Design and principle of operation

The radiation source is two low-pressure bactericidal lamps emitting ultraviolet rays with a wavelength of 253.7 nm, close to the maximum bactericidal effect of radiant energy, which suppresses the vital activity of microorganisms in the air and on the surfaces of the premises. Viruses and bacteria in their vegetative form (rods, cocci) are more sensitive to the effects of ultraviolet radiation.
By design, the irradiator belongs to the category of combined ones: it has an open and a shielded lamp. An open lamp can only be used in rooms free from people for quick air disinfection.
Due to the fact that radiation with such a wavelength causes photophthalmia and skin erythema, the irradiator is provided with a screen from the action of direct rays.
A screened lamp that irradiates the upper layers of the air is used indoors in the presence of people. The lower layers of air during operation of the lamp with a screen are disinfected due to convection.
The irradiators consist of a housing, a screen for the lamp, ballasts, starters and sidewalls.
