Garden flowers that look like daisies: what are they called and what are they. What is the name of the flowers that look like chamomile

We all love daisies since childhood - we rejoice, looking at them in a meadow, on the edge of a forest, in a garden, weaving wreaths from them. When we hear the word "chamomile", most of us imagine a flower with a yellow center and a corolla of narrow white petals. But botanists call this flower a daisy ( Leucanthemum), or popovnik ( Chrysanthemum). But chamomile ( Matricaria) they call plants with heavily dissected, like dill, leaves and small white flowers with a yellow center (among them there are several types of medicinal chamomile). Both daisies and daisies belong to the Asteraceae (composite) family, and what we call a flower is actually a basket-shaped inflorescence. In the middle there are many yellow tubular flowers, along the edge are white reed flowers (not petals).

All plants of the Aster family have inflorescences similar in structure, but there are also plants from completely different families with inflorescences that also look like daisies.

In order not to guess - a chamomile is in front of us or some other flower, let's try to consider this variety of chamomile-like ones.

Asters gave the name to the whole family, but botanists refer to the genus asters mainly perennial herbaceous plants, and the familiar asters that bloom at the end of summer are generally called Chinese callistephus(Callistephus chinensis).

This flower is so modified by breeders that it is difficult to find varieties with inflorescences similar to chamomile. But they still exist, for example, a variety margarita: the middle ones are yellow, and the marginal flowers are white, blue, pink in different shades. They look very good in a bouquet. Admiring them, not everyone recognizes callistefus in these flowers. There are several dwarf varieties: waldersee 20-30 cm high with flat non-double inflorescences up to 3 cm in diameter; Edelweiss with a taller bush (up to 35 cm) and reed flowers up to 3 cm long. Wonderful variety Pepito with low cone-shaped bushes and with baskets located, as it were, in the same plane.

From real aster The most commonly grown are:

  • aster alpine (Aster alpinus) - a plant that blooms in late May - mid-June. On strong stems 25-30 cm high, there are single baskets up to 5 cm in diameter. Reed flowers are purple, lilac, blue, white, tubular (in the center) - yellow. There are varieties: Alba(reed flowers are white), Goliath(large, light purple), Dunkle Shenet(dark purple), Rosea(pink), Glory(blue), superbus(lilac - blue);
  • aster italian (Asteramellus) forms hemispherical bushes up to 60 cm high, completely covered with daisies 3-4 cm in diameter, collected 8-10 pieces in loose corymbose inflorescences. Reed flowers are lilac-violet, tubular - yellow. Blooms from late July to October. Looks good in group plantings. In culture, there are many varieties with inflorescences of various shades of pink, blue, purple;
  • undersized aster shrub (Asterdumosus) is very good for borders. Strongly branched bushes-balls 20-50 cm high are beautiful even without flowers, and when flowering in August-October they are simply magnificent. There are varieties of different heights and different colors;
  • high (1.5 m) Aster New Belgian (Aster novi-belgii) blooms simultaneously with shrubs. The bushes branch in the upper part and end with paniculate inflorescences, sometimes numbering up to 200 baskets up to 4 cm in diameter;
  • aster new england, or American ( Asternovae-angliae), blooms later than all, from September until frost. The bushes reach a height of 2 m. In the people, these flowers are called Oktyabrins. Their strong stems are crowned with paniculate inflorescences. Baskets with a diameter of 3-4 cm, tubular flowers in them are not only yellow, but also reddish and purple. Good for planting in the back rows of flower beds. Their late flowering makes the garden very beautiful in autumn.

Arctotis- a herbaceous perennial grown as an annual, also resembles chamomile flowers. He has single large baskets with a diameter of 5-8 cm on long strong peduncles. Marginal reed flowers of light colors, tubular - dark blue. The shape of the inflorescence is very reminiscent of a gerbera.

Most Popular arctotis large, or stehasolist ( Arctotis grandis, Arctotis stoechadifolia) - wonderful silver-white daisies with a blue center, with gray-pubescent leaves. There is a variety Shamakhan queen with large inflorescences. New hybrids of various species are grouped - arctotis hybrid (Arctotis hybridus). Reed flowers are yellow, orange, red, lilac, white, tubular - brown-violet or purple. The diameter of the inflorescences is up to 10 cm, the height of the plants is up to 70 cm. Arktotis are easily propagated by seeds, love the sun and warmth.

Brachycoma iberisoloista (Brachicome iberidifolia) - a little-known annual plant, very elegant, undersized, with leaves dissected into narrow lobes. The bushes are covered with numerous small delicate daisies with a diameter of 3-3.5 cm, similar to daisies. Reed flowers are blue, lilac, purple, white, tubular - blue or almost black. Varieties of brachycoma iberisolifolia: Vinta Splender(tubular flowers are white), Ash Splender(thick purple) Doctor Blue(blue) Swan Lake(mixture). These delicate plants look good in containers or at the edge of a flower bed.

At buzulnik marginal flowers are in the form of tongues. They are mostly yellow, orange, and tubular - yellow or brown. These are large perennial rhizomatous plants with large leaves collected in a rosette. In the toothed buzulnik (Ligularia dentata), baskets with a diameter of 7-8 cm are collected in paniculate inflorescences on peduncles up to 1 m high. Variety Desdemona the leaves are lilac-brown below, the flowers are orange, in the variety Othello- tangerine-orange, Samma Gold- golden yellow. Wilson's buzulnik (Ligularia wilsoniana) reaches a height of 1.5 m, baskets up to 2.5 cm in diameter are collected in very beautiful, powerful spike-shaped inflorescences. Buzulniki are good for single landings among the lawn.

Another original "chamomile" - venidium. In its large baskets (up to 10 cm in diameter), lilac-black strokes stand out at the base of each white or orange ligulate flower, and the convex center consists of black tubular flowers. Mainly distributed venidium lush (Venidium fastuosum) is a herbaceous annual plant 60-70 cm high, densely covered with white hairs.

Very similar to venidium gazing, only her reed flowers are wider, and not strokes stand out at their base, but spots similar to the “eyes” of a peacock feather. Most often found gazania hybrid (Gazania hybrida) is a perennial plant grown as an annual. The colors are very bright, elegant, there are a variety of color combinations. Gatsania is propagated by seeds, it grows relatively slowly, it is advisable to grow it in seedlings. Planted by a group in a flower garden, gazania is very pleasing to the eye.

Dahlia- a flower well known to us, and among dahlias there are also inflorescences similar in shape to daisies. it dwarf non-double dahlias, colloquially called Funny boys, with wide white, yellow, orange, red, pink, crimson reed flowers around a yellow center. Good for flower beds, rabatok. For group plantings, a high (90 cm) variety can be recommended. Heart of Danko with bright red inflorescences with a diameter of 12-13 cm.

One of the largest chamomile, of course, gerbera, the diameter of its inflorescences exceeds 15 cm. Numerous varieties are grown, which originated from gerbera jameson (Gerbera jamesoni). The plant is perennial, light and thermophilic. In the south of Russia, it winters in open ground, blooms from spring to late autumn. In the middle lane, it blooms less abundantly; it does not hibernate in open ground. Gerberas for the winter need to be dug up, like dahlias, and stored in a cool dry (4-5 ° C) place, it is better not to clear the ground (or in the sand).

Dimorfoteka- one of the best ground cover annual plants. Forms beautiful rugs with bright, wide-open inflorescences sparkling in the sun (only it's a pity that they close in cloudy weather). Widespread dimorphotheque hybrid(Dimorphotheca hybridum) with inflorescences 6-7 cm in diameter. Reed flowers are shiny, white, yellow, apricot, orange in color with dark tubular flowers in the center. There are varieties Tetra Goliath with orange inflorescences up to 10 cm in diameter, reminiscent of a gerbera, Tetra Polarstern with large white inflorescences with a purple center (they seem porcelain). It reproduces well by seeds (they are recommended to be sown directly into the ground in early May).

Doronicum- the earliest chamomile in the garden. Inflorescences-baskets with a diameter of 6-10 cm are entirely golden yellow. It is a hardy rhizomatous perennial. Most often found doronicum orientalis, or Caucasian ( Doronicum orientale, Doronicum caucasicum), 30-50 cm high. A low (15 cm) grade is good for alpine slides Gold Dwarf, blooming before all. At the end of May, a higher (up to 80 cm) species blooms - plantain doronicum (Doronicum plantagineum). This species has a large-flowered form with stems up to 1.5 m high and inflorescences up to 10 cm in diameter. Doronicums are spectacular in group planting against the background of shrubs.

Dorotheanthus- flower of Dorothea, a low-growing succulent perennial plant grown as an annual. Large variegated inflorescences open wide under the rays of the sun and can claim the title of the brightest annual. They look good among the stones on the alpine hill and in the form of large spots on the curb. The most commonly sold seeds doroteanthus daisy (Dorotheanthus bellidiformis), or mesembryanthemum crystalline (Mesembryanthemum cristalinum). The small fleshy leaves and stems of this plant are covered with shiny glandular hairs, which gives the impression of crystal grass. Inflorescences come in a wide variety of shades with a dark center. The varieties offered by the NK corporation are interesting: with sparkling white flowers ( Rhinestone), with purple ( Amethyst), with yellow reeds and red tubulars ( Marmalade). They reproduce well by seeds, but it is necessary to sow early (in late February - early March). You can take the queen cells for wintering into the house and cuttings in the spring. When sowing and cuttings, waterlogging should be avoided. This plant blooms very profusely and for a long time, this is its advantage.

Daisy, of course, basically, chamomile. Seeds of wild small perennial daisies (Bellis perennis) - it is good for lawns. Among the non-double varieties can be called varieties of small daisies Midget, Montrose.

Daisies can be propagated by seeds and division of bushes. They are used for lawns, borders, grown on balconies and in pots.

petty-petal- a rhizomatous herbaceous plant similar to perennial asters. His "daisies" are distinguished by very narrow petals. common small-scale beautiful (Erigeron speciosus) up to 70 cm high with purple inflorescences up to 4 cm in diameter and its hybrids with larger inflorescences and reed flowers of pink, lilac color. Blooms in June. Less common small petal orange (Erigeronaurantiacus) - a plant 20-25 cm high with orange inflorescences, flowering in June-July. For alpine slides, a pointed small-blade is suitable ( Erygeronmucronatus) up to 20 cm high. The bush grows well with the help of underground shoots and fills the gaps between the stones. Basket inflorescences turn from white to deep pink as they age, which gives the whole curtain a special charm. In the middle lane, this species winters poorly, but it can be grown as an letnik as a border plant. Looks good in hanging vases. All small-flowered plants are sun-loving, reproduce well by seeds and by dividing the bush. Widely used for various flower beds and for cutting.

Such a flower as chamomile is known to everyone. There are many of its "cultivated" varieties, and this plant can also be found in the wild.

Chamomile is easy to recognize by medium-sized flowers with white petals and a yellow center, as well as by small, dissected leaves. The scientific name of this crop is Matricaria, and it is grown in both group and single plantings.

Chamomile flowers are common throughout the country, and everyone can easily recognize them.

Since this plant has the most uncomplicated appearance, it is often confused with others. Indeed, there are a lot of flowers similar to chamomile. Most of them are its distant or near "relatives", for example, species such as "yellow chamomile" or "blue chamomile".

On a note. Daisy-like flowers are gerbera, echinacea, gazania, arctotis. The listed varieties have the greatest similarity with it, however, there are other plants that are often confused with this culture. Below are the most common ones.

19 types of flowers similar to chamomile: a brief description and photos of flowers

Often people who see garden flowers that look like daisies, only multi-colored, ask what these plantings are called. You can find the answer by studying the description of the following crops that resemble this plant:

Anacyclus (anacilus)

This flower is really incredibly similar to chamomile, and it is easy to confuse them. The variety has more than 10 subspecies, which can be both annual and perennial. This plant has white flowers, about 5 cm in diameter, and their petals are pink below, which is its main visual difference from chamomile.

Most often, the culture is a low creeping bushes with strong pedicels. Like many representatives of the Aster family, Anacyclus respond to lighting. Their flowers open at dawn, and after sunset, the petals close again.

This culture is considered tall, its stems sometimes reach 130 cm. But if such a flower grows in adverse conditions, the height of the bush may not exceed 25 cm. In turn, arctotis is divided into two main subspecies, stehasolist and hybrid.

A characteristic feature of both types are unusual flowers, the petals of which can be colored red or bronze at the base, gradually turning into a yellowish tint. However, you can admire this magnificence only on a sunny day, while in cloudy weather the flowers will not open.

This is a yellow flower, similar to chamomile, with a brown or burgundy core and up to 10 cm in diameter, the stems of which are 70-80 cm long. Such a culture can rarely be found in a flower bed, most often it is grown in pots and flowerpots. The flowering period of Venidium lasts from the end of July until the start of frost.

It should be noted that there are varieties of this plant, the petals of which are painted in white, pink or orange.

This culture is distinguished by a variety of colors, the petals can be lemon, cream, lilac, red, orange and others. And also there are subspecies where one shade smoothly passes into another.

In nature, there are more than 40 varieties of gazania, which are resistant to frost and drought, and, having begun to bloom at the end of May, delight the eye with their beauty until frost. Low, from 30 to 40 cm in length, bushes are grown not only in open ground, but also in pots or boxes.

Helichrysum daisyflowering

Another relative of chamomile, which can be recognized by its gray leaves and stems, as well as white flowers. The height of the bush reaches no more than 10 cm, but at the same time it is quite wide, and the planting diameter is 45-50 cm. The flowering period of this crop lasts from June to August. It is both annual and perennial.

The most popular of the helichrysums are such subspecies as bracts, helmet-shaped and awl-leaved. More exotic varieties include milford, coral and selago.

These large daisy-like flowers belong to the Astrov family. Gerberas are unique in that they can be given to anyone, since the smell and pollen are not capable of causing allergies or headaches. This is a light-loving culture, the petals of which can be tubular, pointed or curly.

To date, there are about a hundred varieties of this plant, striking in a variety of colors. Gerbera petals can be dyed any color except blue.

Doronicum (goat)

This is a perennial plant with triangular leaves of a rich emerald green hue. The height of the bush, depending on the variety, ranges from 30 cm to 1 m. The yellow-orange doronicum flower can reach a diameter of 6-10 cm, and after cutting it retains its original appearance for a long time.

For this reason, the culture is often used in bouquets in combination with other flowers.

Calendula (marigold)

This plant is also popular and unpretentious in care, like chamomile, and is very popular among flower growers. Culture belongs to the Astrov family, and is rightfully considered one of its most common representatives. There are undersized varieties of calendula, the length of the stems of which ranges from 20 to 30 cm, as well as tall ones, with a bush height of 60-65 cm.

The flowers of the plant are medium-sized, the petals are painted in bright orange. The advantage of marigolds is that they are able to actively reproduce by self-sowing, and if measures are not taken in time, they can quickly spread throughout the backyard.

This is a white, bright crimson, orange, lilac, yellow, red or pink flower that looks like a camomile. Its buds can be of various shapes, and the bush is usually low. Flowering of daisies begins in early spring and continues until the first frost.

Despite the fact that the plantings outwardly seem fragile and delicate, they are quite hardy and not capricious in care. Such a culture will look great both in single plantings and in the neighborhood with other plants.

A complete overview of Daisy's flowers.

Another name for this perennial culture is garden chamomile. This flower belongs to the Astrov family and is widely distributed among gardeners. It is unpretentious in care, undemanding to the composition of the soil and resistant to frost and drought. Depending on the variety, the length of the stems is different, and in some cases reaches 120 cm.

It is noteworthy that cornflower blooms twice a year, first in May or June, and then in August or September. Inflorescences have white petals, a yellow center and reach a diameter of 10 cm.

This culture is also known as the Cape or African daisy. When growing such a plant, it is better to choose open, well-heated areas of the sun. But with all its love for warmth, osteospermum does not lose its decorative qualities even in regions where gloomy and rainy days are not uncommon.

Such a culture can be both annual and perennial, the length of the stems ranges from 25 cm to 1 m, and the diameter of the inflorescence is 4-10 cm. The petals can be white, red or purple.

In shape, these flowers resemble an ordinary chamomile, but at the same time their petals are painted in golden hues, and the foliage has a more saturated color. A characteristic feature of Ursinia is that the inner side of the inflorescences is always lighter than the back, and if the inside of the petals is painted in yellow or terracotta tones, then the outside will be brown-purple.

Such a perennial plant with a height of 30 to 60 cm and inflorescences with a diameter of 5-6 cm is resistant to cold and adverse conditions and can bloom until frost.

This plant needs a lot of moisture and grows well in full sun. The culture can be annual or perennial, while the height of the bush and the diameter of the inflorescences can vary significantly depending on the variety. There are cases when the length of the stems reached 160 cm.

The petals of such flowers can be painted in cream, purple, yellow, scarlet, purple or lilac. Chrysanthemum looks great and retains freshness for a long time after being cut, due to which it is actively used in the preparation of bouquets.

We invite you to read the full review.

Science knows only 10 species of this culture, the most common of which is Echinacea purpurea. But, despite such a “speaking” name, the flowers of this variety can be not only of this shade, but also red, cream or yellow. As a rule, they have a convex center and petals slightly lowered downwards.

Echinacea stem height can reach 140 cm depending on the species. The plant propagates both by seed and vegetatively, and its flowering period lasts from July to September.

This list shows the most common varieties of flowers that look like chamomile. In fact, there are many more cultures that have an external resemblance to this plant.

Many of us love flowers that look like daisies. The first flower, drawn in childhood, looks exactly like this - a yellow core with petals around the edges. I immediately remember my childhood with naive divination on a camomile "loves - does not love." Flowers with petals, like those of a chamomile - white, blue, yellow, charming in their simplicity, pleasing to the eye, unpretentious in care, look harmonious in flower beds and plots. They are equally good in single or mixed plantings. However, their colors and sizes can be completely different. These are not types of chamomile, but completely different flowers. Let's look at the most popular of them.

In the flowerbed there is medicinal and garden chamomile, yellow coreopsis

Anacyclus

Anacyclus is easy to confuse with chamomile because they are really very similar. This flower has about 10 varieties, it can be either an annual or a perennial. Anacyclus blooms towards the end of May and continues to produce color until the end of July/beginning of August. This representative of the Astrov family reacts to lighting: in the evening the flowers close, and open in the morning. Most often in garden beds you can see Anacyclus depressus - it is considered the most common species, grown as a perennial. From the category of annuals, the most favorite (often found) are Anacyclus clavatus (club-shaped) and Anacyclus radiatus (radiant). The white petals of Anacyclus depressus are pink below, which distinguishes it from chamomile. This is a low plant of creeping type, it has strong pedicels. The flowers themselves are about 5 cm in diameter.

Gerbera

The general structure of the gerbera resembles a chamomile, but unlike the "classic" white and yellow color, it can be pink, dark cherry, scarlet, orange, cream, completely yellow or lilac.

It is certainly attractive in its diversity. To date, there are many varieties of this flower. The rich color range of gerbera shades and enviable vitality (retains freshness for a very long time after being cut) make it popular for making bouquets.

Gerberas can also be double, their multiple petals, depending on the variety, are tubular, curly or pointed. It can be grown both outdoors and indoors in pots. Blooms in summer and continues to please the eye until November. The size of the flowers, as well as the height of the stems, vary depending on the variety. Today there are about 100 species of this attractive and unpretentious plant.

Nivyanik

In fact, this is the meadow chamomile. Nivyanik - this is the name of the most common variety of this flower representative. Like gerberas, leucanthemum can have different forms: terry, with needle-like petals, with large or small inflorescences. In our country, this plant is most often grown as a perennial, blooms in early summer and continues to produce flowers until late autumn. It is absolutely unpretentious to the soil and place of growth.

Gatzania

There are so many shades of gazania: bright lemon, delicate cream, lilac, rich red, orange, two-tone striped, etc. Gatzania is very similar to chamomile, only multi-colored. Coloring can be very diverse. Very beautiful glazing with a gradient color, when one color smoothly turns into another. In nature, there are about 40 varieties of this flower, all of them are frost-resistant, photophilous, and also resistant to drought and heat. Gatsania blooms by early summer and continues to bloom until frost. Its height does not exceed 30-40 cm. The flower can remain fresh in a vase for a long time after cutting. The plant is grown in open ground, in pots, flowerpots, boxes. Looks harmoniously in the company of other flowers in the flower bed, as well as in single plantings. With its help decorate paths, curbs, alpine slides.

Rudbeckia

Rudbeckia just refers to those plants that they say about, flowers like daisies are only multi-colored. This is a tall flower that can reach from 50 cm to 2 m in height (Rudbeckia laciniata - dissected), the size of the inflorescences varies from 9 to 12 cm, depending on the variety. Large flowers may have a double color of the petals (from darker at the base to lighter at the tips). Also, rudbeckia is yellow, cream, pink, brownish-scarlet, orange. This unpretentious plant is a perennial that will feel comfortable in one place for about 5 years. To date, there are many species (about 40) and hybrids of this flower. Rudbeckia is the decoration of the autumn flower garden, because the time of its flowering falls on the second half of August and September.

Doronicum

This is a non-capricious cold-resistant flower that can become a bright decoration of your site with the advent of May. Doronicum blooms for about 1.5 months, but the likelihood that it will delight you with its flowers again in mid-summer or closer to autumn is very high. Its genus consists of 40 varieties, but only 10 of its species are most popular. Doronicum is also called "goat". Depending on the variety, it can grow up to 50 cm or 1 m in height. Its flowers are large, from 8 to 10 cm in diameter. If you cut the doronicum and put it in a vase, it will stand for a very long time without losing its freshness. You should know that this flower is poisonous (its ground part).

One tip: do not plant doronicum (perennial roe) under trees - they oppress it, reducing the flowering time.

Doronicum:

Arctotis

Another name for it is Bear's Ear. Most often found in two forms - tall (up to 1 m 20 cm) and undersized (about 20 cm). Flower petals can be white, as well as red, orange, pink, cream. Colored petals indicate belonging to hybrids. This plant loves the sun, its flowers open with the advent of a new day and close with the onset of evening. Arctotis blooms in early summer and continues to give you flowers until the first frost. It is resistant to drought, needs minimal watering, in general, the flower is unpretentious.

Chrysanthemum Bacardi

This relatively recently bred cultivar (2004) is often used for making bouquets and various flower arrangements. Bacardi chrysanthemums have a yellow center and white petals, which gives them the maximum resemblance to a sunny chamomile. In addition to the "classic" colors, flower petals can be yellow, pale purple, red, cream, pink. The uncomplicated structure of the buds gives florists a creative flight of fancy - the inflorescences are painted in different shades, sprinkled with sparkles and other small decor.

This plant looks very attractive both in single plantings and in company with other horticultural crops. Cut flowers stay fresh for a long time, Bacardi can also be grown indoors in a pot. Before planting a chrysanthemum in open ground, you should first select areas lit by the sun for it, since it may not produce flowers when shaded. Watering should be plentiful, but an excess of moisture should not be allowed.

Chrysanthemum Bacardi:

daisies

This is another flower that looks like a chamomile. A particularly pronounced similarity is observed in a variety with a yellow core and white petals. Naturally, this is not the only variant of the natural color of daisies, they can be bright crimson, red, lilac, orange, rich yellow, etc. Buds can be of different sizes and shapes. This flower itself is low, blooms in early spring, blooms before frost. Despite the external fragility, he is quite hardy and non-capricious. A daisy will look appropriate everywhere: in a single planting, as an element of an alpine slide, as a decoration for a path, in company with other flowers, as a potted plant. It is noteworthy that it is the daisy that is an indispensable element in the composition of the flower-herbal mixture of the Mauritanian lawn.

kosmeya

Bright, delicate cosmea flowers are prone to self-sowing. They are associated with summer warmth, surprisingly unpretentious and beautiful precisely for their charming simplicity. Cosmea can be found everywhere: in flower beds, in parks, on city lawns. A lush green carpet with multi-colored flowers will decorate your site, fill in the bald spots, for example, by the fence, if you decide to sow it. It is not afraid of drought and heat, resistant to cold, undemanding to the composition of the soil. To date, there are approximately 25 different types of this elegant flower. Pink, white, rich red, soft purple buds are crowned with erect stems that reach from 70 to 1 m 50 cm in height. Cosmea is good on its own and in company with other colors. If you have “empty” places in your flower bed, plant cosmea there, it will quickly and efficiently hide all the “flaws”, set off other garden representatives with its presence.

Pyrethrum

The flower is very similar to chamomile. It is even called Dalmatian chamomile. Outwardly, it is very similar to the daisy, only its petals are pink. This flower is a perennial. Once planted, you will admire it for many years. Feverfew is medium-sized, reaches a height of about 50 cm, unpretentious, the only thing is that it does not like waterlogging. Feverfew flowers bloom in May, bloom long and profusely.

All the plants described above are only a small part of the representatives of the green world, which, in their structure and shape of buds, resemble chamomile. Echinacea, ursinia, helichrysum, dimorphoteka, zinnias (majors), some varieties of dahlias, asters and many others can easily add to this list. At the same time, breeders of all countries continue to work tirelessly to develop new varieties.

Chamomile red - pyrethrum red (and there is also pink chamomile). A very favorite plant for flower growers. Originally from the Caucasus, but this does not prevent him from feeling great in flower beds of other climatic zones. To bloom every year, feverfew does not require much attention. For two centuries after its introduction into culture, it managed to adapt even to the heat.

Garden forms and varieties derived from a wild species are called hybrid feverfew. Among them you can find pyrethrums with double pink, dark red and even white flowers.

Chamomile red is a perennial rhizomatous plant with dissected pinnate leaves and single flower baskets on long peduncles. Inflorescences-baskets up to 8 cm in diameter with yellow tubular and pink, dark pink, red, dark red, less often white reed flowers. Feverfew blooms in late spring and, if the weather is not hot, can bloom for several weeks.

A place for feverfew is chosen well-lit or slightly shaded. It will grow in the shade, but will stretch. It is not demanding on soils, but clay soils must be improved before planting: add river sand, compost. On heavy soils, especially in low places flooded in spring or during winter thaws, feverfew does not live long. Not suitable for pyrethrum and poor sandy soils. But on fertile ones, it feels great, looks spectacular during the flowering period. Often it is not necessary to water and fertilize feverfew: in nature, he is accustomed to Spartan conditions. Not only is it not necessary to cover for the winter, but it is contraindicated: under cover, the rhizome can rot.

Red chamomile behaves intelligently in the flower garden: it rarely gives self-sowing, the rhizome does not grow much. This, on the one hand, pleases, and on the other hand, makes you think that the plant does not disappear from the flower garden. If there is a need to transplant an adult pyrethrum plant, this can be done in spring, summer, and autumn. It is only important to dig so that the earth from the roots does not crumble.

Chamomile red reproduction

Red chamomile propagates by dividing the bush, root and green cuttings, seeds. The bushes are divided once every four years. It is better to do this not in spring, but in early autumn, when it is no longer very hot, but there is still time for the plant to take root well before the onset of cold weather. Planted delenki through 30-45 cm from each other (depending on the compactness of the variety). Water regularly. Root and stem cuttings can be rooted all summer long if conditions are kept moist and not too hot.

It is easy to grow feverfew from seeds. If there are few of them in the purchased bag, it is better to sow in March-April on the windowsill or under the film on the arcs in the garden. Pyrethrum seeds do not require stratification and germinate rather quickly if favorable conditions are created for them (temperature is about 20 degrees). True, the germination of seeds is low - about half will sprout. Therefore, you can sow thicker, and then pick seedlings. Pyrethrum seedlings are planted in open ground in May - after preliminary hardening. Planted plants shade from the bright sun for several days.

Didn't have time to grow seedlings? Sow feverfew immediately in the garden. If you make sure that the soil is moist all the time before germination, the seeds will sprout well. In the first year, a rosette of leaves is formed. And next year you will see a flowering feverfew in your garden. With good care, it can bloom in the year of sowing.

Feverfew will decorate any flower garden. But they are especially spectacular next to the common daisy (they bloom at the same time). Just make sure that the leucanthemum, which gives abundant self-seeding, does not survive feverfew over time. As neighbors to these two plants, one can define the oriental poppy, the peach-leaved bell.

Feverfew is an insecticidal plant: it contains substances that kill harmful insects. They are not dangerous for humans and animals.

Chamomile is a simple yet beautiful flower that adorns gardens. Interestingly, this delicate plant has relatives that are very similar to it in appearance, only differing in color or size. Some species have been around for a long time, some were bred by breeders, but they are all beautiful. And many gardeners would like to know the names of flowers that look like daisies in order to grow them in their flower beds.

Gerbera

This attractive plant often decorates bouquets in flower shops. Their amazing property is not to dry out without water for a long time. Thanks to breeders, today there are many varieties of gerbera. This flower, similar to chamomile, can be double and simple, in the inflorescence reaches from 5 to 12 cm, depending on the variety. They are yellow, coral, orange, red. They can be grown in a pot. It begins to bloom at the end of summer and pleases with beauty until November. Since the plant is a perennial, it is kept all winter at a temperature of 14 degrees.

Gatzania

This flower is known as the African exotic daisy. This plant is Compositae, undersized (20-30 cm). The leaves are very dense in structure. Inflorescences in diameter reach 10 cm. But the most attractive thing is that these flowers, similar to daisies, are multi-colored. They are white, purple, lemon, cream, bronze, red-brown, while the petals of some species are decorated with bright stripes. For example, the colors are pale yellow, and the longitudinal stripes are rich lilac. The core of the plant is usually yellow. Botanists number about 40 varieties of gazania.

Naivnyak

In scientific circles, this plant is called leucanthemum, but among the people it has a simpler name - "naive". These flowers, similar to large daisies, also have white petals and a rich yellow core. It is often confused with chamomile, and it is on naivety that girls guess "loves - does not love." This is a perennial, blooming in June, and pleasing to the eye until the end of summer. Grows and multiplies from the root quickly, well suited for creating flower arrangements. Naivnyak grows up to 70 cm, and its flowers reach 7 cm in diameter. This chamomile has several varieties that are distinguished by noble decorative characteristics.

Yellow daisy?

Often in one or another flower garden you can see this plant. The beautiful yellow flower looks like a chamomile and pleases the eyes of passers-by. One of these is doronicum. It begins to bloom in late spring and attracts with its rich yellow brilliant color. The plant can stay in one place for more than one year. If you cut off a half-blown flower, it will stand in a vase for a long time. Depending on the variety, doronicum can grow from 50 to 100 cm. The flower is large, delicate, about 10 cm in diameter.

Coreopsis

Another yellow daisy-like flower is coreopsis. It is tall and branched, usually reaching a meter in height. A bright golden flower up to 7 cm in size blooms on each shoot. But this plant has several varieties, among which there are coreopsis with double, larger inflorescences. And there are also small representatives, where the bushes grow up to 60 cm and give small flowers (3 cm). It blooms in mid-summer and decorates flower beds until September. It is coreopsis that adorn most of the borders, mixborders and front gardens.

Erigeron

Some plant lovers believe that erigeron is a wildflower that looks like a chamomile. His second name is a small-scale. It can indeed be found in the wild, since there are approximately 390 varieties of it! It is a perennial, although some subspecies grow one season. It grows from 40 centimeters to a meter. In our area, the “beautiful small-scale pest” and varieties derived from it are more common. On average, the bush reaches 60 cm, and its delicate lilac and white petals with yellow cores - 4 cm. Flowering begins in early summer and continues until autumn.

Rudbeckia and echinacea

Another flower that looks like a chamomile is rudbeckia. It is a bright accent of the autumn garden and illuminates it with rich sunny shades. This usually occurs in August and September. The plant grows on average up to 55 cm. And when it begins to bloom, the inflorescences reach 9 cm in diameter. Rudbeckia bushes do not fall apart, but stand compactly. The core of the plant is dark and convex. The color of the petals is yellow or orange.

Another "friend" of chamomile is echinacea, which is often called rudbeckia, only of a different color. It begins to bloom in mid-summer and pleases the eye of the owners until October. The flowers are quite large - 15 cm. Like rudbeckia, the middle is dark and convex. The color is varied and is rich in red, white and pink.

Arctotis

Arctotis is a large daisy-like flower. But there are differences in color. In total, you can find two varieties of arctotis - stehasolist and hybrid. The plant is branchy and grows up to 120 cm. But 20 cm specimens can be found. The diameter of the inflorescences is 8 cm. The flowers themselves are bicolor. The petals are white, but at the base they can be a completely different shade. Bred hybrid arctotis are red, pink, yellow, white, bronze. The flower opens only in the daytime in clear weather.

chrysanthemums

There are 150 varieties of these flowers, many- and annuals. Some species may resemble a medium-sized chamomile. They grow in branched shrubs, the height of which varies greatly from 50 cm to 1.5 m. Most varieties are actively cultivated to decorate gardens. Chrysanthemum flowers are large and small-colored. The coloring is very varied.

Pyrethrum

This is another, but not the last plant, which is called daisies. But they are especially similar to pyrethrum pink and cinerarielous. Previously, these plants were cultivated for a specific purpose. The poison pyrethrin contained in them (harmless to animals and humans) kills insects and worms. But today this flower is valued only because of its external characteristics. The plant grows on average up to 65 cm. The blossoming baskets reach 6 cm. Feverfew is distinguished by its beautiful and noble colors, but more often they depend on the species. The foliage of a light green hue gives a special charm to the flower. Feverfew grows in bushes.

We learned the names of flowers that look like daisies, but it's worth noting that this is not the whole list. In our country, a large number of flowering plants are common, which outwardly resemble these snow-white beauties. Also, breeders continue their work and regularly give the world new varieties of elegant flowers.
