All photos from the article

Recently, such a type of construction as puzzles made of plywood sheets has become more and more popular, and they can be both of the classic type and in 3D design. A very big plus is the fact that the kits can be bought ready-made, or you can make it yourself. Next, we will consider the simplest options on which you can acquire initial skills, and tell you what you need to carry out the work.

What do you need to work

If you decide to master such a hobby, then in order to do the work yourself, you will need the following:

Plywood It is this material that is best suited for the manufacture of both 2D and 3D products. The thickness can vary, for example, for small structures, sheets with a thickness of 4 to 8 mm are used.
jigsaw Many masters prefer to use the manual version, its price is low, which allows you to carry out work at minimal cost. Stock up on a sufficient supply of canvases in advance, because if you do not have a lot of practice, then at first you will break them quite often, they cost a little, which is also important. You can also purchase a stationary electric jigsaw, it is much more convenient and faster to work with it.
Copy paper With its help, the pattern will be transferred to the surface of the plywood. It is very important that the markup is done with high quality and accuracy, otherwise the elements may simply not fit together.

To transfer an image from paper, either a pen or a special scriber is used so as not to spoil the drawing and use it several times

Needle file and sandpaper In order for all the elements to fit together well, it is necessary to clean the edges with sanding paper, and the recesses are easier and best processed with a small round needle file
Drilling equipment In order for all connections to be as accurate as possible, it is necessary to drill holes at the end of the grooves, the diameter of which should be equal to the width of the section being cut. So you can achieve maximum accuracy and avoid errors.

Important!
In order for the work to go quickly and efficiently, you need to equip a table for, it will greatly simplify the process.
The simplest option is shown below, which you can make yourself and either permanently attach it to the table, or install it as needed, pressing it with a clamp.

Description of the workflow

We note right away that the instructions for carrying out the work are simple, and if you master at least one product, then you can do the next much faster. As experience is gained, the complexity of designs will increase.

Training

This stage consists of the following activities:

  • First of all, you need to pick up drawings of plywood puzzles, they can be found on specialized resources on the Internet, as well as in specialized literature. You should not take a very complicated option for a start, since you will spend a lot of time and effort on its manufacture, it is much more reasonable to make the design simpler in order to gain experience;

  • The picture can be printed as it is, or in an enlarged size, and the drawing is transferred from it to plywood. The instruction for the work is simple: carbon paper is placed on the material, and the above diagram is placed on top, all the outlines of each element are carefully transferred by tracing them with a pen or a thin scriber. After removing the carbon paper, all lines are inspected and, if necessary, corrected with a sharpened pencil.

main stage

Work is carried out in the following sequence:

  • It is important that the desktop is located at a comfortable height, a workpiece is placed on it, which is fixed with one hand, and work is carried out with the second. Below is a diagram of the correct working position;

  • Cutting is done first along the outer contours. You must carefully cut along the line, trying to deviate from it as little as possible. Do not rush, so as not to make mistakes and not spoil individual elements;

Important!
Do not forget to constantly control the position of the jigsaw so that the ends of the elements are perpendicular to the surface.
Often, inexperienced craftsmen make cutting with distortions, which negatively affects the final result.

  • Next, connecting grooves are cut out, for this, a hole is first drilled with a drill, the diameter of which must match the width of the cutout. Further, the entire section is cut along the line, after which all curvatures are corrected either with a sharp carpenter's knife or with a small needle file;

  • The next step is to process all the ends of the product with sandpaper, you need to slightly round them so that they do not scratch and look more attractive and tidy.. The work requires thoroughness and accuracy, so you should not rush;

How to quickly make a simple wooden puzzle? For example, like this:
Let's start with a sketch. I usually draw on paper and then stick the drawing onto a piece of wood or plywood using tape or glue. Suitable universal contact adhesive (Moment, rubber No. 88, BF-6 and others) or an adhesive stick. But not at this time.

I sketched the sketch right on the edge of a birch plank 18mm thick

First - the general outlines, then outlined the mouth, eyes and tail. Next, we divide into pieces. I pay special attention to the fact that there are no too narrow jumpers across the wood fibers to ensure the strength of the parts.

The sketch is ready. It is better to drill the eyes in advance, since the finished parts can be easily split when drilling. Now I'm going to start cutting. As always - Flying Duchman blades FR-UR#5

If you do not plan to make a standing toy, then you can use thin plywood and a manual jigsaw.
An important stage of work is grinding. Every detail is carefully sanded with sandpaper. And here is the result:

It looks like it turned out not at all homemade,

But rather, it is a wild boar, judging by the powerful fangs - a real boar-hook.

Here is my drawing for sawing out a puzzle from plywood or wood. You can freely download and use the puzzle pattern for your work. It will be interesting for me to look at the photos of the boar you have.

To make a puzzle based on a drawn picture, you will need:
- scissors;
- paper;
- glue;
- ruler;
- the pencils;
- thick cardboard

Draw any picture on a piece of paper. Also, do not forget to make a photocopy - when making a mosaic, you can use it as a hint.

Stick the picture on thick cardboard, then leave it to dry completely. Then turn the image face down.
Using a ruler, draw a grid, which should consist of shapes of various sizes. Use a utility knife or scissors to cut out the puzzle along the lines.

Your puzzle game is ready. Mix and match mosaic pieces and enjoy assembling them.

How to make a photo puzzle

There are more complex ways to make a homemade puzzle, which can serve, for example, as an original gift for a friend. For this you will need:
- color printer, which can be a high-quality photo of A4 format;
- thick cardboard that will fit the size of your printed photo;
- PVA glue;
- scissors;
- pencil.

If you want to make a rather large puzzle, you should contact special studios that print large-format photos for printing photos.

So, glue the printed photo to the cardboard and wait until your product dries completely. Then cut off the excess cardboard so that the edges of the photo exactly match the edges of the cardboard and have the same shape.

After that, on the reverse side of the cardboard, using a regular pencil, mark out the markings on which you will need to cut out the puzzle pieces. If you are making a puzzle for adults, try to make the puzzle pieces more complex than simple geometric shapes. Use not only straight lines, but also semicircles and geometric shapes at various angles. Thus, you will complicate the process of assembling a homemade puzzle as much as possible.

Printing houses have special machines that will allow you to cut your photo in different ways. This option may come in handy in case you are in a hurry with a gift or you are too lazy to wield scissors, but you still want to give an original gift. When the puzzle pieces are cut, try to assemble them yourself into the original picture. At the same time, make sure that they fit well enough to each other.

How to make a puzzle for a baby

To make a soft puzzle for a small child, you will need:
- several sheets of multi-colored porous rubber;
- scissors;
- household cellulose napkins.

Cut out any figures that are familiar to the child from sheets of rubber and stick them on a cellulose napkin. After that, using scissors, cut the resulting figures into 2-3 parts.

For kids who have not yet fully acquired the skills of folding puzzles, it is best to cut the picture into 2 equal parts. After some time, when the baby begins to fold the picture without difficulty, you can cut each piece of the puzzle game into 2 more parts.

Alternatively, to make a puzzle, you can use a bright page from an old illustrated magazine, stick it on cardboard, and cut it into squares, triangles, or other geometric shapes. Even if there is no cardboard at hand - it does not matter! Use the easiest way to make a puzzle for a child - take an old and elastic postcard with color illustrations and cut it into pieces.

It is recommended that parents put the puzzles in a bag or an envelope so that they do not have to look for them all over the room. In this way, you can create a variety of puzzles for your child, allowing him to develop fine motor skills and thinking.

DIY puzzles. Master class with step by step photos

We create puzzles ourselves Master class with step-by-step screenshots

Dear colleagues! Dear friends! You and I work at school, in the garden at a time when few people are interested in paper illustration. Modern children enjoy playing computer games, have tablets. Judging by their students, they are very fond of interactive presentations, they enjoy working on an interactive whiteboard. And I can no longer imagine a modern lesson without these technical means. I create a lot of presentations myself, not because the ones already created are bad, no. I just love doing everything myself. And my kids put together puzzles with great pleasure, whether it's a lesson in mathematics, the Russian language, literary reading. It all depends on the illustration, on the tasks and the animation that you add. I bring to your attention a master class that will help you turn any illustration into a puzzle. Believe me, this will diversify your lesson, introduce an element of entertainment, visibility and problematicness into it, because the child will need to put together a puzzle in order to get an answer to the question posed, to consolidate existing knowledge. And sometimes just relax. And so, today we will try to create a presentation - a puzzle based on a postcard from our favorite site "Entertainment Pantry"

And we will get such a puzzle

To work, we need puzzle templates. I can provide them to you if you don't have them.
Let's get to work.
1. Open the program for creating presentations power point, open slide, choose Layout - blank slide

2. We need a grid, so open the tab View and choose Grid, ruler.

3. Next step: press the right mouse button, select Background Format.

4. Choose Drawing - File

5. By pressing the button - File, select the picture that you have prepared and which will be a puzzle.
(I prepared a postcard on the desktop)

6. Press the button Insert. The picture appears on the presentation slide

7. Now we need to cover the drawing with a rectangle so that it does not appear on the slide.
For this we choose Insert - Shapes - Rectangle.

8. We stretch it to the entire slide, thus closing the image on it.

9. Choose Shape Format - Fill - White. Change the color of the rectangle to white.

10. Remove the borders of the picture. Ibid Picture Format-Shape Outline-No Outline

11. It's time to insert the puzzle template. It must be prepared in advance. Open the template, right click Copy

12. Insert the template into the Presentation- Insert

13. The slide should look like this

14. Now we stretch it outside the template to the size of the slide.

15. Now right-click, select - Group - Ungroup

16. Press the right mouse button again, select Object format.

17. In the drop-down tab, select background fill. You should be able to see our drawing, and on it the contours of the puzzle.

18. Now you need to group the puzzle template so that it takes the frame of the entire picture. To do this, right-click on the image, select Group - Group.

The puzzle is almost ready, only its parts, puzzles, are grouped. It remains to ungroup them and you can work with the resulting puzzle as you wish: add animation so that the puzzles appear on the slide with a mouse click when you answer the question you prepare correctly: these can be riddles, numerical expressions, rules, vocabulary work - anything , at your request.
I want to show you how to add animation to a puzzle. you can do it your way by choosing the animation to your liking.
So
19. Ungroup (right button Group - Ungroup) to customize the animation.

The puzzle pieces are now movable.

20. Choose Animation - Animation settings

21. Now you need select the whole puzzle Add effect

I chose - Entry-Departure. You can choose any.
This animation will be for all pieces of the puzzle. But to work with the puzzle, we need the pieces of the puzzle to appear gradually, one at a time, in the course of performing any tasks. Therefore we choose
The beginning of the effect - After the previous one.

Now the simple job remains: prepare the slides for work.
On the left side of the presentation, select a finished, designed slide and duplicate it as many times as there are pieces in the puzzle

I have 9 so I duplicate the slide 9 times

Now you have to decide which puzzle you will start with, choose this puzzle and remove the animation from it so that it is visible on the slide.

I left 1. And the rest from the first slide, all parts of the puzzle must be deleted.
Now let's move on to the second slide: there is one piece of the puzzle, you must choose another. It can be chosen by anyone. I took the next one. From him too filming animation, and the remaining parts are removed. Now you have 2 puzzles on the slide.

The same must be done with the rest of the seven pieces of the puzzle.
