Russian singers of the 80s, the list of which is the subject of this review, made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet and Russian pop music: their songs were included in the golden fund of Russian music. Many of them are still popular with modern audiences, despite the change in musical styles and trends. Just like Western European artists, they tried themselves in a wide variety of genres and styles. Russian singers of the 80s (list, photos are presented in this work) are interesting because their work is unique in its originality and musical characteristics.

Yuri Antonov

This composer and performer of his own songs became one of the most famous figures in pop music of the Soviet era. His works are distinguished by their soulfulness and optimism, which earned him the love of the entire USSR. The author's topics are very diverse: from friendship to love lyrics. The melodies of his compositions have a wide range of sounds. In addition, his music can be called dance music: perhaps that is why it is so popular among young people these days.

Nikolay Rastorguev

Russian singers of the 80s, the list of which should be supplemented with the name of the leader of the group “LUBE”, are interesting for their originality. The creativity of each of them is unique and inimitable, so the performers are very easy to distinguish from each other. In this series, Rastorguev’s work takes pride of place: its themes, as a rule, are patriotic and military. In addition, his repertoire includes songs dedicated to the nature of Russia, as well as a number of lyrical compositions on the theme of love and friendship.

In this sense, the author’s soundtracks are universal: they will always find their audience. The combination of simplicity, depth of music and performance makes his compositions understandable and accessible to any viewer. His songs and music are reminiscent of folk art and therefore are close to everyone. Proof of the popularity of the author and his team is that his songs became the musical accompaniment of films.

Oleg Gazmanov

Russian singers of the 80s, the list of which was constantly replenished with new performers, left a noticeable mark on the history of Russian culture. Special mention should be made of Gazmanov's songs, which, like Antonov's songs, are distinguished by their extraordinary optimism, cheerfulness and cheerfulness. In addition, the singer is also interested in military themes: a number of his compositions are dedicated to the glorification of military feats. His comic songs, which occupy a prominent place in his repertoire, are also popular. The actor created his own group, writes music himself, actively performs at concerts, almost always accompanying his performances with complex acrobatic exercises.

Igor Nikolaev

The composer and songwriter began his career in the Soviet years and now continues to enjoy constant popularity among viewers and listeners. His compositions are distinguished by soulful sound and amazing melody, which make his songs so recognizable. The author's theme is lyrical. These are songs primarily about love, but also about friendship. Initially, the artist wrote for A. Pugacheva, but later very quickly gained popularity as a performer of his own songs.

Eduard Khil

The Russian singers of the 80s, the list of which is quite wide, differed from each other not only in their repertoire and variety of genres, but also in their completely original vocal skills. Khil had a wonderful baritone and sang in opera, but perhaps gained his greatest popularity as a pop performer. A strong, soulful voice allowed him to perform complex compositions and at the same time gave a special sound to songs that later became hits. In this regard, the artist’s work can be compared with the performances of Magomayev, who, being an opera singer, also became a pop performer. It is significant that both had an excellent baritone (the latter also sang as a tenor), so it is not surprising that the best Soviet composers wrote music especially for them.

M. Magomaev

Russian singers of the 80s, a list of men among whom it is impossible to imagine without the name of this wonderful artist, were remembered by the mass audience not only for their repertoire, but also for their outstanding vocal skill. This is exactly what Magomayev’s work was like. He began with the classical repertoire, taking parts from operas by both domestic and foreign performers. His voice amazes with its richness of shades, which determined the diversity of his repertoire, which includes classical and pop numbers.

The singers of the 80s and 90s are remembered on the Soviet and Russian stage. The list, in which Russians occupy a place of honor, was constantly replenished with new names. After the collapse of the USSR, the stage became an arena for the creativity of many new artists who are still continuing their careers. Their songs and music are very different from modern music, which places greater emphasis on orchestration techniques and digital processing of instrumentation.

Many people remember their childhood and youth with nostalgia. This is why performers from the 80s and 90s (Russians) are popular. The list can be continued almost endlessly. After all, at that time there were many active singers of different genres. They have enjoyed success for many years. There were also those whose fame faded after one hit. Here are some short lists of performers who were popular in the eighties and nineties.

Performers of songs of the 80-90s (Russian): list of men

During this time, there were many singers who became famous for performing several hits. In the first list we did not include men who are now stage veterans and continue to actively tour. We will only talk about those who are currently undeservedly forgotten, although many of these singers are trying to repeat their past success:

These are not all popular performers of the 80-90s (Russian). The list can be continued almost endlessly. We chose only the brightest stars of that time, ignoring the talented Zhenya Belousov and Evgeny Osin. To this day, such singers as Philip Kirkorov, Valery Leontyev and Oleg Gazmanov perform.

Russian performers of the 80-90s: list of women

The stage of that time consisted of almost 70% women. In those years, the country listened to the songs of Irina Allegrova and Tatyana Bulanova. Dance hits were performed by Lada Dance. Soulful songs with a folk touch belonged to Nadezhda Kadysheva and her namesake Nadezhda Babkina.

The hits were sung by Russian performers from the 80s and 90s. The list consisted of people who made it through their talent alone, and those in whose “promotion” a lot of money was invested. Alsou and Lena Zosimova were called the “golden” children of show business in those years. These singers were promoted at the expense of their fathers, although it cannot be said that they did not have talent. The singers of one hit were Marina Khlebnikova and Natalie. Although the latter recently released a new song that captivated the whole country - the hit “Oh God, what a man!”

The most famous groups of the 80-90s

The real breakthrough at that time was the success of the group “Tender May”. This first boy band broke a lot of girls' hearts. On tour, the team packed stadiums. Several lineups of the group even traveled around the country, the singers in which were vaguely similar to the original performers. By analogy with this group, many singers began performing to a soundtrack.

There were other successful performers of the 80-90s (Russians). The list of groups, for example, looks incomplete without mentioning Bari Alibasov’s project “Na-na”. The team captivated the audience with their sexuality. Young men sometimes performed in costumes consisting of one bunch of bananas. In addition to these brightest groups, the country in those years listened to the songs of the following groups: “Combination”, “Kar-man”, “Hands Up”, “Nancy”, “Gaza Strip”, “Russian Size” and “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels”. Many of these groups subsequently broke up and gave rise to solo projects.

(by the way, I agree with many commentators - not everyone was included in the rating deservedly, and some were not included at all), and today I propose to take a look at the sexiest singers of the 90s - what they were then and now. The selection, again, turned out to be quite subjective, but such singers as Natalya Vetlitskaya, Lada Dance, Irina Saltykova were without a doubt sex symbols of the 90s.

Natalia Vetlitskaya

She was remembered for the song “Look into your eyes,” where Natalya demonstrates her dancing rather than vocal talents. But how much grace she had! Vetlitskaya's makeup from the video and her hairstyle became real hits. In 1996 he released the album “Slave of Love”. Natalia presented the ideal of youth and sexuality with her entire appearance: a short skirt showing off her flawless legs, a bustier, and huge hoop earrings. How teenagers loved this style! And in “MuzOboz” she appeared in almost every issue

Lada Dance

The most famous songs: “Girl of the Night”, “You need to live in high spirits”, “Reggae in the night”, “I won’t be with you”. Lada on stage diligently justified her pseudonym with desperate dances. In “Reggae in the Night” or “You Need to Live in Thrills” there are all the attributes of a beautiful life of that time: a yacht, a convertible, and even a black actor.

Lika Star

Lika has been interested in music since childhood and dreamed of singing on big stages. She worked as a DJ. In the early 90s, in collaboration with producer Sergei Obukhov, she released her debut single “BBC Taxi”, followed by the album “Rap”.
The singer and her producer maintained the image of a shocking and somewhat scandalous star. Lika Star became one of the first domestic artists to pose nude for the Russian version of the world famous Playboy magazine. In 1994, Lika made a very candid video for the song “Let It Rain,” filmed at that time by aspiring director Fyodor Bondarchuk.

Linda

At first, the author of music for Linda was composer Maxim Fadeev. After breaking up with Fadeev, Linda began writing songs on her own, and also collaborated with such authors as Evgeny Pozdnyakov, Mara and Lyubasha. During her career, the singer sold more than 3 million copies of albums in Russia, including “Songs of Tibetan Lamas” - 250 thousand, “Crow” - 1.5 million, “Crow. Remake & Remix" - 500 thousand, "Linda" - 100 thousand, "Ataka" - 500 thousand, "AleAda" - 125 thousand, "Skor-Peonies" - 85 thousand.

Irina Saltykova

On February 1, 1995, she recorded her first song, “Gray Eyes,” to the music of Oleg Molchanov, who previously worked with Natalya Vetlitskaya and wrote her hit “Playboy,” and lyrics by Arkady Slavorosov.
To record her first album, the singer had to pawn jewelry and her own apartment in Moscow. With the money she received, she recorded her first album, “Gray Eyes,” and a video clip for the song of the same name. Saltykova relies on sexuality and therefore the video turns out to be quite provocative for that time. Irina herself says that “Gray eyes are my calling card.” Two weeks after the video goes on television, Irina begins to receive offers from record companies to buy the album. The singer gave preference to the Soyuz studio and in mid-1995 her first album was released, which became a bestseller, becoming the second best-selling album of 1995, second only to Alla Pugacheva’s album.
For her very frank sexuality, she was even nicknamed the Russian Pamela Andersen. In 1997, Saltykova posed for the cover of Playboy and the magazine’s circulation had to be reprinted several times. “Blue Eyes” became the singer’s most famous video.

Larisa Chernikova

From 1980 to 1990 she sang in the church choir of the Epiphany Cathedral in Yelokhov, Moscow. In 1990 she entered the Gnessin Music College, then transferred to the Institute of Culture, from which she graduated with honors in 1997. In 1992, she joined the Nadezhda Babkina Folk Song Ensemble, with which she performed for a year and a half.
In 1994, she married 27-year-old businessman Andrei Chernikov. Her husband supported Larisa in her singing career, renting a studio to record his wife’s albums. Two years after their wedding, on April 3, 1996, her husband was killed.
Larisa dedicated a song called “Who?!..” to Andrey, and the basis for the plot of the video for this song was the tragic events associated with his murder. The young widow also dedicated her second album, released in 1996, entitled “Give Me the Night,” to her husband.

Tatiana Ovsienko

Graduated from the Kiev College of Hotel Management (1987, specialist in organizing hotel services). She worked as an administrator at the Bratislava Hotel in Kyiv. In 1988, I met Natalya Vetlitskaya, the lead singer of the musical group Mirage, who lived in Bratislava during a tour. At the suggestion of Natalya Vetlitskaya, she entered Mirage as a costume designer.
After Natalia Vetlitskaya left Mirage at the end of 1988, Ovsienko became the lead singer of the group along with Irina Saltykova. Like most other soloists in the group, she performed to the soundtrack of M. Sukhankina. She worked in the group until the end of 1990, when she was replaced by a new soloist, Ekaterina Boldysheva. After Tatyana Ovsienko left the group, there was criticism in the press about the fact that all the soloists sang to the soundtrack of another performer. Since Ovsienko was the “face” of the group, she became the main object of criticism.
Since 1991, she performed with her group “Voyage”; released several music albums together with songwriter Viktor Chaika. During this period, the main rise in the singer's popularity occurred.

Angelica Varum

In 1990, at the request of her father, she recorded the song “Midnight Cowboy,” which quickly became a hit. With the same song, the singer made her debut in the Morning Star program and in the Olimpiysky.
In 1991, the singer’s first disc, “Good Bye, my boy,” was released. The songs “The Boy Next Door” and “Good Bye, My Boy” became hits, and the video for the song “Whistle Man” was remembered for its vivid video and the phrase “So sad that I want to smoke,” which became a catchphrase.
Two years later, Angelica recorded the album “La-la-fa”, which quickly became popular, consisting of eleven songs, including the song that gave the album its name and the song “The Artist Who Paints the Rain” (written after meeting Oleg Ladonezhsky, the author of the lyrics - Kirill Krastoshevsky), for which the first video was shot by director Oleg Gusev. The song “Town” in the album became one of the singer’s “calling cards”. In 1994, Angelica reached the finals of the Song of the Year festival for the first time.
At the beginning of 1995, the disc “Favorites” was released, which can be called a summing up of five years on stage. A little later in the same year, the album “Autumn Jazz” was released - stylish and bright, which won the Ovation Award as “Best Album” of 1995, the video of the same name became “Best Video” of 1995, and Anzhelika Varum was recognized as “Best Singer” » 1995.

Natalie

In 1993 she came to Moscow and a year later, under the pseudonym “Natalie,” she released her first album, “The Little Mermaid,” in which she appeared as a performer and author of almost all the songs.
Following the 1995 single “Pink Dawn,” with only three new songs, the following year the second album “Snow Rose” appeared, which sold more copies than “The Little Mermaid.” In 1996, Natalie’s first video for the song “Snow Rose” was released.
Natalie gained popularity in the country in 1997 with the song “The Wind Blowed from the Sea” and the album of the same name. At the end of 1997, this song entered the top five most popular at that time and became the singer’s calling card. The album was released in record numbers

Yulia Nachalova

In 1992, she won the TV competition “Morning Star” and was invited to host the musical children’s program “Tam-Tam News.”
In 1995, Yulia’s first album, “Oh, school, school,” was released. In the same year, Yulia Nachalova took part in the international vocal competition “Big Apple-95”, where she won the Grand Prix. In 1997 she took part in the music program “Two Pianos”.
Since then, her popularity has grown: she was the host of the Saturday Night program and the Zvezda channel.

Svetlana Vladimirskaya

After graduating from school, she entered the Moscow Music College named after the October Revolution in the “choir conductor” class. After graduating from college in the early 1990s, she became the lead singer of the group “Cleopatra”. She began her solo career in 1992. In the future, she met with producer Mark Bolshoi, known for his work with Vladimir Kuzmin, Olga Kormukhina, the Lyube group and others. Subsequently she married him. The singer achieved fame after her song “My Boy.” In 1994, Vladimirskaya was recognized as singer of the year. By 1995, she was one of the most sought-after pop performers in Russia. After the rise of her popularity, in 1998, the singer unexpectedly left with her husband for the Krasnoyarsk Territory, to the village of Cheremshanka. The ORT TV channel showed that she was in Vissarion’s community. The singer then returned to show business in 2004.

Alexander Barykin, a famous Russian singer, was born on February 18, 1952. Today he would have turned 62 years old. Unfortunately, the artist passed away in 2011.

The peak of Alexander Barykin’s popularity occurred in the eighties. We decided to remember his work, as well as other brightest domestic performers of that time.

Alexander was born in the village of Berezovo, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, but as a child he and his family moved to the town of Lyubertsy near Moscow. He began studying music while still in school, organizing his first group in high school and performing with it on dance floors. It was then that he wrote the first songs and poems. It is interesting that, having already become popular, he very rarely allowed himself to perform songs based on his own poems.

Barykin graduated from the vocal department of Gnesinka, and then in absentia from the Krasnodar Institute of Culture.

His professional career began in 1973. At first, he performed in various groups - “Muscovites”, “Jolly Fellows”, “Gems”. In 1979, he organized the Carnival group, in which he performed together with Vladimir Kuzmin. The team became incredibly popular, however, it broke up and reassembled, but without Kuzmin. With Barykin as a soloist, he became truly stellar.

In the early nineties, the artist began to have problems with his ligaments, and he was temporarily forced to interrupt performances and recordings, returning only in the 2000s.

The most famous songs: “Bouquet”, “Airport”, “TV program for tomorrow”, “20.00”, “Beyond that river”, “Miracle Island”.

VLADIMIR KUZMIN

Already at the age of 5, he took up the guitar, studied violin at a music school, wrote his first song at the age of 6, and organized his first group in middle school. After school, Kuzmin went to the Dnepropetrovsk Glinka Music College, where he chose the flute as an instrument.

He began his career by participating in various groups, the most popular of which was Carnival, which he founded together with Alexander Barykin. The artist’s collaboration with Alla Pugacheva added considerable success. He was the soloist of her song theater “Recital”, wrote songs for Prima Donna and, of course, sang with her.

In 1987, he embarked on a solo voyage, which he continues to successfully do to this day. In total, he has about 20 albums and more than 200 songs.

However, he left it and created his first ensemble, and then nevertheless went to the Tambov cultural and educational school, and from there to the Moscow Institute of Culture.

Glyzin performed in the groups “Good Fellows”, “Gems”, “Rhythm”, but “Merry Fellows” brought him real fame. The group performed at many music festivals and competitions and gave the public a lot of hits.

Igor dreamed of studying at Gnesinka, but was unable to enroll and, at the insistence of his parents, entered the Moscow Institute of Chemical Engineering. True, a year later he left him and joined the army, where he served in a song and dance ensemble. There he met Stas Namin and ended up in his team “Blue Bird”, and then in “Flowers”.

Already at the age of 11 he wrote his first song, at 12 he sang in a church choir in Moscow, and at 13 he performed as part of the Cruise group, performing his own songs. Another 2 years later, Presnyakov Jr. began his solo career, performing in the Laima Vaikule variety show.

Vladimir's real fame came after the release of the film "Above the Rainbow" in 1986, where the main character performed by Dmitry Maryanov sang in his voice. The songs from this film still remain hits in Russian music. After the film, a successful career was not long in coming. Almost until the mid-nineties, Presnyakov consistently entered the charts of the most popular young Russian performers, receiving music awards and bonuses.

However, Vladimir’s success was partly facilitated by a civil marriage with an equally popular girl of that time - the daughter of Alla Pugacheva, Kristina Orbakaite.

His arsenal included cover versions of hits by Modern Talking, Yaki-Da, E-Type, A-Ha, Boney M, Aqua, Blue System, Bad Boys Blue and many other famous artists. In addition, in his youth he began to actively get involved in sports, played tennis for 10 years and received a youth rank.

Saltykov was brought back to music by The Beatles. To listen to the quartet’s songs, he even worked part-time at a construction site - he had to buy a tape recorder for something. The more music there was in life, the more Victor himself wanted to sing.

This opportunity was given to him in 1983 as part of the Manufactura group. At one of the festivals, the soloist was noticed by Alexander Nazarov and invited to the Forum group. From this time on, Saltykov’s success began.

Later, the singer moved to the Electroclub group, in which Irina Allegrova and Igor Talkov worked at that time - the latter was just about to embark on a solo career, and Saltykov replaced him. In 1990, he himself began performing solo and continues to do so today.

Since his father showed no interest in his son, after the death of his mother, the future star was taken in by his aunt. Then he was brought up in an orphanage - first in the Orenburg region, then in Orenburg itself.

In 1986, he met the head of the music circle, Yuri Kuznetsov, with whose help he created the group “Tender May” and made the first recordings of his songs on a regular tape recorder. Among them was the composition “White Roses”. Andrei Razin heard it on the train and immediately decided to find the boy who sang this song.

He found a group and became its producer, making the group one of the most popular in those years. The team existed until 1992 before Shatunov left.

After leaving the group, Yuri lived in Germany for some time, then returned and continued singing solo. He still sings, although, of course, not so successfully.

The most famous songs: “White Roses”, “Summer”, “Pink Evening”, “Gray Night”, “Childhood”.
