Noise isolation what kind of material isolon. What materials are better to use for car soundproofing: standardplast (stp), isolon, liquid soundproofing, etc.

All types of products based on polyethylene foam and polyolefin foams are produced under the trademark ISOLON. The material is made using a special technology from recycled polymer raw materials by foaming. Due to its unique characteristics, Isolon is a universal insulation with a wide range of applications. All products of the Isolon brand are manufactured in accordance with GOST.

The basis of Izolon is made of elastic polyethylene foam with closed cells located at the same distance. Possesses high heat-insulating qualities. The thermal conductivity coefficient is 0.032-0.035 W / m K, which is much higher than that of other heaters. Operating temperature ISOLON from −60 to +100°С. It has a dense cellular surface, therefore it weakly absorbs water - no more than 0.78%, and also protects well from steam and moisture.

Even with a small thickness, Isolon has excellent soundproofing properties, which makes it well suited for soundproofing. Differs in high chemical stability, it is not dissolved at contact with oil products.

Compatible with various building materials: wood, concrete, brick and others. It can be used in wet areas, as it does not rot and does not grow mold. ISOLON is lightweight, soft and elastic structure, easy to use. All work with it can be done by hand, thereby saving on installation.

Certification

Isolon is produced by Izhevsk Plastics Plant OJSC, a company that is the world leader in this field. ISOLON is not only a heat-insulating material, but also a hydro and vapor barrier. It is produced according to the international standard ISO 9001:2008. Izolon is an environmentally friendly material that can be used for 80 years.

Types and scope

Used in various industries. Produced under the brand name:

  • ISOLON 100 - gas-filled (non-crosslinked) polyethylene foam;

  • ISOLON 300 - chemically cross-linked;

  • ISOLON 500 - physically crosslinked;

  • ISOLONTAPE - material coated with an adhesive base on one or both sides;

  • EcoHeat is a general designation for building materials based on ISOLON for renovation of premises.

The scope of application expands with an increase in the density and other characteristics of the insulation, and the manufacturing method also affects.

Isolon grades 500 and 300 are used in the following cases:

  • construction;
  • automotive industry;
  • light and food industry;
  • sports and recreation;
  • household purpose;
  • packaging material;
  • the medicine.

Also used in maritime transport, the oil and gas sector and in the manufacture of toys.

Izolon brand 100 is used where it will not be subjected to stress and high temperatures. In the automotive industry, it is used as a heater and gaskets, as well as for protection against water and steam. Also often used for packaging.

The difference between crosslinked and non-crosslinked Izolon

When applying technologies and raw materials, various types of Izolon are produced, due to which the characteristics change. Isolon 300 and 500 are cross-linked, as a result, their physical, mechanical and other qualities are significantly improved. The crosslinking of the material changes the pore size during foaming. The cross-linked cell is 10 times smaller than that of standard polyethylene foam.

  • The structure of Izolon 500 consists of very small cells, so it has the lowest thermal conductivity. In addition, it better restores its shape after deformation.
  • Isolon 300 has larger cells, therefore it is inferior to the Isolon 500 brand in terms of characteristics. It is less durable and not as smooth. Isolon 300 and 500 can withstand heating up to +100°C, and simple Isolon 100 is used only up to +80°C.
  • Polyethylene foam grade 100 does not have a cross-linked structure, which is why it is inferior in terms of technical parameters to other materials. Its cells are large, so it retains heat worse. Even with a slight load, its structure is destroyed, it is not able to restore it. As a result, Isolon 100 loses its thermal insulation and other characteristics. With prolonged load, it can completely turn into a regular film.

Cross-linked polyethylene foam significantly outperforms non-cross-linked material in terms of characteristics, including the service life.

Laying Izolon in a concrete floor

Isolon 500 is used for floor insulation, including for pouring into a concrete screed. The work is carried out as follows:

  1. The concrete floor is cleaned of old coatings, debris and dirt.
  2. Cracks, potholes are closed, and significant irregularities are also eliminated. The floor must not have sharp parts, as they will damage the insulating material.
  3. Isolon 500 is laid on the floor in one direction. The rolls are overlapped by 10 cm. The joints are glued to make the insulating layer airtight. Be sure to make laps on the walls above the level of pouring the concrete solution.
  4. A reinforced frame (metal mesh) is laid.
  5. Pouring concrete solution.

If necessary, at the request of the client, the plant will produce polyethylene foam insulation, duplicated with fabric, metallized with PET films, foil, or painted in any color or embossed. To all this, it is possible to add a flame retardant to reduce the combustibility of the material.

ISOLONTAPE (Izolonteip) is a self-adhesive polyethylene foam ISOLON (Izolon). The adhesive layer serves as an ideal method of installation and is a replacement for existing means of fastening to the surface. To protect the sticky layer during production and transportation, release paper or film is used.

Connections obtained using ISOLONTAPE (Izolontape) have noise-insulating and damping properties, perfectly withstand vibration and shock loads. The application provides good sealing, adhesive bond stability over a wide temperature range and good insulating properties.

The use of self-adhesive material is recommended for insulating any metal surfaces: air ducts, pipelines, drying cabinets, car and van interiors, for insulating walls, floors, ceilings and other enclosing structures indoors for buildings of all types (residential, industrial, public) as in the construction of new as well as in the reconstruction and repair of existing ones.

Advantages of adhesive tapes ISOLONTAPE (Izolontape):

    is one of the most efficient heat, hydro, steam and noise insulators that exist today;

    during installation, the integrity of the surface of the materials to be joined is maintained, because no mounting holes required;

    the foam base gives the tape the ability to take the shape of the surface, smoothing out defects (chips, cracks, roughness, etc.);

    retains elasticity at temperatures from -80ºС to +100ºС;

    installation of parts is less time-consuming and almost instant;

    the connection line of the parts is invisible, which, accordingly, improves the appearance of the structure;

    adhesive tapes provide high "shear resistance" under loads on the glued surface;

    the percentage of waste and marriage is reduced;

    reduction of financial costs for the purchase of hardware and tools;

    resistant to decay and durable;

    almost zero water absorption;

    We have presented self-adhesive ISOLON (Izolon) under the ISOLONTAPE brand (Izolontape) in the following forms: ISOLONTAPE 100(base ISOLON 100) old name Izolonteip NPE, ISOLONTAPE 500(base ISOLON 500) old name Izolonteip PPE.

ISOLONTAPE 100 (uncrosslinked polyethylene foam with acrylic adhesive) is recommended when:

    you need a cheap heat-insulating self-adhesive material that is operated without load or with a minimum load;

    uncritical low surface quality, low mechanical strength, including compression;

    increased heat resistance of the adhesive layer is required;

Not recommended for use ISOLONTAPE 100 as a sealing and cushioning material due to the low physical and mechanical properties of ISOLON 100!

ISOLONTAPE 500(physically cross-linked polyethylene foam with a rubber adhesive layer) we recommend when:

    accelerated bonding to the surface is required (high initial adhesion);

    high mechanical strength of the foam is required and its ability to recover its shape after the load is removed (high-quality seals, shock absorbers);

    high frost resistance is required, as well as high heat resistance of the foam base;

    the production of functional elements from ISOLONTAPE (Izolontape) and high quality finishing are required.

Technological capabilities of the plant allow to produce:

    cutting into tapes of various widths;

    lamination of the base with fabrics or polymer films, including metallized ones;

    cutting into sheets of the declared length with a width of 1m;

    processing by cutting, cutting;

    winding into a jumbo roll with or without trimming the edge.

Standard delivery is carried out in logo rolls with a width of 1 m and a winding length of 10 to 50 meters, depending on the thickness of the base.

Packed in blue plastic film. The material is secured from unwinding with branded adhesive tape with a logo.

Isolon is a material used for insulation and soundproofing of premises for various purposes. In use, this insulation appeared relatively recently, but in a short period of time it became quite popular in construction and other industries. The elastic structure of the material makes it quite popular, so in this article we will try to consider it in more detail.

You can ensure coziness and comfort in the house with the help of high-quality sound insulation. As you know, indoor noise can be of two types: air and shock. In order to make soundproofing in the apartment, it is necessary to choose a good insulating material that can absorb sounds and provide complete comfort. Today, the market for soundproofing materials presents a huge selection of products that can be selected according to various parameters and criteria. Further comfort also depends on the correct choice of insulating material.

It should be noted that all products made on the basis of polyethylene or polyolefin foam are products of the ISOLON trademark. The production of insulation is carried out on modern equipment using special technology. Due to their qualities and features, the products are considered a universal insulating material, and have a wide range of applications.

What is isolon?

Izolon is a material with high elastic qualities and heat-insulating properties. The material is made from polyethylene waste, as a result of processing. The structure of the insulation is bubbly, due to which high performance indicators are achieved. To date, this material is recognized as one of the most effective heaters. It is widely used in machine-building, automotive, and footwear industries. Isolon is also considered an excellent heat and sound insulator for rooms for various purposes.

Production technology

Izolon noise insulation is made with a foil base, which improves the insulating properties of the material. In addition, it can have an adhesive base, which will allow you to fix the insulation on various surfaces without additional funds. The porous structure of the insulation can be used for any purpose. With the use of isolon I insulate cars, houses and apartments.

The difference between crosslinked and non-crosslinked isolon

There are two types of isolon: stitched and embroidered. The peculiarity of the second option is that the material has an unbound molecular structure. The polymer molecules do not have a chemical bond, while the cross-linked isolone does not change its structure. When the crosslinking process occurs, an improved molecule is formed, cross-linked or reticulated.

In simple terms, cross-linked isolon has a higher quality and, accordingly, characteristics. The cross-linking process improves the thermal insulation properties of the material, as well as resistance to aggressive compositions of substances, ultraviolet radiation and precipitation.

Specifications

Izolon is made on the basis of polyethylene raw materials. The porous structure makes the product one of the best types of heat and sound insulating material. As for the coefficient of thermal conductivity, it is significantly higher than that of other insulating materials. The operating temperature of the isolon is from -60 to +100 degrees Celsius. Due to the dense cellular surface, the insulation practically does not absorb water, which is especially good for warming rooms with high humidity.

Interesting! It is worth noting that the isolon, even if it has a small thickness, then its heat and sound insulation qualities are superior to some materials. When interacting with petroleum products is not destroyed.

Izolon can be used for any type of surface:

  • wood boards;
  • Concrete;
  • Brick;
  • Metal.

You can use insulation in rooms with a high degree of humidity, which also adds advantages to the material. Insulation material is produced in rolls and plates, which allows you to choose the perfect solution. The low weight of the product and its elasticity make installation work simple and fast. Installed soundproofing isolon can not only protect a house or car from cold and noise, but also save money on calling a master, because everything can be done independently without the involvement of specialists.

Types and scope

To date, the manufacturer provides the following types of products:

  • Isonol 100 - non-crosslinked polypropylene;
  • Iisonol 300 - chemically cross-linked;
  • Isonol 500 - physically crosslinked;
  • Isolontape - the material has one or two adhesive sides;
  • Ecoheat - insulation personalized for indoor work.

Izolon brand 300 and 500 are used in most cases to work as an insulator. It is used in construction, automotive, light food industry, household and medicine.

Interesting! The Izolon 100 brand can be used in cases where the insulation is not affected by heavy loads and high temperatures. It is ideal for soundproofing car interiors.

One of the features of the material is that it can be operated at low temperatures and not lose its properties. Due to this quality, isolon is often used in the automotive industry.

Due to the high resistance to moisture, it is used for metal surfaces, protecting them from corrosion. According to experts, isolon is a heater that is reliably and durable in operation without loss of quality. When using isolon, no care is needed for the material. The material is not combustible, because when interacting with an open fire, it breaks up into two components, water and carbon dioxide.

When insulating floors, often before pouring a liquid solution, the surface is covered with an isolon of small thickness. Such a substrate is needed not in order to protect the lower floors from leakage, but solely because of the thermal insulation properties. The structure of the material does not absorb moisture, so a kind of air cushion is formed under the self-leveling floor, which guarantees effective heat and sound insulation.

Performing Soundproofing

To isolate any surface, the material must be laid out along the entire length and glued. If isolon is used for internal insulation, then it is important to remember that the walls must breathe and be ventilated so that fungus and mold do not form. Such a heater as isolon can be used for external insulation, since it is not exposed to ultraviolet exposure.

Installation work with isonol is quite simple and does not require additional investment. To perform the installation, you do not need several people and many different tools. The weight of the insulation is insignificant and it is quite possible to put it yourself. During installation, it is necessary to correctly calculate the parameters of the treated room in order to make insulation with a minimum number of joints and seams. In addition to high thermal insulation qualities, isolon also copes well with airborne noise. You can create ideally comfortable conditions in the house using various sound and heat insulating materials. Izolon is one of the few products that has gained immense popularity since its introduction on the market.

Hello dear car enthusiasts! When you decide what you just need, you go to the car shop to choose the materials. Naturally specialized.

And, again, naturally, you ask the question - how to choose the best material for soundproofing or what kind of soundproofing is better. I don’t want to upset you, but the best sound insulation is only in advertising. And our task is to choose the right and right materials for sound insulation.

After all, in essence and in terms of manufacturing technology, all materials for soundproofing cars have ± the same properties and qualities. If these are factory-made soundproofing materials, and not an outright fake.

And what is needed in order to choose and buy materials for sound insulation correctly? Quite right! To know what are and where certain materials are used for soundproofing a car.

After all, the material that needs to be used for soundproofing wheel arches cannot necessarily be used for soundproofing a car interior. So let's take a short digression into the types and types of materials for car soundproofing.

The best sound insulation of a car depends on the choice of material

Soundproofing STP for cars

Like everything that can be classified, materials for soundproofing a car are also divided into types that are responsible for a particular area of work to muffle a car. And they are designed to eliminate this or that type of noise.

The right choice and combination of materials for soundproofing of different types allows you to get an almost silent car (ideally). What are the types of soundproofing materials?

Noise absorber (noise insulation, sound absorber)- This is a type of material that is designed to absorb sound waves from the air. As a rule, the following noise-absorbing materials are used to soundproof a car:

  • Accent is one of the main materials in the line: car soundproofing materials StP (StandardPlast). In addition to soundproofing properties, it has such qualities as: sound reflection and thermal insulation.
  • Bitoplast is an excellent sealing and anti-creak material. And thanks to its structure, and a high-quality noise absorber.
  • Izolon - soundproofing with this material, in principle, does not differ from the Accent. In the standard plastic category, sound insulation with this material is rated as a solid “good”.

Soundproofing (soundproofing) - this type of material is fundamentally different from sound absorbers, due to its closed-cell structure and impenetrable front film. These materials have such qualities as tightness and heat retention. Especially effective in the presence of a foil surface.

Vibration damper (vibration isolation)- materials designed to reduce the amplitude of vibrations of plastic and metal surfaces of the car while driving. All vibration isolation materials are based on one principle - the viscoelasticity of the material (bitumen, foamed rubber).

The most common materials are:

  • BiMastBomb is a vibration-absorbing material. The base is a mastic and bituminous composition. Foiled with aluminum film, perfectly processed with scissors.
  • BiMastStandard - from this series of vibration-proof materials, has the greatest elasticity. Does not require warming up, fits perfectly on curved curvilinear surfaces. There is no foil coating.
  • Vibroplast M1 (M2) - difference in thickness: 1.5 and 2.3 mm, respectively. It is easy to install, but has the lowest MLC (mechanical loss factor) for this line of materials. According to the recommendations of experts, it is better not to apply it to metal surfaces.
  • VizoMat is a vibration-absorbing material based on bitumen. Self-adhesive. Positive properties: does not absorb moisture and does not decompose over time. For installation requires heating up to 50 degrees.

Gasket (anti-creak) materials- are designed to eliminate sounds that occur when metal or plastic parts of the car come into contact.

Craftsmen used to use as a gasket material: paralon, carpet, even plasticine. Today there is no need for this: to take plasticine from a child. Let him learn to sculpt, and you should go to the car shop and choose:

  • BitoPlast is a material based on polyurethane, with a sticky layer, 5-10 mm thick. impregnation of the material makes it: durable, waterproof, and increases the sound-absorbing qualities.
  • Madeleine is a fabric material with an adhesive layer. Due to its decorative appearance, it can be used in an open form for processing joints between panels. Available on the market in two colors: black and grey.

Liquid noise insulation for external processing of cars

Video - car soundproofing materials

You have probably heard such names as: liquid fender liner, anticorrosive, liquid noise insulation. As a rule, materials of this group are used for external noise-insulating and anti-corrosion treatment of a car. , For example.

The exterior surfaces of the vehicle require special attention from the driver. The reasons are clear - the constant exposure to an aggressive environment, especially in winter, simply devours the car body.

Here, in fact, in order to prevent premature wear and, at the same time, carry out soundproofing of the car, liquid soundproofing is used. According to the method of application, materials are divided into: aerosol coating and "painting" (brush, spatula).

Mastic materials for noise insulation have such necessary qualities as: a wide range of application temperatures, resistance to reagents, resistance to mechanical stress (we are talking about such quality as anti-gravel protection of a car).

In addition to the tasks of anti-corrosion and anti-gravel, liquid materials also act as additional soundproofing for a car.

That, perhaps, is all. For information and a conscious choice of materials for car soundproofing, it is quite enough. And the properties and qualities of each of the materials, you must study according to the instructions and description in each case.

Our winter has always been famous for its duration and severe frosts, so one of the main tasks for a motorist is the thermal insulation of a car. Why not?

This work cannot be called difficult. With proper organization and the availability of the necessary materials at hand, the entire process of insulation takes from 3 to 6 hours.

What does it give?

Firstly, the thermal insulation of a car engine is a chance to reduce the time for warming up the main unit and at the same time save a significant amount of fuel.

Secondly, high-quality insulation eliminates the appearance of frost on the hood, which negatively affects the paintwork.

Thirdly, the arrangement of the cabin allows you to increase the efficiency of the stove and keep the heat in the cabin much longer (thanks to this effect can be enhanced).

Engine

The first thing to start with is to insulate the engine. There are several main options here.

Hand tools.

Many car enthusiasts go the way of saving - they use improvised means (blankets, pieces of felt, and so on). But as practice shows, this method of insulation is ineffective and is used less and less.

Made from high quality refractory material. They are very effective and affordable. At the same time, the engine warm-up time is reduced from 15 to 7-10 minutes.

But here it is important to choose a quality product. There are cases when cheap Chinese car blankets began to smoke or even ignited from elevated temperatures in the engine compartment. The price of a quality car blanket is somewhere around 1500-2000 rubles.

Professional heaters

They have maximum efficiency. Their plus is the ease of installation and dismantling. With the onset of cold weather, such thermal insulation can be put on, and in summer, on the contrary, removed.

Here are the four most popular materials.

Effectively retains heat and has a relatively low price. The cost of one square meter will cost from 50 to 150 rubles (depending on the thickness).

The material is of excellent quality and reliably retains heat in the engine compartment.

Refers to self-adhesive materials. This insulation is based on polyethylene foam. It consists of three layers - front, foam polyethylene and adhesive layer.

There is no foil here, but even without it, the material holds heat very well. The thickness of "Tiviplen-P" can be different - 4, 8 or 15 mm. Price - from 200 rubles.

It is used as an effective soundproofing material, but it also copes with the function of retaining heat perfectly.

In fact, it turns out a double effect - heat and sound insulation. High-quality material will cost from 60 rubles per square meter. One of the best options for a car enthusiast.

"Isoton", "Stizol".

Materials that perform both functions at once (heat and sound insulating). Sold in sheets (most often 2x1 meters).

The cost of one sheet can reach up to 1500-2000 rubles.

Stages of work

We prepare tools and materials.

The process of warming is carried out in several main stages. To begin with, a tool is selected:

  • scissors;
  • stationery knife;
  • ruler;
  • pencil;
  • marker (yellow and black);
  • paper and tape.

We make layouts.

Then mock-ups are made for each of the sections of the hood (it can be made of paper or cardboard). This allows you to accurately determine the required amount of material. On average, about 60-70x100 cm of insulation goes on the hood of a sedan.

All blanks must be cut into shapes and signed with a marker (this allows you to do the job well and not get confused).

Finished patterns must be laid out on a heat-insulating material, attached with adhesive tape and circled around the contour with a marker.

Now you can use scissors and carefully cut the blanks.

The next important step is the preparation of the hood.

Here it is important to ideally wash the inner surface with water and shampoo and degrease it well with a solvent. If you want to save time, you can immediately drive the car to the sink.

Now carefully apply the prepared pieces of insulation to “your” cells. Thanks to the self-adhesive base, no additional manipulations for applying the adhesive composition are necessary.

15-20 minutes of work and the thermal insulation of the car under the hood is ready.

Variants of a sticker of heat-insulating material.

Engine warm-up devices

Engine.

It is intended for fast warming up of the main unit of the car. Its main drawback is dependence on a 220-volt household network, so it is increasingly being used in car enthusiasts' garages.

In addition, such a system is not capable of starting automatically - only in manual mode. Full heating of the coolant is achieved after 20-30 minutes.

A lot depends on the type of device and manufacturer. It costs from 2,000 rubles and more. Installation of such systems does not cause difficulties even for novice motorists.

The main thing is to act clearly according to the instructions given by the manufacturer.

One of the best options if you have extra 15-20 thousand rubles or more on hand. The advantage of the system is complete autonomy.

It is enough to program the device, and it will turn on several times a night, while warming up the engine.

Today, there are many different modifications of such systems with many useful functions. But it is better to entrust their installation to experienced professionals.

Salon

After completion of work with the insulation of the engine compartment, the next stage is the thermal insulation of the car interior.

The goal of the motorist is clear here - to retain heat in the car and speed up the heating of the interior with a stove in winter.

Such work is relevant not only for cars of the domestic auto industry (for obvious reasons), but also for foreign cars.

Thanks to high-quality insulation and effective athermal tinting, it turns out to keep the heat in the cabin longer even without turning on the stove.

At the same time, modern materials provide excellent sound insulation, which provides additional comfort from the trip.

Materials used

The most popular materials for interior insulation include:

It is applied by spraying and effectively fights both cold and excess noise.

Thanks to this technique, you can completely cover the surface of the body from the inside and achieve maximum effect.

In addition, polyurethane foam effectively closes all existing gaps and prevents cold air from getting inside.

The substance has a low coefficient of thermal conductivity even when applying a thin layer. At the same time, the composition provides reliable protection of the metal from corrosion and is safe for health.

The main disadvantage of this method is the inability to do the work yourself.

To apply polyurethane foam, you will need special expensive equipment, so you can’t do without contacting a specialized company and serious expenses (from 10 thousand rubles or more).

A more affordable option for an ordinary motorist is penofol. In fact, it is polyethylene foam, which is covered with aluminum foil on top. This material has a powerful sound and cold-reflecting effect.

The thickness of the product is only a few millimeters, but even one layer is enough to achieve the desired result.

The advantage of penofol is flexibility, lightness, durability, ease of installation. After gluing the surfaces from the inside of the cabin, the heat inside remains much longer.

In addition, in the summer heat, the car remains cool much longer, which allows you to turn on the air conditioner less often and, as a result, save on fuel.

As a rule, it is penofol that is most often used for insulation.

In this case, the thermal insulation of the car itself is performed in the following sequence:

  • 1. Prepare the necessary tools - foil penofol, rubber seals, adhesive tape, knife, sealant, cardboard sheets, marker, scissors and a screwdriver.
  • 2. Visit the car wash and order a full range of interior cleaning services.
  • 3. Remove everything superfluous - seats, dashboard, panels on all doors. Remove excess items from the back shelf.

Radical option.

  • 4. Inspect the body carefully and be sure to close the extra holes with sealant. At the same time, pay special attention to the space between the engine compartment and the car interior. It will be very useful to remove the heater core and seal all existing seams with sealant.
  • 5. If the rubber seals are badly worn, replace them.

  • 6. Start work from the floor of the car. After removing the seats, you need to completely wash the bottom and degrease it. Using sheets of paper, a marker and scissors, make patterns.
  • 7. Calculate the required volume of isolon and go to the store to buy insulation (take a little with a margin). As soon as the material is at hand, transfer the finished cardboard patterns to the isolon and cut out the required pieces.
