naturally arises, how to attach a veranda to the house correctly. Despite the fact that the veranda is a summer structure, its construction provides for the implementation of a number of rules.

What is included in the construction project of the veranda:

  • the location of the veranda. The main options are listed above. It is important that the extension is a continuation of the house, representing a single architectural ensemble with it.

Note. It is better to place the veranda on the east or west side, then most of the time it will be out of direct sunlight. Also, it is worth considering the wind load in the region and on the site, in particular.

  • entrance to the veranda. The entrance can be arranged from the street, from one of the rooms, or be through, through the street into the house;
  • location of the door. It is undesirable to place the entrance doors to the veranda and the house opposite each other, otherwise drafts cannot be avoided;
  • the size of the veranda in the house. The length of the veranda is usually equal to the length of the wall along which it is built. The width is from 2.5 to 7 m. It is important here that the size of the veranda is proportional to the size of the house.

Advice from the master There is no need to save on the project. Its high-quality execution is a guarantee that the veranda will be built correctly, and the execution of permits will not cause problems.

An example of a typical veranda project is shown in the diagram.

How to attach a veranda to a wooden house

Any extension to a house made of wood is carried out after shrinkage of the structure. A house made of timber or logs shrinks over a certain period (most actively the first 2-3 years). To avoid warping the walls, you need to wait for this period, or consider connecting with the house, allowing the frame to play.

2. Documents for the construction of the veranda (permit)

The extension of the veranda refers to the restructuring of the house. Therefore, it needs to obtain permits.

To obtain a permit for the construction of a veranda (for an extension, reconstruction), you must submit to the architecture department:

  1. a document confirming the right to own the land;
  2. project of a house with a veranda;
  3. the consent of all residents registered in the house;
  4. application for clearance.

Note. You need to start processing documents 2-3 months before the planned construction work. According to user reviews, this procedure takes quite a long time.

In principle, it is possible to complete the veranda without documents, however, when selling, renting or inheriting, problems with this property may arise. The veranda is included in the total area of the residential building, the BTI may regard this as an "Unauthorized increase in living space." Especially if there is heating on the veranda (warm veranda).

During the construction of the veranda, one should not deviate from the dimensions indicated in the registered project. Any adjustment will entail a change in the design documentation and the payment of a fine. The consequences of unauthorized construction are spelled out in the Law of the Russian Federation "On Architectural Activities in the Russian Federation" and the Civil Code, an extract from which is given below.

The consequences for unauthorized construction are listed below.

The last thing to do after the construction of the veranda is to legalize the building with changes and get new documents.

3. Tools and materials for the construction of the veranda

The tool depends on what material will be used in the construction of the extension. For wood you need: a hacksaw, a screwdriver, a hammer and an ax, a sledgehammer, a tape measure, a plumb line, a level (building and water), a corner, a cord for marking, a shovel. For a metal frame, you will additionally need a grinder and a welding machine.

Material

The economy (budget) version of the veranda is a metal frame sheathed with plywood, OSB boards (OSB) or plastic clapboard.

A veranda made of brick, natural stone or wood has a more presentable appearance. It is important here that the material of the extension correspond to the material from which the house, cottage is built, or harmonize (combine) with them.

For the construction of a wooden veranda, you will need: lumber (log or timber, board, rail), fasteners (elements), protective solutions for wood, crushed stone, concrete, bitumen, drying oil or roofing material, window and door systems, roofing material.

For a metal-framed porch: metal corners and steel profiles will replace lumber, metal processing solutions will be added, but otherwise the materials will be the same.

A polycarbonate veranda has proven itself well in that it allows you to freely admire the surrounding landscape. In addition, polycarbonate retains heat well, transmits light, and can be used for both walls and roofs. Plus, the cost of the material is quite adequate. Cellular polycarbonate with a wall thickness of 14-18 mm is used.

Note. All materials requiring processing must be processed before work begins. After the veranda is built, processing will be more difficult.

Preparation for construction

The construction of the veranda begins with the preparation of the site. Part of the site, reserved for the veranda, turns into a construction site. Before starting work you need:

  • remove the visor above the entrance;
  • dismantle the porch;
  • clear the area of greenery and debris;
  • remove part of the turf;
  • consider the place of laying building materials and construction waste.

4. Foundation for the veranda to the house

Before you start pouring the foundation, you need to determine its type. The most widespread is the columnar foundation for the veranda, since it makes it possible to attach the veranda without being tied to the main foundation of the house. However, a heavier veranda needs a strip foundation to be poured.

An important point is the analysis of the soil, which makes it possible to reasonably choose the foundation for the veranda to the house. The following are taken into account: the ability of the soil to absorb moisture, the homogeneity and composition of the soil, the level of freezing, the height of the groundwater, and the stability of the soil.

In addition, the choice of the basis for the extension will be influenced by the design of the foundation of the house and the condition of the walls (wall material).

Having decided which foundation for the veranda is best done, they make markings for the tape or mark the place of installation of the pillars (supports) for the pile.

Note. For a small wooden veranda, it is enough to install pillars at the corners of the structure. For long and wide, provide additional poles along the length / width of the base. The recommended step for installing supports is 500-600 mm.

How to make a columnar foundation for a veranda

  • dig holes under the posts about 1 m deep. It is important to know that the depth of the foundation for the veranda depends on the depth of the foundation of the house (should be the same) and the level of soil freezing;
  • at the bottom of the pit, a pillow is made from a mixture of crushed stone and sand. They can also be covered in layers, first sand, then crushed stone or gravel;
  • a concrete base is poured;
  • laid out / inserted supporting pillars for the columnar foundation:

From brick. If you need to make an extension of the veranda to a brick house;

From a bar. For a wooden veranda;

From asbestos pipes, concrete poles or metal supports. For frame veranda.

The ground part of the pillars is brought to the height of the main foundation of the house. If the base is high, you need to bring the extension to the level of the house.

An example is in the photo (the first floor is used as a garage, the veranda is at the level of the second floor).

The installation site is covered with sand to eliminate and strengthen the gap between the post and the soil.

The design of the veranda with a large mass requires pouring a strip foundation. To do this, you need to dig a trench, set up the formwork (slightly higher than the required foundation height), pour concrete. The process of complete solidification of concrete must be accompanied by periodic wetting with water for uniform hardening of the concrete mixture.

5. Veranda frame

The installation of the frame begins with the execution of the lower trim. To do this, a beam is laid on the supports.

Note. The lower harness may have a double system. It is on it that racks and floor logs will be attached in the future.

Next, supports are installed that form the frame of the veranda to the house. The frame of the wooden veranda is made of timber 120x80 or 100x100. When using logs, their diameter must exceed 120 mm. Supports are recommended to be installed at a distance of 500-600 mm, but in practice this is rare. However, the supports are necessarily installed at the corners and form the door/window openings.

The height of the supports is equal to the height of the veranda. In this case, the supports installed closer to the wall must be higher in order to form a pitched roof. The methods of fastening the racks to the bottom trim are shown in the figure.

Advice. The rigidity of the supports will be given by the braces (braces) installed above and below.

When mounting the frame, horizontal bars are installed, which will serve as the basis for installing the window sill during glazing.

The execution of the upper trim ends with the installation of the veranda frame. It will serve as the basis for the formation of the truss system, and will give the frame additional rigidity.

Note. To prevent the top trim from warping, the supports must be fixed with temporary struts.

Many are interested in how to make a veranda frame from a log house. Indeed, in this case, both the foundations of buildings and the log house itself are moving. Therefore, all connections must be able to move (shift). Shrinkage compensators are installed from below, and from above the roof is firmly attached to the rafters of the log house.

6. Veranda roof

Part of the frame is the rafter system of the veranda. The installation of rafters and battens depends on what kind of roofing material the roof of the veranda will be covered with.

From the point of view of design, the following types of roofs for the veranda are distinguished:

Shed roof veranda.

The simplest and best option. In this case, the truss system is mounted at an angle from the wall of the house, which allows rainwater or snow to flow down unhindered without causing harm to the building.

Note. A shed roof is more convenient in terms of organizing drainage and, accordingly, installing a drainage system.

Double roof veranda.

In this case, the veranda is attached to the house with a narrow part. It becomes like a gateway. This method has not found proper distribution. Most often, such a roof is erected over a terrace.

The polygonal roof for the veranda is built in such a way that the angle of inclination is maintained for water to drain.

Installation of the veranda truss system

A board-run is installed on the wall of the house (beam 100x80 mm). The beam is fastened with anchor bolts. The upper parts of the rafter legs are mounted on it.

A power plate is installed along the perimeter of the frame. In small wooden extensions, this function is performed by the top trim boards. The lower parts of the rafter legs are installed on them.

The lower part of the rafters is mounted so that it is possible to provide an overhang (removal) of the roofing material, which means that the veranda is protected from falling water.

Note. The distance between the rafter legs depends on the slope of the roof, the width of the veranda, the weight of the roofing material.

When installing the roofing system of a polygonal veranda, a run board is additionally installed.

Depending on the material chosen, a crate is stuffed (for metal tiles, ondulin, slate) or a continuous crate is made (for flexible roofing materials).

7. Floor on the veranda

The order of construction, materials, methods of fastening and processing.

Do-it-yourself flooring technology:

Logs are installed on the boards of the lower strapping. The distance between adjacent logs should be no more than 1 m. The logs are installed perpendicular to how the floorboard will be laid.

Fastening the log to the strapping is an important point, the quality of its implementation determines the performance of the floor. Setting the lag is controlled by the level.

What to make the floors on the open veranda

The concrete floor on the veranda is cheaper, plus, it is durable and requires subsequent finishing. For example, you can lay tiles or lay linoleum. The wooden floor on the veranda, even painted, will deform over time. The plinth is also recommended to use plastic with wood decor.

How to cover the floors on a closed veranda

The floor of the closed veranda is being laid. In this case, the installation begins with the board farthest from the entrance. It is attached to the lags directly through the board.

Subsequent boards are mounted using the tenon-groove method, and the fastening of the hardware is carried out through the groove.

How to fix the floorboard on the veranda

It is recommended to fix the floor boards with self-tapping screws. Their length should be twice the width of the board. The distance from the edge of the floorboard to the wall is 10-15 mm. Such a gap will compensate for the expansion of wood in the hot season.

How to cover the floor on the veranda (open, closed)

Wooden veranda flooring is one of the most popular and easy to install. Therefore, the actual question is how to process the floor on the veranda in order to extend the service life and preserve the aesthetic properties.

Floorboards will last longer if they are additionally covered with solutions that prevent the appearance of fungus. As a floor finish, a decorative layer of paint or stain is applied, varnished on top.

A novelty among paintwork materials is Dufa "Liquid Plastic" paint, designed for outdoor use (well suited for an open veranda).

Of the transparent coatings, the respect of users has earned:

  • Tikkurila Valtti (wood oil);
  • Pinotex Terrace Oil;
  • Alpina Oel Terrassen Dunkel;
  • Watco Danish Oil.;
  • as well as epoxy varnishes (yacht varnishes), which are designed for use in a humid environment.
  • the product must be intended for wood;
  • be resistant to abrasion;
  • differ in resistance to the influence of environmental factors (water, temperature, ultraviolet).

It is worth noting that veranda floor coverings are quite expensive, but this is justified by their service life, no refinishing and high aesthetic properties.

8. Roofing material for the veranda

As a roofing material, it is better to use such material for the roof of the veranda, which is installed on the main building (house or cottage). Well proved, bituminous tile,. They are installed in accordance with the manufacturer's recommendations.

Note. To prevent water from flowing inside the veranda at the junction of the roof of the extension to the wall of the house, it is necessary to lay a joint bar over the roofing material.

The correct installation of the joint strip involves the manufacture of a gash in the wall of the house into the institution of the narrow edge of the strip into it.

You can admire the surrounding beauty in the warmth of the veranda by installing transparent roofs for the veranda. In this case, the role of the roofing material is played by glass or cellular polycarbonate.

Telescopic awning roofs or sliding roofs for the veranda are considered a novelty.

). Installation of finishing materials depends on their type.

It is important to know that the wall of the veranda adjacent to the house is fixed with embedded metal elements (details). The fastening must be rigid.

Today, sheathing of the walls of the veranda with sliding systems is popular, the upper half of which is glass and the lower half is wooden.

Note. Before moving on to the external and internal decoration of the walls of the veranda, you need to give it time to settle. This is especially true for wooden verandas.

10. Veranda glazing

Windows occupy a significant part of the area of the walls of the veranda. Due to the fact that the veranda is a summer building, single wooden windows are usually installed, most often plastic or wooden. Aluminum windows with multi-chamber double-glazed windows are used.

The large veranda is equipped with both opening and blind windows. The first allow you to provide ventilation of the room, the second - to save on glazing. Sliding windows deserve attention, allowing you to turn the veranda into an open terrace.

Among the new products, flexible windows for the veranda stand out. They allow you to extend the operational period of the summer veranda. The advantage of windows in a relatively low cost, the ability to quickly assemble and disassemble for the winter. They make the high veranda safe for children to play without compromising its appeal.

Soft windows for the veranda - roll systems (PVC curtains), which allow you to glaze the veranda of any configuration (round, semicircular, oval).

Very often in a country house there is not enough additional space for relaxation. You can supplement the building with an additional living room, but a simpler option is to add a veranda. The dimensions of such a room and its appearance can be very diverse, which entails certain subtleties of the construction process.

Room Features

The planned construction of a residential building usually does not include a veranda, so this object often has to be added as needed. If the house has small dimensions, then often it lacks an area for additional storage of things or exclusively for relaxation. As soon as the need arises to organize such a space, you need to think about how to attach it to a residential building.

Type of veranda can be different, first of all, it depends on the material from which it is made, which, in turn, depends on the construction of the house itself. For a brick building, it is better to make the same veranda, since an attached structure made of a different material will be less reliable. The design of the extension must be either completely or partially closed, because the purpose of this new space must have some kind of function, and the more of them, the better.

When planning the location of the veranda, it is important to take into account the part of the house on which it would be best to complete the building. Usually this is the north side, where a real room is added to the house, where you can comfortably spend time at any time of the year. The veranda can replace a summer kitchen, where you can cook and eat in warm weather, can serve as a place for the whole family to relax, because in summer you can hide from the sun and be in nature, opening all windows as much as possible, and in spring and autumn it will be possible contemplation of the surrounding landscape without leaving home.

When the veranda is assigned the role of a gym or a hobby room, it is best to place it in the direction of the windows to the garden so that the view of trees, flowers and bright greenery inspires accomplishment. When the extension serves as the entrance to the house, it is organized opposite the gate in order to maximize the convenience of getting into the living space.

As soon as the idea of \u200b\u200bbuilding finally matured in my head, you need to build it on paper and get down to business. The process is not the most difficult, but with improper planning and execution, the result can be very upsetting. For a capital-type veranda, a mandatory element will be the foundation on which an additional structure is attached to the house. Dimensions can be different, it all depends on the size of the house and the purpose of the new room. If the house is large, then you can add a gazebo to any length of the finished wall, as for the width, it is almost always two meters.

The dimensions of the veranda should not be made very large, because this is an unheated room, and it will be cool from a large cold room and in the house itself. It is optimal to make it half as small as the existing wall, provided a large house. If it is small, then it is quite appropriate to add a full-fledged room to the width of the house and to the required length, which the land plot of the yard allows.

Material selection

To build a good veranda, you first need to decide on the materials from which it will be built. You need to pay attention to each stage of work in order to achieve a good result. It is best for a brick house to complete the veranda from brick, because it is easier to connect the same materials together and create a solid and reliable structure. For this type of work, it is important to make a foundation, because the building will have considerable weight and over time the soil will begin to sag and cracks will appear on the walls. It is important to make a sufficiently strong foundation, filling the trench with cement or making supports, placing the finished structure on them.

It is important to make the floor from a bar so that it is strong and powerful, then the coating will last a long time and will not cause any problems. On the beam itself, you can fill the boards and make a simple wooden floor, or use any other coating suitable for the veranda: laminate, linoleum, ceramic tiles. The walls are built of brick, and their height can be very different. The higher they are, the warmer it will be in the room, and the lower they are, the more light they can let in. You can practically do without them, using polycarbonate walls instead.

A fully glazed veranda would be appropriate if it is made of high-quality double-glazed windows, where all seams are hermetically sealed and no gusts of wind penetrate inside. In this case, it will be pleasant to be on the veranda at any time of the year, because the picture of the surrounding world will be as close as possible and any family member can please himself with it.

It is best to build the same wooden veranda to a wooden house, because as soon as an extension made of wood will look logical in the general interior of the room and it will be much easier to work with materials of the same type. The foundation is not needed in this case. A frame base of the floor and walls is created, which are then sheathed with selected materials. A veranda decorated with carved wood patterns or original laying of materials during work will look beautiful. The window frame for this type of building may be plastic, but glass will be able to convey color better, although there will be a risk of small drafts. Wooden verandas will be less capital than brick ones, but you can choose a different purpose for them and make full use of the new additional space.

In each of the options you need to make a roof. The lighter it is, the easier it is to install, and the less weight it will give to the structure itself. Having made the frame, it is necessary to sheathe it with either corrugated board or metal tiles. It is better to choose the color of the coating to match the roof of the house or as close as possible to it, so that everything together looks like one whole, and not disparate objects that are artificially connected together.

Constructions

As soon as the plan for the construction of the veranda has matured, it is necessary to take up the planning of each stage of work. The first point will be to determine the place where it is most logical to locate a new room.

Veranda can be:

  • angular;
  • end;
  • facade.

As soon as the issue is resolved with the first task, you need to decide on the degree of closeness of the veranda.

There are only two possible options:

  • closed;
  • open.

If only a closed type of building is planned, it provides windows that can be opened for ventilation, and an open type of building is already a terrace. In a closed building, sliding elements can be provided that will help open the space as much as possible, which will make the room combined.

If the veranda is planned at the stage of building a house, then its design may have several options:

  • built-in;
  • attached type.

It is possible to build a veranda during the construction of the house itself, and attach it after the completion of the main process or even many years after that. Due to the fact that the design may differ, even greater variety can be seen in the forms of the veranda that can be built:

  • rectangular structures;
  • round and semicircular structures;
  • polygonal extension, most often containing six corners.

When choosing one of the options, it is worth remembering that the veranda should not only serve as a kind of room, it should also beautifully complement the house, decorate it and become its highlight.

While all documentary cases are going on, there is time to deal with the designs of the veranda and choose the most suitable one for a particular house. It is important to initially decide whether it will be a full-fledged room, a warm veranda or an ordinary light building. For private houses where they live all year round, a winter veranda is much more preferable, because it can be considered a living space. An exclusively summer building will be used only in the warm season, which reduces its versatility.

The arrangement of each of the premises will depend on many factors. If the veranda is insulated and closed, then you can place a sofa, armchairs in it and use it as a living room. In the case of an open veranda, it is better to place wicker furniture on it, which will not be affected by precipitation and which can be easily removed if not needed.

Having chosen a closed type of veranda for construction, sometimes it becomes necessary to build an additional open building. A gazebo is a good option for those who like to sit outdoors. Its dimensions can be quite small and, if desired, it can even be moved from place to place. If there is no desire to build a large number of buildings, then it is best to make a combined veranda, which will be completely covered, with windows, walls, but with sliding elements.

The design of the veranda can be angular, if it is not possible to place it along one of the walls, or L-shaped, if there is a desire to combine an open and closed structure under one roof. The roof of the main extension should be capital and fully protected from all the vagaries of nature. For a gazebo, it will be enough to make a canopy, which will partially cover from the sun and rain, but the extension will perform the main function in the warm and dry season.

We beat the area

Depending on the dimensions of the house itself, the dimensions of the veranda will also differ. The internal content of any space will be dictated not only by its size, but also by the functional purpose for which it was built. The average dimensions of a comfortable veranda are 170 by 400 cm, but there are also small options, the length of which will be about two meters.

When there are unlimited possibilities for the construction of additional buildings, then their size will depend on what is supposed to be done in the room. If the veranda is planned as a gathering place for family, friends, a room for summer holidays and cozy gatherings in the evening, then it is very important to build a room with sufficient dimensions. It should easily accommodate a table and a sofa, you can arrange a mini bar, and in some cases even provide for a barbecue. Thus, the optimal area of such a room will be 25 m2, and the length of one wall should not be less than five meters.

When only a few people live in a country house and there is no need to make large additional rooms, the veranda can be made such that a comfortable chair and a coffee table can be easily placed there in order to be able to enjoy nature alone or in the company of one or two people. The dimensions of such a room can be two times smaller.

The area of the veranda also depends on the type of its construction. If this is a rectangular room, then most often the length ranges from four to six meters, and the width is from three to four. In a square, all walls will have the same length. This option is rarely used for the entire width of the house, most often it is a side extension of small dimensions. For lovers of unusual shapes, you can build a veranda in the form of a semicircle or triangle.

Based on the choice of the type of building, materials for the frame, walls, glazing, floor and roof are also selected. Each construction option involves its own type of roof. For narrow verandas, a shed roof is suitable, in square and rectangular ones - a gable roof, and for original buildings, the roof can have an unusual look that will fully correspond to the style of the building.

If the plot of land on which the house stands has extraordinary dimensions and it is very difficult to build a veranda near the house, you can make this room in the form of a separate building that has a common passage with the house. Usually it is made in the form of a glass corridor, but combined compositions can also be used. In this case, it is possible to create an overall veranda of the original form. It can be a circle or a polyhedron, and the distinguishing feature will be an almost complete overview of the area around it. The dimensions of such a structure can be any, the main thing is to harmoniously fit it into the existing territory so as not to spoil it and make it possible to enjoy it every day.

Interior design

The appearance of the veranda is important, because it must fit into the overall concept of the exterior and be in harmony with it, but the interior arrangement of this room is much more important. The use of various materials will depend primarily on two factors - the size of the room and its location relative to the cardinal points. If the building is small, it needs to be filled with light as much as possible, the same applies to their location in those parts of the house where there is little sunlight.

If the veranda is large, spacious and bright, this makes it possible to experiment with materials, shapes and even textures, especially in the case of a closed type of building. It is important to decorate not only the walls, floor and ceiling, but also to use specially selected furniture.

Another important factor that significantly influences the choice of building materials and furniture to be used is the heating system. It is important to design an unheated area so that the material lasts as long and firmly as possible and does not have to be repaired annually. Finishing of all walls must be of high quality. In the work on the veranda, you cannot save money, otherwise all the work done inside the room will soon come to naught.

Each element of the veranda must be functional, beautiful and resistant to various external influences. The floor is an important element in the arrangement of the extension, it can be sheathed with ordinary boards, but such a coating will be cold in the winter. It is best to use heaters on which to put an additional layer of chipboard or fiberboard on top. You can finish the floors with laminate or tiles.

If we talk about the walls, then for wooden buildings it is best to upholster them from the inside with clapboard, which has a pleasant color and texture and creates an imitation of a real wooden house. Working with this material is quite simple, it is reliable and durable, which means that the interior decoration will last for many years. If desired, it can be painted in any color, this will give freshness to the interior and additionally protect the wood from damage.

You can also hem the ceiling in the veranda using various materials. The cheapest will be a fiberboard sheet, multifunctional - drywall, the most beautiful - suspended ceiling. Sheathing with fiberboard sheets looks the simplest, but it can be stylishly decorated with foam tiles that are glued directly to the existing surface. It is important that the roof itself, its external coating and interior decoration are made of high-quality and lightweight materials so that there is no strong pressure on the foundation.

For the same reasons, the walls of the veranda itself can be laid out not from bricks, but from foam blocks. They have less weight and the construction is built in a shorter time due to the significant dimensions. This material can be faced if the blocks do not have a completely presentable appearance, or left untouched if even and beautiful seams were achieved during construction, and the foam blocks themselves were not previously used and have an ideal appearance.

As for the interior itself, it is not difficult to equip it.

The most common styles for this are:

  • oriental theme;
  • ecostyle;
  • Scandinavian motifs;
  • provence;
  • country and similar directions.

The arrangement of the veranda in any of these options has one thing in common - these are natural materials that should be used in the decoration and furnishing of the room.

To give warmth, coziness and comfort, there are a number of items that will be appropriate in any style:

  • decorative pillows for sofas and armchairs;
  • beautiful tablecloths on the table, the use of embroidery, ornament, interesting pattern;
  • for certain styles, it will be appropriate to use chair covers;
  • to give a romantic effect to the interior, you can add candles on decorative candlesticks;
  • the use of paintings, photographs will create a complete look.

By erecting a veranda in a private house, you can make a functional full-fledged room out of it, where it will be dry, warm, light and comfortable. In addition to the recreation area, you can use such a room as an office, living room, kitchen with dining room, greenhouse and even a children's room. Having all the necessary tools and materials, without violating the construction technology, you can make a full-fledged room that will become for someone a real personal space or a public domain and a place of rest.

landscape design

When equipping the territory of a country house, it is necessary to think over both the construction of housing, verandas, and other outbuildings, if necessary, but also pay attention to green spaces, which play a very important role. If the territory is being settled in the country house, then in addition to the garden itself, the garden and the vineyard, it is important to make an area with flower beds, ornamental trees, and alpine slides. These elements are traditionally placed in a place where it is most convenient to contemplate the man-made beauty.

If the house has a veranda, then it is necessary to put the earth outside not just in order, but to make a miniature garden, which will look interesting and please the eye. Exotic lovers can place a rock garden on the site, and those who prefer to relax with the sounds of water should organize a fountain or similar structure where it will constantly circulate.

Trees along the edges of the decorated area can be large enough to delimit the recreation area from the garden or yard. It is important to use a variety of plants that will create a symbiosis of shapes, colors and sizes, but they must be correctly and beautifully arranged.

If the site outside the veranda has a slope, then this disadvantage can be interestingly beaten. One option would be a ladder of different types of plants that are planted on the same level, each of which is clearly divided by height. It will be very beautiful if a small pond or fountain is organized at the bottom of such steps. For a territory that is very small, it is possible to artificially create uneven soil. Ravines and hillocks will visually make the space larger and make it possible to use more green spaces of various types.

If the landscape is being developed for a long time, then it is important to do it right by providing a drainage system with wastewater discharged into a special sewer. This stage is the very first, before new land is brought in and plants are planted. When laying all the pipes is ready, you need to take care of a layer of drainage material. Once all the preparations are made, you can begin to introduce the soil on which all the plants will be planted.

Usually, behind beautiful landscapes, there should be a fence separating the territory of the house from neighbors or the street. This design often spoils the appearance and overall impression of nature, therefore it is recommended to hide it behind a hedge, which is most often made from coniferous trees that grow quickly and have a beautiful appearance. Another important element is the lawn, which can have a different look depending on its purpose. If children or pets play on it, then you need to buy tougher grass, but in the case of an exclusively decorative effect, you can plant elite varieties that are distinguished by their sophisticated structure, pleasant color, but requiring more attention and care.

With regards to trees, they are planted a little, because they grow quickly and attract all the attention. If you plant only a few plantings, then you need to choose those species that will have a beautiful and interesting appearance all year round. These are arborvitae, maples, nuts, chestnuts, oaks, spruces and other options. If the area near the veranda has a large area, then the composition will have the main focus in the middle in the form of high group plantings and smaller ones near it. Very popular and hedges.

If it is possible to form paths in the area to be decorated, then they can also be planted with shrubs on both sides. It will be beautiful if these plants are cut regularly, which will give an even greater decorative effect to the landscape. If we talk about a flower garden, it is important to plant flowers in it so that some blooming ones replace others, and this process begins in early spring and lasts until late autumn. In addition, it is advisable to seat them according to colors, so that there are no options of the same tone next to each other and each new species pleases with an interesting and unusual shade.

The final touch in the design of the landscape design of the territory of a country house with a veranda will be the arrangement of lighting. In the evening, being on the veranda, it is very pleasant to look at nature in the rays of the setting sun or under artificial lighting. If this is not the case, then all the beauty outside the window will disappear with the last rays and nothing will be visible until morning. With the help of small lamps, flashlights and light bulbs, you can slightly illuminate the area, arranging them so as to focus on the most beautiful specimens. You can also install lighting near the water, making the site even more beautiful and mysterious and be able to admire it at any time of the day or night.

Beautiful examples for inspiration

Having a country house, it is important to make sure that everything in it is beautiful and functional. This also applies to the veranda. In this space, you can organize any room, while using additional elements. A veranda with a fireplace or a stove will have a cozy and warm look. In the cold season, these devices will help warm the air in the room. If the veranda is not used during the cold season, then you can not heat it. In a private house, it would be appropriate to organize a veranda with a barbecue in order to make delicious barbecue or other dishes on fire as soon as possible.

The suburban area is characterized by the construction of a low house, although there are also two-story houses. As for the veranda itself, it belongs to a one-story room, which can be fully or partially residential, depending on the type of building.

The veranda in a country house can be made of double-glazed windows and look like a completely transparent structure, which adds lightness to it and does not clutter up the space.

If a private house lacks a zone in which you can gather with the whole family or arrange a meeting with guests, then the veranda will be an excellent solution to this problem. To do this, you need to equip it with a living room with kitchen elements. It is important that the interior is warm, but has country motifs in the form of wicker furniture and a wooden table with a bench.

If the veranda is being built in order to create personal space and the opportunity to be alone with yourself, then for such a room it is important to use comfortable upholstered furniture, place a coffee table next to it, placing it all in front of large glass windows that open a full panorama of the entire area, which was carefully prepared specifically for these goals. This is a budget option, but it is he who is best suited for a good rest.

A veranda is a great way to organize an extra room in a country house or in a private house. Do not forget that this is a kind of "calling card" of the whole house: guests see the design of the veranda, then go inside the house. Before decorating the veranda, you need to choose whether your extension will be open or you decide to completely close it and make a cozy place with a gorgeous view from the window. This choice imposes some restrictions when choosing the necessary furniture and design in general.

It would be a great idea to decorate the veranda with garlands, at night it looks very beautiful.

In warm weather, you can receive guests on the veranda

The veranda is a great place to relax in the fresh air.

The veranda can be either closed or open building with any type of roof, while it must be part of the house. The terrace is located outside the main building, so you should initially plan the design of the terrace. When building a terrace, an additional raised base is created, often at a certain elevation from the ground. It must be fenced, otherwise it will be considered an open area outside the house.

The veranda with the house has a common foundation, which distinguishes it from all other types of additional buildings. The advantage is that it can be built together with the house or erected as an additional structure. Often, verandas are closed, allowing you to decorate it even as a separate room, especially in the summer.

To create a good overview, choose a large space, while windows can be on 2-3 sides. The porch should not be confused with the veranda, because it has no roof and walls or they do not border on the main building. Do you want to create a full-fledged room, like in a private house? Insulate and completely close the extension, decorate it in the required style and arrange functional furniture.

The veranda decorated with curtains will look very beautiful.

Even in the smallest veranda you can organize a place to relax

How are terraces and verandas divided?

Verandas can be closed and open. To save time, it is worth planning the structure before the construction of the main building. If the foundation is solid, the risk of cracks on the walls of the additional building will be significantly reduced. The extension must be documented along with the plan as part of a private house or cottage. If you decide to create a veranda after the construction of the main building, be prepared to pay additional money to complete the entire package of documents. Exterior decoration should be as similar as possible or made in the same style with the whole house.

The veranda is a great place to relax and have tea.

In such a veranda you can relax at any time of the year.

Terrace design is divided into three types.

Open type - a territory without a foundation, which can additionally be covered with a canopy.

    Perfect for summer holidays in the country. Not popular due to the specific climate.

Closed version - equipped with a foundation separate from the main building, walls are installed.

    If you want the terrace to serve all year round, take care of installing ventilation and heating systems.

Interior decoration of the veranda

You can choose the design of the veranda yourself. But there are certain rules for interior decoration that must be followed to create a cozy atmosphere. The extension is created close to nature, so the style should be as close to natural as possible.

Style selection

The style must be chosen the same in which the house was decorated or be as similar as possible to it. It is not necessary to create a veranda in an identical style, you can take the main points from the interior design of a private house and place them on the veranda. Styles such as country or Provence are best suited for her. Thanks to the interweaving of comfort and simplicity, you can create a place that is ideal for relaxing. Unusually, while harmoniously, the Japanese style will look.

materials

Remember the basic rule: no artificial materials, everything must be natural. If you have a lot of space, you can make an additional stone wall that will resemble a loft. The floors are made using porcelain stoneware - a wear-resistant material that can last for a huge period of time, while it requires a minimum of maintenance effort. It is best to use panoramic glazing that transmits light, illuminating the plants.

Advice! Install glass sliding doors that allow freshness to enter at a certain moment or, on the contrary, to protect from rain.

layout

Choose based on the purpose of the veranda: you can create both a small cozy place to relax, and a full-fledged dining room, hallway or living room. If you are not going to create a kitchen from an extension, it is enough to purchase a designer table and light chairs so that you can sometimes chat over a cup of tea. You can cook a barbecue, then you need a barbecue.

If you need a veranda for country feasts with a huge number of friends and relatives, then the layout must be carried out taking into account all the rules. Divide the area for cooking and eating separately. In the first one, you need to put an oven and a grill, a cutting table and separately purchase cupboards for dishes. Properly organizing the placement of kitchen furniture, you can rid yourself of the kitchen inside the house.

On warm days, the veranda is a great place to relax in the fresh air.

Choosing furniture

Choose garden furniture, it is made of durable materials, perfectly tolerates the effects of external sources. Such furniture is not afraid of moisture, cold or strong sunlight. It is enough to buy one large table and comfortable chairs. You can put a large sofa for relaxing with the whole family.

If you create a room for relaxation, it will not be superfluous to put a coffee table. In the case of creating a full-fledged kitchen, purchase cabinets, otherwise they will be useless. A rocking chair and slides with various plants look great to create a relaxing atmosphere.

Space around the main room

The veranda should be in the same style with the surrounding landscape. If there is a garden, it should organically continue the style of the extension. For example, you choose the English style for decorating the veranda, make sure that the garden was in the same style. It can be organically combined with other areas surrounding the house:

    right in the annex, create your own greenhouse or a small winter garden;

    a playground for children so that they can have fun while adults are busy with their own business;

    you can build a bathhouse and combine it with a veranda: take a steam bath, then eat barbecue.

If you approach the design responsibly, a simple extension can turn into a full-fledged additional room or a functional resting place.

What to choose curtains for the veranda?

Curtains will help to complement the design of the veranda in a private house, which can be:

    transparent - an easy option will help create a romantic atmosphere, it will not be able to protect you from the wind;

    acrylic version - able to repel dust and dirt, a huge number of different options are available so that you can choose curtains for a specific style of the veranda;

    PVC film is the most practical option that can create comfort even in bad weather, but it looks much worse than the previous two options;

The type of curtains in a private house must be chosen based on your requirements. If you want to protect yourself from the sun and curious neighbors, you should choose classic fabric curtains, fastened on hooks. It is worth tying up with special ties, the most popular options are magnets and hairpins. It is not worth tying the curtains very high, and also observe symmetry.

Should I add plants?

Summer in Russia is incredibly hot, you can save yourself from this not only with curtains and curtains, but also by planting plants. Vertical landscaping is ideal for an open veranda to cover existing openings. Our climate is favorable for various climbing plants, so you can give the veranda an incredible appearance and at the same time save yourself from the sun at no additional cost.

Vertical gardening can make the air wetter by reducing dust levels. If you want to give an unusual look to the extension, you can independently purchase rare plants, but you will have to spend a considerable amount of money. You can use the classic version: hedges serve as decoration. It is worth decorating the veranda not only inside, but also outside, planting coniferous trees and small shrubs nearby.

The veranda is being built so that it becomes a great place where you can take a break from everyday hustle and bustle, relax and forget about all the problems. On the contrary, you can make it a place to work with an ideal view.
