Materials:

- canvas;
- cardboard or paper with millimeter markings;
- synthetic winterizer;
- PVA;
- cardboard;
- scissors;
- eyelets;
- rings.

• Decide on the dimensions of the album. In our master class, the album turned out to be 30 × 30.
• With the help of a cardboard or a sheet, measure on a regular cardboard 30 cm long and 30 cm wide.

• Cut a piece of synthetic winterizer of the same size.
• Glue the synthetic winterizer onto the cardboard with PVA glue.
• Cut off a square of canvas, while making a margin of 1 cm on each side, so that it is convenient to stick. Glue the canvas on the padding polyester.
• To close the pieces of material, a sheet of cardboard is glued on the inside. The back cover for the album is ready.

• Glue a synthetic winterizer on the front of the cover, and canvas on top, but without a window.
• Now carefully cut out the window and glue the edges to the cardboard.

• Make holes for the eyelets at a distance of 2 cm from the edge.

If you want the album to be not on rings, but like a bound book, then do not make holes for the eyelets. You can decorate the cover to your liking, not necessarily the same as in the first master class.

Sheets are needed to complete the album. It is best to use cardboard. Also cut additional strips, 2-2.5 cm wide, for gluing the main sheets together. Ready-made color pages, such as paper or thin cardboard with color prints, will also come in handy.

On each strip in the center, measure a strip 2-4 mm wide, for this you can use a pen that does not write or a sharp object. This is done so that the album can store voluminous decorations, for example, convex flowers made of paper. The edges of the strips must be cut at an angle of 45 degrees on both sides. Bend the strips so that the marked strip remains in the center, and start gluing to the pages. All pages must be glued evenly so that the album also comes out even, and not skewed.

You can determine the number of pages yourself. After the middle of the album is ready, we start binding. To do this, take a gauze or bandage, cut a strip along the height of the album and at the same time 1.5-2 cm more wide. Now you need to take a piece of braid or tape and stick it on the top and bottom edges of the binding. The lace will make the edges look aesthetically pleasing, and the binding will also be more durable.

From thick paper, make a spine that completely closes the binding and protrudes 1-1.5 cm. Attach it to the album, and glue the cover on top of the folds of the spine.

Do not glue the spine itself to the binding, otherwise the pages of the album will not open freely. Open the cover and glue the protruding layer of bandage or gauze and the ends of the braid to it. The most convenient way to do this is not with PVA glue, but with a transparent “Moment”.

Everyone who wants to make a photo album plans to make it interesting, beautiful and original. Sometimes the volume of the album does not allow to place a large number of photos in it, so we offer a unique idea for its design.

Secrets is a way of arranging inscriptions, drawings or photos, which is known to every schoolgirl who had a “girl's album”. There are several options for their design for a photo album.

1. Secrets on the basis of a postcard. Make a postcard in the background color of the album page. Glue the main photo on the front side, and a secret inside. The flip page can be secured with tape, a clasp, or a cord.
2. Secrets in pockets. Think in advance where such a pocket will be located and make it in the color of the page. Paste the main photos on top and decorate the page. Do not forget to put a secret photo in the pocket. In the photo, it is better to make a loop or make a hole for the grommet so that it is convenient to pull it out. You can decorate the pocket in such a way that additional pictures are pasted on it and visually hidden.

Thanks to the secrets on one page of the photo album, it is easy to stick a vertical and horizontal photo. Also, the photo itself can become a pocket for another one. You can stick a photo on a postcard and glue a few more photos inside. “Sandwiches” made of photo and paper look original, thanks to which you can hide a few surprises on the page.

Do you want to stick a large photo in the album, but feel sorry for the place? Glue the photo on a piece of paper in the background color so that it is convenient to stick the fold to the base of the album. Now the large photo can open, and paste other photos under it. Secure a large photo with thread or a lock. In the same way, it is easy to paste many more photos, if instead of big photo use a few small ones, and keep the technology for secrets.

To make your album look creative, cut off the vertical or horizontal parts of individual pages and decorate them as if they were a continuation of the next page. Do not forget that it is permissible not only to stick a photo, but also to sew it on. This will add flair to ready product. Sew some photos with an accordion and fasten to a cord.

If it seems that some photos do not fit into the plot, hide them behind a decorative door. For children's albums, use drawings of flowers or animals, behind which secrets will also be hidden.

Part sizes.

Naturally, the dimensions below are approximate. You will be guided by your photo album, and its size is absolutely individual. To make it easier for you to orientate in the quantity necessary materials, review these items:

• The dimensions of my binding are 29*29 cm, and the spine is 6.5 cm.
• To make a cover, you need to take 2 mm bound cardboard. If you want the cover to be very durable and practical, then take it, because it is guaranteed to withstand a large number of pages with photos.
• Blanks for the cover itself:
  • Height 30 cm (leave an allowance of 1 cm)
  • Width 29.5 cm (leave an allowance of 0.5 cm.)
• Spine blanks (2 mm cardboard)
  • Width 7.5 cm (leave an allowance of 1 cm),
  • Length 30 cm.

Step-by-step production of a cover for a photo album with your own hands:

1) From the adhesive fabric, you need to cut a piece that will be 2 times longer so that you can wrap the cover with the spine and leave an allowance of 2.5 cm.

2) We lay out the parts of the cover so that there is a gap of 0.3 cm. We glue the spine with an adhesive cloth using an iron. We do the same from the inside.

3) Now we glue the padding polyester on top of the cover. Thoroughly coat it and the fabric with glue. Cut off excess material.

4) Two fragments can be cut out of the fabric and sewn together. Then iron. Attach to the cover and leave an allowance of 2.5 cm.

5) Glue double-sided tape along the edge. Gradually glue the fabric on all sides.

6) We work with corners. We bend one corner, not reaching the cardboard 0.2 cm. Now a little trick on how to make the corners perfectly even and tidy. Along the edge of the folded fabric, but without going beyond it, you need to glue double-sided tape. Using this technique, the corners of the photo album will be formed instantly, neatly and quickly. Guaranteed not to leave noticeable dirty traces of glue. In addition, this technique will save time, because you do not have to cling clothespins and wait until the glue finally dries to evaluate the result. You need to remove the film double sided tape and alternately glue one and the second corner. If everything works out, then you can tighten the center itself.

7) By a similar principle, we are engaged in the remaining three corners.

9) Do not forget to coat the adhesive cloth well as well.

10) Don't worry if the glue seeps through the fabric in places. The glue will not be able to go further than the width of the adhesive tape anyway. This nuance can be hidden when the inside of the cover is pasted over with paper.

11) Now partially decorate the cover with all technical details. We insert the brads, fasten the ribbon with which the album will be tied, sew all the edges.

12) The next step we have is to paste over the inside of the cover with paper, so we will hide all the extra purl elements. You can take a photo card.

13) You need to leave a scoring line with a ruler and pencil and cut off the excess cardboard. Now apply glue to the cardboard and gently stick it on inside covers for our photo album.

14) It is better to leave the album to dry for the whole night, then the fabric cover is guaranteed to stick to the cardboard.

15) The last step is to glue the album into the binding and admire the result!

1. Heavy paper for A4 watercolors or cardstock for a larger album;
2. Pencil;

Take a sheet of watercolor paper and on the longest side make a mark of 14.5 and 15.1 cm at the top and bottom of the sheet.

We draw fold lines at the marked points using a special tool: a creasing board or a ruler with a special nozzle.

We bend, as a result, we get 2 pages of 14.5x21 cm in size with a 6 mm jumper in the middle.

By analogy, we make 4 of the same sheets.

Cover sheet evenly thin layer glue "Pompon".

We connect it as evenly as possible with the second same bent sheet.

We perform a similar operation with the remaining sheets.

From beer cardboard we cut strips 4 mm wide (2 mm less than the distance between the glued pages) and at least 23 cm long (it can be longer, because then they will be cut anyway).

We glue them with Pompom glue as follows, leaving 1 mm from the fold lines:

ATTENTION! The resulting distance between the strips of beer cardboard at least 2 mm is necessary for the album to open later!

Then we cut off the excess - it is necessary that the cartons protrude from the spine from above and below by 3-4 mm.

Glue a piece of tack tape. I have a lilac album planned, so I chose a ribbon of the appropriate color.

Then we bend it and glue it on the back side.

We measure the resulting height and width of the spine to proceed to the cover. I get 21.7 cm by 2.5 cm. I will add 5 mm to the spine height, as well as 5 mm to the width of the pages themselves, so for the cover I will need 2 cardboard boxes measuring 22.2x15 cm.

DIY soft cover for scrapbooking album

For paperback you will need:

1. Fabric (I will arrange 2 types of fabric. If you don't have a sewing machine or you can just use one type of fabric if you wish);
2. Fleece to give softness and volume to the cover;
3. Glue stick and pom pom glue.

We cut 2 sheets of beer cardboard measuring 22.2x15 cm.

For the spine of the cover, I use thin cardboard from improvised materials, often I take a folder from under watercolor sheets for this purpose. You will need a rectangle 22.2x10 cm.

Approximately in the middle we mark a rectangle 2.7x10 cm (I remind you that the width of the spine is 2.5 cm, so I added only 2 mm, you can add more, but definitely no less otherwise then it simply won’t fit into the cover).

Inside this rectangle, I mark out the creasing lines and make folds every 3 mm to get a beautiful semi-circular spine at the cover.

At a slight angle, I cut the “wings” of the spine.

I try on the binding to the spine of the cover - at this stage it is still not too late to make it bigger if suddenly it does not fit.

We glue the beer cardboard to the thin spine in the same way as in the photo, leaving 3 mm to the extreme fold line.

Do the same with the back of the cover.

Once again we try on the binding in the almost finished cover.

We draw a line on the cover at a distance of about 8 mm from the extreme fold line.

Fleece will be glued to this line.

It is necessary to make markings on the fleece itself to fit the size of the cover and then cut off the desired fragment. So it will be smoother than if you first glue it, and then cut it.

I sewed the fabric for the cover on sewing machine. I repeat that you can use not two types of fabric, but one, all at your discretion.

Then you need to iron the fabric very carefully.

To evenly fold the fabric on the cover, you need to make a markup on the cardboard and align it with the stitching line on the fabric.

Glue it on with glue stick.

Then we turn the cover over and very abundantly coat the entire area of ​​​​the spine from fleece to fleece with glue-pencil.

Carefully smooth the glued fabric using, for example, a ruler or a creasing stick.

We bend and glue the fabric on the other side.

Then we glue the fabric on top, not reaching a few centimeters to the corners.

We bend the corner but not close to the cardboard, but leaving a distance of 3 mm, this is important. No need to cut corners.

With the second movement, we complete the corner, fixing it also on the glue stick.

Do the same for the remaining 3 corners.

We put the binding into the cover so that there is an equal distance from the top and bottom relative to the cover.

We evenly cover the page and the free ends of the keeper tape with a thin layer of Pompom glue.

We fix it with a ruler so that the entire page sticks evenly. You need to glue the binding into the cover in the closed position:

We do the same with the other page.

We check: if everything is done correctly, the album should open easily and completely.

In addition, photographs can be placed directly into the album, or it is made with empty places for their placement.

Materials and tools:

1. Binding cardboard 1 sheet of large format (or 4 pieces 21x20.5cm)
2. Cover fabric, 50cm x 25cm.

1. Cut out sheets of cardboard measuring 21x20.5 cm - 2 pieces for the cover.

2. Cut out sheets of cardboard for endpapers. Endpapers can be the same size or slightly smaller. I made a little less (from scraps of cardboard) - 19x19 cm - 2 pcs

3. Cut out the sheets of the album from thick plain paper - 20x20cm - 15 pieces

4. We make holes for the rings on the sheets using a clerical hole punch. I have a middle mark on my hole punch that needs to be aligned with the middle of the sheet. For convenience, we mark the middle on the sheets with a pencil. We punch several sheets of paper.

5. We make holes for the rings on the sheets of cardboard for the cover.
IMPORTANT! The cover cardboard should be positioned so that the left edge of the cover coincides with the edge of the pages: 21 cm - height (0.5 cm protrudes from the edges of the pages up and down) and 20.5 cm - width (0.5 cm the cover protrudes from page margins on the right). If the left side is also indented by 0.5 cm, then punching will be VERY problematic, since many hole punchers have indent restrictions.

6. We make holes on the endpapers.
IMPORTANT! Do not forget to first try on the placement of the flyleaf on the cardboard cover. Since I have it smaller, I make indents on all sides. (If the endpaper and cover are the same size, you can punch the same.)

For such holes, I had to use an eyelet installer with a hole punch function. When using the installer, you can track the puncture site better than with a hole punch.

Once again we check the correctness.

7. Cut off the fabric and synthetic winterizer. Fabric with a margin for bends. Sintepon - size in size with cardboard cover.

8. We make holes in the padding polyester (we use a cropodile or eyelet installer).

9. We fasten the synthetic winterizer to the cover cardboard on a double-sided tape.

10. We cover the cardboard cover with synthetic winterizer with fabric. For temporary fixing, use adhesive tape.

We bend the corners of the fabric beautifully, sit on the glue.

11. We make holes in the cover. We look by touch where we already have holes under the fabric and make holes in these places with the help of a cropodile. Install eyelets.

IMPORTANT! If you try to combine items 5, 8 and 11, that is, first attach the synthetic winterizer to cardboard, cover it with a cloth and then make holes by measuring the middle, then the following problem may arise: the cover may simply not enter the hole punch because of its thickness. I had this, so I decided to punch holes in parts. In this case, if the same problem arises (due to the thickness, the cover is not included in either the hole punch or the cropodile), you can make holes in the fabric with scissors in places where there are already holes in the cardboard. And then insert the grommet onto the glue and clamp it with pliers.

12. We glue the paper to the cardboard of the endpapers, having previously punched it with the eyelet installer in the right places.
