Gasket between wall hung toilet and wall. Self-installation of a wall-hung toilet

Recently, a wall-mounted toilet bowl (or installation) is no longer considered an expensive and fashionable plumbing fixture - it has long moved from the category of elite products to the class of practical and affordable for everyone. And no wonder, because thanks to its design, the console toilet takes up almost no space and does not create any problems when cleaning the room. The main feature of the wall-mounted toilet bowl is a hidden installation system - a rigid frame that holds the cistern and all the mechanisms necessary for the operation of the toilet bowl are mounted in a hidden way into the wall. Only the wall-mounted porcelain bowl remains visible.

Installing a hanging toilet from a technical point of view is much more difficult than that - the thing is that, among other things, for a hidden installation, a niche and certain conditions are required, which we will consider in this article.

Installing a hidden installation

As mentioned above, a niche is needed to install the installation of a wall-mounted toilet bowl - it is from its preparation that all work must begin. The place for the niche should be chosen in such a way that it is possible to make a hidden supply of sewer pipes ø110mm. Typically, this is the biggest problem. If the issue of saving space is not so acute, and you are ready to sacrifice an area of 150 by 700 mm, then instead of installing a niche, the installation can be installed without it, subsequently simply sheathed with drywall.

Having decided on the installation site of the hanging toilet bowl, you can proceed with the installation of the supporting frame with a hidden cistern. It is necessary to start with it, and it is more convenient to bring water and sewer pipes to the installed installation.

The carrier frame of the hanging toilet bowl has four support points - it is mounted on two legs fixed to the floor and two brackets fixed to the wall. Mounting the installation must begin with the legs. When they are fixed, the frame will need to be adjusted in height - depending on the height of the person, the water drain hole should be located at a height of 250mm to 300mm above the level of the finished floor. The height adjustment of the frame position is carried out using two bolts located on both sides of the bottom of the frame.

Having dealt with the height of the drain hole, the procedure for fixing the installation can be completed - with the help of anchor screws or powerful self-tapping screws, the top of the supporting frame is fixed to the wall using complex brackets.

When attaching all support points, it is necessary to carefully check the level of the frame installation in all planes.

Connecting the installation to the water supply and sewerage system

It is necessary to connect a hidden tank to the water supply reliably - they themselves must understand that it will not work to eliminate water supply leaks during operation without violating the integrity of the wall cladding. It is better to use a reliable and proven pipe over the years - either copper or polypropylene is the best suited for these purposes. Thread sealing in this regard is best done with tow and paint. No flexible hoses are allowed here - the maximum that can be used from quick couplings is American.

With sewerage, things are a little simpler - the connection of the installation to the drainage system is carried out with ordinary sewer pipes using additional sealing paste. Do not forget about slopes and turns, which must be mounted exclusively with 45˚ bends.

The installation, mounted and connected to the water supply system, must be tested without fail - only after making sure that there are no leaks and the normal operation of all mechanisms, the installation can be sheathed with drywall. Before sheathing, it is necessary to install a small and large pipe for connecting the toilet bowl, studs for fixing it and a square for installing the drain button.

All further work on installing a hanging toilet bowl with your own hands is carried out after the walls of the bathroom are fully lined.

How to install a toilet bowl

There are two things that you absolutely need to pay attention to when installing a wall-mounted toilet bowl.

Firstly, this is the fitting of the pipes connecting the installation and the toilet bowl - despite all the seeming simplicity, this is a responsible matter and requires a special approach. It is very important to correctly determine their length. If you cut off a pipe that is too large, the toilet will not stick tightly to the wall; if you cut off a small one, a leak may occur over time.

Secondly, when installing the bowl on the studs between the wall and the toilet itself, it is imperative to lay a rubber gasket - without it, the chances of damaging the tile, and, in general, the porcelain itself, increase many times over. As a last resort, if the gasket supplied by the manufacturer suddenly disappeared somewhere, you can use silicone. It must be applied to the side of the bowl adjacent to the wall and wait until it dries completely. This gasket does not play the role of a sealant in this case - it serves as a kind of shock absorber.

Thirdly, this is the mount itself. It is necessary to tighten the nuts very carefully and at the same time firmly. To prevent porcelain from bursting, all rubber and plastic gaskets supplied by the manufacturer must be used.

How to install a drain button

Suspended toilet bowls are equipped with two types of drain buttons - mechanical and pneumatic. If you have a choice, it is better to give preference to pneumatics - its installation is easier, and it lasts longer.

Before installing the drain button, it is necessary to cut a rectangular frame of access to the inside of the tank to the level with the tile. Also, before installing the button, it will not be superfluous to open the tap for supplying water to the drain tank - as a rule, it is located inside the tank and after installing the button it will simply not be possible to get to it.

Now you can connect the button and install it in its place. It connects pretty easily. If we are talking about mechanics, then it will be enough to direct the plastic pins in the right direction and adjust their length. Pneumatic buttons are connected even easier - there is no need to make adjustments here. It is enough to connect two thin tubes to the button block, one of which is responsible for a small drain, and the other for a large one. The connected button is simply snapped into the mounting hole.

Here, in principle, is the whole process of installing a hanging toilet bowl with your own hands. Whether it is difficult or not, decide for yourself - in any case, if you set a goal and get the necessary information, this process will seem very interesting.

A wall-mounted toilet recently seemed almost a luxury, in any case, for many it was a novelty, and its price hinted at its attitude to elite plumbing.

But a little time has passed, its cost has decreased, and popularity among the population has grown, for which there are several reasons at once. Firstly, this type of toilet is still perceived as something new and unusual, which is appreciated among lovers of various novelties and extraordinary design solutions. Secondly, it is much more convenient than its traditional counterpart. Such a toilet does not come into contact with the floor, so it does not complicate the cleaning process, allowing you to more thoroughly wash the floor and walls. There is also a third reason - only the bowl itself and the drain button remain in sight, and the tank and pipes are hidden in a niche without cluttering up the space and without spoiling the general appearance of the room. How to install a built-in toilet and should it be preferred at all? More on this later.

  • laconic modern design that fits perfectly into any interior of a bathroom or a separate toilet;
  • structural strength. The bowl can withstand weight up to 400 kg, so even overweight people can safely use this option without fear of breakage;
  • many options for shapes, colors and sizes. Hanging toilets are quite expensive, so to attract buyers, manufacturers are trying to make them as comfortable and attractive as possible;
  • water dividers built into the toilet bowl allow you to clean the thicket more thoroughly thanks to the strong pressure of the water.

The disadvantages, which also exist, include the complex installation process and the high cost compared to conventional toilets. The installation requires a niche in which it will be placed. If there is no such niche, you will have to reduce the area of \u200b\u200bthe room and make a drywall box in which the system will hide.

Installing a hanging toilet with your own hands will undoubtedly help save a lot of money, but it is not so easy to cope with this matter. If the installation of a conventional floor bowl is within the power of everyone, then there are nuances that complicate the process, in particular, the presence of a supporting frame. The whole technology can be conditionally divided into several parts: the installation of the installation, the connection of the system, finishing work and the installation of the bowl.

To install a wall-hung toilet, it is enough to have at hand the simplest set of tools. To drill holes for fasteners, you will need a hammer drill with concrete drills of the appropriate diameters and the fasteners themselves. Marking is applied with a marker or pencil using a level and tape measure. To connect the element, a hammer, screwdrivers, adjustable, as well as open-end and box wrenches are used. In addition, a grinder and silicone sealant will come in handy.

Base frame installation

The most responsible and difficult part is the installation of the toilet installation. Doing it with your own hands is quite difficult, but possible. First you need to decide on the location. If there is a niche in the room with an area of at least 15x70 cm, the supporting structure can be fixed in it. Smaller dimensions do not allow placing the installation inside and connecting a sewer pipe with a diameter of 110 mm to it, so if the niche is small, you will have to equip an additional drywall box that “eats up” the usable area.

By the way, this moment refutes the opinion that the hanging toilet saves space, on the contrary, in order to hide all communications, you will have to sacrifice part of the room.

Installation begins with fixing the installation: a supporting frame with a built-in cistern. The frame is fixed with two legs and two brackets. First, the legs are attached to the floor, after which the structure is adjusted in height using special bolts along the edges of the frame. The installation height of the toilet bowl from the floor is determined by the position of the drain hole and is 25-30 cm. Next, brackets are attached to the wall using self-tapping screws or anchor bolts.

Installing an installation under a wall hung toilet

Throughout the entire installation process, it is necessary to constantly monitor the correct position of the individual frame elements using the building level.

Connection of sewerage and water supply systems

The peculiarity of the hanging toilet is that all its communications are hidden in the wall, so any breakdown will lead not only to the replacement of worn out elements, but to a full repair with repeated facing works. Therefore, all connections must be made carefully and reliably.

The tank is connected to the water supply system with copper or polypropylene pipes, which are durable. In no case should flexible hoses be used; if necessary, it is allowed to install such a threaded connection as an "American". Connection points are sealed with tow or paint.

Installation of a toilet bowl with installation

The installation is connected to the sewerage system with ordinary sewer pipes of the appropriate diameter, the joints are sealed with paste. At this stage, you need to remember about the necessary slopes of the pipes towards the drain and the installation of bends at an angle of 45º.

After connection, the system is tested and checked for leakage, all connections are carefully inspected. At the same stage, the valve for supplying water to the drain tank opens, access to which will be closed after sheathing. If the design performs its functions properly, it is possible to remove the nozzles for attaching the bowl, the square for the drain button and the studs, followed by the stage of sheathing the installation with drywall sheets.

Bowl mounting

Installation of a wall-hung toilet is carried out after completion of all finishing work, which complicates the process a little. There are a few things to keep in mind when installing:

  • the length of the pipes connecting the bowl with the installation must be optimal for each specific case. If they are too long, there will be a gap between the toilet and the wall, and pipes that are too short can cause the connection to leak. Therefore, the choice of their length must be approached responsibly even at the stage of connecting the installation to communications;

Do-it-yourself installation of a hanging toilet bowl

  • lining the walls of a toilet or a combined bathroom is most often a tile that is easy to scratch when installing a toilet bowl. When mounting the bowl, a rubber gasket should be placed between it and the tile, which will reduce the risk of damage to the lining and the bowl itself. The gasket can be replaced with a layer of silicone sealant, which is applied to the place where the tiles come into contact with the toilet. In this case, the sealant will play the role of a kind of shock absorber, and not ensure the tightness of the connection;
  • the bowl is suspended and fixed with nuts. You need to tighten them until they stop, but very carefully, using the rubber or plastic gaskets included in the kit. Overtightening the fasteners or missing a gasket can damage the porcelain surface.

Connecting a drain button

This is the simplest installation step, the sequence of which depends on the type of button itself. It can be mechanical or pneumatic. The latter is more reliable and durable, moreover, it has a simpler connection.

To begin with, a frame is cut out in the wall cladding at the selected location, providing access to the connection elements to the tank. At this point, the water supply valve to the tank should be open, which is done even before plasterboarding. The mechanical button is installed by adjusting the length of the plastic pins, and the pneumatic one is simply connected with two tubes to the block. Two tubes actuate the small and large drain. The connected button is inserted into the hole until it clicks.

For a more detailed study of the technology, you should also look at the master classes on how to install a wall-hung toilet with an installation. Installation of such a design is within the power of everyone, if you approach it responsibly, in addition, a do-it-yourself installation will save a lot of money, which does not happen much during repairs. If you have any doubts about your abilities and skills, it is better to turn to specialists. It is safer to hire workers in large firms with a good reputation, while concluding contracts. In the event of disputes, it is much easier to obtain compensation for damage or re-installation.

The hanging toilet differs from the classic floor-standing toilet only in that the communications are hidden inside the wall. Only the toilet is visible from the outside. The rest of the water supply and disposal system is hidden behind the wall. This is what is called an installation.

It is a rectangular metal frame with threaded holes for mounting, and a flat plastic drain tank. A drain key is also attached to the system, which costs almost more than the installation itself (TW key bronze 16,920 rubles).

Recently, installing a wall-hung toilet in the bathroom was not possible, but now, thanks to the huge selection in the plumbing market, installing a wall-mounted toilet can be done by yourself. Although many are afraid to install a suspended structure, because there are some outdated myths regarding it.

Myths about the wall-hung toilet

Myth 1. A hanging toilet, if a heavy person sits on it, will fall and break.

The toilet itself, if it is made with high quality, without cracks, can withstand weight up to 400 kg. The only thing that can fail is a poorly installed installation. It is a welded metal frame of square section. The installation is fixed to the floor with two bolts of 12 mm in diameter, and to the wall at a height of 1.2 m above the floor level with bolts of the same diameter.

The toilet itself is hung at a height of 35-40 cm above the floor. One such bolt is able to withstand a person, and there are two such bolts, and even a couple below. If you find a 12 mm drill, then screwing in such bolts will not be a problem, and the installation will not crash with daily use of plumbing.

when installing a hanging toilet, the tile under the bowl in the lower right corner bursts. Natalia

There can be three reasons why tiles cracked when installing a wall-mounted toilet:

  • The lining for the cladding was not assembled correctly if you did not have a monolithic base, but a metal installation under the hanging toilet. It is possible that the GKL or GVL sheet is not fixed properly to the frame, while not adjacent to it. When you try to install the toilet, it is pressed through, the tile is cracking.

Diagnosis: after removing the toilet, try to press hard on the problem area. If the stitching even a little "walks" - there is a violation of technology.

Treatment: disassemble everything, redo the stitching, fasten. Make sure that the installation itself is installed "tightly".

  • Tiles not installed correctly. The probability that a tile laid according to all the rules will crack is small. Cracks often occur in places where there are voids under the cladding that are not filled with glue.

Diagnosis: after removing the toilet, tap the problem area. The presence of emptiness can be determined by the sound.

Treatment: beat off the tile and shift, carefully applying glue to the entire surface of the wall with a sufficient layer. It is better to let it be a little more than necessary, the excess can be squeezed out and removed.

An indispensable condition for high-quality installation of a wall-mounted toilet: the installation must be installed firmly and strictly vertically, the lining is securely fixed, the tiles are laid on glue without voids

  • The toilet is installed incorrectly. Suspended water closet, as a rule, is attached to the wall with two screws. If one of them is pinched, the tile may burst. By the way, did the plumbers forget to install a gasket between the plumbing fixture and the wall, as well as plastic bushings on the threaded studs?

Video: how to install a hanging toilet with your own hands. The author of the video pays special attention to the fact that the fasteners must not be pinched, otherwise the ceramics may burst.

Perhaps the toilet seat is not completely flat, and the tile in the lower right corner protrudes a little. But for a competent plumber, this is not an obstacle: the specialist will first inspect the bowl and surface, if necessary, make the necessary adjustments to the installation process.

Diagnosis: remove the toilet, put it with the end, which is designed to be installed on the wall, on a flat surface. Swing from side to side diagonally. Determine the presence of curvature and its degree. Measure the vertical area with a level.

Treatment: when installing the toilet bowl, take into account the presence of curvature, place elastic linings of the required thickness between the toilet bowl and the wall in the necessary places. You can use sheet cork or rubber. It would be useful to first apply silicone sanitary sealant to the toilet or wall.

Natalia, there are no miracles. If something does not work out as expected, it means that one of the performers cheated. In the event that you hire workers, try to entrust the entire range of work on the bathroom to the same team so that they have no one to nod at. Do repairs on your own - follow the technologies prescribed by manufacturers of building materials and equipment.
