Bathroom window. Plastic windows for kitchen and bathroom

The kitchen and bathroom are important parts of any home, as well as places where we spend quite a lot of time. Both rooms, regardless of whether they are decorated in a modern or more traditional style, require the use of specific plastic windows that will be not only functional, but also beautiful, according to the portal WINDOWS MEDIA.

The kitchen is the true heart of the home, the meeting place for the whole family, and the room where there is always a lot going on. The bathroom, in turn, is an intimate place where we enjoy relaxing after a long day of work, taking a shower, plunging into a fragrant bubble bath or performing beauty treatments.

An important role in these rooms is played by the right windows, the appearance of which can be chosen in accordance with current interior design trends and your own preferences. What should be guided by when choosing a plastic window for this type of premises, the WINDOWS MEDIA portal will tell.

The functionality of a plastic window for the kitchen and bathroom

The window in the bathroom usually opens wide only to wash it or to carry out instant airing of the premises after water procedures. Whereas the kitchen window is used much more often, if only for the purpose of more ventilation during cooking, or simply to maintain eye contact and hear the voices of children playing in the street in front of the house.

The plastic window in the kitchen is usually installed above the sink and the water faucet prevents it from opening completely. The solution to this problem can be the use of a tilt-sliding window system. The tilt function available in them works identically as in "normal" plastic windows. The opening occurs through the extension of the sash from the frame - thanks to a special mechanism - and its movement parallel to the plane of the window to the required distance.

You should also remember the specifics of these most humid rooms: in order for the natural ventilation system to work correctly, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient supply of fresh air and the removal of exhaust air. Using climate valves only in kitchen and bathroom windows is a serious and fairly common mistake. Climate valves ensure the flow of air from outside, and ventilation grills installed in the kitchen and bathroom help to remove it. In order for the air to circulate properly throughout the house, ventilation must be carried out using supply valves installed on all plastic windows, including in rooms. Placing diffusers in the bathroom only closes off the air circulation in the room, leaving the rest of the house without proper ventilation.

Illuminated kitchen and bathroom interior

Today, it does not require proof that natural light entering the interior of the house has a positive effect on the well-being of family members and the comfort of using the building. In the case of rooms with a relatively small area of glazing that provides adequate lighting for the kitchen or bathroom, there is also the added advantage that they become visually larger.

Without sunlight entering the kitchen, it would also be impossible to grow indoor flowers or fragrant herbs on the windowsill. When choosing a PVC kitchen window, one should take into account optimal natural light and the issue of excessive heating of the interior.

The amount of light entering through the kitchen window can be adjusted using fabric roller shutters. This modern solution protects the premises from excessive sunlight and partially dampens the noise effects from the outside. Remote controlled shutters available on the market are simple and easy to use. Their color can match or contrast with the color of the interior.

In the case of a bathroom window, the lighting of the room is important while ensuring the privacy of the users. A good choice would be in favor of plastic windows with milky glass or decorative glazing. A decorative double-glazed window with a relief pattern transmits light, but distorts the visible image, allowing you to completely relax during water procedures.

Stained-glass windows in the bathroom will add sophistication to this room, and original window handles will emphasize its style, turning it from an ordinary room for washing off dirt into a unique corner for relaxation and ablution.

Fashion window appearance for kitchen and bathroom

For the bathroom, a round window is ideal, which will give the interior a unique, reminiscent of the look of a ship's interior.

For fans of traditional wooden windows who also appreciate very good thermal insulation, PVC window frames are ideal, imitating wood products and at the same time being much more resistant to moisture. These innovative solutions today can be ordered on the domestic market without any problems. The modern portfolio of window companies, consisting of various shapes and colors of profiles, allows the creation of a variety of tree-like plastic windows, taking into account the individual needs of customers.

A plastic window in the kitchen and bathroom can be "personalized" thanks to a wide range of accessories in the form of slats, decorative glazing beads or decorative elements glued onto the double-glazed window. For these premises, a mosaic or tiled window sill will look harmonious, which, in addition to the visual effect, also tolerates moisture well.

The beauty of a plastic window is not at the expense of functionality

Moisture reigning in the kitchen and bathroom is a dangerous human rival - it destroys appliances and furniture, causing a deterioration in the microclimate, promotes the spread of fungi and the appearance of mold on the windows. The best solution in dealing with excessive moisture in these areas is to immunize against the harmful effects of water by using a suitable finishing method and the use of waterproof materials. This rule also applies to windows. Plastic structures perfectly tolerate contact with moisture and, with proper ventilation, will do an excellent job in these difficult rooms. Compliance with the rules for the care of PVC windows will ensure that they will last in the kitchen and bathroom for many years.

A good and functional plastic window should be decorated with practical additions. For example, by placing pots of fresh mint or basil on the kitchen windowsill, you will also get fragrant greens for the table. If you put scented candles on the windowsill in the bathroom, they will give the room a relaxing and romantic mood.

In general, the right choice of plastic window and its accessories contributes to the fact that it fits perfectly into the interior decor of the kitchen or bathroom.

The layout of modern cottages involves the installation of full-fledged windows in the bathrooms, and in country houses and baths, small plastic windows to the bathroom are considered the norm. Most often, these are narrow fanlight structures located under the ceiling, or rotary ones filled with frosted glass, as in the photo.

Small plastic windows in the bathroom advantages

  • By ordering small bathroom windows with frosted glass, you protect yourself from prying eyes. A window measuring 50x50 cm is enough to not include additional lighting in the daytime.
  • Providing natural ventilation. By slightly opening the sash, you can quickly ventilate the bathroom without stopping water procedures.
  • Windows with frosted glass have another very important plus for housewives. Drops of condensate flowing down on the surface of transparent glass leave untidy marks, so as not to deal with them daily, you can use special, far from cheap means, or you can insert frosted, the difference in cost will be insignificant.
  • Additional savings. The window with frosted glass does not require blinds, diffused light enters the room.
  • Attractive design. A small plastic window with frosted glass opens up great opportunities for the designer. Made in white or another color, it harmoniously fits into the bathroom interior.

We offer windows of any shape and filling at manufacturer's prices. Work with professionals, this will help to avoid possible problems.

The interior of the bathroom depends not only on the internal filling with plumbing and furniture, but also on the architectural solutions of the building. The presence of a window in the room allows you to create a new look, increase the comfort of using the bathroom. It is desirable to provide windows at the design stage, but you can make an opening already in the finished house.

In the article we will give advice on the implementation of special construction work. What are the advantages of a room with a window?

  1. Daylight. All modern developments of lighting devices in terms of their technical characteristics only approach sunlight to one degree or another. As a result, the eyes get tired quickly, the color shades of the exterior wall decoration are distorted. In addition, the constant increase in the cost of energy carriers forces homeowners to take all measures to save them effectively. The window in the bathroom is the most reliable, safest and free source of light.
  2. Favorable indicators of the microclimate. The window allows you to ventilate the room, the air becomes much cleaner. In addition, accelerated ventilation allows you to quickly remove excess moisture.
  3. Visual increase in area. Due to the original design solutions, the bathroom acquires a prestigious look.
  4. Aesthetic pleasure. While taking water procedures, there is an opportunity to relax, admire the scenery, get close to nature.

Modern window systems allow you to minimize heat losses, the window almost does not lower the temperature in the room. Do not be afraid that because of it you will have to spend additional funds on heating the room.

The most common is the traditional rectangular window. But quite often you can find very original exclusive solutions.

window typeShort description
Allows you to remove the artificial barrier between the room and nature, can have sliding doors with access to the terrace. Provides maximum efficiency of natural light.
It is characterized by various geometric shapes, used for bathtubs located in attic rooms. Through the use of various light filters, it can completely change the interior of the bathroom.
Most often, several small windows are used. High placement protects the owners from unwanted prying eyes.
An undeservedly forgotten technology for filling window openings. Glass blocks perfectly transmit sunlight, but the rays are refracted to such an extent that it is impossible to distinguish internal objects from the street. Another plus of such windows is excellent heat saving performance.
Stained glass windows can be either traditional (expensive option) or painted (cheap option). Instead of stained glass windows, frosted and colored double-glazed windows with or without patterns can be inserted into the window frames.

stained glass film

If the window faces the street or is accessible to prying eyes, then to increase comfort, you need to resolve issues with its decor. Designers offer several decoration options that allow you to simultaneously maximize the amount of natural light and limit the visibility of the interior space. This takes into account the existing filling of the premises.

What can be used to close and decorate a window?

  1. Blinds. They are made of plastic, metal or natural materials. The drive is electric with a remote control or mechanical manual.
  2. . The main advantage is that in the raised position, the plane of the window is completely freed. They are made of various materials, sizes are easily selected for each window.
  3. . The traditional way of decorating, it transmits light well and at the same time hides the interior space.
  4. heavy curtains. It is recommended to close the windows at night with artificial lighting.

It is allowed to use combined window protection means, a specific decision is made taking into account the style of the room design.

What you need to know before making a window opening

According to existing regulatory documents, it is strictly forbidden to independently reduce the physical characteristics of load-bearing walls.

How to determine the purpose of the wall in the architecture of the building?

The load-bearing walls are the frame of the structure and perceive all the vertical loads of the elements located above, including the roof truss system. During the calculations of such walls, possible loads are taken as the initial data, after complex calculations, the thickness is selected taking into account the material of construction. To increase the safety of operation, a multiplying factor is included in the final parameters of the load-bearing walls. It is the presence of such a coefficient that allows, in some cases, to make openings not provided for by the project, but in the future they must be strengthened without fail. Any redevelopment of load-bearing walls can only be carried out after obtaining permission from the BTI.

The most correct method for determining load-bearing walls is to familiarize yourself with the floor plan of the house, it indicates the location of the floor slabs. In the old panel Khrushchev houses, the front walls and one of the internal partitions were load-bearing. Pay attention to which walls the ends of the floor slabs abut. Sometimes this is quite difficult and can only be done in the attic. There can be several floor slabs on one load-bearing wall, the gaps between them are sealed, which complicates the external inspection.

The general rule is that the thickness of the supporting structures cannot be less than thirty centimeters, the material of manufacture is solid brick or durable concrete. By measuring the thickness of the partitions, you can determine which of them is the carrier.

In monolithic houses, it is much more difficult to find out the location of load-bearing walls, in some projects they are completely absent, and concrete columns perceive the loads. The thickness of prefabricated block bearing panels is at least 20 cm, interior partitions are much thinner. In addition, they are made without reinforcement, they can be plasterboard, plasterboard and other fragile building materials.

Important. Often invisible engineering communications are located in load-bearing walls. Do not damage them while making the opening.

You should not take risks and start work without familiarizing yourself with the building project. Do not believe craftsmen who are ready to make a hole in any wall without studying its purpose and features of the building.

How to make a hole in a load bearing wall

Once again, we remind you that you can start work only with the permission of the BTI employees.

Step 1. Make markings on the wall, taking into account the size of the window. The opening around the entire perimeter should be 2-3 cm larger than the dimensions of the window frame. Marking is done using a level, corners are checked to guarantee.

Practical advice. Experienced builders, before marking, find the upper and lower masonry seams and make every effort to ensure that at least one cutting line coincides with them. This makes the job much easier.

Step 2 Check that the tool is working. The perimeter of the window opening must be cut off with a grinder with a diamond blade.

If you have the opportunity to use a professional tool - great. Such a cutter has a water-cooled disc, which greatly simplifies the cutting process and reduces the amount of dust. If there is no such tool, then measures should be taken to prevent dusting of neighboring rooms. In addition, you need to work in a respirator.

And one more important point. Coordinate the working time with your neighbors, sawing is a very noisy process.

Step 3 Vertical cuts are made first. Hold the tool correctly, be sure to use both hands. Another important point is that the disk should rotate on itself, and not vice versa. If you do not follow the direction of rotation, then the angle grinder will jump out of the wall with great effort, and this is fraught with very serious injuries.

Cut slowly to the full height of the diamond blade, try not to deviate from the line. If a deviation is found, then it is forbidden to correct it by turning the disk. It is necessary to remove the grinder from the slot, return the tool to a flat area and start a new cutting.

Step 4 After the vertical cut is completed, you can start the horizontal cut. It's much harder and harder. If the window opening is high, then it is necessary to prepare a comfortable, durable and stable platform. It is recommended to make several rows of vertical and horizontal cutting, breaking the solid opening into small sections. Due to this technology, the process of taking out pieces of the wall is simplified.

Practical advice. If you do not have a tool that can cut through the entire thickness of the wall at once, then you will additionally have to use a puncher.

After cutting along the perimeter of the contour, the material is gradually removed with a perforator. As it accumulates, remove construction debris, it interferes with work and can cause injury.

How to work with a perforator?

  1. Be sure to use personal protective equipment.
  2. Do not press hard on the instrument. The impact force does not change, and the wear of the device mechanisms increases. The impact depends on the speed of the chisel and its mass, the mechanism converts kinetic energy into impact mechanical.
  3. Do not operate the hammer drill without load. The fact is that in this case the internal mechanisms are forced to absorb all the impact force, which causes their premature destruction.
  4. If you plan to work with hard surfaces for a long time, it is recommended to change the lubricant to a thicker one. The shank of the chisel is lubricated every 10-15 minutes.
  5. Do not allow your hands to block the ventilation holes on the punch body. Clean them in a timely manner, prevent dust from entering the device. If the body is hot, allow time to cool down. The mechanism will cool down faster if it is switched to drilling mode and turned on at idle. The ventilation system will effectively remove excess heat energy.

Do routine technical care of the tool, and it will serve you for many years. Provided that the punch is made by well-known companies, and not in a Chinese basement. Remember that according to current legislation, you cannot work with a hammer drill from 23:00 to 7:00. Neighbors have every right to sue if the "law of silence" is violated. But in each region, local authorities can adjust the quiet time to suit local conditions.

If metal bars are found, change the direction of impact, do not allow the chisel to contact the reinforcing belt. The bars after cleaning from concrete are cut off by a grinder with a disk for metal.

Step 5 Carefully align the planes of the opening along the lines, remove all unnecessary protrusions. As for the pits, they will be repaired without any problems during the installation of the window in the bathroom.

Strengthening the window opening

A very important stage for load-bearing walls, strengthening the opening should be done immediately after cutting through the window. Prepare material and tools. You can reinforce the opening with any metal roll of the appropriate size, but it is best to do this with a channel with a shelf width equal to the thickness of the wall.

If there is no such assortment, then it is allowed to use corners, they should be installed on both sides of the wall, and connected to each other with metal jumpers.

Step 1. Measure the opening and cut the metal blanks.

Important. Horizontal lintels must lie on vertical supports. Not to adjoin, namely to lie down, you mean it.

Cut the blanks to size. The length of the two vertical posts must be exactly the same, the same requirement applies to jumpers. The ends of the cut should be at an angle of 90° to the side surfaces.

Step 2 Clean the rolled metal from dirt and rust and treat the surface with an anti-corrosion coating.

Important. Metal conducts heat much better than bathroom wall materials. This means that metal structures will create a cold bridge around the perimeter of the window. To eliminate the negative consequences, additional measures should be taken to prevent the appearance of condensate on the metal surface. What needs to be done for this we will describe below.

Step 3 Insert vertical posts and horizontal lintels into the window opening, temporarily fix with props. Using a level, carefully check their position, control the corners with a building square. Do not forget that the dimensions should be 2-3 cm larger than the window frame. If necessary, correct the contour of the opening.

Step 4 Using electric welding, connect individual metal elements into a single structure.

Step 5 After the metal has hardened, remove the slag and cover the clean surfaces with anti-corrosion coatings.

This completes the process of making a window opening in the load-bearing wall of the bathroom, you can proceed with the installation of the structure.

GOST requirements for installation work

For example, we will consider the installation of a metal-plastic window - the most common option.

The bathroom has a specific microclimate, this should be taken into account when installing the window.

  1. Holes for fasteners should be evenly spaced around the mullions. The diameter of the holes depends on the dimensions of the fastener. The length of the recess for anchors in concrete and solid bricks must be at least 40 mm, in hollow bricks and blocks 60 mm.
  2. PSUL tape is glued along the perimeter of the frame from the inside, it provides additional sealing of the window. Cold air will not penetrate between the frame and the wall. This is very important for bathrooms, due to the high humidity, the dew point here is low. In addition, as we have already mentioned, the metal structure used to reinforce the window opening made becomes a cold bridge, which should be protected from the ingress of moist air. If the distance between the lower part of the frame and the opening is more than 40 mm, then a diffusion tape with the same properties is used for insulation.
  3. The opening must be cleared of construction debris and dust, if necessary, some sections of the wall are strengthened.
  4. To improve adhesion, the walls of the opening are wetted with water. This stage of the installation of plastic windows skips most of the crews, for them the main thing is speed, not quality. The dry surface of the perimeter of the opening does not allow the mounting foam to attach firmly.
  5. The bottom of the box should not rest on the opening; there are special plastic wedges for this. Elements are placed at angles and imposts of the structure; a building level is used to level the position. The check is done at the site of the removed glazing bead. This is done due to the fact that the rebate part of the frame may be uneven, this is allowed by the production technology of metal-plastic windows.
  6. Holes in the opening are drilled under the level, the planes must be strictly vertical. Otherwise, the window sashes will spontaneously close or open. The anchors are hammered in to the stop only when the melting position of the frame is checked and all elements are baited.
  7. A diffusion tape is placed before the installation of the ebb. The gap between it and the opening is carefully foamed. The ebb is fixed to the supply profile with small self-tapping screws. And, unfortunately, not all professional builders do this operation. Remember that in bathrooms, insulation performance is very important. To reduce noise during rain, mounting foam is applied at low tide.

    Panel installation

  8. Adjustment of fittings is done after installation is completed.

Do not forget to remove the protective film from the surface of the frames and sashes. If it is left for a long period of time, then under the influence of sunlight, the coating is firmly welded to the plastic, it is very difficult to remove it.

Common myths about plastic windows

  1. Do not drill holes in the frame, because of them condensation appears. This is a complete lie, the manufacturers themselves specially drill holes to drain condensate and rainwater that has fallen through loose connections.
  2. Windows have special openings for circular air circulation through the frame chambers. Due to this, it constantly heats up, the surface is dry, condensation does not appear, and heat losses are reduced. These myths contradict the elementary laws of physics and are spread by unscrupulous advertising agencies.
  3. Fixing is done with metal mounting plates. They are screwed to the frame with self-tapping screws, and to the wall with dowels. This cannot be done, thin plates are not able to withstand wind and mechanical loads and are deformed. The window frame must be fixed to the window opening only with anchors or dowels (direct fastening to the wall). A hole is made in the frame, and a recess is drilled in the wall.

    The frame rests on plastic wedges

Video - Bathrooms with windows

The window in the bathroom acts as a decorative element, as well as a source of natural light. It visually expands the space, fills it with light and air.

Benefits of a bathroom with a window

Such a bathroom has many advantages, among which are especially important:

  • natural ventilation of the room;
  • energy savings due to daylight;
  • additional opportunities for creating decor: placement of moisture-loving indoor plants, design of a window sill and slopes, selection of textiles;
  • the view from the window (if it faces the street), which will bring color to the room, make it more comfortable and illuminated.

View of the window opening in the bathroom

Depending on the layout and size of the bathroom, the window opening in it can be:

  • round;
  • square;
  • rectangular;
  • asymmetrical;
  • in the form of a porthole;
  • attic;
  • French (to the floor).

Such forms are most often found in private houses; you cannot find such a variety in apartments. In the old buildings of the Khrushchev type there is a small window near the ceiling, overlooking the kitchen. There are options when the window connects the bathroom and the bathroom.

Window from the bathroom to the kitchen or toilet

In the houses of the Stalinist and Khrushchev buildings, all bathrooms are equipped with small openings located at a height of 170 cm. Their function was to illuminate the room during planned power outages, which occurred frequently in those days.

Now such an opening can be used as a decorative element, as well as for airing the room in order to prevent the appearance of mold, fungus and unpleasant odors.

Wooden frames are recommended to be replaced with plastic ones with an opening function. Colored or stained glass will look beautiful instead of simple. In addition, designers recommend increasing the opening, if possible.

Window to the street

If the window faces the street, the glass should be selected taking into account the view that opens behind it. If you have a beautiful view, you can install transparent glass. If the view does not allow or the viewing angle is wide enough, then it is better to install corrugated or tinted glass so that strangers cannot watch what is happening in the bathroom.

The arrangement of furniture and plumbing depends on the layout and dimensions of the bathroom.

Most often, a bath or shower is located near a large opening. This allows you to enjoy the view from the window while taking a shower or bath. In this case, it is necessary to insulate the outer wall and the opening, otherwise cold air will penetrate into the room, and heat, on the contrary, will quickly exit through the cracks.

The disadvantages of such placement include a difficult approach to the opening (see photo).

If you place a sink opposite the window, you can see a beautiful view (if any), but the question arises of placing a mirror. It will have to be hung a little further, which will make it difficult to use it. An alternative would be a small mirror on a swivel arm.

fake

In most cases, this technique is used to hide flaws (uneven walls, ledges, etc.).

It can be made using the methods below.

  1. A finished frame is attached to the wall (having previously hidden lighting fixtures behind it) and an opaque double-glazed window is inserted into it.
  2. The window frame is made of platbands or moldings and a mirror is placed in it instead of glass. A photograph or photo wallpaper depicting a natural landscape can become a replacement for it.

Wall mural is an impractical material, because they lose their appearance under the influence of moisture and steam. You need to take care of a protective coating, which can be used as glass or varnish.

False can be installed on the ceiling. In this case, it will replace the standard lamp. An LED strip is installed inside or under the frame, and then tinted glass is inserted.

bathroom layout with window

There are 2 design options for a bathroom with a window. In the first case, it acts as an addition to the interior, and in the second - as the main element around which the entire design of the room is built.

Toilet under the window

In the presence of a combined bathroom, you can install a toilet bowl under the opening. Modern technologies and various innovations make it possible to do this. You can choose a toilet model with decorative elements.

If a heating battery is located under the opening, and there is no possibility to move it, then this option is possible only if the necessary communications are brought there. Therefore, you first need to design the connection of the sewer pipe to the toilet.

In addition, the toilet can be placed slightly away from the window opening or against the adjacent wall. It should be borne in mind that at least 80 cm of free space must be left directly in front of it, otherwise it will be inconvenient to use it.

Sink under the window

For this option, it is important to choose the right mixer and convenient taps. You can embed the sink into the window sill by pre-mounting a special countertop.

Instead of a recessed washbasin, you can install a sink-bowl, while the countertop for it will be an extended window sill. This is convenient if you need to place a lot of improvised accessories.

If there is free space on both sides of the window, you can put wardrobes or racks for bath items there.

bathtub under the window

This arrangement of the bath has its advantages and disadvantages. You will have to carefully insulate the walls facing the street and close up the cracks in the opening, because. any double-glazed window passes cold air into the room.

The main disadvantage is that strangers can watch what is happening in the bathroom. In this regard, it is worth buying curtains or roller blinds. Textiles are an elegant decoration of the bathroom.

When placing a bathtub under a window, you should take care of free access to it for ventilation and washing the glass. To this end, the bath can be moved to the side.

If the window is high, then instead of a bath, you can install a shower cabin under the opening. If it is located in the center of the wall, then you can install a corner bath. Thus, the approach to the window will remain free, and in the cold season, cold air from it will not reach the bath.

Window as an architectural element

If the area of the bathroom allows, then the window can be used as the main element of decor without placing furniture and plumbing under it.

But it is undesirable to place a mirror on a parallel wall, because. the light from the window will distort and obscure the reflection.

If the window is located opposite the door, then you can place pieces of furniture on both sides of it or along one wall (if the room is narrow).

Materials for finishing the opening

The design of the opening should be combined with the overall style of the room. In addition, you need to choose materials that will not deteriorate under the influence of moisture and steam. For such purposes, plastic is suitable.

Depending on the design goals, the opening can be either with or without a window sill. The frame can be combined in color with the interior or contrast. So, you can make a bright accent by highlighting the window area.

Designers advise laying out the window sill with tiles: it is not susceptible to damage, it is easy to wash and clean. Suitable for decoration and natural stone or its imitation. If it is not possible to purchase such materials, you can putty the slopes and paint them in the desired color.

Curtains or blinds

When choosing curtains, you need to pay attention to the material. Curtains made of natural fabrics are not suitable for the bathroom, because. they absorb and retain moisture well, and after a while fungus will begin to appear on them.

It is best to use special fabrics for rooms with high humidity.

Based on the design of the room, you can choose curtains, shutters or roller shutters. For example, for an eco-style bathroom, wooden shutters or blinds are suitable. In this case, the material must be treated with a special compound against wood decay and fungus.

Metal blinds are suitable for all modern styles. Roller blinds can be used in any interiors, except for classic ones.

bathroom design with window

The size and shape of the window opening in the bathroom depends on the layout of the bathroom in the apartment or country house. In typical apartment buildings, a large window in the bathroom is rarely found, while in cottages this is a common option.

When developing a bathroom project or thinking through the design of a room, you need to start from the configuration and size of the window opening.

Rectangular or square windows

Rectangle and square are common window shapes that allow you to design a room in any style and color combinations.

In addition, the bathroom may have several openings. Most often, these are 2 narrow rectangular windows located next to each other.

It is necessary to take into account the compatibility of finishing materials. For example, wooden panels, furniture, blinds are not compatible with plastic frames. In this case, you should choose wooden frames or plastic that imitates wood.

Designers advise choosing a bath according to the shape of the window.

round window

The round window is not common, because. this form is not standard. But such a window can be originally decorated.

With a round opening, you need to carefully select the design style. Most often in such premises use:

  • classic style;
  • modern;
  • nautical;
  • Scandinavian.

Distinctive features of these styles are natural materials, natural shades, smooth curved lines.

Arched window in the bathroom

This form is suitable for recreating the atmosphere of an old castle. The abundance of textiles, natural finishing materials (stone, wood, marble), stucco will add sophistication to the room. The light must be soft. Candles, crystal and forged chandeliers, wide curtains look organic in such an interior.

Faucets, faucets, towel holders made of copper or brass will also be appropriate in a castle style. The bathroom and sink should have rounded, streamlined shapes so as not to contrast with the design.

Panoramic window in the bathroom

A panoramic window is the main element in the room, so the design must be selected in accordance with it. It can occupy both the whole wall and part of it (i.e., located above the floor level). This technique makes the room bright, spacious, fills it with air.

The choice of design in this case depends entirely on the view from the window. In the presence of an urban landscape, high-tech and loft are preferred. The natural landscape provides for the design of the room in the styles of eco, provence, art nouveau, African, classical, etc. The color scheme is selected in accordance with the interior design.

Sliding curtains are suitable for curtaining a large panoramic window. They will create a cozy and warm atmosphere in the room. In addition, in the evening it is better to curtain the opening to avoid prying eyes and create an intimate atmosphere.
