Millet porridge with chicken. Recipe: Millet porridge with chicken in a frying pan - with vegetables

For some reason, millet is usually treated as a cereal, which is more suitable for sweet porridge, which is usually eaten in the morning. However, millet is also very good for dinner, as it goes well with various vegetables and meat. I suggest cooking millet porridge with chicken and vegetables in a frying pan. It is worth noting that millet cereals have a large number of beneficial properties and help cleanse and detoxify the body, so for those who do not like sweet cereals, this dish will come in handy.

Finely chop the onion and place it in a frying pan without using oil. Fry it a little until golden brown.

Cut the carrots into slices using a curly knife. Chop the celery stalk and send these vegetables to fry in a frying pan with the onions.

Next, add one tablespoon of homemade tomato sauce from tomatoes in their own juice to the frying pan.

We wash half a glass of millet cereal in several waters until the water becomes clear, and then put it in a frying pan with the vegetables.

Stir the contents of the frying pan and fill it with the prepared chicken broth. You can use plain water instead of broth, but this will somewhat deplete the taste of the finished dish.

The last thing to go into the frying pan is finely chopped boiled chicken fillet. I had both red and white chicken meat - from the boiled frame and breast.

Add a little red hot pepper and salt to taste.

Cover the pan with a lid and simmer the millet porridge with chicken fillet and vegetables over medium heat until the water is completely absorbed.

Serve the prepared millet porridge with chicken and vegetables, garnishing it with fresh red onions, which will add spiciness and piquancy to the dish.

A little chicken meat, vegetables, a glass of millet cereal - and soon millet porridge with chicken is blazing hot on your table. This dish will become your lifesaver!

I think many housewives pay tribute to dishes in which meat or fish are cooked with some kind of porridge: side dish and meat in one dish. The most famous such dish is, of course, pilaf, but not only rice can claim the title of supercereal. The other day in the store I came across a bag of millet, and I decided to cook something tasty from this cereal. This is how we got a wonderful, uncomplicated, fairly quickly prepared dish - wheat porridge with chicken. For variety, I decided to add a little. I'm sure this added a few more points to the porridge. In favor of this dish, I hasten to say that it is well received by children: millet is more tender than rice and is not as dry as buckwheat. Millet porridge with chicken turns out crumbly, golden yellow, slightly sweet due to the carrots and juicy due to the mushrooms.

Just recently, I saw an interesting recipe from one of my friends on a culinary website. Millet was cooked with chicken, but not in a slow cooker, but in a pot)))) I immediately imagined how tasty it should turn out, satisfying and rich. Therefore, I immediately decided to cook this dish, but not in a pot, but with the help of my favorite kitchen assistant - a Panasonic-18 multicooker with a bowl capacity of 4.5 liters. and power 670W. So, let's get started:

Required:

  • Chicken - any parts (I have 2 wings, 2 drumsticks and 2 thighs).
  • Millet - 2 multi cups (you can add the amount of grain as you require. I prepared a small amount for testing)
  • Water (or any broth) - 4 multi glasses (cook in a ratio of 1:2 - 1 part cereal and 2 parts water)
  • Carrots - 1 pc. (I have a very large one)
  • Onion - 1 pc. (large onion)
  • Prunes - to taste (this is an optional ingredient)
  • Salt - to taste.
  • Vegetable oil - for frying meat and vegetables.
  • Bay leaf - optional - 1-2 pcs.
  • Greens - to taste (to decorate the dish)

How to cook millet with chicken in a slow cooker.

Millet (if required) - sort through. Fill with water and wash until clean water several times.
Pour vegetable oil into the multicooker bowl, add prepared portioned pieces of chicken, and fry in the BAKE mode until golden brown.
Next, add chopped onions and carrots.
Mix everything and add salt to taste.
Place the washed, prepared millet in the multicooker bowl and fill it with water (or broth). Add salt to taste and bay leaf. If desired, you can immediately add chopped herbs or any seasoning. I do not do this. We switch the multicooker to the BUCKWHEAT (or PILAF) mode and press START. The multicooker will measure the cooking time for millet and chicken. These are automatic programs.

After about 20 minutes, I open the lid and add the washed prunes - I just put a few berries on top. If you cook without adding dried fruits, you will not need this item. You cook until the end with the lid closed. When the cooking time is up, the multicooker will notify us. From the specified volume of ingredients, my multicooker cooked for about 45-50 minutes.
The cereal was cooked very well, cooked through and became very tender, soaked in chicken broth. Now it’s time to serve millet with chicken and prunes. We lay out the millet in portions on plates and serve. As a salad, I served sliced fresh cucumbers and tomatoes. It turned out to be a very tasty and satisfying dinner - we liked it. Sometimes, for a change, you can cook millet with chicken or any meat of your choice in a slow cooker.

Svetlana and my family wish you bon appetit website!
