Entrance doors for the private sector. How to choose the best front door to a private house

When choosing a front door for a private house, there are many factors to consider. The product must meet certain requirements, important of which are reliability and high thermal insulation. Without knowing the basic required characteristics, you should not rush to the first option that comes across. In this article, we will look at several different designs, and also figure out which front door is best for a private house in one case or another.

Types of entrance doors

Entrance doors for a country house are classified according to several parameters. First of all, you should pay attention to the material from which the structure is made. Among the popular options are wooden, plastic, metal and forged doors.

In addition, other types of door structures can be found on the market. Of course, they are not so popular among the population, especially glass products. Doors of this type perform a decorative function, moreover, the work of installing them in Moscow is quite expensive.

Wooden

Wooden doors are very common because they are highly durable and ennoble the exterior of the house. But, recently, the popularity of such doors has decreased somewhat, this is due to the appearance on the market of steel structures, which inspire more confidence.

For the manufacture of wooden doors, solid wood, wooden panels or panels in combination with metal are used. In the first case, the canvas is completely made of wood without any inserts from another material, in the second case, sheet metal of a certain thickness is placed between the shields, which can significantly increase the strength of the structure.

Wooden canvases can have a different design and size, they protect the house well from heat loss.

We recommend opting for products made of solid natural wood, since sheets made of pressed chips have a short service life (as a result, they will have to be replaced within a few years after installation).

Plastic

No less popular are modern plastic doors. For their manufacture, PVC profiles and plastic sheets are used. A heater is installed between the sheets, which improves the thermal insulation properties of products. In the photo below you can see a standard plastic front door in a private house.

Among the advantages of plastic street doors for the house, it is worth highlighting:

  • low cost;
  • good sound insulation;
  • perfect insulation;
  • ease of installation;
  • durability;
  • no corrosive processes.

Structures made of metal-plastic are equipped with double-glazed windows. On the inside, you can stick a special decorative film, which will give originality to the doors.

Of course, metal-plastic structures have some disadvantages. So, for example, when burning, they emit toxic substances, there is a high probability of fading under the influence of sunlight and rather high temperatures. In addition, such canvases are unstable to mechanical damage.

metal

Today, entrance metal doors in private homes are in great demand. This is due to the fact that they have high performance characteristics. For the manufacture of metal doors, a steel standard sheet is used, the thickness of which can reach 2 mm. The thicker the material, the higher the structural strength.

From the inside, the sheet is reinforced with vertical and horizontal stiffeners. The best option is the combined arrangement of elements.

Armored metal doors from the manufacturer have high strength. They are made on the basis of the safe. So, concrete is poured inside the frame, which makes the doors bulletproof. Of course, such iron products are very heavy and not easy to use.

forged

Beautiful forged doors are basically a metal sheet, which is decorated with forged elements. Particularly popular are products with glass inserts on the outside, while high-strength material is used. This allows you to leave the reliability of the door structure at the appropriate level.

Entrance door dimensions

Depending on the size, entrance doors are divided into three types:

  • single leaf;
  • one and a half;
  • bivalve.

The first option is often used in urban apartments. As for one-and-a-half and double-leaf structures, they are installed in private homes and offices. Each of these options has its own characteristics.

One and a half

One and a half doors are installed in country houses, in the entrances and vestibules of multi-storey buildings. With their help, you can provide enough space for bringing furniture, building materials and other bulky items through the openings. Such doors consist of a narrow part and a wide working leaf. The width of the first canvas is 30 cm, and the second - 90 cm.

Often a small sash is fixed in the door frame with a latch. If necessary, it can be easily opened. The main thing is that the loop is movable.

Double

The peculiarity of such a door design is that both leaves are working, so they are often the same in width. Of course, when making a custom design, the ratio of dimensions can be changed. But still, the canvases are equipped with handles and a connecting locking mechanism.

Double doors fit perfectly into the exterior of a Gothic style house. To hide the bulkiness of the design and give it elegance, experts recommend using decorative forged elements and inserts made of durable glass.

By style

Previously, doors were used solely to protect the house from the entry of strangers. Today, such products are an integral element of the exterior of the house. They can tell a lot about its owner. Therefore, when choosing, it is worth considering the design of the door leaf.

modern doors

To make the door a real color of the house, it is best to opt for modern designs. They are made from various materials and have certain design features.

In a private house, you can use the following products:

  • Modern combined doors. Several materials are used to make canvas. A good option would be a composition of metal and glass - these doors look very modern and elegant.

  • Hinged doors. The canvas is mounted on hinges. Despite the heavy weight, the door easily rotates into the desired position.

  • With additional sash. For creative people, the best option would be to install an additional decorative sash.

  • Doors with glass inserts. With the help of glass, you can dilute the monotony of the canvas and make it more attractive and solid. Inserts can have a different shape, size and placement. You should not worry about the reliability of such a door, as it uses tempered and high-strength glass that can withstand various loads.

In fact, there are a lot of options for decorating doors. Therefore, everyone can find an option that suits a particular style.

Winter doors (insulated)

In regions with harsh climatic conditions, special attention should be paid to the thermal insulation of the house. An excellent solution in this case would be the installation of winter doors. The peculiarity of such structures is that they have high thermal insulation properties. Inside the canvas there are several heaters (polystyrene foam, polyurethane foam, mineral wool, cork material, isolon). There are additional layers for insulation - at least 2-3 contours of the seal and finishing with frost-resistant materials on the outside of the web.

Insulated front doors for a private house have the following advantages:

  • high thermal insulation, which allows you to protect the house from heat loss;
  • protection against formation of condensate and icing of a cloth;
  • the presence of an external finish with an anti-vandal coating;
  • variety of design, aesthetic appearance.

The Finnish door is a multilayer structure: the frame is made of timber, which is sheathed with reinforced aluminum sheets, the void is filled with polystyrene foam. It also uses double-sided insulation, which protects the canvas from moisture. A decorative coating is attached on top. To protect the house from heat loss, the door structure is additionally equipped with seals.

The advantages of Finnish doors include:

  • high strength;
  • good thermal insulation properties;
  • variety of colors and designs;
  • the possibility of using decorative inserts;
  • sufficiently high strength.

Doors with glass

Many people believe that glass inset doors are less secure than conventional doors. But actually it is not. It all depends on the material used. Often, high-strength glass is used for insertion, and forged gratings are used as additional protection.

Doors with glass have some advantages:

  • The presence of a natural light source. Light from the street will enter through the glass insert into the dark corridor. This eliminates the need for artificial light sources.
  • Safety. Through the insert, you can see who is on the other side of the door. This option is especially suitable for protected objects.
  • Aesthetics. Glass inserts give the door leaf elegance and elegance. They can have a different shape and shade.

As for the disadvantages, it is worth highlighting the relatively high cost due to the use of glass elements.

Thermal break doors

A door with a thermal break is a metal sheet that is equipped with special heat-insulating inserts. These are special elements of the interior of the front door with a low degree of thermal conductivity.

As a thermal break are used:

  • PVC inserts. Allow to reduce heat transfer between materials. Gaskets have chambers filled with air. They are what keep the heat in.
  • Styrofoam. Most often used to protect the product from freezing.
  • Mineral wool. Acts as an ideal sealant. To protect the cotton wool from getting wet and losing its properties, it is additionally covered with a special film.
  • Glass wool. Used in cheap models. The disadvantage of the material is that when it burns, harmful fumes are released.
  • An array of wood. Environmentally friendly material with high density. Its presence significantly increases the cost of the product.

Of course, in order to achieve maximum results, it is necessary to carry out a quality installation of the door structure in compliance with all requirements:

  • a seal is mounted around the perimeter of the door frame;
  • installation of special handles with a thermal break;
  • organization of supply and exhaust ventilation.

Given these features, it is better to entrust the installation of the door frame to professionals.

On the video: an overview of the insulated front door with a thermal break.

Elite doors are quite expensive. This is due to their high performance and special production technology. The canvas is made of a steel frame, which is equipped with stiffeners. It is sheathed with a one-piece bent sheet with a thickness of 1.5 mm to 3 mm. The latter option is recommended to be installed in private homes. The filler is polypropylene or polystyrene. They provide high heat and sound insulation.

As for finishing, valuable wood species, expensive metal, glass and other elite materials are used for this.

In addition, the design is equipped with high-strength and reliable locks and other fittings. When making a door to order, it is possible to install a biometric lock. It identifies the owner by fingerprint.

Front doors to the house

Front doors are representative structures that are installed at the central entrance. Externally, they are designed for the exterior of the building, and inside - for finishing the entrance room. A very large load falls on such entrance doors. Therefore, they must meet high requirements in terms of strength and insulating properties.

Front doors differ in their appearance. They look very massive and have a significant size. Often they are made in the form of a double-leaf design.

Among the main features it is worth highlighting:

  • presentable and aesthetic appearance;
  • the use of natural and expensive materials;
  • practicality and reliability;
  • high wear resistance and long service life;
  • reinforced construction and massiveness.

Often front entrance doors are made to order. Therefore, it is possible to create an original design. For decoration use a variety of inserts and forged products.

What is the best front door?

When choosing a front door for a private house, it is worth considering that it must meet certain requirements:

  • Home safety. The main function is to protect the house from the intrusion of third parties. Therefore, the door structure and accessories must have high strength and reliability.
  • Heat and sound insulation. The canvas should reliably protect the house from external noise and heat loss.
  • Resistance to mechanical damage. First of all, it concerns hacking attempts. The design must withstand any attempts to open.

So what kind of front door to choose for a private house? The best option would be metal insulated sheets, you can also consider options for Finnish production. Such products are presented on the market in a wide range, so it will not be difficult to choose a model that will be optimally combined with the exterior of the house.

Choosing an entrance door is not the easiest task that not every homeowner can handle, but not only the safety of property, but also the health of people living in the house will depend on the decision made. Therefore, the choice of the front door must be approached with full responsibility.

Criteria for choosing an entrance door for a house

The main function of the front door is to ensure the safety and security of property in the house. Therefore, when choosing an entrance door suitable for a country house or townhouse, one should take into account the many requirements that the product must meet.

Otherwise, the door leaf, not only will it not be able to ensure the safety of property, but its service life will be several times lower than that of branded counterparts. This is unacceptable, especially if you are purchasing a door that is comparable in price to well-known brands.

Entrance metal doors provide a high level of reliability, especially compared to wooden counterparts

The basic requirements that any front door must meet include the following:

In fact, these are the main criteria, taking into account which, you can choose a high-quality and durable product. If desired, the list can be expanded to include the manufacturer's company, price segment and door type, but for most ordinary buyers this is enough. If necessary, you can always read the reviews of people. They are easy to find on the Internet on specialized sites.

Design features of the door leaf

A frame metal door is the most commonly used type of door leaf, which is installed in private houses and suburban buildings of various configurations. The power frame structure provides rigidity and reliability to the door leaf, and the possibility of arranging several technological layers provides additional performance.

Any metal door has vertical or horizontal stiffeners

Before buying a door, we strongly recommend that you study the structure of the door leaf, as well as the materials and components used in the manufacture and assembly of it. This will allow you to more professionally evaluate the doors being sold, which is especially important for small towns, where the choice of products and outlets is extremely limited.

Wooden and metal-plastic doors are less reliable than their metal counterparts, so it is irrational to consider them as an entrance door. It makes sense to use wooden doors only as a street door when stylization is required for the facade of the building. In this case, the second door, for example, located in the vestibule, must be a metal door.

Metal-plastic door leafs are best used as doors on the second and subsequent floors of the building. For example, for access to an open or closed terrace.

Frame and cladding materials

Structurally, the entrance metal door consists of a supporting frame and sheathing, which is attached on both sides and is used to protect the insulating materials and locking mechanisms. And also the skin serves as a surface for applying and attaching decorative materials: paint, panels, mirrors.

For the manufacture of metal entrance doors, a profile pipe 40x25, 40x40, 40x50 mm and sheet steel is used, which is obtained during the hot or cold rolling method. The profile pipe is cut to the required dimensions into blanks of the appropriate length, which are welded into a single frame. Sometimes a steel corner or channel is used to create a frame.

General arrangement of a metal entrance door from the budget segment

To reinforce the structure of the door leaf, stiffeners are used, which are vertical and horizontal elements welded with a certain step. In some models of doors, the ribs are welded both vertically and horizontally, and at an angle, which makes it impossible to bend the door leaf when breaking.

Sheet steel obtained during hot rolling is more accessible and has a dark color. The cold-rolled steel alloy is light and looks like a regular galvanized sheet, but its cost is much higher. For the production of cheap doors, only hot-rolled steel is used, which makes the products more susceptible to corrosion.

Doors from the middle and luxury segments use only cold-rolled alloys, which is the best solution in terms of price-quality ratio. Products, especially after appropriate treatment with paint or spraying, endure the effects of moisture and low temperatures.

To determine which steel was used in the manufacture of the door, it is necessary to find markings for compliance with GOST in the instructions. Cold-rolled steel corresponds to document No. 19903, and hot-rolled steel - No. 19904.

The main elements in the design of the entrance metal door include a locking system, hinges and surveillance

The thickness of the door skin is regulated in accordance with regulatory documents. In the Russian Federation, this is GOST 31173–2003, according to which the thickness of the front skin of a metal door should not be less than 1.5 mm.

With this in mind, we can distinguish the following classification of metal doors according to the thickness of the skin:

  • 0.8–1.5 mm - products made in China or in handicrafts. They do not belong to the class of entrance doors, although the manufacturer labels this product that way. In fact, doors with a sheathing up to 1.5 mm are suitable for outbuildings or country houses, where, apart from furniture, utensils and garden tools, nothing more valuable is stored;
  • 1.6–2.5 mm - typical entrance doors with hot-rolled sheet metal sheathing. They are used as doors leading from an apartment to an entrance room, corridor or vestibule to several apartments. Door leafs with 2.5 mm thick sheathing can already be considered as the second entrance door to a private house, leading directly to the living room or hallway;
  • 2.6-4 mm - the optimal thickness of the skin for outdoor entrance doors intended for use in private houses, cottages, mansions, etc. For houses where they do not live permanently, it is better to install doors with the maximum possible thickness. Especially if the building is located not in a suburban cooperative, but at a distance from other houses.

The greater the thickness of the products of the supporting frame and sheathing, the greater the weight and cost of the door leaf. And the point is not only in the final volume of the material used, but also in the assembly technology, which is necessary to create a reinforced door frame. In addition, a heavy door requires the use of high-quality and more expensive hinges. The standard weight of an entrance metal door varies from 50–70 kg, depending on the manufacturer.

Door frame, architraves and platbands

The reliability of the front door depends not only on the rigidity, strength and massiveness of the door leaf, but also on the door frame, the workmanship of which directly affects the burglary resistance.

The door frame can have a different shape depending on the materials from which it is made, as well as the design of the mounted door.

The door frame can be made from the following products:

  • steel corner - from 50x50 mm in size. The wall thickness of the product is not less than 3 mm. The door frame from the corner is the simplest and smallest, but when installing doors in an apartment, it is practically not used due to its unreliability. This option is best used for outbuildings;
  • profile pipe - section 40x25, 40x40, 50x25 mm and more. The more massive the door, the more durable the pipe is required to make the box. Unlike the first option, a box made of a pipe allows you to lay a complete insulation, which increases the sound and heat insulation qualities of the door. More often this box is used in cases where it is required to save as much as possible on door installation;
  • bent steel profile - a bent-welded box made of a special profile made on bending machines. The wall thickness of a bent profile most often does not exceed 1.5 mm, since an increase in sheet thickness greatly complicates the bending technology. Most often, this type of box is used when installing entrance doors to an apartment, where it is possible to expand the doorway.

Some types of entrance doors can be equipped with porches, which are most often characteristic of interior doors. The manufacture of porches is carried out at the stage of fastening the front skin in the form of a sheet of metal. To create a vestibule, the size of the skin is increased so that a “fold” is formed along the perimeter of the door, overlapping the joint between the door leaf and the frame.

For the manufacture of door platbands, it is used: solid wood, MDF, PVC, metal. The specific type of platbands is selected strictly at the request of the owner of the home. Ideally, if the trims and platbands match in color or contrast with it. The material of manufacture does not play a special role, but for street doors it is better to choose products made of metal or PVC - they are more durable.

Types of heaters used

The void in the frame of the front door between the skin must be filled with some kind of insulating material. Doors from Chinese manufacturers use pressed cardboard or corrugated board, which does not have outstanding characteristics, which makes these doors completely unsuitable for use in homes located near a busy highway.

Mineral wool in slabs 5 cm thick is used to insulate budget metal doors.

The following types of sound and heat insulating materials are used in branded doors from quality manufacturers:

  • felt (0.047 W / (m * K)) - a natural insulation made from wool. It has excellent thermal insulation qualities, but is very hygroscopic, which requires the use of additional layers of reflective insulation;
  • mineral wool (0.048 W / (m * K)) is a traditional type of insulating material used both for insulating facades and walls of houses, and for insulating entrance doors. Like felt, mineral wool absorbs moisture, vapors and condensate well, which does not have the best effect on the durability of the front door;
  • expanded polystyrene (0.047 W / (m * K)) is a modern and modernized analogue of polystyrene used to isolate various surfaces. It has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity, does not absorb moisture, does not rot, which makes it one of the best materials for insulating door panels;
  • polyurethane foam (0.035 W / (m * K)) is a synthetic sound and heat insulating material with high insulating qualities. Perfectly fills the free space, practically without forming "cold bridges", does not absorb moisture, does not rot, does not burn. It is the best material for door insulation.

When listing materials, the coefficient of thermal conductivity was indicated in brackets. In addition, a foamed polystyrene-based insulation with a reflective foil surface is used as a vapor barrier material. The material is laid over the main insulator on both sides of the door.

It not only helps to increase the insulating qualities of the door leaf, but also significantly extends the life of the insulation inside the door, preventing moisture from penetrating directly to the material.

Which loops are best to use

Hinges are one of the important elements of fittings, the quality of which determines not only the durability of the door leaf, but also the comfort of daily use of the door. Creaking, extraneous noise when opening, drawdown of the door, problems with closing - all this is a direct consequence of incorrectly selected and installed hinges.

Hiding the hinge significantly increases the final cost of the front door

According to GOST 5088–2005, metal entrance doors must be equipped with one of the following types of hinges:

  • simple hinges without bearing - for installing entrance doors to an apartment and private houses are not used due to their high wear resistance. In addition, over time, the door begins to creak and sag. Usually, they are used for arranging doors to technical rooms and buildings of a similar type;
  • hinges with an internal ball bearing - a classic version of door hinges, consisting of two frame "wings". Between the steel fingers of the "wings" there is a ball that acts as a support. This element contributes to easier opening and closing of the door leaf, as it reduces the friction between the fingers of the hinge;
  • hinges with bearing - inside the hinge cylinder there is a support-radial bearing, which minimizes the friction of the hinge fingers when moving the door leaf. As a result, hinge wear is almost completely eliminated even with a lack of lubrication inside the structure.

According to the method of installation, the hinges are divided into external and hidden. Both types are used to install entrance doors, but door panels equipped with hidden door hinges are much more expensive. Due to the design of the hidden hinges and their fit in the door frame, there are several drawbacks that will have to be considered when installing the door.

For example, doors with hidden hinges reduce the doorway by about 5–7 cm. The standard door opening angle is 90 °, so it can be difficult to bring large and dimensional objects into the house. Internal loops have a "shoulder". During opening, a force moment is created, which, if the door leaf is moved inaccurately, can lead to deformation of the door frame.

External loops are practically devoid of flaws. The only thing is that they are located outside at the top and bottom of the door. This gives the cracker easy access to them. However, for most metal doors from branded manufacturers, the hinges are made of high-strength steel, which makes it much more difficult to cut them with a grinder or other power tool.

Features of locking mechanisms

Locks for metal doors are distinguished by a variety of designs, but when choosing a suitable locking mechanism, you should focus strictly on its workmanship, declared service life, strength and reliability in accordance with regulatory documents.

The manufacturer of the lock does not really matter. The main thing - it is worth remembering that the quality of the castle directly determines its value. The higher the burglary resistance class, the higher the cost of the lock. This is true for all locks of well-known brands.

Mortise lock firm Guardian 21.12 T with protection against burglary and drilling

The burglary resistance class of the lock is determined according to the following principle:

  • 1st class - break-in time ≈ 5 m;
  • 2 class - break-in time from 5 to 15 m;
  • 3 class - break-in time more than 15 m;
  • Class 4 - break-in time over 30 m.

The stability class is determined according to GOST 5089–2003 and GOST 5089–2011. For example, the simplest lock from the Guardian company, the leader in the production of metal doors in the Russian Federation, has class 2 stability. Most of the products of this manufacturer have class 4.

The second important point when choosing a lock is secrecy. Many sellers intentionally mislead buyers that the lock, even with low secrecy, is almost impossible to break.

In fact, the secrecy of a lock is a collective concept that includes both the number of combinations, protection against hacking with a master key, reliability, and the likelihood of matching keys. You should choose only locks with high secrecy. This will give an additional guarantee that the product will not fail at the right time.

The last condition to consider when choosing a lock is the method of installation and the type of locking mechanism. According to the method of installation, locks for metal doors are divided into mortise and overhead. The first ones are easy to install, but less resistant to burglary, because an attacker can get to the lock by sawing off the door trim.

The Guardian padlock 20.05 has a burglary resistance class 4 and a 5-year warranty

Overhead locks are more reliable, but require a strong door frame and reinforcement of its attachment point. After installation, the lock is located on the side of the apartment, which makes it impossible to access it, but due to its technology, installations are not used as often as mortise locks.

Types of locking mechanisms are divided into lever and cylinder. From the point of view of the consumer, there is no fundamental difference. Locks of both types must be manufactured in accordance with GOST, which guarantees their high burglary resistance. For example, the same Guardian company has locks with both types of locking mechanisms.

Elements of external control

Under the elements of external control is meant the presence of special products and devices that allow you to monitor the territory or area near the front door. This will allow you to verify the identity of the people to whom the owner of the dwelling opens the door.

A video peephole for the front door is the best solution, especially if it is equipped with a Wi-Fi module for image transmission

The basic devices that should be the equipment of the front door of a private house include the following:

  • door peephole - it can be either an ordinary optical peephole or modern electronic peepholes with a separate display, a Wi-Fi module and a special smartphone application. The second devices are more preferable, but their cost is an order of magnitude higher;
  • surveillance camera - one or more video surveillance devices installed in front of the door or in close proximity to the porch of the house. This, as mentioned above, allows you to identify the identity of people and their number when they want to get into your house or come to visit.

If an ordinary peephole is used when installing the front door, then it is strongly recommended to buy a product with armored protective glass. Otherwise, the peephole will be broken sooner or later.

When choosing outdoor surveillance cameras, it is not necessary to use professional equipment that is used to protect warehouses, specialized buildings and government agencies. If the house has Internet, then you can use several IP cameras that will record what is happening directly on the computer's hard drive. It's easier, more convenient and cheaper. In addition, they can be installed independently using just the user manual that comes with the kit.

How the door frame and front door are attached

Installation of the entrance metal door is carried out according to the technology provided for by regulatory documents and the manufacturer. Usually, most door manufacturers have their own installation instructions, which are attached to the door leaf with all additional elements.

The door frame of the front door is mounted in a pre-prepared doorway

To perform the work, you will need to prepare a grinder with a metal disc, a small sledgehammer, a hammer with a comfortable handle, a drill with a set of drills, a screwdriver with a set of bits, a level, a square and a pencil. And you will also need mounting foam, fasteners and personal protective equipment. Installation work should be carried out by two people.

The general installation technology consists of the following steps:

  1. The old door leaf is removed and the door frame is dismantled using a grinder with a metal disk. If necessary, a sledgehammer is used.
  2. The doorway is cleared of dirt, old plaster, protruding sections of brick. If the size of the opening is insufficient, then it is expanded with an improvised tool and a grinder with a disc for concrete.

    The door frame is fastened to the wall of the doorway using steel rods.

  3. The new door frame is installed in the doorway and leveled to plumb or level. For fixing in the opening, small spacer wedges made of a wooden block are used.
  4. On the hinge side, mounting holes are drilled at the top, bottom and in the middle of the rack. For this, an electric drill with a drill bit is used. Hole depth at least 150 mm.
  5. The door leaf is fastened with fixing plates and pins, which are supplied in the kit. After that, it is necessary to hang the door and check the correct operation of the lock and the tightness of closing.

    The installation of an entrance metal door should be carried out only with a partner, since the weight of the door leaf can reach 70–80 kg

  6. Next, the door leaf is removed and holes for fasteners are prepared from the bottom and top of the door. Fastening the box and checking the tightness of the clamp is carried out in the same way.
  7. To fill the gap between the opening and the box, mounting foam, heat-insulating materials and cement mortar are used. The slopes are plastered with an overlap on the box.

During the drying period of the plaster, care should be taken not to slam the door hard. After drying, you can clean the door frame from the influx of plaster and carry out additional finishing. It should be noted that heavy doors may have some nuances in the installation technology. Therefore, if you are going to mount the door yourself, then carefully study the attached instructions before carrying out work.

The choice of the front door should be considered on the basis of the criteria that were described at the beginning of the material. First of all, the door is selected based on reliability and size. The concept of reliability includes both the materials for the manufacture of the door leaf, and its design, compliance with the applicable standards, burglary resistance, etc.

Torex entrance doors are reliable, have high performance and excellent appearance

Based on this, entrance metal doors can be grouped into the following segments:

  • economy - price from 6 to 12 thousand rubles. Many companies have trade lines in this price segment. Among the popular brands, it should be noted the doors Stealth, Harmony, Triumph, Valberg, etc.;
  • medium - price from 12 to 20 thousand rubles. In this group, the choice of manufacturers is no less than in the budget segment. Among the proven manufacturers, one can note the products of the company Titan, Bravo, Maestro, Outpost, etc.;
  • premium - price from 20 thousand rubles or more. In fact, the premium segment is unlimited in value at all. Doors even for 40 thousand rubles are very different in quality from products for 70 thousand rubles. Among the manufacturers, one can note the already mentioned company Guardian, Torex, Jaguar, Dierre, Persona and many others.

If you choose a door without unnecessary frills with a long service life, then we recommend that you consider buying a product from Torex. These are very high quality doors at a reasonable price. Before buying, read all the available reviews on the selected door leaf on the Internet. This will avoid acquiring doors with a factory defect that may appear during operation, but such cases are extremely rare.

Even sudden changes in temperature do not affect the microclimate in the room. The thickness of the insulation is 50-70 millimeters. Such a warm door to a wooden house is completely hermetic, as the slots and joints are treated with a rubberized base.

What to look for when choosing a front door for a wooden house

First of all, you should pay attention to the door material. Pine breeds are softer, resistant to different environmental conditions.

Oak belongs to premium materials due to the characteristics of the density of the tree itself. It is almost impossible to damage or break the base, therefore, external wooden doors for a private house made of oak are more expensive, justifying their cost with durability.

Most often they are produced in the form of a paneled structure.

Important: Particular attention should be paid to fittings and decorated inserts made of metal.

They must be coated with a special base that protects the surface from fading or corrosion. Often designs have an inserted double-glazed window as a decorative addition. When choosing, be guided by the number of cameras: there must be at least two. With an increased budget, count on buying a solid door rather than a prefabricated one.

Solid wood doors for a private house

Solid wood entrance doors for a private house are made from solid wood of different species: oak, pine, alder and others. Their advantage lies in a number of properties that are inherent only in natural materials. For example, high-quality insulation and heat preservation in the house at any time of the year. Also, the one-piece base does not allow air to pass through and significantly strengthens the door. The thickness of the wooden case can be from 2.5 centimeters.

Products from the massif easily transfer moisture. Even constant contact with rain or snow throughout the year does not spoil the appearance of the material and does not reduce its performance. Entrance doors of this type can be additionally reinforced with metal elements, decorated with fittings, gratings on the glazing.

What are the disadvantages of entrance wooden doors

Doors for a wooden house or a brick building have one main drawback - average resistance to moisture. This property of doors made of natural material is worse than that of metal elements. Wood fibers with sudden changes in temperature can collapse, and the array itself will be covered with small cracks.

Fortunately, modern paints and varnishes allow you to create a durable protective layer on the surface of the tree, so damage is not terrible. The main thing is not to choose the most budget options. After 10 years of operation, you may notice difficulties with opening or closing the door. In this case, you will need to use a hand tool to correct the shape.

Advice: Most of the wooden models serve up to 20 years, after which their appearance partially loses its attractiveness. Regular care will help extend the life of your products.

Classification of wooden entrance doors

There are three main types:

  1. From a solid array
  2. from pine
  3. From the glued array

The first option consists of 95-100 percent of the natural wood species described above. It is carved from whole pieces of trees. The solid array belongs to the premium category of material, since its production requires only large trees of the highest grade without knots and other defects. The necessary elements are cut out on professional equipment.

The glued array is created from several prefabricated wooden parts. The shape of the door and its structure is made by cutting out the necessary elements on the machines with their further gluing.

Pine - a universal option that is used not only for houses, apartments, cottages and baths. The tree of this breed is affordable, and therefore belongs to more budgetary materials than oak, walnut or alder. The softness and texture make it suitable for outdoor installation, but the service life of such doors is reduced to 15-20 years, while oak doors can last up to 40 years.

How to choose the right hardware for wooden doors

Knowing which doors to choose for a wooden house is better, you can purchase the best option on a limited budget. However, fittings also affect the durability, ease of use of doors. It is presented in the form of a lock, closers, if necessary, loops. The last elements must have some properties:

  • Be hidden and maintenance-free (choose models that do not need to be periodically lubricated);
  • Have an anti-removable pin;
  • Have a welded contour of the main cylinder.

Locks should have several protection systems, and metal handles are desirable due to mechanical stability. Each element must be made of galvanized steel, aluminum or have a special protective coating.
