Next, you need to remove the heat exchanger itself. In the model under consideration, there are no threaded connections; the tube through which water is supplied and removed is connected using an adapter. On one side of the heat exchanger is a temperature sensor, from which the wires should be carefully disconnected.

Cleaning plate heat exchangers

The heat exchanger disconnected from the system should be cleaned from the outside and inside of the formed dirt, rust and scale. It will be most convenient to start cleaning the outer part of it.

First, fill the heat exchanger with warm water, adding some household cleaner to remove rust, scale and other contaminants. After a while, wash everything off the metal with clean water. There may be a fairly thick layer of scale in it, especially if the previous prevention was carried out a long time ago or was not carried out at all, or if the water in your house is quite hard. There may also be dirt coming from the tap water inside, especially if you do not have a filter installed to purify it.

How to clean the boiler heat exchanger

As described above, to clean the outside of the heat exchanger, it is enough to add any household chemical agent for washing and cleaning various surfaces to clean water. To clean the inner surface of the walls of the heat exchanger, more potent preparations may be needed.

First, you can apply a detergent for cleaning plumbing that removes plaque. Then you should rinse the tube several times with a descaling agent intended for coffee machines, irons and other similar equipment. You can do with citric acid diluted in water. Next, with a powerful jet of water supplied to both holes, rinse the heat exchanger, removing the remnants of cleaning agents from it.

Chemical flushing of heat exchangers allows you to clean such hard-to-reach places of devices that cannot be reached without disassembling the unit, or that cannot be manually cleaned. It is possible to flush the device with a solution of hydrochloric acid, but this must be done with caution, it is quite aggressive, and toxic waste is difficult to dispose of.

A good effect is given by flushing the heat exchanger of a gas boiler with citric acid, it acts more sparingly than hydrochloric acid. After washing, a neutralizing solution is poured into the system.

To completely remove the sediment products, the fluid for washing the heat exchangers of gas boilers must circulate in the system all the time, stopping and stagnation will lead to clogging of the pipes with fallen and compressed scale particles.

With this method, water is poured into the line and, under pressure up to 15 atm, is run through the system several times. Flushing the heat exchanger and descaling the hydrodynamic method requires constant monitoring of the pressure. With a critical increase, a heat exchanger rupture is possible.

Cleaning the boiler from soot

Part of the unburned fuel in the form of soot or soot is deposited on the walls of the boiler and heat exchanger. You definitely cannot cope with it alone, since you will need a special compressor capable of creating a pressure of about 10 atmospheres. Method number 1. Mechanical flush

Method number 2. Chemical flush

And, despite the fact that this option is extremely simplified, in order to implement it, you should still be aware of a number of important nuances.

What is the simplification of the methodology? First of all, there is no need to remove the heat exchanger and dismantle some elements of the gas boiler. It is only necessary to disconnect a pair of pipes (a special hose must be connected to one of them, through which a cleaning agent will be supplied inside the case). After passing through the body, the product will come out through the second pipe, to which a hose will also be connected. Therefore, both in the exchanger and in the booster, the product will move in a circle.

Now let's look at what components the booster itself consists of. These include:

  • chemical container;
  • an electric heater (not all models have it, but people with experience advise purchasing just such models; this way the reagent will heat up, and being warm, it removes salt and dirt deposits more quickly and efficiently);
  • pump.

Note! Such chemical reagents can be various kinds of solutions that are freely available on the domestic market. And the question of choosing the right reagent is the most relevant. In each case, it is necessary to take into account not only the degree of clogging, but also its type, as well as the material used in the manufacture of the heat exchanger.

What is the best way to clean the device?

Despite the fact that there are quite a lot of recommendations and instructions, the choice of a particular fluid should be taken with all caution. Most experts advise using saline for this purpose. Features of flushing plate heat exchangers

In this case, the exchanger still needs to be disconnected from the boiler and the external and internal surfaces must be cleaned of scale. It's easiest to start cleaning from the outside. Why is it necessary to flush the heat exchanger?

In fact, a heat exchanger is a metal (or made of cast iron) box in which a radiator is installed. This radiator is heated by the fire of a burner located outside and gives off heat to the working fluid circulating inside.

How often should the heat exchanger be cleaned?

There are indirect signs by which it is possible to determine the degree of clogging of the heat exchanger. It is they who accompany the operation of the heating device.

  1. Fuel consumption has increased markedly. According to statistics, in the case of internal scale on the surfaces of the heater, fuel consumption can increase even up to 15 percent.
  2. The load on the circulation pump increases, it makes extraneous noise, there are interruptions in operation. All this suggests that flushing is required.

Proper operation of the heat exchanger: what to do to make the device last as long as possible?

  1. First of all, the feed valve must be located correctly. During repairs, fluid may drain from the system. Often recharge is carried out by means of a special tap. If this happened once, then it’s okay, but if this tap is located at the entrance to the heater and is provided with cold water, then as a result, the cast iron may experience the so-called “thermal shock” and simply crack.
