Forced ventilation in plastic windows with your own hands. What you need to know about vent valves for plastic windows

Good day to all!

One of my especially talkative neighbors has recently begun to complain often about feeling unwell.

Although she is already a grandmother, everything works in production. The room is always stuffy, but it is worth opening the window - immediately a draft.

I ask if there is an inlet valve in the windows. He says he doesn't know about this.

It is understandable, life is not the same without a valve. Sit closer, now I will talk about what it is and what it is for.

Since it is impossible to live in a completely clogged hermetic space, and simply airing the room through the windows cannot be a panacea (because heat and sound insulation are violated), there are a number of ventilation devices manufactured by large manufacturers of PVC profile systems and companies specializing only in ventilation devices.

These devices are designed to allow outside air to enter the premises, ventilate them and remove polluted air.

At present, a whole industry for the production of ventilation devices has been created in the West.

Window ventilation devices from Aereco (France), Renson and Titon (Belgium), Siegenia (Germany) have already appeared on the Russian construction market.

As for the classification of ventilation devices, they certainly include a variety of opening restrictors, micro-ventilation devices manufactured by fittings manufacturers, and opening dampers, valves and special ventilation ducts installed on PVC profiles, and ventilation devices in the lower or upper part frames.

Let's try to consider the principles of operation of some ventilation devices.

For example, ventilation dampers and strips are a very large group developed by PVC profile manufacturers.

They are manually adjustable, they can be compared with the opening limiters included in the hardware kit (micro-ventilation, etc.), only these devices (unlike hardware mechanisms) are separate parts of window structures and their installation must be provided in advance, at the stage of measuring openings .

Depending on your desire, you open the required number of through holes made in the bar and the air inside the bar passes through many ventilation holes offset from each other.

A significant disadvantage of ventilation devices of this type is their orientation to use in apartments that are not exposed to intense noise from highways, railways and other sources of noise - a decrease in sound insulation.

For trouble-free opening and closing of the air exchanger, a lever drive is used, which can be mounted on all types of window frames.

The disadvantage is the reduction of the light opening by 80 mm, due to the installation of the Aeromat ventilator between the sash profile and the double-glazed window.

Nevertheless, the manufacturer expects the high popularity of this model. designed to greatly simplify the lives of both home residents and office workers.

The next example, the REHAU-Climamat ventilation damper, is installed directly on the window element.

At the same time, the valve allows you to regulate the flow of air, avoid high humidity and ensure an optimal indoor climate.

Rehau's design goals were to achieve an optically minimally observable device and to avoid milling holes in the profiles, making a return to the original state impossible.

Device advantages:

  • silent regulation of an air stream;
  • replaceable filter;
  • stepwise regulation of air flow by means of a control valve;
  • the minimum probability of drafts due to the vertical distribution of air;
  • applicable to any load;
  • independent of the window block.

This valve works fully automatically and completely silently: a plastic membrane allows air to pass through or blocks its path. At normal wind strength, the membrane is in the open state.

In strong winds, the ventilation duct is closed by an air flow to avoid large heat losses due to active air exchange. With a decrease in external air pressure, the membrane again begins to pass air.

The device was developed specifically for use in panel buildings. Rehau AG has long identified the problem of ventilation and already in 1986 introduced the first ventilation duct for installation on translucent structures made of PVC profiles.

Recently, Aereco has become one of the most common companies for the production of ventilation devices, which offers a fairly wide range of these products.

The motto of this French company is "Reasonable ventilation".

Aereco supply and exhaust devices are automatically controlled by special sensors-actuators made of polyamide fabric.

This fabric tends to lengthen or shrink depending on changes in the relative humidity of the air.

The higher the humidity, the more the damper opens to allow air to pass through.

Aereco window valves effectively solve the problem of stuffiness, radon accumulation, release of excess water vapor and, consequently, condensation on glass and mold in rooms with sealed windows.

The Aereco damper cuts into the upper part of the window (into the sash), therefore, they react to changes in humidity right at the window itself.

Helpful advice!

Aereco offers a whole series of humidity-controlled air handling units that differ in terms of air flow and sound absorption.

Aereco supply units direct a jet of cold air under the ceiling, eliminating drafts in the serviced area and, when fully open, provide sound insulation from traffic noise of 33-42 dB.

They constantly, automatically 24 hours a day, in any weather, provide good air quality and regulate the air flow, depending on the need for ventilation.

Air inlets Aereco can be installed on all types of window frames - plastic, wood, aluminum.

In addition, they work without the use of electricity and are very easy to maintain: it is recommended to clean the valve once a year, without dismantling the device.

Many potential customers have a question: will the valves freeze in winter? Without heating the outside air, some parts of the valve body inside the room will inevitably be at the temperature of the outside air.

It would seem that the appearance of ice on them is inevitable. But here Aereco's signature design tricks come into play.

The valve is designed in such a way that the external dry cold air blows over the cold parts of the valve, preventing the internal warm moist air from contacting them. It is clear that in this case "freezing" is excluded.

For rooms with intense moisture release (kitchens, bathrooms, etc.), Aereco produces exhaust grilles that control the quality of the exhaust air depending on the level of humidity.

The exhaust grilles can be switched on manually or automatically using motion sensors. Removing moisture directly from the source of dehumidification has a positive effect on the humidity regime of the apartment as a whole.

In addition, the range of products includes fire dampers for exhaust devices, filters, fans.

But, back to window valves. In Moscow, many manufacturers of translucent structures supply their products with Aereco ventilation valves.

Since the installation of valves is possible not only in the workshop for the manufacture of windows, but also on already installed windows without dismantling them and replacing double-glazed windows, a number of large companies provide additional services for installing Aereco valves on windows that are already in operation.

It should be noted that the installation of these devices on the sash (frame-sash rebate, frame, sash or mullion profiles) does not reduce the light opening of the window, i.e. it does not get darker in the room, and this often becomes the determining criterion when choosing a ventilation device.

The problem of excessive sealing of modern pvc plastic windows with double-glazed windows and its negative consequences - stuffiness, high humidity, condensation on glass in the cold season, the appearance of mold and fungi on slopes and walls has long been known.

Usually, the consumer begins to blame the manufacturer of PVC plastic windows for all these troubles, since there were no such problems with the old windows!

However, in the vast majority of such problems - this is a consequence of a violation of air exchange in the room and stagnation of moisture released by the residents themselves in the course of their life.

Designers of residential buildings usually provide only exhaust ducts to remove dirty air from the premises (the same grilles that are in the kitchen, toilet and bathroom).

The influx of fresh air in GOSTs and SNIPs has always been implied through cracks in old wooden windows. For a long time, the so-called "carpentry" was used all over the world - windows made of wood with leaky porches, from which it constantly blew and thereby ensured a constant flow of fresh outside air into the room.

For the same reason, the owners of old windows did not know the problem of condensation and mold.

With closed modern pvc plastic windows, such an influx disappears, therefore, all the water vapor emitted by the residents during breathing, washing, cooking, etc. stays indoors.

In addition to water vapor, stagnates in the premises

  1. carbon dioxide released during respiration
  2. smells of finishing materials
  3. food flavors

Recently, employees of the sanitary and epidemiological supervision pay more and more attention to the accumulation of radon in residential premises without ventilation in PVC plastic windows.

It is a very dangerous, inert, colorless and odorless radioactive gas that is released from the ground and building materials.

Radon ranks second after smoking among the causes of lung cancer, and provides up to 80% of the total dose of human exposure in everyday life from natural (not man-made) sources.

The only means of combating radon that has entered a residential area is ventilation!

The installation of fittings for modern hermetic pvc plastic windows allows you to open the sashes, tilt them or make a “slit” opening for ventilation, but due to a number of technical and psychological reasons, residents do not always use this for the following reasons:

Yes, and my own everyday experience of many years of sealing cracks in old windows for the winter tells people that it is better not to open windows in winter.

It turns out a certain paradox: in order to keep the apartment warm and quiet, you need to keep the pvc plastic windows closed, and in order to avoid stuffiness and condensation on the windows, you must constantly open the pvc plastic windows!

2. A person needs at least 25m³ of fresh air per hour to ensure normal life and maintain sufficient working capacity. The lack of oxygen affects the health and increases the fatigue of people present in the room.

Helpful advice!

In a two-room apartment of 50m2, with a working gas stove, 140m3 of fresh air is required every hour. This means that the internal air must be completely replaced every hour (impact or cross-ventilation).

24 times a day for 5 minutes, no one will ever open a pvc window (especially at night!), Therefore, ventilation in the form in which it is does not provide ventilation standards!

3. When opening a pvc window, even in the "slit" ventilation mode, external air enters from the level of the window sill, causing drafts in the area where people are!

4. Noise insulation of a pvc window block is one of the main criteria when choosing a modern pvc window, however, the airborne noise insulation index is:

  • PVC window CLOSED – 34dB
  • Pvc window sash installation in SLOT VENTILATION MODE – 18dB
  • PVC window sash installation in VENTILATION MODE (FOLDED) – 9dB

And here we see a paradox:

Airing the room by simply opening a pvc window, even in the “slit ventilation” mode, also has other negative consequences:

  • a sharp temperature drop;
  • pollution of the premises with dust and the penetration of allergenic pollen into it;
  • lower security in terms of unauthorized access to the premises from outside (an open window, especially on the lower floors, attracts attention).

All of the above leads to the fact that residents, despite all the advantages of modern pvc windows, experience discomfort due to a violation of air exchange in the living room, but are reluctant to use the possibilities of pvc window fittings for ventilation.

SOLUTION OF THE PROBLEM OF VENTILATION: INSTALLATION OF THE AIR SUPPLY VALVE AEREKO ON THE WINDOWS!

A compromise was found with the invention of special AEREKO ventilation inlet valves, which are installed directly in a plastic window.

Installing the AEREKO supply ventilation vent valve allows you to let outside air into the room without opening the sashes of plastic windows.

Naturally, for the passage of air there must be either a hole in the window frame or a gap between the end of the double-glazed window and the window profile, however, when installing AEREKO supply ventilation valves, cold air enters under the ceiling without causing drafts in the area where people are located.

Benefits of installing a fresh air vent valve on windows

  1. The throughput capacity of the ventilation valve for supply ventilation is up to 35 m3 of air per hour, which fully complies with the norms for air inflow.
  2. Sound insulation of AEREKO supply ventilation valves, depending on the configuration, up to 42 dB, which corresponds to the sound insulation of modern sealed windows in the closed state.
  3. The jet of cold air from the AEREKO ventilation damper on the windows is directed towards the ceiling and does not cause drafts in the area where people are located; fresh air is supplied by the AEREKO fresh air ventilation damper without a noticeable increase in the noise level in the room.
  4. Unlike periodical ventilation, fresh air is supplied through the ventilation valve for AERECO plastic windows PERMANENTLY, which prevents radon from accumulating in the room. The ventilation valve for the supply ventilation for AEREKO windows does not close hermetically and this is not a defect, but was made SPECIALLY to reduce the risk of freezing of the valve and freezing of the AEREKO damper.
  5. AEREKO supply air vent valves do not reduce the light opening, as the supply ventilation valve for plastic windows is small and is mounted in the upper part of the window on a through rectangular slot.
  6. Installation of a ventilation valve for AEREKO plastic windows is possible not only during the manufacture of the window in the production workshop, but also after the installation of the window at the facility without dismantling and replacing the double-glazed window.
  7. The use of a ventilation inlet valve for AERECO plastic windows allows solving almost all sanitary and hygienic problems in residential premises with sealed windows.

The AEREKO ventilation inlet valve can be considered, on the one hand, as a window accessory along with mosquito nets, window sills, blinds, etc., and on the other hand, as ventilation equipment.

INSTALLATION OF THE SUPPLY VALVE ON AEREKO WINDOWS SOLVES PRACTICALLY ALL SANITARY AND HYGIENIC PROBLEMS IN RESIDENTIAL PREMISES WITH HERMETIC WINDOWS AND SAVE ALL THE ADVANTAGES OF MODERN WINDOWS!

As you know, cheap is not good ... Installing supply valves on plastic windows is associated with fairly high costs.

For example, the cost of an AERECO ventilation damper of the EMM or EHA series in a complete set, including the damper itself, an acoustic visor and a mosquito net, can reach up to 150 EURO. The VENT Air II valve will cost a little less - 2000 rubles.

For all their uniqueness, these supply valves have one significant drawback, their high-quality installation is possible only in the factory.

In the upper part of the plastic window, 2 through channels are cut on a special milling machine in the profile of the frame and sash.

It is not possible to perform this type of work on previously purchased and already installed windows.

Yes, there are "craftsmen" who offer this service. It happens like this. The master fixes a massive metal template alternately on the sash and on the frame, subject to its availability, in most cases - this happens “by eye”.

On this, as a rule, the installation ends, the resulting torn edges of the frame are closed with parts of the supply valve. The cost of this type of work is regulated only by the greed of these "masters".

The owner of the window receives a damaged window, a mountain of metal and plastic filings within a radius of 2 meters from the window where the work was done. Buyer is being scammed.

All owners of plastic windows who did not order supply ventilation at the time of installation of the product, the Center of Windows advises to pay attention to the Russian supply ventilation valve Air-Box Comfort.

Its cost does not exceed 400 rubles, the installation does not require milling of plastic profiles, and absolutely anyone who knows how to hold a screwdriver can handle the installation. The valve is sold with detailed installation instructions and all necessary fasteners.

The Windows Center offers to get acquainted with the process of installing the Air-Box Comfort valve using the example of an ordinary Moscow apartment. For convenience, we put down the time spent by our customer on installation work.

Comfort is the supply valve AERECO (AERECO)!

Do your windows breathe at night?

A person wants to live not just in a warm house, he wants to live in comfortable conditions. In relation to the air environment of an apartment, this concept includes temperature, humidity and air velocity.

It is the right combination of these parameters that allows a person to feel comfortable. The composition of the air is also of great importance.

When people breathe in a room, the oxygen content decreases and the concentration of carbon dioxide and other harmful impurities increases. The content of water vapor in the air also increases, i.e. air humidity increases.

Only with the help of ventilation: the organization of constant controlled air exchange - letting in fresh air from the street into the apartment, which mixes with dirty air and, going into the exhaust ventilation ducts, takes away excess water, carbon dioxide, unwanted impurities and odors from the apartment.

It's called: VENTILATION.

If the apartment is empty, for example, in the morning everyone went to work and school, the release of moisture will be minimal. Moisture will enter the volume of the room only due to evaporation from flowers, an aquarium (if any) and pets.

Since there are always some gaps in the windows, front door and walls, throughout the day the outside air will "dilute" the air in the apartment, reducing its relative humidity.

Obviously, by the time the tenants return, the humidity will drop to some constant level, let's call it "baseline" humidity or "empty apartment humidity."

The value of the “basic” humidity will depend on the air temperature outside (the stronger the frost, the drier the air in the apartment), its relative humidity, and also on the moisture release in the premises.

In well-heated apartments in severe frosts, the relative humidity level can drop to 10-15%, which is unhealthy and, on the contrary, it is recommended to specially humidify such air to prevent respiratory problems.

But with the arrival of residents, the picture changes significantly.

Wet shoes, breathing and sweating, using the bathroom, cooking, washing and drying clothes all cause an increase in relative humidity (evening humidity spike).

When all things are done, people rest and then sleep, the humidity level gradually decreases (intense ventilation before going to bed speeds up this process, of course).

A window left ajar in the bedroom, of course, also helps to more intensively remove moisture from the apartment. In the morning there is a second surge in humidity levels (shower, boiling kettle, etc.).

Even at night, when, for example, one couple is sleeping, they release about 2 liters of water. That's why it's so common to hear people wake up with a headache.

Another conclusion suggests itself, if at night, for example, people sleep in bedrooms, then the influx of fresh air should be organized mainly in the bedrooms.

An increase in the flow into the living room will be required, on the contrary, in the evening, when the family gathers at the TV, ventilation of empty bedrooms is not required at this time.

Indeed, the cold air coming from the street must be heated, and this requires the expenditure of thermal energy.

Experts estimate the share of heat costs for heating ventilation air at 50-70% of the total cost of heating housing (for houses with modern energy-saving windows and warm walls).

As long as tenants pay fixed amounts for heat, they have no incentive to conserve heat energy by making a careful trade-off between fresh air demand and heat conservation (as in the West).

Currently, the problems of heat saving affect only the owners of individual residential and public buildings, who pay the real cost of heat or fuel for boiler houses.

But even residents of high-rise buildings receive real savings from reasonable energy savings. Each apartment receives a certain amount of heat from the heating plant, brought by hot water heating systems.

With a decrease in the temperature outside, the amount of this heat automatically increases. But they still need to be managed properly.

If the apartment has old, poorly closed, leaky windows, through the cracks of which cold air seeps through, the heating system will simply not be able to raise the air temperature to a comfortable one.

For the winter, you yourself need to take care of their tightness, plug the cracks, seal them with paper, etc. And in special cases, you need to turn on the heater and pay for it according to the meter.

If you replace old wooden windows in an apartment with modern ones, you will definitely feel that the apartment has become much warmer and quieter. But as often happens, solving one problem can lead to another.

Without standard air exchange, the level of relative humidity, the concentration of carbon dioxide, harmful impurities, radon gas, etc. increase.

The result is known:

  • moisture condensation on double-glazed windows during the cold season (especially in renovated premises)
  • mold on slopes
  • stuffiness

The fact is that the gaps in the old windows provided an influx of fresh, dry air and, in a certain sense of the word, constantly ventilated the apartment.

When large companies gathered, wet cleaning and large washings took place, the well-known ventilation windows came to the rescue.

Note!

With the replacement of windows, the situation changed - the air flow dropped sharply.

Grilles in the kitchen, bathroom and toilet are only part of the ventilation system, they are ways for the exhaust air to exit.

Without fresh air entering through the window, the hood does not work - it has nothing to pull out of the apartment. Only what comes out comes out!

Of course, it is possible to open the window sash in one way or another, using the capabilities of modern fittings: tilt-and-turn opening mechanism, slot ventilation, opening limiters.

Consider just three things:

  • in any case, cold (especially in winter) outside air will enter the room already from the level of the window sill, i.e. You will get drafts in the area where people are located.
  • you will largely lose the soundproofing properties of a modern window (from 34 dB (A) to 18 dB (A) in the “slot ventilation” mode and up to 9 dB (A) in the normal ventilation mode). But they often go out into noisy busy streets.
  • a slightly open sash on the lower floors leads some people to the idea of visiting your apartment uninvited. It is better to forget about the old way of “airing before going to bed” altogether.

You will sharply supercool the bedroom due to volley hyperventilation, and then in an hour or two, with the windows closed, you will again breathe dirty air. Headache in the morning is not surprising in this case.

In addition, you never know exactly how long and how to open the window. Insufficient opening does not completely eliminate stuffiness, and excessive opening reduces the temperature in the room.

Helpful advice!

The various methods of "micro-ventilation" offered by PVC profile manufacturers do not solve the problem either.

With this method, a small amount of external air enters the room through holes and slots organized in the window profile itself and, diluting the humid air in the area of the window niche, reduces the likelihood of fogging of the double-glazed window.

But the amount of air of 1-2 cubic meters per hour at a pressure drop of 10 Pa does not meet the standards for air inflow (30-60 cubic meters per hour - according to the “Air exchange rate or the amount of air removed from the room” SNiPa 2.08.01- 89 requires 3 cubic meters per hour per 1 sq.m of residential premises).

No, it is precisely a constant and controlled ventilation process that should be organized in residential premises.

Fresh air must in one way or another get through the windows into the living rooms, dilute the dirty air, go through the interior doors into the corridor, get to the exhaust vents in the kitchen and go back to the street, taking away excess moisture, carbon dioxide, etc.

And perhaps the most important thing: a person cannot know when, where, how long to ventilate.

He most often learned what he needed after damage had already appeared, for example from moisture.

Some companies that produce plastic profiles for the manufacture of windows have come up with special profiles with adjustable ventilation holes.

True, these adjustments are made manually at random, and such special profiles can be used at the time of manufacture of a new window.

But what if the windows are already in the apartment? In addition, in addition to plastic, many windows are made of wood and aluminum, this method is not suitable for them.

Now not only window makers and specialists are talking about this, but also those people who have paid quite a lot of money for new windows.

A number of companies produce special supply valves for windows. Some of them are installed in a small through hole in the window frame, others replace part of the double-glazed window, reducing, unfortunately, the light opening of the window.

Again, manually they can either be closed completely, or stepped, or smoothly opened. It is always very difficult to choose the optimal damper position.

For automatic control, you need to select some physical parameter that indicates that the air in the room is polluted and it is time to change it.

Indeed, all human activities (breathing, cooking, washing, etc.) lead to an increase in relative humidity.

In addition, increased humidity leads to dampness in the apartment, mold on wallpaper and furniture, fogging of windows and window slopes.

Therefore, such hygro-controlled automatic ventilation systems should open smoothly with an increase in humidity, well, and when everyone has gone to work, reduce the flow of street air so as not to cool the apartment in vain.

Since 1983, the French company AERECO has been producing a unique ventilation system that offers automatic air inlets for installation on plastic windows.

The AEREKO supply units of the EMM and EHA models can also work autonomously without exhaust grilles (in this case, the efficiency of the system in terms of energy saving is somewhat reduced).

They are small-sized, do not occupy a light aperture, because. are mounted on a through hole on the window frame from the outside and the sash from the inside, and, most importantly, even when fully opened, they do not impair the noise-protective properties of the window, even when fully opened, the transport noise damping index ranges from 33 to 42 dB (A) depending on the version ( the PVC window itself has 30-35 dB(A) when closed).

Helpful advice!

You can install them on the window of any materials.

You can install them on a window made of any materials, both in the process of their manufacture in the workshop, and in a lived-in apartment without dismantling and replacing the double-glazed window.

Installing them in the upper part of the window allows you to direct a stream of external air under the ceiling without causing drafts in the area where people are located.

In European countries, these devices have long been known and widely used. Now these products can be installed by Eurostyle specialists in your apartment to improve your comfort and quality of life!

Recently, plastic windows are increasingly being used in various areas of construction of buildings and structures. Due to the majority of advantages, these structures can be used both in residential construction and in industrial construction. They protect well from heat and cold, prevent the penetration of noise and various odors, as well as harmful insects. But there is a huge drawback, which is to prevent the penetration of air into the room.

Here it can be noted that this is not entirely a lack of plastic. It can be noted that these particular structures are not provided for houses that were built in past centuries.

Ventilation and plastic: compatible or not?

Why, in the modern world, have not yet come up with a way to effectively ventilate windows? Here you need to be more imbued with the question. Everything here was based on the presence of a hood in the kitchen and bathroom, as well as ventilation through the door and window slots. This technique was invented a long time ago and has already met the expectations of the inventors.

And now you can look at this invention from the side of arranging new plastic windows. When the structure goes through the installation process, all cracks and gaps are sealed, thereby forming humidity in the room. This disrupts natural air exchange due to no air entering the room. Indoors at home or it becomes stuffy, humid and discomfort begins. Here such a process can also begin, which will be as follows: all the air will not leave the room, but will remain constantly there, and also all the smells from the neighboring apartments will be completely felt by you.

Here you can highlight other problems that arise during operation. Due to the constant closing of windows, condensation may form inside the structure, which will prevent the normal use of materials. It is best to keep the windows on the micro-ventilation function to prevent fogging of the windows.

Plastic window ventilation mode

Of course, you can get rid of such problems with a simple ventilation in several built-in modes. Also, when purchasing, you should consider the number of cameras. In the presence of a cold temperature regime, it is better to buy multi-chamber windows that will retain heat much better. Of course, you will have to overpay for the quality, but the result will not keep you waiting.

Combination of ventilation and windows

Is it possible to combine ventilation and windows? The answer is simple - you can. There are quite a few options for the device. There are quite a few combinations, some of which are:

  • with a window;
  • with self-ventilation;
  • with a comb;
  • with ventilation valve;

Drilling a hole for installing a vent valve

Ventilation valve on the side of the room

And from the side of the street

Windows with a window

A fairly common method of ventilation, which has been used for quite a long time. It provides for the intake of air under the ceiling in the room, which then mixes with the room air, thereby forming a cool and clean product. It eliminates the appearance of drafts or condensation in the window.

The disadvantages of this design are a rather large increase in the cost and complexity of the design, which increases the weight of the materials. It is worth noting here that with the complexity of the design, a large amount of light flux is lost, which makes the room rather dark. This is not always good.

Plastic windows with self-ventilation

Self-ventilated windows are the best option for installation in all buildings. They can be used both in civil and industrial construction. This option lies in the fact that the structures use profiles with holes at the top and bottom of the frame. Holes are located in the upper inner and lower outer parts. Air masses, passing through the lower part, are heated, and already heated air enters the room.

The principle works very well, but has some limitations. Such structures cannot be installed on the upper floors due to the insufficient amount of incoming air. From such a shortcoming in many systems, a ventilation valve for windows has recently become widespread.

Windows with combs

These windows are the most widely used today. With such a device, a regulator is built into the windows, which allows you to either open the window completely or open it in several modes.

Such a mechanism is very inexpensive, but gives a pretty good result. The comb makes it possible to regulate all incoming masses and leave the window in the intermediate position mode.

Vent valve in windows

For normal operation, such a device must combine several functions for full operation. Subject to such laws, the entire room will be in constant ventilation, which will ensure normal temperature conditions. It should be noted here that such a valve has several varieties, which are called classes. Classes are very different from each other and have different mounting methods.

To put the valve in the window frame, you can either replace the entire double-glazed window, or replace the part that is responsible for ventilation. There are also disadvantages, which are to increase the cost and weight of the structure. Such operations are carried out in less than an hour, but guarantee a fairly good result.

Next, you need to decide on the control mode. Here, as in any design, both automatic and manual modes can be used. These options have their own differences, which are as follows. With the help of manual ventilation, you can adjust the ventilation, thereby placing it where you need it. Partial ventilation is applicable here, which allows these processes to be carried out only where it is required. As for automatic control, everything is very simple. The mechanism built into the windows itself regulates the required temperature and, if necessary, adds air masses of the desired temperature. However, there is a third option, which combines all the advantages and removes many of the shortcomings of the two previous modes. This is mixed mode. It allows you to customize any mode when it suits you.

Operation in winter

There may appear their own problems, which are the appearance of condensate. But such a disadvantage is impossible to predict. In all cases, everything will be different. Such a consequence will depend on the temperature of the outside air, the material of the walls, the intimacy of the windows themselves.

Climate valve

When operating in winter, it is worth noting that under any circumstances the premises should be ventilated at least 2 times a week. This will ensure a fairly durable use of structures and protect them from condensation.

Installation

Considering this issue, you need to remember that it is better to hire good specialists who will install this structure with high quality.

With improper installation, all sorts of difficulties subsequently arise, which sometimes lead to decay with a large amount of moisture. This can lead to rather dire results and money will be thrown to the wind.

Installing a window ventilator

Very important . How to arrange it correctly - read in a separate article.

Supply ventilation on plastic windows allows you to constantly maintain a favorable microclimate in the room. We will discuss this aspect in more detail later.

Plastic windows provide almost complete sealing of the room. In the harsh Russian climate, this is a huge plus. In the warm season, the lack of oxygen is solved simply by airing, but in winter such a measure is impossible due to severe frosts. The lack of fresh air is fraught with many problems:

  • Fogging windows.
  • The appearance of fungus and mold on the slopes.
  • The mustiness of the air. This creates discomfort in the room.
  • Young children may develop allergic reactions.

Additional ventilation in a room with plastic windows is provided by installing special valves. They have different design features, but their main purpose is to let outside air into the room without temperature losses. They cope with this function, albeit with varying degrees of efficiency.

Tip: In most windows, you can adjust the closing density. In the warm season, set the sashes to summer mode - in this case, the frames will not close too tightly, which will allow oxygen to enter the room.

In what cases the organization of additional air circulation is necessary:

  • If small children live in the house. As already mentioned, the lack of oxygen can be detrimental to their health.
  • In rooms with many plants. Without oxygen, they will simply die.
  • When the house is warmed up with the help of convectors or oil radiators. Such heaters monstrously dry the air.
  • In production. In workshops (if they are associated with toxic substances), it is necessary to organize the maximum flow of fresh air.

All known varieties

The ventilation valve for plastic windows is only at first glance a simple device. It is divided into several varieties, which have significant design differences. You should know them in order to choose the best option.

This is the simplest, and most importantly, the cheapest option. With their help, outdoor air enters the room through small cutouts. The main advantages of this technology are as follows:

  • Low cost.
  • There is no need to dismantle the installed PVC windows.
  • Guarantees preservation of sound-proof properties of a double-glazed window.
  • High speed and ease of installation.
  • Possibility of automation.

Among all the advantages, there was one, but a very important minus - poor bandwidth. Because of this, rebate ventilation with closed windows has poor efficiency.

slotted

Fresh air enters the room through special channels. Usually they have a size in the range of 160-400 by 10-16 mm. As a rule, such a valve is equipped with two blocks - inlet and control. On more advanced models, it is one (universal). Technology advantages:

  • Absolute protection against external factors (precipitation, insects). This is ensured by the presence of a control unit.
  • High (in our case average) passing ability.
  • Can be used without dismantling the double-glazed window.

Serious minus in this case, you can find only one - a relatively complex installation. However, some models do not even have such a drawback (more on that later). Therefore, this category is the most popular now.

Overhead

In residential premises, such structures are practically not used. This is due to their serious shortcomings:

  • The thermal insulation properties of windows are seriously reduced.
  • Soundproofing is reduced to almost zero.
  • It is possible to install such a supply ventilation valve only before the installation of a double-glazed window. In particular, it is necessary to adjust the size of the opening.

However, this technology has found wide application in the manufacturing sector. The main reason for this is the highest throughput.

Market leaders - Aereco and Air-box

The domestic valve market was 90% occupied by two manufacturers Aereco (France) and Air-box (Russia). You should have an idea about the features of their products:

High quality and practical

Valves from Aereko are an overlay that has an attractive appearance (there are color variations) that fits into any interior. The most optimal installation option is during the manufacture of PVC windows. However, if double-glazed windows are already installed, then installation can also be done. To do this, you will need to make a small drilling of the frames.

The device consists of 8 (16) moisture sensitive plates. Depending on the level of humidity, they can open or close the shutter. And they don't need power to work. The principle of operation is based on the physical law of thermal expansion.

You can even mount them on the wall. This method is used mainly in wooden structures, because it is extremely difficult to make milling of reinforced concrete structures. In terms of its qualities, this manufacturer looks like the best analogue on the market. However, it has an important drawback - the high price (from 2500 thousand rubles).

Cheaper equivalent

The Russian manufacturer of air-box makes its products much simpler, which at the same time almost does not lag behind in efficiency from its more expensive "brothers". Such models allow outdoor air to penetrate through the space between the frame and the sash. It leaks due to the replacement of the standard seal. To control the air flow, move the regulator knob.

Such models are much simpler and require manual control. At the same time, they carry two very important advantages - low cost (on average from 400 rubles) and a simpler installation technique. Air-boxes are installed in two ways - by means of frame milling (as with the previous manufacturer) and by replacing the seal (which will be discussed below).

Possible installation options

Forced ventilation in a window can be implemented in three ways, which vary greatly in complexity.

The most difficult method is to adjust the size of the opening

The most time-consuming and costly method is associated with the installation of the overhead elements mentioned above. They are mounted as follows:

  • The existing double-glazed window is removed.
  • The opening expands by the size of the lining.
  • The double-glazed window is installed back.
  • An overlay is installed in the resulting gap.
  • The cracks are covered with cement mortar (or something similar).

The technique looks deadly time-consuming and unreasonable. Therefore, no one does the work in this order, because this is fraught with cosmic expenditures of effort, time and money. It is necessary to take care of additional ventilation in advance, that is, before installing a double-glazed window.

The most thoughtful people, when ordering PVC windows, immediately plan to install an additional air supply. To do this, the opening is made a little wider than required by the double-glazed window. This technique is the most effective, and most importantly rational.

Installation instructions for Aereco models

However, what to do if the double-glazed window is already installed? Models from Aereco are installed using a simpler method. It consists in the following:

  • The location for the channel is selected. If possible, this should be the least visible area.

Please note: additional window fittings should not interfere with installation. Consider this fact when choosing a place.

  • Then the marking is done.
  • We fasten the bar to the selected place using special self-tapping screws for PVC structures.
  • We mark the location of the technological grooves on the porch.
  • Let's take the plank. Using a drill and an electric jigsaw, we cut holes in the sash and the frame itself.
  • Re-install the bar.
  • We fix the valve with special latches.

This procedure is relatively labor intensive. In addition, it requires the presence of special tools that are far from everyone. Another factor is that a person without proper experience will not be able to do the job accurately. Conclusion - the installation of such a device is best entrusted to a specialist.

Air-box - installation without problems

There is another technique that anyone can handle. The manufacturer of the air-box has created a model that mounts without the use of tools. The kit includes a special sealant and PVC screws. The work is done in the following sequence:

  • Select the intended installation location.
  • We cut off the standard seal in this place (which is located on the sash).
  • We insert a new one (from the kit).
  • Remove the protective film from the valve.
  • We fix it at the installation site of the new seal using special latches.
  • We close the flaps and make a mark on the frame along the length of the valve.
  • We cut off the existing seal in this place and install a new one in its place (the same from the kit).

If something turned out to be incomprehensible to you, you can watch the video from the manufacturer himself. It will allow you to clearly understand everything.

Hide

Plastic windows are quite popular, as they perfectly cope with the weather, resist the cold, isolate noise from the street, and have an attractive appearance. However, plastic does not allow air to pass through, and tightness can play a cruel joke. Ventilation for plastic windows is an important function that should not be neglected.

Why can the room be stuffy?

Solving the problem with a vent valve

For convenient airing of the room in the summer, it is enough to simply install.

Frost protection valve

Ventilation can also have negative sides, especially if its organization is approached incorrectly: for example, windows may begin to freeze. In order to prevent this from happening, it is necessary to properly adjust the valve, do not close it completely if the temperature is below zero outside. In this position, the device will be heated using warm air from the room and the windows will not freeze.

If it is necessary to close the valve, completely seal the gap from the street side through which cold air is supplied. You can do this with sticky tape. The main thing is to make sure that the hole is closed securely and that there are no gaps left.

Some apartment owners are afraid to install a valve for ventilation, as they are afraid that the room will become noisy. The probability of deterioration of sound insulation is actually small: this is due to the small size of the slot for the valve, especially since it can be closed at night.

Window vent valve installed on the sash

How efficient is the inlet valve?

It is worth taking into account the following feature of the valve: it not only supplies fresh air to the room, but also cools it, so you need to be prepared for the fact that the temperature in the room will become slightly lower. If your house does not have the most powerful heating, but you still want to install ventilation, you can consider a valve model that can warm up the air entering the room. This is a more technically complex device, so its price will be much higher.

For a comfortable microclimate in the house, fresh air is needed, which can be provided thanks to the supply valve. This is especially true where ventilation does not work well or blind windows are installed.

Reading 9 min.

The building codes of the past did not imply such tightness of the premises, which can be observed now. Air circulation was largely provided by door and window openings, the density of the porch in which left much to be desired.

A fundamentally different approach to glazing minimizes heat loss and provides excellent sound insulation of rooms. But at the same time, if you do not pay due attention to ventilation, comfortable living in such rooms is difficult to imagine.

Ways to ventilate plastic windows

The most in demand at the moment, and many of their owners faced the problem of controlled ventilation. Consider the common ventilation options for rooms glazed with PVC structures.

micro-ventilation

Another name for this ventilation method is slot ventilation. In fact, this is the opening of the window in such a way that a gap of several millimeters is formed between the sealing elements of the sash and the frame. Externally, both from the outside of the room and from its inside, the window looks completely closed, which minimizes attempts of unauthorized entry through it.

Turn the handle at an angle of 45 degrees and pull towards you

The micro-ventilation function will only work in units equipped with the appropriate fittings. Its principle of operation is quite simple: to open the sash in this mode, you need to put the handle at an angle of 45˚ between tilt and turn position.

Roto fittings for micro-ventilation

This method of ventilation is more in demand during the cold season, when the use of conventional options will lead to excessive cooling of the room. This is especially true in children's rooms and rooms with a high likelihood of drafts.

Stepped opening

Unlike the previous method, in which the adjustment options are limited to one position, stepped ventilation provides more opportunities for ventilation of the premises. The ventilation gap is adjusted in accordance with external and internal climatic conditions in several positions (from 3 to 5).

As in the case of micro-ventilation, the stepped mode is available if there are special fittings in the unit.

There are two options for it:

All the methods described above require the direct participation of people in the room, which is not always convenient. You can partially automate the ventilation process with the help of special window modules and built-in devices.

Installation of fittings for three-stage micro-ventilation on a plastic window:

self-ventilation

Self-ventilation of plastic windows can be implemented both directly in the window unit and with the help of supply valves mounted in the wall.

Supply wall valves

One of the most effective and relatively easy to install options is to install a ventilation valve in the outer wall of the building. When choosing this method, air enters the room either through mechanical supply, or without it, due to the difference in pressure outside and inside the room.

Supply valve KIV-125

Structurally, this is a plastic pipe of the appropriate length (slightly larger than the thickness of the wall), the inner cavity of which is covered with noise isolation material. From the outside, the pipe is closed with a two-layer grate to prevent insects, dust and debris from getting inside.

Supply valve Helios ZLA 100

From the side of the room, an adjustable valve is mounted with the possibility of completely blocking the air flow, for example, in case of strong wind. Also, the device is equipped with air filters.

Wall inlet valve device

Some, more complex models can be equipped with a fan, a heating element, temperature and humidity sensors, and a remote control.

Supply and exhaust ventilation "ThermoBarrier" P-230

Note! When choosing a supply valve, you should pay attention to the throughput of the device, the presence of a sufficient number of temperature conditions and the possibility of adjustment.

Most elements of wall inlet valves are sold separately, which makes it possible to assemble simple structures on your own.

Supply window valves

Unlike wall analogues, these ventilation elements are mounted directly into the window block. Depending on the design features and the method of ventilation, the following varieties are distinguished:

  • With manual adjustment. The valve is installed either on the leaf or on the block frame. In fact, this is an opening closed with decorative grilles on both sides, equipped with a valve, a filter element and a damper for adjusting the air flow.
Aereco inlet valve is mounted on the window sash

Another modification of the Aereco supply valve

  • Automatic valve. The throughput of such devices is electronically controlled, with the help of special sensors that monitor the state of the microclimate in the room and, accordingly, open the damper. This is much more convenient than constantly adjusting manually, but the cost of automatic models is quite high.
  • Seam valve. The easiest to install and affordable way to ventilate window blocks. Mounted in the sash rebate and outwardly hardly noticeable. Does not require milling grooves or drilling holes - just trim the seal.
  • slotted valve. Structurally very similar to the version with adjustment. The only difference is that in most models there is no way to control the incoming air flow.

    Air-Box Standard valve

  • Handle with ventilation. The lower part of the opening handle is made with ventilation holes and is somewhat larger than usual.

Handle with ventilation SK - 201

  • Overhead ventilation modules. Most often they are mounted on the sash, they have a bulky appearance, but they are quite effective (compared to the above options for window valves).

Pros and cons of supply valves

Pros:

  • Ventilation occurs without drafts and foreign pollution from the street;
  • Continuous operation provides a continuous supply of fresh air into the room.
  • Most devices are easy to use and install.
  • Even the most budget models significantly reduce the amount of condensate on window panes and frames.

Minuses:

  • At particularly low temperatures, frost may form on the valve;
  • Manual modifications require the constant participation of the user, otherwise it will either be cold or (with a large number of people) the freshness of the air will be far from desired;
  • Most window shutters partially violate the sound insulation, which causes an increase in noise in the room;
  • If there is no general ventilation in the apartment, the effectiveness of the valve is reduced to nothing.

Compact ventilation devices (breezers, ventilators)

Breezers (ventilators) are compact systems for supplying fresh, clean air to rooms.

Breezer Tion 3s

The supply is carried out either naturally or with the help of a fan. In the first case, quiet, energy-saving operation of the device is guaranteed, but problems with ventilation are possible if there is no difference in external and internal pressure.

Review and feedback on Breezer Tion 3S:

Ventilator with fan will provide proper ventilation, regardless of external climatic conditions, you only need to select the desired mode. In some models, the performance depends on the fan speed, the noise level produced by the device and its power consumption also depend on them.

The devices are equipped with filters of various degrees of purification. The number of elements and the level of filtration depends on the specific model, the most advanced of which are able to purify the air from the smallest dust particles. In addition, filtration at the molecular level is possible (for example, aftertreatment of exhaust gases).

Blauberg VENTO Expert A50-1 Pro ventilator

Breezers, unlike many ventilators, are more autonomous. It is enough to set it up once (specify the schedule, set the appropriate mode of operation) and it will automatically maintain the desired microclimate in the room.

Prices

Budget Breezer, calculated for 32 m2, costs - 21000 r. Model with performance up to 140 m3/hour43000 r.

Supply wall valve will be much cheaper - the cost fluctuates from 1000 r. for a simple device up to 8500 r. for a model with a turbine and a high-quality filtration system.

The cost of a valve mounted on a window without milling - from 350r. Overhead modifications requiring complex installation - up to 4500 r.

Valve mounting options

Mounting the patch valve on a metal-plastic window block is performed as follows:

More details can be seen in the video:

Installing a wall inlet valve in some situations requires special equipment. This primarily concerns the installation of large diameter valves in thick walls. To make a hole, you will need a powerful puncher and a drill of the appropriate diameter and length.

Such a tool is a rarity in the household. In addition, difficulties may arise when working on the upper floors. Otherwise, the installation of the wall valve does not require any professional skills and is carried out according to the attached manual.

The process of installing such valves in an apartment, see our video:
