Ik 8 polar bear. What awaits the convicted director Oleg Sentsov in a new colony in the city of Labytnagi

Relatives of one of the convicts, who is serving his sentence in the Yamal penal colony "Polar Bear" or IK-8, spoke about the beatings and torture that are allegedly applied to convicts. Having been on a date with her husband, the woman, according to him, reported on the conditions of detention of prisoners in the colony, which, in her opinion, are unacceptable.

The leadership of the colony declares that this simply cannot be, however, the "Polar Bear" regularly gets into reports on the state of emergency and summaries of prosecutor's reports. Former convicts complain to human rights activists about unbearable conditions, beatings and lack of clothing, and supervisory authorities even recorded violations of anti-extremist legislation in the colony.

As the wife of one of the prisoners said after a meeting with him, the eeks work for 12 hours or more, in inhuman conditions, at the end of the shift there is sometimes no opportunity to wash in the bath, there is no hot water and even days off. It is damp and cold in the barracks, people sleep dressed, bed linen is not washed or changed. At the same time, the prices in the colony's store change every day, they give out winter clothes that were in use, but they do not receive felt boots that the prisoners receive from their relatives. The salary of most prisoners is no more than 100 rubles a month. Safety precautions are not observed at the production: there are no necessary tools, protective equipment, mittens, gloves, respirators.

However, all domestic difficulties cannot be compared with the beatings and torture of prisoners. “They are constantly beaten in the security department and in the police department by employees Telman and Morozov,” the author of the letter quotes his spouse. - Communicate obscene language, shout, beat with hands and feet. The head of the colony, Lieutenant Colonel Mogutov, yells, swears, beats convicts, and spends his evening rounds in the colony drunk. A lieutenant named Arsen beats convicts, yells obscenely.

Special police officers are brought into the camp several times a month, all the employees beat the convicts who have been transported. “Acceptance is what they call it, they record it on cameras with a phone and grin at each other, who kicked whom, hit whom, mocked for several hours. Many do not stand up and lose consciousness, but they are simply doused with water and continue on,” the woman writes.

The head of IK-8, lieutenant colonel Igor Mogutov, in turn, said that there could be no talk of any beatings of convicts by representatives of the colony administration. “As for living conditions, we, of course, do not have a sanatorium, but we fulfill all the requirements for the life of convicts at a decent level,” Mogutov noted.

Meanwhile, "Polar Bear" more than once got into prosecutorial releases and news reports in connection with scandals, the heroes of which were representatives of the colony administration. In November 2008 against and. about. the head of correctional colony No. 8, a criminal case was initiated under Articles 292 (Official forgery) and 286 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Abuse of official authority). The prosecutors revealed that the deputy head for the construction of the colony issued a fictitious certificate of repairs carried out in the buildings of the colony, as a result of fraud, 2.1 million rubles were transferred from the budget to the contractor's accounts.

In December 2009, Oleg Mamonov, a prisoner of IK-8, published an open letter through his relatives, in which he stated that the administration of the colony would be to blame if he died. “Upon arrival at FBU IK-8, the administration beat me three times only on the first evening, they also beat the other convicts who arrived with me in one stage. Knowing in advance that I was after the operation, the administration beat me for several days. Previously, they wrapped me with tape, using handcuffs. I cannot appeal against the illegal, moreover, criminal actions of the administration, due to the fact that it is like death to complain to the prosecutor's office of the YaNAO and to the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. Secondly, all complaints fall under the personal control of the operatives, after which they again begin to beat me, threaten me, and openly destroy my complaints ... I ask you to initiate criminal proceedings against the administration of IK-8. Ensure the safety of me and my witnesses,” the prisoner wrote.

In 2010, the prosecutor's office of Yamal revealed violations of the penitentiary legislation in pre-trial detention center No. 1 IK-8. In particular, there the murderers were kept together with the accused of drug trafficking, and the prisoners were not taken out for walks, since they did not have shoes, and so on.

In April 2012, the Committee for Civil Rights reported on a complaint filed by Alexander Pavlov, who had been released from IK-8. The former convict spoke about numerous violations in the Polar Bear. “The bath in IK-8 does not work well - once a week we wash ourselves with the whole detachment, for several minutes, under five watering cans. There was a clear overflow in the detachments - up to 200 people. It is cold in the barracks, winter shoes are not issued. Things are given out very irregularly. During the four years of my stay in the colony, I received a quilted jacket only once, and that was second-hand. There were situations when people were placed in ShIZO, PKT, SUS for no reason. For example, provocative situations were created by the administration,” Pavlov said.

The situation in the "Polar Bear" worries not only the prisoners, but also those who are "on the other side of the barbed wire." In July 2012, the district prosecutor's office, during an inspection of IK-8, discovered violations of the law on countering extremism and terrorism. The library of the colony did not have a list of extremist materials, and no reconciliation of funds and newly incoming literature with this list was carried out. In addition, violations of the labor rights of employees of the correctional institution were established.

Based on materials from URA.ru, the official website of the Prosecutor's Office of the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug,

Convicted by a Russian court for creating a terrorist community, Ukrainian director Oleg Sentsov changed his colony for the third time in the past two years. What awaits Sentsov in the new colony and why he is so often transferred - the correspondent of "" figured out.

How Sentsov's "colonial" tour began

On August 25, 2015, the military court of Rostov-on-Don handed down a guilty verdict against Ukrainian citizen Oleg Sentsov. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison with a strict regime colony. During the trial, employees of the Federal Security Service declared the Ukrainian director a member of the Right Sector political organization, banned in Russia, on whose instructions he allegedly planned explosions on the peninsula.

The first place of his detention in February 2016 was the Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug. In September 2017, Sentsov was transferred to correctional colony (IK) No. 18 in the village of Kharpa, and on October 13, to IK-8 in the city of Labytnangi, also known as the "Polar Bear".

What is known colony "Polar Bear"

The prisoners of the "Polar Bear" are all those who could have been shot if Russia had not introduced a moratorium on the death penalty: terrorists, serial killers and maniacs. But IK-8 is best known for the reputation of its jailers: news agencies regularly report on beatings and torture in the Polar Bear.

A journalist from Salekhard, who wished not to disclose his name, told "" that although information about the ill-treatment of prisoners is received regularly (for example, back in 2012, the Ura.ru portal reported this), no real investigations are being carried out.

Human rights activists rarely confirm the words of prisoners about torture. Perhaps these tortures really do not exist. Perhaps the jailers manage to somehow eliminate the traces of beatings. Maybe the human rights activists themselves are dishonest. The system is so closed that it is extremely difficult to figure out who is right and who is not.

If you yourself are a scientist or just an inquisitive person, and you often watch or read the latest news in the field of science or technology. It is for you that we have created such a section, which covers the latest world news in the field of new scientific discoveries, achievements, as well as in the field of technology. Only the latest events and only trusted sources.

In our progressive time, science is moving at a fast pace, so it is not always possible to keep up with them. Some old dogmas are crumbling, some new ones are being put forward. Mankind does not stand still and should not stand still, but the engine of mankind is scientists, scientists. And at any moment a discovery can occur that can not only amaze the minds of the entire population of the globe, but also radically change our lives.

A special role in science is allocated to medicine, since a person, unfortunately, is not immortal, fragile and very vulnerable to all kinds of diseases. Many people know that in the Middle Ages people lived on average 30 years, and now 60-80 years. That is, at least doubled life expectancy. This was influenced, of course, by a combination of factors, but it was medicine that played a big role. And, for sure, 60-80 years for a person is not the limit of average life. It is possible that someday people will cross the mark of 100 years. Scientists from all over the world are fighting for it.

In the field of other sciences, developments are constantly underway. Every year, scientists from all over the world make small discoveries, slowly moving humanity forward and improving our lives. Places untouched by man are being explored, first of all, of course, on our home planet. However, work is constantly taking place in space.

Among technology, robotics is especially rushing forward. An ideal intelligent robot is being created. Once upon a time, robots were an element of fantasy and nothing more. But already at the moment, some corporations have real robots in their staff, which perform various functions and help optimize labor, save resources and perform dangerous activities for a person.

I would also like to pay special attention to electronic computers, which even 50 years ago occupied a huge amount of space, were slow and required a whole team of employees for their care. And now such a machine, in almost every home, is already called more simply and briefly - a computer. Now they are not only compact, but also many times faster than their predecessors, and anyone can figure it out. With the advent of the computer, mankind has opened a new era, which many call "technological" or "information".

Remembering the computer, do not forget about the creation of the Internet. It also gave a huge result for humanity. This is an inexhaustible source of information, which is now available to almost everyone. It connects people from different continents and transmits information with lightning speed, it was impossible to even dream of such a thing 100 years ago.

In this section, you will certainly find something interesting, exciting and informative for yourself. Perhaps even someday you will be one of the first to know about a discovery that will not only change the world, but will turn your mind upside down.
